actually wild that essek was so against the religion of the luxon and so convinced that everyone was wrong about it that he refused to undergo consecution. you'd think he would jump at the chance, at around the time he probably said no, to forever be alive and powerful and horrible but. no? he didn't. i don't even think that typhros is the reason why he decided against it. he could have just decided enough is enough, three or seven lives in, whenever he felt that his mind was slipping. but he didn't do it. essek what do you know. i need to know if he had theories or if he's just that stubborn

i had been wandering around dragon's end on orion and at some point decided to pause and try to get some screenshots of the animation that plays when u use the spear of archemorus elite skill

and i made some interesting discoveries!

(shout out to the random rat critters in the area that gave me something to huck a spear at lmao)

one: they literally just copy-pasted the orange tinted version of the elite luxon warrior set from gw1 for archemorus lmao sir your polygons

two: THEY MADE A FANCY UNIQUE MODEL FOR THE SPEAR????????? cause it's absolutely not any spear/staff/etc model that already exists in the game!! it doesn't match any existing skin/model!! it's totally new!

also this is what the spear looked like in gw1!! just as reference!!!

i really don't know why they made a fancy new model for it beyond i guess just making the elite skill Look Cool (but then why not give archemorus himself a new model........) but i'm begging anet to release the spear skin as a gem store item or something. anet please let me have the spear. i come bearing time duplicate, an epic-level spell found in the depths of the epic level handbook for dnd 3.5e. this will now consume my waking thoughts for dunamancy/sg/oc purposes

Once in a lifetime MOON event that is definetly going to happen in C3. Where the Bells Hell will be I have no idea, but can you imagine if it was here!

I know Matt doesn't like to answer the plot hooks he puts in books so that other DMs can feel free to put their own spin on things. And even if he had the general idea for Avalir, all the details were probably worked out with Brandon and players just recently. And yet, how easy would it be to simply replace the Pit Fiend leader with ZERXUS!!!

I made it Caleb but he rolled badly and didn't know anything but I had planned to put 2 wizards here anyways so I made the other one Essek!

#LONG TAGS LORE DUMP FOR A FIC I'M NEVER GONNA WRITE PROBABLY #deirta is pentecost she lost her husband in a battle and piloted the jaeger to shore alone - verin is tendo he could fight but deirta #doesn't want either of her sons in a jaeger ever. verin is okay enough with this. essek is not. #caleb ran a triple arm jaeger with astrid and wulf and lost his mind a little bit when they died. he felt them die. the added stress of #piloting a jaeger to shore on his own put him in the hospital and then a psych ward for three months #before he began helping with wall construction as equipment maintenance. clearly this is still a magic au and tech = magic etc etc #I CANNOT stress enough that jaegers are powered by luxon beacons. #anyway essek is in mako's position and caleb is beckett. the restless assistant and the tired veteran #essek chooses caleb's candidates - the candidate process is a little more complicated because these fantasy jaegers #work off of both magic and manual physical effort - candidates have to be evenly matched in both physical and mental fields #blumendrei only worked because caleb and astrid combined matched wulf in physicality. astrid and wulf matched caleb in casting. #it was. unhealthily competitive between them at times and astrid was the worst about it. he still misses them every single day. #it's like. shit hurts to do when one arm or leg is weaker than the other. it's like that. it has to match #essek and caleb have little noodle arms and truly insane skills w casting. so they're compatable. essek is sure. caleb does the same #'why do you keep making that face' bit like beckett did bc he's tired of essek's attitude and deirta's flat dismissal of him #they metaphorically roll the same exact initiative and the fight ends in caleb casting firebolt/essek casting sapping sting #and the two of them both use their reaction to counterspell. they both move to cast again when deirta is like Okay Stop Fighting I Get It #heehoo. the first time they drift together caleb leans that essek secretly recovered a beacon from a downed jaeger and has been using it to #advance his research while passing himself off as a genius - not that he isn't. he just has another stepping stone as well. #essek gets to live thru caleb's experience of feeling two (2) people die at the same exact moment. yeah verin has to pull that fuckin plug. #other notes. veth and yeza r the scientists. OBVIOUSLY veth drifts with a kaiju brain like are u KIDDING me #other jaeger teams are fjord+jester yasha+beau and the tealeaf triplets.

still reeling at the reveal of the like. lateral consecution. that opal and ted went through. understanding yourself by splitting into pieces and getting to know them like strangers... so similiar to the dynasty's reincarnation consecution and yet so different. the luxon is so fascinating and the idea that possibly two entirely separate cultures both have lore and meaning and connection to the luxon through the beacons is definitely. something
