Edogawa Ranpo

Of the three, Ranpo is far and away the smartest, in both intellect and emotional intelligence. It's very unlikely you can hide how you feel about him missing your birthday from him - even if you haven't been dating Ranpo for long, if you're his s/o, he knows you. He can read your mood like a 3-D pop-up book. It's disconcerting but also oddly comforting.

It is very unlikely he forgot your birthday - it's more probably that he was doing a job for the Armed Detective Agency and got so wrapped up in it that he temporarily set aside everything else until it was finished. When Ranpo is chasing an interesting case it's nigh on impossible to get him to focus on anything else.

Once his hyperfixation ends, though, he does feel a little guilty. You ARE the s/o to the World's Greatest Detective, after all, so logically that means you ought to be celebrated! He gets right to it, roping in poor hapless Atsushi and other members of the Agency into decorating the office for your birthday. Of course he knows what gift you want (and probably makes Atsushi, Kunikida or someone go out and actually buy it. What? He'd get lost if he had to take the train to the mall!) He still takes credit when you praise him for being so thoughtful.

Ranpo tends to be a little lazy and spoiled, but for you, on your special day, he very nobly puts that aside to spoil you for a change. You wanna go do something fun like visit an amusement park or go to a concert? Great! He'll have Fukuzawa pay for tickets! You want to do something more lowkey, maybe chilling at home cuddling and watching movies with him? Awesome, he'll get popcorn! You wanna go out partying and getting shitfaced? Well…he's not much of a drinker, but he'll still come with to dance with you and hold your hair back when you puke. (He'll make Fukuzawa come pick your drunk ass up.)

And don't forget a long, long night of some truly incredible oral - Ranpo's best asset in the bedroom is that tongue of his, so he's going to go to town on you~

Remember to lavish him with praise over what a great boyfriend he is. He needs the validation, okay?

Nakahara Chuuya

With Chuuya he was probably doing a mission for Mori and simply didn't have time to be there or he did forget. His way of making it up to you is simple - gifts. Chuuya is very wealthy thanks to being a high-ranking Port Mafia agent, so whatever you want is yours. That new Prada bag? Done. You want a spa day with all the works? Already booked. Fanciest resturaunt in town? He can just waltz in and get a table whenever he wants.

This may sound all fine and great, but Chuuya may not immediately notice how you're feeling about him missing your birthday - he'll apologise but in a "Oops, sorry, babe!" kind of way and you'll have to be upfront with him if you're actually upset. Chuuya does have a bit of a bad habit of buying your affection when he's too busy to spend time with you, because he's used to people depending on him and being seen as a provider. If you like gift-giving as a love language then you might not consider this an issue, but he does somewhat use his money to assuage feeling guilty and avoid discussing it because he doesn't like seeing you upset.

Also, Chuuya has no memories of before he was seven years old and I doubt very much he got to celebrate his birthdays much when he was running around Suribachi with the Sheep. Sure, he can afford to go ham for his birthday now, and his subordinates gives him gifts (Koyo always buys him wine), but he might not quite grasp the emotional significance of birthdays. Sit him down and explain to him that you appreciate the gifts, but you want him, YOUR BOYFRIEND to be with you, not a credit card.

To make it up to you, Chuuya will give you a birthday fuck that goes on all night. If you have a position or kink you haven't got around to requesting from Chuuya, now's the time, because he intends to make you feel so good you can barely walk the next day.

Akutagawa Ryuunosuke

I'm gonna be honest, Akutagawa is not particularly understanding or sympathetic. At least, not right away.

He grew up in the slums with his kid sister, surviving off scraps and learning to fight from a very young age. Akutagawa likely had no concept of what a 'birthday' even was except just being another year he's managed to survive in the hellhole he was born into. Even now he's an adult and can afford to do whatever he wants to celebrate if he so chooses, he's not a very birthday person. He always buys a gift for Gin and will get something for his superiors as a token of respect (because it's expected of him), and he'll begrudgingly tell Higuchi "happy birthday", but overall he doesn't consider them that important. He does appreciate being given gifts, but doesn't think of them as a necessity.

So if you get upset or angry with him, he's liable to bite back at first. Akutagawa has trouble apologising because he was never apologised to when he was treated poorly, so he's generally not good at owning up to his mistakes. Like Chuuya, you need to explain to him that even if he doesn't place much importance on birthdays, you do and it hurts you that he doesn't seem to care.

That will get to him. For as grumpy and quick to violence as he is, he does care about his s/o greatly and he doesn't want to lose you. He doesn't even know why you love him in the first place, but he isn't willing to throw your whole relationship away over something trivial like this. So, he'll treat you to whatever you want. He's got the money to really spoil you and he doesn't take much time off, so he'll be able to free up his schedule. (Gin will also remind him next time or help him set up a reminder on his phone so he doesn't miss it in future.)

Try not to force him to come clubbing or some other loud, crowded activity. He won't refuse because he feels bad, but he'll ruin the mood by brooding in the corner like a wilting plant and he gets overstimulated and grouchy quite quickly. But he doesn't mind treating you to a posh meal or going on a holiday or something like that.

I hope you don't mind being tied up, because once somebody explains to Akutagawa the concept of birthday sex, he will go find you immediately and use Rashomon to hold you still for hours while he works you over - that's one birthday tradition he doesn't consider frivolous~

If you had to pick 3, what are some of your biggest artistic influences/inspirations?

ooh, that's a good question..... I'd say a huge one is older jrpgs (in the range of 90s-mid 00s), which isn't very specific but I can say that my love of them started with chrono trigger. in that same vein I take a lot of inspiration from 80s and 90s anime, or more contemporary anime that mimics an older style (some standouts are kaiba, evangelion, and flcl). going back even farther, by far my biggest artistic influence as a teenager was the mother series, between the themes and imagery of the games themselves and the fanart I managed to dig up and save to my computer. which I can also thank for leading me to more "traditional" jrpgs...... which I only got interested in in the first place because of homestuck...... so I guess you could say everything kind of comes back to homestuck LMAO.

it's hard to pin down specific artists, if that's what you're looking for, because everything is influenced by everything else and sometimes a random piece of art someone posted on the internet is the thing that makes something click for me. for example, I started always drawing blush lines on the face for a bit of texture because of a dangan ronpa fanart I saw in 2013...... hrmm, I guess I could name osamu tezuka, akira toriyama, and rumiko takahashi. not because of their specific works, which I'm really not as well-versed in as I should be, but because of their enormous influence on almost everything I love. so my answer is either those three people, or old jrpgs, 90s anime, and the mother series. people sometimes tell me my style reminds them of old anime, so there's the reason why!

Favorite and least favorite Blazblue characters?

Yay~ finally getting to this ask. I’ve got a lot of really cool asks (thank you everyone so much) that I’ve been wanting to get to, but my health is Rather Poor, and when I do answer these things, I want to be able to put a lot of energy and attention into them.

Now, getting to the ask! I had a lot to say, and it all came out messy... and somehow, I only ended up talking about one character, Nu 13. Who fits as both one of my favorite and one of my least favorite characters, for reasons detailed below. To not make this an entire fucking novel, I'll cut the post off here and consider it an early birthday post for her.

That said, here's a quick run down of some other stuff I didn't get to talk about, relevant to your question.

My other Hated Fave is Nine/Konoe. One of those “I love the character but if we were stuck in a room together I’d maul her” situations. I consider her to be a misandrist, and I have a very charged history of like, generational reactive sexism in my family, so her generational reactive sexism (relationship with her father coloring her relationship with men overall) enrages me. On the other hand, it’s so well written, SHE’S so well written, she’s an incredible character and I adore her as an art piece. She is like a cathedral to me. The most beautiful symphony in a key you hate.

Touched on briefly in the post below, my all time absolute favorite is Terumi/Susano'o. That's a story for another day. I like him in a very particular way where he's like, the best character ever, but also he's constantly on probation. Or reverse probation? I need to see him try to kill/maim/ruin someone once a month or he's at risk of being evicted. Being the champion is a title you have to defend, y'know?

I think the character I study the most and talk about the most is Noel, although to my tastes, she's very middle of the road. I feel neutral about her. I just use her as a guinea pig for all my BB related project. You know Dangan Ronpa? How they used Sayaka and Leon as a starting point/beta test for everything? It's kind of like that, except I haven't gotten so sick of her yet that I'm killing her off or anything.

With all of that covered, allow me to get into the actual post! Thank you for your patience!

Off the top of my head at least, I can’t honestly think of BlazBlue characters I dislike. Every character that comes to mind shares something that makes me hesitant to actually claim I dislike them. That is, the characters I like the least are the characters I understand the least. Spinner Superior and the entire Bloodedge Experience cast make the list… but I haven’t read BE. Valkenhayn makes the cut- another character I really don’t pay attention to. Bullet, Hibiki, maybe Amane- all characters I really just… haven’t paid much attention to yet.

I don’t really want to claim I dislike them at this point, because when I really think about it, I’m like 99% sure that I lack interest in them BECAUSE I haven’t taken the time to look at them.

One of my hobby/goal/things in my free time is working on these BB character documents, analyzing everything I can about each character in the series for my own personal work. I have a feeling that when I get to really analyzing and writing about these characters, I’ll find things I like about them.

Here's a quick look at my files, to see what I'm talking about. Have mercy, it's very WIP.

There are two characters that stand out to me in an… almost “love to hate” way, but not quite. I have a lot to say about these characters, but I’m still tired, and this post is going to be LONG as is, so I’ll try to keep it brief.

Author's Note: I fail to keep it brief.

Before BBDW, my least favorite character was DEFINITELY Nu13. Ironic, because she almost got me into BB back in the Continuum Shift days. I saw her and some of her crazy behavior and thought... well, not much, just kind of an error message in my head going “hot woman spotted.” So I looked into her, and her story!

And got bored immediately. At first I was intrigued- I love violent characters that could arguably be described as “rabid” or “feral,” but upon further inspection, she had one of the few character flaws I just can’t look past. She was absolutely static. Immutable. The only character she was willing to interact with was Ragna, and even when interacting with him, she couldn’t hear a thing he said. In my interpretation, at the time, this made her a character that couldn’t connect with the outside world in any way. To me, she was an island. Absolutely remote. And completely useless to my interests.

A fear years later, a few months before the launch of Chronophantasma Extend, I ended up getting into BlazBlue anyway powered by sheer Terumi thirst. Are you guys starting to get a picture of my type yet? From then on, BB has remained my all time favorite series, and Terumi/Susano’o continues to be in my top three favorite characters, usually comfortably wearing the “#1 all time fave” crown. I suppose that answers the other half of your question.

Throughout this time, Nu still didn’t appeal to me at all. Locked in as my least favorite, definitely. Eventually, I got my college roommates into BB. One of the girls fell in absolute love with Nu. I couldn’t understand it at all. In hindsight, she’s right on every point about Nu that she likes, and I really appreciate those traits now too- but I couldn’t see it at the time. She was able to see Nu as an incredibly tragic character for the same reasons I saw her as inert. In the C-Series, Nu is alone, horribly alone, locked in her pain and her delusion. I saw that and ultimately felt she was beyond saving, but my associate felt that made her into a beautiful tragedy, a princess more worth saving than any other. Maybe I’m getting a little abstract out of nowhere here, but I now feel that’s the best way to look at Nu’s story- she’s locked away in this fairy tale delusion. Ugh, I have more to say on it, but look at how long this has gotten already!

Anyways, then BBDW came out, and Mori gave us a glimpse of what he intended to be the next step in Nu’s story. Juusan, XIII, Thirteen. And hooooooooooooly shit my guys, I absolutely love Nu, XIII, and her arc now. It’s her fucking healing arc! It’s her fucking growing arc! She’s finally able to start becoming a person, fleshing out, interacting with the world!

I’m not the type who really needs or even WANTS redemption arcs for characters, but Nu DESPERATELY needed this chapter. My biggest gripe with her, as mentioned, was that it seemed impossible for her to have any kind of relationship with ANYONE. I guess I was a little close minded- I needed to see evidence that Nu could be reached, that she could wake up from her fairy tale slumber and start really living. And we have that now, in XIII.

Looking back on the writing from the earlier games, when I hated Nu so much, I see those scenes in an entirely different light. Her first fucking scene in every route is waking up, our sleeping beauty. But she wakes up to the same dream every time. She’s put right back into her coffin, death, to dream and dream and wake and be killed again. Isn’t that kind of beautiful??? Her CT story mode IS a dream, it’s a desperate dream, the one she holds most dearly but doesn’t even understand- Nu is a character who THINKS what she wants more than anything is a romantic love with her prince charming, but we see in her story mode there, and in the relationships that finally save her, that what she really wanted was a full relationship as a real person. Platonic relationships, with no expectations, just someone seeing her and maybe offering her a smile. She craved, needed, the ability to connect with others, but that was a dream so far out of reach she couldn’t understand it. I KNOW I’M RAVING AT THIS POINT, I DIDN’T MEAN TO, BUT C’MON IT’S BEAUTIFUL.

And, and!!! As I mentioned, the relationships that finally save her, finally wake her up from the dream the same way the BB world is being woken up from ITS looping dream (WHICH IS ANOTHER AWESOME CONNECTION AND GREAT WRITING, THE WAY NU AS A CHARACTER CAN BE SEEN TO EMBODY THE LOOPING WORLD, NEW AND BROKEN AND UNABLE TO CHANGE WITH NO HOPE OF TOMORROW)

Ahem, ahem-- It’s familial connections. She so badly wants that romance with Ragna, but it isn’t the love of a prince that saves her- it’s when he accepts her as his sister. It’s when he accepts her as a victim and her own person and not a bastardization of Saya, and comes to save this lonely girl. An echo of his little sister he couldn’t save. HIS ENTIRE JOURNEY WAS TO SAVE HIS SISTER AND HE FINALLY DOES. IN SO MANY WAYS, INCLUDING IN THAT MOMENT OF REACHING OUT TO NU.

And then it’s Noel. And Lamba. Her sisters. Again, people who once saw her as a disgusting representation of what they feared the most, a replacement or a copy- when they let that go, see past it, and really face her, they take Nu in as their little sister. And its their patient love that heals her. Just like Ragna, when they first met Nu, her connection to Saya and themselves terrified them, infuriated them, but now they look directly at that connection and don’t see it as a threat. It fills them with compassion. It can be a lovely thing, to share something so fundamental as your creation with someone else. There’s love in that. They see it now and are able to offer it to her.

This answer has been very messy and very long, but hey, let’s pretend it isn’t that bad. Give me some mercy, I’m on so much cough syrup.

misc clock 0ut meta

unlike my previous two c0 meta posts ([here] and [here]), which are about theories/interpretations, this is just a post for things i noticed that i think are interesting and don't have a particular theory for.

item one: the pocket watch handoff doesn't exist

the handoff of the pocket watch from the narrator's possession to stanley's in blue lies does not exist. and i don't mean that we don't see it: i mean we specifically see that it doesn't happen.

the scene starts here, the pocketwatch in the narrator's hand. then the confrontation where stanley shoves him against the wall and the title card--then the next shot is of stanley releasing him again. at which point we see this frame:

this is stanley in the process of letting go of the narrator. both of his hands are empty. next he takes a step back as the narrator collapses against the wall, we cut to the close-up of stanley's expression of contempt, and he leaves. he doesn't move toward the narrator again after this screenshot, which is in the middle of him moving away. he isn't holding the watch. and yet the next scene:

stanley doesn't take the pocketwatch from the narrator, and yet it ends up in his hand anyway. i don't know what this means--the pocketwatch having a mind of its own? some entity, possibly the red one, interfering? whatever this means, it's Probably Something!

item 2: visual parallels

i won't do a comprehensive breakdown of the shot remakes from yellow zone to blue lies. rewatch them yourself, you'll see how many visual callbacks there are right away. i just wanted to draw attention to one in particular:

yellow zone on the left and blue lies on the right. i thought this was an interesting shot to repeat considering it was a pretty significant moment in yellow zone. it's the moment of stanley's first onscreen death, and as it happens he turns away from the exit (i think from the force of the pipe piercing him) and sees the window to the control room.

this is presumably what plants the idea to turn around in his next run and approach the control room instead of the exit. possibly he never even knew about the control room until this moment. repeating this framing with the exit (and you can see the door is ajar!) is a really interesting choice.

item 3: death wounds

whenever stanley wakes, he instinctively clutches at the location of the (now nonexistent) wound that killed him.

he does it with his death in blank decay too, meaning stanley's experience of the reset picks up right from the moment of his death, even though the moment of his death was not the moment of reset.

this introduces some ambiguity about whether those previous deaths were as synonymous with resets as we were led to believe. who knows; maybe the reset only seemed instantaneous because we were watching stanley's perspective, and that's the way he experiences deaths.

and finally:

item 4: that's a dangan ronpa reference lol

im pretty sure the framing of stanley's dead body near the end of blank decay is a reference to the mini cutscenes when a body is discovered in dangan ronpa. the shaky cam switching to highlight different parts of the body, the shadows, the eerily pink blood. it's dangan ronpa. if you're familiar with it then you know what i mean.

it might be a coincidence but i don't really think so. it's pretty striking. anyway, i just wanted to point that out because i thought it was funny.

How did you get into Fire Emblem? I bought Awakening because a friend of mine (N) liked it so much, and then I didn’t play it for almost a whole year after that! But I decided to try it out while I was on a road trip and quickly became obsessed.

6. A female character who got done dirty by the narrative?

So tbh, I actually barely remember how DR3 actually went, but my gut tells me Chiaki got done super super dirty in DR3 (but DR3 was quite a mess as an anime iirc)

I guess now that I think of it maybe it wasn't as bad as I thought, but the DR3 Despair Side was very heavily fanservicey that I had a hard time stomaching it, so when it came time for Chiaki's death scene, it came off more as torture porn than anything. And they did just torture this girl for a whole episode before she dies and that was just AWFUL to sit and watch

The only reason why I say it wasn't as bad as I thought is more because I think like. narratively speaking, Chiaki does wind up being a little NPC within the recovery game that the rest of her class gets put in after they become the Ultimate Despair, and I like that in a way she continues to live on with them as "someone that they all treasured".

...OH Okay so I think I remembered what happened. So the villain of the entire game series decides to use Chiaki and torture her live on camera and that footage was used to drop everyone in her class into despair which led them to become the Ultimate Despair, but idk. It's Dangan Ronpa. It's never going to be super pretty or light and it's pretty 😬as a series, but it certainly was hard to stomach that's for certain --

hm... Ada Vessalius

THIS WAS ALSO NOT HER FAULT BTW I think when I was first reading Pandora Hearts, I was maybe like??? 12 ?? I thought she was such a crybaby without really understanding her feelings, but I think later down the line, when I came back and actually paid attention and read the manga, I actually really love Ada!! She's such a sweetheart and she has such funny moments (this sweet girl being into black magic after the disappearance of her older brother for 10 years).

She doesn't come to mind very much but alsdjfh I do love her character a lot haha

14. An interesting familial relationship with female characters? (Mother and daughter, sisters, etc.)

I don't have a photo for this but Hannah and Eve from the game "Her Story"! Their story is also the type that kinda haunts my brain from time to time, but they were separated at birth because the midwife lied that one of them died and stole Eve away. But the two wind up discovering each other and fucking around with the fact that they look similar.

But their story gets filled with jealousy because they had a rule that they both must be equal to one another, so when one person steps out of line, the other becomes angry and they were just terrible to each other.

It becomes the main source of conflict later when Hannah gets married to both of their childhood sweetheart Simon (because they would switch out during the date with the sweetheart >_>), and well. Simon had cheated with Eve and Eve got pregnant, so Hannah knew (somehow I forgot why. I think it was that she had suspicion for a while because Simon and Eve were seeing each other a few times after Simon and Hannah had a big fight), and well. Murder happens.

But the twins wind up helping each other to clear up the murder or be each other's alibi and just 😬How far an obligation of a sibling would go? Or that you're saving someone who makes up half your identity? Selfish? Selfless? idk It's a fun story and honestly I'm not doing this justice. This story is just better experienced firsthand

“Are you done yet?” Ouma whines childishly, swinging his legs back and forth from where he’s sitting.

“Quit your whining, I’ve almost got it,” Miu grumbles. She pulls at a wire on the back of Kiibo’s neck plate before abruptly changing her mind and grabbing a screwdriver instead to loosen something.

“But Iruma-chan is going sooooo slow!” Ouma complains. Miu flips him off, an action which Ouma returns in kind.

Kiibo beams. He’s so happy that his friends are getting along with each other!

“I still don’t get the point of this,” Saihara interjects. “Right now, Kiibo-kun does everything we say, why undo that?”

Ouma sighs dramatically. “Kiiboy’s so boring now! The emotion blockers Iruma-chan put in keep him from being interesting!” He smirks. “So this is just for fun!”

Momota snorts. “Of course you would think this is fun.”

“Well, I’m sorry you have a terrible sense of humor,” Ouma snarks back.

“Everyone, shut up, I’ve almost got it,” Miu orders, having returned to adjusting the wires at Kiibo’s neck.

“I believe in you, Miu!” Akamatsu cheers from her position draped across Harukawa, who bears it with an expression of complete stoicism.

“I don’t!” Ouma chimes in cheerfully, prompting an indignant “Oi!” from Miu.

“One last touch…” Miu mutters. There’s a slight jolt as she clicks something into place, then a larger one as she yanks a wire out. “Got it!”

There’s nothing for a second, before something clicks.

Images pour into Kiibo’s mind immediately in a dizzying whirl. Momota and Saihara laughing as they burn a building to the ground. Shirogane infiltrating the Future Foundation, sabotaging their efforts from the inside.

What…

Harukawa fully embracing her assassin side, killing people mercilessly left, right and centre. Chabashira becoming so infatuated with Enoshima that she starts to push everyone away, completely blind to the monster Enoshima really is. Yonaga spreading her new ‘religion’, desecrating locations worldwide and bringing despair everywhere she goes.

Why didn’t I stop this?...

Akamatsu weaving beautiful, horrifying pieces of music, plunging anyone who hears it into mind-numbing despair and smiling. Gonta, the gentle giant, abandoning all his values and dreams of being a gentleman, descending into being completely feral. Shinguji sobbing as his beloved artefacts are mercilessly destroyed, despite his attempts to save them.

No…

Ouma brutally slaughtering DICE, his closest friends as tears run down his face and he laughs in ecstasy. Miu herself, constructing machines that bring destruction to the world, the complete opposite of her goals. Tojo, snapping under the constant pressure and deciding to take control of everyone in order to fulfil people’s wishes.

Stop it…

Everyone else. Yumeno, Hoshi, Amami Kamukura- and Kiibo. Standing and watching as the world burns. As his friends carry out these atrocious acts. Smiling. Encouraging them. Doing nothing to stop them.

Stop it!

“Stop it!” he screams, completely overwhelmed by the rush of emotions. “Stop it stop it stop it…” he dies off to a whimper, clutching his head in pain.

“So, Kiiboy! How’re you feeling?~” Ouma sing-songs. When Kiibo looks back at him, he’s grinning madly, eyes alight with something psychotic.

(He can only think of how Ouma screamed and wailed and sobbed as he killed DICE, his friends, his family in all but blood, yet had kept on at it, smiling through his tears. How broken he had looked afterwards, blood staining his clothes and dripping down his body.)

The feeling gets worse as he looks at the rest of them, flowing through his insides like poison. Of how broken all of them look, hollow shells filled with despair, eyes swirling but empty at the same time-

Kiibo whirls to face Miu, holding onto her desperately as he begs, “Put it back! Please, Miu, just- whatever it was, put it back please!”

He squeezes his eyes shut, unable to bear the sight of all his friends with their red, swirling eyes. He thinks he hears Ouma, Saihara and…Momota, maybe? All laughing as they watch his breakdown.

“Please…It’s too much- I…I can’t-” he manages to gasp out. His circuitry is going haywire with the sheer amount of emotions pouring into him, not meant to withstand this many. And maybe it’s selfish, to want to get rid of these feelings, when he should be trying to stop them - his friends - from doing all these awful deeds.

A small part of his brain is screaming at him to activate his rocket boosters and fly away, find the Future Foundation and help them to fight against the Remnants.

But Kiibo was designed to mimic human traits as closely as possible, and thus he is flawed and imperfect and selfish, and he just wants these feelings to go away-

“Aw, not so easy with a conscience, is it?” Miu coos, wrapping her arms around him. “Don’t worry, baby, I’ll fix you up again in a sec.”

“Little baby Kiiboy can’t handle all these emotions?~” Ouma giggles, leaning into his space. “Can’t handle knowing that you were the cause of so much destruction?”

“S-Stay away from me!”

From behind, Akamatsu pouts. “That’s not very nice, Kiibo-kun. Aren’t we friends?”

“Yeah! We’re all on the same team!” Momota chimes in, slinging an arm around Harukawa, who leans into his touch. The assassin doesn’t add on, but her eyes lock on to Kiibo’s, sending a chill up his spine.

“Working towards the same goals, right?” Ouma moves back slightly, letting Saihara approach from the other side.

“You’ve got as much blood on your hands as we do!” Saihara chirps, his normally kind eyes containing nothing but cruel amusement.

“N-No, I-” Kiibo glances down at his hands in distress.

(The worst part is, they’re not lying. Blood drips through his fingers, staining his metal red. Waterfalls of it pool at his feet, thick and cloying. When he closes his eyes, it’s all he can see.

Everywhere.)

“Don’t be so modest, baby, we both know how good you are with your hands~” Miu purrs, grabbing his face gently in her hands.

“Please,” he whispers. “Please just put it back.”

Miu sighs loudly. “And after all the time I spent taking it out. Fine, only for you, baby.”

As she guides him away, Kiibo hears Ouma giggle, “Well, he hates us and himself now! I’d consider that a win.”

“Yeah, that was fun,” Saihara agrees.

“Kaito, if we don’t get out of here in the next one minute, I’m going to slaughter that rat.”

“Gotcha, babe!”

uhh including WIPs right now im mostly writing for stranger things, which got the most fics in progress, but also legend of zelda (botw/totk specifically), jak and daxter, dangan ronpa (mainly dr1 and nvdr3)

hm well for completed ones id have to say 'i'm supposed to take care of you', but including planned wips i dont know whether 'all these shadows' or 'wavelength' has more angst. theres also an ndrv3 fic in the works thats pretty downer

i think Moonlight is pretty hopeful!

nah, usually me and my writing keep to ourselves

hmmm well. little red carp was a fun fic to write but i dont see myself getting interested in it again

people tell me im very good at character voices and personality! which i appreciate! im also good at visualizing my stories and writing action scenes!

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

planning! im always getting tripped up by how to get from point a to point b and i always get stuck with the details! its the worst!

but i cant exactly pants a story either bc im always thinking "oh what if i take the story THIS direction" and then i end up having to go back and rewrite a lot of sections

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language?

writing in spanish is veeery weird compared to writing in english. i cant get the grammar to cooperate with me as much, and it always makes me feel like a kindergartner trying to use words they just learned to cobble together their first story

i usually try not to bother translating for languages i don't know. or do some research first. mostly i rely on either not giving context or just writing what theyre really saying "in italics like this"

uhhh. balto i think. as in the 1995 animated film balto. i was obsessed with that film

20. Favorite fic you’ve ever written?

i think wavelength! just because of how much fun i am having thinking of the dynamics and Plot Things that are going to happen. a lot of it is a mishmash of what-ifs? and things i thought were going to happen in stranger things itself but didnt

there should be a word for this level of dedication to bits that ""humour"" is derived from the perceived weirdness of the bit. like this dude doesn't actually care for Maizono. that's just not actually what this is about. I emberassingly dedicated myself to role-playing as a DR character for most of my middle school life, i can say with full confidence that there simply isn't enough to Maizonos character to "love". shes literally the first to die in game about murder mysteries. he doesn't actually love her, or care about her, at least any more than any other fictional character (with more screentime) that he enjoys. he chose her, likely at least partially on a whim, to ride or die for the spectacle of it.

and like, that's what this is for. it's for the spectacle. if you actually loved an anime character, if you actually enjoyed her writing and her personality and daydreamed all the time about getting to meet her and date her, you wouldnt act like this. because if you did for even a minute youd realizd that taping her face to a printer would make her like you less. so your not doing it "for her". if forced to switch into a new life where he could never publicly display "affection" for her, he'd forget about her within a week, likely just doing the exact same thing with a different anime girl. 99% of the reason he does any of the this is because he enjoys the feeling he gets when someone perceives him as odd for doing it. and like, yeah duh, everyone's like that at least a little. but when it gets to the point that your spending hundreds and hundreds of dollars just to continue to one up your "weirdness", it's too late. because now every dollar spent, every picture taped up to the wall, every foot of cardboard is now a raw number that you can keep track of your "dedication". it's like a cookie clicker effect on your brain, everytime the number goes up you get some enjoyment out of it, but eventually that enjoyment dwindles until you get a REALLY big poster and that makes it go up again, so on and so on.

so you pick a bare bones character to publicly go crazy for and never actually care for her. going back to what I said about her barely having any story/character, that probably helps the perceived spectacle of it all in his eyes. like there are genuinely interesting characters in dangan ronpa, ones with unique and interesting stories, characters whose actions are compelling and make for a good story. there are fans of Komaeda who could write real, not a meme essays about him and his character. but if this tiktok dude picked an actually interesting character, he'd be in trouble. his image wouldn't be maintainable. him printing 100 pictures would be put next to someone who could actually discuss and analyze their fav for hours and then the jig would be up, people would recognize the other person as "the bigger fan" and he wouldn't get the bordering-on-an-exhibitionism-fetish rush that he does now.

so, like, sure. I hope this guy gets a kick outta the attention. i hope people follow him on tiktok and he keeps spending 100 dollars on shit that doesn't make him happy. and then when the attention dwindles, when he runs out of people to flaunt his ugly fucking house to like a MLM runs out of idiots to sell to, I hope he realizes how stupid it was. i hope he sits around for months, no longer posting photos of his printers and no longer buying new cutouts, but doesn't take the old ones down. because taking then down is admitting the bit was never that funny, was never worth the cost. and then I hope he finally does decide to actually throw it all out. take down the shitty tape on his walls and just get rid of it. I hope he has to awkwardly avoid the topic around his friends cause he knows they'll tease him about it, know they'll remind him of buying a useless cardboard cutout for hundreds of dollars for a character he doesn't like. and then I hope enough time passes that all of it is truly behind him and all that's left is a mild regret. or none of that could happen, I don't really care except I do know for sure he's going to hell when he dies.

It’s really interesting that Medaka Box hit me just too early for me to draw fanart of it and Undead Unluck hit me just too late

I’ve literally drawn TWO pieces of Medaka Box fanart, and one was mostly meant as Pokemon fanart and the other was a birthday present for a friend

My fanart is almost entirely Pokemon, either doing various 30-day challenges, Fakemon, or drawing characters I like with Pokemon that remind me of them

Of those, I’ve done Tsurubami from Medaka Box with Cubone, Faust and Eliza from Shaman King with Alolan Marowak, Junko and Mukuro from Dangan Ronpa with Midday and Midnight Lycanroc, Palm from HxH with Mareanie and Toxapex, Emerald from RWBY with Salazzle, Let from Rave Master with Kommo-o, Uranus from Psyren with Alolan Sandslash, and for some reason Kakine with an entire Bug team! I don’t even like Kakine that much, why is he the one I gave a full team of six??? Oh, and Monet with Rowlet. Obviously

Practically everything else is Monet, but aside from her I’ve done a two Wario Land pieces, three Kirby pieces (one was a present), a fan Robot Master from Megaman, Peridot from Steven Universe cus I had art block, one Godzilland piece, a Smash moveset for Qbby from BoxBoy, a hypothetical design for the Duck Hunter from Smash, a Hero Academy OC, two Shaman King OCs, and various gifts including Ivankov from One Piece, Hisoka from HxH, Tsuyu from Hero Academy, and Shiro from Voltron

Looking over it, the spread is definitely way more than varied than I thought, but a lot of that variety was because I wanted an excuse to draw more Pokemon

If Medaka Box had still been going at the time or Undead Unluck had started earlier, there’s a good chance they both would have been consistent inspiration to me independent of Pokemon, just like Monet

I find it so hard to get myself to do art, and I was kind of hoping that my little bet about Monet would turn out...differently so that I wouldn’t have a choice but to force myself to do it. Maybe if my life goes in a bit of a more relaxed direction soon I’ll be able to find the inspiration to fill this void

Maybe I’ll get back to it with Undead Unluck Pokemon pieces, then transition to just UU

Don’t get your hopes up, but I’d sure love to see Isshin making an unbreakable hammer for Tinkaton

damn you're gonna make me go back in time huh. okay. the problem with all of these is i try not to think about dangan ronpa lately lmao cause I don't like who I was back then even if I still have some affection for the series. also because ship is a vague word i've limited it to "dynamics i would/have consumed/made content for"
