Brown University students are launching an indefinite hunger strike for Palestine

they are asking for their university to divest from companies profiting from the genocide in gaza and openly call for a ceasefire and will not eat until the university governing bodies hears and considers a divestment resolution. if you are not familiar with the physical toll a hunger strike takes on the body, it might be worth looking up to get a better sense of what a significant action these students are taking. the university's highest governing body is having their first meeting of 2024 on february 8-9th so let's rally around them to muster even more pressure on brown university.

Ok so i was listening to the tornado by owl city and thought of this

Portals to the realms should never be opened long for if they are the area around them gets corrupted a filled with ectoplasm burnt up from sustaining the Portal now the Fenton Portal has had this happen but it was unnoticeable due to danny cleaning the ecto filter

But slowly a pool of corrupted ectoplasm was building under the town of amity and oneday after yet another fight with one of his rouges it starts swirling now amitys natural ghostly ness has kept it contained within it's boarders

But the amount of "lazerus waters" here is enough to fully consume the city above it and it's started swirling growing up to encase the city above it

Far away from amity in the watch tower john constantine had called a meeting about a small town in illinois due to rising death energies there due to this they think that the ghost king is attempting to use a herald to summon him to this relam to reak havoc

So they go to try stop it and reach there in time to see a swirling green forcefield of sorts coming the town upon closer inspection they see a teen with snow white hair stinking of death magic with his hands in the force field john saus that must be the herald of the ghost king so superman flies to pull him away from the swirling green field

Danny on the other had is panicking his family his fright his people and his haunt are all in there he has to stop it he has to and now some asshole in blue is telling him to stop this? Oh hell no he'll save what's his thank you very much

While I do like the Eldritch MK theory, someone suggested that instead of being the reincarnation of a past enemy, MK is instead a sacrificial lamb for an enemy to come back (with him being referred to as harbinger).

Which raises a whole other question of who he is meant to be a sacrifice for.

Baby MK overall gives off the kind of vibes where he was created to be destroyed, doesn't he? I mean, why else create a "simple creature, with no past, no family, and no name". If something was just born (from a stone or not) of course it doesn't have any of those things—why specify it? You would only specify a detail like that if it was significant to why MK was created in the first place.

Which, this thought is not exclusive to Eldritch Abomination MK or to Harbinger MK, overall that feels like the implication. MK was made to be sacrificed in one way or another, whether that's to stop a past enemy, a returning one, or some other thing.

So, with MK being a sacrifice to chaos, I'm wondering why he would be given so much power. *throws dart at my idea board* Maybe he was made as some sort of ticking time bomb, created to destroy himself plus whatever threat he was meant to be a sacrifice for. *throws another dart* Or, perhaps he was created to be able to go toe to toe with whatever ends up being the embodiment of chaos!

Just to throw another dart at the wall: maybe MK was made as a counter measure to chaos itself! "There's a reason you were at the center of all these stories", that reason being to maintain balance and prevent the end of the world (of which he's done like, 4 times over now). "You don't use a weapon...you ARE a weapon!" aka MK is the ultimate weapon against literally any big bad.

Of course I'm partial to my own theory, but this is definitely a neat idea!

Do you have any idea if the light that provides a day/night cycle in Sigil counts as sunlight for the purposes of vampires? Because you mentioned in one post that the Dark Urge's only hope is fleeing to Sigil, and I was wondering if Astarion might also like to move there.

I mean it's not Durge's only hope, it's just probably the safest option... or they could deliberately piss off the Lady and get totally obliterated from existence, that sure solves the Bhaal problem.

I think I remember this kind of topic starting arguments. I've never seen an official answer for this and don't know how the issue has been handled with vampire characters in previous supplements, but I do know that, according to official rules from on high, exact wording of the RAW is important when it comes to vampiric weaknesses. For example, taking from a conversation with Jeremy Crawford about the viability of killing a vampire using a water elemental:

Harmed by Running Water. The vampire takes 20 acid damage when it ends its turn in running water. - Monster Manual (5e)

'What if a Water Elemental uses its move to repeatedly go through the Vampires space?' 'A water elemental is a creature, not a body of running water (a stream, a river, a waterfall, or the like).' 'But an elemental that is made of water, and runs, would that not be a running body of water? ' 'It would, indeed. Running body of water =/= body of running water.'

So following the spirit of the logic from that baffling conversation; according to the RAW, the daylight in the City of Doors shouldn't bother vampires because the vampiric weakness, in exact words, says 'in sunlight.'

Sunlight Hypersensitivity. The vampire takes 20 radiant damage when it starts its turn in sunlight. While in sunlight, it has a disadvantage on attack rolls and ability checks. - Monster Manual (5e)

And Sigil and the Outlands specifically says that the light, in exact words, 'isn't sunlight.'

Day and Night. Sigil observes a 24-hour day-night cycle. The sky gradually fills with luminescence during the day and fades into deep darkness as night. This light isn't sunlight. - Sigil and the Outlands

And even if they are bothered by the light, Sigil is a pretty good place to unlive and, boasting markets and stores that brings in goods, gossip and residents from all over existence, isn't a bad place to go looking for things that can cure you or let you walk in sunlight or whatever. Considering one of the factions and the undertaker industry is undead, there are probably businesses that cater to them and their needs. It's the most cosmopolitan place in existence, and the undead are legal citizens (although, if the lore from the Libris Mortis holds, you might need a license for feeding and agree to follow restrictions about not murdering people). For a guy whose idea of a good time involves the city life full of shenanigans, intrigue, danger, violence and etc, Sigil's a pretty good place to be if you don't get killed pissing off somebody powerful or fall into a puddle that's actually a portal to the paraelemental plane of ooze or something.

WIP its-not-Wednesday-but-close-enough

tagged by @autistic-sidestep! thank you for the tag :D i have,,, so many wips rn. pulp stop starting a million projects challenge. all of these are very rough, and a lot of them feature other steps, but i wanted to share a few :]

for writing, ive got these:

“What the hell, man!” Mitchel hisses. He’s let go, but he hasn’t bothered lowering his voice. Too loud, but real. Caine groans, pulling themselves up from the mattress. At least it wasn’t the floor– this could’ve hurt a lot worse. They wince at the throb in their shoulder as they reach for the wall, probing for a light switch. When he flicks it on reality re-establishes itself once more.  It’s Caine’s room, familiarly bare-bones. There’s only a singular twin sized bed in one corner of the room and a desk just across, with a heap of laundry they haven’t bothered to do taking up the chair. Mitchel stands on the mattress in the middle, both parts pissed and bleary eyed. His cheek is a lightish colour that’s a telltale sign it’s going to bruise, and a portion of his blanket stubbornly clings onto his shoulder. There’s no threat in here, or at least nothing more threatening than Mitchel annoyed. The knowledge doesn’t stop the blood pounding in their ears.

Marshal Steel has hair stuck in his finger joints. That's the first thing Daniel noticed when he came in to work this morning. Steel has his civilian hands on, which is normal when he has admin work. Those civilian hands will usually have hair in it too, mostly from Spoon. That's also normal. What's not normal is the colour; because instead of the odd tufts of grey fur Daniel's used to seeing scattering Steel's joints, this is a single, longer strand that he's sure wasn't left on purpose. Because the hair strand is brown. Suspiciously similar to Ortega's own brown hair.

-herald is suspicious that his boss is having another secret relationship with a pretty old man, but its none of his business! not at all. thats why hes eavesdropping on them from the breakroom pantry.

“What are you two talking about?” Ortega jerks, nearly spilling coffee all over Wei, tearing a curse out of him as he yanks his head to the direction of the voice.  Speak of the devil. Caine glances between the two, head cocked. When did he get here? Ortega doesn't remember inviting him, and nobody told him he was coming either. Not that Ortega isn't happy to see him, but the timing… “Dios mio, Spot, how long have you been standing there?” he mutters. He gives his coffee a once over, but nothing's spilled.  He turns back to Caine and double takes. The poor guy looks like he's just run a marathon– he's drenched in his own sweat. He's not wearing his raggedy sweater, for once. Instead, he's got a skintight suit with a simple white tee over it.

-a multi-pov fic featuring the same conversation, but told from the perspective of ortega, chen, and caine. trying to practice voices with it, and so far its been fun digging into each of them!
