Favourite part of the game is the Hunter's Nightmare, it's such incredible storytelling. The desolate desert feeling, husks of Amygdala and Cathedral Ward lining the windowsills of this other realm like dead insects. The fact that beasts put their hands up in terror when you approach because you are one of them. These Hunters didn't get to die as animals, because that would be a kinder rite for them. Rife with the parasitic sins of the Hunt and the stench of blood is the only thing they breath as they wander endlessly. MORE BLOOD!

I guess those drawings could be a following of the little oneshot i written a while ago. In one of my story, Gehrman gift the hair ornament to Maria a few years after the fishing hamlet « incident »

The other day i wonder which other characters would still be around at this moment. Would they knew about it? How would they react ? 👀

best part in bloodborne was definitely when i killed one of the giant murderfish dudes at the bottom of the shitpit in that quaint little fishing village, only to get fucking powerbombed twelve times in a row by the second, hidden one while all the depressed fishermen watched from above and cheered

Old Hunters tended to amputate

JUST payed attention at how the hunters in wheelchair appear to have removed fingers.

Overall I suspect that the more desperate ones tend to remove the limbs that start to show beastly features; in this case, maybe their fingers started to grow claws! And I fully believe that Gehrman is missing his right leg for the same reason, and hence is the superstition amongst Old Hunters:

At this rate, Djura's missing eye might have been a self-inflicted trauma, or maybe someone injured him like that who was REALLY upset at some sign of beasthood in him? Djura has pure white (not pale blue or grey) eyes, that seems to match with what we see of huntsmen eyes:

Ludwig and Black Church hunter in Nightmare Frontier likewise got one eye blinded (and the latter also has pure white eyes like Djura)! So like, maybe they additionally could remove an eye that became blind first, as it was an indication of mutating closer to how beasts' eyes work!

It is up in the air how many hunters that have bandages over their eyes are simply blind by now (and find their way with beastly supersmell and superhearing...?), and how many only cover their eyes (maybe to conceal signs of beasthood?). I for example can imagine Gascoigne simply trying to hide his state because he's stubborn enough to keep hunting no matter what. But yeah, I totally think amputating their limbs, fingers and eyes used to be a desperate attempt of slowing down the beasthood.

(I don't know which would be more grim - if Gehrman removed his own leg, or if he had to ask Laurence or Maria to do that... well, at least pyromancy would help to instantly burn the wound and prevent massive blood loss I guess... And if Djura removed his own eye, or if Henryk slashed it with his knife in fit of rage and panic since Djura's scar does look like it could've been a knife slash...)

I just beat the Amygdala in the Nightmare Frontier and it was the single most stressful fight of my life. Not because of the difficulty, but because I was already low on health potions just getting to the thing. Do think it’s pretty neat how it’s named after the part of the brain that produces the hormones that cause fear.

Gonna go for broke and try give Old Hunters DLC a shot. I’m really interested in the lore and I think there’s gonna be a lot there.
