Note
I saw your RB about how ocs would be misinterpreted if they were canon and you said one for Nocte would be that he's a bad influence for his manwhore tendencies (/aff) and wanted to ask: is that not part of the point? Not that it's wrong for him, but that he's a temptation for others? You've mentioned him and Kit before, and I thought that maybe Nocte sleeping with him was designed to present a distraction from the Jedi Code for Kit to overcome? And what about his influence as a leader, especially on some of the younger clones? Is he not implicitly teaching them to lean into using their bodies as tools?
the post in question btw
this is so on the nose that I'm halfway convinced you're bullshitting me lmaooo no, Nocte is not inherently a bad influence on those around him for sleeping around, or for fraternizing with Jedi
Kit is a whole ass grown adult man. if having sex was enough to lead him astray from the Order, I'm sure he wouldn't be there in the first place. Nocte doesn't function as a distraction for getting physically intimate with him, he functions as a question by getting emotionally intimate with him. a question for both of them! how well can you compartmentalize? how deeply can you trust? how will you keep your heart from influencing your head when it matters most? how do you handle such a power imbalance? what are the consequences for making mistakes along the way?
none of that seems particularly opaque in their arc to me, even the limited amount I've shared here and on ao3
and I think the implication that he's a negative influence on the troops under him is a little gross! because he's not using his body as a tool, first of all, it's not some manipulative scheme. not with Kit and not before him. it's not a crime to look for ways to vent tension. and not that it even matters but he's clearly not the type to regale them with his escapades. Nocte prioritizes, above all else, the wellbeing of his crew. that's family. and that applies to the whole Guard. no discussion of him could possibly have made it more obvious that the Guard comes before All Else. it doesn't have to, but it does
I'm going to assume – because this ask implies that you dug through Nocte's tag at least – that the disconnect here is something about the nature of sex itself so all I'll say is that fucking, around or otherwise, has no link to a person's morality or ethics and is literally just a thing that people do because it feels good. it's not a trap or some uniquely powerful influence or whatever

Stella Plays Matchmaker (For No Reason)
~ or, The Story of How Stella Accidentally Created a Love Triangle Out of Nothing
(Brotherhood Era - featuring Stella, age 16; Noctis & Prompto, 18; Ignis, 20; and Gladio, 21)
[ basically, Stella believes herself to be inherently irresistible to men, so naturally she mistook Prompto's growing crush on Noctis to be directed at her (despite there being absolutely no evidence to support this whatsoever)
...and decided to remedy the (very awkward and very imagined) situation by inviting a very confused Prompto over to her apartment one night so she could gently break the news to him that she only likes him as a friend.
and that's how it all started... ]
Stella: -opening the door- "Prompto! Come on in!" D:
Prompto: -cautiously steps inside and looks around- "Uh...I appreciate you having me over, but...why did you choose 9pm on a Wednesday?"
Stella: "Let's not worry about that." -pulls out a chair for him at the table- "Have a seat." D:
Prompto: .... -hesitates for a moment, then sits-
Stella: -also sits- "Would you like a cookie?" D: -holds out a plate of chocobo-shaped cookies-
Prompto: ...! -very carefully takes one- ... -suddenly blurts out- "...I-is something wrong?!"
Stella: "No no, of course not!" D: -stares at him-
Prompto: ...... -takes a small bite of the cookie-
Stella: -continues staring-
Prompto: "... ...S-Stella...?"
Stella: "Prompto, I need to talk to you." -reaches across the table and puts her hand on his hand-
Prompto: -jumps- ?!
Stella: -sighs deeply- "...This isn't easy..."
Prompto: -on the verge of an anxiety attack- "...O-oh gods, what's wrong?! Just tell me...!"
Stella: -dramatic pause- "...Prompto, I...I only like you as a friend."
Prompto: ....
Stella: ....
Prompto: "...I-I...I also like you as a friend...?"
Stella: -sighs again- "Prompto, you don't have to hide it anymore. I know you like me...I've seen the way you act when we all hang out at Noct's."
Prompto: -genuinely confused- "Uhh..."
Stella: -continues- "But I just don't feel that way about you. I already have someone who I like."
Prompto: -still confused- "...Uh...yeah, I know. You like Ignis."
Stella: -suddenly blushes bright red- "...H-How do you know about that?!" o//A//o;
Prompto: "Stella, you literally stuffed your bra with my socks."
Stella: -covering her face with her hands- "We don't talk about that...!" >//A//<;;
Prompto: "Besides, I..." -sighs- "...Well, I guess I appreciate you trying to let me down easy, but..." -takes another bite of the cookie, blushing slightly- "...I already have someone who I like, too..."
Stella: -looks up at him- ?
Prompto: -catches her gaze and looks away, blushing more- "...I-it's not important..."
Stella: -suddenly grabs his hand with both of her hands- "No, you have to tell me!" D:
Prompto: -jolts- "Uwah!"
Stella: "Tell me! Maybe I can help!" D:
Prompto: -stares at her for a moment- ... -looks down- "...It's...uhh..."
Stella: -waits expectantly- D: ?!
Prompto: "...I...I-I like..." -mumbles a bit- "...I like...Noctis..."
Stella: -practically shouting- "Noctis?!" D:
Prompto: -blushing profusely now- "Ahh, don't say it so loud...!"
Stella: -already in her own little world as she thinks about it- "...Of course..."
Prompto: "S-Stella...?!"
Stella: -looks up at him again- "Does he like you back?!" D:
Prompto: "...! I...well...I don't...know. I mean, I hope he does, but..."
Stella: "Let me find out!" D:
Prompto: -blinks- "...Y-yeah...?"
Stella: -nods confidently- "I can totally find out!" D:
Prompto: -stares at her for a moment- ... -slowly nods back- "...O-okay...just...just don't make it obvious that I like him, okay?"
Stella: "Of course! Your feelings are safe with me!" D:
[ so the next day, Stella headed across the hall to Noctis' apartment after school, determined to discreetly get some information out of her cousin. ...which went about as well as you'd expect. ]
Stella: -settling into the couch while Noctis starts the PS4- "Y'know..."
Noctis: -focused on what he's doing- ?
Stella: "Prompto's a really great guy, huh?"
Noctis: -grabs their controllers and sits down on the couch beside Stella- "Yeah, I guess so. He's my best friend, after all."
Stella: -nods, taking her controller as he hands it to her- "...He's pretty cute, too, huh?"
Noctis: .... -glances over at her for a moment- "...I mean, I guess. If you like blonde guys."
Stella: -with no hesitation whatsoever- "And those freckles! So adorable!" D:
Noctis: ........ -hesitates awkwardly and turns toward the TV- "...Can we just play the game?"
Stella: -nods and watches while he starts the match- ... -waits until they're in a middle of a round before she brings it up again- "...I wonder if Prompto likes anyone?"
Noctis: -jumps and misses his move, causing his character to throw the match- ...! -turns to Stella again- "...Why are you even thinking about that?!"
Stella: -practically oblivious to what's happening on the screen- "I'm just saying...guy like that, he could probably date anyone he wanted!" D:
Noctis: ...... -stares at her-
Stella: -stares back- D:
Noctis: ...........
Stella: D:
[ later that day ]
Stella: -on the phone with Prompto- "I haven't been able to get any information from him so far. ... ... Well, you know how he is. ... Yeah, I know. ... ....No, I don't think it's a lost cause! Just gotta do a little more investigating..." D:
[ even later that day ]
Noctis: -angrily tossing his dishes into the sink just as Ignis walks in the door-
Ignis: -blinks and pauses at the scene- "...I can see you're in a bad mood, so I take it you didn't get to the paperwork I left you?"
Noctis: -continues without even looking at him- "As if I have time for that!"
Ignis: -suppresses a sigh and places a bag of groceries down on the counter- "...What's going on? Did something happen?"
Noctis: -considers talking about it for a moment, but decides against it- "...No. It's fine."
Ignis: -raises an eyebrow- ... -surveys the mess in the kitchen before moving to start preparing dinner- "...Well, your father is waiting for those documents. So if you could at least glance at them before--"
Noctis: -suddenly blurts out- "I think Stella likes Prompto!"
Ignis: ....... -blinks-
Noctis: -staring down at the counter- .... -hesitates before he continues- "...She...she wouldn't stop asking about him today!"
Ignis: ... -chooses his words carefully- "...If she does, would that bother you?"
Noctis: -looks up at him- "Of course it would!"
Ignis: ...! -pushes his glasses up the bridge of his nose- ...
Noctis: -looks back down- "...I mean..."
Ignis: ... -quietly starts preparing dinner, giving him time to continue-
Noctis: "...Well six, why did it have to be Prompto?!"
Ignis: -glances up at him calmly as he begins dicing veggies- "...Why does it bother you so much?"
Noctis: -abruptly yells- "Because I like Prompto!"
[ later that night ]
Ignis: -sighs as he unlocks the door to his apartment-
Gladio: -had been waiting for him inside- "There you are. Did Noct give you a fight about the paperwork?"
Ignis: -takes his shoes off and sets his bag down, looking even more stressed than usual- "Not exactly..."
Gladio: -places comforting hands on his shoulders- "You wanna talk about it?"
Ignis: -sighs again as he leans into the touch- "...I think...I think Noct has a problem I can't help him with."
Gladio: -barely suppresses a snort- "Well yeah, that kid has lots of problems..."
Ignis: -ignores his comment and continues- "...He's upset because he found out Stella likes Prompto, apparently."
Gladio: -pauses- ...
Ignis: "He's really distraught about it. I'm not sure what to do..."
Gladio: ... -hides a chuckle- "...So you...you think Stella likes Prompto?"
Ignis: ...? -turns to look up at him, raising an eyebrow in confusion- ...
Gladio: -trying not to laugh- "...No, it's just..." -sighs and leans down to kiss Ignis on the forehead- "...I just think it's cute that you think Stella likes Prompto."
Ignis: ...???
[ and that's the story of how Stella inadvertently caused all sorts of drama by literally being the worst matchmaker in history. obviously Noctis & Prompto eventually did figure out their feelings for each other, but not before several more weeks of this, and with absolutely no real help from Stella.
she's an idiot, your honor. ]

"They don't care about you." - Whumptober day 2
Fandom: Final Fantasy XV Character: Prompto Argentum Rating: Teen and up Warnings: Captivity, mild psychological torture
Read below the cut or on AO3 here.
Prompto considers himself an optimist. He’s a glass-half-full kind of guy, he tries to see the best in everyone, and he firmly believes there’s something good to come from just about every situation.
He’s failing to find much good about his current situation.
It could be worse, he guesses. For the most part, he’s relatively uninjured. Yeah, he aches all over, and he was kind of bleeding from various injuries for a while, but even with his limited medical knowledge, he can tell none of them are fatal or likely to leave permanent damage. Most probably won’t even scar, and even if they do, well, scars are kinda hot, aren’t they?
Ardyn gives him water every now and then - Prompto has trouble telling the days apart, so he doesn’t know how frequently the water comes, he just knows that he’s usually pretty thirsty by the time he gets to drink.
He’s not been fed since Ardyn picked him out of the snow and brought him here, but he doesn’t think he could keep anything down anyway. His head hurts - a concussion, maybe - and it leaves him with persistent nausea that is just about manageable, but he’s not so sure he’d be able to stomach even Iggy’s food, right now.
So, it could be worse… but it sure could be better too.
Prompto’s always prided himself on being able to be alone. It doesn’t feel great, he’s naturally extroverted despite his anxieties and he prefers the company of people, but he’s not one of those people who can’t be alone with themselves. He can manage fine alone. He’s had enough practice, after all.
That was before, though. Before befriending Noct and gaining two big brothers as a bonus, before spending most of his free time with at least one of them at any given time, and before embarking on a road trip where they’ve been stuck in a tiny tent together more often than not.
Maybe he’s lost the ability to bear being on his own, now that he got to know something different.
Of course, he’s not truly alone - he’d be stupid to think so. Ardyn is watching him, if not in person then over some camera set up in his cell. Sometimes, he taunts him over the speakers, and in a twisted sort of way, Prompto’s almost glad for it when he does. It’s a reminder that he’s not dead yet, he’s not lost in his own mind, he’s still alive and existing in the same reality as everyone else.
That doesn’t mean he doesn’t flinch every time the speaker crackles and Ardyn’s creepy voice echoes around his cell, though.
“Do you still believe they’ll come for you?” Ardyn purrs, sounding tinny and warped through the speaker which somehow just makes it even more unsettling. “Poor boy. So caught up in your delusions.”
Prompto grits his teeth and stares at the floor - he doesn’t have the energy to lift his head enough to stare at anything else. Ardyn’s been trying to put these thoughts into his mind from the moment he brought him to his cell.
Joke’s on Ardyn, though. Prompto’s own mind has been trying to feed him lies for as long as he can remember. It’s been hard to unlearn those ideas, and he hasn’t managed to free himself from all of them quite yet, but Noct’s friendship - all of their friendship, really - gave him something to hold on to, something to combat his own feelings of inadequacy. He’s not quite there yet, but he likes to think he’s come a long way, those past few years. Like hell he’s throwing away all of that hard work because some weirdo whispers things into his ear.
“They don’t care about you,” Ardyn’s silky voice tells him, and a younger, more lost Prompto would have believed him without question. “They’ve forgotten all about you.”
You’re wrong, Prompto thinks, just you wait. They’re coming, I know they are.
----
When they do come for him, Prompto is just coherent enough to tilt his head towards the camera, defiant and unwavering.
See? I told you so.
And then, he lets himself sag into Gladio’s arms, lets Ignis’ anxious hands check him over for injuries, lets Noct tell him how worried they were about him, and for the first time since he fell off that train, he feels warmth seeping back into his bones.

Do you save any general headcanons for omegaverse chocobros? I’m kinda curious about that :3
I’m not sure if I completely understand your request but here’s a few hc of Omegaverse Chocobros from me :D
(Btw if I miss interpretative your request, let me know!)
(One more thing, everything here is platonic, I’m just testing the waters. I’m really new at this lol sorry if somethings aren’t accurate. If it does well or future requested, I’ll do romance. It wasn’t stated in the request if they wanted romance or not, so just keep that in mind.)
Omegaverse Chocobros (HC SFW)
Tumblr media
• Gladio is a Alpha. Naturally. Noct and Prompto are Betas. And Ignis is a Omega.
• There new at it. Especially Prompto.
• But there in it together.
• Don’t ask how they met. Everyone has a different story.
• Gladio will say he got everyone together (Classic Alpha)
• Noctis will say he got everyone together.
• Ignis will say “does it matter?”
• Prompto will just shrug and say “I was asked to be here.”
• But either way, there very happy.
• Gladio is naturally very dominant but not controlling.
• He wants to find someone someday but until then..he got his dumb Betas and Omega.
• Not he minds, he gets to practice.
• Especially on Prompto.
• He tries to practice being dominant with Prompto but he can’t help but be easy on Prompto.
• He’s so new and nervous.
• Prompto is so nervous being a Beta and embarrassed.
• He feels weak, even though he’s average.
• Nothing special but not terrible.
• Poor Boy feels different..
• He hates that his sent is weak. Was he cut out for this?
• Ignis, thankfully, reassures Prompto.
• Even though Prompto isn’t necessarily Ignis’s responsibility, He couldn’t help but feel that Prompto deserve a mate.
• Ignis is definitely a Omega to a T.
• But he’s also, in Control.
• He’s so professional and calm most of time.
• He, though, has been feeling something he hadn’t felt before.
• He wasn’t sure if it was heat or something else but he controlled himself.
• He wanted to find a mate but he’s got other things right now.
• Noct.
• He’s probably the definition of average.
• He doesn’t really care that he’s a Beta. or, finding a mate with his friends.
• He’s with them cause he doesn’t wanna be alone.
• It was his biggest fear as a kid.
• Still is, even as an adult.
• He sometimes call them the “Accidental pack” but bro...
• He doesn’t think it’s a joke anymore.
• There basically are a pack.
• But very platonically. He isn’t sure if it’ll go far or go no where with Ignis, Gladio and Prompto.
• He loves them but is he in love with them?
• Time will have to tell...
A/N: Hopefully this is ok. I did some brief research on Omegaverse but something is wrong, let me know!
Constructive feedback is more than welcomed!
Hopefully you enjoyed this!

+++
Tumblr media
• He is a quite famous bachelor in Insomnia and he doesn’t want anybody creeping on you both during your date. So he wants to go somewhere quiet and private. Gladio knows the area around Insomnia like the back of his hand. He knows the most beautiful and most peaceful places. That’s where he’s taking you.
• He picks you up right before dawn and you two drive out of the city and into the mountains. The journey up there is kinda quiet and the air is filled with nervous tension. But as soon as you arrive at your destination, all of that is forgotten.
• Gladio picked out the most perfect spot and timing - you arrived just as the sun started to set. In no time, he had the picnic set up and you two were enjoying some homemade snacks while watching the beautiful view on the horizon.
• From there on, things just happened naturally. You talked, you laughed, you joked around - it was a really good night. Of course he took you home and made sure you got inside before he left for his own home. You two couldn’t wait for your second date.
Tumblr media
• He has been waiting to ask you out for ages. This man had everything planned out two weeks in advance. He knew what restaurant you two would go to, what he’d wear, when he'd pick you up, etc. There was no way this could go wrong.
• Only that, when the day arrives, nothing goes as planned. He has to work a little longer than usual, he managed to stain his shirt and the restaurant screwed up the reservation. He is beyond frustrated.
• Luckily, you're still smiling and laughing at his snarky comments, so maybe everything isn’t lost just yet. You two decide to just go to his place and cook something together, since apparently every restaurant in the city is booked out.
• It was a great night. Dinner was delicious, the atmosphere was wonderful - romantic and intimate, but not to the point it would have been uncomfortable. You really didn’t want this night to end. But Ignis promised you many more of nights like this - if you were interested that is.
Tumblr media
• Noctis just wants to get away from all the hassle in the Citadel and in public. So any crowded place is off the table as a date-location. But how about... a night-walk? Through the park? Gladio would follow you at a safe distance - far enough to not disturb you two, but not too far away to be too late if anything was to happen. Plus, Noctis knows the park like the back of his hand, so you really have nothing to worry about?
• He admits it sounds kinda creepy that a guy wants to take you out for a walk at night into the park on your first date. But as he explains to you that he just doesn’t want anyone spying on you or anyone interrupting your time together, you begin to understand. Plus, you know there are guards everywhere. So it’s not too risky, right?
• You never expected the park to be this beautiful and peaceful at night. You’ve only ever been there during daytime when it’s a very busy and quite crowded place. But at night? It’s such a calming space.
• Noctis talked you into climbing this huge rock with him. You didn’t understand why he wanted that... until he pointed at the sky. The view was amazing. You had never seen this many stars with your bare eyes ever. It was then that Noctis asked you about a second date. He liked spending time with you. He wanted to do it more often. You couldn’t wipe the huge smile off of your face as you agreed to another date.
Tumblr media
• He really wanted to take you to a Chocobo-Farm. But that wasn’t really appropriate for a first date, was it? It had to be romantic and you had to like it... but he had no idea what place would be perfect for that. His friends told him to simply ask you what you wanted to do. So he did. And can you imagine the thumping in his chest when you said: ‘Let’s visit a Chocobo-Farm!’ ?
• GOSH, he is excited. He is almost bouncing when you two arrive, ready to spend your day with the big, fluffy, yellow baby-birds. He couldn’t say what was more exciting - spending time with you or being surrounded by his favorite animals.
• He takes so many pictures of you with the Chocobos, insisting that all of them are perfect and none should be deleted. He lets you take a few pictures of him and the birdies as well, even though he prefers to stay behind the camera. But hey... he wants to see you smile and he would do everything for it - even leave his comfort zone.
• All in all it was a really fun day. Even though you both kinda warmed up to one another, Prompto is still very nervous at the end of your date. He just really likes you and wants to see you again but doesn’t know how to say it. Well, luckily you hugged him and pecked his cheek softly as you said your goodbyes. You two are still texting until way after midnight and will probably be terribly exhausted the next day... but you already knew what you would do on your second date. :3

[From here, for reasons.]
@painedprince:
The first kiss was a surprise- “Prom-” The second moreso. He put his hands on Prompto’s shoulders and spoke in between breaths. “Always full of surprises.”
“…Whatever happened, I forgive you.” Not that he figured Prompto was preemptively apologizing for anything, and not that Noctis has ever been angry with him. It’s still wasn’t something he expected. He was so used to spoiling Prompto like this instead…
“I try.”  He answered naturally, grinning between kisses--
“Heyyy.  Why do you think I did something wrong?”  Prompto huffed  Okay, fine, it was probably really suspicious to just walk up to Noct and start making out.  Still.  Whatever irritation had been there was joking in the first place, disappearing entirely with another kiss.  “Figured you could use some... I don’t know, appreciation?  Working so hard and all.  Am I distracting you?”

Final Fantasy XV Review
Tumblr media
Year: 2016
Original Platform: PlayStation 4
Also available on: PC (Steam), XBox One
Version I Played: PlayStation 4
Here we go. The final Final Fantasy review of the main single-player games. I just want to say, first off, we’ve been waiting for this game since 2006. It took them ten damn years to finally release this game. I clearly remember the teaser trailer they released when it was called Final Fantasy XIII Versus, and my next-door neighbor and I were so hyped for this game when we were freaking teenagers. After years of delays, Square Enix revamped it into Final Fantasy XV.
Did it live up to the wait? Well, read and find out.
Synopsis:
Noctis Lucis Caelum is the heir to the throne of the kingdom of Lucis. On his birthday, he sets off with his three best friends and bodyguards (Ignis, Prompto, Gladio) to marry his betrothed, Lunafreya. The marriage is supposed to be a political one, though Noct and Lunafreya had grown up together and become fond of each other. But peace turns to war as the empire of Niflheim betrays Insomnia and invades. Noct, now on the run, has to reclaim his right to the throne by collecting the necessary family heirlooms which will banish the darkness.
Gameplay:
Open-world Final Fantasy.
That is the big selling point for this game.
A MASSIVE step up from Final Fantasy XIII’s gameplay, Final Fantasy XV has you roaming around and attacking enemies on the field in real time. The battle system returns to something slightly more conventional by having you cast spells and use items. It seems like this is what Square really intended to do after Final Fantasy XII. Looking back, Final Fantasy XIII feels like some prototype before Final Fantasy XII, so it really becomes apparent that Final Fantasy XIII’s gameplay comes off as a huge mistake.
This game’s major’s strength comes from the player engaging with a massive world. You camp. You take on hunts. You take on a bajillion sidequests. You run across the world. You drive across the world. You can ride a chocobo across the world.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, the dip in the gameplay comes from how easily accessible these sidequests are. The map tells you exactly where you go 24/7. I started to have an existential crisis around my 50th sidequest in a row. Why am I doing this? What’s the point? I go here to kill a thing, or go there to help someone by giving a potion or taking a picture. You start to realize that a good bulk of sidequests are either hunting daemons or fetching an item. You start to deconstruct the meaning of playing a video game as you think to yourself, “Why do I play video games?” while also thinking “But wait, one more and then I swear I’m done.”.
Tumblr media
I get it, not everyone has the time nowadays to figure out a huge game like this. I get it, video games are now marketed to everyone for ease. At the same time, I personally love a good challenge. I mean, I’m the guy who has Dark Souls as one of his favorite video games of all time, so my opinion on the matter might definitely be skewered compared to most. I generally want to feel like I actually figured something out by myself rather than following a tracker on the screen and walking from task to task and then saying, “Okay done. Next.”.
Too much of that and playing a video game starts to feel like a 9 to 5 job to me. This game is great to play during quarantine, but at one point I saw playing this game as feeling like an actual job. Wake up, eat breakfast, time to hunt some daemons.
This is the growing conflict some people have with story-driven games versus open-world games. I see the argument focused too much on words like “linear”, but in reality we should be talking about “automation”. If a video game is too automated, then did you really play a video game? Or did you watch a movie that allows you to control the camera angle? At first, the idea of driving around an open-world Final Fantasy game sounds amazing. Isn’t that what fans always dreamed of? In reality, you don’t really drive around at your leisure. Even when you have the car set to “manual”, you can’t speed up, drive off-road, or pull off a sick drift like in The Fast and the Furious. Your car still automatically stays on the road wherever you’re going. It’s not so much “manual” as it is “I can control where and when to stop and which road to take”. Riding chocobos at your leisure is much more fun, but becomes increasingly impractical as you can just fast-travel to necessary locations in your car.
The sights and sounds of the fictional world of Eos are enough to gloss over these shortcomings though. It IS still fun to roam around and fight monsters and save the day. My bottom line is, “You don’t think about just how mindless the tasks are unless you keep playing for many days straight.”. And I poured hours into this game day after day because of the 2020 pandemic quarantine.
Graphics:
Obviously the best thus far. However, in-game facial expressions on the NPCs are still quite stilted and awkward. This game made me realize that we’ve yet to jump a hurdle when it comes to in-game graphics. The game is so polished but there are still limitations when it comes to giving the characters natural movements, both in body and lips. So an NPC could be shouting “WOW THAT’S AMAZING!” but have a straight face jumping up and down, despite the fact that the character model is the most realistic we’ve created so far in a video game. I was looking back at in-game cutscenes of Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, and found it ironic that they can portray body movements so much better, but that’s the trade-off. Less graphics power to portray realistic bodies, but the graphics power can then be allocated to focus on natural movements. Nowadays, all the graphics power is focused on making things look good, but that hardly leaves room for making things move naturally.
Tumblr media
Story:
After the overly-complicated plotline of Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy XV feels like a breath of fresh air. On the surface, it’s a straightforward tale of a boy seeking to become a king after his father is brutally murdered by enemy forces. The bromance between the young king and his bodyguards is endearing. Each character feels distinct and genuinely makes you laugh. The setup sounds like prime real estate for an emotionally charged storyline.
Unfortunately, it falls apart somewhere around the last quarter. What should have been a strong and straightforward story turned into a rushed, hasty mess by the final act.
The story started SO strong, they practically had it in the bag, but then it became apparent that many important elements were glossed over - especially when it came to the main villain. I realized that some things required me to read between the lines, or even were only explained in character dossiers in the archive section of the menu. Supposedly, the movie Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV explains more, but do you really expect me to have to watch a separate movie to understand the actual game? The final quarter of the story feels like someone was trying to finish NaNoWriMo, realized they were running out of time, and quickly jumped from scene to scene to reach that 50k word goal. The ten-year time-skip is a joke. The final chapter is sorely disappointing.
The ending was appropriate though, and even beautiful. However, the overall story didn’t have the necessary emotional weight to really make me feel anything. I thought to myself, “I feel like I should be tearing up but instead I feel nothing.”. Even Final Fantasy XII, which lacked a romance, had me swelling up at the end. Final Fantasy XV didn’t make me swell up until literally the last few seconds of the post-credits scene.
People complained about the advertising (Coleman, Cup Noodles) but that didn’t bother me.
What does bother me is the lack of variety in the main cast, and in numerous ways. There were so many interesting side characters that didn’t receive much screen time, or use at all in the story. The strong focus on only the four male leads made it a sausagefest. I was craving more out of Aranea Highwind and Iris Amicitia. They are important but don’t get any screen time at all in the final chapter, nor do we ever hear from them ever again after the time-skip. Aranea Highwind was such a cool character, but once again ends up being wasted potential.
Tumblr media
The main cast lacked distinctive styles. When I first saw the main cast, I had a hard time telling them apart. They looked like a k-pop band. Compare the main cast of Final Fantasy XV to literally any other Final Fantasy main cast and you can immediately spot the difference.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The four main leads do have distinct personalities, and I quite loved hearing their comments and banter. It felt realistic, but at times it became ridiculous. I rolled my eyes when Prompto would say things like, “Hashtag sorry not sorry.” That was a bit too on the nose, and came off as Square trying to pander to the current generation.
But what really rubbed me the wrong way is the incredible lack of non-white characters in the entire game. Lestallum feels so wrong to me as a Hispanic. Lestallum is supposed to be modeled after Havana, Cuba.
Tumblr media
Its music, its buildings, its activities. It has a tropical climate, and yet every single denizen is pale white. Every. Single. One. I am not exaggerating. It feels so absolutely wrong walking around that city and not seeing anyone with the slightest shade of brown. This isn’t some uncalled-for SJW rant, it’s a simple fact. Tropical climates breed tanner skins. My brain naturally did a double-take when seeing the all-white population, saying, “Hmmm, something’s wrong here.”. For God’s sake, Final Fantasy XII, made over a decade earlier, did a better job at displaying the various nuances in skin tones, and that was on the PlayStation 2! Final Fantasy X, even older, seemed to properly portray tropical beach populations, inspired by the Philippines, with the character Wakka.
I noticed that they really took the time to incorporate elements from virtually every single Final Fantasy game. Aside from the crystals, the modern settings, and other obvious elements, four male leads are reminiscent of Final Fantasy III, the sinister chancellor hearkens back to Kefka from Final Fantasy VI, the enemy Yojimbo resembles Final Fantasy X’s version of Yojimbo, a certain boss battle reminded me of Cid Raines from Final Fantasy XIII.
Also, there’s Dino. Quite possibly the most annoying Final Fantasy NPC ever.
Tumblr media
The overly obnoxious Italian stereotype made me want to punch his face, and also took me out of the experience of the fictional world. Every time you spoke with him he's all like "HEY HOW YOU DOIN WELCOME TO OLIVE GARDEN YOU TALKIN TO ME BADA BING BADA BOOM SPICY PIECE OF MEATBALL CAPISCE? AMIRITE??"
Square seemed to treat this game as a milestone in the series, alluding to everything the series ever did. It’s a shame that the story itself wasn’t quite up to snuff to be held in such regard.
Music:
The game’s major lyrical song is copyrighted, which is a first for a Final Fantasy game. It makes sense why they chose the song “Stand by Me”, both in literal and figurative terms of the story.
The score to this game is quite fantastic. The series has its first female composer, Yoko Shimomura. I have absolutely no complaints about the music. Nobuo Uematsu didn’t even pop into my head during the entire game. It’s the first time since Uematsu’s departure that I felt immersed in the score. The motifs are distinct and strong. The battle music is vibrant and an orchestral orgasm to listen to.
Notable Theme:
“Somnus”
youtube
The main theme of the game. It plays right away in the main menu. I love how it is incorporated into the rest of the score, and my brain kept wanting to hear it to its completion.
Direct Sequel?
Nope. However, there is downloadable content that fills in the gap of events within the game. Supposedly, Final Fantasy XV is loosely connected to Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Type-O, all sharing common themes and possibly set in the same universe. You can also watch the prequel movie, Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV.
Did it Live up to the Hype?
Eh.
Yes, and no.
It was cool to play around, but the rest is a flaccid attempt at being a notable entry in the series “for fans and first-timers”, as the words proudly display every time you load the game. It’s not the worst in the series, but certainly not the best. It’s somewhere in the mid-to-low tier.

Bros Watching Their S/O Draw
Fair warning, this is gonna have a lot of character building in it.
WC: 2455
Noctis
You’ve known the crown prince since you two were children. You were living in Tenebrae with Lady Sylva, and when the Empire took over you were sent back to Insomnia with King Regis and the prince.
Before your home had been occupied by Imperial forces, you were a bright child, always laughing. Your partner-in-crime was more often than not Ravus, and you two caused loads of trouble.
But as soon as Noctis arrived in Tenebrae, you grew shy. You weren’t used to having royalty from other nations watching you. Even after the prince had been at the manor for months, you never outgrow your shy nature. And when you were brought back to Insomnia at the behest of Lady Sylva, that’s when you really started curling in on yourself.
You had gotten somewhat used to Noctis’s stares, but the stares of the servants, Ignis, and Gladio were too much. A lot of the time, you could feel pity in the gazes of those around you, and that hurt; being seen as a refugee instead of who you actually were.
Fast-forward about seven years, and you and Noctis are in high school. You two were walking around when a blond came up to your prince, introducing himself as Prompto Argentum. The name made you nostalgic for your home, as you had remembered that there was a family called Argentum that had worked at the manor.
But as soon as the blond turned to you, you were cowering behind the prince. You still hadn’t gotten over your shy disposition, and high school just made it worse. You two eventually became friends, but only after about a year.
Now, you were tagging along on Noctis’s journey to Altissia, buzzing with excitement to see Luna again. Like Noctis, you had kept in contact with the young Oracle, except through Pryna instead of Umbra. Whenever she would send you a message, your day was infinitely better, and you came out of your shell somewhat. And every message you sent back to her was accompanied by a drawing.
The drawings always differed; one time you had drawn Pryna, another time was Noctis and Prompto. Drawing was something you had taken up soon after Tenebrae had fallen, and was something you did well in in school. And Noctis knew; there was very little about you he didn’t know, especially since you two had been dating for the past three years.
It really didn’t surprise him when one night at camp you pulled out your sketchbook. And he would just watch, mesmerised by the way your pencil seemed to glide effortlessly over the paper (it is NOT easy, trust me, I know)
He didn’t respond when Prompto tried to goad him into playing a round of King’s Knight, he was so focused on you. The way the tip of your tongue stuck out, how your brow wrinkled with concentration. It made his lips turn upwards in a smile, watching you work. A part of him wanted to get closer and see what you were creating, but he knew he’d be smacked.
After all, you didn’t like people watching you when you drew.
During the World of Ruin, you changed. You still drew, but instead of for pleasure, you drew the images for scientific studies conducted by Sania.
Prompto
This boy…
Look, he gets it. Really, he does. Being an amature photographer himself has led to him appreciating your artistic abilities more than most, cuz he knows that it’s not as easy as it looks.
You’ve known Prompto since you were both nineteen. You were working at a coffee shop in a quiet part of Insomnia when he had walked in, dripping from the rain. The morning rush had just ended. At the time, you had been so engrossed in your current drawing that you didn’t notice him walk up to the counter until he cleared his throat.
Fuck, it scared you so bad that your sketchbook was thrown at the poor blond, hitting him square between the eyes. You were horrified when he started tipping backward, but stopped when his hand grabbed the counter. Thank the gods there was no one in the shop.
“Oh my Gods! I’m so sorry!”
“D-Don’t worry ‘bout it.”
“But you could’ve been seriously hurt!”
After that, you basically had to beg him to let you make it up to him, offering some coffee on the house. That’s when you got his name, when he told you his order. And it was when you handed him his coffee that he asked you out.
Yes, he was a stumbling mess while asking.
You two met up later that week and went on a date to a park. A bit cliche, yes, but you didn’t expect him to bring a camera with him.
The entire date was spent with you watching him take pictures and answering questions he had, and him watching you draw.
At first, him watching you made you nervous. But he never said anything as he watched you, and you got used to it. Hell, you didn’t realise he had gotten so close until you were finished and looked up. You almost threw your sketchbook at him again with how startled you were, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t appreciate the view.
With how close he was, you could see all the freckles on his cheeks and nose, you could see just how deep of a blue his eyes were. His lips were chapped, you noticed, and were curled up in a bashful smile. That was the first time he had kissed you, when he was seconds away from getting a book to the face.
In the World of Ruin, you and Prompto became inseparable. And while he had stopped taking photos as often as he used to, you never once gave up on drawing. You were often seen in Lestallum, drawing with the children of the refugees in hopes that they would be able to forget about the world around them. And Prompto was always there at your side, watching you with a smile.
Ignis
You were a Kingsglaive, but before that you had been the child of a now defunct noble family. You were closely related to Verstael Besithia; the mad man being a cousin of your parents. Your family had done some terrible things by the time you were born, and they had been exiled from their homeland of Niflheim.
Since your family had been helping Lucis, they were taken in as citizens of Insomnia by King Regis. And since your family had been known for their battle prowess, it had quickly become one of the major families that enlisted in the Crownsguard and Kingsglaive.
You were just the latest of your family to join the Kingsglaive and serve under King Regis. It was during your training that you met Ignis Scientia. It was your first day of training under the Kingsglaive, and there was a joint training between the Glaive and Crownsguard. Of course, the first thing you noticed as soon as you walked into the training area was the tall, burly man, who you later learned to be Gladiolus Amicitia. Then your eyes had shifted to the man beside him, the one with glasses.
Even though you couldn’t remember your homeland all that much, you could remember how Verstael had been a dangerous man, despite his slight stature, and you were immediately on guard around Ignis. Turns out your gut feeling was right, as you were pitted against the royal advisor later on during training.
“(L/n)! Scientia! Your turn!” Your captain hollered, making the hairs on the back of your neck stand on end. You were slow to approach the mats, shrugging off your Kingsglaive coat and setting in gently to the floor. Not once did your (e/c) hues leave Ignis’s form.
As you stood before the man, you could feel the tension that surrounded him, and you were instantly reminded of the soldiers Verstael had created. The emotions that the feeling brought forth were almost enough to make you freeze, but it was the sound of something shattering that brought you back. It was just in the nick of time that you held your short sword high enough to block. Taking your bottom lip between your teeth, you pushed against the lanky male, forcing him to retreat slightly.
There were no words spoken, which only made the match feel like it went on that much longer. Time and again, you were barely able to defend against Ignis, and it was nearing the end of the match that he managed to catch your long (h/c) hair on his blade.
You flipped backwards, a small frown adorning your face as you pulled your now shorter hair over your shoulder. With a grunt of disapproval, you took your sword and raised it to your head, chopping what remained of your long hair into a short bob. When you looked back at your sparring partner, he was watching you with wide eyes. It was then that the match was ended, having been declared a tentative draw.
“Are you alright, (L/n)?” Ignis’s voice said from behind you as you grabbed your coat. Straightening and looking him in the eyes, you gave him a short nod.
“I am alright, Lord Scientia.”
Ignis hated when you would call him ‘lord’, but it had been drilled into you since you were a child, both back in Niflheim and in Insomnia. It was only after he begged you to stop calling him ‘lord’ that you did, albeit hesitantly. Your parents would skin you if they ever found out you weren’t giving respect where it was due.
N E ways, after that match, you found yourself running into the man more often, as you both worked directly under the royal family; him with the prince, and you with the king.
You would often meet up with him on your days off for some coffee, or even to help him with the prince as you and Noctis were the same age. You and the prince became fast friends, but you still didn’t talk all too much with him unless he was speaking directly to you.
Again, it was a habit.
The first time you met Prompto you almost killed him. He had reminded you so much of your insane cousin that you had thought Verstael had sent on of his clones to kill you and your family. But Noct had been quick to protect his friend, and when he had asked you what was wrong you had bolted, scared out of your mind. It was the first time you had felt fear like that since you were young, since you and your parents and your siblings were on the run from the Empire.
When Insomnia fell, you were with Cor and Iris by order of Regis. Your parents had expressed their concerns of the upcoming peace treaty signing and had asked that they would be able to protect him. Except you were excluded, being the youngest of their children. They at least wanted you to survive. And Regis understood that; I mean, he did almost the exact same thing with his son, and he agreed to keep you far from the action.
After the Fall, you spent most of your time traveling around with Cor, and met up with the prince and his retinue at Keycatrich. Unlike Cor, you had entered the dungeon with them and proved your worth as a former Kingsglaive. You had been nervous around Prompto, afraid you had hurt him all those years ago, and you were relieved when you found out he held no grudge against you.
“You’re not the first one close to Noct that’s tried to kill me. Gladio did it too! But I promise, I just wanted to be Noct’s friend!”
One night, at the haven near Cape Caem, you were able to relax. Since the fall, you had been tense beyond belief. Especially when Ardyn would show up. Whenever that happened, you were quick to disappear; you didn’t want him to recognize you.
As you relaxed, you remembered the small sketchbook you had stashed in your Kingsglaive jacket for when you were bored on duty. Taking it out, you flipped to the next open page, frowning when you realized you’d need to get a new one soon.
You had been so occupied with drawing that you hadn’t noticed Ignis watching over your shoulder until his hand rested on your shoulder.
“Dinner’s ready, love.”
You jumped in your chair, turning to the man with wide eyes.
“H-How long have you--”
“I don’t think you want to know, my dear.”
It was during the World of ruin that your eye for detail came in handy for something other than illustrating. Since Ignis had lost his sight, you had taken it upon yourself to describe everything to him. Even if it was pitch black outside, your eyes would pick up on the smallest of details and relay them to him, you two earning the moniker “The Eyes and Ears of The King”.
Gladio
Gladio had been your s/o for around three weeks before the Fall. Because of your connection to the Amicitia family (you were from an older family that was on the verge of going extinct before Clarus had offered you to marry his son), you had been one of the first out of the city, Iris in tow.
When he had met you two in Lestallum, all three of you were entangled in a bear hug with tears streaming down your face. Your family hadn’t made it out, meaning your line had officially died out with your father.
It was weeks later that you were back to normal, somewhat. You had become quieter and more temperamental -- not the best combination. But instead of taking your anger out on others, you would shut yourself in a room and start drawing. At the time of the Fall, you hadn’t drawn in years, but you didn’t seem to have forgotten anything; it was like relearning how to ride a bike for you.
You had music blasting as you were drawing, a small frown on your lips, when Gladio walked in. He leaned against the doorframe and just watched you. He hadn’t seen you focused like this before, and it kind of scared him; had you put that focus to something else, like monster hunting, he doubted anyone would be able to stop you. And you were his.
Later on, during the World of Ruin, rarely were the two of you seen without one another. And even more rare was it that you came home with injuries other than minor scrapes and cuts.

Out of Time
Pairing: Prompto X Reader
Requested: No
A/N: I’m really not too good at angst. I’m doing the best I can with it. It’s outside of my comfort zone, so naturally I want to work with it a little more and improve. Enjoy!
TW: death, blood, violence
----
By the time he heard her cry out, he was too late. All of his attention had been focused on the prince and keeping him safe. He thought you could defend yourself. He underestimated the power that the daemon’s held, though. Prompto had been paying attention to the daemon behind Noctis, taking it down before it could harm the prince. Noct turned, flashing a quick grin and a thumbs-up to him.
It was when his expression shifted that Prompto knew something was wrong. His look of encouragement changed to one of concern. Prompto felt his heart sink. Not a moment later, an ear-splitting scream tore through the air. He whipped around to see you sink to your knees, eyes wide.
“Y/N!” Ignis called, his usually calm voice shaken. He couldn’t take the time to stop due to the remaining daemons closing in.
“Prompto, grab Y/N,” Gladio grunted in concentration, blocking a blow before continuing, “get them out of here!”
“But you-”
“We got this, Prom! Do as he says!” Noctis interrupted. Prompto set his jaw and ran to your side. He could see now the amount of blood was bad. He began to panic.
Your eyes were closed, and he could barely see your chest rising and falling with your shallow breaths. There were three deep gashes across your chest, and the blood was still oozing from them. Prompto stripped out of his vest, bunching it up and pressing it tightly against the slashes, applying a lot of pressure, trying to stop the blood from flowing.
“Don’t leave me, Y/N.” Prompto murmured softly. “Please hold on!” He looked around. The other three had managed to pull the fight away from the two of you, and he figured that you were fine where you were. He pulled your head into his lap, one hand still firmly on the jacket. He pulled a potion out of the armiger, lifting the vest long enough to break the glass above your injuries and let the potion drip onto your wounds.
Because of the severity of the cuts, it seemed like nothing was happening,
“Please,” Prompto whimpered. He didn’t notice the tears that started to fall. Your eyes finally opened, and you coughed weakly.
“P-Prom, don’t cry.” you reached a shaky hand up, lightly cupping his cheek. Prompto sniffled, not caring about the blood that would be smeared on his cheek from your hand. “I’m so proud of you.” you rasped softly.
“What?”
“You’ve done so much good.”
“Save your strength, Y/N, please.”
You shook your head, “There’s not much left, Prompto.”
“Don’t go.” he sobbed, taking your other hand in his.
“I’m sorry I never got to tell you.” You smiled sadly.
“Tell me what?” he asked quietly. You broke into a fit of coughs before you could answer. When you did, he had to lean in close to hear you.
“I love you, Prompto.” The last words you would ever say. Your eyes fell closed and your hand dropped limply from his face. Your chest fell still.
“Y/N?” He called your names several times, sobbing. He shook you lightly, trying without success to rouse you. He gave up and broke, clutching your body to his chest, crying hard.
When the others finally managed to join him, they froze, instantly recognizing the situation. Gladiolus’s shoulders slumped. Noctis turned away, closing his eyes tightly against the tears. Ignis took off his glasses, hanging his head low
You were out of time. Prompto had missed his chance to show you what you meant to him. He never got to hold you. Never got to kiss you. Never got to tell you that he loved you too.

Type Found - Chapter 2
I currently have a migraine. Sorry for any errors. Not linking just yet, will tomorrow. :D
This is the comfort part of hurt/comfort :D
AU: Slight Pokemon AU (Basically everything is the same, they just have a partner pokemon for funzies) Pairing: Platonic Chocobros Words: 3963 Warnings: Injury, bleeding, crying, implied that Prompto knows about his past. Anything else, please let me know!
Summary: After clearing out yet another empire base, Prompto is ready to celebrate. An unfamiliar sound grabs his attention, however, and draws him into a cramped room on the far end of the base. He knows its stupid and dangerous, but upon finding an injured animal locked in a cage, Prompto decides he needs to get it out of there. The question is... how?
--
It had taken a while to get the creature out of the cage. The sun had just started to set when Prompto finally was able to have the creature step outside of the room. He started leading it towards the exit, making sure that the others were remaining out of sight for as long as possible – the last thing he wanted was it going off and attacking them. However, his injuries were starting to catch up with him and Prompto was having difficulties walking.
Thankfully, they made it outside the base with few difficulties and made the short walk back to the haven the group had already set up camp on. At least, that’s what Prompto aimed to do. Instead, he ended up standing beside the creature as it took in the surroundings.
It was still, watching the trees sway in the breeze and listening to the birds cry as they flew overhead. It cautiously pawed at the dirt and grass below its feet, lowering its head to get a closer look. Prompto wondered if it could smell anything with that helmet on. It took longer than expected, but they did end up seated at the haven and Prompto began to clean up the wound on the creature’s hind leg. After covering it with bandage, Prompto sat cross-legged beside the creature’s head and enjoyed the light wind as it ruffled his hair.
One at a time, the others joined them.
Ignis was first. He simply offered a nod of acknowledgement when Prompto greeted him. The creature locked its gaze onto Ignis and watched him as he went about his usual return to camp business. It was only once he started to approach Prompto, a box of medical supplies in hand, that the creature started to curl in on itself and growl lowly.
Prompto slowly pet its mane, trying to calm it down, “It’s okay. It’s just Iggy. He’s not gonna hurt you.” He’d long since finished helping out the creature and was now just relaxing alongside it.
Ignis ignored the creature’s threatening nature and simply set himself down on the opposite side of Prompto, holding his hand out for Prompto’s injured arm which was quickly placed in it. He said nothing as he looked the cut over, adjusting his glasses as they slipped down his nose slightly. It wasn’t an extremely deep wound, but it would take a day or two to fully heal. Ignis let Prompto’s arm fall as he rummaged in the box for the cleaning solution. It was eerily quiet.
“This will sting a little.” Ignis’ voice was quiet once he finally did speak. Prompto’s arm had been brought back into his hand. The gunner nodded and took in a breath to prepare before the cotton dabbed against the wound. Prompto hissed and a pained whimper inadvertently fell from his lips as the fluid did its job. However, the sound had the creature beside him raising its head, ready to protect its saviour.
Ignis did not stop. He shifted his gaze from the cut he was cleaning to the creature’s watchful gaze and back. He was making a bit of a show of his actions, moving more than was strictly necessary.
“Uh, Iggy? What are you doing?” Prompto asked, head tilted in question.
“Cleaning the wound.” Ignis simply responded.
“Okay… s,sure…”
“Am I doing something wrong?”
“No! No, no! Of course not!” Prompto gestured wildly with his free arm, trying to search for the words he needed to explain what he was thinking, “It was just that, y’know, you were doing it, like… weird?”
“How so?”
Prompto groaned in frustration. He knew that Ignis knew exactly what he meant, but the advisor always wanted to hear it from them. “I dunno! It was like, you were, doing it… bigger for some reason!”
Ignis only hummed a noise in response. Prompto was going to ask again when a weight rested upon his knee. He looked down to find the creature resting its head almost in his lap. Its eyes were still trained on Ignis’ hands, but it seemed far calmer. It was only watching curiously. That was when it clicked in Prompto’s brain. Ignis was making a show of it so that the creature could see that he was helping Prompto. Warmth bubbled in Prompto’s stomach, untying some of the knot that had settled earlier in the day, and he relaxed as Ignis started to wrap bandages around his arm.
Ignis was getting to his feet when Noctis arrived. The prince was avoiding looking in Prompto’s direction entirely.
“Hey Noct!” Prompto called out, trying to gain his best friend’s attention. He only got an odd grunt in return before Noctis entered the tent and pulled the flaps down, effectively shutting out the world. Prompto’s already weak smile dropped completely. “Oh, uh, yeah, okay. Um… see you, later?” His voice trailed off. The knot tightened again and, absent-mindedly, his hand began to run through the creature’s mane again. Prompto’s focus narrowed to the rock floor of the haven, suddenly finding the glowing blue runes one of the most interesting sights he’d ever seen.
Prompto didn’t see Ignis’ exasperated look towards the now closed tent flaps, nor the moment as the advisor descended from the haven for a brief moment. He could vaguely hear something that sounded like Ignis was calling someone over, but Prompto’s mind was too far away to truly know or care. It wasn’t until heavy footsteps started to approach him and the creature began to growl lowly once more that Prompto looked up.
He forced a smile and tried his best to sound casual, “Heya.”
Gladio grunted in response. He easily ignored the growling creature beside Prompto and got close enough to crouch down to check on his arm, “How’s it?” Gladio asked, his voice quiet enough that it was more rumble than speech.
“Good. Iggy cleaned it up all nice.” Prompto sent a grin over to the aforementioned man who’d settled himself into one of the camping chairs. Ignis simply gave a gentle tilt of his head and small gesture with the can between his fingers in acknowledgement. “I’ll be fine!”
“You sure?” Gladio’s large hand rested on – or rather, engulfed Prompto’s shoulder. There was a light air of threat as Gladio tapped one of his fingers against the muscle at Prompto’s back, waiting for the gunner to say something.
Prompto swallowed hard, “I’m good. Promise. Like, there are aches and stuff, but nothing all that bad, I swear.”
“Okay. Just don’t push yourself, alright?”
“Yessir!” Prompto playfully saluted with his uninjured arm.
Gladio snorted in amusement before dropping his gaze to the creature that remained by Prompto’s side. Its eyes were narrowed dangerously, its growl now quieter. Gladio seemed to almost be sizing the creature up. Prompto shifted his eyes between the two, waiting to see what was about to happen.
“So, how does this thing eat?” Gladio suddenly asked.
Prompto’s face scrunched up in thought. He hadn’t considered that. Everything had happened so fast, little details like that didn’t exactly matter when all that was on Prompto’s mind was escaping with the creature, but the shield had brought up a good point. Prompto looked down at the creature, taking in the almost rust-coloured helmet that covered its entire head. His fingers tangled back into the light grey mane, “Not sure… Dunno if this thing opens…”
“Knowing them, probably not… This thing’s probably welded shut or something…” Prompto watched as Gladio’s lip twitched in disgust. The shield then sighed and stood back up to full height, dusting his hands off, “But let’s not count it out just yet. Iggy’s looking over the papers that were all over that room, seeing if there’s anything there to help us figure it out.”
That had Prompto’s gaze turning back to the advisor. How he hadn’t noticed the small stack of papers in his hands previously, Prompto wasn’t sure, but now it was all he could look at. He desperately wanted to know what was written on the pages. He wanted to know all he could about the creature that was resting against his side. He wanted to know its given name so he could change it immediately, resetting its life then and there. Prompto leaned down – ignoring the aching protests from his back – and buried his face into the creature’s neck. “Hopefully, its good news…”
The creature’s body was warm, its mane incredibly soft. It was solid beneath Prompto and the gunner allowed himself to truly relax. He shifted slightly so he could get into a more comfortable position before laying more of his weight against the creature. It didn’t seem to mind too much, if the way it settled itself down was any indication. Prompto closed his eyes with a gentle exhale.
Prompto really didn’t mean to fall asleep.
He must have been out for a good few hours. The sky was dark, and the fire was now crackling away in the pit. Prompto rubbed his eyes and stretched, glancing around the haven for the rest of the group.
It was easy to find Ignis. The advisor stood at the camp stove as usual, clearly in the middle of preparing the group’s dinner. Prompto watched for a while, admiring the way Ignis’ hands moved with such grace. He went to say something when a soft grunt of effort drew Prompto’s attention over to Gladio, who was only a short ways away. The shield had evidently removed his shirt earlier in the evening before he began to do push ups. Prompto stared, still in awe at Gladio’s ability to do them one-armed, switching between each arm with ease even after seeing it easily a hundred times. The creature that he’d been resting on sharply lifted its head, causing Prompto to jump in surprise. It started growling again, bringing its head in closer.
“Hey, it’s okay, buddy.” Prompto scratched the creature’s neck comfortingly, trying to calm it down. His eyes flicked over in the direction it was staring to find Noctis standing awkwardly just in front of the tent. The prince looked as though he was trying desperately to look unphased by the growling, but the fear in his eyes gave him away. “It’s okay. It’s just Noct.” Prompto shushed the creature quietly.
Noctis cautiously took the smallest step towards where Prompto and the creature were sat, only to flinch back when the creature huffed out a breath. He seemed to be reconsidering whatever he was going to do when a large hand clapped his back and Gladio’s weight started to crush the prince. “Get off.” Noctis attempted to pry himself out from under his shield.
“Nah. Not until you actually go speak to Prompto.” Gladio said casually, able to completely ignore the light force of Noctis trying to push him.
“I was going to. I can’t if you’re crushing me.”
“Didn’t look like it to me. Looked like you were about to chicken out.”
Noctis scowled harshly, “I was not about to chicken out.”
“Sure, princess.”
Finally, Gladio lifted his weight off of the prince. He pressed his hand harder into Noctis’ back, essentially shoving the smaller into Prompto’s space. Noctis almost tripped over his feet at the sudden movement but managed to keep himself from landing face first into both Prompto and the creature that was seated half on Prompto’s lap. It was continuing to growl protectively but was making no movements that indicated it would attack. It seemed that it had realised the men were not immediate threats, or at least were trusted by its saviour – a thought that had a pleasant, warm feeling settling into Prompto’s stomach.
Prompto keep quiet as he watched the awkward interaction. Noctis shuffled around, keeping some distance from the creature, while their eyes were locked. The prince ended up coming to sit behind Prompto, gently tossing his arms over his best friend’s shoulders and resting some of his weight onto his back.
“Is this okay?” Noctis whispered as he fidgeted. Prompto could tell he was trying to be cautious but not outwardly obvious; the last thing Noctis would want would be to hurt Prompto anymore than he already had. Noctis was reserved but was easy to read when it came to those he cared for.
Prompto let out a short laugh, “Duh, ‘course is it!”
“No, like… does it hurt?”
“Nah, I’m okay. You can relax, I won’t break or anything. I’m not made of glass, dude.” Prompto replied with a grin.
Noctis only let out a huff before burying his face into Prompto’s shoulder. The gunner didn’t press him for anything. Instead, he pulled out his phone and scrolled through his usual apps, seeing what he’d missed during the day. Prompto was about to open up King’s Knight to check on his dailies when Noctis’ finally spoke again.
“’m sorry…” Noctis mumbled.
Prompto put his phone down into his lap and reached up with his good arm to pat Noctis’ mess of black hair, “Thanks. It’s cool though, I don’t blame any of you for it. It was kinda stupid of me…” He chuckled softly.
“No, seriously. I’m sorry.” Noctis raised his head from Prompto’s shoulder so he could make eye contact, “I didn’t want you hurt, but you got even more hurt from what I did.”
“I’m sorry too.” Gladio echoed from across the haven, now sitting on his knees as he threw a towel over in the direction of the tent, “But it was pretty dumb of you to get in there.”
Prompto’s gaze dropped to the creature below him. He ran his hand down from its neck, over the length of its body and back again, “Yeah, but I couldn’t just leave him there…”
“We know, Prom…” Noctis tightened his hold around his best friend’s shoulders for a moment before relaxing once again.
An odd silence spread across the haven. There seemed to be so much more that each of them wanted to say, but they just weren’t quite sure how to say it. Prompto simply continued to pet the creature he’d saved. He knew he’d taken a crazy stupid risk getting into the cage, he knew he could have died, but it was worth it. The chance to use the freedom he’d been granted to give another the same was worth all the bruises, cuts, and aches. Prompto couldn’t stop the sappy smile that tugged on his lips. He suddenly had an idea.
“Hey Noct, wanna pet him?”
If Noctis hadn’t been leaning on something, Prompto thought he’d probably have fallen over. The prince started spewing half sentences about how he couldn’t and shouldn’t, but Prompto ignored them. He grabbed Noctis’ arm and pulled it down, gently placing his hand upon the creature’s mane. The second his fingers made contact, Noctis snapped his mouth shut. Prompto held his breath as he watched Noctis’ fingers cautiously begin to move slightly.
“It’s soft…” Noctis finally said.
“I know, isn’t it?!” Prompto grinned, almost bouncing as he went to turn around. He winced and let out a soft grunt of pain as his back protested the sudden movement.
“Careful. As much as I’m sure you are excited, you need to be cautious of your injuries.” Ignis’ voice cut through the last of the tension. He approached the trio and crouched down low, inspecting the creature’s form. Ignis seemed to encourage it to watch as he joined Noctis’ hand in carding through its mane for a moment before bringing his touch up to the helmet.
The creature had given up growling long ago. It seemed simply lost in terms of what to do with all the attention it was getting. Prompto wanted to throw himself into its neck and nuzzle it until it responded in kind, but he refrained. Instead, he watched as Ignis inspected the metal contraption.
“The reports said very little about feeding and care, unfortunately.” Ignis said, “However, it was easy to find that they had given this creature the name of Type:Null.”
“Type:Null..?” Prompto let the name drip off of his tongue. It felt so cold and clinical.
“Yes. It seems the empire managed to find some foreign research notes from an unknown location and began their own experimentations to recreate the results. Apparently, it is powerful enough to slay creatures from other dimensions, the helmet helps to contain some of the power, making it unlikely to lose control…” Ignis trailed off as he leaned in closer to Type:Null’s helmet, his gloved fingers now tracing along some of the indents and lines. Prompto wanted to ask more questions, but a loud clunk had all thoughts fleeing from his mind.
The bottom half of the helmet was now hanging slightly open.
Immediately, Prompto’s mouth was mirroring the helmet. “How’d you-?” He started to ask.
“A simple combination of observation and intuition.” Ignis curtly cut Prompto off before he could make too big a scene. “Dinner is almost ready. I believe that you and Noct should probably clean your hands before you eat.” With an almost imperceptible smile, the advisor turned on his heel and walked back over to the camp stove.
The two younger men did as they were asked, even if it did take a moment for the Type:Null to allow Prompto to leave. As fast as they could, the pair dropped down from the haven and took the very short walk to the nearby lake. They washed themselves up as fast as they could; Prompto hadn’t realised he’d had some dried blood on his cheek until Noctis splashed water in his face to clean it which led to a brief water fight. It couldn’t have been more than a couple of minutes when they clambered back up to their camp, yet somehow things seemed to have shifted fairly significantly.
Gladio was as dressed as he would be with his open shirt, helping Ignis plate up the food. The camping chairs had been moved about a little, bringing them closer together. Between two of the chairs, the Type:Null had settled itself down. It wasn’t growling, wasn’t watching every movement as intently, wasn’t snapping its head around at every sound. It was relaxed. Prompto couldn’t help the swell of his chest and the tears the pricked at his eyes. He rubbed them harshly for a moment before skipping over to see if he could help with anything while Noctis simply took up one of the chairs.
A few minutes later, all four of them were sat in chairs, chatting happily, and eating their way through the delicious food. Type:Null was between Prompto and Ignis, the jaw of its helmet still hanging awkwardly open. It was happily accepting the meal that was carefully being slipped into the gap by Ignis. It was comfortable and rewarding.
“So, Prompto, what are ya gonna call it?” Gladio asked.
Prompto glanced back down to the Type:Null who immediately made eye contact with him. He stared into its eyes for a short while, thinking.
“How about… Nullie?” Gladio snorted in amusement while Noctis almost choked on the bite he was taking. Prompto pouted, “What?”
Noctis shook his head, trying to recover, “N-nothing. Just,” he coughed a few times, “wasn’t expecting it.”
“I happen to think its wonderful.” Ignis complimented, brushing his fingers across the odd axe-like shape that protruded from the top of the helmet. They’d learnt it was likely an extension of the Type: Null’s mane.
“Definitely cute.” Gladio admitted, though he was still clearly amused by the choice.
Prompto stuck his tongue out at the shield childishly, “Well, he is cute. So it’s perfect then.”
The rest of the evening passed with relative normalcy. Ignis collected up their plates and Gladio got up to help wash up. Noctis reclined further into the camp chair and pulled out his phone, challenging Prompto to several rounds in King’s Knight. It was getting to that point where they’d need to retire for the night when a hand rested on Prompto’s shoulder, distracting him, and causing him to ultimately lose to Noctis.
“Doesn’t count! Iggy distracted me!” Prompto protested as Noctis rubbed the victory in his face.
“Apologies. However, there is something rather important that you must see to.”
Prompto tilted his head questioningly, “Uhhh, there is?”
Ignis gestured to Nullie, who was laying at Prompto’s feet, sleepily watching the two young men banter back and forth during their gaming session. The advisor then held out a box to Prompto. The realisation hit Prompto, and he let out a shaky “Oh yeah…”
With the lightest of grips, Prompto took the box. He carefully lifted the top and stared down at the colourful array of balls inside. He reverently stared at each of them for a moment before his brow creased slightly and he counted them. Suddenly, Prompto snapped his head up, “What? Iggy, I can’t just-”
“You can pick whichever you like.”
“There’s no way I could-” Prompto started to protest again but was cut off once again. This time, it was Noctis.
“We’ve been holding those for a while for you…” The prince said quietly. His eyes were locked onto his phone, but it was clear Noctis wasn’t really looking at anything. His cheeks were slightly pinker, though Prompto knew that he’d say it was from the heat of the fire.
“For me?” Prompto asked in a whisper.
“We all have our own partners.” Ignis tapped absent-mindedly at the red and white ball that sat at his hip, “With how this trip progressed so rapidly, we all came to the assumption that you might find yourself one along the way. Thus, we made sure that you would have the option of choice.”
For what felt like the hundredth time that day, Prompto felt his eyes starting to swim with tears. His gaze dropped back down to the box in his hands. Each of them were labelled with their names, all brand new and shiny. It was too much. After a few minutes of agonising silence, Prompto gingerly reached in and pulled out a green ball with red tear drop shapes – it had been labelled as Friend Ball, and he couldn’t get it out of his mind after first reading that. The lid was lowered carefully and Prompto held the box back towards Ignis, who took it from his grasp.
Prompto slipped out of the chair and to his knees, ball in hand. Nullie raised its head to watch him, eyeing the new thing with interest. Prompto swallowed hard and held it out, “You can stay here with me, with us. This can be your home. You don’t have to, obviously, but… I would love it if you did.” Prompto felt the words just tumble out of his mouth without his control.
Nullie’s gaze flicked between Prompto’s hopeful gaze, Noctis’ attempt at bored disinterest, Ignis’ watchful eye and the ball being held out before it. There was a moment where the creature seemed to consider its options. Then its helmeted head lowered so it tapped against the ball.
A shock of red light burst out from the ball as it opened. It engulfed Nullie and seemed to suck the entire body of the Type:Null inside. The light faded after the entire creature entered and it snapped shut. Prompto couldn’t bring himself to breathe as he stared at the ball in his hands. The light on the front pulsed rhythmically and it rocked from side to side for a few seconds before it stilled completely.
It took a second for everything to catch up to Prompto. When it finally did, the tears slipped from his eyes finally and he grasped a hold of the green ball tightly, hugging it to his chest. “Thank you.” He murmured as quiet as humanly possible, “I promise I’ll keep you safe.”

So for those who want to and haven’t yet played FFXV, this will contain spoilers.  But I have to . . . . go on, for the lack of a better term . . . . about this.
So I finally completed chapter 10 of the game (somehow I drew up enough emotional resolve to finish it) and the relationship dynamics of the characters are something that I absolutely love, but in during chapter 10, I absolutely hated it.
I hated seeing Gladio getting all up in Noct’s face about not being able to move on from the events surrounding getting Leviathan’s blessing, and just staying mad at him.  I even hated how he threw Ignis’s injury at him.  The entire chapter, I was seething at Gladio for not having enough compassion for Noctis.  And was glad when Ignis finally shut him down at the end of the chapter.
But for Noct and Gladio’s relationship and characters, it absolutely made sense in retrospect.
I have no doubt that the two of them were really good friends at the start of the game.  But the background information given in the Brotherhood episodes show that out of the three of Noct’s close friends, Gladio and Noct were the ones who got off on the wrong foot at the beginning.  And it’s because their personalities didn’t naturally mesh.
Noctis does not communicate well, and on top of that, he tends to bottle up his emotions.  So he comes off as aloof and apathetic, even kind of flippant about his upcoming role as king.  Some of this could probably be explained by the fact that Noctis was traumatized rather young. Gladio, on the other hand, was raised in a house with a history of protecting the royal line.  A strong sense of duty was instilled in him from the very start, even the understanding that he may very well have to give up his life for the king (or prince, as it started out) despite his personal feelings of the royalty in question.  This sense of duty was coupled with a strong and aggressive personality.  Which all in all, works well for a bodyguard.  But it didn’t sit well for him to see the future king acting rather reluctant about any kind of training required to be king and showing little care about the people around him.  (Didn’t help that Noctis’ contrast was Regis, who was a well respected king.)
That dislike of Noctis wasn’t resolved until Gladio saw Noctis willingly take blame and punishment for sake of Iris, Gladio’s little sister, just so she wouldn’t get in trouble.  It was then that Gladio realized that Noctis wasn’t everything he thought him to be, and that Noct wasn’t just a spoiled, lazy brat of a prince.  (Though in fairness, and Noctis does get his fair share of teasing, he does have a lazy streak.)  Thinking back on it, after that incident Gladio has a different approach to Noctis’s training.  Gladio’s personality didn’t change, but his view of Noctis certainly did.
That being said, it did not mean Gladio had a perfect understanding of Noctis and everything that went on in his head.  Nor did it mean that he and Noct shared the same perspective.
For Gladio, he could see that it was, yes, upsetting that Luna died, but Noctis now had the duty of wearing a powerful ring and continuing on in order to make sure Luna’s death wasn’t in vain.  In Gladio’s eyes, the best way to mourn Luna was to tackle kingship head on.  After all, that’s what he would have done.
But Noctis wasn’t Gladio.  And he certainly didn’t process emotion like Gladio.  Story-wise, he likely hadn’t gotten over his dad’s death (a fact that the marshal Cor recognized), the obliteration of his home still felt fresh, and he turned around to lose Luna, and woke up to find Ignis had been severely injured during Noct’s battle with Leviathan- something he blames himself for.  To top that all off, he inherited his father’s ring of power; a ring that he had seen sap away Regis’s life.  And he was expected to wear said ring.  Emotionally, he had imploded.  His entire life people had been preparing him to be king.  But very few people, if any, actually prepared him for the emotional damage that would come with watching the people around him sacrifice themselves for his sake.
A fact that Gladio couldn’t understand and Noctis couldn’t explain.
As a result, Noctis’s drive and motivation to continue skidded to halt as he grappled with loss and fear.  And Gladio saw that as disrespectful and cowardly.
The only person of that friend group who actually understood what was going on with Noctis was Ignis.  Ignis had been one of those people who constantly pushed Noctis to be prepared to inherit the throne while Regis was still alive.  But he was the only one to see Noctis have an actual breakdown from the stress and grief.  And in that breakdown, Ignis found out that Noctis wasn’t trying to shy away from his duty of becoming king, but was having a hard time dealing with the fact that inheriting the throne meant having his father die.  He and Noctis developed a relationship where Ignis recognized when to back off and when to give nudges.
Because of that, it made sense that Ignis was the one to end the fight between Gladio and Noctis.  I mean, even if Prompto knew the full weight of what Noctis was feeling, he did not command enough respect from Gladio to get him to chill out.  He tried at the start and was literally pushed away.  I think Ignis may have let the fight carry on as long as it did because he was trying to cope with the fact that he wasn’t regaining his eyesight, and because he was probably hoping that the two would reconcile on their own.  Or that if his eyesight returned, the tension would ease.  It was only after he accepted the fact that his eyesight wouldn’t return that he shut down the fight.
Honestly, the whole thing felt rather natural.  (I may or may not have been muttering under my breath every time Gladio said something to Noct in that episode.)  And I found it particularly interesting how the tension between Noct and Gladio affected the whole group.  There wasn’t any chipper banter during battles or while walking around.  The photo quest Noctis was given wasn’t deferred to Prompto like those quests usually were.
And the writer in me is just giddy with the relationship dynamics between these characters.  Like I said, I hated it in the moment.  But I love how I can look at it go, “Yeah, that felt very true to their characters.”
So I don’t know if this was a rant, breakdown, analysis, or if I was just describing what was very easily extrapolated, but I just wanted to go on about it for a while.

Noctis, Prompto, & Stella all went to high school together, and during the Brotherhood Era of my AU they were constantly getting into all sorts of trouble and trying to hide it from (a very exasperated) teenage Ignis.
one day Prompto brought over a magic kit to Noct's apartment, intending to try out a few tricks. in the process, he ended up handcuffing his & Noct's wrists together and then couldn't get the key to work.
since Stella was the only witness, and Noct had an important meeting to attend later that afternoon, they frantically sent Stella to the store with the Royal Credit Card to buy another magic kit, hoping a second key might work. except Stella couldn't remember which kit Prompto had, so she bought four different ones (which all ended up being wrong).
they did end up getting the handcuffs off, but not before Stella dramatically faked a fainting spell as a last resort in order to distract Ignis (who found out anyway). meanwhile Regis saw the charges on the credit card and assumed Noctis must be getting into magic. which is important because...
...i once saw a video of a "human crane game", where you essentially get lifted and lowered down to grab as many prizes as you can within a time limit. it was at a mall or something. and naturally the first thing i did was imagine Stella doing that, because it's hilarious.
so part 2 of this is that a few days later Ignis was at the Citadel and had gone to Regis' personal quarters to speak with him about something. when he got there, Regis was preoccupied with a book of card tricks he'd bought in an attempt to relate to Noctis.
the TV was on in the background, turned to a news station showing footage of a live event they were doing at a local mall with--you guessed it--a human crane game. and there, of course, was Stella in the harness, breaking the current prize record, while Prompto cheered her on in the background and Noctis tried to blend into the crowd. on a school day, no less.
so Ignis ended up distracting Regis from noticing the TV by practicing card tricks with him for the rest of the afternoon, all the while imagining how he was gonna absolutely kill the three of them later.

Uhhh Second Read
I have no idea what number I’m on anymore...
~~~~~
Noctis
So many parties! If Noctis didn’t know he’d be caught by Ignis and that it would make his father upset to not witness, he would have eloped with you. But no he had to do this by royal protocol, and royal protocol meant weeks of engagement parties, and fancy dinners.
Still, he had to admit if he had to go through it with anyone he was so happy it was you. You standing so proudly by his side, showing off all the Princess training that Ignis and your tutors put you through. It also meant that he got to see you in all those pretty dresses. He was so busy admiring you that he almost missed his cue to address the Duke, Duchess and their daughter, who had quite the crush on the Prince.
“A pleasure!” The Duchess cooed, before nudging her daughter who was staring so at Noctis. The Duchess’s eyes turned to you standing beside Noctis, Ignis flanking the two of you, hissing between her and her daughter, as Noctis was greeting the Duke.
‘My gods, you’d think the commoner would even attempt to try to impress royalty.’
The Duchess daughter let out a snicker in their native language, ‘I know Mummy, She looks ridiculous.’
Noctis wasn’t certain what she had muttered, but heard the offending intake of air from Ignis behind him, watching his advisor step forward. Only to stop as you rose your hand halting Ignis with a smile.
‘My Duchess, at least one of us knows the meaning of modesty.’ You replied to the shocked face of the Duchess and Princess in their native tongue, offering them your hand as was protocol. ‘After all, why would I need to impress anyone other than my husband. Unlike some persons.’
The Duke stammered, as he pressed a kiss to your hand and ushered his family off the platform.
Noctis stared in confusion, “What was that?”
You smiled toward the Prince hearing Ignis chuckle softly, “Oh nothing seems my dress is the talk of the night.”
~~~~~
Prompto
This was fun!
You couldn’t help the large stupid smile on your face as you watched these four brave men running around after the Cuddle of Chocobos that managed to be playing keep-away with Prompto’s camera.
How they even got the camera was in itself a mystery. Yet none of the guys would ever get close enough to the Chocobo to even have a chance of getting the strap. Lucky the camera was in its shockproof case when it was taken so there was no worry about it accidentally shattering.
“Y/N, aren’t you going to help?” Prompto called.
You put on a bright over the top smile to your boyfriend, “What’s in it for me?”
Prompto stopped chasing the Chocobo along with the others as they all stared at you.  Only to hear you cackling as you moved towards the battlefield, asking everyone to politely stand behind you.
“I get dinner choice tonight and for the next two hotel stops.” You stated over your shoulders, before turning back to the Chocobo.  Waiting for one to run by as you reached out without a second thought and managed to climb on without a harness to guide you.
Leaping from Chocobo to Chocobo before managing to get to the one holding the camera, reaching forward taking a hold of the lanyard, before prying its mouth open to get your prize. Manging to flip off its back landing before the guys.
“And here you are.” You smiled.
“Y/N, where are Eos did you learn that?” Ignis inquired.
You gave that same over the top smile, “You guys don’t know everything about me.” Only for your eyes to turn to Prompto as you heard him mutter. “Nothing’s broken is it, Sweetie?”
“Holy shit, my girlfriend’s a superhero.”
~~~~~
Gladiolus
You would never forget the first time you were invited to the annual Amicita camping trip. Having been Gladiolus'  girlfriend, and Clarus seeing just how head over heels you were for each other, the man invited you along.
Now to say that the elder Amicita didn’t like you was wrong, he liked you cause you would be on his son's case when he wasn’t, and you brought out the best in Gladiolus. The thing being, you were very “Girly”. Not that he had an issue with that.
At any party that could be thrown into, he knew that you had it in the bag.
It was just that they would be camping in tents in nature for the next few days, and you were known for your fashion-forward dresses, and your long nails and always styled hair. You just didn’t scream nature, yet Gladiolus was so insistent on you coming along, and Iris was finally happy to have some girl time.
“You got it, babe?” Gladiolus called, as you followed them up the cliffs where you all would be camping for the evening.
“Yep.” You smiled back with a slight pant.
“Gladiolus carry Y/Ns, backpack for her.” Clarus called, “I raised you better than that.”
“Oh it’s fine Mr. Amicitia, I just somehow got a rock in my shoe.” You smiled, sitting down on the boulder to remove said rock.
“Have you been camping before Big Sis?” Iris asked as you relaced your boots.
“It’s been a while, I had to replace a lot of gear.” You smiled, before turning to the others. “Are we ready?”
Gladiolus pointed beyond the cliff peak, “We’re heading over there and will set up camp on the other side of the pasture.”
“Ready whenever you are.”
Clarus looked to his son, couldn’t Gladiolus see that you were struggling. Maybe they should stop prior to the pasture so that you didn’t wear yourself out. It would be the first year that the Amicitia’s didn’t come out in their spot, but if it meant it was easier on you, they would have to deal with the sacrifice this time.
So while making their way down, Clarus turned toward the rest of his party announcing they would be camping there for the evening.
“Dad, we still have plenty of light, we can make it to the camping spot in no time,” Gladiolus replied.
Clarus stared at his son, before turning a glancing toward you, “We don’t want to push ourselves.”
“It’s not that big, an hour tops, right?” You smiled standing between Gladiolus and Iris.
Clarus tried to argue but figured there would be no harm in turning around.
So when an Alphatusk suddenly attacked midway through the field, he was quick to tell you to move back with Iris, only to instead find you grabbing something from your bag and rushing pass Gladiolus, your left hand coming up only to find blade claws on your hands, and the way you moved showed that you had plenty of practice in them.
No more than 10 minutes later, did you all stand on the defeated enemy, as you removed your claws attaching them back to your bag. “Everyone okay, I have some first aid in my...”
You were stopped in your tracks as Clarus hugged you tightly, “Mr. Amicitia?”
“I apologize for being so judgemental.”
You were confused for a moment only to look over his shoulder to his children who were struggling to hold back their laughter. “Did you two not tell him that I was trained!?”
~~~~~
Ignis
“Your Majesty please.” Ignis groaned as Noctis picked apart his meal for the evening. All the vegetables being pushed over to either his or your plates.
“Ignis, it's fine.” You cooed to your boyfriend, stroking his arm. “Noctis is a grown man and should be allowed to make his own choices.”
Ignis stared at you in confusion, only to find you give him a warm smile before starting on your own meal.
“See, Specs, at least Y/N loves me,” Noctis replied rather smugly.
“Noctis, Ignis loves you more than anything.” You giggled.
“Please don’t encourage him, Love.”  Ignis sighed.
As dinner was cleared from the table, you leaned over picking up Noctis’s glass. “Noct did you enjoy your smoothie. I can make more if you want.”
“Really? Thanks, Y/N.” Noctis cheered.
“I’ll get you one too, Prompto.” You smiled moving into the kitchen where Ignis was washing dishes.
Ignis glanced as you began setting up the blender, watching as you placed in a few fruits, followed by a ton of vegetables and blending it until it appeared a pink color, topping it with a few more strawberries.
“Love, have you been...”
“Putting enough vegetables in his smoothies for the last two weeks to take down a King Behemoth? Yes, yes I have.” You smiled.
Ignis could only chuckle as you moved back out to the living room to give the two younger boys their smoothies. He knew that he loved you for a reason.

• Aerith was confused. She thought your relationship was real? And good? And fulfilling? So why were you walking around, arms linked with Zack, kissing his cheek gently? She was torn between confronting you right away and just walking away and sulking. In the end, she decided for the latter.
• When you called her later that day, she didn’t pick up. You were confused since she usually picked up within five seconds. You called her again and this time she even rejected your call. You were beyond confused at this point, so you decided to go over to her place and talk to her face to face.
• When you arrived, you were stunned when Elmyra refused to let you see Aerith. You thought back to the last time you two talked. Had you sad something that upset Aerith? Had you hurt her feelings in any way? If that was the case, you wanted to apologize.
• Aerith came out of her room when she heard you and her mother fighting. When she told you to ‘leave and never come back’ you begged her to tell you what you did wrong so you could make it right.
• You could see the hurt in her eyes as she told you that she saw you with Zack. You frowned in confusion. You? With Zack? You hadn’t talk to him in weeks and even then it was just a quick ‘Hello, how are you?’. But Aerith insisted that she saw you earlier that day, kissing Zack gently.
• It took you a while to put the pieces together. You couldn’t help but chuckle when you finally understood what happened. Aerith and Elmyra were very irritated when they heard you chuckle and were ready to snap when you pulled your phone out.
• They knew you had a sister but they didn’t expect you to be a twin. Their eyes grew wide when they saw the picture you showed them. “Zack is her boyfriend. And I know she and him met earlier today. I’m sorry, I never told you I had a twin-sister. This would have made things easier.” You giggled again.
• You assured Aerith that you would never betray her like that. Elmyra apologized for being angry with you before leaving you two alone. Aerith apologized as well but you assured her that it was alright. You were just happy that you could clear things up.

• Zack was thrilled when he saw you during his patrol. He decided that a short break to talk with you wouldn’t hurt so he sneaked up on you... only to grab you from behind and swirl you around, while laughing happily. He had done this countless times before and you two always laughed about it. But this time... you weren’t so happy.
• When he sat you down you were freaking out, calling him a creep for just grabbing a woman and picking her up, who the hell he thought he was and that you would make sure that they were consequences.
• Zack was stunned. What the hell was going on? He had seen you mad before, yes. But never this mad. And never at him. This was scary. He tried reasoning. Saying that he had done this multiple times and you two always laughed about this and that he didn’t think it would be an issue this time.
• When you said that you didn’t know him and he should stop talking nonsense, something in his chest clenched painfully. He just couldn’t understand why you would deny knowing him. The feeling in his chest got worse when Aerith joined you two and you kissed her to greet her.
• “(Name)... what’s going on?” He asked quietly. That’s when you perked up. “Wait...” You mumbled, eyeing him curiously. “...are you Zack?” He frowned when Aerith giggled. What were you two playing?
• Now you were laughing. This was ridiculous. But at least you were apologizing for yelling at him. “I’m sorry, Zack.... but... I’m not (Name).” Wat. What did you mean with ‘I’m not (Name).’?
• Well apparently, you were not... you. “You” were in fact your sister. Twin-sister that is. He knew you had a twin-sister, but he never anticipated that she looked exactly like you. Not even the slightest difference on her face, body-type, posture or style. It was almost creepy.
• But Zack was a little embarrassed. He blushed madly and apologized over and over again, until your sister couldn’t help but laugh at the situation and assure him it was alright. If he promised to never just pick someone up without talking to them first. Of course he promised. Your sister didn’t need to tell him, he was definitely ‘cured’ for life.
Tumblr media
• Noctis looked at the scene unfolding right in front of his eyes. He couldn’t believe what was happening. His girlfriend and his best friend... were kissing. Each other. In public.
• Prompto told him that he finally conquered the woman he was pining after for months. He was happy for his friend. He really was. But... had he known that it involved the two people he loved the most backstabbing him, he wouldn’t have congratulated Prompto.
• It hurt him. It hurt him terribly. He didn’t want to see this but at the same time, he couldn’t look away. What the hell were you two thinking? Were people right? Were you only with him because he was the prince? Not because you loved him as a person?
• Noctis was ready to snap when you and Prompto turned around and saw him, smiling brightly and waving, asking him to come over. Were you stupid or something?
• Noctis glared at you both and turned around to leave... only to run into you. He froze and frowned as he looked at you... and then at you next to Prompto... and then at you right in front of him again.
• You couldn’t stop that giggle from escaping your mouth. It was cute when Noctis was confused. But right now, you knew, you had some explaining to do. So you waved Prompto and your sister over and introduced her to Noct.
• Noctis blushed slightly. How could he think so badly of you? Well of course, he didn’t know that you had a twin-sister but he should have at least... considered a less dramatic and no worst-case-scenario?
• In the end though, you could all laugh about the situation. You were happy to finally introduce Noctis to your sister, and he was happy that obviously, people were all wrong when accusing you of dating him for selfish reasons. You wouldn’t betray him. Never did, never will.
Tumblr media
• Prompto was so in love with you. Head over heels. He loves spending time with you, he loves spoiling you, he loves holding you in his arms... the list is endless. And he was convinced that you felt the same. Or so he thought. Until he saw you and Noctis in a very intimate moment.
• Prompto was outside, looking for new locations for photoshoots, when he saw Noctis fishing at one of his favorite places. That by itself wasn’t very unusual. It was rather the fact that you were with him. In a bikini. Leaning onto him while enjoying the sun.
• Prompto might have found explanations for that. You two were good friends, why shouldn’t you spend some time together... even this close? But when you started kissing Noct... he ran out of explanations.
• Prompto felt horrible. He was a walking ball of anxiety by nature and you were originally the one who gave him comfort and built up his confidence. And now you were taking that all away from him. He felt like he was falling into an endless pit. He couldn’t watch this any longer. He needed to leave.
• Once he was back in the city, he was heading straight for his apartment. He didn’t want to see anybody, talk to anybody, whatsoever. He just wanted to lay in bed, pull the covers over his head and pretend the world wasn’t there for a little bit. What he didn’t expect was you waiting for him at his place, preparing his favorite meal. He had two questions. 1) How on earth were you back here faster than he was? And 2) Why were you acting like nothing happened?
• You noticed his foul mood and asked him what was wrong. If he didn’t find a nice place today, if he got into a fight or something else happened? Prompto didn’t answer and instead just glared at you, making you gulp heavily. He was hesitant to answer. You hurt him so badly and he didn’t want you to hurt him even more.
• After gently urging him a little more, he told you about what he witnessed. You and Noct at the lake outside of the city, smooching around and stuff. You hid your face in your hands as you squealed before running over to him and hugging him tightly.
• Prompto felt so stupid when you reminded him of a certain detail: You had a twin-sister. You told him before. You showed him pictures. And you also told him that your sister was dating Noctis. How could he forget? He was so stupid! You hugged him even tighter when you felt him relax into your embrace. You pecked his cheeks multiple times as you pulled him impossibly closer and promised him over and over again that you would never hurt him like that. You loved him. Why would you want someone else?
