Mediacorp’s TV Dramas Are A Poison to Society. Just Look at Third Rail.

I’m currently watching the Singapore TV drama Third Rail, which is basically what happens when someone takes the premise of The Taking of Pelham One-Two-Three and make it a vile, unwatchable mess.

How vile is it? Well, “extra-judicial summary executions are a justifiable punishment for molest” kind of vile.

Yes, molest is a horrible crime, one where the offenders do need to be punished for. But there is no crime anywhere in the world - even the most vile and horrific crimes against humanity - where extra-judicial summary executions are even warranted, let alone justifiable.

And yet, this freaking Mediacorp TV drama just heavily implied that such a punishment is justifiable for the crime.

The disgust I have is indescribable.

There’s even more idiotic things in this TV drama, like the amount of idiotic plot twists that even M. Night Shyamalan on crack wouldn’t come up with, or the appropriation of the wealth gap/class divide issue as plot points.

Who the fuck came up with this… well, calling it garbage is probably insulting to garbage because even garbage can be made useful by burning (for energy) or decomposition (to make fertiliser or to produce energy). All I know is this is even worse than garbage.

And how did Land Transport Authority of Singapore and SMRT Corporation approve of this mess, to the point of even giving them two retired MRT train cars to film this mess in?

I have so many questions.

No sane company or organisation should ever be materially supporting any Mediacorp production ever again.

I think they formed in 2019. The members are: Elspeth Ong-Vocal/Gtr, JJ Tan-Gtr, Paul Yuen-Bass, Badrul Amin-Synth/Vocal/Gtr, and Jolin Chiam-Drums 2 singles and the debut album Remember A Stranger. (produced by Snakeweed Studios’ Leonard Soosay) released in 2022
