The ACOTAR fandom is the only fandom I'm in where choosing a ship seems to imply that you hate all the other characters and I'm not sure why.
First let me just say that I am firmly on team give both Azriel and Lucien a happy ending. However that comes about I will be fine with.
I tend to lean towards Elriel, but that does not in anyway imply that I hate Gwyn or Lucien.
Gwyneth Berdara is an absolute badass. Her friendship with Nesta is everything, I'm not at all against her and Azriel ending up together and I simply lean towards Elriel because I don't see Elucien as endgame.
Which leads me to Lucien. I realize that saying I don't see Elucien as endgame is harsh, but let me assure you that Lucien is one of my favorite sjm characters. I love him. So why don't I see him with his mate? Because Elain has put exactly zero effort into him. She hasn't shown any interest in knowing him as a person (well fae) let alone as his mate and I don't want that for him. I want him to have someone who loves him for him, not because the cauldron said so. And if sjm proves me wrong and they end up together, I will be fine with it, I just feel like she has to do a lot of backtracking to make this relationship not onesided.
Choosing a ship does not mean you hate all other options. It's just an opinion, everyone needs to calm down.

What do you think Elucien's first kiss will be like?
Tender, slow, testing.
Because even though their lips are touching Lucien still can’t believe it. And so he’s tentative in the claiming of her soft lips. A slight question in the act are you sure? Elain is sure. She doesn’t want to just reach out feel the fire. It’s warmth and glow. She wants to be burned by the flame.
As Lucien begins to pull away her arms twine around his neck pulling her to him. Lips firming and demanding in the process. It was a resounding yes to his question. They tumbled to garden floors one arm wrapped around her waist, the other gathered in her loosened waves of hair. Her hands moved to his cheeks cupping his face. Her thumb stilled on the scar that marred him, plagued him of many nightmares after that. A scar she was instantly drawn to the moment she met him. And one she has come to love and respect just as much as the male himself.
The shy touched brush of her tongue to his swelled lips nearly undoes him. He’s overcome in his thoughts and her sweet caress of her touches. The cracks in his heart fill with warmth and feelings he’s wary to admit. Yet feel them with every content sigh and the smile he feels against him. In this moment the that same warmth from his heart flows through his body emitting a soft glow beneath the surface.
So basically it’s gonna be adorable and full of want. And Lucien is going to melt from the inside out because she wants him and the realization in her touch makes him all soft and glowy. And it’s going to destroy me and heal me.

Is it a coincidence that both Tharion and Lucien have super depressing lives at the moment or does SJM just hate redheads?
As a ginger I'm starting to feel offended.

Lucien is getting blamed for shit Tamlin and Ianthe are responsible for.
This ridiculous ship war twisted many canon info for the fandom especially about Lucien but let me drop this one.
Was it awful of Lucien to try and get Feyre to return back to Tamlin and the Spring Court? Yes.
Was Lucien awful for ignoring Feyre's pleas? Yes.
Lucien is not blameless, however we must look at the context of what is going on.
First let's establish the reason why Lucien was desperate to save Feyre in ACOMAF from Rhys and the Night Court:
1. Outside of Velaris, Rhys wore his "I'm the villain of all villains" mask to make others fear him and that includes Lucien.
2. Tamlin probably fed him more info about how awful Rhys is, the same way he told Feyre that Rhys killed his entire family and he was the only one spared.
3. Lucien witnessed Rhys threaten Feyre and drug her to make her dance for him and touch her inappropriately in front of all the other Fae.
4. Lucien has no reason to trust Rhys easily early on because Rhys threatened at some point to harm Lucien's mother. Let's not forget the Winter Court children that were slaughtered (back when they thought it was Rhys's fault).
5. Rhys has Daemati powers which is basically mind-controlling powers. Lucien suspected Feyre was held in the Night Court against her will and Rhys controlled her mind. He even asks her that in ACOMAF. Let's also not forget that Feyre wrote them letters even though they knew she didn't know how to write so they probably thought those letters were written by Rhys.
6. Aside from its High Lord, the Night Court's reputation is terrifying. Cassian, Azriel, Mor and Amren's reputations are terrifying. Lucien won't expect Feyre to be living in peace in a place as lovely as Velaris. No one even knew about Velaris then which explains his shock when he goes there the first time.
7. Lucien himself is exiled. He has no other home than the Spring Court and at that time he believed that no place is safer for Feyre than with Tamlin (because the Night Court's reputation didn't make it seem like a good place for someone like Feyre). This is a prime example that explains why some victims often return to their abuser—because they think there isn't a better place out there for them.
Does any of this justify Lucien's mistakes? No but context is important and Sarah allows her characters to make mistakes.
But it's a reach to claim that the reason Elain and Nesta were turned or even brought to Hybern was because of Lucien.
Lucien's connection to Tamlin does not help but:
• He isn't the High Lord and has no influence.
• Lucien is abused by Tamlin and we saw that when he tried to convince Tamlin to let Feyre train her powers. This gives an idea of what would happen to Lucien if he sometimes tries to change Tamlin's mind or undermine his authority. Tamlin's reaction is almost always violent.
• In the canon text, it was clear that Tamlin and Lucien had no knowledge of the sisters getting kidnapped. It was Ianthe's doing and they both were clearly against it.
• When Nesta sees Lucien she does not point fingers at him and blames him, she blames Tamlin for being turned. Not only Elain was the victim but also Nesta—I don't think Nesta would tolerate someone that was the direct cause of her and Elain's trauma but that person doesn't seem to be Lucien. She actually is on better terms with him in ACOSF.
But all this talk of Lucien and his mistakes often neglect the fact that Lucien redeemed himself. Ignoring what he did to owe up to his mistakes is ignoring the canon text—it's easier to turn a blind eye to all the right things Lucien did in ACOWAR and onwards but that's basically ignoring canon.
• Early in ACOMAF, Lucien gifts Feyre a dagger and a belt with it because after Amarantha he wanted her to be armed to the teeth.
• Lucien helped Feyre to escape the Spring Court and his brothers in ACOWAR.
• Lucien went on a dangerous mission alone to save Vassa and bring her and her army to aid in the War.
• He helped Nuan create an anti-dote for the Fae Bane which was one of the main reasons Prythian stood a chance against Hybern. He didn't even tell Rhys and co to not give them false hope.
• He works as the human emissary to ensure peace and help in doing something now that he has no place to call a home.
So, not only does the canon text show Lucien's efforts at making up for his past mistakes, nothing from ACOWAR and onwards places him in a position where he is to blame for what happened at the end of ACOMAF. None of the POVS we got in Frost and Starlight and Silver Flames point accusations at Lucien.
To conclude, Lucien isn't blameless but part of this fandom frame Lucien in a way that is worse than Tamlin and point things at him that even canon explains and clarifies that Lucien isn't at fault for.

No but imagine the pain and rage Helion would feel when he realizes that his son called Beron a "Father" for centuries, and what that so-called-father subjected him to—fully knowing that if he had known earlier Lucien was his son, he would've done everything in his power to protect him.

I think that, if elain didn't reject the bond until now, after so long knowing that it exists, it must be for something.
If sarah really planned for nothing to happen between elain and lucien or if elain really didn't care in the least for lucien, I tthink elain would have rejected the bond a long time ago or at least she would have shown signs of wanting to, maybe talking to her sisters or something
If you've noticed, both Elain and Lucien are sidelined in the recent book. They both did not have a single dialogue post-Solstice.
Some say it's clear Elain and Lucien do not fit because she is uncomfortable around him/
1. We don't know what she really is feeling.
2. Elain has an issue with the bond and not Lucien.
If SJM wants to make it clear how a couple wouldn't work out, she would've explored Elucien's dynamic and have them interact more to convince us of how unfit they are but... they barely spoke to each other or even sat in the same room. This only convinced me that she is holding them off. As she said in her own words, tension would come first to them and then growth and then their healing journey together.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
They were on good terms by the end of ACOWAR which begs the question of what changed Elain's attitude towards Lucien? We know in ACOFAS she neither wanted a mate or a male and it's safe to assume by then she was still attached to Graysen. She might still be attached to him and to her humanity.
Tumblr media
Also, if Sarah wants to sink a ship for good she wouldn't set up a hopeful journey for both Elain and Lucien. They are both in the same situation. They're both trying to find a home in this world. I think that is one of the journeys we will see them go on together.
Also reminder that Mor's power is Truth.
About the bond rejection, some will say it has to be in Elain's POV but it would literally need only one scene. A mate rejection isn't a ceremony or a paper to be signed because no matter how weak of a bond it is it will trail both Elain and Lucien until the end of their existence and this is what canon tells us. Even if mates are separated the bond is still there between them even if weak.
I do think we will see the case of a mate rejection/separation with other characters (Mor/Eris, Helion,LoA, etc.)

here’s some from Mr. & Mrs. Vanserra:
“Make sure you get enough sleep, azizam,” Helion called out.
“I know, Baba,” Lucien replied, the word slipping out from how tired he was. He forced himself not to make a big deal out of it and continued walking upstairs. “I’ll see you in the morning.”
