Perfect Propose is a little gem. By the end of the first episode I was prepared to marry Kai myself - the man cooks, cleans and provides sexual relief. Actually I was expecting it to be spicier than it was given the first ep but actually it was a gentle story about two isolated, lonely men finding comfort, joy and love in each other's company.

PLUS loads of Japanese food cooking/presentation/eating.

Bloody lovely.

Six x 25 min episodes and done.

The only thing that i disliked was the depiction of the (realistic) toxic Japanese workplace environment. I would have liked the entire team to quit and I wanted to see that bully of a supervisor's face when confronted with the resignations. But hey, you can't have everything.

Perfect Propose: actually, kinda perfect

I loved this little slice-of-life drama from Japan (and the writer of Old Fashion Cupcake!). Elevates love over power, skewers grind work culture, and even allows one of the baddies to realize their errors. Two good leads, solid work from the rest of the cast, interesting background stories, told in 6 short episodes. (Could have been longer but it's fine as is.) Can absolutely recommend. 9/10.

Hiro (KANEKO SHUNYA) over enjoyed a night out with co-workers or rather his lack of sleep and or tiredness tanked him after one beer.

His work supervisor calls his roommate Kai (NOMURA KOTA) and he comes for his Hiro.

Can these two heal one another from their unhappiness?

Hiro from his mundane life of work and home with not even time for a decent meal.

Kai from his less than ideal circumstances of decent home life since childhood as well as losing the only father like figure slash boss when the old man that took him in collapsed.

Over 10 years later Kai seeks out that older kid from the park. The older kid that made him feel needed & wanted.

As Kai turned to see the bright smile on the adorable Hiro. He finally found...the ONE.
