I decided to outline some of the symbols found in the Foreign Princess's necklace. Just a heads up, this is related to a previous post I made about Lunari heritage in Zaun, and the presence of the Lunari in Arcane's Runeterra.

On the left is how the the center jewel and inner crescent of the circle makes the crest of the Lunari people as depicted by the aspect of the moon Diana. On the right is the outer arch of the necklace makes the outline of Mt. Targon, while the clasp holding the pendant is engraved with the mythical gates that appear at the peak of the mountain.

I would argue that the 6 red half circles on the are supposed to represent the 3 moons that exist in Arcane's Runeterra. Why the moons and the center jewel are red is a whole other post on what's going on in Arcane's Ionia I'm drafting about.

Kayle, Basic Headcanons

°Kayle currently is wandering the world after training in solitude for centuries in Mt. Targon.

°The Juridicator can literally see all the crimes you have commited when she lays eyes on you. She doesn’t see why or if it was justified, just that you did them, and that is all she needs for judgement.

°She has a pact of non-agression and non-interference with Morgana, which means she won’t be razing any towns or delivering judgement at a mass scale until her sister decides to make herself known to the world.

°She will still defend herself and absolutely obliterate anyone who harms or gets in her way.

°There’s a connection between the sisters that’s quite literal, making her easy to locate Morgana anywhere in the world.

Since everyone is currently losing their minds over Spider-CaitVi, allow me to introduce my own Marvel AU:

Captain America Leona (Captain Solari?)

Leona is chosen for a supersoldier program where she is infused with the power of Mt. Targon to fight back the forces of darkness. She gest awesome sun-powers, the muscle-mommy build she deserves, and a sword and shield that are as unbreakable as her convictions.

Diana is the lead scientist on the project, and immediately gets The Gay.

Angst ensues when Leona has to sacrifice herself to save the world from Black Mist/Void corruption/whatever bombs. She promises Diana to meet her to dance next Saturday before crashing. However, the field of True Ice she lands in preserves her, time-capsuling her into the modern world, where she has trouble fitting in with technology and changing cultural values. Eventually she ends up joining a team of other heroes to defend the planet, all the while wishing for a way to go back to her own life.

She's a herbo with a heart of gold who gets teased for being the moral compass of the Avengers, but her unwavering beliefs help keep Jayce-Iron Man in line whenever he decides "science can fix everything". She refuses to give up on Rell, who was also time-capsuled (and also has The Gay for Leona), and is willing to stick her neck for her friend out when the world is convinced the Iron Maiden is an agent for the Black Rose.

Literally this is just my excuse to have Leona stare angstily at Diana's picture in her locket until they manage to invent time-travel in Endgame.

Noelle looks through the library for information on Mt. Targon and stellacorns. Her interactions with one at Cait's home may have given her a lead she wants to pursue.

"...she said that supposedly they could grant wishes...and that locals learned a way to make some kind of potion that could change aspects of reality..." She mumbles to herself, writing notes and looking for more information.

Targon was a bit of a mystery to her. Everything she'd heard about it was that it was a dangerous and difficult climb, but her friends who had been there say there are areas of calm and small villages. Would it be worth taking a trip there? Or would that be too dangerous?

Lunari Heritage in Zaun

This is gonna be a reach, but from the little we've seen of Vi and Jinx's mom and younger Silco, I'd guess they were both from the same ethnic group.

In a place like Zaun, where the people are left with scraps, any piece of jewelry sticks out. Vi's mom and Silco are both wearing similar pieces of jewelry. Silco's bracelet could likely be fitted as a necklace since it twice wraps over his wrist. Neither are wearing anything of high quality, but the necklace and bracelet in their respective pictures seem decently maintained if not worn. That's when I thought, these are probably heirlooms.

In fact they looked pretty similar too, but in smaller scale of the princess's own pendants. I wouldn't bring this up if it weren't for the fact that Piltovans prioritize elaborate art-deco aesthetics, the more elaborately geometric the better (Councilor Shoola). So you would assume even the simplest jewelry would be a square pendant or a straight line. But no, big plain circles, and then I remembered we saw that before, on the princess Ambessa killed. Big bronze circles.

And when we look at young Vi , you notice that she's wearing jewelry too. A simple necklace with a green (it looks green) gem. And I realized that the princess's necklace was also adorned green gems.

I'm pulling from scraps, but it's interesting that small things these Zaunites have to adorn themselves (though not for long with the time skips) are similar versions if not simpler version's of the princess's.

At first I thought this meant that many of the cast were actually of Ionian descent. But then in the Princess's scene a thought kept coming back to me, "Why is Mel wearing purple?". Mel, a skilled diplomat from a young age, typically wears the main colors of the nations she hosts and is hosted by. White for Piltover, Black for Noxus (Ambessa), and always with her signature accents of gold. So if Mel followed her mother to Ionia ,where green is a culturally significant color, why purple? It's because Mel and Ambessa weren't in Ionia, they were in Targon fighting the Lunari.

The Lunari are Rakkor tribal people in the Targonian region who worship the moon, and are persecuted for it by the Solari, the religious order that worships the sun. While technically Mt. Targon is influenced by Mt. Olympus and Greek mythology aesthetic, that's more the case for the Solari. Overtime the Lunari aesthetic has been mixed it's originally nomadic culture with East Asian influences. The prominent colors of the Lunari happen to be turquoise, silver, black and purple. It was such a little thing to remember but it made me see connections I hadn't thought about.

Suddenly everything starts to connect. The bronze coins represent the 3 moons that exist in Arcane's Runeterra. How do we know there are 3 moons, because the Valdiani piece Jinx stole was depicting their planet. In the Valdiani there are 3 orbits circling the Earth, meaning 3 moons (or satelites). Now the engraving on the gold of the princess's necklace makes sense, because it's supposed to resemble the gates at the peak of Mt. Targon. The pendant itself is shaped like the mountain with the gates fitted at the top.

Frankly, it works for the Princess to have been Lunari and waves of descendants of the Lunari to arrive in Piltover and end up in Zaun. In Arcane, Piltover was created as a safe haven to escape the Rune Wars 200 years from the start of the show. Even after the Rune Wars ended the shipping port has likely seen waves of migrant labor and refugees from the ongoing crisis that occur in Runeterra (*cough*Noxus*cough*). It's likely that many of the current generation of Zaunites are of mixed heritage of the various fleeing people's.

It creates a whole new dynamic of the ways in which Piltover's laws, their Ethos, strips the people of Zaun from their identity and reducing them to tools for the mines. Magic is inherently a part of religious ceremonies and religion in general in Runeterra, especially for the Lunari. How do you practice your religion in a place that has banned the means by which it's conducted? There must have been more people like the Lunari who didn't have a problem with their magic, their problem was that they were being persecuted.

The remnants of family keepsakes brought over as communities fled were clung to as best as possible especially as they had to let go of part their spiritual identity. But even that doesn't seem to have lasted either. Vi doesn't keep her necklace, her mother is dead, so lost is her necklace, and we never see Silco wear his bracelet. They could have been stolen, or at best, hidden for safe keeping, maybe Enforcers get suspicious at the hint of mysticism and suddenly they want to talk.

Finally, maybe a little less related, it is interesting how prominent Piltovans and Zaunites take on day and night aspects. The sun shines over Piltover at their best, begins to set at times of uncertainty. While in the cover of night with moon above, the strongest Zaunites strike hardest. One more thing, it is interesting how Arcane's Jinx has taken on darker tones of purple rather than stick with neon pink. I always have to go back and look at a reference to remember that her pants are purple-er than I recall.

Update: I wanted to include that the large doodle Jinx made on her cup actually looks similar to the Lunari's sigil. And the sigil remains on the cup into the timeskip, also the center moon is made smaller within the crescent like in the necklace. I also noticed Jinx's cup later has more violent bomb imagery around it.

trying to write main and hs phel a bit more different bc i feel them sort of fusing into 1 which i don't like-- i enjoy their dichotomy and i think the contrast between them are what make the different verses so interesting. this is sort of a reminder to myself and to others that runeterra phel is not easy to get along with nor does he actively try to do so. though he is less strict with himself now that he's away from mt. targon in search of diana, he still needs to hold himself to lunari warrior standards, and just like the moon and night, he's cold and silent. acting otherwise only poses him as a danger to their discovery as a supposedly lost peoples; he would never talk about his mission nor his reason for wandering ionia and he would never actively ask for help in his journey.

Here’s my gal, Morraine! She’s a targonian yordle that delivers items no matter how powerful to their owners. She uses this fallen bell (it suspends things in warm spring water!) as her bag to carry it across the crags.

Don’t be mistaken, she’s no poppy or Tristana. While she used to be a devoted follower of the celestials, over centuries of wear and tear she’s become a slight bit jaded. She’s stubborn and loyal but she will also be a sassy little lady. She acts older than poppy, like one of those diner ladies that calls you hon, world weary but does her job. She acts like an overbearing mother sometimes (most of the time), Jersey accent and all. We’ve got so many old men yordles, old lady yordles can be a comedy gold mine! She views humans generally as children and can be a bit protective about her favorites.

She views the solari lunari struggle as pointless bickering. She hasn’t ever ascended she just has the audacity to call them out every once in a while, (she views ascension for herself as the biggest act of heresy she could commit) also she holds the church bell by physics mostly, the gold tips at the end being counterweights . She doesn’t understand technology, she doesn’t travel to bandle very often unless it’s a delivery for someone not actually in targon anymore.

High School Au

@thegolden-tigress​ came up with an idea and together we ironed it out a bit, so here we have the regions from Runeterra as High Schools!

Demacia: Prestigious military school, where most of its students end up in an official army.

Noxus: Less prestigious military school, most of its students work as mercenaries or for POCs.

Ionia: Prestigious school that was almost bought out by Noxus, now there are reforms going out that half the students approve and half the students rebel against.

Freljord: a strict military school where if you don't have consisent good grades you get kicked out

Ixtal: Private Catholic school, mostly latinos.

Piltover: Private school, most people are rich.

Zaun: Down the street from Piltover, public school filled with delinquents.

Bilgewater: Naval school, strict but filled with students that cause problems.

Shadow Isles: Abandoned school, where delinquents meet.

Shurima:Ex-private school that became public, used to be prestigious but lost most of it.

Mt Targon: School that’s outside of town far away, but most of its students are zealous about how good it is. Cult

Void: Juvie, prison school for those teenagers who committed a crime.

Bandle City: a school recognize for its genius but also insane students

Some cool ideas we came out with too:

Kai’sa was framed as a child, thats why she studied in juvie for a while but remains a peach.

Sett used to go to the Noxus school for a while because of his dad but after he left, he went back to Ionia school, shortly after the reforms, where the new emphasis in sports made him a star

Vi entered Piltover because of a scholarship and Caitlyn was charged by the director to find a excuse to kick her out, but instead now personally helps her and protects her.

Diana is really tired of her school’s cult shit.
