Have you listed to Nialls new song or watched the video? Any reactions?

I don't really connect much with the song - there's nothing about it that I find that interesting. But as people know I'm always up for talking music videos and find them interesting as a genre, even the boring ones.

I do think this is Niall's best music video by several order of magnitude - but that's sort of not really a compliment by itself. I thought the NH2 music videos were really bad - smug is not a good look on him - and the performances and the situations combined in a really awkward way.

The wisest decision in this video was to have him playing a guitar - it's really obvious that he's a more natural and better music video with one. He is a very uncommitted lip-syncer, which was most apparent in the few seconds he didn't have a guitar with him. But once he's got an instrument he's really at ease.

I thought the first setting was the most effective (although it does raise questions about who he actually makes music with - as opposed to who is in his music videos - which is far less steady work and less lucrative. There was an ease and an energy to it.

The other two settings were a just less successful, mostly because I think they were trying to do a few different things and they didn't really land. I found the obvious fake outside pretty distracting - and treating the end as a reveal really didn't work for me.

What seems interesting is that combined with the title of the album there is a focus on what is performed and what is real. Which seems very, very different from Niall's usual vibe. We'll see if it goes anywhere.

Harry was out and about in West Hollywood (yes, the gay club district) last night showing off his short hair and friends, it looks beautiful. Absolutely stunning. Stop your crying, it's all all right. Dunno what he was up to but some gays got drunk Harry to take the tram with them; finally after all these years yes, that really was Harry on the bus in L.A. (Sort of: the cute free bar hopping trolley anyway, not the FULL public transport vibe but pretty sure that's as close as you're gonna get with this fancy ho.)

The guy from the festival in Madrid talked more about how he's been trying to book Louis for the last two years and says his old team made it difficult, which could honestly mean almost anything, and the Villa Mix festival released a teaser video for Liam's appearance.

Niall, amused at people trying to connect dots to find clues about NH2, said, "you guys are so funny! Nothing is happening for a while. You'll know when it's happening," well yes probably so. But we're so scarred by SOME PEOPLES' refusal to tell us anything ever that we forget how to trust, sorry Niall. Be gentle with us.

Also today in dot connecting, it looks like the rbbsbbofficial twitter may not just be a saved url, but perhaps a url saved by someone with a verified twitter account. Or maybe not, but since that's not a remotely surprising piece of news, I don't have any trouble believing it. I'd be a hell of a lot more surprised and suspicious if evidence suggesting otherwise surfaced tbh.

hello! sending lots and lots and lots of love! what do you think, or maybe dream, hs2, lt1, and nh2 are going to look or sound like? do you think there will be a sweet creature part 2? im super excited for them, but i have no idea what to expect, which i think is adding to the excitement

OH GOD IM,,,SO EXCITED FOR LITERALLY ALL OF THEM. i think nh2 is gonna be a very similar sound to flicker but more of the upbeat ones? like not as many like heartbreaking sad ones but im sure he’ll still break my heart a couple of times but like...more bops. 

hs2 i think a very 60s/70s rock vibe for both look and sound, and filled with disgustingly lovesick songs (cannot wait to be obliterated). and absOLUTELY a sequel to sweet creature. harry is gonna crush my heart and gOD i cant wait to hear it

lt1 i have, absolutely zero idea whatsoever. but i know i have a feeling it will nothing but honest, raw, and absolutely breathtaking. im so excited to hear it.

Okay I’m going to attempt to have a vaguely coherent reaction to this new Niall song/video.

1) The song itself I am just extremely impressed. The absolute swagger of this song, like my god. He’s crushing it. His vocals sound just incredible, when that first line kicked in on the initial listen I gasped and leaned way back in my chair because where did that come from. Like I loved Niall’s voice on everything in Flicker and before that, but it’s really nice to see how he continues progressing as an artist. The beat is fantastic, it’s so goddamn catchy and fun. I am in love with the bridge at the end, “One minute you’re there/the next one you’re gone...” etc? That very mid-2000s like, almost Muse vibe? I’m so fucking into it. Just everything about this song is so damn good. I’m just in love with it.

2) The video, okay I wasn’t 100% sure on the video at first, but the more I watch it, the more I like it. Again with the absolute cockiness he’s carrying himself with for this song. Shiiit. And I love all the little sneaky hints about the album, just fantastic.  And can we talk for a minute about how the start of the video, with the “she left her phone” thing...it 100% sets up for a sequel/continuation? And if you called the number on the cab with the Small Talk graphic and got that clip--like, that song sounds like it could be a good transition from this video. 

In conclusion I am even more hyped for NH2 than I was 24 hours ago which is quite a goddamn feat.

i don't wanna be the one who starts shit and makes things up but i do think wasted is a song from nh2 since unlike what most people think it kind of sounds different from flicker to me. plus, this is just a thought im NOT trying to assume shit, but i feel like it might be about H or at least inspired by the relationship they had. the lyrics... it's like they tried and can try again. doesn't sound like it's about the girl who inspired him to write flicker, i think

mmm idk, to me it sounds like its from flicker era (just the vibe, musicality of it), but it really honestly could be something he had written afterwards while on break from tour or on the road etc. we wont know unless he acknowledges it!

“Wait didn’t Niall said always wanted to play stadiums by himself?” Yes, but he also said that he chooses the places based on his music, he wanted small venues because he wanted the show to have a more personal vibe or something like that, he is now saying that he wants bigger palaces for NH2 our because the music he is doing is different. Tbh I had the same thought. The more I see, the less excited I am for NH2 and it pains me to say that. What's with all the writers? And I'm sorry, but I don't really find Shawn's stuff well-written so my heart is sinking to see Niall working with two of Shawn's co-writers. I want to trust Niall but I'm starting to get bad vibes here. I also really don't like the idea of him purposely going out with a ton of writers to write bops. I really want to believe in his vision but I'm just not sure.

Slow Hands had six (6) writers. At least 2-3 writers, if not more, per song on Flicker. I don’t think, nor do i understand, how the number of writers can be an issue because I think Niall’s vision is strong enough that what HE wants will always come first. Less writers DOES NOT mean more authentic songs. You might now like Shawn’s music, but Teddy and Scott have cowritten some INCREDIBLE, extremely success songs that we all listen to and love. They’ve not only worked with Shawn, so you can’t just take that body of work and use it as an example for everything. Also, I don’t think he IS purposely wanting to write bops. But if he is doing that, what’s wrong with it??? Niall has the experience he gained through Flicker and the world tour, and HE knows what he needs to do. We don’t get to dictate that as his fans. Can we PLEASE stop with judging a product that is not finished and we’ve seen/heard nothing of?? I think that’s totally unfair to judge based on the 0.32% that we’ve seen of the nh2 process. of course we all have our individual preferences, but we have got to wait and listen to it before deciding he’s not doing good.

I’ve been feeling all sorts of things since yesterday. Your blog seems like a safe place so here I am :) I wanna be positive about bf Niall but for some reason I don’t vibe with Hailee...? She’s cute and I’m sure she’s great, otherwise why would Niall take a chance on her if she wasn’t. I guess this is just me being a dumb fan whose feelings aren’t in the right order. What I am sure of is that I absolutely hate how their privacy has been seriously invaded.

First your feelings are valid and you feel them my friend. You are absolutely not a dumb fan for not vibing with her and this relationship! That’s perfectly normal, see me and some of his other people. We as fans don’t have to love everything he does, but we can still love him for just living his best life. I’m so sorry you feel this way though, it isn’t fun I’m sure, and I know how you feel. I’m just going to try and focus on his career and his tour and nh2 maybe starting at the end of the year!

Niall never said nh2 was done live?? I’ve listened to all his interviews

I never said it was either. lol I said it feels and sounds like a live album...with a bit of production. It just has that vibe. With the exception of the gate that Julian put on his vocals in Slow Hands and that funky filter on his voice on You and Me...his vocals are almost untouched. They sound exactly the same live. Exactly the same as on the RTE Orchestra live album. And they are all real instruments. No weird synths or embellishments really on the instrumentation. It leaves it feeling like a live album.

Fuck I misunderstood you. I thought you meant Flicker so....all of that is about Flicker. I don’t think he ever said NH2 was done live. I’m pretty far behind on interviews though so I can’t say for sure. I was just saying that what I heard sounds more produced than Flicker. That’s all. It’s literally been 4-5 months since I heard them...once...with the exception of NTMY and PALLOM....which I heard twice. But I 100% remember thinking at the time that they were more produced. I liked it.
