adhd reigen not in a “hes so goofy and silly” way but in a “he has a tendency to hyperfixate on things then drop them the moment he gets bored, has trouble forming genuine relationships with people because he’s so dedicated to making himself likable, is terrified of rejection and actively self sabotages to avoid it” kinda way

I don't know if I'm an outlier in this aspect but whenever a media has a dead or absent character and they kind of play them up as a perfect good individual to intensify the tragedy of their loss or absence, i kind of wish they fleshed them out a little bit more. Because then it starts to feel less than human? I know they're not meant to be relatable but it feels so much more tragic to me when you have a character which had hopes and dreams and flaws now gone from the Main Character(s) lives. A character who all they do is "I do good thing" but has no interests or anything that drives them just isn't as interesting to me, but I am picky. I dunno. Then I don't feel so bad when they're dead or absent because they didn't feel like a person at all and more like someone characters idolize over?? If that makes sense. I have this issue with some romances as well where one of the love interests is severely less developed than the main character and they're only there to be this...perfect untouchable being that the hero idolizes. I know sometimes old stories would have that trope but it's never been my favorite

just saw someone on reddit say that 'it's not their place to say' whether or not Gilead is wrong for using women as baby factories because 'they don't live in the fictional world it takes place in'
nobody is allowed to say english classes are "useless" anymore because how do you get THAT bad at understanding literature.

i havent been active in a typical fandom (besides the onceler/askblog one but its not typical so it doesnt count anyways uh) since like..2016? bc when i tried to dip my toes in the last time i tried, everyone was doing this weird... fanon >>>>>>>>>>>>>> everything and coming up with all these weird rules why you couldnt ship this or that or do this concept or like that and it was AWFUL
it literally put me off of doing fandom at all anymore besides w like friends. anytime i get into anything anymore i just talk to my friends who know it, or want to know it, and that's it

Want to know what really grosses me out in general and also about Stranger Things because I was born and raised in Indiana?
The age of consent is 16.
Yes you read that correctly.
Thats why in season one it 'wasn't made a big deal' that Jonathan took pictures of Nancy and Steve having sex.
And in season two it 'wasn't made a big deal' for Karen, a grown ass married woman, to flirt back with Billy, a kid thats the same age as her eldest child.
And in season three it 'wasn't made a big deal' when the Karen and Billy shit happened again no matter if he was freshly 18 or not, it still would have been legal as long as he was 16 or older. And I'm so glad they didn't put that shit on screen. Hate that Billy got flayed, hate that so much you have no idea. But I would have hated it even more if things had gone as they'd planned and Karen really did show up to have sex with a kid her daughter's age.
What I'm saying is, it was cool that a nostalgic show took place in my home state not too unlike a town I grew up in. But with choices the duffers made over the seasons, also including the subtle not so subtle implied rasicm and obvious homophobia and ignorant satanic paranoia and blatant child abuse (that all very much still happens today), it makes me think that the only reason they chose a conservative Midwestern state was so they could get away with writing all that bullshit.
And if it wasn't for some of the actors pushing for better dialog and situations and basically twisting their arms for different scenes and refusing to do others, this show wouldn't have lasted this long. Because we'd have been watching the same overused and small-minded stereotypes and tropes from decades ago and have stopped watching.
So, does learning the age of consent in Indiana make you even more aware of how many scenes in Stranger Things gives me the heebie jeebies?
Thought so.

sometimes i wonder abt what ppl who don't act right to others online are thinking. i just can't understand people going out of their way to start problems with others for no reason. do they think the people theyre harassing wont remember them, do they not care, or are they just stupid lol

Occasionally, I feel like starting a service where people with depression or insecurities hire me so I can treat them gently and help them realize it's not actually as bad as they think. Or like where I help them get used to touch again. Where I ask if it's okay before doing anything. And they can realize they're safe. Something like that. Like a therapy human for humans but not in terms of clinical therapy but more in terms of helping them trust humans again. I could speak very softly even. And tell them it's gonna be okay. Idk. Is that valuable? Would people want that? I could make them little snacks even?
