Concerning Ethiopia
1 Ha! land shadowing with wings, which art beyond the rivers of Cush, 2 that sendest ambassadors over the sea, and in vessels of papyrus upon the waters, saying, Go, swift messengers, to a nation scattered and ravaged, to a people terrible from their existence and thenceforth; to a nation of continued waiting and of treading down, whose land the rivers have spoiled!
3 All ye inhabitants of the world, and dwellers on the earth, when a banner is lifted up on the mountains, see ye, and when a trumpet is blown, hear ye!
4 For thus hath Jehovah said unto me: I will take my rest, and I will observe from my dwelling-place like clear heat upon herbs, like a cloud of dew in the heat of harvest.
5 For before the harvest, when the blossoming is over, and the flower becometh a ripening grape, he shall both cut off the sprigs with pruning-knives, and take away and cut down the branches.
6 They shall be left together unto the mountain birds of prey, and to the beasts of the earth; and the birds of prey shall summer upon them, and all the beasts of the earth shall winter upon them.
7 In that time shall a present be brought unto Jehovah of hosts of a people scattered and ravaged, and from a people terrible from their existence and thenceforth, a nation of continued waiting and of treading down, whose land the rivers have spoiled, … to the place of the name of Jehovah of hosts, the mount Zion. — Isaiah 18 | Literal Emphasis Translation (LET) The Literal Emphasis Bible is in the public domain. Scripture of the Day - March 8, 2024 Day of The Lord, Day of The Lord’s Anger [Eighth in a Series, from the KJV of the Bible]
THE Day of The Lord by Prophet Joel, Continued:
Joel 3:11-17  Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither ‘cause thy mighty ones to come down, O Lord. ‘Let the heathen be wakened, and come up’ to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great. Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the DAY OF THE LORD is near in the valley of decision.
The sun and the moon shall be darkened, and the stars shall withdraw their shining. The Lord also shall ROAR* out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the Lord will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel. So shall ye know that I am the Lord your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
*Roar - Isaiah 42:13, Jeremiah 25:30, Joel 3:16, Amos 1:2
The Day of The Lord by Amos:
Amos 5:18 -20  Woe unto you that desire the DAY OF THE LORD! to what end is it for you? the DAY OF THE LORD is darkness, and not light. As if a man did flee from a lion, and a bear met him; or went into the house, and leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him. Shall not the DAY OF THE LORD be darkness, and not light? even very dark, and no brightness in it?
The Day of The Lord by Obadiah:
Obadiah 1:15-17  For the DAY OF THE LORD is near upon all the heathen: as thou hast done, it shall be done unto thee: thy reward shall return upon thine own head. For as ye have drunk upon my holy mountain, so shall all the heathen drink continually, yea, they shall drink, and they shall swallow down, and they shall be as though they had not been. But upon mount Zion shall be deliverance, and there shall be holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions.

The Journey from Merit to Mercy
18 For you have not come to what may be touched, a blazing fire and darkness and gloom and a tempest 19 and the sound of a trumpet and a voice whose words made the hearers beg that no further messages be spoken to them. 20 For they could not endure the order that was given, “If even a beast touches the mountain, it shall be stoned.” 21 Indeed, so terrifying was the sight that Moses said, “I…

#8 Mount Zion
It is known that Mary spent the remainder of her days after the crucifixion in the household of the apostle John: From the cross Jesus gave the care of his mother to his youngest apostle, John, and the care of John to his mother. This is what the Gospel of John records: “Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.  When Jesus saw…

Psalm 125:1 Be Unmovable
Those who trust in the Lord are like Mount Zion, which cannot be moved, but abides forever. Psalm 125:1 Mountains are one thing that do not appear to ever move. Parts of a mountain may crumble and fall down, but the mountain as a whole never moves from its beginning location. It has a solid foundation on which it stands, that will last forever, unlike shifting sand dunes in a desert. Sand is…

The Mountain of the House of the LORD
1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem: 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days that the mountain of the LORD'S house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it. 3 And many people shall go and say, "Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in His paths." For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem. 4 And He shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. 5 O house of Jacob, come ye and let us walk in the light of the LORD. 6 For Thou hast forsaken Thy people, the house of Jacob, because they are replenished from the East, and are soothsayers like the Philistines; and they please themselves with the children of strangers. 7 Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots. 8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made. 9 And the lowly man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself; therefore forgive them not. 10 Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of the LORD and for the glory of His majesty. 11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down; and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day. 12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up--and he shall be brought low" 13 and upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan; 14 and upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up; 15 and upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall; 16 and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant sights. 17 And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low; and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day, 18 and the idols He shall utterly abolish. 19 And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of the LORD and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 20 In that day a man shall cast away his idols of silver and his idols of gold (which he made each one for himself to worship) to the moles and to the bats, 21 to go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of the LORD and for the glory of His majesty, when He ariseth to shake terribly the earth. 22 Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for of what account is he? — Isaiah 2 | Third Millennium Bible (TMB) Third Millennium Bible, New Authorized Version, Copyright 1998 by Deuel Enterprises, Inc. City of our God
Psalm 48: 1-2.  Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised in the city of our God, in the mountain of His holiness. Beautiful for situation, the joy of the whole earth, is mount Zion, on the sides of the north, the city of the great King. I remember, more years ago than I care to count, learning this lovely chorus in the church we were attending. It became a great favorite. I love singing…
