Experience Men of War II in Beta: Faster Loading and Even Better Graphics
Tumblr media
Men of War II multiplayer RTS game to release a Beta weekend for Linux, Mac, and Windows PC. Which is the result of the work and effort of developer Best Way. Due to make its way onto Steam and Humble Store in 2024. Let's get into this exciting news about Men of War II, the multiplayer RTS game that's making waves in Linux gaming. There's a big event happening for Men of War II – a Beta weekend! It's due to start on November 16th until the 21st on Steam. This is not just any test run; it's also a chance to see all the updates the developers have working on.
What’s New?
Better Experience: Men of War II now runs smoother with quicker loading times, and the graphics look even more amazing.
New Mode - Officer Mode: This is a tough challenge where you have to protect a very important character in the game. If the enemies get him, you lose. Since it's all about using your tactics and being quick to make the right moves.
More to Play: There are two new missions to try out, one for the USA and one for Germany. These missions are due to be like stepping into a history book about World War II, but you're in control. Plus, the Soviet campaign is back too!
Maps Galore: Four new maps, making it a total of ten. Each map is a different playground for your strategies.
Feedback Matters: The Men of War II developers have listened to what thousands of players feedback about the previous versions. Now making a bunch of improvements.

Different Ways to Play Against Others (PvP): You've got three styles - PvP, Combined Arms, and Classic. Each one offers a different way to compete against other players.
Game Settings: Choose between Competitive or Realism. Since it's all about how challenging you want your experience to be.
Modes to Play: Four modes where you can face off against other players or even AI bots. These are Front Line, Assault Zones, Combat, and Incursion.
Solo or Team Missions: There are three missions you can play alone or with friends - Towards Freedom, Convoy, and Through The Snow.
Lots of Maps: Ten different maps in total, including Witch's Vale, Village, Champagne, Polesie, and more.
What’s Improved?
Matchmaking and Leaderboards: You can also see how you rank in the Classic mode and in Combined Arms.
Faster Load Times: No more waiting around; the Men of War II loading times are much shorter.
Better Rewards: In PvE, completing tasks gets you new battalions and supply points.
Smarter Vehicles: Vehicles in Men of War II move around smarter now.
Balancing: Based on players feedback, the title's balance has been tweaked for a better experience.
More Realistic Battles: In Realism mode, battles feel even more lifelike.
UI and Sound Upgrades: The user interface and sounds see an improvement for a better overall feel.
Important Note: Remember, whatever you do in the Beta won't carry over to the final build when it launches on Linux. Launch Date: Men of War II is due to be fully available in 2024 on Linux, Mac, and Windows PC via Steam and Humble Store. So, that's a lot happening with Men of War II. The Beta weekend is a perfect time to jump in and play the new features and improvements. It's a multiplayer RTS title that's not just about action; it's also about thinking fast and making smart decisions. Make sure to jump into the Beta Weekend on Steam.

Natural Selection 2 (2012, Unknown Worlds Entertainment)
These screenshots are from 2014, hence the low resolution. It's a shame only a few hundred play this now, it was such a fun multiplayer experience back in it's prime.
Thankfully the few hundred still playing are all very dedicated to the game, and there's modders releasing community balance mods to this day.
Here's hoping at some point the devs do a Natural Selection 3, but I know they're busy with a Subnautica sequel at the moment.

rts games should let you place down decorative doodads during play. even in multiplayer. especially in multiplayer. flex on your opponent by having them roll into your lavishly-decorated town you took the time to customize and they still get their ass handed to them. you know what screw it: co-op map editor as the whole game

TADC Episode 2 brought me to a realization: all these people were online gamers. That's why they tried on the VR helmet and wound up here. I can take a pretty good guess as to their favorite games, too.
Pomni: Elder Scrolls Online. She's too familiar with clipping mechanic exploits not to be a die-hard Bethesda gamer.
Ragatha: Minecraft. She has "server mom" written all over her. You know, the one who gets everyone to make up when there's been a fight and gets people hyped up about a new project. Constantly on the verge of burnout.
Gangle: Her figurine collection marks her more as a potential Warhammer player than an online gamer, but she might enjoy World of Warcraft. Any fantasy MMO, really.
Jax: Call of Duty. Duh.
Zooble: Not really an online gamer, but a huge fan of the Fallout series. First multiplayer was Fallout 76. They're still bitter about it.
Kinger: He's played every RTS and TBS out there since Utopia. Met his wife on a Civilization BBS. Globally ranked in Starcraft. His strategies appear to observers as nonsensical or insane, but he wins regardless. No one has ever determined whether he is a genius or just really, really lucky.

Sports includes Racing, Competitive Games (i.e. Rocket League), Sports-Based Fighting Games
[I read the sub-genre info but no genre listed here includes my favorite games.] The above sub-genre information does not fully encompass all of the smaller or more niche sub-genres that could reasonably fit into the core genres. I encourage you to think deeply about the gameplay mechanics and artistic influences of the games you enjoy the most to determine if they may be close enough to one of the listed core genres such that you can decide it's representative enough to say your tastes fall in that genre, or fall into two or more of the listed genres. Ultimately, it is up to your own analysis of your preferences to find a core genre you feel adequately encompasses your tastes and decide whether or not you need to click this 'other' option.
(Core Genres and Sub-Genres are lifted from the list of core genres on Wikipedia. If you need additional assistance picking a core genre you feel is your favorite, the hyperlinked Wikipedia article has a lot of good information explaining these sub-genres and what sorts of games fall under them. None of this is my opinion.)
(This post was inspired by a favorite video game genre poll that listed several action, adventure, and RPG sub-genres but omitted mainstay genres like puzzle games, sports games, or strategy games.)

what video games do the ro's/would the ro's play . would teddy fw dark souls. would mal fw league.
Hmm, let me think! Fun question.
Mal: Periodically gets into random gacha games, amasses a hoard of jpgs, never touches them again. Swears up and down they don't spend money on microtransactions, despite their absurd amount of resources. If they played league of legends they'd probably get banned swiftly for inting, as they'd realise it's a surefire way to troll annoying teammates.
Teddie: Can't really play input heavy games because of pain issues. would vibe with slow-paced turn-based strategy I think. Stuff that isn't time sensitive and he can do methodically. Watches Kay play things.
Kay: RPGs RPGs RPGs. Give her the final fantasy. Give her the mass effect. Give her the baldur's gate. Plays co-op with Teddie.
CG: Played party games a lot when she was younger. The kind of ones you mostly only play when you have at least four people. Hasn't touched a console in a long time and wouldn't be seen dead mobile gaming.
Wil: Kind of embarassingly out of touch with video games. They played mario once when they were eight. Stares blankly at you when you ask them which mario. You receive the sinking feeling that they are genuinely not aware that there is more than one.
(it was paper mario)
Alistair: Bashfully admits that he does like to game now and then. It transpires that he is ridiculously good at various management/colony building style games like Dwarf Fortress and Rimworld. Dabbles in old RTS games. Hasn't played Nethack in a while but would pick it up like he never left if he played it again.
Spends actual hours making cool houses in the Sims. As a teenager he once did the thing where you take away the pool ladder to drown a sim, felt unbelievably guilty, never did that again.
Almost never plays multiplayer anything cause he gets anxious.

Note
Even if it dont make sense what will be the prefered game or sort of game (video game or board game) of every hero
Man-at-Arms: RTS and Grand Strategy games. Gets irrationally mad at the AI.
Hellion: Looter-shooters and fighting games. Screams a lot while playing.
Antiquarian: Hidden object games. She has a good eye and enjoys the plots. Alternatively, tabletop games with loads of components and figurines.
Bounty Hunter: Souls-likes. Also likes older rpgs that basically force you to play with a notebook to organize information.
Flagellant: Point-and-click adventure games. Masochism and moon logic are perfect for him.
Highwayman: Character action games. Fast-paced, easy to get into and hard to master.
Occultist: Dumps a billion hours into RPGs. Reads all the extra lore entries and edits the wiki. Plays Magic the Gathering with Bigby and Paracelsus.
Arbalest: Exploration-focused games with lots of crafting and survival elements. Super proud of her Valheim base.
Vestal: Visual Novels, dating sims and farming sims. Hundreds of hours in Stardew Valley.
Leper: Walking simulators and wanky art games. Gets made fun of for it.
Grave Robber: Stealth games. Has Ghosted the entire Thief and Dishonored series on the highest difficulties.
Plague Doctor: All sorts of weird experimental games, old text games and survival horror.
Crusader: Tactical fps, turn-based games, any multiplayer that requires coordination. Also plays Crusader Kings III with Barristan.
Jester: Incremental/clicker games. He WILL get a billion chickens to build a space base. Will play music rhythm games as well.
Musketeer: Sports, including racing. Doesn't particularly like shooting games because her real life skill doesn't translate, but enjoys games with a competitive aspect.
Runaway: Life sims. Plays The Sims and gets incredibly attached to her families. Wants the pixel people to be happy.
Abomination: City and civilization builders. Likes the feeling that he's doing something constructive instead of destructive. Also plays Stardew Valley with Junia.
Shieldbreaker: Rhythm games, especially dance ones. Can enjoy platformers adapted for one-handed play.
Houndmaster: Mystery and detective games. Played every Ace Attorney mainline and spin-off game.
