One episode into Missing Crown Prince aka a drama definition of mid, and I finally understand all those people who used to loathe watching Jin Se Yeon in otherwise OK dramas.
This is the second time I’ve seen Hong Yeji in a drama (both sageuks) and she’s just such a wooden actress and one I personally do not even find attractive so that doesn’t even compensate this way.

i really like writing about boring people. i like putting the most mid guy in existence next to the protagonist suffering from glorious purpose. here is a guy with no special skills, no blessings from the narrative, no outlandish identifying traits. and he can be just as interesting as the other guy as long as you make him feel real. banality is sublime to me.
Missing Crown Prince has the bones of an interesting story but in addition to all the acting being strictly community theater level, the script is...it's like Cliffs' Notes in drama form, it skips over EVERYTHING randomly. As a result it lurches, lost in a sea of boring, unlikeable, uncharismatic characters.
