i was wondering if you’ve seen the conversation between paul and hunter davies that davies leaked? i believe it was candid and it has some interesting looks at paul’s understanding of himself, like “maybe i hurt people by accident” also it has a part on mimi and paul that i thought was interesting

Hello, lovely. Yes, I've seen it. It's a very hard read, in a lot of ways. I agree that it's a very candid conversation. But, I'm always unsure how off-the-record Paul expected it to be. Like I'm sure he didn't expect Hunter to just print everything he said. But, he did call a journalist (even if it was also a friend) that was known to be someone who sets the narrative for The Beatles. So, I think Paul did want to get his side of the story 'out there'. Like, he knew Hunter would write about them again and he needed him to have Paul’s views on things. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but I think that’s probably why Hunter thought it would be fine to publish it.

That's an interesting part you pull out. Because I think it's a very classic Paul talking in circles moment. He acknowledges the hurt, but then circles around each one, explaining how, actually, he didn't really do anything wrong. He’s in a state of confusion about everything and it’s clear he’s trying to make sense of it all.

Paul and Mimi is always so interesting to me. In that Paul’s like, “She always liked him. Said she hated me. But she loved me really.” Which to be fair, does seem a lot like Mimi’s way, so perhaps he’s right! He’s also so respectful of the older generation, and has defended her. Perhaps that’s because he feels he needs to without John there to do it. But he was fond of her, I think, in the way he often was of the older people in his life.

He's clearly in a bit of a state, talking in circles and clearly really upset. So, I don't think we can take everything in there as gosabel for how he felt all the time. But, it's a very interesting snap shot
