hi writeblr!! it's nice to meet you!!
I’ve had this blog for years but never posted anything bc to be honest I was a little afraid of tumblr when I first joined, but recently I decided that since I like talking about my wips so much to my friends/family irl, why not blog about them? I also want to find some writing mutuals, since I like hearing about people’s stories just as much as I like telling them about mine. Feel free to interact, follow, message, etc. I love making friends :D
About me <3
My name is Allie, but I go by Blue or BlueIndigo online. Feel free to use any of those :)
My pronouns are she/her
I’m 19, which also happens to be my favorite number :)
I have five wips, 96 characters (about half of which with a birthday I celebrate like it were my own), and yet very few words actually written (some words plotted though. look at me go!)
I'm kinda in between fandoms at the moment, however I want to start watching Criminal Minds bc I've never seen it and I have a feeling I'm gonna get sucked into the fandom immediately lol
I am a MASSIVE swiftie (favorite album is 1989 TV), and I listen to a lot of 5SOS, Olivia Rodrigo, Conan Gray, and Harry Styles
I love reading !! My favorite author is Taylor Jenkins Reid & favorite books are Malibu Rising, Carrie Soto Is Back, and Daisy Jones & The Six.
I play ukulele, and I've written a handful of songs for one of my wips (more on that later)
I use these emoticons :) :D <3 in practically every sentence
I have a thing where my wip titles have to make good acronyms or I don’t use them. idk why either.
I love talking about my WIPs to the point of annoyance.
Speaking of talking, #blueindigo says things for non-wip related stuff <3
I like to write…
Realistic fiction
Contemporary fiction
Young adult/new adult
Coming of age
Romance
LGBTQ+ characters
Found family
pretty much just people being people :)
More about my wips below !!

Never Have We Ever (NHWE)
Tags: #wip: never have we ever #wip: NHWE
Summary: Liz has the best friends a girl could ask for. Harley, Mikey, and Natasha have been her people since elementary school, and Trevor and Amanda since middle school. Their whole lives, things have been pretty much the same. Same kids in their classes every year. Same streets between the same houses. Same, same, same. At the end of her freshman year of high school, just about when Liz is wondering how much same she could possibly handle, she catches Trevor’s eye as he laughs at someone’s joke, and something deep inside her lights up. Something she doesn’t know what to do with. Something she can't push back down once it comes barreling up to the surface. So much for same. After that, things can’t stop changing. And not just in her own life—her friend group starts pulling apart at the seams. Harley begins withdrawing from everyone with no explanation. Mikey gets in bigger trouble with his dad than ever. Natasha only has a year before she has to move off to college. Amanda accidentally reveals a secret no one was ever meant to know. At least Trevor seems to have gotten off easy. In this collection of short stories, Liz has to wonder if the change of pace she thought she wanted is worth it. Sometimes it’s hard to be brave, and she’s never been the most open to change, but unfortunately, that does not stop it from happening. The only question is: what is she going to do about it?
Genres: short stories, realistic fiction, young adult, coming of age, contemporary Themes: found family, first crushes, dealing with change, growing up, maintaining friendships Characters: Liz Stanton 🩵, Harley Wilson 💚, Mikey Miller 💛, Natasha Knightley 💜, Trevor Marshall ❤️, Amanda Hamilton 🩷
NHWE is my oldest WIP, started on December 16, 2019. It’s been on ice lately, since the plot has gone through so many changes that I haven’t known what to do with it in a while, but one of my goals with posting about it is to warm myself back up to it. I think writing that summary was a good place to start. Wish me luck :D
The Together List (TTL)
Tags: #wip: the together list #wip: TTL
Summary: Audrey is in her first month of college. Within three weeks, she’s moved out of her childhood bedroom and into a room with a window that seems to open on its own and a door that creaks loud enough to wake up the whole floor, she’s stumbled into a friend group that seemed to pull itself together like drawstrings, and she’s gotten a job at an adorable independent milkshake shop with her roommate and one of her new friends. What more could she possibly ask for? The world, it seems. Audrey has a list ten miles long of all the little things she wants college to be. One night, she starts listing them out loud. Her friends—Logan, Lennon, McKinley, Aspen, and Levi—chime in with their own after a moment, and before anyone knows it it’s been three hours and they haven’t stopped. They aren’t even sure whose idea it is, but they start writing it down. Every box on this ridiculously decorated list will be checked off by the end of the year, they swear. Someone makes an Instagram account as a joke, but by the first post it’s become as serious an endeavor as they’ve ever had. They wouldn’t call themselves local celebrities, but they certainly wouldn’t correct you if you did. The thing about fame at this age, even at small amounts, is that it's bound to go to someone's head...
Genres: realistic fiction, young adult fiction, new adult fiction, coming of age, LGBTQ+ fiction Themes: LGBTQ+, friendships, fame, college, becoming an adult, relationships Characters: Audrey Marshall 💙, Logan Levine 🧡, Lennon Adler 💛, McKinley March 💜, Aspen Brady ❤️, Levi Jackson 💚
TTL was created on August 18, 2021. I saw a post on Pinterest of someone's summer bucket list and that sounded like such a fun thing to do with friends that I had to write about it. Two and a half-ish years later, TTL has also gone through many changes, so I'm sort of trying to refresh it now. I'm very excited to see where it takes me!
(Fun fact: the main character, Audrey, is the older sister of Trevor from NHWE!)
The Violet Sisters Club (TVSC)
Tags: #wip: the violet sisters club #wip: TVSC
Summary: The Violet Sisters Club, a world famous all-female pop rock band, is facing a very public lawsuit from a former hotheaded manager over their most recent album. Following the conclusion of their case, lead singer Naomi Tyler, drummer Inez Wilde, guitarist Chrissy Cameron, and bassist Francesca Sheridan escape to the luxurious Overlook Estate, a privately owned rental property on an island off the southern coast of California. Here, they can spend the summer out of the public eye, writing songs they don’t need to worry about releasing and letting the public wonder what they’re up to as they let the tension out of their muscles. With a property twice the size of Alcatraz Island and a beach twice as long, the Overlook offers the band a respite from the go, go, go of touring, the privacy invasion of paparazzi, and the exhaustion of being micromanaged every minute of every day. Four pools, seven hot tubs, the aforementioned private beach, a high tech recording studio (just in case), a few golf carts just to get around the property and a Jeep to get to town. It’s unimaginably expensive, it’s incomprehensibly big, and it’s everything they need. But this escape may not be the relaxing California beach paradise they imagined. Soon, it becomes hard to hide how much the stress of fame was eating away at each of them—emotions run high, patiences run thin, days run long, nights run longer, and the strength of the band is questioned as the girls’ insecurities and anxieties bubble to the surface after a lifetime in the spotlight.
Genres: realistic fiction, contemporary fiction, literary fiction Themes: fame, music, romance, found family, secrets, breakups Characters: Naomi Tyler (lead singer, songwriter) 💜, Inez Wilde (drummer, vocalist, songwriter) 🩷, Chrissy Cameron (guitarist, vocalist, songwriter) 💙, Francesca Sheridan (bassist, vocalist, songwriter) 💚
TVSC was created on February 5, 2023, but the characters have been around almost as long as TTL. Initially, I created the Violet Sisters Club as a fictional band that would exist within The Together List, but at some point I couldn't get the idea of a TVSC-focused novel out of my head. I'm glad I never tried, because some of my favorite ideas I've ever had have gone into TVSC. If I could have one wish, it would be for all of TVSC's songs to be real so I could listen to them without having to write them first.
Now That We Don’t Talk (NTWDT)
Tags: #wip: now that we don’t talk #wip: NTWDT
Summary: There are two important things to know about Hazel Henry and Saiah Bradford.  One: They kinda-sorta hate each other after they broke up last year at prom. (The same prom that ended with the school almost burning down and Hazel's twin brother's best friend going to the hospital. Bad memories all around.) Two: Someone on the planning committee for their senior class trip must be out to get them, because when they arrive at the hotel, they find out they’ve been assigned to the same room. This should have been impossible; Saiah requested to be paired with her best friend, Tory, who's going to have some explaining to do later, and Hazel would bet her life on the fact that she requested a room alone. Now, for the next two weeks, they’re both stuck in the same narrow room with its little square bathroom and practically-nonexistent closet. The air conditioner turns on at random times, they seem to be paired together for every single scheduled activity, and perhaps worst of all—their friends all seem to find this situation absolutely hilarious.  But it’s just two weeks, right? It’ll be over before they know it, and soon they can both go back to pretending their relationship—and each other—never existed. Right? Right? Happy senior year to them.
Genres: realistic fiction, young adult fiction, contemporary fiction, LGBTQ+ fiction, romance Themes: reconciliation, romance, friendship, forgiveness, guilt, regrets, family, growing up Characters: Hazel Henry 🩷, Nick Henry 💙, Saiah Bradford 💚, Tory Whitehouse 💛
NTWDT was created on October 18, 2023. Hilariously, I came up with the plot after making Hazel and Saiah in the Sims, and I literally couldn't stop thinking about them whenever I wasn't playing. As I do with every character I create, I became obsessed with them, and now here we are. And in case you're wondering, yes, I named it after the Taylor Swift song lol.
Trouble In Paradise (TIP)
Tags: #wip: trouble in paradise #wip: TIP
Summary: Sixteen years ago, Joe Alexander and Ben King drove across the US in the pursuit of Joe's true love. Today, Joe is preparing to move out of his and his ex-wife's house and drive across the country once more, joined by his daughter, Bryce, and his best friend/his daughter's biological father, Ben. It's all familiar—the long stretches of empty fields, collapsing onto a cheap hotel bed for the night, never being able to decide where to stop for food—and yet, Joe has no idea what he's in for.  This is a story of two cross-country road trips, and the lives that one woman is able to ruin in between. Joe Alexander and Ben King have both lost their entire worlds to Lilly Alexander. But the ones they’ve gained after her might be—in some weird, unconventional way—a little better.
Genres: realistic fiction, contemporary fiction, adult fiction, literary fiction Themes: reconciliation, moving on, guilt, parenting, cheating, manipulation, mental illness, sexual abuse Characters: Joe Alexander, Ben King, Bryce Alexander, Lilly Alexander
TIP is technically my newest WIP, since I came up with the full plot just last month (February 13, 2024). I've had the vague idea of it for just over a year, but I didn't quite know what to do with it until recently. It's definitely more mature with its topics than my other wips (as you might be able to tell by the themes), but I really like the concept and I've had a lot of fun plotting it so far, even if it's a little out of my comfort zone.
(Fun fact: the original title way back when the characters didn't even have last names was High Infidelity, after the Taylor Swift song, since I thought it was so thematically appropriate.)
···
OKAY I'm pretty sure I have officially run out of things to say. If you made it all the way here, thank you so much for reading! Like I said earlier, feel free to interact any way you like :D
This post is sort of a masterpost for all my wips, but I'm also considering doing posts for each wip separately so I can go into more detail. That'll be later though.
Thanks again for reading, and have a good day/night !!

BB20: Wednesday 1 November
The day starts with some classic BB20 conflict resolution, with Dylan apologising to Trish and Noky for shouting at them.
Olivia really has shown growth in the house. She faced eviction, and her supposed friend Noky was involved in that decision - but Olivia's stoic and calm. Very different from when she was nominated by Jenkin on day 1.
Poor Jordan. He really needs space from Matty - this isn't a flirtation that's bringing him long-term joy. But stuck in the Big Brother house with nothing to do, it's really hard to stay away.
Nominations!
Henry nominates Dylan for being divisive and snappy, and Paul for being inconsiderate at bedtime.
Olivia nominates Trish for causing Olivia to face eviction yesterday, and Noky for being involved in the decision. Heartbreaking! Olivia and Noky were friends!
Noky nominates Paul - he accused her of being fake - and Dylan. She found his behaviour unacceptable, regardless of later apology.
Chanelle nominates Dylan and Trish for creating an unpleasant situation that made the house feel divided.
Matty nominates Olivia for being annoying and loud, and Dylan for accusing Trish and Noky of black-on-black crime.
Jenkin nominates Dylan for shouting at Trish, and Noky for being a game-player.
Yinrun nominates Dylan for losing his temper, and Paul for OTT and offensive jokes and pranks.
Dylan nominates Trish and Noky for having a problem with him that they won't be open about.
Paul nominates Trish for being a gameplayer, and Noky for talking about his personal life behind his back (and not being her Authentic Genuine Self).
Jordan nominates Jenkin for being curt with him, and Noky whom he thinks is insincere.
Tom nominates Noky for being two-faced, and Trish for being controlling.
Trish nominates Dylan since she feels like his emotional punching bag, and Paul for hypocrisy; in the past, he's kicked off about people taking things too seriously, but then took Noky's and Trish's nomination task very seriously himself.
Omg, double eviction this week! Dylan, Paul, Trish and Noky all face the vote. All three black housemates! Really curious to see who's saved.
The shopping task this week, each housemate was given £5 to spend on their own personal choices. When the shopping comes, Yinrun feels like there's tremendous scrutiny of her things - people checking to make absolutely sure she's not taking anything that isn't hers.
Meanwhile, Tom and Paul hoard an absolute mountain of snacks that aren't theirs.
Henry reckons the Jordan-Matty dynamic is becoming all-consuming. He feels caught in the middle, and selfishly feels like he's losing Jordan. He's never felt this way before, and is worried he's being cringe.
Jordan and Matty have their thousandth conversation about their relationship. Jordan is Martha Jones, that's the problem. There's no way for these two to have a healthy relationship until they go their separate ways, and Jordan can find happiness elsewhere.
Jordan reckons his friendship with Henry is platonic. I think this is probably broadly true. Henry's jealousy isn't romantic - rather, Jordan's his best friend, and Henry feels abandoned when Jordan goes off with Matty.
Incredibly strange interaction next.
Chanelle talks with Yinrun and Noky on one side of the bedroom.
On the other side of the bedroom, Jenkin, Tom, Paul and Olivia bitch - half-jokingly? - about Chanelle being on the cool side of the room. Olivia mocks the "cool side" by saying "it's so hard being an outsider".
They plan a Mean Girls move against Chanelle. They will call her over, do a little arm-slapping manoeuvre, and say "iced out!"
When they do this, Chanelle doesn't understand what "iced out" means. They tell her it means they're not her friend anymore. Chanelle rolls her eyes and goes to wash her face - unphased, unhurt.
It is notable that the "cool side" (presumably Yinrun, Trish, Henry, Jordan - maybe Noky and Matty?) haven't lost a single housemate to eviction. The non-outsiders' gang lost Zak - and Olivia specifically lost Hallie and Kerry. And now Paul faces eviction (admittedly alongside Trish, Noky and Dylan).
So it's interesting seeing insecurity from the group that might, in the real world, enjoy the most privileged status.
Jenkin comes to talk to Chanelle, and yep, the callout hurt her more than she let on. She's particularly upset by Jenkin. She won't talk to him for now. Jenkin says "I love you" about a thousand times, but Chanelle says nothing back.

Welcome to my Blog
My name is Heather. I'm in my 30's. I am currently on a first responders and police procedurals kick. Throw in zombie shows and you've got me down to a T. So here is a little bit about me.
I work overnights at a convenience store 10pm to 6am Thursday thru Sunday so activity will be low on the weekends because I'm usually dead tired and up to my eyeballs in things to do for myself and my family.
I tend to have bad bouts of depression that affects my activity online also.
I always give everyone a fair chance to write.
I don't like being spammed with messages. I can see the messages and replies. It gets a little annoying. I will answer when I can.
If you don't like one of the characters I play then please do not interact with my blog.
I'm working on not being so shy and intimidated by writers better than myself.
I tend to get bored easily if I'm not fully invested in the thread. I won't lie. And it will likely be obvious in the length of my replies.

~❊ welcome ❊~
Firstly, please note I am an 18+ account - please do not interact or follow me if you are a minor and/or if you don’t have an age in your bio. You will be blocked!
I felt like creating a list of all of my favourite shows and movies - just a way for me to keep track of things. If you’re looking for something new to watch, maybe you can find it here :)
Please remember to avoid anything that might be triggering for you - I am not including any content warnings. Your media consumption is your own responsibility.
I will add to this list as I watch more. I like nearly all genres (basically anything but horror - although I can be persuaded), so there is a wide variety in this list. Recommendations are always welcome!
Lists are in chronological order of release year.

📚 or 🎧 to sit in the sun and read or listen to musicsend this and a little bit about your taste to get a personalized book or song recommendation.
I'm more of a sci-fi girlie but I love reading romance too. Given if it's not a YA :)
okay!! i've been sitting on this to get you a good list. here are a few of my faves! i've tried to give you a mix of stuff so apologies if you've read any of this before :)
SCI-FI:
The Locked Tomb series by Tamsyn Muir: Three books so far, starting with Gideon the Ninth. I think this series is like, the the future of sci-fi (it really edges into fantasy but I think it's both!!!)? It's based in space necromancy but is also about politics, family, war, and sacrifice -- it's written in perhaps the most clever/confusing style. Really innovative and mind-blowing, in my opinion.
Emily St. John Mandel: Her stuff is pretty solidly literary fiction but it's sci-fi literary fiction. Station Eleven is one of my favorite books and I also loved The Glass Hotel and Sea of Tranquility.
Jeff VanderMeer: Jeff is my HOMIE. Probably one of my fave contemporary scifi writers, his books are all about the environment and biology and how humanity and nature interact. They are also pretty brutal and creepy, but I've loved everything I've read. Start with The Southern Reach trilogy, which begins with Annihilation.
ROMANCE:
Just a note here that I read mostly traditionally published romance. There is a lot of good romance that is independently published or published by small presses -- they take some digging to find and are often only available as ebooks from ebook retailers but worth looking for if you have specific tropes you love.
I read a lot of the popular traditionally published romance authors (hello Emily Henry I love you) but here are some other romances I've liked in recent years:
contemporary romance:
Every Summer After by Carley Fortune Georgie, All Along by Kate Clayborn Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld Nora Goes Off Script by Annabel Monaghan
historical romance:
My favorite historical authors are Lisa Kleypas and Sarah MacLean. Lisa's Wallflower series is really great and Sarah's Bareknuckle Bastards series is my favorite (the first two books, anyway). Other authors to check out are Tessa Dare, Beverly Jenkins, and Olivia Waite. There is so much out there!
join the celebration!

There’s something dark in the grounds of Mystic Falls and it looks like it’s been triggered after a dormant rest. A change in the wind and the residents are certainly feeling it. A range of symptoms have taken it’s hold for the temporary future.

To give you enough time to plot and prepare, we are putting the list below of the symptom your character will have to deal with. All characters have been placed by random in to categories. this was probably a very dumb mistake, but olivia had never been good at making smart decisions — especially when there were monsters involved. having lost those closest to her to some sort of supernatural creature, she had no sympathy for any non-human being. she would gladly take out her rage on anyone who was unlucky enough to cross her path. was it fair? no, but the way she saw it, neither was losing your mother and sister for seemingly no reason. she’d been tracking the vampire for weeks now, and was worried that she’d been found out. she should wait for another hunter to help her, but they were all busy on other cases miles away, and olivia didn’t want to lose track of the other woman for fear that she’d never be able to track her down again. so, she’d have to kill the vampire herself. armed with various weapons, namely an ordinary wooden stake, she sneaks up behind the blonde vampire. stealthily, she raises the stake in her hand and moves to impale her from behind. / @worldscollide

hello and welcome to the Most Extra Request Ever™. welcome. pls strap in! this request is for a cohort of people that (mostly) graduated from magnolia high in the class of 2011, and who are all interconnected through recently-deceased sam friar. as it often goes in small towns, kids who spent their whole lives being around each other tend to part ways at graduation and never see each other again. in this group’s case, they have no choice but to come back together for better or worse, and it’s done a great job at pointing out any cracks that still remain from years ago.
if you want to look at the chart above, pink = romantic / green = friendly / red = antagonistic / purple = familial. each character has a p...retty extensive blurb with lots of connections so we can try and ensure connections and interaction, but i think it’s rly important that everyone knows that these were relationships in high school (for the most part) and definitely don’t have to represent current relationships unless specified (like people who dated in high school don’t have to be dating now, people could have gone away even if it doesn’t specify, etc etc). also!! there will obviously be more connections made, i just could only put so much into graphic and writing before it got to be Too Much!
if you’re interested in a spot pls reply to this or message me or send me a lil msg on discord (morg#3278). xoxo bless

samson friar (deceased): brilliant but lazy
sam grew up as the kid who acted out, who threw fits in class and got into fights on the playground. not many people really knew how hard sam had it, with strict evangelical parents who took all their frustrations out on him. at the end of the day, after using most of his time and energy being the protective big brother for twin boy 3 and little sister girl 1, he didn’t have much left for school. even though he’d always been smart, brimming with potential, he fought forces both external and internal - including only later-diagnosed borderline personality disorder - on his short-lived path to success. as he got older, the bad boy persona he’d acquired by acting out stuck hard and he rolled with it. he had his siblings and best friends since childhood, boy 4 and girl 3, to fall back on. their ragtag bunch got a pretty gnarly name for themselves, skipping class to smoke and throwing parties in abandoned houses. no one ever expected sam to start dating girl 4, universally known to be an uptight prude bitch. something clicked between them, and even though girl 3’s longstanding crush stood in the way of their relationship, it flourished regardless. for a while, she influenced him for the better. he shaped up, got his grades up, even made plans for college. that phase of their relationship was clearly a manic one, since those dreams died quickly. the romance was intensely passionate but also toxic, and despite the animosity she held for him for convincing her to stay local for school to be together and the personal struggles he faced, they refused to break up. in fact, they even decided to get married. about six months before his death, on the heels of the discovery that girl 4 had fallen pregnant, they got engaged. despite the romantic gesture, it couldn’t save their relationship or stop fate from intervening. when girl 4 miscarried, sam went off the rails. a minor drug habit that was once recreational became much more, and not long ago he ended up overdosing, leaving the carnage of family, friends, and lovers behind.
girl 1 (22-24): baby bookworm
sam and boy 3’s little sister, girl 1 was always tagging along with them. she never really fit in with people her age, never really fit in with people her brothers’ ages, so she was often left feeling isolated from everyone. this meant she often retreated into herself, not pursuing academics because of passion but instead because it was all she really had, one constant she could point to that would always be there. she hadn’t realized that perhaps some of the turmoil she felt came from her repressed sexuality until one night, after a party her brothers had begrudgingly let her go to, girl 2 kissed her. she’d never felt a crush like that before and never thought it would be with another girl. when boy 1 moved to magnolia, the two outcasts got along very quickly, becoming best friends and hanging out every single day. understandably, girl 1 was crushed when she found out that girl 2 had taken a liking to him and, apparently, the feelings were reciprocated. caught between her friendship and the protection of an almost-relationship she couldn’t even admit to, she decided to cut off the friendship with boy 1. just before her brother’s death, she finally gave in to boy 4, her brother’s best friend’s long-standing crush, and it’s not that she doesn’t like him, or that she doesn’t like boys, but that she still sees girl 2 at the grocery store and wonders whether it meant as much to girl 2 as it did to her. there’s also the strange fact that, when she looks at boy 4, she gets subtle reminders of her brother that make his loss easier, and isn’t it close enough to love that they’ve gotten each other through this?
girl 2 (24-25): prom queen
never the smartest in the bunch, girl 2 had to rely on street smarts, common sense and good looks to get along. clever in her own way, she was always particularly attuned to people - how to make them tick, how to get what she wanted, how to make connections like no other. maybe that’s why she was always flitting from guy to guy - though girl 1 would certainly say otherwise. she went from one bad relationship to another in high school, trying to find something in a guy that she couldn’t find on her own. after an ugly breakup with her long-term boyfriend, boy 2, that ended in absolute chaos, she was surprised to find herself interested in the unassuming new boy, boy 1. her friends, including part-time friend and part-time enemy girl 4, were surprised that she’d go for a nice guy - but she knew she needed a change of pace. getting girl 1 to leave her alone in the process was just an added perk - i mean, she was never gay or anything, just curious, and was that so wrong?
suggested faces: nicola peltz, cierra ramirez, camila mendes, madelaine petsch, taylor hill, halston sage, sofia carson, natalie alen lind, virginia gardner
girl 3 (24-25): bad genes
girl 3 was hardly given a fighting chance by the Powers That Be. her drug-addicted parents abandoned her early, leaving her with her not-much-better relatives, a revolving door of grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins and the like. it was no wonder she started hanging out with fellow garbage kids, boy 4 and sam. it was a surprise to her, though, that she found herself head over heels in love with sam. the feeling was never returned, really, outside of a few awkward kisses or fondling when he was off with girl 4. everyone was always asking why she didn’t just date boy 3, but the girl was perpetually oblivious to his advances because she was always focused intently on sam. at least she thought she was - but his death proved otherwise. she had actually thought things were looking up, and had been given renewed hope for her repressed love after they slept together one night. when he overdosed despite everything she’d done and everything she felt, girl 3 blamed herself more than anyone. the only thing keeping her from going off the rails (just like her one-time true love) is boy 3, and she’s starting to see what everyone was always talking about when they insisted she choose him instead.
girl 4 (24-25): academic alpha bitch
how do you not crack under the pressure when the weight of the world is on your shoulders? girl 4 was always so good at that, not without the help of anti-anxiety meds and meticulous journaling, always keeping up appearances to be the good, smart, promising girl everyone expected her to be. sam was her break from that, something that shocked absolutely everyone. she was too good, too smart, and had too much potential to be with someone like that. really, though, he was the only thing that made her feel anything but anxiety or anger. she made enemies everywhere she went, seeing everyone as a competitor, from her so-called best friend girl 2 to sam’s best friend girl 3 to her class president opponent, boy 2. sam was always her ally, no matter what, even if they fought. everyone blamed it on him, but she made mistakes too - namely, sleeping with boy 2 after a particularly bad fight. in truth, she wasn’t even sure whose baby it was, but either way she was relieved in a way when she miscarried. sam… not so much. she watched his downward spiral but didn’t have the tools to stop it as he froze her out and distanced himself further and further away from her - and, as she saw it, toward girl 3. girl 4 was the one to find him, and it’s a memory she could never forget, something that makes her regret the relief she felt not to be inextricably linked to him. grief-stricken as she is, how can she not see this as a fresh start?
suggested faces: willa fitzgerald, haley lu richardson, naomi scott, jessica sula, saoirse ronan, olivia cooke, zoey deutch, alycia debnam carey, camila mendes, halston sage, daisy ridley, logan browning
boy 1 (23-24): foreign exchange student
texas was nothing like where boy 1 came from. when he transferred to magnolia high, he didn’t know up from down or this from that. he was helpless - and girl 1 helped him. he developed a crush on her quickly, warming to her southern drawl and the way she talked when she got excited about something she was telling him about. at the same time, he started getting closer and closer to his mentor, the girl who was assigned to help him get acclimated to his new home and his new school: girl 2. it was strange to him that, when he became friends with girl 2, girl 1 stopped sitting next to him in economics, stopped eating with him at lunch, stopped answering his texts or calls. he didn’t see the correlation until later, when girl 2 made tasteless a joke about girl 1 being a lesbian. he had to adapt, either sink or swim in the high school environment he found himself in, and being with girl 2 meant swimming - and anyway, girl 1 clearly wasn’t interested anyway.
suggested faces: timothee chalamet, tom holland, john boyega, noah centineo, xavier serrano, avan jogia, keiynan lonsdale, nick robinson, tye sheridan
boy 2 (24-25): big man on campus
boy 2 had everything he needed to succeed in life. his family had money in oil, he was exceedingly smart, he was good at sports and great with the ladies. he had everything going for him - well, almost everything. the only thing standing between him and success was a little temper that found him getting into fights on the football field or getting into screaming matches with his ex-girlfriend girl 2 in the middle of the hallway at school. he just needed something to channel all that energy into, so he signed up to run for class president, a good old fashioned competition that he could put some positive energy into. he never expected it to be such a tough battle, and much less expected to get into it with girl 4. perpetual rivals in school, their rivalry came to a head during the presidential election. she won, but he developed a fascination with her and a hatred for her garbage boyfriend, sam. he went off for college, but she never really left his mind. he came back recently after losing his job (he says he resigned, but that’s twisted the whole truth a little) and met girl 4 in a bar, and he thought their getting together would be a good thing for them - he could give her everything sam couldn’t, everything she needed and deserved. turns out he was just a distraction, and he told himself he’d draw a line. the line has been drawn even further since sam’s death, since boy 2 definitely doesn’t want to get involved with a dead guy’s fiancee. still, he can’t help but wish she’d reach out…
suggested faces: keith powers, dacre montgomery, ansel elgort, jacob elordi, matt noszka, carter jenkins, thomas doherty, gregg sulkin, logan shroyer
boy 3 (24-25): the unassuming one
boy 3 always felt positively boring, not good or bad but somewhere plainly in the middle. his twin brother sam was always getting the attention - mostly negative, but boy 3 quickly became a firm believer in life that all attention is good attention. he was always grateful for the protection he got, for himself and for little sister girl 1, but at the same time was resentful of his brother for his notoriety. they shared everything, like best friend boy 4, and everything else went automatically to sam. sam never respected what he wanted to do or who he wanted to see, including girl 3. sam always knew that he liked her, and yet sam used her crush on him to his advantage at any possible time. as close as they always had been, the resentment was too much for boy 3 to handle and, when he got the chance, he decided to go off and backpack across europe to find himself before going to college across the country. he’s back now for the funeral, and while he know better who he is now, he can’t help but hate himself a little for driving a wedge between himself and his other half. he’s falling into old habits now, trying to reconnect with the person he used to be in any way he can - like how he’s fallen back in with girl 3. now, he can’t tell whether this is growth, or if he’s just regressing back to his lesser self.
suggested faces: logan lerman, joe keery, nat wolff, cole sprouse, carter jenkins
boy 4 (24-25): class clown
no one ever took boy 4 seriously. he was always sort of dumb, this caricature of a class clown that had nothing else to offer. after a while, he sort of saw himself as that, too. he moved in a pack with boy 3 and sam, cracking jokes whenever he could and coasting along until high school would finally end. he spent so much of his young life hanging out with the twins that he became well acquainted with girl 1, their little sister. the boys had their own things, girlfriends and schoolwork and everything, and as they got older and boy 4 found himself devoid of any real passion, he spent a lot of idle time with her, learning from her and maybe, secretly, falling in love with her. he always knew how protective sam was of her, though, and as fiercely loyal as he was, he would never sacrifice their friendship for anyone - not even someone as amazing as her. sam dying was the worst pain he’s ever felt in his life, and if being around girl 1 is mutually beneficial, wouldn’t sam be okay with that? he has to tell himself yes, otherwise the guilt would overtake him and he can’t deal with that on top of everything.

« ° THREAD ROULETTE RESULTS !!
« ° hey lovely members !! here’s the moment we’ve all been waiting for, i will reveal the group results of our very own thread roulette !! first of all, since we had an uneven amount of characters we had to make groups of three people instead of two. that means we have a total of nine groups. we would like to encourage everyone who’s part of the same group to interact with each other. so, for example, if jacob, charlie and lucas were part of the same group, i ( admin fie ) would try to set up a two threads for jacob, one with charlie and one with lucas !! i could even hit both sien and ryan up at the same time and we could try to plot a chatzy with all three of our characters. as you can see, the possibilities are endless !! if anything is unclear, don’t be afraid to hit us up if you have any questions. now without further ado, you can find the groups underneath the cut !! we hope you have a great time plotting and writing these threads and we can’t wait to read them. xxx
group one: jace patterson, noah park & lexi kim meet at the campus movie night.
group two: sara ballio, nessie kang & reece kweon meet at the local night club.
group three: olivia mitchell, finley lincoln & chloe fawn meet at the local karaoke bar.
group four: asa gray flores, juniper mae jenkins & jacob kingston meet at the student protest on campus.
group five: thea sinclaire, mani mistry & maya tandel meet at the local starbucks/cafe.
group six: juliet chambers, kieran rush & charlie cornelissen meet at the charity bake sale on campus.
group seven: diana kingston, lena bakker & lucas wolcott meet at the local walking/biking trail.
group eight: james hensen, andie vega & abbey ronson meet at the campus bookstore.
group nine: kelcie tiller, parker ellis & matthew levitt meet at the local football stadion.
disclaimer: these groups and locations were all randomized. keep in mind that you don’t have to keep your characters at the set location throughout the thread; you can always start at the given place and continue it somewhere else. with that being said, HAVE FUN with our mini event, darlings !!

Announcing Winners WGA Awards 2019: ‘Can You Ever Forgive Me?,’ ‘Eighth Grade’
Tumblr media
In a pair of upsets, “Can You Ever Forgive Me?” has won the Writers Guild of America’s adapted screenplay award for Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty and Bo Burnham has won the original screenplay award for “Eighth Grade.”
The major television trophies went to “The Americans,” “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel,” “Homeland” and “Barry” for the 71st Writers Guild Awards, held at dual ceremonies at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, Calif., and the Edison Ballroom in New York City. It was the last major awards show before the Feb. 24 Academy Awards.
“Can You Ever Forgive Me?,” based on the memoir of the late Lee Israel, topped the screenplays for “Black Panther,” “If Beale Street Could Talk” “A Star Is Born”; and “BlacKkKlansman.” Though the script for the comedy-drama — the story of how Israel discovered her talent for forgery — has received an Oscar nomination, “Beale Street” and “BlacKkKlansman” were regarded as the front-runners. It appears that the tale of the travails and redemption of a professional writer clearly resonated with Hollywood writers.
“I want to thank Lee,” Holofcener said in her acceptance. “She’d probably be sitting in the room judging all of us. She though she was the smartest person in the room and she probably was.”
A stunned Burnham credited star Elsie Fisher for his winning the WGA award. Burnham won over Alfonso Cuaron’s “Roma”; Adam McKay’s “Vice”; Bryan Woods, Scott Beck, and John Krasinski’s “A Quiet Place”; and Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga, and Brian Currie’s “Green Book.” “Roma,” “Vice” and “Green Book” are all nominated for Academy Awards along with “The Favourite” and “First Reformed” while “Eight Grade” did not receive an Oscar nod.
“Eighth Grade,” which stars Fisher as an awkward teen dealing with the final week of eighth grade, also won the first-time Directors Guild of America Award for Burnham on Feb. 2. The film is also up for four Spirit Awards on Feb. 23.
“To the other nominees in the category — Have fun at the Oscars, losers!” Burnham joked in his acceptance. “No, I prepared nothing. This all belongs to Elsie Fisher who performed the script. No one would care about the script if she hadn’t done it.”
“Eighth Grade” is the first film to win the WGA Original Screenplay award without being nominated for an Academy since Michael Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” in 2003.
“The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” won the comedy series award for Kate Fodor, Noah Gardenswartz, Jen Kirkman, Sheila Lawrence, Daniel Palladino and Amy Sherman Palladino. Starring Rachel Brosnahan, “Mrs. Maisel” won the Emmy for best comedy series last year.
The final season of “The Americans” took the drama series award for Peter Ackerman, Hilary Bettis, Joshua Brand, Joel Fields, Sarah Nolen, Stephen Schiff, Justin Weinberger, Joe Weisberg and Tracey Scott Wilson.
Bill Hader and Alec Berg won the episodic comedy award for the opening segment of HBO’s “Barry,” “Chapter One: Make Your Mark” (“Barry”). They also won the new series award.
Stephanie Gillis won the animated award for the “Bart’s Not Dead” episode of “The Simpsons” — which was just renewed for its 31st and 32nd seasons by Fox — and showrunner Alex Gansa took the episodic drama award for the “Paean To The People” segment of “Homeland.” “Bathtubs Over Broadway” took the documentary award and “God of War” won the videogame trophy.
Hulu’s “Castle Rock” won the long-form original award and “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story” took the adapted long-form trophy. “Last Week Tonight with John Oliver” won the comedy-variety series cagtegory.
Chelsea Peretti hosted the West Coast ceremonies while Roy Wood Jr. was the emcee in New York. “All the glitz and glamor of the Oscars without the pressure of public interest,” Peretti said in her intro.
Jordan Peele’s horror-comedy “Get Out” won the WGA Award for original screenplay and James Ivory’s coming-of-age drama “Call Me by Your Name” won for adapted screenplay last year. Both went on to win the Oscar.
The WGA awards are mixed indicator of Oscar sentiment. Six of the last 10 WGA winners have gone on to win Academy awards over the past five years. The awards are decided in voting by the 17,000 members of the WGA.
The West Coast ceremonies included plenty of political commentary. Adam McKay, on receiving the WGA’s Paul Selvin Award for “Vice,” asked for a “beat of silence” for the million people who died during the invasion of Iraq.
Jenji Kohan, recipient of the Paddy Chayefsky Award, was unable to attend due to having to shoot the final episode of “Orange Is the New Black.” She said in a taped message: “I’ve been incredibly lucky to work with enormously funny and kind people. I love the people I work with. Life is too short to work with a******s, by the way. That’s my Public Service Announcement.”

Responsive Web Design: A Lesson In Patience.
Olivia, Graphic Design, talks about the struggles that come with designing a website in "Responsive Web Design: A Lesson In Patience."
This week In my interactive II class with professor Sue Jenkins we had a Responsive Web Design (RWD) project where we had to completely customize a bootstrap template to showcase a city of our choosing that worked seamlessly for both desktop and mobile.

For this project, I choose Buffalo N.Y. I enjoyed this project for a few reasons. One of the reasons is because it reminded me that although the…

My Favorite Films of 2018, Part 2
Part 1 is right here: http://ryanmeft.tumblr.com/post/182987886772/my-favorite-films-of-2018-part-1
Tumblr media
They Shall Not Grow Old
The documentary can be a pretty static form of film making. You talk to witnesses, research subjects, check your facts, find footage, and compile your movie. What to do, though, when the subject comes from the very beginnings of film, before color, sound or halfway decent film stock? If you’re Peter Jackson, obsessed with World War I, and also a little bit certifiably insane, here is what you do: visit actual locations to colorize old footage the way it would have looked, hire lip readers and scour old documents to determine what the silent soldiers were saying, and spend four years with your team restoring the visual records of The War To End All Wars until it almost looks like it was filmed yesterday. Rare scenes of actual battle are less important than those of men in the trenches awaiting their last stand, or audio of them discussing simple pleasures like cigarettes and fresh underwear. Done for the hundredth anniversary of the war’s end, Jackson and company are keenly aware that these century-starting events, and the people who lived them, are being swiftly forgotten as a new century rolls on it. And he’ll be damned if he’s going to allow that.
Tumblr media
The Favourite
An acid-tongued look at royalty that is as darkly comedic and disdainful of courtly privilege as most Anglophile movies are worshipful of it, Yorgos Lanthimos’s film about a mentally ill woman surrounded by vipers in human suits is sharp enough to cut bone. Starring Emma Stone, Rachel Weisz and Olivia Colman in a triptych of roles that are highlights of their already sterling careers, there’s no chivalrous honor or ladylike poise to be found here, only manipulation, resentment, cunning and ambition. Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara’s screenplay is a devilish delight of double entendres, threats veiled and open, and wordplay more venomous than a pit of snakes. Witness the fantastically brutal interactions of Stone and Weisz as they seek to make each other bleed without weapons. Robbie Ryan’s camera passes on the normally grandiose portrayals of English courts, and Fiona Crombie’s production design focuses on shadowed, claustrophobic halls and gritty detail, with the result that it all feels like the dark, crowded, petty place it would have in life. Perhaps it took a Greek director to puncture the stuffed shirt of so many British period pieces.
Tumblr media
Zama
The man sees himself only in his own mind. To him, he is a diligent, brave, upright servant of the Spanish Empire, enduring the unimaginable hardship of being given an assignment far from his family. To the South American locals, he is a pompous stuffed shirt who may not do much real harm, but isn’t good for anything particularly useful, either. To the revolutionary bandits who roam the countryside, he is both a simple of the oppression of their unasked-for Spanish overlords, and simply a pigeon whose pockets are ripe for the picking. Fiction often portrays the imperialists who forcibly colonized the world as evil racists, and that’s not far off the mark. Lucretia Martel goes in for something a little more understated, looking at a minor imperial functionary through the lens of his dull life and duller aspirations. That may not sound exciting, but Rui Pocas’s choice of shots drenches the viewer in a world of unending color and beauty, contrasting starkly with the gray and pointless place Don Diego sees. A perfectly measured performance by Daniel Gimenez Cacho completes this meditative work.
Tumblr media
First Reformed
I’m not gonna lie to you all: this is probably my Inside Llewyn Davis for the year, the movie I’ll still be bringing up in five years as proof that people don’t actually want to see original films. Ethan Hawke turns in the performance of his career as a disillusioned Reverend relegated to a tiny tourist church in a multi-million-dollar religious empire, whose encounter with a radical environmental activist leaves him shaken. It’s been called a Taxi Driver for the modern age, but Paul Schrader’s film is much more than that. The Reverend’s faith is genuine, while the pain of his past, his attraction to a dead man’s widow, and his newfound passion for the planet are also completely genuine. Ernst Toller is a man who can hold multitudes, and Hawke brings them all to life. The final shot leaves us to puzzle out which is most powerful for ourselves. Schrader’s film is about a world in which we are almost always asked to choose expediency over ethics, even if we wear a frock that claims to say otherwise.
Tumblr media
Can You Ever Forgive Me?
If there’s one thing you can reliably expect from the movies, it is that they will romanticize the creative arts. On the screen, writers who are good are always successes, and not having put out a book in ten years never results in losing your beachfront home. Then there’s the true story of Lee Israel, who coped with her vanished success by forging letters from famous authors. Israel, played by Melissa McCarthy in a role you didn’t know she had in her, is clearly the hero of the story: her goal is not to get rich but to pay the bills, and most people don’t really feel too broken-hearted when the kind of person who pays thousands for a signature gets ripped off. Marielle Heller and screenwriter Nicole Holofcener don’t rely on simple distinctions, though. Israel herself is only sporadically likable, with the only person who will endure her being a drunken and irresponsible gay friend played by Richard E. Grant. It’s hard to sympathize with writers when Hollywood casts them all as wealthy and alluring. McCarthy’s role is anything but; Israel is an abrasive working stiff, and we can’t help but root for her, despite her deep flaws.
Tumblr media
If Beale Street Could Talk
Much like the writings of James Baldwin, Barry Jenkins’ adaptation is not to much a plot with a clear story progression as a series of episodes in the life of a family. An innocent black man has been imprisoned by the racist testimony of a white cop, with his pregnant wife struggling to free him, but that is mere detail. What makes the movie stand out is the way it is shot, weaving not only between past and present but between perspectives. Two fathers discuss their fears over drinks. A hopeful couple, denied other housing, moves imaginary belongings into an under-construction loft. Two men look at each over beers and years and try to figure out if black men have a place in 1970’s New York. Two families meet to announce the pregnancy and it ends in a war with no winner. This is all supported by a moving score and cinematography that evokes the fall of the year. Jenkins is unafraid to start things that have no catharsis, and ultimately to suggest that maybe life is just a series of events with no satisfying conclusions.
Tumblr media
Damsel
Damsel is a black comedy feminist adventure western, but once you’ve got that many keywords in one paragraph, isn’t the very idea of genre being stretched? Yes, and to viciously brutal effect. Directed by David and Nathan Zellner and featuring a acidic performance from the underrated Mia Wasikowska, it appears to be a traditional damsel-in-distress story, until it turns out the heroic rescuer has deluded himself, the priest accompanying him is a cowardly fraud, and the women being rescued doesn’t actually need rescued. What follows is a journey through the wild west frontiers as darkly comic as it can get without ever tipping over into satire. The men are cowardly and useless, the woman must fend for herself, and what results is the sort of takedown of a genre that, sadly, doesn’t reach very many viewers. You can say it’s a political film, but for me, it seems like the Zellners were simply enjoying flipping every western trope ever made on its head and into a ravine.
As I said, the list is 14 movies long because I simply could not bring myself to cut any more films from it. However, I loved a lot of films this year, perhaps more than any other year in recent memory, and I want to mention many of the “runners-up” here: Beast, Isle of Dogs, Eighth Grade, Won’t You Be My Neighbor?, Cold War, The Insult, A Quiet Place, Alpha, You Were Never Really Here, Puzzle, The Rider, On Chesil Beach, The Old Man and the Gun, Love After Love, The Miseducation of Cameron Post, Hearts Beat Loud, Leave No Trace, The Death of Stalin, Shoplifters, Dark River. Every one of these was as worthy and memorable as any on the main list; it’s just a matter of space, really. There are also many incredibly acclaimed films I simply was not able to get my hands on in time for this list.

OSCAR 2019 PREDICTIONS PART 3: WRITING AND DIRECTING
BEST ADAPTED SCREENPLAY:
·         Joel & Ethan Coen for THE BALLAD OF BUSTER SCRUGGS
Based on the story by Jack London and Stewart Edward White
·         Spike Lee, David Rabinowitz, Charlie Wachtel and Kevin Willmott for BLACKKKLANSMAN
Based on the memoir by Ron Stallworth
·         Nicole Holofcener and Jeff Whitty for CAN YOU EVER FORGIVE ME?
Based on the memoir by Lee Israel
·         Barry Jenkins for IF BEALE STREET COULD TALK
Based on the novel by James Baldwin
·         Bradley Cooper, Will Fetters and Eric Roth for A STAR IS BORN
Based on the 1976 film written by Joan Didion, John Gregory Dunn and Frank Pierson, the 1954 film written by Moss Hart and the 1937 filmwritten by William A. Wellman and Robert Carson
Who Will Win?
Looks like this will be a battle between BlackkKlansman and If Beale Street Could Talk.
Spike Lee’s screenplays are trojan horse of social commentary. He will take a singular storyline and sneak in brief commentary on race, politics and America. He has become so skilled at this that one theme will flow into another while keeping the story going. In one scene, we see how racist cops intimidate black activists when Officer Landers (Frederick Weller) hassles political activist Kwame Ture (Corey Hawkins) and student Patrice Dumas (Laura Harrier). Then we see how the police force enables racist cops, with the Chief (Robert John Burke) expecting black officer Ron Stallworth (John David Washington) to suck it up.[1] This in turn leads to a brief discussion between Patrice and Ron about whether the police force can be reformed on the inside, with Ron in favour of it.
We also get discussion of representation with Patrice and Ron discussing blaxploitation films and repressing heritage with fellow officer Flip Zimmerman (Adam Driver) talking about how he was ignored his Jewish heritage to fit into WASP society. Never once do these discussions ever get in the way of the story. If anything, they flesh out the story.
Never once does the film flinch from the ugliness of racism, which results in many uncomfortable moments. But nowhere is the racism more disturbing than with Connie Kendrickson (Ashlie Atkinson), whose embodies the banality of evil. In one horrifying scene, she and her husband Felix (Jasper Paakkonen) discuss a terrorist attack as if they’re anticipating an anniversary.
While BlackkKlansman is political, If Beale Street Could Talk is feels personal. Barry Jenkins uses an unconventional story structure to portray a classic story of Tish (Kiki Layne), a young black woman dealing with her boyfriend Fonny (Stephan James) being accused of sexual assault while carrying his baby. The film plays like a memory, cutting between Tish and Fonny’s time before the arrest and Tish’s attempt to prove Fonny’s innocence. Through this structure, we know why they’re love is worth fighting for.
What astounds me about Barry Jenkins’ writing is how fleshed out every character feels. No matter how brief their appearance, every character feels like a real person with a strong history to them. Nowhere is that truer than in a dinner scene between Tish’s family and Fonny’s family. Even though this is the only scene where we see most of them, you can feel a long sense of history between them through their interactions. This scene alone should be used as a lesson on how to write characters.
As much as I want Jenkins to win, I know the odds are in favour of BlackkKlansman. Spike Lee has been long overdue for an Oscar.
BEST ORIGINAL SCREENPLAY:
·         Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara For THE FAVOURITE
·         Paul Schrader for FIRST REFORMED
·         Brian Hayes Currie, Peter Farrelly, Nick Vallelonga for GREEN BOOK
·         Alfonso Cuaron for ROMA
·         Adam McKay for VICE
Who Will Win?
At first, it seemed like Green Book was a shoe in for this award. It’s based on a true story about two men of different races forming a friendship. The strength of the script comes from the funny yet believable interactions between the low-class chauffer Tony Lip (Viggo Mortensen) and classical pianist Dr. Don Shirley (Mahershala Ali). But the problem is the script feels a bit too conventional, especially compared to the other screenplays. Of course, it doesn’t help that Dr. Don Shirley’s family is accusing portraying their family member inaccurately.
Thankfully, it’s bringing more attention to the far superior screenplay The Favourite. Deborah Davis and Tony McNamara deliver a delicious battle of wits between two manipulative ladies for the affection of the Queen. There’s subtext galore with every character hiding their true intentions under a façade of manners. But once they’re behind closed doors, we get deliciously bitchy insults. But the real joy of the script is how it deglamorizes the aristocracy. They may act prim and proper, but under their white wigs and corsets they are a bunch of petty children, throwing oranges at each other and literally pushing people each other into ditches. Nowhere is this truer than with Queen Anne (Olivia Colman), who’d rather gorge on cake and play with her rabbits than discuss taxation for the war effort. It’s a lot more fun to watch.
BEST DIRECTOR:
·         Spike Lee for BLACKKKLANSMAN
·         Pawel Pawlikowski For COLD WAR
·         Yorgos Lanthimos for THE FAVOURITE
·         Alfonso Cuaron for ROMA
·         Adam McKay for VICE
Who Will Win?
It can be no one else but Cuaron. Roma is the definition of an auteur film, with Cuaron accomplishing his vision by handling the responsibility of writer, cinematography, co-editing and director. And he’s accomplished his vision to create a beautiful portrait of his childhood
[1] Of course, it doesn’t help that the chief engages in casual racism; refusing to call political activist Kwame Ture (Corey Hawkins) by his chosen name.
