"Cave Johnson here. Just figured I'd update y'all on my newest personal project: Wirewolves! Werewolves, but electronic. Basically we took the DNA of our wolf-men and injected it into the wires in some wolf-like robotic bodies. Turns out? Bad idea. In a few hours a dozen bloodthirsty and vengeful wirewolves were swarming outside my office making a bigger fuss than those OSHA enforcers that like to pester us. In a 'shocking' turn of events *chuckles*, Caroline took care of 'em all. Took off those pretty high heels of hers and used 'em to impale those pesky wirewolves right through the head. I'm safe, my office isn't messed up, less than twenty people died, and cold water'll take care of the blood that got on Caroline's dress in no time. We're moving that test to a more highly-regulated area. We're on to something! Cave Johnson out!"

How does chell survive the fall into old aperture when she hits a bunch of planks on the way down and (seemingly?) blacks out before reaching the bottom? Also how does potat0s not just, get mashed either

I mean she was falling at terminal velocity for a good while there, the Long Fall Boots are great at protecting her from breaking her legs but not exactly the tool to prevent all the blood from rushing into her head.

The potato that makes up PotatOS though, that shit gotta be petrified as hell, tougher than a mfing rock, it old as FUCK.

Day 1: Portal or Portal 2?

I honestly like both, but I love Portal 2’s Old Aperture levels. My brain resides there with all the asbestos and dilapidated test tracks. I can’t get enough of the old office areas either. I love that we get a little extra lore from Portal 2, which also introduced me to Cave Johnson and Caroline, who I think about 24/7. They have an office in my head now.

I do think that for better or for worse every relationship in media has been held up to the gold standard that is chelldos in my head. Portal series really just hit it out of the park with that one. Glados being so incredibly devoted and obsessive towards chell in her own toxic way that she does not want other test subjects that would make her job easier (like the co-op robots) she wants the one that challenges her and bested her. It’s hatred. it’s love. She continually tries to banter with and insult a woman who literally will not respond to her. She tries to kill chell several times. The first selfless act glados ever does is let chell leave. To the tune of a choir singing. She pulls chell back in from space and waits for her to wake up. And she gives chell the companion cube back. A piece of aperture yes but also a piece of her heart. They make me so insane. Incredibly accurate to the lesbian experience.

#chell is harder to say anything abt by virtue of being a silent protagonist #but I would like to say: she didn’t need to take glados with her through the old aperture area #& also did not need to put her back in charge. she could have just done a portal 1 move and killed wheatley and left no one in charge. #kinda. glados did need to fix everything. but. u know. #glados… woman liker. i know what u are. Caroline as well but we’re not ready for that conversation.
