RADMONSKY CRUSHES SWAMP RABBITS WIN STREAK
Tumblr media
Swamp Rabbits mount a late comeback, but Rush avoids sweep in the finale By: Mark Binetti, Greenville Swamp Rabbits GREENVILLE, S.C. – Ethan Somoza and Josh McKechney hit paydirt late in the third period, but the comeback effort of the Greenville Swamp Rabbits was thwarted, in part by 47 saves from Matt Radomsky, leading to a 5-3 win for the Rapid City Rush on Sunday afternoon. The loss ends a four-game winning streak for the Swamp Rabbits dating back to February 17th.Both teams skated to a scoreless draw for the opening 20 minutes, the first time in this three-game series. At 5:52 in the second period, the Rush earned their first lead of the set and expanded by multiple goals, beginning with Alex Aleardi. At 4:41, a turnover forced by Jimmy Soper behind the net led to a chance for Aleardi, who from the high slot rifled a shot past Swamp Rabbits net-minder Ryan Bednard to give the Rush a 1-0 lead (Soper had the lone assist).Exactly 2:05 later, Brett Gravelle swooped in transition over the Swamp Rabbits' blue line and, from the right side, unloaded a laser past Bednard's blocker far post to double the Rush lead at 6:46 (Logan Nelson and Blake Bennett assisted). Finishing the scoring run was Simon Boyko, who at 10:33 completed a two-on-one rush with Keanu Yamamoto, finishing past Bednard to make it a 3-0 hockey game (Yamamoto and Zack Hoffman assisted). In the final two minutes, Brannon McManus ended the run and got the Swamp Rabbits on the board, threading a shot from the right wall through traffic and past Rush goaltender Matt Radomsky to bring the game to 3-1 entering the final frame (Jake Stevens had the lone assist).Keanu Yamamoto picked up where the Rush left off and struck early in the final period to continue establishing breathing room. Just 75 seconds into the last period of the series, Yamamoto crept into the Swamp Rabbits zone and rifled a shot from the left side that beat Bednard up high, vaulting the Rush to a 4-1 lead (Alex Aleardi and Zack Hoffman assisted). The goal prompted a change in net, with Bednard coming out for Jacob Ingham for the remainder of the game.Trying to start a rally, Ethan Somoza buried a power play goal in a chaotic net-front exchange, settling a loose puck out of a congregation in the crease to cut the deficit to 4-2 with 6:27 gone by in the third (Carter Souch and Brett Kemp assisted). As the Swamp Rabbits were about to pull Ingham for the extra firepower late, Josh McKechney wrapped around the Rush net, pinballing the puck off of a defender and in to put the Swamp Rabbits in striking distance, trailing 4-3 with 3:41 left in the game (Tanner Eberle and Anthony Beauchamp assisted). Unfortunately for the Swamp Rabbits, Jimmy Soper ended the threat of a comeback with an empty-net goal with 22.5 seconds remaining, giving the Rush a 5-3 win to end an eight-game losing streak and avoid a sweep at the hands of the Swamp Rabbits.Ryan Bednard, making his first start since February 4th, stopped 11 of 15 shots in 41:15 of his start (16-9-0-0). The loss ended a streak of six consecutive starts with a win dating back to January 12th. Jacob Ingham finished the game, stopping all five shots he saw in 17:20 of relief. He was the only goaltender to play in all three games in the series. The Swamp Rabbits now head back on the road for the next four games, beginning this Saturday against the Atlanta Gladiators. Puck drop for the first two-game set is slated for 7:00 p.m. EST at Gas South Arena on March 2nd.About the Greenville Swamp Rabbits … Acquired by Spire Sports + Entertainment (SS+E) in 2020, the Greenville Swamp Rabbits hockey team has been providing family-friendly, live entertainment at Bon Secours Wellness Arena since 2010. 31 Days of Horror - Day 12 - Blood Rage
12/10/23
Every so often, I will come across a slasher that is intrinsically weird - they’re usually low budget, sleazy and have a plethora of interesting characters through their acting. For me, this is one of my favourite type of slashers - wider known examples include Sleepaway Camp and Friday The Thirteenth: Part 5, but also extend to far more hidden gems, such as Bloody Birthday, all of which are personal favourites of mine. Blood Rage too fits into this category perfectly!
After my long day, I found it so liberating and lovely to sit with the cat I am looking after and watch this delight of a film :) I actually found this one uploaded in its entirety on Facebook, which feels very apt for the film!
Blood Rage follows a family consisting of a mother and two twin boys, one of whom was framed for murder by the other and has spent his life in a psychiatric hospital. At the same time the framed brother Todd escapes, Terry’s murderous urges are reawakened by thoughts of his mothers remarriage. Before discussing the long list of things I loved about this film, I will say that the relationship between Terry and his mother Maddy is one of my least favourite elements! The oedipal twist on their mother and son relationship really just didn’t work for me - never is it addressed at any length, which is likely better, but also just leads to a few uncomfortable sequences, such as where the two kiss in a way that is definitely not appropriate for a mother and son.
Every character in this film makes a statement, they are played excellently by their actors, and left deeply strong impressions on me from the moment they appeared on screen, to the few minutes later when they were subsequently murdered. Firstly, I will discuss how amazing the performance is by Mark Soper, who plays both twins, who are distinctively different characters, and there is never a moment where you are unsure by looking at them who is who, largely helped by Soper’s physical acting. Secondly, Louisse Lasser is excellent as their mother; everytime the scene shifts to focus on her, we are met with a delightful vignette of how she is coping with the news of her escaped son. That also reminds me, that I think the set design of her kitchen is gorgeous and fits her character immaculately - the dingy yellow that bathes the location left such a stark mark on me, it feels deeply homely and linked to her character.
All of the side characters are a joy too, everyone puts in an amazing performance before their deaths, and I loved every moment of watching them! Something like this is so set apart from so many other slashers, because sure, I don't care loads that these characters will die, but they all leave an impression and are fun to watch before they die! Essentially, despite being a slasher, the film allows us to have fun moments between kills, and I adore that about it.
Beyond having extremely fun characters, the film also has surprisingly gorey and fun kills! As far as my favourite kills go, the first one comes to mind to begin with - the realisation as to how gorey the film is, and how fun the kills are definitely helps this! As well as this one, I like Brad's death, where his hand is chopped off, and we see the can in his hand still being squeezed afterwards. However, my favourite kill is definitely Dr. Berman’s, who is sliced in half, with her torso still moving after her death. I mentioned it slightly in my Martyr’s discussion, but I adore how fun this film is with its kills, and how that greatly juxtaposes the other movie I watched in the day.
I also feel it necessary to discuss how amazing the score for this one is! Composer Richard Einhorn uses a lot of techno sounds for it, and everytime it crescendos, I could feel myself getting super excited! As well as this, it just pairs so excellently with the film’s tone, and while I’ve never celebrated Thanksgiving, the holiday the film is set during, I certainly will always associate it with the music in the film!
I have very little else to say about this film, except for reiterating how much I love it! Sure, not everything makes sense during the movie, but I can suspend my disbelief for it because of just how much fun every scene in this is, aside from the occasional dull moment.
Truly, I hope to never run out of weird films like this one, because they have such a perfect charm to them! I can’t not fall in love with this film when it is so fun! Slashers are at their best when they are deeply strange, and filled with fun kills, and Blood Rage delivers on that tenfold!

WAYS TO IMPRESS COLLEGE ADMISSION TEAM
Tumblr media
By Brig. (Dr.) Ajay Mehta (Prof Human Resources at JK Business School, Gurgaon)
Studying in a well-reputed college is the steppingstone towards a good career ahead. Colleges are known not only for its infrastructure, but its lineage, pedagogy and above all the opportunities it provides for career prospects.
Over 3 lakhs prospective candidates of CAT/MAT are vying to secure an entry in the top 50 or 60 colleges pan India each having a capacity of 120 or soper batch. On a rough estimate, there are approximately 3,500 plus management colleges of varying pedigree. Simple statistics show that competition is stiff and the students need to make a mark on the admission team to secure a seat in a college of repute. As it is often quoted ‘You cannot get a second chance to make the first impression’
So, what to do!!!!!
Usually good colleges follow a two/three tier selection process, which includes an initial talk with the admission counsellors, followed by a short written aptitude to see your analytical and written expression, a group discussion and finally culminating into a interaction with a panel of faculty or one senior faculty member. So, if this is the menu let’s see how we can go about this business of business school.
Prepare yourself well for the management aptitude test which ever you decide. The late planners land up in a soup usually landing up in colleges which they regret later. Some of these exams are CAT/MAT/NMAT/CMAT and their likes. While some are college specific, the first three cover a large spectrum of colleges pan India. Getting a good score is important as this is the first impression the college gets about a student’s academic acumen, besides the scores obtained in school and graduation.
Your preliminary action with college admission team-Be polite and ask relevant questions related to pedagogy, curriculum, fee structure, hostel facilities etc. Get a date for visiting the college or request for Skype /Video/Telephonic interview depending on your schedule. Make sure you are available at the scheduled date and time. Opportunity missed is opportunity lost.
Preparing yourself for interaction – Whether distance or physically interview, ensure you are decently attired.
Keep abreast with your domain knowledge. You may not be able recall all the answers, but not replying to any, will leave a poor impression. Professionalism is judged by a good technical knowledge too.
General awareness is more important than anything else. Businesses are affected by geopolitical development across the world, and saying that you are not interested in political matters or matters of governance, does not show you in good light. This knowledge will help you in your group discussions too.
Hobbies and interests-Merely listing out a few of them in your resume just to impress is most counterproductive action students often do. If you have shown interest in a game then a little knowledge about the rules, some records, important players, its popularity in the country etc shows your ability to go into details. Same goes for music, movies etc.
Ask informed questions-The chat with faculty should be interactive. Read the website and keep a few questions ready on subjects like career prospects, course contents and its value, personality development etc. It impresses the admission team to admit a well-informed student with a questioning mind. Avoid asking packages and remunerations.
In the end a pragmatic and pleasant demeanour scores over other shortcomings. Keep a positive attitude and you can surely secure a place for yourself in your two year journey of learning and earning.
