Paranormal Star Review
Title: Urban Academy #3 Semester 3
Author: Mazzy J. March
Pages:101
Rating:⭐⭐⭐(3/5)
Synopsis: There’s someone after me. My body knows. My senses know. They are after me, and they won’t stop until I succumb. I have enough going on without this new facet of my life. I have three guys who all are trying to claim me in one way or the other. I have school. I have a job at the bar, and, I still fill in at night for the academy, as their janitor. Then there’s the suitemate who reminds me that I’m human every five seconds. Some days I think we’re friends. Others, I lock my door at night. It’s our thing. My scent is getting me in trouble. Yeah, I knew that shifters scented their mate in different ways, but I’m attracting a whole hell of a lot more than shifters.
Jinns, warlocks, demons, shifters, and vampires alike are flocking to the bar for a look and maybe a grab at what one alpha called the new, ripe peach in the Moonlight. I’m wearing the amulet Josephine told me to but it doesn’t seem to deter the perverts. Being walked home by Storm, someone attacks us. I scream. I flail. I trip, fall and hit my head. I see blood on my hands and hear ringing in my ears. Whoever has been stalking me has finally caught their prey–and their prey is me. I was just about ready to accept Storm as my second mate…but I may have waited too long.

First, a big thank you to everyone that’s supported Iron Circus’ Failure to Launch anthology and my contribution “The Second Extinction of the Pyrenean Ibex” by pledging, sharing & liking our posts, or just checking out the campaign! We’re halfway through the funding period, so I wanted to share some updates on tumblr.
The biggest news is that we made it to our goal and are now working on stretch goals and creator bonus payments! We’ve already gotten to our first stretch goal--upgrading the covers with a fancy effect--and are now onto the second: a PDF full of bonus comics for all backers. Can we reach them all?
Next, Failure to Launch has been quite a bit of press, including outlets running exclusive previews of some of the comics included! Want to see what this anthology’s about, really “try before you buy”? Check out these stories of failure below:
AIPT Comics: “The World Turns” by Barbara Mazzi, about apocalypses that didn’t happen.
Screenrant: “When Do We Get Our Star Trek Future?” by J. Dalton, about the hollow promises of sci-fi economics.
Boing Boing: “Lead Balloon” by Katie Tiedrich, about adding deadly chemicals to gasoline for fun and profit.
Comics Beat: “Rats” by Ryan Estrada and Aarón Cruz, about a stage magician getting into a fight with the father of the radio over the future of wireless technology (it’s wild).
Geek Vibes Nation: “Zigurats” by André Valenté, about a totally-not-a-cult in Brazil that’s trying to psychically communicate with aliens and prove the world is not flat, but convex.
Vol. 1 Brooklyn: “Magic City, All of Fire” by Evan Dahm, about the secret history of Coney Island.
Fangirl Nation: “The Pasilalinic Sympathetic Compass” by Maddi Gonzalez and Alice Woods, about using telepathic snails to communicate long-distance (I’m serious!).
Popverse: “CGIdol” by Victor Santiago and Bolu Oriowo, about the pitfalls of trying to create a virtual pop star.
Polygon: “The First Union” by Harry ‘Hbomberguy’ Brewis and Skutch, about the true story behind the Luddities.
Wow! That’s a lot of comics! Once you’re done with these, check out the Failure to Launch BackerKit page and consider pledging before the campaign ends on March 9th.

They say there?s nothing wrong with me, but I can?t walk.At least not more than a couple of feet at a time. Like from bed to my wheelchair.I crawled out of the wreckage of our family car seconds before it burst into flame at the base of the cliff, killing my parents. I screamed my lungs raw for help, even though I knew they couldn?t be saved, but nobody came for nearly twenty-four hours. It rained, and I shivered in the chill, the scent of burned upholstery and other things filling my nose. My aunt cared for me for a short while, but when she also died in an accident?a house fire that nearly took me out as well?I was placed in the care of a hired nurse who made sure I took my meds and waited on me hand and foot. Over time I lost what little strength I had, until I never left my room, almost bedridden, my only contact with the outside world online classes. But when I turned eighteen, I had to make a change or I?d end up dying here, old and alone and without any hope. So now I have my

favorite bands: Gorillaz, The Everly Brothers, The Platters, Pink Floyd, The Black Keys, any sixties or seventies era rock band, Glass Animals, Alt-J, Mazzy Star, The Ink Spots, Cherry Glazerr, The Doors, so so many others that I’m getting overwhelmed thinking about it

song stuck in my head: The Hello My Baby, Hello My Honey song that frog with the top hat sings.  Hahah help 🙃
last movie: Revenge of the Sith - Christmas is Star Wars time
last show: The Haunting of Hill House.  I just watched it twice in a row bc i’m obsessed and also scared
when did i create this blog: 2019?  I think
what do i post: writing stuffs, cool art other super talented ppl have made, gifs of my current fixations usually
last thing googled: what the name of the hello my baby hello my honey frog was - he doesn’t have a name, i guess :(
other blogs: i don’t have any others!  well, I think I made one years ago but i don’t even remember the name of it
do i get asks: very occasionally but i love it when i do!  they’re fun!
why i chose my url: um well tiesthatbind is my ao3 name.  i wish i didn’t have to add the 1899 on the end, but tiesthatbind was taken.  so 1899 is from red dead.  idk where tiesthatbind came from.  i just like that phrase.
following: i have no clue :/  i don’t look - but a lot probably

dream trip: out west in America.  And Argentina.  Anywhere in Europe, too.  Anywhere, actually.  My answer is anywhere.  The bar is low.
favorite food: bar is low once again - anything.  my favorite thing ever though is probably steak.
nationality: American
favorite song: i’m really loving “Daydream” by Wallace Collection which is like a super 60′s song that reminds me of creepy cults
last book read: last book read and finished? The Shining by Stephen King.  last book that I just picked up and read a few pages? The Haunting of Hill House by Shirley Jackson - I’m in a spooky mood.
top three fictional universes i’d like to live in: Jeez man all the fictional universes i love, i would definitely get killed in - like RDR2′s universe?  I would die instantly.  I guess... if we’re talking universes I could survive in that would be Animal Crossing bc you can’t die.  Maybe Star Wars, but like a peaceful planet... or like Coruscant bc even though I probably couldn’t survive, it’s a cool planet.  I like the noir aspects of the lower levels.  And i’d like to live in Vampire: The Masquerade Bloodlines universe for like a few nights and then i’d be out there too.
It was so cool to read everyone else’s responses to these.  I’m not gonna tag twenty people, but i encourage anyone who wants to do it, do it!  and i’m specifically tagging @electriicfleur, @alwaysupatnight, @reddeaddufus, @bayek-of-sivva, @odddragon if y’all haven’t already done this!

Paranormal Star Review
Title: Urban Academy #2 Semester 2
Author: Mazzy J. March
Pages: 127
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5)
Synopsis: I ran across the country to give myself a new start, a new life–I never thought it would end up like this. One week I’m a janitor for the Urban Academy, a place rich in things that go bump in the night, including someone who I swear turned from a human to a beast right outside the window. The headmistress knows what I saw and her reaction was to give me a free ride to this college and make me sign a peculiar NDA. Doesn’t matter. I’m getting a free education, room, and board, instead of working myself to the bone to afford a tiny apartment and some scraps of food. The only thing left is to figure out what the hell they are teaching in class and catch up, plus, I have a crush on the guy who turned into the monster. And maybe one or two others… That may be a problem.

Title: Ridgewood Rogue Wolves Saga #4 Restored
Author: Mazzy J. March
Pages:107
Rating:⭐⭐⭐⭐(4/5)
Synopsis:
My life before the pack lands sucked donkey butt but since I’ve moved here things have gotten much better. I’ve mated with Andrew and Neville, and they are building a house so they can all live together. With a mentor in Lynn and a friend in Jeannie, a job I love, I’ve got everything I ever dreamed of and more.
Except him…
One of my mates is not an easy, smooth connection. One day he’s warm and kind and friendly, the next it’s like he doesn’t even know me. Now I know why. Vincent is two men. Or rather Vincent and Vance are two men. Until I am fully mated with Vincent, my wolf will never settle down.
My wolf has just informed me that she wants them both. Brothers who have not spoken in a decade with the exception of Vincent telling Vance to keep away from me.

Paranormal Star Review
Title: Semester One
Author: Mazzy J. March
Pages: 104
Rating:⭐⭐⭐(3/5)
Synopsis:Everything will work out. But that’s hard to believe when I can barely afford a hot, tiny apartment that reeks of whiskey and has a floor vibrating with music from the bar downstairs most nights. Not to mention the loud laughter and occasional rattle of the walls from brawls that make me check my door lock and huddle under the quilt my late mother made for me. The pub is frequented by rough types as well as people from the local university where I work for a pittance. Joe, short for Josephine, my landlady, has offered me a job downstairs, but so far I’ve held out. Unless something else comes up, I’m going to have to accept the offer, but I’m not sure I have the fortitude to deal with what I can barely tolerate at a distance. When my folks died, my sister and brother-in-law took me in, but they had things to work out in their marriage and were offered the opportunity of a lifetime. Move to Fiji and work mostly from home while living right on the beach. Sounded like a cure for divorce to me. When my sister looked at me with hope in her eyes, I did the only thing I could. Lie. I told them I had an opportunity of my own and needed to move across the country to pursue it. Convenient. Right? One night, a growl louder than my empty tummy snaps my attention to the window outside the classroom I’m mopping. I peek through the blinds to find a massive gray wolf with the bluest eyes staring right at me. A wolf in the heart of the city? The wolf’s form shimmers, muscles and bones twisting and reshaping into a man with those same eyes, and, when I come to a while later, there’s no sign of the animal or its aftermath. Skipping dinner must have been a mistake. So much for surviving on my own.
