onigiriforears here!! i believe in you! 💪 i know that reading in the target language feels so hard at first. take the challenge as quickly or as slowly as you'd like. (i'm going to be reading a manga series for my "complete a series" section lmao and that'll probably take me a bit.) i try to have something fun to read on the side alongside a main read. I'm using that manga as a light read in between other reads. (also--do you read manhwa? come scream with me about your fave series)

As much as I dread my tutor meetings each week, I have to recognize that they’ve helped me sooo much lmaoo, and they give me a good way to see how much I’ve progressed. I started them last summer (required by my major) and it had been a LONG time since I’d spoken Korean, so I was really rough and struggled to understand a lot of what my tutor asked me. It felt like the 50 minutes dragged on for hours ㅠㅠ

But after just finishing a tutor meeting, it hit me how smoothly I’m able to talk with my tutor about so many topics now!!! And I can confidently understand almost 100% of what she says even though she speaks quickly, and I just have to confirm a word or two every once and a while. Listening is by far my worst skill and I’ve recently felt like it’s barely improving, but now I know that’s wrong!! Between my last semester tutor and my one now, I’ve been able to discuss politics and economy and representation in TV and reunification and all these topics that would have terrified me last summer. I know this is also because of the other classes I’ve been taking but idc I’m letting myself be proud tonight ㅎㅎㅎ

Why am I so guilty about the most insignificant ass things???? Like, I stay up 10 minutes past my arbitrarily allotted bed time to finish an episode? BAM I’m a horrible person. And especially with money, I spend literally any amount of money at all to buy something for myself that I need to live and/or be happy (like yarn or……food) BAM TERRIBLE I don’t need that why am I alive. Like I value my life based on how many days/weeks I can go without putting a charge on my debit card and convinced myself that living on protein bars and free cafeteria food is a good way to live lmao

#perhaps I need a therapist #but that would cost money which I am not allowed to spend according to my brain #it’s like the opposite of a shopping addiction #where I just have no things #when my friends ask I just say I’m a minimalist 🤪 #obellaciaodiary

I’ve only been to 3/5 classes that I’m taking in Korean this semester and it’s already so…much……reading……… and I accidentally signed up for 3 writing intensive classes which will probably drive me batshit insane. Hopefully this hellish semester + saying goodbye to my free time to study will result in a big jump in my Korean abilities, that’s all I’m asking for at this point 😭

#PLUS I’m an RA too which is so time consuming #I’ve only been holding it together because I have a consistent sleep schedule #but that’s soon to go out the window too #crying hoping begging my meds keep me stable enough to not fling myself off the roof #3 days in and I’m already spiraling nooooo hahaha #obellaciaodiary

Idk how far you are with Haikyuu, but what character do you like most rn? Personally I like Yamaguchi best :)

Hinata and Bokuto are definitely my favs!!! Insane+sunshine characters are the best hehe (Tendou also gets an honorable mention here)

My sister’s only gotten to episode 14 but so far she says she likes Kageyama and Kenma the best, I guess she has a type too lmao
