wasn’t having the best day so decided to finally watch the barbie-movie (it’s on hbo rn) bc figured that could cheer me up

when yuuji and megumi finally got together, what were everyone’s reactions? like inumaki and panda obviously threatened yuuji in the most nonsensical way possible but what about gojo and nanami and the others? like finally seeing their little boy grow up to be old enough to date and immediately going for the worst possible candidate in a lot of people’s minds *cough—the zenin—cough*.

if gojo was on the verge of a mental breakdown from just giving Megumi The Talk, i can’t imagine just how hard it hit him that his little sea urchin was growing up so fast.

What must be understood is that the second years have been following their relationship from its inception like it’s their favorite soap opera. Maki clocked it when Megumi tried to kill Kamo Noritoshi with an elephant over him and all of them have been overly invested in it since. Those are their beloved kohais. They’re both so stupid and vulnerable. Like idiot babies. They want them to be happy idiot babies who hold hands.

Yuuta would fight special grade curses with one hand and text Maki with the other to find out if they were dating yet and maki would text back “no but they each killed a special grade and megumi has a domain expansion now” and Yuuta would text back “what am I MISSING”. Inumaki thought if they gave them nine years or so megumi would work himself up to a hand graze and Yuuta would freak out because they don’t have that kind of TIME. Panda texted Yuuta in a panic weeks after everyone else figured it out to tell him that he thinks megumi and the kid who’s sukunas vessel like each other and Yuuta had to pretend to be surprised as if the entire matter was not giving him stress sweats from Africa.

The unofficial reaction was that maki sent a gif of a ship coming into port into the group chat and everyone celebrated like it was new years and the ball had just dropped because thank fuck it finally happened.

As a side note, the second years all consider themselves parents of three and are only half joking about that fact. It’s so hard raising teens. The little shits keep fighting things. None of them have any social skills. All three of them are completely feral. They’re pretty sure nobara bit a purse snatcher the last time they went out into the city.

But that was the unofficial reaction. They can’t tell Megumi or Yuuji about that.

Yuuta actually gets a call from Megumi to tell him that he has a boyfriend, and he had to pretend like all this was news to him as if he had not spent the past three months more invested in this than anything in his own life. Yuuta told him that he was happy for him, and that he couldn't wait to meet Yuuji, and lived in blissful ignorance about the fact that Yuuji screamed into his own pillow for twenty minutes that night because Megumi came and told him that Okkotsu-senpai was important to him and he'd like it if they got to know each other.

Maki started a campaign of teasing Megumi about his new boyfriend, because she sort of loves giving her little nephew shit. Megumi wonders why life has to be this hard.

Inumaki and Panda had already given Yuuji the shovel talk (it was part of what made Yuuji realize he was completely in love with Megumi) and had a stunningly moving congratulations and dating advice speech for Yuuji that featured a power point presentation.

Its moving nature was slightly impacted by the fact that Inumaki gave it.

Inumaki patted him manfully on the back, and Panda gave him a brotherly hair ruffle, and Yuuji continued to be confused as to what the hell was up with the second years.

The issue with Gojo is that they can never tell when he's taking the piss or if he's being genuine. Like, Gojo loves giving him a hard time. It's a classic "Fushiguro is getting hit on" conundrum. Is he actually devastated that his little boy is growing up or is he just doing it to fuck with them?

Megumi insists that he's doing it to be an idiot and refuses to speak to him for days, which does not help with all the weeping.

Whatever the case, it's enough to annoy Nanami, because he keeps agonizing over how his baby was swept up by some jock who was going to steal his sweetness and Nanami would take offense on Yuuji's behalf because Itadori Yuuji is a gentleman and a delightful young man and Gojo should be glad that Megumi is dating someone like him.

Megumi wonders why life has to be this hard sometimes.

Nanami is just happy for them both and gives them both private congratulations wherein he tells them that he's glad they have each other and that they are good together. He is the most normal of them all.

I would love to know though #There are several mentions and names thrown in this that intrigue me very much. I think they make sense #such as Huaiyan being permitted always to visit the Flint Emperor or the marshal of the Xianzhou being the one dealing with Shuhu #but it makes me wonder about them too. Yingxing being the one designing a binding for the criminal that formed delusions to imprison them #in one of their own is very interesting and I'd love to know more about this story. The concept and process. But I guess this will be all #Jing Yuan's name being restricted to be called in front of the criminal they use for interrogations works so well #with how the criminal is being used in exchange for seven days of freedom yearly. #pan rambles #My ramble is gonna be a bit somber so feel free to just scroll past it! #but anyways #I think about that insert a lot #They didn't want the life of a thief #They only started because their mother was being tricked by loan sharks to they simply stole from said loan sharks- #(oh yeah. this s/i had a mother and she's her whole character and e everything.) #(Most my s/is have parents but I never delve on them because their relationship with them is bad/complicated usually) #(this one is different mainly bc was more based on my Sona which may be called Panchi but is like it's own separate entity from my inserts) #back to the point though. #They didn't want to become a thief but ultimately they stole and now they felt like they had no other choice but to continue #They meet friends ofc but they still feel guilt for their life of a thief. even if they're closer to a robin hood type of thief #they still feel guilty. And then they eventually meet L.upin #and like it or not...they become charmed by him. They're both leaders of their own groups and pretty smart. #The two were on opposing teams at first but their groups eventually get along and Panchi is happy. They were always happy to help L.upin #and eventually they realize that the reason they like helping him/seeing him is because they've fallen in love with him #They've fallen for the great L.upin the T.hird. The two have had their ship tease moments but it never went beyond that #And unfortunately for them...The love isn't quite requited. There's this scene between him and F.ujiko at the end of Part 5 that just. #Hurts Panchi. The feeling that the one they love-the first person they fell for simply loves someone else. #oh man that reminds me of this moment in Part 4. Da Vinci gives each character a challenge of sorts near the end #Panchi was placed in a Perfect Dream world and their challenge was to find what was wrong with it/to snap out of it #what snaps them back to reality was the fact that L.upin wasn't in the “perfect” dream world. Their feelings for him were that strong #Anyways. point is. This s/i has a life they didn't want and in the end didn't get the guy- #It's quite a melancholic s/i when I think about them too hard. they work so much and never catch a break #A part of me still does like L.upin and wants to go back to shipping him but then I just get insecure (?) one of the aspects that i love most about the confession scene is that blake & yang both already know the big truth they haven’t dropped on each other. blake knows yang is thinking ‘i love you’ and yang realizes that blake is thinking it too as the clouds go gold behind her, even though she immediately questions it with the dropping of her gaze and the uncertainty on her face - for them, it’s a matter of being brave enough to speak it into existence rather than revealing previously-unknown feelings to each other. my question is, when do you guys think blake and yang first became aware of how they, themselves, were feeling? 

#though i love the thought of them having crushes on each other at beacon i think it's more of a curiosity than anything #like the precursor to a crush or even feelings #i wouldn't put my money on burning the candle either - i think yang was interested and blake still had a lot she was processing at the time #but that neither of them really thought concretely in that way about one another #at least not for the duration of v1-first three quarters of v3 #once beacon started falling i think their worry for each other spiked - you see blake and yang's faces during their call to each other #as beacon is under attack and then obviously everything that happens w adam after that #but of course #i think yang first started to realize her feelings were more than just 'like' sometime immediately after blake left after the fall of beacon #she realizes her frustration/hurt/bitterness/grief is more than just 'someone i trust and care about left me behind' because underneath that #there is a very raw and real ache of missing blake more than anything and wishing she were there #and that's when it starts to become apparent to us too #AS FOR BLAKE #again love the thought of her choosing yang in the emerald forest and being interested from day 1 #tho i do think she was drawn to yang in v1 and felt an affinity towards her i wouldn't say it developed into 'realized' love til later #she had love for yang which adam obviously took note of - especially the similarities between the two of them - #but do i think blake realized she loved yang until adam was threatening to take her away? nope #honestly i think she squashed it down after v3c11 when she ran away - compartmentalized and told herself that 'yang deserves better' etc and #didn't let herself think about it at all bc what was the point? she just focused on everything else going on and didn't acknowledge #then when they saw each other at the end of v5 - imo that was the turning point #that was it #their feelings rushed to the surface - broke through all the anger and suppression and grief #and they've been falling for each other even through all the issues they worked out from v6 onward #the end that's my theory and i want to hear all of yours too #RWBY #Bumbleby #RWBY 9 #RWBY Volume 9 #Blake x Yang #Blake Belladonna

if i really scratch my head i think maybe the one thing all of this could stem from is mere discussion of the fact that talia and selina's histories with bruce sort of operate in the reverse and inevitably that factors into any contention with either relationship. like it can't really be helped that bruce and talia were married very early on into the latter's history and that this is integral to analyzing talia's entire dynamic with bruce, her evolving perception of her own place in the world, and her eventual decision to break free of bruce entirely. the constraints of a marriage with bruce as desired by her father are foundational lore to the early aughts of her character in a way that selina's settled domestic life with bruce is not. if we're talking about the golden age what was foundational to selina's dynamic with bruce was his ability to recognize above everyone else her consistent capacity for mercy despite her villainous goals on the surface. in post-crisis that was translated along the lines of a class struggle specifically. the villainous goals were interpreted to represent a defiance of men and the state and their collective violence, and they also formed a means of survival. what was initially merely a recognition of selina's capacity for mercy now became a potential recognition of bruce's own hypocrisies. selina acted as a symbol for petty criminals in gotham whom bruce would otherwise have written off as immoral wholesale bc to him the law was the law. and the remarkable thing about it was that none of it required selina giving even an inch to bruce. she was who she was and that was what made her utterly compelling to him. it's not a slight against selina that neither marriage nor a close civilian relationship formed the basis of her relationship with bruce and i don't understand why anyone would take it as one. marriage and domestic life for talia was a mark of the utter tragedy of her relationship with bruce. it was a fantasy and a delusion and it could never have given her what she wanted nor lent her any kind of agency in the long term. and i think when we meander into the realm of comparing the relationships we really start to diminish why certain aspects are important to either. why are the various patriarchal restrictions on talia's agency so integral to her character arc and its exploration of freedom? why is selina's existence in a sphere of life entirely distinct of bruce so integral to her character arc and its exploration of class? the constant back and forth between shippers on either end trying to equalize in terms of what either relationship has gone through in canon like it's a checklist to romantic validity is a bit absurd and i wish we would move away from it when analyzing the relationships or the characters

#it reminds me a bit of when i said that i think selina becoming a millionaire was a stupid development #that was insulting to everything newell and grant and moench had tried to build up about her in the early 90s #and people got upset and called me a hypocrite bc talia is rich. like my guy. can i help it that talia is rich #i can't erase her foundational character traits to make some sort of even playing field.. #and frankly the fact that she and bruce are rich /is/ precisely what drives the whole argument about duty between them #they are in no position to complain or grow tired or languish in their reams of wealth #there is a duty they owe to the world while they have power and they have to suck it up and uphold that duty #it is the absolute least they can do and they know that. hence why talia is repeatedly on bruce's ass about it #it is also not lost on me that the above complaint may largely stem from the lazarus affair #where talia was portrayed to be ridiculously haughty and more than willing to show off her wealth #even though she didn't do that in like. any other comic in her pre-assassination era #and the lazarus affair as i have said so many times was a ridiculous comic anyways bc it setup talia and selina to be #combative ship fodder to fuel disagreements between dick and bruce. it is literally the first comic where they were ever #pit against each other. despite the fact that they had co-existed in harmony for a decade prior #and denny o'neil had gone so far as to establish both of them as bruce's definitive love interests in the 70s #like idk man it's not hard to entertain a little more critical thinking and poke at why the comparisons between them are nonsensical #a lot of it. a Lot of it. is stemming from people wanting either ship to one up the other. and you shouldn't fall for it #to be deleted #anyway. not making this rebloggable bc i'm sure you're all annoyed already but this whole thing has really confused me. so i've rambled

i am moving my stuff for going to college! and my stuff for not going to college! my family is moving and i need to empty my room entirely before i leave in one week! i am excited but also really extremely terrified!

#but. concert tonight. so just putting in four hours or so of hardcore packing things up. then i go have a good time and see my favorite band #or one of my favorite bands. or whatever this band is to me. they’re very cool and they’re also really easy to see in concert #anyway me and my mom and two of my friends are going. and she calls me arthur half time now so that part won’t be an issue at all #and we’re getting mcdonalds which is hopefully something i’ll be capable of eating now (post [redacted average surgery] woes) #i feel silly for being vague of that. but one of my closest friends would really not be a fan so here i am. #anyway everything is just a lot though. and of course my parents are fighting with each other all day since we’re going between the places #my mom is moving out of the apartment and my dad is moving in to the apartment. yeah i know it’s really stupid and weird #and i’m really not feeling well. but packing is a good thing just takes energy and willpower #here’s what i’m gonna do. i’m gonna pick my outfits for the next seven days and set those aside. then pack the rest of my closet in boxes #and then once my clothes are gone everything will be a lot easier. that’s settled then #but yeah i would love it if i had a room to come home to at christmas time. and hold onto my stuff for me. but it’s alright #i am secretly hoping that it’s too impossible of a project though that our house is in too bad shape to sell in time #there’s a lot of repairs we need to do before we can get any money for it really. so hopefully it lasts until i have my own apartment #anyway. status update or something. hope everyone is doing well #me. my post. mine. #delete later
