What was Tab’s motivation for starting the company? (Also, what’s his secret to getting big?)

Tabitha, in this timeline, felt unfulfilled by his work in the wake of the crisis involving Primal Groudon & Kyogre. As a former Devon Corporation top researcher he felt it was beneath him to perform the mundane calculations required to repair the damage he, and the rest of Team Magma had wrought. To his credit he stayed with Team Magma and did his due diligence. He invented a device to help prevent unstable tectonic activity in the vicinity of Mt.Chimney, which were caused by his attempts to synthesize a Mega Stone for Groudon.

His desire for recognition swelled beyond his sycophantic desire to please Maxie. He left the team on amicable grounds and through a series of undisclosed deals, set up his own research laboratory on a small island off the Eastern Hoenn coastline. Its name, TechTonne Labs, derives from the word tectonic (a word symbolic of his past with Team Magma) and tonne (referring to the weight, as he wants the weight of his genius to be felt throughout the world).

His first market-ready product was a mass produced Magma Suit, which he sold at inflated prices to rival labs and research bodies. Without it they couldn't investigate the cavern Primal Groudon inhabited, or study the composition of Mt.Chimney safely.

The initial success... may have gone to his head.

And the money, to his waistline.

"Number 62!"

A meek man in a white lab coat underpinned by the thermalwear all TechTonne researchers wore crept into the room. He looked up at Tabitha, with reverence, of course. How could anyone look upon the magnificence of Tabitha's body, and not feel humbled?

Tabitha had swelled to grandiose proportions in the years since he established TechTonne. He was still an average heighted man, but the sheer width of his body gave him the looming presence of a creature far bigger. Like an Electrike that somehow possessed the intimidating aura of a Gyarados. Though some people likened him to a Snorlax, and they were usually sent to the less... 'safety first' areas of the lab for the rest of their tenure.

"The doorways need widened, make a note of it."

"Again T--"

Tabitha scowled. His usually close lidded eyes widened to reveal his crimson stare.

"Right away, oh Great Tabitha."

"That's more like it, and while you're at it, another serving of lava cake," Tabitha tapped his desk counter, where a plate that once held up a decadent chocolate cake filled with gooey melted milk and dark chocolate 'lava' sat. It was licked clean, and Tabitha's stomach, broad and spilled over his lap, growled a warning to the assistant.

The assistant didn't need to be reminded of the punishment that awaited him if he didn't fulfil Tabitha's desires with alacrity.

Tabitha ran a hand over his stomach. His thermalwear one-piece suit stretched tightly over his full chest, belly and hips, it was practically painted on with how it hugged his skin. It contained his corpulence in such a way as to make him resemble a water balloon when he moved. He reclined deeper into his reinforced desk chair, and gave the assistant a dismissive wave.

"A genius cannot think without the appropriate fuel for his magnificent brain. So get me that cake. Off you go, I'm starving."

Honestly I feel it would've been interesting if Maxie didn't use pokemon at all for a good portion of the game. I mean, yes, you don't battle him until later, starting at Mt.Chimney, and yes it probably won't work well mechanically as Archie and Maxie are supposed to be substituted of the other for Ruby and Sapphire. But! From a purely story point of view, Maxie not using pokemon, rather using technology to achieve his goals helps showcase his goal in wanting to help humanity and lack of faith in the whole humans and pokemon can coexist idea. Maxie wants to showcase pure human strength, without the need for Pokemon, and would do that. Of course he still has pokemon, and he still cares for them, despite what he's saying. But Maxie, as we know, is stubborn and wants to prove a point. It's only until the player comes around where he backs down from his personal " use no pokemon just science" rule. ( I hope all of that makes sense).

Eevee is the poster child of how wild and varied a Pokémon can develop depending on it’s enviorment. Though Eevee being a common domesticated as both pets and competive most people are only aware of the more immediate methods of evolution such as with stones, however their evolutions can happen naturally over time.

Naturally, Eevee is an opportunist, able to learn and change based on how they can best survive in their enviorment. For example, I’m from Snowpoint, and it has happened time to time that Eevees that had run off or got lost be found again as Glaceons. Now of course, this is not to say a good alternative to revolve your Eevee is to throw them into the woods for a few weeks and get a Leafeon, but being both hunters and scavengers and can learn very quickly to thrive in their new enviorment. Vaporeon, Leafeon, and Glaceon in particular are fantastic ambushes and as such may be very conferrable in big pools, pile of autumn leaves, and a snow bank respectively.

Now the more concrete elemental revolutions, Vaporeon, Jolteon, Falreon, Glaceon, and Leafeon are much more common to see in the wild. Say in coastal areas both Vaporeon or Jolteon can be found with plenty of bodies of water and more rainy weather with mild storms. Flareon tends to be a bit rearer naturally considering their enviorment not only needs be very hot to engage their need to grow warmer with, but also plentiful resources to thrive with, so deserts are not as optimal as many people think it may be for them. In fact cases of wild Flareon tend to be reported very commonly in main land Hohen surrounding Mt.Chimney with it’s already hot enviorment added on to the volcanic area.

Now Espeon, Umbereon, and Slyveon are Pokemon that are much rearer found in the wild. It is noticed that Espeon and Umberon in particular seem to develop by a strong bond with other. Espeon has been noted that they develop a strong sense of empathy, sympathy, and genreal emotional intlegence which may be what be the source of their psychic powers. In the case of Umberon they seem to have a similar strengths, however they are the result of being more nocturnal and adapted to be a night time predictor and camolage in the darkness. For trainers these two eveolutions are very popular, epically for support pokemon with being able to read their partner’s emotions easily and having the bond to know how to attempt to comfort or aid them. As for in the wild, these two happen to occur when an Eevee pairs up with another Pokémon and develops a strong bond. As such they tend to have more symbiotic relationships, of which vairy between what the relationship is found on. A very common sight between Espoeons and Umbreons is that if you see them in pairs, they are very likely romantic partners and are said to have higher likelyhood of being lifelong partners.

Lastly Sylveon is the most interesting to see in the wild. Out of the evolutions here, Sylveon is one that more people have attempted to groom and raise rather than find. This fairy Pokémon, unlike Espeon and Umberon, does not eveolve nesserely from a bond, but from affection. Although many times a Sylveon has a good relationship to trainers of partners, it is shown they tend to eveolve more when they feel very pampered and comfortable. As such in domestic cases, Sylveon tend to be very common in richer owners and although emotionally aware like Espeon and Umberon, may use it to get attention and how to get it. Many people say they make good support Pokemon, and although true, do not be surprised that after doing their job a Sylveon may be bratty later to get a treat. In the case of the wild however, for a Sylveon to develop they would need to see a Pokemon, or even person, that will give their resources to an Eevee and spoil them a bit. Often cases a Pokemon may want to impress an Eevee to attempt to mate or a relationship and may gift resources to them or grooming to form a symbiotic relationship. There are also cases of people feeding wild Eevees regularly develop into Sylveons.

One of the few things Homura has knowledge about

Homura has extensive knowledge of the performance and symbolism behind burial rites. Being in Johto for the majority of his life, he’s best versed in those but he’s also familiar - if at least aware, of practices in other lands.

Kanto

As far as he’s aware, Kanto practices the standard burial practice of setting the body into the ground, there’s a rumor that all bodies are sent to be buried in Lavender Town, to be among the graves of beloved pokemon, but he hasn’t looked too far into it.

Johto

Northern and Southern regions share similar practices from what he’s seen. The bodies are cremated with a single tree placed over. As the trees grow, wish tags are left within the branches. As the tree grows, it gains more tags, and the ones that grow large enough are wrapped with a Shide - a blessed paper streamer. Though there’s no designated area for the trees to be planted, they’re most commonly seen in the Ilex Forest or nearby the deceased’s family.

Eastern Johto, similarly to most of Hoenn practices burial at sea. The bodies are set adrift. The main difference I’ve seen between Eastern Johto and Hoenn is that Johto has an annual tradition of setting paper boats into the sea with candles.

Western Johto meanwhile cremates the bodies, the ashes are burned atop pyres The wooden towers are left burning for as long as they’ll burn. If the climate extinguishes the flames, they’re left standing and relit the following year.

Central Johto has a display practice, the body is prepared in elaborate clothing, dressed extravagantly so they may have a good next life. The body is laid upon a bed of flowers for three days and three nights, and on the morning of the fourth day the body and display are burned.

Hoenn

Northern Hoenn has a fairly traditional method, though bodies are buried

Southern and Western Hoenn share the same practices, being primarily seafaring areas. That of course, being a burial at sea. The specifics vary by city, some send the dearly departed adrift on a boat and light the boat, while some build a pyre that consumes the boat instead.

Eastern Hoenn has a rather gruesome..or romantic, tradition. The bodies are buried with one or two trees planted over them. The trees grow and root into the body for extra nutrients.

Central Hoenn’s practice revolves largely around Mt.Chimney, specifically sending the body into the volcano and collecting the soot that’s expelled. The execution is different but it’s largely similar to cremation, the soot collected is kept, typically crafted into a glass ornament.

Sinnoh

Northern Sinnoh has a unique practice of ..mummification? is the…probably the closest way to describe it. The remains are kept in the cold climate to slowly dry out, a practice controlled by a religious sect, the bodies are slowly molded into the shape of gravemarkers, their own gravemarkers. these tombstones are set out in different patterns depending on which mountain they’re taken to.

From his understanding, the rest of the region typically practices standard in-ground burials. Rather than the standard of being set into the ground horizontally they’re set in vertically to optimize space.

Unova

Surprisingly, Unova has a universal practice that’s simply split into whichever range is closer. He’s aware that there’s two mountain ranges, though he doesn’t know their names. There are sacred, underground catacombs for the deceased. He’s heard rumors that it’s such a protected land that even pokemon don’t venture in.

Kalos

He’s heard that due to the dense population of Kalos, cremation is required, artisans take the ash and create effigies for the deceased. These range from accessories, to tools, or simply statues and the like.

The only other practice he knows of for Kalos is burial and execution in the catacombs, but..it doesn’t seem that most of the residents living within the region now know of said catacombs.

66 - Celebi or Jirachi

Wow, starting it off with a really hard one! I love both of them so much. One is a cute forest spirit with an amazing movie to go with it and the other is a star child with an ok movie. Hm. I LOVED the 3rd Pokemon movie so much but I think I have to give it to Jirachi. I love it’s design sooooo much! Also steel/psychic is amazing in my opinion.

71 - Palkia, Dialga, or Giratina

110% Palkia! Back in the day I originally wanted Pokemon Diamond for Dialga but when I went to gamestop they only had Pearl, so I got Pearl. After a while, Palkia really grew on me. I really enjoy the fact that it stands on two legs versus 4. Also while I don’t understand why it’s a water type, it’s a great typing and one of the few legendary Pokemon that I have actually used in my party.

78 - Xerneas, Yveltol, or Zygarde

yveltol Yveltol YVELTOL!!! I LOVE YVELTOL! If it wasn’t for Zekrom, Yveltol would be my favorite legendary Pokemon. It just looks so badass. It’s color scheme is great and I love the veiny look in the wings. Haha, I love badass looking legendaries.

87 - Team Aqua or Team Magma

Aqua!! I got Pokemon Sapphire as a kid and it is still one of my favorite Pokemon games. Everything about gen 3 is great but I digress... Archie from Alpha Sapphire is the best Archie! I’m so sad they made him paler in Ultra Sun/Moon. Anyway, he’s just so nice tbh. He treats his minions better then the other guy.

97 - Kanto, Johto, Hoenn, Sinnoh, Unova, or Kalos

Haha, this is a dated list isnt it? Either way, my favorite region/game is Hoenn! Gen 3 is my absolute favorite. The new Pokemon were fantastic in this gen. The Mudkip, Trapinch, lines for example are some of my top favorite Pokemon. I just love that this region was based on nature. They wanted Heonn to really feel close to nature and boy they succeeded. They had some great different areas in this region like route 113 (the one with volcanic ash everywhere), Mt.Chimney (an actual fucking volcano), Meteor Falls, Fortree City, and route 111 (desert area). It was a beautiful trip to go through the region as a kid.
