Could you maybe write some hurt/comfort with the Ninth Doctor where he gives the reader a hug? Thank you very much
I absolutely can! sorry if this is pretty short, I decided to make what he's comforting the reader over pretty vague on purpose (and also apologies if he's ooc as I haven't really written for him before)
Comforting Touch (Ninth Doctor x reader)
Warnings: hurt/comfort, some angst (reader cries but it's not said over what), soft Ninth Doctor
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Barely heard sobs filled the otherwise quiet room as you cried. Today was just not your day, it would seem.
Usually when you were this upset you would go see the Doctor for help, but the reasons why you were crying seemed so juveline and absurd, and you didn't want to bother him over something that didn't really matter.
It was almost as if your thoughts of insecurity had summoned him, because a few moments later you heard the sound of footsteps approaching.
You had your hands covering your face in a poor attempt to muffle your sounds of distress, but you were certain it was him. After all, who else could it be?
"Are you alright?" He asked in a gentle and quiet voice reserved only for you.
Shaking your head no, you opened your mouth in an effort to speak, so you could explain the problem, but all that came out was another broken sob.
The Doctor's face fell at the sound, and he immediately opened up his arms to you, bringing you in for a comforting hug. "Shh, shh. There, there. It's alright," he muttered in the most soothing tone he could muster, not wanting to upset you any further.
You pressed your face into his chest as you cried, tears streaming freely down your cheeks. The Doctor moved his hands down to your back as he held you, moving them along the tense muscles in slow and careful motions.
He didn't dare let go the entire time you were there for, wanting to make you feel as safe and loved as he possibly could. "It's okay, love. You're alright now."
Nodding your head at his words, you pulled away just enough so that you could look into his eyes. "Thank you," you whispered with gratitude, your tears having finally dried.
He smiled softly in response, giving you a caring look. "You're welcome, sweetheart."

Imagine telling the Doctor why you’re hesitant to take another trip…
We should do it again. What do you say to another trip?
You gave your reply and the Doctor frowned, quite honestly very puzzled to have heard the word from your mouth. “Did you say no?”
You nod back unsure of why you felt so shameful about it. You had nothing to be ashamed about. Your reply was based on fact.
“Why?” The Doctor questioned. “We had fun didn’t we? Met new people, ate lots of food.”
Taking a long sigh, you walked around the console, fingers gently tracing the oddly shaped glowing buttons.
“I just - I can’t.” You said and paused to look up at the Doctors face. “It’s not that I don’t love our trips or your company because I do. But I…”
“You what?”
“I’m scared.” You confessed and before the Doctor could begin listing a hundred of the scariest foes you both faced, you continued. “I’m scared of what happens to the people you travel with.”
The Doctors expression dropped. It was unreadable and you hated that it was you who had been the cause of it. Unfortunately, it was the truth and you promised the Doctor early on to never lie unless it was critical.
But right now as you stood before the Time Lord - you wished you had lied.
“Listen, I know it’s not your fault. But I’ve seen the history and it doesn’t lie. To venture with you is like a-” you stopped yourself from saying ‘death sentence’ and started again. “I love our adventures. I enjoy a few risks. But even you can’t guarantee that I’ll return home.”
The Doctor simply stared at you. There was no movement, it honestly had you questioning if the two hearts were even beating. After what felt like ten supernovas, the Doctor moved to the console and flicked at a few buttons and knobs until the TARDIS began to stir.
“Where would you like to be dropped off?”
At the question, you felt a lump in your throat. Swallowing it down, you provided your destination and watched as the Doctor mapped a course before leaving console and disappeared behind a large door.
As you felt your heart break, the TARDIS whined mechanically. Gently rubbing the console, you sighed. “I don’t want to go either. But I’ve been marked with a bio-tracker. Wherever I go, enemies will find us. If I don’t leave now, the Doctors life will be in imminent danger and that’s one risk I’m not willing to take.”

9th doctor x reader - I don’t get jealous
Tumblr media
He’d danced with Rose, thought she spent a lot of time convincing him to dance with her, and he only did it because Jack was going to dance with her.
And they seemed so happy dancing with one another, and you couldn’t help but feel a little jealousy rise up in you.
Sure, you weren’t dating him, but he had made it clear to him how you felt about him, and maybe that’s why things had been so quiet between the pair of you.
He never confirmed or denied how he felt about you.
Sitting on one of the upper platforms of the TARDIS you frowned a little as you looked at Rose and the doctor dancing.
“Come on, it’s a happy occasion, nobody died, you should be dancing as well.”
You looked up to see the captain walking over to you, and he sat next to you with a small grunt.
“Don’t feel like dancing.”
“I don’t suppose a charming smile and an open invitation to sweep you off your feet would change your mind would it?” He grinned.
You shook your head and rested it against the wall behind you.
Jack frowned and he turned a little bit to get a better look at you.
“I know I haven’t known you long, but I know heartache when I see it. Your pinning over one of them two, and bad.”
“Don’t go there…” you mumbled.
He raised his hands.
“Alright. But all I’m saying is one dance with me and I’ll have you swooning.”
“You’re just a big flirt aren’t you? Anything with a pulse and you flirt with it.”
“Ouch, okay. Not quite everything, I have standards.”
You laughed softly and smiled at him as you turned your head to look at him.
“Come on, I’m a real good dancer.” He grinned.
“Not happening.”
“I promise I’ll keep my hands to myself, no inappropriate behaviour.”
“No flirting?”
“I can’t promise that.” He beamed.
You laughed softly and he held out his hand, this time giving you a soft smile.
“Come on, just one dance is all. A distraction until we get to wherever we’re going.”
“We’re going back to London, I told the doctor I had to go home.”
“Well, a parting dance then, how’s that?”
Jack grinned at you and wiggled his fingers, trying to coax you into taking his hand, and you did.
You slowly reached up and took his hand, letting him carefully pull you up and lead you back to the lower part of the TARDIS and around the other-side of the console.
While dancing, you asked each other questions, deciding to use this time to get to know one another better.
“So you can’t dance.” Jack laughed.
You slapped his back, making him laugh even more.
“I never had the chance to dance with anyone you ass, why do you think I’m stood on your feet?”
“Because I’m very good looking obviously.”
You snorted a little bit.
“And you’ve got one fat ego.”
You grinned at him and he grinned back, shrugging a little bit.
“And I know my worth.”
“Yeah, nothing.”
“Oh alright then, I see how it is, I could just let you fall you know.”
“Yeah but you’re a gentleman you wouldn’t.”
He grinned a little bit and you heard someone clear their throat, and you both looked at the doctor and Rise before stepping away from one another.
“We’re back in your town, are you sure you want to go through?” The doctor asked.
You shrugged a little bit.
“Got things to do, sorry.”
You hugged Rose goodbye, and you looked at Jack, and he grinned, holding his arms out and you hugged him as well before moving to the door.
“Wait actually I want to come with you! Can I come with you?”
You shrugged a little bit.
“I could use the help with some stuff actually yeah. See you guys later!”
The doctor went to hold his arms out for a hug, but you had already gone out the door, and you walked down the street.
When you were sure you were away from the TARDIS you stopped and turned to your new friend, furrowing your brows a little bit.
“Why did you want to come?”
“Why did you accept?” He countered.
“I’ve got some stuff to do, and I can’t do it on my own. Your turn.”
“I’m helping you fix this messy love life of yours, I’m telling you right now spend enough time with me and he’ll get jealous.”
“I doubt that, but whatever you’re helping me for free so.”
“I get to spend time with a very good looking person, and housing for free cause you’re going to have to house me of course.”
You rolled your eyes at him and shook your head.
Sometimes you just clicked with someone, and you became fast friends, and that’s exactly what happened with you two.
He soon became your best friend, and he was your plutonic soulmate and you were sure if it.
He’d been staying with your for a few weeks, helping you do some renovations around your place, and now he was helping you decorate.
“Why did you choose blue?”
“Because I want my bathroom to be blue obviously.”
“Okay but why light blue.”
You shrugged a little bit.
“Cause.”
He rolled his eyes and flicked some paint as you as you walked into the room.
“Alright no need for that, I’ll kick you out.”
“You wouldn’t, you love me here, I can cook, I can clean, I’m the whole package deal you know.”
You laughed, rolling your eyes at him.
“Yeah, whatever you say, I’m going to finish the garden.”
“Wait give me like ten minutes.”
You nodded and walked further into the bathroom, sitting in the bath as you stared at the ceiling.
“You’re a strange one.” He laughed.
“Well I don’t want to sit on the floor.”
“Strange.”
There was a knock on your door, and you looked at him confused.
“Expecting guests?”
“No…”
He nodded and carried on painting and there was another knock on the door.
“You going to answer it?”
“Nope.”
“Alright then.” He chuckled.
The knocking ceased, and after a couple of minute you heard the door unlock and Jack was immediately in his feet.
He gestured for you to be quiet and you nodded, and he turned the bathroom light off, and walked over to the door.
“I know you’re in somewhere!”
You both sighed and he turned the light back on.
“You can’t just go breaking into people’s homes!” You called back.
Jack opened the door and put his weapon away and peaked his head out only to take a few steps back when the doctor appeared.
“You can’t just break in.”
He looked between you and the space captain and he frowned a little bit.
“Why are you sat in the bath?”
“I asked the same thing.” Jack said.
You just shrugged a little bit and got up, sitting in the edge instead.
“What’s up?” You asked.
He looked to Jack who raised his hands as looked at you.
“Going to leave for a few hours.”
He slipped away and the doctor gestured for you to come out of the bathroom so you did, and you followed him into the living room instead.
“Why have you been avoiding us?”
“We’ve been busy doctor, I’ve got to get all this done.”
“That’s not what I mean. I meant, you’re ignoring all of the calls and texts.”
You looked at him confused before you remembered.
“Oh sorry, Jack lost my phone and I had to get a new phone and SIM card, so new number. Here.”
He took your phone and set it aside.
“You’re spending a lot of time with him.”
“He’s helping me.”
“Hire someone.”
“Too expensive.”
The doctor narrowed his eyes a little bit.
“Ask someone else.”
“I don’t see why this is your concern.”
“Because he’s not the sort of person you should be seeing.”
You blinked and stared at the doctor quietly for a moment.
“I’m not seeing him.”
“Then why have you spend the last few weeks with him?”
“Because he’s helping me do all this, no one else can. I don’t see why you’re so bothered.” You snapped.
Getting up, you stormed away and outside to start figuring out what you needed to do out there and the doctor followed you.
“Dance with me.” He said.
“I thought the world imploded if you danced.” You scoffed.
He let out a deep breath, and he walked in front of you, holding outer his hand.
“Dance with me.” He said again.
“No.”
“Just give me your hand stop being so stubborn already.”
He wiggled his fingers and you looked at his hand, then at him, and he flashed you a little grin.
“Come on.”
“I’m busy.”
“No you’re not, you were sat in the bath.”
“No.”
He sighed and let his hand fall.
“This is because I didn’t answer you isn’t it?”
You stayed quiet.
“I didn’t mean to push you away (Y/N), I just… I got confused, and I didn’t know what to do.”
“Well you made it perfectly clear don’t you worry.”
“Bloody hell (Y/N)…”
The doctor walked over and planted his hands on the sides of your face.
“I’m trying to tell you I should have told you I love you.”
“You’re just mad I’m spending more time with the biggest flirt in the universe.”
“I don’t get jealous, and I’m saying it because it’s true.”
He smiled softly down at you, and leant down, pressing his forehead against yours.
“I didn’t say anything.. then as time went on I didn’t know how..”
You closed your eyes and sighed softly.
“Don’t lie to me…”
The doctor leant forward, brushing his lips against yours.
“I would never lie to you…”
You smiled a little bit, placing your hands on his arms.
“You’re jealous…”
“I’m not…”
“Yea you are.”
He huffed a little bit, and he took a step back, taking his jacket off he placed it over your shoulders and then crossed his arms.
“I don’t get jealous.”
“Then what’s this about?”
“It’s cold.”
“It’s summer, you’re trying to prove a point to Jack.”
“I am not.”
You laughed a little, slipping your arms through the sleeves and you looked up at him.
“Yes you are, the doctor is jealous.”
“You were jealous too!” He huffed.
You slapped his arm and he grinned a little bit at you.
“So can you send him away now?”
“Nope, he still has to help me.”
“Then I’m helping too, I’m not leaving you unattended anymore.”
You rolled your eyes and walked over to the wall, and you stood in front of it, taking some notes in your head, very aware of the doctor right behind you, very away of his arms on your shoulders.
The doctor was jealous, and now he wasn’t letting you out of his sight because he was jealous and he wanted you and everybody else to know it

Falling feels like flying (till the bone crush)
Pairing: Eleventh Doctor x Reader, Tenth Doctor x Reader, Ninth Doctor x Reader
Word Count: 2, 243
Warnings: All angst, no happy ending
Summary: Reader is faced with a gross realisation. What everyone has been saying about her is true, she's a flight risk. Now it's up to her to show the Doctor that.
A/N: This entire thing literally only exists because I read Flight Risk by @storytelling-timelord so from one Elle to another, thank you for giving me the jump start I need to get to writing again!! For everyone else, I super recommend reading her stuff!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
On a day that wasn’t then, but long before today, you would wonder why Jack Harkness would call you this. Why, saddled up in the console room, giving the Doctor a private, sad smile, he would map the words onto your skin, a brand of hot iron at the base of your neck.
“She’s a flight risk,” he would say. He would warn.
And the Doctor would scoff, his Northern drawl spilling from him with ease, with the confidence of a man who was used to being right, of reading people right.
He would say that’s absurd, that you were human, too human. The kind of human who would look just as quickly at a lone daffodil in a field, or a new-born nebula, and see nothing but the beauty in the matter that formed it, of the star dust that danced around you in every bated breath.
No, he would say. You ran because you ran with the Doctor. You wouldn’t run without him.
And Jack would move to reply, his eyes far more honest that the rueful grin he forced his features into, but you would skip into the console room, curious, but unspoken. It had been some time since you established this little tradition with the Doctor, a dance just shy of moving in.
Every month – maybe, time was never accurate on the TARDIS – you would gather more of your belonging, tucking them into the space that made up your room.
And the Doctor would grin, look at you with an expression you wouldn’t be able to name, but would later learn, and ask if you were ready to go.
And Jack would grin, eyes dark though smile bright, pat the Doctor on the shoulder and ask for his own pit stop.
Today however, you roamed the TARDIS’ ever sprawling library, greeting each hard bound book, each fraying paperback, like an old friend.
And there, in golden letters, printed in the grain of an old bookshelf sagging under its own weight, was what you had never thought to be afraid of. Your name.
Your fingers ghosted over the imprint, trailing every stroke, every curve.
Your body went cold.
You knew these halls, floated through them like ink flows on paper, yet you had never seen this. Did you dare ask how long it had been there? Breathe your knowledge of this into the air? What would the Doctor say? Would he tell you he had been the one to do this? Would he see how terrified it made you feel?
Your free hand went to the back of your head, fingers trailing over the fine hair from where your skull met your neck. Your hand stopped as it met the base of your neck. In an instant you gripped tight.
Flight risk.
--
In the beginning, you found falling felt rather like flying. The Doctor didn’t steal your breath, he would snake into your lungs with an easy grin and bright laughter, and you found yourself giving it to him.
You hadn’t known yet, how easily Sarah-Jane Smith saw things. You didn’t yet know about the knowing. How important knowing was when it came to love.
But she knew, you think now she always had.
You only knew four things at that point, which you had thought was enough. First, you loved the Doctor. Second, he loved you. Third, loving one another was hard – harder than anything you had ever done.
Fourth, it was worth it.
But Sarah-Jane Smith had gripped onto the Doctor's arm, eyes wide and afraid as she spoke to him. She was speaking from experience, recognising him in you. Recognising why he loved you.
“She’s a flight risk,” she would say. She would implore.
And the Doctor would laugh, a full body movement that would sweep into his coat. He would say that you were fast, that lighting crackled beneath you, and he was the thunder – hand gripped tight in yours. That flight was fine because he was flying with you.
And you wouldn’t intrude on the way their conversation would unfold. You would turn off the monitor in the console room, toying with the idea of flight.
Because the Doctor was right, wasn’t he? You were already flying, where was the risk if the flying was for him?
Today however, you stumbled into the hallway, tripping over the slippers you had left at the foot of the library door. Your hand grazed the nearest wall, fingers mapping the grooves and nubs that you had tracked thousands of times.
Thousands? Had you really been here long enough for thousands?
You twisted down the hallway, finding your bedroom. You pawed for the light switch, a thin smear of dust pressing into your fingertips. Under the soft light, it barely looked familiar.
Trinkets you had long forgotten about sat on makeshift shelves, detailing adventures you would so often bring up in soft jokes and old laughter. An old journal sat on a desk, framed by photographs and pressings from flowers and leaves of various planets, untouched. Even your bed was locked in time, the sheets firmly tucked in all corners – unslept and well kept.
It had been so long since this had been your room, the room you spent your time in, the room you slept in. The evidence was clear as day. This room, which had once been yours, inviting and warm, was foreign. You were a stranger in your own space.
Had you lost yourself?
Flight risk.
--
Three faces you had known him. Three lifetimes of learning – of cataloguing and developing your very best knowing. Because it was the knowing that was key to any good relationship.
Like the knowing in how the Doctor took his tea, always with a dash of milk, always two sugars.
And in the knowing of how the Doctor looked at the stars, with the sort of wonder you had thought unparalleled, until he looked at you.
Or in the way his eyes crinkled when he smiled – always.
It never was a matter that the face had changed, that the eyes were new, and the slope of his jaw would bend into each new shape. The Doctor, you had come to find, was familiar, the extraordinary bottled into skin and bones with two hearts.
River Song was next, with a curious expression you have yet to unravel. She would take the Doctor’s hand, draw his eyes into her own, her voice low when she spoke. She would tell him how he was playing with fire, how – for once – he was the one who was about to get burned.
“She’s a flight risk,” she would say. She would mourn.
And the Doctor would shake his head, because River had seen, same as him, how cemented you were by his side. He would tell of her of the obstacles you had overcome, of the fears you had faced within each other, of the fate defying feats you had both pulled to keep one another in your orbit.
Then Amy – or maybe it was Rory, would call out to you, and their conversation would be lost behind you as you planned for the next adventure.
But the comment would linger, eat away through the goosebumps that would rise when Rivers gaze turned to you.
And it was then that you would wonder about Jack's first comment. It was arrogant, foolish. What did any of them know?
But the Doctors gaze would follow, it would wrap against your throat and claw into your skin.
But as always, you kept your thoughts onto the next adventure.
Today however, you gripped a photograph left on the desk. It was you, grinning into the camera, Martha Jones on one side, the Doctor on the other. You were young, your smile brighter, your eyes wider.
Your hand found itself on your cheek. Your fingers paved over your skin, over the new lines that had formed around your eyes, the creases in your cheeks, the weariness in their colour.
You were older now. So much older.
How many years had gone by? Would you ever be able to count them?
The photo fluttered out of your grasp. There was only one choice.
Flight Risk.
--
Permanency wasn’t a luxury you afforded yourself. Love was hard, and the knowing was harder. You loved knowing people, loved recognising the things that made them smile, made them laugh.
But the knowing in turn was ruthless.
The Doctor was changing, it was a knowledge that wrung itself in your chest, twisting into your veins and clotting itself into your arteries. If you had been self-aware, you would have seen the change you brought with it, how you drew yourself in, built around you more walls before the Doctor could find a jackhammer to carve them through.
You wondered if loving the Doctor truly was good – if the flying was true. How long until the flight was the Doctor leaving, once he saw too much of you?
Madame Kovarian would give you a lazy grin, the eye not hidden by the eye-patch toying with the way she looked at you and the Doctor. It was slow, languid, revelling in all the time she had to unravel you.
It only took her a moment, a cat like pause before her grin would stretch and twist into something wicked.
“She’s a flight risk,” she would say. She would applaud.
The Doctor would waver – he had never done that before. His voice would shake before falling firm. He wouldn’t mention you, he would talk of her, of the tricks she would pull, of the grip she held on to the universe.
And you would tell yourself that was enough, and you would forget it, hyperfocus on the need to fix this, on the need to win. This is what you did with the Doctor, fall into step, a routine so focused your body and his weren’t their own.
Today however, you fumbled for the vortex manipulator you knew was hidden here. You weren’t sure who the one who hid it was. Maybe it was Jack. Maybe it was River. In the end, it didn’t matter.
Your fingers curled around the worn strap, hidden deep in the console. For a moment you marvelled at the memory of the others, of the people who had left their own mark on the TARDIS.
The thought soon soured.
Because how could you think of a mark in the TARDIS, without thinking of yourself. You could see the evidence of you in this very console room. Your jumped hung over the railing. The book you were currently reading sat by the controls. An old mug, paired with the Doctors, sat by the staircase.
It sprawled out in front of you.
You. You.
You.
You tried to place the change, the moment where the you in your bedroom had spilled into the TARDIS. The moment your space was the Doctors.
You were everywhere.
There you were, your sunscreen stuck by the TARDIS front door. You were in the kitchen, tins of your favourite teas lining the shelf by the kettle. Your footsteps marked the hallways, old shoes you had kicked off before reaching your next stop, the scuff from old boots.
Your breath came in shaky, knotting in your throat.
Flight Risk.
--
The Doctor would rip the last page out of every book, all to avoid the ending. It was a quirk of his you knew well – you knew all his quirks well.
And although you knew it, you didn’t understand it.
Leaving was an inevitability for you and him. An end for all endings, even this. There was no permanency here. No proof that things would last, that he would stay. That you would stay.
There couldn’t be. Time was fickle, time was fleeting, and it was flying. Just like you were flying – you were sure of it.
Falling rather felt like flying. Until the fall was less flying, and more bone crashing into cement.
You couldn’t see the Doctor before you left, you had half the heart that he did, and that wasn’t accounting for the physical accuracy of the statement.
It was a rash decision, the logical part of you, the part screaming for you to slow down, knew it was rash. But wasn’t rash what you were known for?
Rash was jumping into a time machine with a man you just met. Rash was dancing with the stars, chasing time figures in the night. Rash was the running, all the running.
So, this time it was you. It wasn’t River, Jack, it wasn’t even the Doctor. It was simply you.
You scrawled a note, leaving it against the final lever on the console, the one the Doctor would throw before his next adventure. Alone.
I’m a flight risk, you had said.
You were gone.
--
If you had stayed, you would have seen it. You would have seen the way the Doctor stood – silent, alone – the note gripped in the palm of his hand.
The Doctor shattered.
His body splayed the TARDIS floor like ceramic before the mosaic, hauntingly tragic, ripped into the seam of the canvas.
By his side lay the ring, the reason he had left the TARDIS at all. It clattered against the railing; louder than the question he could now never ask you.
And it was the Doctor who now knew, who had learned. That the flying, that the falling? Was bone crushingly broken.
A/N^2: I really loved playing with prose while writing this, seriously, it was so fun. Thank you so much for reading! For the regulars, I've got a lot of unfinished wips that should I get the motivation are almost done, so hopefully I'll get to posting again more regularly!
EDIT: I'm writing a happy ending sequel! Lemme know if you'd like to be tagged when it comes out!

People saying Nine and Donna would hate each other, and honestly? Probably not. They'd team up against Ten and absolutely destroy him
He'd be bamboozled

OKAY HOW ABOUT a reader who has to get used to Ten being so affectionate and loving whereas Nine was more reserved and withdrawn. Y/n isn't sure she/they can be with Ten after he regenerates because he's so different, but Ten proves to her that he still loves her the same as he did before and what not; then she gets to see how lovey dovey he has become!
I love Nine very much but I'm so starved for affection and what not. I think it could be so cute! You're the best!
Affection - 10th Doctor Headcanons
I think headcanons would work best for me with this request, so I hope that's fine!
Also... I LOVE YOU AND YOUR REQUESTS!!!!
God I hope this is at least decent, been so busy lately so this was a lil rushed lol
WARNING: fluff, angst
Tumblr media
(I was gonna say ignore the caption, but fuck that, the caption doesn't lie!😂)
Your relationship with 9 was a lot less touchy feely, sure he had his moments, but the majority of the time he only did small gestures that reminded you that he loved you a lot, even though he was a bit withdrawn from affection.
You knew that he loved you a lot, even though he wasn't exactly the most affectionate alien out there, there were small things he did that reassured you of his love.
Like how jealous he would get whenever someone like Jack was around.
Or him remembering the small details about you to remember in the future, like favourite food places and things like that!
That was before, though.
Now it's 10, and this one is a WHOLE LOT more affectionate than 9 was!
10 is the type of person who has to be constantly touching you just so he knows you're with him and you are safe.
I think 10 would be a lot more protective of you than 9 would be.
Like if something bad is happening and there are aliens that wanna kill you, HOO THAT BOI IS GONNA BEAT THEIR ASSES BEFORE THEY CAN TOUCH YOU!!
Especially touchy after a dangerous adventure.
After a dangerous adventure where you probably could have died, he always takes a travel break just to remind himself that you're here with him.
He absolutely loves cuddles too!
Whenever he gets a chance, he is on top of you, his face pressed against your chest with his arms secured tightly around you, he ain't gonna let go any time soon.
I think your doubts of the Doctors love would be eradicated when he gets protective or when he takes you to your favourite restaurant that you mentioned YEARS ago.
He's still the same Doctor who remembers the small details about you.
The same Doctor that would protect you from all the bad things.
The same Doctor that gets jealous every time Jack comes around and starts his flirting.

- most of the time it’s very lighthearted jabs at your height
- always waits a few seconds before helping you reach something because he thinks it’s funny and also very sweet but he won't dare admit that
- as much as he convinces himself and everyone he encounters that your height is solely something he finds hilarious on occasion, he can't help feeling a little more protective of you, like your smaller form makes you more likely to break
- very much still recovering from the Time War, he’s prone to overthinking disaster scenarios, especially when it comes to you
“Stay behind me. These creatures can't be trusted at the best of times.”
- but you always find a way to spin it into something more lighthearted, to ease his mind
“I’m a smaller target than you, so I like my chances! Perhaps it’s you that should stay behind me?”
Tumblr media
- won't make fun unless he knows for a fact you’re comfortable with it
- as soon as he finds out you are, he makes jokes only in a very lighthearted way
- also comes up with cute nicknames to use when you’ve done something that’s impressed him, like saved a civilization or two while he was busy being broody and hot or something
“Oh, you little star!”
- generally speaking, he doesnt really care about your height, but he does find it endearing
- he’ll never see it as a point of weakness
- if he ever finds you struggling to reach something or down in the dumps about clothes not fitting you right because of your smaller proportions, he’s always right there to lift your chin back up and remind you of the wonderful person you are, that your stature holds no sway over how brilliant you are, especially not to him
“Some of the most mighty species in all the galaxies are the smallest ones you’ll find, some don't even have physical bodies big enough to detect with the human eye! Each and every one is perfectly unique in their own way, and you are no different. The stars you’ve seen in the night skies all your life, are they any less magical for appearing so small?”
“No…”
“Exactly! And, you know, the more humans I meet, the more I realize how similar you are to Time Lords.”
“In what way?”
- and then he’s grinning down at you, all giddy about getting to use the line he loves hearing more than any other
“You’re all so much bigger on the inside.”
Tumblr media
- will make a joke about your height to test the water
- if your reaction tells him you’re not okay with it, he’ll feel guilty for the rest of eternity and never do it again
- but if you laugh with him or roll your eyes with a smile, he’ll grin like he’s accomplished something great, cracked some impossible code, and he will wear that like a badge of honor
- regardless of the fact you’ve made it clear he is allowed to make fun of your height, if anyone else does it in front of him, he doesn't like it
“Well, surely the smallest one should be sent in first, their loss would be the least noticeable!”
- and the Doctor is straight up, clapping his hands together and pointing in all directions as he lays out the plan of action very clearly to all involved, ending it by pointing at the man who dared make fun of you
“Now, you. From what I gather, jokes are supposed to be funny- supposed to land laughs with the nearest crowd; clearly you missed that memo, but that’s fine. Depending on (Y/N)’s reaction to your poor excuse for a joke, I’ve got a snowglobe with a blackhole suspended within it that I think you’d fit just perfectly in. (Y/N)?”
- the man looks terrified, and you try your best to refrain from laughing at him as you raise an eyebrow in dramatic silence
“Jury’s still out, see if he survives this first.”
the Doctor claps his hands again. “Cool! I’m never saying that again, but it would be very uncool of me to have to trap you inside a snowglobe that would tear you atom from atom in a continuous, brutal cycle, so consider that a warning.”
Tumblr media
- takes the ABSOLUTE piss, don't ever think he won't
- will 110% pretend he can't see you and stare right over your head
- will 1000% make up short-based nicknames all the time
“Hello there, Short Round.”
“Really showing your age with that one.”
“Oh, what was that? A tiny and insignificant mouse, or perhaps it was the wind, arguing with me?”
- you’d think in all his whimsical, magical, time-travelling glory with his constant bustling about and his mind going a mile a minute in the most erratic fashion possible, he wouldn't notice your height, let alone find the time to make a joke in literally any setting, but oh boy, does he
“Is everyone clear on their roles in my carefully laid out plan, because I know that the accent can be difficult, but if I have to explain it again I think I’d rather do everything myself and you can all sit here with (Y/N) and applaud me when I get back.”
“Wait, sit here with me? Why aren't I coming with you?!”
“Because you’re-”
- he gestures to you with his hands, up and down, like it’s the most obvious thing in the world, and you’re sighing because you already know what he’s referring to
“What does my height have to do with anything?!”
“You’re all compact, like a foldable deckchair or one of those raincoats that turns into a conveniently sized pouch. It’s frankly distracting and my pockets are full so you cant sit in any of them.”
- he never laughs at his own jokes but sometimes he makes you WHEEZE with the inventive short jokes he comes up with
- similarly to Nine, though, he also can't help viewing you as more breakable, not only because you’re a human, but a very short one, too
- despite him completely understanding the biology of humans, he is convinced that a papercut on you is the same as an average-sized person getting stabbed
- so yes, he takes the piss at absolutely every chance he gets, but if he sees someone else trip you up by accident or hand you a piece of paper and it cuts your finger in the most barely noticeable way, he will be a GRUMP
- consider the paper in your hands stolen, read very passive aggressively, then scrunched up into a ball, possibly chewed or ripped apart or even thrown on the floor and stamped on
- consider the person who accidentally hurt you the subject of his rage until they are out of his sight. every time they speak, they’re met with a “Shut it!”
- and you’re like “Doctor, there’s really no need-”
“That IMBECILE tripped you up approximately 3 AND A HALF HOURS AGO, and you think I’m overreacting? You could have DIED!”
- such a drama queen

Okay but imagine a yandere Master/Missy (or even a yandere Doctor). Imagine them defying all laws of time and space to be with their "one true love", someone who doesn't even know they exist
Imagine how terrifying it would be to find out that not only has this person been obsessed with you and has stalking you for months, but they're a literal Timelord. So that means no matter where you go, or what you do, or how far you try to run, they will always find you in the end. Even if you die or escape, they will without a doubt somehow manage to bring you back, just because they love you so much
Bonus points if this crosses over into regenerations, meaning even if you do manage to get away from them there really is nobody who you can trust, because you never know when they're going to come back with a new form

So, I'm gonna do what like fifth billion people have already done and describe each Doctor in my own shitty words:
Grandpa becomes a better person via kidnapping the right people
Funny little man fights monsters with his Jacobite boyfriend until he's executed for time crimes
Dandy makes the most of his prison time by being James Bond and annoying the military
Big man with big teeth big voice big scarf DO NOT FUCK WITH THIS MAN wants to know if you'd like a jelly baby while he saves your ass
Cricket nerd isn't sure whether these people are his friends or his kids but goddamn does he try
"No more Doctor Nice Guy", said the Doctor while actually being quite nice, all things considered.
Like if an evil mastermind was a good guy who adopted a badass child
Just a kicked puppy of a man, regularly gets amnesia and there's basically two of him
Sassy PTSD man
Alien man tries really hard to human, loses all his friends tragically, cries in the rain, and then develops a god complex, as one does
Just a little baby boy...Oh wait he's an angry god oh shit
Old professor who laments about kids these days, used to be in a band, and says "fuck capitalism"
Disaster woman just can't communicate with those undyingly loyal to her. Will primarily be remembered as for her lesbianism.
His episodes haven't aired yet how would I know?
His episodes also haven't aired yet am I supposed to just guess?

9th doctor x reader - oblivious, stupid, and in love
Tumblr media
Travelling with the doctor was fun at first, you loved it.
Who wouldn’t?
The planets, being in the stars, seeing the past, the future, what was really just outside the grasp of humanity in the present time you were in.
You loved every single moment of it.
But even something as amazing as that would get tiring after a while, and as much as you enjoyed travelling with the doctor and Rose, you felt like you didn’t have as good as connection with the doctor unlike Rose.
Their timelines were intertwined with one another, and it began to feel like you were there just for the ride.
Rose didn’t do anything with anyone anymore, not like she used to you, even with you right with her, and the doctor seemed to only think of what Rose would want to see.
And you wondered if this is how Mickey was feeling, so, you decided while the Rose and the doctor were off gallivanting somewhere you’d ask him.
So you went to his flat and knocked on his door.
“Don’t usually get you around here.”
He stepped aside to let you in.
“Tea?”
“Yeah please, I actually wanted to talk to you.”
“About what?”
You followed your friend through to the kitchen and leant in the doorway as you sighed a little bit.
“Rose and the doctor.”
Mickey glanced at you and nodded his head, gesturing for you to wait as he made your drinks and took you to the living room.
“Thought you liked travelling with them and all that lot.” He said.
“I do, well… I did… it’s just…”
You sighed and you tried your best to explain everything to him, and he nodded along and waited for you to finished.
“She’s been doing the same to everyone including me and Jackie, at the end of the day I guess we should just leave her to it, she ain’t going to listen to us anyways.”
“Yeah… I guess you’re right.”
“That’s not the whole thing?”
You shook your head and looked at him as you laid down on the sofa, staring up at the ceiling.
“I just don’t get why she gets to have everything you know? She had a good relationship, brilliant mum, and she threw it all away, now she gets to go running off round the universe and all that.”
“Come on, you got one hell of a good job here, and you don’t need a relationship just to be happy.”
“Mickey I literally work in construction because my best friends dad runs the company and I need the work.”
“Yeah but come on, you love it really, I seen you climbing those wooden structures sometimes.”
You grinned a little and nodded your head.
“Yeah it’s fun.”
“You get real good money, and you live on your own, what more could you want?”
“To actually be able to do what Rose does…” you grumbled.
“Oh I get it your jealous.”
“So are you.”
“I’m not jealous she’s running off with the doctor though.”
You looked at your friend and smirked a little bit.
“Nah you’re just jealous you ain’t him.”
Mickey tossed a cushion at you and you laughed as it hit you in the face.
“You’re seriously jealous she spends time with the doctor?”
“You can’t tell me you’re not.”
“Not for the same reason, I want to actually spend time with my girlfriend, so why are you jealous?”
You huffed and laid with the cushion on your face as you said nothing.
“Oh my god…”
You quickly sat up.
“Don’t say it.”
“Seriously?”
“Okay I’m going now by Mickey!”
You quickly got up and left his flat, settling for wondering a little bit to clear your head.
Your phone went off and you looked at the photo Rose had sent you from somewhere in the universe and you decided to ignore it.
And that’s what you began to do instead.
You started ignoring her, all her texts and calls, throwing yourself into your work and the life you wanted on Earth instead.
And it was good for the most part.
Sitting in the scaffolding, you felt your phone go off as you pulled it out your pocket to read the text.
Rose: can we talk?
“You shouldn’t be on your phone.”
You slapped your friends leg and looked at him as you put your phone away.
“Shut it Luke, you’ve been sat there for an hour on call to your mate.”
He grinned a little bit and you both looked at the slightly cloudy sky.
“Think it’s gonna rain?” He asked.
“You wish, I got money to earn so you stay there and act like the princess you are.”
He stuck his middle finger up at you and you smirked as you got up and made your way onto the Newley built floor of the building you were working on.
“Shouldn’t you be an office worker or something?” He called.
“Shouldn’t you be in the sewers you rat?” You called back.
“Ouch, damn okay.”
He got up and trialed after you, taking the tape measure from your hands and you pulled another one out from your pocket.
“Stole yours hours ago.”
“Was looking for that.”
You shrugged a little and carried on with your work, measuring and marking what had to be done next.
It took a few hours to do, and then you made your way back outside and saw your friends dad waving you down, as you began your descent back to the bottom.
Jumping on the ground, you walked over and he took you to one of the cars and handed you some papers.
“Tell me idiot son if we ever want to finish this office building he actually needs to take the papers with him.”
You snickered a little bit and picked them up.
“He’s never going to remember Henry, you know that, it’s why you hired me.”
“I know, at least one of yous is smart.”
You grinned a little bit and leant back on the car as you looked through them.
“Thought it was an open plan style office? They said they was bringing in everything else.”
“Yeah they changed their minds, now they want office rooms and all that crap. We get paid more for the changes so more profit for you.”
You shrugged a little bit and picked up your bag, putting the papers in it as you set it on the ground again.
“How much longer you reckon?” Henry asked.
“Well, we still need to run the electrics through the top floor, then windows finished, if we’re adding all of this as well, given they stick to just a few offices on each floor with glass instead of normal walls, I’d say another month or so.”
“Not bad, I told them about two months given the weather.”
You smiled a little and looked up at him.
“Am learning.”
Henry nodded his head in agreement, and pointed to the entrance to the site.
“And being watched. You know him?”
You looked to where he was pointing and you sighed.
“Yeah, don’t want to talk to him though whatever documentation he shows you it’s fake.”
With that, you grabbed your bag and you went to go find Luke again to discuss the new changes and to see if they were actually possible or not.
You carried on working throughout the rest of the day, and you forgot about the man outside until you went to walked over to your car parked down the street.
“We can get him gone you know.” Luke whispered.
“Leave it, he ain’t worth it.”
You made your way over and turned down the street to make your way to your car.
“You told them my papers were fake.”
“They are fake, I know they’re fake doctor.”
“They didn’t need to know that. I just wanted a look around.”
You stopped and looked at him.
“Right, I get everything is all fun and games to you yeah, but that’s a construction site, so I don’t need you in there messing about with ought. We’ve been working on it for months and we don’t need you putting us behind.” You snapped.
The doctor blinked and looked at you in shock.
You carried on walking, and he called out your name but you ignored him.
“Hey stop for a minute!” He called.
He jogged in front of you and blocked your path and you sighed.
“Are you alright?”
“In case you can’t tell doctor, I’m covered in dust and dirt, I want to go home, so leave me be. Go find Rose or something if you want to travel.”
You pushed past him and the doctor watched you get in your car with a frown.
He waited every day at the site for you to try talk to you, and you eventually started parking on site just to avoid him even more.
And you thought it was working, because you stopped seeing him there for a week, and you heard from Mickey Rose was still in London.
So maybe the doctor was sulking, you weren’t sure.
As you were sitting in the park on the weekend, just relaxing from a long week, you saw him walking over the grass and you sighed heavily.
“What now? I’m trying to sit peacefully.”
The doctor stood in front of you and stared at you for a minute.
“I don’t understand why you’re acting like this.”
“Look, I’m tired okay. Tired and want to relax so go do something else.”
You got up and before you could walk away he took your hand and made you stop.
“Did I upset or offend you somehow?” He asked confused.
“I just want to be left alone.” You snapped at him.
He shook his head.
“Not until we sort this out, one minute you were fine and smiling when I dropped you off, now I can hardly get two minute to even talk to you, you’re ignoring Rose and not talking to her either.”
You heard your phone chime and you looked at him raising a brow, but he still held your hand.
You pulled your hand and he let it go.
Taking your phone out your pocket you read the message and you groaned as you stuffed your phone away.
You left the park and went to your flat and got in your car, heading over ti the construction site to see Luke grinned sheepishly.
“I think I fucked up.”
“Oh you did big time, what the hell did you do?”
After helping him fix the mess he had made while ordering supplies for the following week, you went back home and you stopped as you stared into your living room.
The doctor was there watching TV, sprawled out on your sofa.
“Seriously?”
“I’m not going until we talk this out. I’ll stay here all night if I have to.” He beamed.
You ignored him and went into the kitchen and you grabbed a drink out the fridge as you opened it and began to looked through some takeaway menus.
Picking one, you walked into the living room and wrote down what you wanted and you tossed it at him with the notepad and pen.
You spent as much time as you could ignoring him.
“I will really just stay here all night you know, I’ve nowhere else to be.”
“I don’t know what you want me to say doctor, I’ve been working, I’ve been busy.”
“It’s not that, I know you. I know there’s more to it then that.”
The doctor sat up and he looked at you.
“So just tell me, I don’t understand what’s so bad you can’t tell me about it, or at least tell Rose. You two are supposed to be friends, right?”
You shrugged a little bit.
“What’s going on? Just tell me, I’m sure it can’t be that bad.”
“I’m going to bed, leave, stay, I don’t care.”
With that you left him there and he frowned as he tried to figure out what was going on.
And that’s what he spent all night doing, and when you woke up he wasn’t there, but a few hours later he came waltzing through your front door, screwdriver in his hand.
You were getting ready to go to the shop, so you stood and you looked at him.
“I talked to Rickey.”
“Mickey.”
“Same person, I talked to him.”
“Okay?”
The doctor closed your front door and he pointed the screwdriver at you.
“He said you’re jealous.”
“Did you talk to him or scare him into talking?”
“Not relevant. Is this what all this is about?”
“It doesn’t matter doctor, can you move because I need to go to the shop.”
“Nope, we’re going clear up whatever this is right now. Why are you jealous?”
“I’m not and it doesn’t matter.”
The doctor narrowed his eyes a little bit and he sighed softly.
“I want you to come somewhere with me.”
“Doctor I can’t, I have worked, commitments. I get you can run around whatever you want, so can Rose. But I can’t.”
“Just come with me.”
“I can’t.”
He sighed and he put the screwdriver in his pocket.
“You were having so much fun, travelling, seeing the universe, doing things that humans won’t do until well into your future. Then you just decide one day that you’re not going to come with us anymore? I know there is something else, something that is making you feel like you can’t come with us anymore, and it’s not work, because you said it yourself, this is a job you can come and go as you please.”
“What’s the point doctor? I go with you and Rose, I see things, but am I really there?” You asked.
He looked at you confused.
“You and Rose understand each other on a level I could never possibly reach, you two just seem to share the same wavelength and I can’t do that. What’s the point of me being there, I can’t help you like she can, I’m nothing but a second thought really, just a remembrance that I’m there. That I happen to be there. Is that what you want to hear?” You asked.
You took your jacket off and you tossed it on to the cabinet in front of the doctor.
“Do you want me to tell you how I feel like an after thought? Maybe some people have what it takes to be a time traveller, I’m not one of them. Why waste my time?”
“You loved it.”
“At the start yeah sure it was great. But I’d rather just work, get some money behind me, maybe travel the world in a few years or something, at least here, at work, I know I’m important. I know who I am.”
“(Y/N) you are important, my god you are so important.” The doctor said.
You scoffed and shook your head.
“Not out there I’m not, I’m just another little human running around where they shouldn’t be.”
The doctor looked sad, and a little unsure.
“I… I made you feel like this?” He asked.
“You’re not to blame fully, you’ve known Rose longer, get it. You two are better off travelling just the two of you, I’m better here building things, that’s all there is to it. I don’t have to compete, or worry, or nothing like that.”
“Who says you have to compete? Compete for what?”
You shook your head and you picked your jacket up again, pulling it on and you gestured for him to move.
“Just forget yeah? I’m fine here.”
“But are you happy?”
“I’m content.”
“That’s not the same as happy.”
You shrugged a little bit and took a step backwards again.
“It’s all we can ask for though right? Just to be content. Now can you move?”
He opened the door and followed you outside.
“So if you’re only content here, what would make you happy?”
“Honestly I just want what Rose has, I want what she has with Mickey, even if she’s screwing it all up and constitutionally leaving him behind, there was a time they were well happy.”
The doctor walked in front of you to make you stop walking.
“Why can’t you have what she has? Earth isn’t short of people.”
You smiled a little and shook your head.
“It don’t work like that doctor, you need to have feelings for someone, or love them. You know how relationships work right?”
“I have an idea yes.”
“Exactly.”
He furrowed his brows a little bit.
“Then why can’t you have that?”
“Because the man I love is either incredibly stupid, oblivious, or in love with someone else, I’m not sure.”
You stepped around him and carried on working.
“Then why don’t you just ask him?”
“Because I don’t know if my friend likes him, and if she does I don’t want to get in the way, I wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“Well, whatever man doesn’t choose you is pretty stupid if you ask me.” The doctor smiled.
You laughed a little and stopped walking again.
“You can’t say that.”
“Well why not? It’s true, you’re a wonderful human, absolutely fantastic!”
“That ain’t true.”
“Why? Why do you believe so much that you cannot have such a brilliant thing?” He asked.
You sighed and you ran a hand down your face.
“Wow, you really are just oblivious aren’t you? I just can’t okay, I can’t tell the guy, and I can’t ask my friend how she feels, and I need to go because the shops going to close, so bye.”
With that you walked away and the doctor stood there confused.
When he tried to follow you he realised he no idea which direction you went in, so he wondered back to the TARDIS to think.
He decided to do some small fixes, but he was still vexed by his conversation with you.
Suddenly he stopped, and he blinked.
“Oh doctor you bloody idiot..” he whispered.
Setting everything down, he ran out of the TARDIS and back to your flat, knocking frantically on the door.
You didn’t answer fast enough for his liking so he unlocked it himself and slammed it shut behind him.
“Seriously?”
“Who were you talking about when you said you didn’t know if the man you loved was in love with someone else?” He asked.
“Why? What’s it to you?”
He took a deep breath.
“Because I think I know who you meant, and I really don’t want to be wrong about this.”
You shrugged a little bit.
“Oh bloody hell (Y/N).”
He walked over and he leant down, gently pressing his lips to yours before he pulled away.
“He isn’t in love with someone else, he’s just incredibly stupid and hopes you actually were talking about him…” he grinned sheepishly.
The doctor stepped forward and took your face between his hands, and he leant down, kissing your forehead.
“I need to know if what I think is true, is actually true.”
“It is…”
He smiled brightly at you.
“I’m such an idiot…” he whispered.
He sighed a little bit.
“I never said anything to you because I thought it would be simpler for you to have a life here on earth, with a man from here who would stay here. I never realised that I was subconsciously pushing you away and making you feel unwanted I’m so sorry, I’ve been an idiot. I’ve been oblivious, stupid, and in love with you all at the same time.”
“Yeah… but you’re a loveable idiot though.”
He grinned a little bit at you.
“So does this mean you’ll come with me now?”
“I still have work doctor.”
He frowned a little.
“Look, I finished the project next month, ask me again then.”
He nodded and he grinned at you before laughing, wrapping you up in his arms, picking you up and spinning you around and you laughed a little as you hugged him back.
So maybe he wasn’t a human, but was that really so bad? You were just happy to find out that he actually felt the same, you didn’t care he was an alien, he was your alien

Ninth Doctor:
The Archer
I've been the archer I've been the prey Who could ever leave me darling... But who could stay?
"Don't."
I was stunned when he spoke. Well, I was less stunned by the fact that he spoke and more stunned by what he had said.
"What," I asked, forcing a chuckle.
We had just gotten done with another trip. It was a rough one. But it had ended well. Everyone survived. That was what mattered.
Now, I was stood in the console room, maybe a few inches from the Doctor. I thought this was going to be it. The moment that it all changed for us.
"Don't do this," he said, stepping back.
I froze, watching him walk around the console.
It was silent. For a while. A long while. It took me time to gather my thoughts as he fiddled around with pieces of the console.
"I-I'm sorry," I finally muttered. "I thought... I thought we were..."
"I can't," he replied.
"Can't," I asked. "Not don't? But can't?"
He grinned to himself. "Always catching my wording."
"Doctor..."
He looked at me. He didn't say anything. It was like a silent warning. Or a message that he didn't want to discuss it. I stepped toward him. A silent response that I wanted to know.
"You ran off with a strange man in a box," he said. "That's all I should be to you."
I furrowed my eyebrows.
"You deserve a normal life," he continued. "A normal relationship with a normal man. Maybe someone who works in an office. Then, have a normal life and a normal job and a normal marriage-"
I reached over and grabbed his hand. "I have plenty of time to decide whether or not normal is in the cards for me. Right now, I don't want that. I want to be with you."
He raised an eyebrow at me, looking at me through the corner of his eye.
"Because I have feelings for you," I added.
He moved his hand, holding it properly. "And when I let you down?"
"'When'," I asked.
"I will eventually."
"What?"
He stepped away from me. I grabbed his arm before he could. He looked at my hand.
"I don't give a shit about what you think you're going to do," I said. "You have no way to actually know that because you can't travel in your own timeline."
He seemed to bite back a chuckle. "I need to stop teaching you things."
"Too late," I grinned. "Now, Doctor... can I please take you out to dinner?"
There was another pause. He was weighing the chances. The first completely careful decision since I met him.
He finally nodded. "I'd like that."
Stay, Stay, Stay
Stay, stay, stay I've been loving you for quite some time, time, time You think that it's funny when I'm mad, mad, mad But I think that it's best if we both stay
"I have every reason to slap you across the face right now."
"Oh, is there a list?"
I clenched my jaw at his attitude.
There was one thing about the Doctor that I found to be unchanging. He was willing to do anything that could impact an entire planet without saying a single word or giving you any information. And at times, that pissed me off.
"Oh, for the love," I muttered. "You are such a-"
"A what," he asked. I felt my confidence fading. "Go on, what am I?"
"A prick!"
"Ooo, very creative," he sassed.
"Oh, shut up," I shouted. "For the love of God, let me be angry without making some stupid joke out of it! Because I can tell that when you do that, you have nothing to say because you know what you did was wrong!"
"Oh, do I?"
"Yes!"
"How so?"
"Because you have no defense, no reasoning," I said. "You've got an ego and no ability to admit you messed up!"
"I saved those people-"
"You know very well that I am not upset about that!"
"Then, what is it?"
"You didn't communicate with me," I yelled. "You kept me in the dark when you took a risk that could've backfired in a matter of moments!"
"You would've talked me out of it!"
"You have no proof of that! You just don't like being questioned!"
The Doctor didn't speak up after that. I just sighed and sat on one of the benches, tucking my head in my hands.
There was a long moment of silence before he moved to sit down next to me.
"Do you... Do you want to leave," he asked quietly.
"No," I muttered, leaning back in my seat. "Of course, I don't."
He nodded.
"I... I need you to talk to me," I continued, looking at him. "We see situations like that almost every day. I can't run into stuff like that if I know that you don't see us as equals."
"I do see you as an equal."
I raised an eyebrow.
"I... I'll do better," he promised. "You're right."
I placed my hand on my chest in fake shock.
"Shut up," he added.
I grinned, letting my hand fall.
"I want you to stay."
"I'd hope so," I replied, leaning against his shoulder. "Because you're stuck with me."
"I think I'm alright with that."
peace
But there's robbers to the east Clowns to the West I'd give you my sunshine Give you my best But the rain is always gonna come If you're standing with me
I slowly walked over and sat next to the Doctor on the metal steps. He was glaring at the wall. It was like he was building up walls in his mind. Brick by brick.
I didn't force him to speak. I just wrapped an arm around him, leaning on his shoulder.
That seemed to shock him back into reality because he suddenly moved back, looking at me. I grinned at him, sadly. His hand reached over and touched my side. I closed my eyes for a moment. There was a fresh bruise forming from where I got hit during our last trip.
"This keeps happening," he muttered. "I keep getting you hurt."
I shook my head. "I got myself hurt."
"No-"
"I jumped into that fight," I stopped him. "I did that on my own."
"To try and protect me."
"It was still my decision," I said. "I jumped into the fight, that creature was the one to hit me. You're not at fault for any of this."
He pulled his hand away and closed his eyes, looking away from me. I leaned on his shoulder again.
"All I've done is gotten you hurt. You could have some kind of normal life without me-"
"Oh, bullshit," I scoffed, leaning away from him again. His eyes went wide. "You have given me the best period of my life. I wouldn't trade that for the world because you made it all worth it."
I poked his chest as I said "you" the second time, causing him to furrow his eyebrows at me before leaning back slightly.
"You are an amazing man and if staying with you to experience the wonders of time and space means a few bumps and bruises, then I am happy paying that price," I continued. "Because it's you."
I barely caught sight of the small grin on his face. I pointed at him.
"I saw that."
"What?"
"I saw you smile," I said before jumping up from my spot. "Now, come on. I will not have you sit here and be angry with yourself. Because look at me. I'm fine. I am alive and I am happy and that is all because of you."
The Doctor stood up and suddenly pulled me into a hug.
"I'm happy here," I promised. "Without the normal."
"Yeah, so am I," he muttered, hugging me a little tighter.

Tenth Doctor:
Begin Again
'Cause you throw your head back laughing like a little kid I think it's strange that you think I'm funny 'cause he never did I've been spending the last eight months Thinking all love ever does is break and burn and end But on a Wednesday in a café, I watched it begin again
I had long given up on the chance of me being special. I assumed that I was meant for average. Average education, average job, average life.
And then, I met the Doctor and all of that changed.
He took me from my average life. He let me entertain the idea that I was something more than just an average person. That I had a real purpose. I was more than the way other people viewed me.
I think knowing that he saw me as something more than just a human is part of the reason that I developed feelings for him.
I tried to ignore it at first. The two of us were friends. At most. I didn't have time to address those ideas.
And then, we were captured.
We were sitting next to each other in a cell. Not talking much. I was waiting for the Doctor's plan.
"It's times like this that I miss the whole 'bigger on the inside' concept," I muttered.
The Doctor and I looked at each other for a moment before he slowly started laughing. I grinned to myself as he leaned his head against the wall.
He looked over at me when his laughter died down.
I don't know why I decided to do it. I just did. I leaned over and pressed my lips to his gently.
It wasn't until he kissed me back that I let my thoughts drift. The idea that this was all going to work. That I deserved this.
The Doctor cupped the side of my face moments before he leaned back.
"What was that for," he asked.
"Just... Just because I wanted to," I said quietly. He smiled at me. "Get us out of here and I'll do it again."
He chuckled before standing up. "You've got yourself a deal."
Lover
Can I go where you go? Can we always be this close forever and ever? And ah, take me out and take me home You're my, my, my, my Lover
I let out a laugh as the Doctor twirled the pair of us in a circle. He started jumping around the console excitedly, rambling about wherever he wanted us to go.
I watched him go through his whole speech with a grin on my face.
I found myself zoning out after a while, just watching him being completely caught up in his excitement. I think he noticed after a while. He noticed the lovestruck look sitting on my face.
"Are you alright," he asked, walking over to me. His excitement had turned into worry.
I nodded. "Yeah, I'm perfectly fine."
He furrowed his eyebrows at me. "What is it?"
"Nothing, nothing," I shook my head.
"(Y/n)?"
"I just... I love you," I said softly. "A lot."
He grinned at me for a moment before cupping the sides of my face and kissing me. It was quick. More of a peck than anything else. I was just a little bit stunned when he leaned back.
It was the first time that I had said it. I had been thinking it
"I love you too," he mumbled.
A smile broke out on my face.
"Like a lot," he continued. "Honestly, it's getting a bit ridiculous. I'm starting to think-"
"Alright, alright," I laughed, waving him off.
The Doctor chuckled back before stepping back toward the console. "We should take a special trip for this. Some place that we'll remember."
"Anywhere you want," I replied.
"Oh, no," he shook his head. "You follow me every day. It's my turn to follow you. Your choice."
I grinned, walking over to kiss him again. "I love you so much, you madman."
"I love you too," he muttered, kissing my cheek. "So much more than you'll ever know."
Come Back... Be Here
And this is when the feeling sinks in I don't wanna miss you like this Come back, be here, come back, be here
I tried not to count the days after the Doctor left me. He had promised a few hours at most, but what I experienced was weeks of loneliness. I was left in my home that now felt bigger than the TARDIS. I was left without any answers, and I was losing hope.
It was a month after he left that there was a knock on my door.
I pulled open the door to see the Doctor standing there. He had a smile on his face. He clearly had no idea how long it had truly been since I had last seen him. My mouth fell open in shock and I felt tears form in my eyes.
His smile fell when he saw that.
"What happened," he asked. "What's wrong?"
"You said a few hours," I muttered, desperately holding in my tears.
"I did," he nodded. "A few hours-"
"It's been weeks," I cut him off.
"What?"
"You left me here, alone for weeks."
He stepped forward and pulled me into a hug. I wrapped my arms around his torso. I hid my face in his shoulder.
"I'm sorry," he mumbled. "I'm so, so sorry."
"I thought you abandoned me."
"I know," his thumb drew circles on my back. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry. I'll make this all better. I promise. I'll make it up to you."
I didn't say anything. I just hugged him tighter.
"I'm sorry."

Eleventh Doctor:
Haunted
He will try to take away my pain And he just might make me smile But the whole time I'm wishing he was you instead
After the Doctor had regenerated, things were tense. I tried to deny it for as long as possible, but it wasn't truly worth the effort. Amy had only been around for a little while and even she could see it.
I thought I had been hiding it from the Doctor well. I was still doing all of the things that had become normal for us. Well, I thought I had.
"Can we talk about something," the Doctor asked after Amy had gone down one of the hallways.
"Uh, yeah, sure," I nodded, walking over. "What's going on?"
He tensed for a moment, looking at me. "Are we okay?"
"Yeah," I replied immediately. "Yeah."
He raised an eyebrow at me. "Might be new eyes, but I still know when you're lying to me."
I looked away from him.
"It's the face, isn't it," he asked. I closed my eyes. "The new face."
"Stop it-"
"Do you think I don't see it," he cut me off. "You avoid eye contact, you won't hug me, you seem like you're in pain every time I speak-"
"Stop it-"
"If you really can't stand that I changed, then leave-"
"I am trying," I yelled.
There was a pause. The silence was suffocating.
"I am trying," I repeated. "But it is like looking at a ghost. His words are coming out of your mouth. I look at you and expect to see the same man that I ran away with. Every day, I look at you and get reminded that you changed. That every cell in your body was just different. I had a history with the old you. A history and a relationship. You... You're a complete stranger that knows everything about me, and that's hard to deal with. I would give anything to have him back. I know that's not possible, but it's hard to ignore that nagging feeling. I'm trying to accept you... it's just not easy. I'm sorry, but I'm trying."
The Doctor just stared at me for a moment. I closed my eyes again, tilting my head down toward the grated floor of the TARDIS. I heard him walking closer to me. Slowly, like he was waiting for me to move away.
"I have changed my face many times," he said softly. "It has always been normal for me. Sometimes, I forget it's not normal for you. I'm sorry."
I shook my head. He reached out and took my hands. I lifted my gaze to look at him. He forced a soft grin. It was meant to be comforting. I had noticed that about this form of him, a soft grin with sad eyes.
"Every cell of who I was changed," he continued. "But how I felt about you did not. What I experienced with you did not. I'm different, yes, but I still love you."
I nodded. I wanted to say it back. I just couldn't yet. I still had to get used to his new face. To adjust to the change in what was around me.
He leaned his forehead against mine, running his thumbs over my knuckles. It was a quiet promise that he understood and was willing to wait for me.
Which was all I could ask for.
Fearless
'Cause I don't know how it gets better than this You take my hand and drag me head first, fearless And I don't know why but with you I'd dance In a storm in my best dress, fearless
"I hope you realize how bad of an idea this is."
I looked up from the cell's lock to look at the Doctor. He was sitting there in handcuffs in a damn alien prison. I crossed my arms over my chest and tilted my head at him.
"I could always leave you here and escape with Amy and Rory on my own," I offered. "Since this was such a bad idea."
"No, no, no," he stood up, walking closer to the door. "It was a great idea. Amazing even. You deserve an award-"
"Shush," I chuckled, before unlocking the door.
He walked out and held out his arms. "Where'd you find my sonic screwdriver?"
"There were two guards playing with it because they didn't understand what it was," I shrugged as I unlocked the handcuffs. "Getting this was the easiest thing."
"Well, thank you," he replied, grabbing the screwdriver from my hand before starting to walk down the hall.
"Wrong way," I said.
"What?"
"Since you're in the back corner, the guards are going to come from only that direction," I explained before grabbing his hand and dragging him with me. "Come on."
The Doctor seemed a little bit shocked but followed me regardless. The TARDIS had been tucked away in an empty corner. I shoved the Doctor inside and slammed the door behind us.
"When did you-"
"Learned from you," I cut him off. I jogged over to the console and got us out of the prison.
Once we were all just floating in space, I turned back to the Doctor with a small smirk. He was just kind of blinking at me.
"Doctor?"
"You... You put yourself in a lot of danger," he replied. I nodded. "Don't do that again. Not for me. If I get captured like that, you run."
"No," I said simply.
"What?"
"I'm not going to run when I know that I can help you," I shrugged. "When have I ever operated that way? Ever?"
His jaw clenched. I crossed my arms over my chest.
"You're welcome, by the way."
He sighed, looking down for a moment. "Thank you. And I'm sorry."
I nodded.
He walked forward and pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back, taking note of him sighing and relaxing slightly.
"I love you," he mumbled into my ear. "I know I'm protective... overbearing, maybe. But it's because I love you."
"I... I love you too."
"What," he leaned back, holding onto my upper arms. I chuckled at his shock. "Don't laugh at me. Say that again."
"I love you too."
It was the first time I had gotten the words out since he had regenerated. He leaned over and pressed his lips to mine. It felt like the world had fallen into place. I was reminded of why I had decided to travel with him.
I pulled away a few moments later, holding the sides of his face.
"I'd follow you anywhere," I promised. "I always have and always will. I'm so sorry that I've closed you off."
He grinned and leaned his forehead against mine. "It's okay."
I grinned back.
"Say it again," he mumbled. "Please."
"I love you."
His smile grew. "I love you too."
Call It What You Want
All my flowers grew back as thorns Windows boarded up after the storm He built a fire just to keep me warm
I smiled as the Doctor kissed my forehead and started running ahead of Clara and me to look at the different booths lining the street.
"So..."
"So...," I copied Clara's tone.
"How did... that happen," she motioned between me and the Doctor. "If you don't mind me asking."
"No, no, not at all," I shook my head. "Well, I met him a few years ago now. I... I was an asshole, really. I was not very nice to him. I was closed off and defensive. But he put up with me. And he wore me down and... we fell for each other."
"That's it?"
"What detail are you looking for," I chuckled. "I'm sorry, but there are some details that you do not need."
"No, no, not like that," she shook her head. "I just... when did you know?"
"Oh... well...," I mumbled. "He knew before I did, really. He kissed me long before I realized what I was feeling."
"What, he just jumped right into it?"
"Jumped is a harsh word, but almost," I laughed. "I had no idea what to call what was happening. I just... let it happen."
"So, he fell head over heels, and you had no idea what was happening?"
"Pretty much."
She laughed. "That's so fitting for both of you."
I elbowed her lightly.
"You two look like you're having fun," the Doctor commented as he walked back over. He kissed the side of my head. "I found something for you."
"Oh?"
He held out a pen to me.
"A pen?"
"A very cool pen," he explained. "Ink changes color at will, the pen tip can change forms, all sorts of things you can do with this pen."
"A very cool pen," I nodded, taking it from him. "Thank you."
He grinned.
Clara was just watching us interact. "You had no idea?"
"Shut up."
"No idea about what?"
"Doesn't matter."
"Yes, it does," Clara argued.
"Find anything else interesting," I asked the Doctor.
He grabbed my hand and nodded, pulling me along the road. I stuck my tongue out at Clara as I followed. She copied me as she caught up.
Name or no name, I was happy with what the Doctor and I had. I always had been and I had a suspicion that I always would be.

Twelfth Doctor:
You Are in Love
And for once you let go Of your fears and your ghosts One step, not much But it said enough
Clara walked out of the TARDIS with a wave.
I was leaning against the console. The Doctor walked back over, going around me to start leaving.
"You seem distracted," he said.
I hummed, snapping out of my thoughts.
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing's wrong," I shrugged. "I'm just thinking."
"Awful idea."
"Shut up," I laughed.
I held out a hand to him. He furrowed his eyebrows. I opened and closed it a few times. He reached out and grabbed my hand, letting me pull him over until he was standing just in front of me. I took his other hand, holding both of his hands in mine.
"I love you," I said softly.
It was the first time I had muttered the words to this version of him. I felt like I needed to find out who he was all over again. But I knew now. I was still in love with him.
"Excuse me," he asked.
"I... I love you."
I was second-guessing myself now. I had fallen for this version, but I didn't question if this version of him had fallen for me.
"Your silence is making me feel a little silly."
"You love me? Even now... with all the wrinkles and the gray hair."
"I thought we established that I didn't care about that," I said. "You're still you, Doctor. That's all there is to it. I love you, Doctor. In whatever form you up in."
He closed his eyes for a moment.
"And you can't force me to change that."
"I love you too," he muttered. I smiled.
"Good," I kissed his cheek. "Now... where are we going next?"
New Year's Day
Don't read the last page But I stay when you're lost, and I'm scared And you're turning away
"You could leave."
I looked over at the Doctor. Clara was off on a phone call. It was just the two of us by the TARDIS.
It was just after he had regenerated. After the strangely childish man with sad eyes turned into the man that showed his years and anger on his face.
I furrowed my eyebrows. "I don't want to leave."
"Why not," he asked. "I'm not the man you knew. Look at me."
"You took off a mask," I replied. "You're different, but you're still you."
"You aren't afraid? That I'm too different. That I've changed too much to be the man you knew."
"Of course, I'm afraid," I crossed my arms over my chest. "That doesn't matter to me. Because you... the last version of you wouldn't want me to blindly walk away because I'm scared. He'd want me to stay. And I want to stay."
I reached over and took his hand.
"I'm staying," I continued. "Through the messes and emergencies and adventures. You're stuck with you, madman. Get used to it."
He grinned, chuckling to himself. "I'll need someone to keep me out of trouble."
"Oh no... I follow you into trouble. Until the end."
"Don't say that."
"Fine," I muttered. "Doesn't change that I meant it."
"Thank you."
I just nodded. "You're welcome... madman."
Forever & Always
Was I out of line? Did I say something way too honest, made you run and hide Like a scared little boy? I looked into your eyes Thought I knew you for a minute, now I'm not so sure
It had clearly been tense.
Clara was supposedly home with Danny. Supposedly was the keyword in that sentence. Missy had told the Doctor that Gallifrey was back where it belonged.
I didn't know where I stood now.
"Clara's home," I said as the Doctor messed with the console. "What about you?"
"I go back to Gallifrey," he replied. "Help them, maybe."
I grinned. "Like your title's sake."
He grinned back at me.
"What about me," I asked. "Where do I go now that your people are back?"
"It hasn't changed how I feel about you."
"That doesn't mean I can go with you," I shrugged. "A human on Gallifrey soil. Doesn't work, Doctor."
"It can," his eyes went wide. Like he was suddenly having an idea. "I know exactly what to do."
"You never know exactly-"
"I have an idea of what to do."
"Better."
"All you need to do is listen to me," he replied. I nodded. He cupped the sides of my face. "This is going to be brilliant."
I let the smile on my face grow. He started running around the TARDIS. He pressed buttons and flipped levers until the TARDIS came to a pretty sudden landing.
"Where are we," I asked.
He motioned toward the door. I furrowed my eyebrows. He just exaggerated the motion.
I chuckled before walking out.
I was confused when my feet hit the sidewalk. I looked down as the door shut behind me. I took a few steps forward, looking around. It just looked like Earth. Why would he make such a big deal out of Earth?
I was about halfway into the road when I heard the TARDIS's engine starting up. I turned around.
"Doctor," I called. It started disappearing in front of me. "No, no, no."
I ran over, but it was already too far gone for me to grab onto it.
"No, no," I repeated. "You said there was a way! You can't just abandon me here!"
He couldn't hear me. I knew that.
"You coward! You said you had a plan!"
I looked down when I felt tears fill my eyes.
Everything I loved was gone. I had no one here waiting for me. I was completely alone. I lost it all in one chain of events.
And it was the Doctor's fault.

Thirteenth Doctor:
invisible string
A string that pulled me Out of all the wrong arms right into that dive bar Something wrapped all of my past mistakes in barbed wire Chains around my demons Wool to brave the seasons One single thread of gold tied me to you
"I feel like I've known you forever."
I was sitting on the TARDIS floor as the Doctor on some part of the engine. It was nice. A nice, slow day for both of us.
"Why's that," she asked, still focused on the engine.
"Don't know," I shrugged. "It just feels like I was drawn to you. Like how you had that feeling when you asked me to travel with you. It's like any of the past mistakes I've made or bad things that have happened don't matter because I was tied to you through all of it."
The Doctor slid away from the engine so she could look at me. I grinned at her.
"Are you suggesting it was destiny," she asked.
"Kinda... I guess," I shrugged. "I only really know one thing. I... I love you, Doctor."
I let out a shocked noise when she leaned over and pressed her lips to mine. I chuckled against her lips before adjusting so the kiss was more comfortable. She pulled away slowly, leaning her forehead on mine.
"I love you too," she muttered.
I smiled even wider.
"I've... I've gotta finish this work, but then, I'll find an amazing place for us to go and celebrate this all."
"Want me to wait here?"
"Want me to teach you some stuff about the TARDIS engine?"
I excitedly nodded before going to sit next to her.
Listening to her ramble on and on about the engine was one of the best times of my life. She was so excited. I tried to understand all of it because this was perfect. Perfect for me.
If this was some kind of fate, then I was perfectly happy with that.
Paper Rings
I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this Uh huh, that's right Darling, you're the one I want
I had never craved death more than when I introduced the Doctor to my family. Not because of the Doctor. She did great. However, they were awful.
There was so much that I hadn't wanted the Doctor to know. Old relationships and mistakes that could change she looked at me. I hated the idea that I would suddenly be shunned by the one person that I genuinely gave a shit about.
I had stormed out of the house, going back toward the TARDIS.
I sat down next to the door when I realized that I couldn't get in without a key. I looked up when I heard footsteps.
"I was worried about you," the Doctor said. "Your mom was just very talkative."
I looked down at my lap.
"Stand up," she continued. "Let's head inside."
I nodded and stood up. I followed her into the TARDIS, still wanting to just implode instead of facing the consequences of what happened.
I stood near the door, looking down with my arms crossed over my chest. The Doctor moved around the console, messing with levers and such. After a while, she walked over to me.
"Y'know, I've had my share of weird family experiences," she said. "I've been slapped and yelled at. Accepted or hated. Your family's stories didn't bother me."
I took a deep breath, not speaking.
She leaned down so she fell into my line of sight. "And I don't care how they want me to see you."
I looked up, leading her to stand up straight.
"Because I've seen you and I know you," she continued. "And you are amazing. One of the best things in my life."
I grinned a little. "Really?"
She nodded.
I leaned forward and kissed her gently. She wrapped her arms around me, pulling me closer.
"You're the best thing that's happened to me, Doctor," I muttered as my forehead rested against hers. She smiled at me. "It's like nothing else matters when I'm with you."
She pecked my lips again before stepping away from me completely.
"Where are we going now," I asked, following her to the console.
"Somewhere lovely," she replied. "A lovely place for the both of us."
I nodded. "I like the sound of that."
Run
And run, like you'd run from the law Darling, let's run Run from it all We can go where our eyes can take us Go where no one else is, run
Meeting the Doctor had been a mistake.
My friends and I had ended up caught in an emergency situation that the Doctor had been trying to stop. It wasn't all that surprising that our paths crossed.
The Doctor was dropping my friends and me off. I was the last to be sent home. I was just getting to my door.
"Hey!"
I stopped and turned back. The Doctor was leaning out the door of her spaceship (I didn't know it was called a TARDIS at the time).
"You know... there's a lot of space in here," she said. "If you wanted, you could join."
"Why me," I asked, tilting my head.
"I don't know, really," she shrugged. "Just have a good feeling."
I chuckled and looked down.
"What do you say?"
"I...," I paused for a moment. "Yes."
"Come on then!"
The Doctor ran inside, making me laugh before running off to follow her. When I closed the door behind me, the Doctor was standing next to the console. I stood completely still, too scared to touch anything.
"So... you've got all of time and space... where do you wanna go?"
I blinked at her a few times as I thought about it. She raised an eyebrow at me.
I took a deep breath before speaking, "Whatever will have the most adventure. Give me an escape from the ordinary."
She smiled a little wider. "As you wish."

“Don’t think I haven’t seen you staring.” Jack’s words came from above you, disrupting the peace in one of the TARDIS’ many lounges.
You had carefully picked this particular spot to read your book, some peace and quiet had been needed after your latest adventure. Rose had joined you about fifteen minutes in, but she had a magazine of her own. The two of you had been sitting in companionable silence for not nearly long enough before Jack had barged in.
You looked up from your book, indignation rising slightly when you saw the smugly teasing smirk pulling up the corner of his mouth. He even had his hands on his hips, cockily resting his weight on one leg. The captain was positively itching for mischief. You rolled your eyes and gave him a look before looking back down at the page, trying to find your spot.
“Don’t flatter yourself, captain. I’m definitely not the first to notice you have a nice ass, and I won’t be the last.”
Jack shrugged in acquiescence; you certainly weren’t wrong in that regard. “Fair,” he conceded, “But that’s not what I’m talking about.” At this point, Rose peeked up from her magazine, curious to see just what kind of staring Jack was about to charge you with.
“Then what are you talking about?” you asked indulgently, turning a page to hide your exasperation. So much for peace and quiet.
“You’re gonna make me say it?” Jack sauntered over to the couch you were plopped into and draped himself over the remaining two cushions. His sock covered toes gently tapped your thigh.
“Spit it out Jack,” Rose urged with a big smile, never passing up an opportunity for teasing anyone. Jack sighed like he was under extreme duress and pinched the bridge of his nose. Oh this was just delicious.
“Alright then. Sixth moon of Caldorsia, not twelve hours ago. Your eyes barely left the backside of our mutual friend. You, my obvious little friend, were staring.”
You pretended to ignore him and turn another page, but Jack had found you out. You had admitted it to yourself, but that didn’t mean you were ready to admit to anyone else that you had a major crush on the Doctor. You bit your bottom lip, trying to suppress the burning flush that had risen to your cheeks.
“Not only that,” Jack continued, oblivious to your discomfort (or at least feigning it), “There was that time a few weeks ago when he helped you out of that sink hole, gathered you in his arms and you giggled and swooned like a Victorian lady.”
In… Out… In… Out… You forced yourself to breathe slowly, evenly. You couldn’t let Jack and Rose see how affected you were. Rose’s smile grew, the tip of her tongue between her teeth.
“Oh, and!” Jack held up a finger like he had a eureka moment. “There was that time in Spain when the two of you got caught-“
You threw your book at Jack before he could say any more, the paperback hitting him square in the chest.
“I KNEW IT!” Rose yelled, clapping her hands and laughing. “I knew you had a thing for him!”
You groaned and hid your face in your hands, trying to drown out Jack and Rose’s laughter. “Oh, don’t be embarrassed,” Jack goaded. He put your book on the floor and patted your back. “Not the first to have a crush on dear old Doctor and certainly won’t be the last.” Rose giggled again.
“Exceeept,” she cooed, fanning herself with her magazine. “I could swear I saw a certain Time Lord staring back…” You lifted your head up just an inch, a tiny spark of hope glimmering to life in your chest.
“Wait,” you asked in a small, barely audible whisper, “Really?”
Jack stifled a giggle against his fist. It really was just too cute, how much you and the Doctor clearly had feelings for each other and were just too silly to realize or act on it. “Oh yea,” he agreed, briefly biting into his knuckles. “I can confirm, those eyes rarely leave your-“
Rose threw her magazine at Jack, albeit with much less intent to kill. “So!” she sat back in her chair and crossed her arms. “Think you two lovebirds can sort this out on your own, or do the captain and I need to intervene?”
~~
Over your next few adventures, Jack and Rose tried everything they could think of to get you and the Doctor alone and in a confessing spirit, and nothing had worked- tender moments, life-threatening incidents that overwhelmed one into getting all their secrets off their chest, even truth or dare. Nothing could get the two of you to just come clean with each other. As sweet as it was to watch you stare tenderly and wistfully when you thought the other wasn’t looking, the lack of results was getting frustrating.
A few (relative) weeks after Jack and Rose’s intervention, you went on another adventure that had not yielded any confessions of love, but for once, it was you saving him (with the help of Jack and Rose). That’s right, you had figured out how to save the Doctor, Jack, Rose, and an entire passenger shuttle. You were on top of the world, the whole universe! Your blood ran deliciously hot in your veins, you felt like you could run a marathon, fight anything and anyone bare-handed. You even felt like you had enough courage to finally fess up. You had just saved his life, there probably wouldn’t be a better time.
The Doctor nimbly piloted them back into the vortex, bracing himself on the console with his head hung once they were safe in the river of time. He had come so close to losing all three of you, close enough to feel the specter of death breathing down his neck. And then, like a shining angel in full glory, you had appeared with a solution, saving everyone on that shuttle, including him. He had never seen you like that, full of blazing fury and determination. Once he saw that look in your eyes, he knew they were all going to make it out alive.
He had never felt so much simultaneous love and terror in his life.
You were pacing laps around the console room, adrenaline still fueling your steps. Rose and Jack had discreetly sidled into a corner, watching the two of you and whispering, taking bets on whether one of you would finally break.
You got in two more laps before the impulse hit you. The Doctor was no longer hunched over the console as if it were the only thing that could keep him standing, rather he was standing straight and tall, hands behind his back, a soldier at rest. On your next lap, you broke your pattern and your brisk strides took you to the Doctor.
You purposefully grabbed the lapels of his leather jacket and pulled him into a searing kiss. The Doctor was only momentarily surprised, his hands flailing for a few seconds before resting on your shoulders.
You barely heard Jack and Rose’s cheers and high fives, all your senses were focused on the Doctor and the fact that he was returning your kiss. When the two of you finally separated so you could breathe (damn respiratory bypass), the adrenaline finally faded and a dopey smile spread across your face.
“Took you long enough!” Jack called with a laugh, only feeling safe to do so because there was nothing in your reach you could throw at him. Rose chimed in with “You’re welcome!” The Doctor glowered, but you just rolled your eyes with a laugh.
“Yea yea yea,” you ground out with a laugh. “You two are regular matchmakers.”
