What is a happy ending?
So someone (looks sternly at @rondoel) thought giving me insight in a certain OC of theirs and making me feel things is an okay thing to do. That I won't proceed to write a heartbreaking epilogue to my two part Virgil king story. This one not as long. But still. Enjoy:
What is a happy ending?
"Why happily ever after?" King wondered aloud as He studied their latest piece of art.
No one had ever answered that question for Him. Not in a meaningful way at least. And it never truly stopped bothering Him.
"Your majesty?" Anxiety asked carefully. Probably not sure if he had been meant to hear. King wasn't so sure Himself.
Oh well. He might as well finish the thought. Something interesting might come from it.
"Happily ever after. It's so... boring. Why does everyone like it so much?" He had wondered so often...
Anxiety shrugged. "Princey loved that crap. He hated it when I called out the flaws, though he could be just as bad with plot holes.
It's not realistic at all and... well boring is one word for it." His tone and face could almost be mistaken for dismissive, but King could swear He spotted fondness in the upturn of Anxiety's mouth and a slight wistfulness in the shine of his eyes.
King however was more interested in this more nuanced perspective on the story trope. Answers at last?
Anxiety noticed his king desired for him to elaborate and immediately started fidgeting as he tried to find the words to express his thoughts sufficiently.
"I suppose... everyone thinks that's what they want?" His nerves turn the sentence into a question. "When they are little it's an easy goal. You find the one who'll make you whole, or defeat the villain, or both. And then nothing ever bothers you again.
It's not how life works though... and growing up... I think everyone still has a part of them that wants to hold on to things being that... simple..." Anxiety trailed off and looked up at king curiously. His face strangely focused as if he was looking for an answer himself.
"Simple?" King urged wanting to hear more. Anxiety was so close to making sense. So close to bringing about that wonderful feeling when curiosity was sated. A story complete at last.
"Um... yeah... I mean even I feel a little... I don’t know... it feels right?
When you do the right thing, even when it's hard and you get the stuff you want anyway. And when people who hurt you don’t win. You want the world to work like that. If not for you then at least for the servant girl, who just wanted a night off, or the waitress who just wanted to buy her father's dream restaurant. Hard work, kindness, patience... they should be rewarded right?" Anxiety explained. Sounding frustrated. "And..." he let out a resigned sigh before straightening up and continued more decidedly. "Since the world doesn't work that way... why not escape somewhere where it does?" It was passionate. Perhaps in defense of Roman's favorite thing in the world. Then that fight and righteous defiance fell away in favor of a nostalgic fondness. "Thomas did it all the time growing up," Anxiety sighed before returning his attention to the painting that had prompted the question. A Father's Day movie night.
Hugs and snacks and movies with happily ever afters galore. All of Morality's favorite things.
King had to admit it had... stung to discover that Morality had taken up the role He'd given him even after he betrayed everything that title stood for.
Had he ever felt even the slightest bit conflicted when hearing Roman calling him 'Padre'?
Or was it supposed to be fine, since he thought Roman was the only half of Him who felt attached to him that way?
Had it truly never occurred to him that while he took in the confused Roman, he left behind a disoriented and heartbroken Remus who didn't understand why daddy was ignoring him.
What had he done wrong?
Why did he never get bedtime stories or hugs from dad? Why was he shoved away, scolded, ignored?
Why was he not allowed to play in the imagination with his brother?
The last thought had plagued both halves for years.
Even Roman who had stopped admitting to it to please Morality felt conflicted during story times and hugs to this day.
Telling Thomas that he didn't want anything to do with his brother had hurt more than the bump on his head...
But all of that was in the past. They were gone and their unresolved issues were a waste of His time. He had berated, tormented, Anxiety over this. He would not fall victim to such sentimentalities Himself.
"I see... escapism then?" He muttered, trying to get back on topic and not to show the... somewhat emotional turn His thoughts had taken.
Like His halves, His 'Padre' was gone. He probably never existed in the first place.
And Morality would pay for that betrayal and the way he abandoned Remus and how he made Roman fight to earn his love, only to abandon him as well. His suffering had only just begun.
Not because it still mattered. But... any excuse to justify and fuel His wrath even a little bit more was good enough for Him.
He'd probably avenge slights against his minister simply to feign kinship and watch the traitors squirm under his rule just a bit more. Not that he needed a reason to do anything. But justified rage was so much more satisfying to set loose. Because the targets would feel, deep down, they brought this upon themselves.
"Yeah... there's enough crappy stuff going on in the world right? Thomas... wants to use his talents to make people smile. And while that's cheesy, it's also... well it's him," Anxiety shrugged. King hummed in agreement as He framed the picture and put it away. He'd barely paid attention honestly. The answer was satisfactory. But there was a new question on His mind. As He mused over His minister's attachments to His enemies and how to sever them He recalled something intriguing about his recent behavior.
Anxiety had been pulling away from Morality. Why? What had caused a crack in 'the bestest most dynamicest duoest duo'?
And was this something he could use to forge an allegiance. Or to hurt Morality as deeply as He'd been hurt. Or, ideally, both?
King smirked to Himself as He laid a gentle hand on Anxiety's shoulder. He asked about a drawing of the young side and Thomas. He was pleased to note that His minister no longer shrank away every time He moved in his general direction. He might not be comfortable with His touch yet, but he was getting used to it. Something that would surely get to the others who still tiptoed around Anxiety's boundaries.
Maybe, at some point, he could be made to truly see things His way. To see the traitors for the villains they were. Just the thought of the chaos that this realization would unleash... It would be magnificent.
Morality had forgotten something important about 'happily ever after's.
Bad guys don’t get them. And the victor is always the hero.
It was only right that King reminded him of the shadow side of his favourite ending.
By making him live it.
Virgil knew that it was a bad thing that he found himself enjoying talking about his memories to the king and watching them turn into pretty cool paintings.
He was Anxiety, this was definitely a crisis. He can't relax now, not around the reason of said crisis... but if he doesn't relax a little his thoughts might do something really bad. And if he doesn't do whatever the king wants, then the king might do something bad.
So he had to balance on this weird edge of anxious, but cool with it.
The others were counting on him. To stay safe, to keep it together, to keep King distracted, to find a way to get him to lay off a little...
"Worthless." And... the thing is back.
"Dude, seriously, not now!" He snapped at his... shadow.
King just looked on intrigued. Great. Now the shadow had King's attention.
"Failure," it hissed. Right... King is not his biggest problem right now.
So far the shadow had only been mildly annoying even quiet for the most part. But clearly anxious thoughts made it remember it could be a pain in the behind. And worst thing is it got to Virgil even more because it laid out his true fears for King to see and use against him.
"You... you are just... you're just a thought. You can't hurt me." Virgil insisted.
Thomas could deal with his irrational fits. Surely he could manage this thing, right?
"Monsssster," the shadow hissed. No he didn't think that anymore!
"Guardian!" Virgil bit back. Patton said so, Logan said so, Roman said so, Thomas said so... why cant he just believe them?
He found himself struggling to breath again. The thoughts... they were real now... what if they could hurt him...? Can he die? What would happen to Thomas?
"Begone!" Virgil snapped out of his near attack at the sudden outburst from King.
What...?
He looked up just in time to see a flash of metal and shadow's dissolving figure.
"It'll reform later," King muttered as he sheeted his sword.
"It became too bothersome. You should not let your creations have power over you young one. You are their master, don't forget that," he instructed calmly, not looking at him.
Did he just...?
"Return to your business now, I find that I am in need of a break," he then declared as he walked away, still not looking back.
"But..." he came to a halt. "Should you wish to finish our gallery... I might be willing to indulge your presence later."
Virgil didn't quiet know what to do, so he bowed, just in case the king could see it somehow. "Y-yes my king. Thank you," he stammered hurriedly.
When he looked up, the king was gone.
And Virgil ran. He needed to find Lo and Pat before the shadows returned.
His thoughts were a confused mess... he hadn't imagined that right?
King had really stepped in to save him instead of letting Virgil's punishment, gift, curse, whatever run its course...
And then he left it up to Virgil to decide if and when they'd finish up.
There was probably some messed up reason behind it... but still.
Virgil wasn't stupid though. Even if saving him had been a purely noble impulse, King hadn't undone his 'gift' to make sure it wouldn't happen again. Telling him to put his foot down with 'his own creations' didn't really count.
King still messed up real bad and would have to do something pretty impressive to make up for all of that.
And Virgil was pretty sure that it wasn't just his pessimism talking when he thought that the king was no where close to wanting to make nice with any of them.
Or not for the right reasons anyway.
He shook his head. He can worry about all that later. Right now he has to find the others. Before King runs into one of them.
Virgil's trip down memory lane might've been deemed 'entertaining' or whatever, but he hadn't be around for whatever had happened to make the king be out for blood in the first place.
He didn't want to find out what King's idea of 'having fun' was when it came to Pat, Lo or even Janus. Whatever they did, it was still his duty to protect Thomas. Physically, socially, mentally and emotionally. Whether he wanted him to or not.
And not even King was going to stop him from fulfilling his purpose.
@antiredhuman you wanted to be tagged if I wrote more for this au so here you go! Hope you like it!

by starclouds
pretty sure i got this song from General Angsty (if i didn’t, apologizes), but this slowed down verison HITS THE SPOT. i love his voice in this slowed way, it is so interesting. also, it’s reverb? like? yes, please. the thumbnail is actually a GIF that is a fountain, it’s pretty cool, 7/10, also this makes me wanna sway with like Echo or something (actually now that i think of it, i’m pretty sure i got this from General Angsty’s dancing post with the boys, which made me so SoFt omg :)) overall, recommend listen to this when you wanna sway with your lover in like a dance club, but your nestled into their neck and your pulled so close and it’s warm in their embrace :) the instruments also are really nice in this verison.

heather - conan gray ( slowed + reverb)
by Vibey
okay definitely this song is sadder slowed, like THE FEELS OMGG but it’s amazing slowed, like the original is awesome, AND THEN THIS???!! so the thumbnail is a really pretty GIF of this VHS tape just playing, and it’s purple so 10/10. this definitely brings the raspy part of his voice, and i really like it (or that’s just the reverb lol 😂) only thing i do not like about this slowed version is it cuts off the end of the song at the end of the video, and I don’t know why, but it’s still really good, so i don’t mind too much :). it’s very pretty and sad all at the same time. overall, recommend listening to this song when your just chilling, staring up at the ceiling and your like “let’s be a puddle of sad for a sec”

billie eilish - my future - slowed dreamy reverb
by ayabe
so this song is incredible, like it slowed really hits different. billie’s voice has always been so interesting to me because sometimes she sings like very whisper like, and other times she is full on belting like going insane, and i really like that she uses her voice in multiple different ways during her songs. billie is the number one artist i go to when i really wanna be in the feels, and this verison of my future is so amazing. the beat is so interesting, and the thumbnail is really cool 9/10, also i don’t know what the language is nor, do i know what it says, so if you do, let me know lol 😂 but the picture is cool. this song is one i listen to all the time because it’s just- yes. overall recommend this song when your chilling in bed, just in the dark, with the window open on a summer night :)
friends on the other side - s l o w e d
by angelicsounds
THIS IS SO EPIC SLOWED OMGGGGG I CAN’T NOT EVEN EXPLAIN AOBPINADOPBNF I REALLY FEEL LIKE A SPOOKY DUDE WHO KNOWS HOW TO DO SOME SPOOKY STUFF OMGGG i love the original song, and i also really like the cover by annapantsu, definitely recommend her verison too! this has got to be the coolest disney villain song slowed down, hands down. the thumbnail is a GIF of this anime character’s eyes doing weird looking highlight stuff lol idk what to call it, 8/10. overall, recommend when you wanna listen to a song that makes you feel like the main villain in a story :) AND THE ENDING HITS DIFFERENT OMGGGGGGGG
le valse de l’amour - patrick doyle (slowed down)
by mari
okay, so we all know that I love Cinderella. and this song is so incredible, i can’t- okay, but just imagine… the bad batch, undercover at a senate ball, you, trying to make sure the senators are safe. the boys are in their separate locations, you know, watching, making sure everyone is good. some random dude from out of nowhere tries to make you dance with him. you are obviously like “um, what the heck, please no sir.” and suddenly…
“may i have this dance?”
it’s Hunter (or crosshair, but i’ve written a fic about Hunter dancing with the reader, so i feel like he would be a good dancer).
anyways, he whisks you away from random dude, and your like “Hunter there’s no music” because the orchestra just finished their previous song, and he’s like
“just wait.”
bam, this song comes on.
and suddenly, Hunter’s waltzing with you and you didn’t even know he could waltz. and it’s exactly like the scene from Cinderella 2015. So you two are doing your own thing in the middle of the ballroom, and everyone starts moving out of the way because woah these people are really good at dancing
and you are just shocked because HOW??
and he just leads you through the whole thing. he spins you around, and if your wearing a dress and it’s got some tulle on it, it swishes around when he spins you and oh my god the butterflies and smile he gets when you giggle because you love the way it swirls around you. and then people start backing up more, because at this rate, you guys are taking up the whole dance floor.
and you just keep going, and he starts pick you up and spinning you around when the harp comes on. and he grabs you by the waist and starts swinging you around just like Kit & Ella do in the movie. and then the end of the song comes, and he dips you, brings you back up, and that’s it.
and when it’s all said and done, you just look at him, and well, he obviously looks extremely handsome, his suit is all pressed, and his hair is done back in a bun, but he’s got a few wisps coming out from your whole little dancing experience, and all you can say is:
“I-”
“shhh, mesh’la. later. i’ll tell you later.”
anyways, thumbnail is a solid 11/10, and recommend if you wanna daydream about dancing at a senator ball with Hunter.
no i am not planning on writing a fic about this, what you you implying? okay, yes i am, i am. no shame 😂
sleeping beauty - once upon a dream (slowed + reverb)
by Paige Coddington
sleeping beauty is one of my favorite disney princesses besides rapunzel & cinderella, so i love this. The GIF is so pretty, 10/10. Aurora’s voice is pretty, and her vibrato is so much more prominent in this verison, and i am obsessed. this is so pretty, I- speechless, actually. and then philip comes in and it’s just ✨ also, i always like aurora in the pink dress when i was younger, but now i kind of like the blue dress more. they should have just given her a purple dress i guess lol 😂 overall, really pretty, recommend when you are in the mood for some more nostalgic disney vibes :)
D a n c i n g Q u e e n 女王
by v a p o r w a v e
okay so i originally found this on an edit of “the snap from avengers infinity war, but dancing queen” -
and when i tell you that the snap got even sadder, I-
anyways, i also really like vaporwave music, very interesting and very cool. i love the video because i’m pretty sure it’s the original music video, but it looks like your looking through a kaleidoscope, so 100000000/10. this song is so good vaporwave, like, just yes. like when i say this hits different, like for real, this hits different. ABBA is always good, but this by far has to be my favorite thing of ABBA music i have ever found. It’s like…
it’s just incredible.
like i said with the ethereal remix of clair de lune, this is like a song that you put on your life, and just look at all the memories and moments that have happened to you.
overall, recommend when you wanna just sit and think for awhile, or maybe make the snap from avengers infinity war sadder
———
and that’s it! i decided that i would just stick to 10, the other ones i have done are about 12, and i just thought it was a good number lol 😂 i hope you guys enjoy these as much as I do, and check out my pinned post to see them all linked on one post :)
lots of spells (& music listening),
moony

Rue: Chapter 3 (A Jasper Hale x OC Imagine)
A play of hide and seek.
Writer's note: I had initially intended for this to be a reader insert piece, but it gets difficult trying to write without a name. So I decided for an OC instead lol
“Welcome to Northern Lights Resort and Spa, how may I help you?” Adeline smiled as she welcomed the next set of guests at the front lobby.
She’d moved to Whitehorse where the city was permanently covered with white snow and blanketed by the night sky more than half of the day. Found a part time job at the local resort, rented a run-down flat in downtown. It was cold and dark and it was everything she needed and loved.
Depression always did look good on her, as Tatiana would say.
But Tatiana would not think to find her here, nor Father, or anyone else for the matter. And she was safe, free to wallow in self pity and self loathing; free to ruminate on every last regret she had.
Thursday nights were reserved for movie nights; the local cinema showed sepia movies every Thursday nights, and it was nostalgic to see Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor and all those stars again on the big screen, she was always addicted to the motion pictures back then.
She even managed to keep a fling on the side. A young college boy with golden curls, though his eyes were not quite the right shade of brown, his were too dark. And she wished he wouldn’t talk so much of his self absorbed art pieces, she’d rather he talked about the literature he should be reading instead. She’d picked a copy of Frankenstein from the local book store again, and he’d only given it a side glance and never returned to it again. But he was a warm embrace in the dead of the night, so she guess she’ll let it pass for now.
Other nights though, she would walk out alone in the reserves, hunting, mesmerised by the Northern Lights, solar winds from the sun meeting this earth’s atmosphere, deflected by the earth's magnetism to become polar lights that twist on itself to form an array of colours. It made her feel small, reminded her that she did not mattered, that nothing mattered.
“Your rooms are on the fifth floor, the lift is just past the lobby on the right. Please enjoy your stay here.” Adeline recited her lines, directing her guests on their right way.
It wasn’t much really, but mundane was good, habits made her feel safe. She’d managed to carve out a little safe haven for herself in this gigantic world.
It was enough for now.
Until she felt the strangest sensation in her chest. It had begun as a dull ache, so insidious she did not notice when it first started. Not long after, the pain began to come in waves, crashing, clenching at her heart so painfully she was starting to sweat. Adeline clawed at her chest. Mumbling an apology, she quickly ran to the back and folded into herself, sweating dropping down her brow as she tried to make the pain go away.
It didn’t feel so much as a physical pain. Nor was it the usual warnings that her instinct whispered. No, it was something else, something more emotional, something more primal.
What was happening?
It felt as if she was reminded of all the things she had lost in her entire existence, all the grief she could not hold. But there was another sharp tug at her heart, urging her to move in some unknown direction, lest she should regret.
The feeling only seemed to intensify as the seconds passed. And then she knew.
It was coming towards her. Whatever it was that her heart sought.
Just as the doors to the resort opened-
Adeline Ruelle did the only thing she was good at.
She ran.
In the exact opposite direction.
*
It took them quite a while to even figure out in which direction she had gone. It had taken Alice an even lengthier time to pinpoint which area she might be, scouring all her visions for a single blindspot. It was near impossible.
Jasper’s anxiety was quickly infecting the whole household; everyone could feel the tension in the air, electrifying. Edward and Bella had to take Renesmee to stay in their little cottage; even Emmett had been quiet for most of the days. Jasper mostly kept to himself in his room, oscillating between two extremes, bouncing on the balls of his feet and sitting hunched in the corner, frozen in his thoughts.
“North.” Alice had finally muttered on the tenth day. “Canada.”
From there on, it was another few weeks before the pair managed to locate their target working in a resort in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada. Tracking her scent, and where the blindspots were appearing, but even that proved difficult. And by the time they had arrived, she had been gone.
Just gone. Her colleagues had no way of knowing where she had suddenly vanished to in the middle of her shift.
They did, however, managed to locate her little flat in downtown.
And possibly a fling or two.
Jasper had simply looked on in distaste at the man, never uttering a single word. Alice was left with the questions.
How long had they known each other? What did she tell him of herself? Did he have any clue where she might go next? On and on and on, which they gleaned pretty much close to nothing for the college boy. Jasper had simply rolled his eyes and stuffed his hands petulantly into his pockets.
Alice though, she did not miss the resemblance the man had with Jasper.
Then they had gone into the flat she had rented. Clearly she had been there before, hastily packing her, possibly, few possessions with her. Except one or two mass paperbacks she had evidently bought to pass time.
Alice watched as Jasper lingered on the little paperback edition of Frankenstein carelessly strewn over the coffee table. Watched as he fingered the cover of the book thoughtfully, then leafed through the pages of the book. When he caught her staring he merely shrugged.
“It was always her favourite.”
She did not miss it when Jasper quietly tucked the book into the pocket of his jacket.
*
“I do know that for the sympathy of one living being. I would make peace with all. I have love in me the likes of which you can scarcely imagine and rage the likes of which you would not believe. If I cannot satisfy the one, I will indulge the other.”
“That’s a little too morbid, wouldn’t you say so darling?”
“On the contrary, I find it exceedingly accurate and befitting.”
“Come now.” He chuckled good-naturedly. “You are not a monster, darlin’.”
“And who’s to say I am not?” She challenged with steel in her eyes.
“Adeline.” He admonished softly, tucking a stray hair behind her ear. “You could never be one.”
“And how would you know? Perhaps it is because I hide my fiendish side behind a mask so masterfully that I have deceived the world, and even you.” She hated the shrillness in her voice, the desperation she tried to conceal.
“Sweetheart, only my heart cannot deceive me. You have bared your heart and soul to me and I have seen, have felt the kindness and love overflowing from your heart. How could a monster possess of such?”
“And if I had committed crimes in my past?”
“Then I know with confidence that it was not out of ill intent on your part.”
“You are too kind, Jasper.”
“Am I now? Come let us read something sweeter darling.”
Adeline pouted. “You know it is only my favourite.”
“And I do not understand your morbid fascination of it.”
Adeline huffed in annoyance and Jasper laughed poking her in the cheek. “That being said.”
“The monster was never truly the monster Adeline. It was always Frankenstein. Remember when he said ‘Life, although it may be an accumulation of anguish, is dear to me, and I will defend it.’”
“He loved life more than anyone else, he possessed the gentlest soul and a deep appreciation to life like no other. He deserved to live, to be loved more than anyone else.”
Adeline blinked in shock at Jasper’s passionate outburst and before she realised, a single tear had rolled down her cheek.
“Adeline?”
She leaned forward and to capture him in a passionate kiss.
*
Adeline awoke with a start. Turning away from the blinding sun, she rubbed her eyes blearily. What time was it even?
Certainly not the 1800s.
Misplaced memories. Huh.
Adeline tried not to let her mind wander back to her dream just now, and certainly not the man of her dream.
It was close to three months after that incident at Whitehorse, She was in Minnesota now, surely no one would think to look for her here. It wasn’t New York or Chicago or Seattle. Nowhere conspicuous, middle of the line, your average American midwestern state. Surely that would provide for some camouflage or something?
No matter.
She had far troubling things to be concerned of right now.
She had been going over it time and again since her flight. The incident at Whitehorse was strange really because in all her existence, she had never once felt that before, the strange pull at her heart. The ache in her chest.
Or not?
Something was goading at her in the back of her mind, to examine the incident closer, to remind her of certain memories she would rather not remember; but she refused to let anything surface.
She picked up her new copy of Fitzgerald - Tender is the Night.
She had a shift at the local bar in three hours. She was determined to be their on time and not go down some damned rabbit hole.
*
“It’s here.” Alice looked to Jasper as he took in the environment, the rain falling softly beside them in the chilly January night; the lights from the bar, the cheap building. She hadn’t yet met the girl, but Adeline sure did know how to blend in, finding the most ordinary of places to hide amongst humans. Places not too obvious, but also not too obscure, where no one would bother to look twice, or even think to look.
Jasper’s face was grim and his eyes set. He was radiating anxiety, probably without meaning to. She gently patted Jasper on the back to soothe him.
“It’s alright, I’ll go in first. You wait here for my signal.”
He only nodded.
Ducking into the threshold she was immediately assaulted by the barrage of lights and noise; it took Alice a few minutes before she caught sight of a head of brown curls at the bar table chatting with her fellow bar tenders, all the while cleaning glasses. She made a beeline for it.
“Adeline Ruelle?”
The girl turned towards her and assumed a businesslike front, ready to serve. But Alice did not miss the small tremor in her shoulders, the uncomfortable shift in position, subtle and quick as it may be.
Bingo.
She was evidently a master in concealing her emotions, her nervousness hidden behind a reassuring smile, anyone would have been fooled. Except Alice. She watched the bartender closely.
“I’m sorry Miss, we don’t have an Adeline here. I’m Cordelia, perhaps I can get you a drink first while you wait for your friend?”
“Bourbon, if you would be so kind.”
“Just a minute.” She turned to get the drink and Alice took her time to appraise the girl.
She really was beautiful. Alice thought. She might be posing as your ordinary college student/part time bartender, but the way she held herself, her grace and poise, it was something she could never lose even on purpose. And the breathtaking beauty, she stuck out like a sore thumb.
It was no wonder Jasper had loved her so completely, irrevocably in his past life. How could any man resist such an alluring woman? She could not be mad at Jasper for his choices in his past life; and judging by his recounts and the hardworking girl right in front of her, neither had anticipated the whirlwind of romance and the subsequent breakup when they first met. In fact she might just be a tad bit jealous of the bond they shared, she’d never in her life experienced something so strong and consuming. Sure she loved Jasper and no one could deny the love that they shared. But it paled in comparison to one the two shared. She was almost sure they were mates.
It still left her heartbroken all the same.
But then she remembered the first time she met Jasper; we’re not mates but if you would have me we could keep each other company until our mates showed up. I mean, two is always better than one right? It left her conflicted now; she was reaping what she had sowed.
Yet as Alice continued to observe the girl closely, she noted how her coworkers seemed to treat her as if she was just any normal college student. Talking to her, bantering lightly, she threw her head and laughed heartily. To them, She was just the right amount of charismatic it seemed. And her smell…
It was then she realised she did not catch ahold of her scent.
Had she concealed it? Could one even do so on voluntary grounds?
“Your bourbon miss.” Adeline returned, sliding a small glass across the bar table.
“So what brings you here, to Minnesota?” Alice decided to make a strike.
The bartender’s face twitched momentarily. “Pardon?”
“You don’t seem like you're from around here. You don’t look like it.”
“I mean, It’s a free country. Anyone can go anywhere really.” Adeline shrugged.
“Lemme guess.” Alice pretended to think all the while observing the other closely. “You’re from the South, aren't you? Like Louisiana, or Texas.”
“I’ve lived there, yes… but then again I’ve lived almost everywhere really.” The bartended shot her a tight-lipped smile, the stiffness in her posture even more profound now. “Well if you need anything just give me a holler will you? I hope your friend finds you soon.”
It was her.
Alice watched as she turned to smile at her coworkers and then ducked into the kitchen.
She was making her escape.
Well, they can't let her go that easily now can they?
Alice raced out of the bar immediately, searching for her companion outside the parking lot.
But she was only left with an empty parking lot as the wind blew and the rain fell harder than ever.

Chapter 5: A "Nice" Place To Stay
Reginald glanced up at the stars, that glittered with the hope he needed to get the clan through this hard time. Righty had left about an hour ago, keeping his promise to Hat Girl about looking for a place to stay. She was currently in one of the tents near a campfire, likely sound asleep as she was dreaming of the fun she could have while here. Having fun with her old friends while the clan worked on getting home.
She had briefly visited to forest before the sun started to set, and apperily that ghost would be coming by tomorrow. A proper introduction of sorts, apperily. Reginald sighed as he glanced at the ground. He wasn't fully sure what to think of the ghost. He seemed to be well-meaning, but Righty stated he couldn't trust him. He tried to explain to him that he was sure nothing bad would happen, but Right Hand Man said he would have to keep an eye out when the ghost was around.
At least he knew Hat Girl and Platinum were safe right now. That's all that mattered. Reginald shifted his position, glancing in the direction of the flames that light up his face slightly. Almost every member was asleep, except for those keeping an eye on the fires. He knew he should be getting to sleep as well, but he couldn't even try without his husband near him. He could hardly ever fall asleep without by his side.
He needed to find better shelter. Ok, one could argue it wasn't exactly a need. Once they got to work fixing the place, it shouldn't take too long for the members to be able to sleep inside. Even if they would be sleeping on the floor, which granted, they were likely to do anywhere else they would stay. But it would feel nice to know they would all have an actual roof over their head. And that some wouldn't miss sleeping to make sure fire didn't spread.
He was starting to debate if he could and should ask her bird friends for help. They were movie drictors after all, maybe they could get them a place to stay? Then again, he didn't want to intrude on their work. There had to be some other option out there for where they could stay. So at least Hattie wouldn't have to worry about the clan's safety. It was his job to worry about that, after all.
Eventually, the familiar rocket sound met his ears. Faint at first, but quickly coming closer. A soft smile formed on his face as he glanced over, seeing the cybrog land about a foot or two away from him. "I was wondering when you would get back."
Right Hand Man looked at him slightly. A small smile formed on his face as he walked up to him, red eye glowing in the dark. He held his hand and pulled him close, brushing some hair out of his face. His own was slightly tangled. "Sorry it took so long, Reg. Went as far as I could tryin' ta find a place."
Reginald chuckled, shaking his head slightly. "It's fine, Righty. As long as you're here, I know everything will be ok." He leaned against the half metal man, looking at him. "Your hair is starting to look a bit tangled. Might have to get the brush out of our room."
Right Hand Man looked at him, chuckling as he shook his head. He didn't only get his mother's hair color, he also had it's fast growth rates as well. He never liked how the long hair looked on him, and always tried to keep it short. Til Reginald mentioned the idea of a ponytail.
Thoughts about hair aside, he glanced at his lover. Normally red in the dark made people look evil, sensiter even. But it just brought a bit of warmth to his face in the dark. He pulled Reginald in slightly, pecking his check. The leader blushed and let out a playful huff, glancing to the side. But his expression soon softened as he glanced back at him. It made him wish they could have stood on the orbital station in earth's orbit, sharing a moment like this.
"So... I looked around a bit." He said, drawing attention back to what was important at that very moment. As much as he would love to stay under the starlight without a care in the world, they couldn't do that forever. Besides, it would be a bit awkward with the others nearby.
"Oh, right." Reginald said, remembering the task at hand. The sight of his husband was enough to make him forget things at times. "Well, did you find anywhere we might be able to stay? Or the kids to be safe at the very least."
"Well, it might be a bit of a squeeze at nig't, but I t'ink it should be able to 'old all of us." the cyborg said with a nod, a relieving smile forming on Reginald's face. He glanced over to the forest, pointing to where Subcon was. "It's t'at way, really deep in."
"Oh, really?" He asked, tilting his head to the side. He glanced at the forest. It was hard to believe something as dead and dreadful as Subcon was connected to something so... normal. You had to get close to the treeline in order to start seeing where the two were connected as one. "Well, at least it's close to someone who knows the area. What did the place look like, are there any repairs we'll need to do?"
"Don't know, it was gettin' cold so once I saw it I just came back 'ere." He shrugged, crossing his arms as he looked at him. He didn't like the idea of living closer to that ghost then they already were. He just seemed like he was going to be trouble later on. Why Hattie even saw him as a friend was something he pondered. "It's near some ot'er 'ouses, w'ich will need lots of repairs for sure, to say t'e least."
"Well, looks like we might get a little Toppat Toptown then." Reginald chuckled, RHM letting out a snort. Whatever made Platinum get these thoughts, Reginald will likely never know. And being the one who programmed him, that was saying a lot. He glanced around to where the others were once again, before glancing at his second in command. "Me and you should leave tomorrow, check out the place for ourselves."
Right Hand Man raised a brow at him slightly, a bit confused by his statement. He glanced in the direction of the woods again, before holding his lover's hand. "Are ya sure, Reg? I'll be fine gettin' a closer look myself. Besides, Hattie and Platinum might try to follow us, and I don't want to risk t'em gettin' 'urt."
"Well we'll leave before they wake up then." Reginald replied, crossing his arms slightly, looking smugly yet playfully at his lover. He understood why Righty was worried, he really did. Hat Girl wasn't as young or small as when she was last here, and those were likely part of the reason she did so well last she was here. "Sven should be well enough to keep an eye on what needs to be done, and Snatcher will be visiting, so he could keep an eye on the two."
"Still don't trust t'at g'ost, but I suppose t'at will help keep 'em safe." Right Hand Man sighed, glancing at the forest. He nodded slightly to himself, this should be fine. He just had to hope Reginald could deal with the cold there.
-------
"And then he just had his goons throw us out!" Hat Girl threw her hands in the air in annoyance, glancing up at the ghost, who was leaning against the large-est rock near the orbital station. Some of the kids let out shocked gasps. "But yeah, the rest of the trip back here was pretty uneventful. We're lucky the camping stuff happened to be in the boat for whatever reason. Would have returned empty handed without it."
"Mr. Jar guy sounds mean.." One of them spoke up.
"I would have just knocked him over if I were you." Snatcher said, adjusting his position so it was clear he was rolling his eyes. He then glanced at the small kiddos around, some still looking at him in interest. He had done his whole 'FOOOOOOOOOOOL' trick when he had arrived there, and while a decent bit of the adults showed fear, the kids didn't for the most part. "Not like the mafia would really miss him anyway."
"Why not?"
"I doubt that would be the case, Snatcher." Hat Girl said, standing up and glancing at the ghost. He was one of the few things that truly allowed her to feel nostalgic, as his towering from still give the illusion she was a child by height alone. She still missed those days sometimes, being young and carefree. "The mafia may not be smart, but if there's one thing they are, it's loyal. He likely would have been replaced by now if no one would have missed him."
Snatcher let out a huff. "Fair, I suppose."
"Sorry Snatcher, I don't think you're going to be getting his soul anytime soon." She giggled, smiling up at him. To think at one point she shivered in fear at his presence. She sighed and glanced around. She didn't wish to show it, but she was worried. "I wonder where Dad and Papa are, haven't seen them since last night. Platinum would be back here by now if he found them."
"Excuse me, Snatcher!" Esmae called to the ghost, who turned his attention to the child. They were one of the bravest of the kids when they first saw him. They had the gall to call him a snake as well. If it wasn't a child who he didn't have under contract, he would likely have slapped them.
"Why hello down there! Tell me, have you been studying law for what crimes you will commit in the future?" He asked the ginger haired child. "Like I know stealing items is what you Toppats mostly do, but imagine all the other possibilities. You could smuggle endangered animals for one!"
"Well, Hat Girl told us you were really powerful. Like, you could teleport and other cool things!" The child raised their hands in the air, as if trying to prove a point of sorts. Snatcher couldn't help but let out a chuckle at the child's amusement. He was honestly starting to question why he'd gotten that one book. "But we really haven't seen you use any of them. Can you show us a trick you can do?"
"Yeah, show us!" Marybeth called, so loud that Quiney could be seen shaking his head in the faint distance, likely letting out a chuckle.
"Well..." He taped his finger against his 'chin' "I suppose I can show you one." With a smile, he got off the rock, and raced to the ground at quick speeds. He dove into the ground, and for a moment, all was still. The children glanced at the spot, curiosity growing. Suddenly, a new figure popped from that spot. It shared the same shape as Platinum, but with Snatcher's purple color and yellow eyes. "How about that?"
The children let out awes, as Hat Girl giggled, glancing behind her. "Hey Platinum!" she called.
It was at that convent time the topbot was leaving the station. "Yeah?" He called, racing over to the group. He stopped as soon as his copy entered his sight, looking a bit surprised and amazed. He raised an arm, and Snatcher copied his movement. The kids giggled as Platinum kicked his foot, Snatcher acting fast to appear to be a mirror of sorts. The Topbot chuckled. "Well hello there handsome."
"Right back at You!" The Phantom Chuckled, shaking his head.
"Oh god, there's two..." Sven's comment could be heard, groaning as Calla chuckled beside him. She had been staying by his side all day, making sure he didn't do more work than what was needed of him. That had always been a small habit of his, as if he was worried he needed to do more for the clan. He let out a sigh slightly. "How are we going to be able to fix all this? Especially with that chaos maker."
"Platinum's not that bad, Sven." Calla mentioned, shaking her head.
"Snatcher isn't either. Well, outside his forest at least." Hat Girl mentioned, chuckling as the two look-alikes kept playing their mirror game. She was happy that Snatcher seemed to be getting along well with everyone. Well, everyone who bother trying to learn about the ghost anyway. She glanced back at the third in command. "Hey, I was wondering, did you happen to know where Dad and Papa are?"
"Weren't they going to look at that one house in the woods?" Calla asked.
"Yeah... sounds like it's creepy. But if it has room for us, I suppose it will be fine." Sven sighed, as Hat Girl tilted her head to the side. She didn't recall any houses in subcon. The few she did were near the one time rift, unless... "It's in a more wintery place of the woods. About three stories high apparently. Might be something we'll need to fix up, but should have ro-... are you ok?"
Hat Girl's skin was almost as white as snow. No... they couldn't have. She just wanted Papa to find a safer place for the clan. But now her dads might be joining Vanessa's collection of lost souls. In a way, it felt like her own soul belonged to the manor. She had to shake herself out of her frozen state, before racing to the group of kids. "Snatcher, Platinum! We need to go save Dad and Papa!"
"Huh?" Platinum said, tilting his head to the side as his sister passed, garbing the phantom's hand and pulling him with her. He looked over at Sven, who was just as confused, before shurrging and following the two. The forest started blocking the sunlight, so Hat Girl could tell when Platinum caught up when orange reflected ageist her skin. "Wait, why do we need to save them again? Or at all."
"Yeah, and no offense, but why are you pulling me along with you?" Snatcher asked, tilting his head to the side.
"Well, for one my memory is fuzzy of your ex's house, so I need someone who likely remembers it better than I can." She said, and she could have sworn the ghost's hand went colder once those words left her mouth. Purple entered her sight as they entered the subcon she dreamt of returning to for years. "Besides, if the worst comes, we need a distraction."
"T-That's not really needed, kiddo! I-I'm sure you and Platinum can handle things there all by yourself." The Phantom chuckled worriedly, him turning back into his true from in an attempt to slow her down or let go of his arm. She could tell by tone alone he was worried, scared.
"Well, I'm guessing since Snatcher is having a bit of a panic attack from the look of things, that this really isn't a nice place to stay?" Platinum asked, tilting his head to the side slightly. Oh. He had no idea. "Also, Snatcher has an ex? Didn't really take him to be a romantic type. Although since again, he's having a panic attack, I guess she wasn't the nicest person? I don't know, I'm not programmed that way."
"Well.... If you take the N out of nice, then yes, both she and the place are 'nice'" Hat Girl said.
As if on cue, they came across the bridge that led to the coldest part of the forest. "Oh... Ice.. Don't tell me this is some freaking horror version of frozen."
"Look, It's not cuz I'm scared or anything, but you two can handle this by yourselfs." Snatcher huffed, Hat Girl finally letting of as she garbed Platinum's hand, carefully hoping over the gap in the bridge peices.
"So you just admitted you're scared." Hat Girl asked, walking up to the purple wall. She brought out her umbrella, taking a slight glance around. Weren't there four frozen Dwellers here? Or was it just her memory not fully working? She shrugged it off, smacking the bell with the umbrella. She glanced back at the phantom as she walked over. "It's fine, really. Me and Platinum, the brave ones, will just handle it ourselves."
Snatcher let out a low growl, before sighing. "I'm not getting out of this, am I?" He said, following after her.
"Nope!" Hat Girl, glancing in front of her slightly. The floating blocks of magic she would use the dweller mask on were still there. However, the wall she would need to use said blocks to pass now had a large hole in it. Looked freshly melted. "Papa must have used his lazer eye in order to get them past it. Must have been planning ahead of time for when the clan would come."
"Which is not happening, I guess." Platinum said, letting out a shiver as he hop threw the hole. Why he was programmed to somewhat be able to feel hot and cold, he'll never know. He glanced at Snatcher slightly, who seemed to be shaking from a cold he couldn't feel. "Hey, it's alright."
"Nothing involving that old grimstone is alright." Snatcher stated, his trembling getting more noticeable as they kept heading to his old home. His old cell. It was a cell long before they day he was chained up in the cellar. It was sad it took that to realize him and Vanessa weren't meant to be together. "You'll be lucky if we don't find your parents dead. Even luckier if you can get out of it alive."
"Hey, as long as you let me use my hats this time, it should be a piece of cake!"
"Please use them." Snatcher turned his attention away from the purple hatted child, and shrinked a bit as the manor relieved itself from the fog. Every lit up window was like an eye staring into his being. The brown walls looked ready to keep them locked up forever. He was shivering as memories filled his head. "I'll find a way to turn your walls into bacon one day, 'old friend'." He hissed slightly.
Hat Girl shook her head, beginning to head to the back.
"It doesn't look that scary, I don't really see what the big deal is!" Platinum shrugged, kicking at the snow slightly. "Besides, me and Hattie played a couple of horror games in the past. Well, 'horror' in question marks." He chuckled. "Like, how can you be scared of an 8-bit plush bunny."
"You say, having only watch videos of that game." Hat Girl chimed, ignoring the huff her brother made in response. She soon found the entrance to the cellar, throwing it open and beginning to head down. Snatcher hesiated. "Come on!" Hat Girl called, and the ghost flouted down slowly.
The scent of death and beer met the group's noses, as the two with feet made splashes in the achola all over the floor. "Well, good thing I'm waterproof." Platinum said, kicking some beer over at Hat Girl. She let out a chuckle, although she tried to keep it quiet. Drawing attention to herself was the last thing she wanted to do. "Well, where's the entrance to the actual place? Cuz I doubt Dad and Pops are down here."
Snatcher was going his best to avoid looking at the wall with chains. "Yea... hopefully the place is unlocked."
"Looks like it is." Hat Girl said, pushing open the door and beginning to tip-toe up the stairs. She never thought she would have to step foot in here again. And although she was putting on a brave face, her heart was shivering in fear. But she had to be the brave one here, partly to annoy Snatcher, but mostly to insure their own survival. "We need to be quiet, and I mean that, Platinum. Don't get any ideas."
The Topbot rolled his eyes as they entered the first floor. "Yeah yeah, fine. I'll just be chillin' here..." He glanced over at a strange shaped ice statue. "Like that statue over there. I'll say, Snatcher, your Ex is one good ice sculpture. Looks so realistic."
"Platinum. That's a corpse. Someone she frozen alive." Snatcher and Hat Girl looked at each other, before the later cracked a slight chuckle as the perfect timing. Snatcher glanced back at the body, Hat Girl's chuckling stopped. He wondered if the souls were still aware in there? If they were even there at all. "Honsently, a lot of these people weren't even contractors. They just snuck in for the heck of it."
Platinum glanced at the dead body."Ok, yeah... Forzen but it's a horror movie, forgot." Worry entered his eyes slightly, but he still rolled said the orange orbs. "But dead bodies around the place is just a horror trope. All we have to do is ignore them, find Dad and Pops, and we'll be fine-" Lighting struck outside, and he screamed in pure terror, hiding behind Hat Girl in a split second.
"What was that for?!" Snatcher scolded the cowering topbot.
"He has astraphobia" Hat Girl quickly whispered. "Apparently he was struck by lightning once before he became 'Platinum', and the fear stuck with him ever since."
Before Platinum had the chance to try and defend himself for being rightfully afraid of those demons in the shape of zig-zag lines, another striked as the doors in front of them swung open. "WHO'S THERE!?" that haunting voice screamed, as the black and red form stomped one foot outside the room. Snatcher felt his soul shutter as those red eyes locked onto him. "YOUR DAYS MESSING AROUND MY HOME ARE OVER. BOW TO ME!" A hand reached out...
"RUN!" Hat Girl shouted, racing down the hall with Platinum's hand. Snatcher didn't need to be told, already darting to the room that would lead him upstairs. He could hear her screams as she began to chase. He wouldn't be trapped by her again!
Once the only sound he could hear was his own breathing, he stopped, putting a claw hand on the wall as he caught his breath. Well, not really, as he didn't need to breath, but it felt like he did at that very second. He was more powerful than her... he thought so at least. He should have tried to end her right then and there but... the risk was too great... at least she didn't seem to know he was her prince...
"Well, this is why I didn't want to come here. I hope you two are happy for getting us in a cat and mouse game." He crossed his arms with a huff.
The two didn't answer... he couldn't even hear Hat Girl's breath. "Kiddo?" He glanced down... they weren't there. He glanced around the hall, a bit confused. He wanted to call out, but didn't want attention to be drawn to himself. They must have gotten split up when the ice witch appeared... worry stepped into his non-existing heart. They were her prey now, likely in a corner, holding onto their breaths in order to not be noticed...
He should just go. Hat Girl survived the manor once before. She could easily do it again. Platinum was a questionable case, but he seemed to have some brain cells. Snatcher only went into the manor once each year, to grab any dwellers or minions that got too close to the place. And when he did that a month back, there were no living souls making his job harder... but what if Hat Girl got killed? Why did he care?
Was it because she represented a child he could never have? Was it because the feeling of someone being able to outsmart him, something that made him admire the strange girl. Was it because of how she took his Death Wishes with stride? Once he wanted her dead, but now he couldn't imagine afterlife without her, especially now that she was back. He grabbed his head. Ignore these feelings! She'll be dead and gone sooner or later anyway! Just get out of here before Vannessa-
A small knock. Followed by footsteps. He glanced over, seeing something had been knocked over near the stairs that lead to the third floor. He floated over, tilting his head to the side slightly. He was faintly able to see the imprints of footsteps on the carpet. At first he hope they were Hat Girl's, but they were much too small. They looked like they belonged to a child... but he hadn't recalled any living child in his forest And they were fresh... almost too fresh.
He had done a head count of his minions that morning, so he knew it couldn't be one of them. They knew better by now not to go near the manor anyway, well, most of them did. He brought his hand down, tracing the footprint slightly. Something felt... off about it. It was like whatever made it was something he knew before, held before... but that was impossible... He glanced back to where the stairs he raced up were. Where the others likely were...
He took a breath before being to float up. It felt like something was calling him... He had to know what it was... Hat Girl and Platinum could survive a few minutes on their own... right?

Jimi Somewhere Dives Into an Angelic, Crisis of Faith on Latest Single "Jesus" [Q&A]
Tumblr media
Jimi Somewhere is the brainchild of Benjamin Schandy, a 22-year-old artist hailing from Hokksund, a charming town in Norway. Jimi Somewhere's music is influenced by the imaginative work of renowned filmmaker Spike Jonze and the outstanding artistry of Kendrick Lamar, Kevin Abstract, and Frank Ocean. Jimi ties his contemplative lyrics with frenzy electro-pop, ornate hip-hop beats, trippy pop, and multi-layered vocals to produce his very own signature resonance.
Today, Jimi Somewhere shares his new single "Jesus” off his forthcoming debut LP, Nothing Gold Can Stay. We caught up with Somewhere for a quick Q&A about the track's grandiose and "larger than life" feel and the inspiration he pulled from the Christian summer camps he attended growing up.
Ones to Watch: This song has a very spiritual tone and is named after a spiritual figure. It sounds like throughout the song, the main character is going on a spiritual journey or crisis of faith. What is this song about to you, and how did this song come to be?
Jimi Somewhere: A crisis of faith is a good way to put it. That's what it's about to me: faith, doubt, and values. I grew up and out of the church myself, and after I stopped going, I kind of had to reflect on which one of these values to bring along with me in life. There was a lot I was taught in church that I didn't agree with, but then again, a lot of it is just about empathy and humanity. But I needed to have space to figure that out for myself without having any voices in my ears. That's what inspired me to write the song. I was just so frustrated with everything and needed to breathe. Music is also very therapeutic for me. I use it to get it all off my chest.
What was the creative process like for the single? What made you want to go for this very omnipresent, iridescent sound for the track? Were you inspired by anything in particular?
We kind of wanted it to sound like these Christian songs that we would hear at various summer camps growing up. They always had this "larger than life" feeling. You're in the crowd singing, and you feel like you are a part of this big thing. That's what we're chasing. A Hillsong type beat. Only felt right considering the themes on the song. Other inspirations for the song is Coldplay's early stuff, which has been very important to me. The emotional but pretty sadness they often present.
youtube
Do you consider yourself a spiritual person?
I'm not sure. I don't think so. I can, for sure, say I feel very connected though. Like I'll be in nature, and I'll take it all in. But on a day to day basis, I wouldn't say I'm very spiritual. It's something I'd like to dive more into as I'm getting older because I believe the universe is bigger than just us and what you see.
I found myself deeply connecting with a lot of the lyrics, especially the line "I've never met Jesus, but you're the closest to Heaven I've ever come." Do you have a favorite lyric from this track or one that speaks to you? What is your approach when it comes to songwriting?
"For everything I never told my mother, always comes back to get me" is a line I really like. Because it's so true to me. Every time I go against my mother's advice, it ends up negatively affecting my life. So listen to your mothers! They do know best.
Songwriting to me is just kind of throwing up. Just everything I have pent up inside. I don't want to overthink it because if it becomes too conscious, it's usually not that good. The best stuff just falls out.
Kacy Hill's voice is so stunning and perfectly compliments the sonic chaos when she comes in halfway through the song. What was working with her like, and how did she get involved with this single?
Working with her was so sick. She's literally the sweetest person. I've been a massive fan of her for many years and suddenly found out I had a mutual friend. So after bugging him to ask her to come to the studio, she did! I was so embarrassed the first time she came to record but because suddenly our audio interface didn't work. We got all sporadic and were trying to fix it but couldn't. I was thinking like she would hate us for wasting her time and that we blew our shot. But she was so nice about it and came back the next week.
She really just went into the studio and did that. Me and Milo were in the other room, shaking and jumping around. It sounded crystal clear and angelic from the jump. I think her verse brings this comfort and hope that the song was missing. Because it's not all bad, you know. There's light at the end of every tunnel. It was important to me to have that emphasized in the song, and she did that perfectly.
I know "Jesus" is a single coming off of your upcoming Nothing Gold Can Stay. How does it fit into the album overall?
It's one of the first songs on the album, and I thought it would be cool to open an album with such an honest track. Keep the book open from the beginning. The album is also me reflecting on all these things ending in my life. During the ages of 16 - 20, there's a lot of moving out, losing friends, growing up, graduating high school, etc. Faith & wanting a sense of belonging has been a big part of my life during those years so it was important to me to talk about it on the album.
Tumblr media
What can people expect to hear from the new LP? I'm sure there's only so much you can share about the album and want to keep a lot of it as a surprise for your fans. Can they expect the same emotional, nostalgic, summery themes from your previous work, or do you feel like you're going in a different direction? Or is Nothing Gold Can Stay going to be a healthy mix of something old and new?
There's for sure a lot the same themes as in the previous work. This is my debut album, so we wanted to make it as "Jimi Somewhere" as possible. Everything else has been building up to this, so we weren't afraid of being a little cliche with it. I just think that's fun. There's definitely some new directions on it as well though. Both sonically and thematic. We never want two projects or songs to sound the same.
Has the pandemic effected you or inspired you as an artist? If so, how?
It just gave us time to create a lot. I live with my producer, so when lockdown happened, we kinda were like, "Ok, let's just be here and work!" We've made so many songs this year. I also got to add that I live in Norway, and we handled it all pretty well in the beginning, so life has been a lot more normal here than what it looks like in the States.
Once the world comes to a state of a new normal, what's the first thing you want to do?
Go back to America! I had so many plans before the pandemic, so I'm trying to make them all happen once I can. But it's just not safe, yet so I'll stay on this side of the ocean until then.
When shows and concerts are back, who do you want to see, and who do you want to tour or play with?
I was supposed to see Taylor Swift live this summer, but it, of course, got canceled. Hopefully, I'll get another chance next year. Just so cool to see such a big production. There's always that dream of doing stadium shows in the future, so I would be in the crowd taking notes. I'm also a huge Taylor Swift fan, so it's the best of both worlds.
Dream tour would be with Lorde because she's been such a big influence on me, and I love her live show. Would not mind hearing 'Writer in the dark' live 30 nights in a row. I also feel like I could learn so much from her. She's only a couple years older than me but seems so wise. So yeah, Lorde, I'm here if you need me just call!
Who have you been listening to throughout the pandemic? Are there any Ones To Watch?
I've been going through so many phases. I had this big Jill Scott phase, where I just listened to "The Light" on repeat all day. Watched this movie "Weathering with you" and got obsessed with the soundtrack. When it comes to Ones to Watch, I wanna recommend this Norwegian band Veps. They're completely new, but my friend sent me their music during quarantine, and it's so good. My favorite song, "Do I Hear a Maybe," is this really sweet, garage rock track with a big hook that I've been screaming around the apartment ever since I heard it. Very fire.

After all this time? Always. - Miss_VanessaVanjie
Oh, hi, hello, good evening! I couldn't stop thinking about this idea so I had to write it! (I swear I'm working on the next chapter of Scandal, I swear.)
I can't thank hy_jinkx enough for being such an amazing person and an incredible beta! I wouldn't be able to do it without her and I'm forever grateful for it. Like I always say: I don't deserve you loll ❤
Oh, I almost forgot! I'm taking prompts and any ideas you guys have about this "verse" or even scandal! You can find me as hi-yekaterina on Tumblr! ❤
I hope you enjoy!
Chapter 1 - Two ghosts
He couldn’t bring himself to stop staring.
Jose was an amazing performer and he knew that, having seen him perform countless times, but this show was different. Just like his mother always said to him when they went shopping, he could look but couldn’t touch.
Jose wasn’t his anymore. And Brock was okay with that, he really was.
It was just difficult to remember he was okay with not having him anymore when they were like this. In the same space, breathing the same air.
Somehow, Steve had convinced him to come to Vanjie’s last show at Werq the World in Chicago. Not that this had taken Steve a lot of effort. Brock wasn’t blind. He had seen the posts about Jose’s performance, the videos of him dancing.
The videos of his and Kameron’s interactions. But that part he was pretending not to see. He knew well how wild the fans can get, and there probably wasn’t anything but friendship.
And that was why he was there that night, in the 5th row right in the middle. He needed to be noticed, needed him to see he was there. That he still cared.
They were still friends, of course. But Brock wasn't truly a part of Jose's life anymore. He wasn’t the first person he texted in the morning, or the first one to know what he was doing. Fuck, he didn’t even knew about the Fenty Beauty show until he saw him in the after party he went to with Cara.
They didn’t talk there. Jose was busy flirting with other guys, not doing much, other than nodding his head and smiling politely when he saw Brock. It wasn't until the next day that he saw the photobombing, and... yeah, Brock was mad.
But he wasn’t jealous. He wasn’t.
So why did this still hurt like a motherfucker? Why did not knowing Jose was there still bother him so much?
Brock was brought back to reality when he heard Asia say, “I think you should introduce the next queen Kam. Cause, well... you two are pretty close, aren’t you?”
Brock saw the little smile Kameron was giving and he knew who the next queen was. He was used to this tone Asia was using with Kameron, because he used to be close to the same queen. Damn, he used to love her.
Used to?
“Shut up Asia,” Kameron said between giggles. “The next queen is leaving the tour today too, just like me. She’s the most hard working person I know, the loudest, biggest smart mouth and the person with the most beautiful smile I’ve ever seen, make some noise for Vanessa Vanjie Mateo!”
Brock was there, but his mind made everything seem like a movie, like he was living in slow motion. He saw the big simile Kameron gave to the audience, the way Asia cackled, heard the crowd scream Vanessa’s name. But he couldn’t focus on anything but what Kameron said. Couldn’t think about anything else other than what it could possibly mean.
And then Vanessa was on the stage. The crowd went insane, as always. They loved him, always had and probably always would. Damn, sometimes Brock forget how good Jose looked in drag, how pretty his new mug was, how good his outfits were.
Sometimes Brock forgot that Jose wasn’t his anymore.
Then Vanessa was hugging Kameron, just like she used to do to Brock himself. Kameron was laying his head on top of Vanessa’s, and Brock couldn’t help but feel nostalgic. He knows that feeling. Knows how tight Vanessa’s arms used to be around his waist, or how they used to hold hands before going on stage.
Knows how Vanessa would always watch him perform and how he would always do the same. How after the show Vanessa would always say how good he was, how he’s the best performer she had ever seen and Brock would always think how wrong she was. Because not even once in his life had Brock seen someone perform with the same passion Jose had. Had never seen someone else with so much love for his job. Brock had never met someone like him before. Had never loved someone like him before.
Had never lost someone like him before.
“Brock?” He heard Steve before being able to look him properly. “Everything okay?”
“Great. I’m great,” he said. “Are we’re going backstage to talk to the girls?”
“Actually no, they’re going to an afterparty. Jason asked if we wanted to come.”
“Oh sure, of course. I, um... Jose is coming?”
He saw the way Steve reacted to his question. Saw the way he looked at him, saw the understanding and the pity. Steve knew Brock better than himself and Brock was aware of that. There’s no point in lying to him, to pretend he didn’t see right through him. To pretend he didn’t know how Jose makes him feel after one year.
“So we’re calling him by his name now? Wow,” Steve joked. “Yeah, he’s coming.”
And that was all Brock needed to know.
******
This was probably one of the worst nights out that Brock had ever had.
It wasn't like something bad had happened. If he was being totally honest, nothing had happened at all. And that was the problem.
They were in the same city, in the same place at the same time and that used to be enough.
But all of a sudden it wasn't.
Usually in situations like this, Jose would be all over him, his body pressed against Brock's, lips attached to his ears saying how much he had missed him.
But not that night. No.
Brock didn't go backstage after the show, he couldn't. Not without Steve's judgemental look, or without possibly seeing something he wasn't prepared for.
So he went to the club. He waited.
He almost started to think Jose wasn't going to come, almost thought Steve lied to him.
And then the door flew open and Brock saw him. And it wasn't fair.
Wasn't fair how fucking good he looked, how his fucking shorts made him look even skinnier, or how confidently he carried himself through the room, almost like he owned it, like he owned every single person there.
It wasn't fair how much Brock missed him.
Brock waited for him to come closer, to make some move to at least recognize Brock's existence. But nothing came. Brock wasn't the first person he looked for in the club anymore.
And that didn't hurt him. Didn't hurt him at all. And that was what he kept telling himself, repeating over and over that it didn't hurt, despite his stomach sinking, or the way his heart ached. Because it didn't hurt. It shouldn't.
He watched from the corner as Jose talked with everyone. Everyone but him. Saw him playing around and acting a fool with the dancers, shouting and laughing with Kameron and the other queens. Being happy.
If you asked Brock, he probably would have said that it took almost a decade for Jose to come any closer to him. But it could possibly have been just a minute. He couldn’t be precise in that moment. He was biased.
But Jose finally came closer to where Brock and Plastique were talking. He looked so beautiful that Brock couldn't take his eyes off of him.
"I didn't know you were coming," was the first thing he said. Jose didn't look pissed, he looked curious almost confused.
They looked at each other for a couple of seconds, that if Brock was being honest felt like hours, before he closed the gap and pulled Jose into a hug.
And God, he missed him so fucking much.
"I'm taking a break so I thought about coming to see yo- to see the show," was all Brock managed to say, still holding him.
"I hope you enjoyed it," Jose said, ending the hug. Brock had never felt more empty. "I have to go now, Kamy is waiting for me on the dance floor. We gonna make them eat it!"
And he left.
All throughout the night Brock couldn't bring himself to stop staring, to stop feeling the dizziness in his stomach. Couldn't bring himself to stop feeling jealous.
Sometimes he forgot Jose wasn't his anymore.
Jose seemed fine. Happy. He was acting really cool, dancing, grinding on Kameron. Drinking, taking pictures, smiling and whispering who knows what in Kameron's ears. Brock knew those signs.
Brock knew how Jose acted when he started to feel some type of way - he couldn’t say “fall in love,” he just couldn’t - with somebody. He saw it happen with him, rewatched it almost one year later. He knew the signs.
And that was why it hurt even more. Because he knew, and this time, those signs had nothing to do with him.
He wasn’t the person Jose direct his flirting tones toward, nor his big dazzling smile. He wasn’t the person responsible for that face he always made when he wants a kiss or a hug. He wasn’t Jose's anymore.
And Brock wasn't used to it.
Sure he was "dating" now - if you could call regularly sleeping with the same person dating. He was a nice guy, love animals, was calm and predictable. Brock wasn't going to wake up and find out he got a fucking tattoo on his chest because he was drunk and really loved cats. He was a safe option.
But Brock missed the craziness. Missed the way he never knew what was going to leave Jose's mouth, never knew what he was going to do next.
But most importantly, he missed Jose.
The Jose only Brock got to know. The soft version that always said I love you before ending a call because "you're old imagine if one day you wake up and forget who am I like that fucking movie, I'm just preparing myself."
The one who knew Brock's favorite type of food, knew his fears, his dreams. Knew how Brock's anxiety got the best of him sometimes.
He missed the little things too. Like how well their hands fit together. How tiny Jose was and how he hated when somebody mentioned that, but would blush every time Brock called him “my tiny toes.”
Brock missed Jose more than he was proud to admit. And that was why he was following Jose's every move, was watching everything he did.
And that was why he was going to the bathroom now. Because he needed to talk to him. Needed to explain.
When he opened the door, he saw Jose standing there, back to the mirror. Almost as if he was waiting for him.
And Brock thought that he probably was.
"What the fuck are you doing, Brock?" Was the first thing Jose said, and Brock thought that getting shot would probably hurt less.
"What do you mean? I just went to the bathroom." Brock forced a smile.
"You fucking know what I mean. Coming here, watching the fucking show like it's nothing. Like we didn't talk to each other since that shit show that was the Branjie show." Jose almost shouts, and Brock was almost happy, because that was the closest he came from feeling like he still cared, like the Jose he used to know was still there.
"And like it wasn't enough, so you come to the after party, looking at me all the time like I personally kicked Apollo and Henry," Jose said. "What are you doing here? For real this time."
"I don't know, okay? I just really wanted to see you. I miss you, J. I fucking miss you. And seeing you flirting with Kameron fucking pissed me off." It was Brock's turn to shout. "How can you do this? Acting like that in front of everybody? In front of me! That fucking hurts me."
Jose looked at Brock like he had grown a second head or something, like what he just said didn't make any sense to him.
Like Brock was a stranger.
"I'm not your boyfriend, ya know? I'm not a tall Canadian zoo guy or the fuck he does for a living," Jose finally spoke, "I'm the one you kicked after my birthday. The one you said on national television wasn't enough, that I made you feel tied down, the one that scared you and that made you realize you had 'commitment issues'. So you for sure shouldn't care about who I kiss, or who I flirt with. You never did, why start now?"
And then he walked away.
Bock wanted to say something. Anything. Tell him that he was wrong, that he was enough, more than enough. He was everything Brock thought he would never have and everything he thought he didn't deserve.
He wanted to say something. Shout, cry, beg for forgiveness. But for the first time he didn't know what to say. Didn't know how to make him stay, because all throughout Brock’s life, Brock was the one that walked away, the one that ended things. He had never had to do this before, had never felt so lonely and hopeless.
He had never lost someone like Jose before.

In Another World: Japan 2019
Maybe to love is to learn – and learning Japan for quite some time is just beautiful with all its chaotic yet fulfilling desire at heart.
December is the season for family and friends and having to spend it another country again is different – a very memorable one. It is such a good grace of embracing new culture from a 5 hour trip  away from home – living a temporary life, what it’s like to live in a world where everything seemed to be provided. The place itself is an art, where you can experience the calmness of the streets although I had to enjoy the freezing weather in which I was forced to wear almost four layers of clothing, including multiple heat packs to keep us going along the way. Nevertheless, Japan has its own way of welcoming you to the best possible ways it could offer, making exceptional memories of more than a dream.
Tumblr media
Japan is in the top of my bucket list yet the very least to make it happen when I was younger. Given that it’s expensive, it requires you to apply for visa in which chosen people are only given the opportunity to process it. Maybe timing wasn’t for us then hence watching anime films was an alternative way to feel it. Japanese characters itself with perfectly triangular shaped faces used to be my hidden desire, like there’s something mystical about their personalities. And maybe timing could be right too. It could be right when the High Power allows you – specifically when you’re ready.
I have no idea what to hate in a place where it appears to be perfect. Utopia, as what they say. I went with a group of twenty people with various ages and personalities so there were two things that needed to be considered in this trip; to conform and to be patient. I have watched some documentaries, travel vlogs, and even movies like Hachiko to prepare myself with an expectant heart.
Tumblr media
From there, I know Japan would lead us to wander and be lost.
Upon arriving in Japan, our group was picked up by huge sized black colored van including drivers who were definitely dressed well with their coat and tuxedo. We were late. And there is something wrong with that. It’s a bad Impression for Japanese people to be late since time is valuable – unless you have reasonable excuses. The tension was starting to fire up so I decided to apologise. The family did too. During the one-hour travel from Narita Airport to the first place where we stayed, I was mesmerized. The overwhelming emotions from visual presentations turned into reality. Maybe this is love, like seeing a person for the first time letting your head turn into 360.
Fallen leaves, chirping crows, and whistling of the winds. So this is winter – I have never felt this in my life. It surprised me as I was enjoying the giant automatic buildings. We toured several of Tokyo’s places, all of which had their own unique culture.
Tumblr media
I experienced the towering skyscrapers and offices of Shinjuku and the shopping and pop culture of Harajuku. I learned how diverse Tokyo was: three blocks from the Tokyo Skytree, an observation tower that symbolizes Japan’s cutting-edge technology; Asakusa, an ancient Buddhist shrine where people prayed under enormous red lanterns and burnt incense for their ancestors. I noticed that this dramatic juxtaposition between the old and the new is what most characterized Japan: pop culture and technology contrasted yet blended with traditional customs and culture. While polar opposites of each other, these two aspects of Japan coexisted in perfect harmony. I believe that harmony sends an important message: you do not need to disregard the old in order to embrace the new. It is possible to honor and accept both.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And the bikes were electronic. I grew up learning how to ride a bike but never got the chance to do it in Japan. Maybe if I was just a solo traveler, I could use it to explore the clean roads.
Tumblr media
Every train is a safe space.
With Haruki Murakami’s novel Colorless Tsukuru Tazaki and His Years of Pilgrimage, fragments of imagination have conveyed my emotions to become a fan of train stations. I have seen some parts of myself through Tsukuru, how darkness made him feel as an empty person, lacking in color and identity. He was real to me. From millions of people that passed through me, he could’ve been there. That’s when I started to love the train stations even more.
They are always on time– and of course, a delay of even just one minute will result in profuse apologies from the conductor. Train stations are always staffed with employees who are ready to answer your questions and do so very well. Though we weren’t able to ride city buses, I believe they’re also great though I wasn’t sure if we can pay their fares with the same card we used to ride the train.
I have seen people coming in and out of the trains, like every person has its own story of why they needed to ride the train. On Tuesday, I remember some old man trying to stop his son from crying. On Friday night, I smelled ginger flavored beer from Japanese employees who just got off from work from Shibuya station. I liked the smell, it didn’t make me feel that I was in danger. Probably weekends are for Filipinos, like Saturday, who came all the way from Grandberry mall outlet to purchase almost half price of some original brands that are dying for.
Tumblr media
It is just solely convenient. There were convenience stores that are open 24 hours a day and you can simply find one just about anywhere. We found some food, basic toiletry items and magazines. Another thing that’s a go-to in Japan is the vending machines. Vending machines are even more common than convenience stores, and you can find one by just walking a block or two. Most of them just sell drinks like water, coffee, tea, juice and soda. They’re usually quite cheap (100 yen at the cheapest), and you can get them hot in the winter or cold in the summer.
I personally bought drinks from vending machines almost all the time and they were worth it. And the food, oh the food. Japanese don’t have the highest life expectancy in the world for no reason. Never in my life have I tasted the best apple pie in the world until Japan let me. From its first bite down to last, it was beyond my ultimatum. No words could express it.
Tumblr media
Even so with Ramen after a whole exhausting day, the warm soup with its perfect texture of noodles satisfied us. I believe that every food regardless if it’s in the streets or in a luxurious restaurant was served with love. They would want to make you feel like you deserve to be well treated with a quality of food that they could offer you.
Tumblr media
Some things in life are too complicated to explain in any language but in Japan, it has brought me to both --- tranquility and complexity. The demeanor of place demanded me to breathe. It gave me the power of wanting to be alone, looking back to nostalgic feelings that I felt and decisions I have made in my life.
Until another Utopian world took me to the fun and excitement part --- Tokyo’s Disneysea, the most brilliant story world’s ever created: a living ode to Walt Disney’s love for storytelling, world-building, and lovable characters. You see, Disney isn’t just made of Story Worlds – it’s also a story world in itself, and its star is Mickey remains the most iconic character ever drawn. Mickey belongs exclusively to the world of Disney; his presence invokes the idea that all of these smaller story worlds are part of something bigger, something uniquely magical. Mickey Mouse is the linchpin to the whole operation. He’s the reminder that Disneyland is more than the sum of its parts – it’s an experience unto itself.
Tumblr media
Ultimately, the story of Disney sea is the story of my visit. My presence with my family defines the day; we get to pick rides and shows. Disney Park will always be an “open world,” where you explore, collect things, and meet characters in whatever sequence you choose.
Tumblr media
Until sooner I realized we have one more day left to pack things and luggage. Items that were bought in Japan were already sort out, from gadgets to food, fridge magnets and even branded shoes. My mom had to buy another big trolley to maximize all the stuff so we could all bring home the goodies.
Just before the plane took off from Narita airport, I met an amazing couple from Japan. The lady’s Filipina, Marissa Suzuki, who’s married to a Japanese and been living in Japan for 30 years. The old man, Mr. Nori Suzuki, was 20 years older than her, had 2 children who were left at home. I was sitting from the window seat trying to calm myself from my episodic anxiety. The first thing she asked me was if there’s any book to read while waiting. I told her that there were just couple of magazines but probably wouldn’t satisfy her husband. It was a budget airline. She was hardly putting her bags on the bin until her husband helped her.  And then she sat beside me. They smiled at me like they wanted to know me.
Tumblr media
The two hour conversation started.
I felt the joy from their eyes, especially from the Japanese old man as they kept asking my whereabouts. They insisted on buying coffee and oatmeal cookies for me. I wanted to be polite so I smirked. Of course I was very hungry and didn’t eat some breakfast. They even offered wasabi nuts and matcha flavored round shaped sticky bread. I had to appreciate it although I didn’t really like the taste too much.
For once in my life, I tried staring to someone while sharing personal stories. I felt bittersweet from her expressions, how she left our country when her older sister brought her to Japan. It was like she didn’t have choice. She was only 17 back then when she faced the reality. I know she wanted to make me feel what she has been through. I could see through her eyes how she learned to love her husband from the first few years of their relationship.  The difference of the culture and language didn’t really matter to her, instead, she was challenged by it. Mr. Suzuki was quite a storyteller, I was pretty convinced that he loves the Philippines with its warm people and weather. I love his words of wisdom; to treat people equally because we all deserve it; to value time because we all work for it; to give as much as you can because there’s no better feeling than to serve.
Funny how they wanted me to date a Japanese guy, or at least I should’ve met someone in a span of week. I could always go back, but will be definitely choosing a different weather. I admit I didn’t really have good sleep from the entire trip but maybe travels are for people who seek for adventure and stories.
Tumblr media
From what I have learned in this trip, through its any lifestyle, people have survived. And we will always be. And those who survive have a duty. Our duty is to do our best to keep on living. Even if our lives are not perfect.
With all my sincerity and respect, in another life, will always go back to you, Japan.

The Last Trolley Stop - The Finale
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The last chapter of The Last Trolley Stop is here. So many feelings, but it is a part of a series and there will be codas!
All right. Let’s get down to some stuff. There are a lot of Los Angeles specific references… because I live here and I just want to express my affection for this city so much. The restaurants and comedy clubs are all real and available, all except The Meltdown, which closed.
Comedians I referenced are Josh Fadem, Lizzy Cooperman, and Robby Ratcleff. I did write-ups for Josh and Lizzy which I’ve linked to, and Robby is a part of the Wham City Comedy group. I highly recommend them, a perfect mixture of horror, improv, and comedy. Their shows are unreal and unforgettable.
Comedy is especially important to me because I grew up in a conservative town that had a lot of hateful history… and it was exploring stand-up that helped me escape from that. My parents were more open to talking about progressive ideas once I started bringing in more comedy albums. I only came out as bisexual to my parents because Lewis Black’s perfect, angry voice backed me up. Laughing and humor is so important to me, and I think comedy can do a lot of great things for people.
Storytelling is also a major part of my life. Like Danny, ET was my gateway, where I fell in love with film and music all at once when I was four years old. Nothing was the same after that. If I hadn’t seen that movie, I’m sure I’d have a different career and life. It’s never work if you love to do it… and I’ve never loved anything more.
Some music that inspired me along the way of this piece:
Past Lives by BORNS. This song fits more of the beginning, when our cast is falling into place and becoming friends. The particular lines-
Past lives couldn't ever hold me down Lost love is sweeter when it's finally found I've got the strangest feeling This isn't our first time around
Past lives couldn't ever come between us Sometimes the dreamers finally wake up Don't wake me I'm not dreaming Don't wake me I'm not dreaming
Really spoke to me in particular, that feeling that everyone of felt, that lightning in a bottle of everything being at the right place at the right time to come together and make this children’s show. The opening of this song feels like slipping into a dream and I enjoyed listening to it as everyone just starting developing these close relationships with each other and the project.
Pure Imagination by Gene Wilder. Ah. This was one of the first songs I learned how to play on the piano. It’s one of my favorites from my childhood, and it hit it right on the nose of what I wanted the actual show of The Last Trolley Stop to feel like. Colorful, whimsical, but never condescending to its audience. The whole song is wonderful, but these lines captured what I wanted the show to stand for pretty perfectly.
There is no life I know To compare with pure imagination Living there, you'll be free If you truly wish to be
If you want to view paradise Simply look around and view it Anything you want to, do it Wanna change the world? There's nothing to it
When I was watching the Fred Rogers documentary he was so wonderful in how he spoke to children with respect, never shying away from tough questions and never talking down to them. And I wanted to make a show that… changed the world, through color, expression, and dancing, I wanted The Last Trolley Stop to be overt in wanting kids to express themselves without being afraid, to encourage them to listen to others, to explore other points of view.
I made a show I wish I had when I was a kid. Like I said earlier… my hometown wasn’t friendly to new ideas, creativity, and anything that wasn’t white and heteronormative. Our town history is ugly. I wasn’t honest about who I was for a majority of my grade to middle school career, and in high school I just left everything ambiguous and had enough friends that it was safe for me to even do that. Media is what helped me get out. Reading, watching, writing… it helped me a lot.
Moving onto the finale. It’s hard to think of a great final song. Honestly, if y’all have a song that you think of when you read the finale, great.
Animal Spirits by Vulfpeck really spoke to me for some reason. It’s bubbly, bright, and strange, which is what I wanted this story to feel like.
This is a true love story song A triumph, and a Glory song With only one small caveat This one hasn't happened yet It's not the strongest narrative But details aren't imperative What matters is the way it ends They've got sixteen mutual friends
--
Now everyone seems unaware That these two are a destined pair But I checked out their astral chart This one is a work of art
It made me smile even as I became nostalgic at the end. It’s a love story, two different kinds, happening at the same time. Two different types of slow burn, one emotional, and one physical.
Special thanks goes out to @dialmformaledictions and @trashyscarface! Mal, thanks for putting up with my constant keyboard smashing when I first starting exploring this idea.
Trashy… your art is fucking I N C R E D I B LE. Breathtaking and just perfectly CAPTURES everything about this fic. Thanks for listening to my rambling in terms of character descriptions loud aesthetic. You’re fantastic.
It’s been a wild ride. A really fun, satisfying ride. Codas are coming, award shows and a couple of weddings. Thanks for reading. Stay bright and colorful!

i don’t have one from a books (rip i’ve never properly liked a book character) but the magician from the webtoon annarasumanara kind of stuck with me? i just felt so sad for him & he reminds me of what i don’t want to end up being
Pictures or gifs?
pictures!
Is there any really famous movie that you’ve not ever seen?
ohhhhh boy a lot! i don’t watch movies much and if i do the last thing i’d watch is romance/comedy/etc so i haven’t seen all those ‘classics’ like the notebook and legally blonde and so on... i’ve never seen high school musical either (or any of those disney channel shows)
Clean desk or a messy one?
it starts off clean and then it gets messy lmao
If you could start again and change only one thing, what would that be?
i would love myself more, and i would’ve made an effort to speak all my languages :(
Five things, one desert island for the rest of your life. What do you bring
(assuming i can’t bring exo) uhhh, because i’m practical: a good knife, large sheet of tarp, indefinite number of matches, clean clothes and something to hold water
Favourite way to spend your free time.
wasting it tbh... but i love having long chats w my friends
Would you rather be able to fly or walk through walls?
i’d fly bc walking through walls would be a lot more easier to get caught at... @technicallymilkshakes   !! (i love these questions!)
You’ve been friends with your bias for some time now and you’re pretty sure there’s some mutual attraction between the two of you. How does this attraction get resolved? Does someone confess (who)? Is it more physical? Do you agree to remain just friends? Or does it stay unresolved?
okay okay ASSUMING this ever happens ... i’d confess! i don’t like keeping things that could change my life. even if i wasn’t sure they liked me too. i’d go for a half-relationship/half-friend thing?? bc i hate proper relationships
Do you have a recurring daydream you like to revisit? What is it?
yep! plenty hahaha. i have one where Ambiguous Person and i are hiking through the woods, another where we’re trying to ballroom dance and then one where we’re forced to share a bed... you know the one... (SORRY i’m so soft when it comes to romance)
How did your bias become your bias?
ahhh okay at first my bias was jongin?? bc i usually like the dancers? and i was watching a lot of exo-k so i didn’t even know about jd but like... i watched a couple of lives and his voice just got me... and then of course all those ‘try not to fangirl’ challenges that sucked the life out of me
What’s one song from your bias group that can always make you happy?
i love love love replay! especially the live ver. where they all cried... i cry everytime i hear it too?? and the whole lucifer album also (surprise!! my bias group isn’t exo lmao)
Are you right-handed? Left-handed? Ambidextrous?
right-handed! i can write w my left hand but not for long periods of time
You call in to the radio show your bias is a guest on. It gets picked up and now you’re live on the air. What would you say to them?
i’d say (in my crappy korean) that i love them and i’m so happy i got to talk to them! and that i hope they’re happy and taking care of themselves
What’s the best concert you’ve ever been to?
i’ve only been to two :( both of them were incredible though! i saw yanni live & a classical concert by zubin mehta + the australian world orchestra and !!!! mesmerizing experiences! now if i could just see tsfh i’d die happy
What’s your favorite film genre and what are some movies you would recommend from it?
like i said i don’t like films much but,,, i do love space movies and historical settings! i can’t recall any besides interstellar which most people have probably watched
What do you think other people’s first impression of you is? What do you want it to be?
they probably think i’m kind of rude? ;;;;;;;; bc i’m super shy so i don’t talk much at all? also they probably think i’m homeless or something bc i’m always barefoot, my hair’s always messy and somehow i end up getting dust all over me RIP
Is there a book that you’ve given up on finishing? If so, why?
i’ve dnf’ed a loooot of books! most recently, a court of thorns and roses (s. j. maas) & caraval (stephanie garber) MAN i really hated those
You went to a fansign and your bias signed your album and drew a special note + a little doodle just for you. What does the note say and what’s the doodle? Do you show it off to everyone when you get home or do you tuck it in a safe spot and take it out once in a blue moon to reminisce alone?
ldkfns i’m imagining this and i’m SUFFERING but uhh i’d ask him to draw a cat lmao and write something that makes him happy!  and the second one! i’m not a showy person so i’d definitely keep it somewhere safe and take it out when i want to remember :’)
@jds1andonly  !!
If you could have any exo member as your twin, who would it be?
probably chanyeol bc i need some positivity! and he’d be really fun to talk to and do everything with
Imagine you have one day where you can eat anything you want: what would you eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner?
assuming this also means no gastric troubles... i’d go to the most expensive vegan restaurants in the world and gorge myself (bc i’m still morally obligated)
What is something you want to do by the end of the year?
oh boy considering there’s only a month and a half left... finish my ongoing series, be done with all my school stuff and ready for my exams in january, and organize the trip i want to go on with my friends after graduation!
What is your dream job?
i wanna be a teacher or a professor! maybe go around the world and teach in poorer regions? i actually have this dream to start an organization for volunteer teaching in low-income areas around the world. after i retire, i want to run a cafe/library in a really secluded place.
What is your favorite part from exo’s unfair performances (any one of them)
oh my godddd they’re all so sickeningly sweet but i like the christmas one with the santa suits and jongdae’s part in the second verse where he goes ‘oooooh oooooh’ with the finger heart? it’s so cute i wanna die
What was your favorite TV show as a kid?
spongebob ndsfnsk obviously...
What is the funniest thing you’ve ever heard about your bias?
this one video someone tagged me in of jd wearing those periscope glasses and screaming??
What is your least favorite food and why?
i haaaaaaate curry leaves they make me nauseous :-/
What TV show have you been watching recently?
does masterchef australia count? i watch it obsessively!!
If you had a superpower like the exo members, what would you want yours to be?
hmm. hmmmmm very good question. probably telekinesis bc it’s really cool and i can move stuff from across the room without having to get up
If you could be in any kpop group, which would it be and why?
just for the concepts? id say exo or vixx for the music but i wouldn’t really fit in lmfao so like maybe snsd or EXID
okay this was super long i’m sorry but i had fun!!! thank you guys for tagging me again!!!

11 Questions Meme
Borrowing this meme from @Aximili because I thought it looked interesting and the questions are really unique!
1. What’s your favourite poem if you have one? why is it your favourite?
That’s a hard one, because I don’t read a lot of poetry. It took a while to think of an answer, and what I finally settled on is so nerdy and not very cultured, but I’m going to have to go with the tapestry poem (“Listen, my child, to this story of dreams” and so on) from Nancy Drew: Message in a Haunted Mansion. It’s very nostalgic to me and I loved unravelling what all the symbolism in it means/how it pertains to the mystery. Maybe a bit of a lame answer, but it’s what I’m putting.
On the other end of the spectrum I also considered the Aeneid but 1) I’ve only read about half of it, 2) I’m not entirely sure it counts as a poem? And 3) sounds way too pretentious
2. If you could spend a lot of money on one thing right now - and its not something practical like paying off debts, or a house or car - what would it be? something purely for enjoyment.
Okay so assuming we’re not allowed to say “charity” or “spend it on a friend” or w/e and can spend the money on something entirely unnecessary/selfish, I actually have a ready-prepared answer. I’ve been looking forwards for a long time to the Agents of Shield Season 4 Declassified Guide Book coming out (which it did on Tuesday) and yesterday I went to the Chapters here to see if they had it and turns out they don’t. No store in the city has it or even in Toronto, so it most likely hasn’t been shipped to the province (or even the country) yet. So I would use the money to order it to the store (which you can do but the price is not something I want to spend when I’m on a student budget #Firstworldproblems). Anyway I’ll probably just end up ordering it on Amazon or asking for it for Christmas or something.
3. Favourite plant and why?
That’s a really hard one but atm I’m thinking wisteria. I saw a ton of it in England and I love how it grows up buildings and drapes all over everything. It looks so old-timey and wonderful. The flowers are also the perfect colour.
4. When you’ve had a really long day and you’re super hungry,  what do you crave?
Ohhhh gosh. I guess this really depends on the day? But cheese popcorn is always a safe answer.
5. A memorable dream you’ve had lately?
Well uh. I had a very memorable but questionable dream trilogy the past 3 nights all involving cast members from Agents of Shield. In the first dream, my favorite actress from that show sent me a postcard saying that she was writing a story on Google Docs and was going to share it with me. In the second dream, that actress and a bunch of others from the show were invited over to our house by my Dad for a dinner party and I was going to get to interview her. And in the third … another actor I really like was hit by a car and killed? It felt super real and I actually had to look him up online when I woke up to make sure he was okay.
6. What does your dream home look like? what type of building/size/location/what’s in it?
Okay, so notwithstanding cost and practicality and upkeep, I’d really really love to live in a heritage home, like say circa 1890 to 1915ish. Something late Victorian/Edwardian/Arts and Crafts style. Queen Anne style with a little turret would be THE BEST but that’s a little ambitious even for my dreams lol. I’d like it to be along one of those sleepy streets in a neighborhood that’s clearly been there for a long time so the trees are very tall and the branches arch over the road. Like you’re in a green tunnel with sunlight filtering down. And it’d have a little backyard and frontyard and two stories + a basement but not be too big. Like 1 or 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, bathroom, basement, that’s all I need. I imagine it either being made out of red brick, or wood painted some sort of pastel colour (white, light pink/blue/green, etc.)
I know it’s really tempting to be like “I would live in A CASTLE with 10 secret passageways and a hidden treasure!” but it’d honestly be so big and kind of creepy to be alone in it. But I wouldn’t say no to a small secret passageway in my imaginary house … like just a sliding panel or a boarded-off maid’s staircase or something. That’d be awesome.
The furnishings would be like, high-late Victorian or Edwardian. I really like them both, and while the Victorian appeals more to me aesthetically, the Edwardian would be easier to manage and clean. But it would have electricity, TV, computer, all those modern conveniences.
Something like the Painted Ladies in San Francisco would be ideal but to see some more feasible/local examples you can check out these pages here (which I helped set up a few summers ago *shameless self-plug*)
7. a household chore you actually enjoy?
That’s actually a fairly easy answer. I like doing the dishes, as in just loading/unloading the dishwasher. I find it kind of relaxing and therapeutic. Not saying I’d be jumping up and down to do them after I’ve had a long busy day and want to spend time doing something fun, but I don’t mind it. I also like sweeping. It feels kind of cathartic to gather up a whole bunch of dust and dirt into a pile and then throw it away.
8. who’s your favourite lesser-known music artist? which song and why?
This one’s pretty hard because a lot of what I listen to is fairly well-known pop (Taylor Swift, Kelly Clarkson, etc.) but I guess I’d go with Stan Rogers? He was a Canadian folk singer from the 70s /early 80s who unfortunately died in a plane crash. He sang a lot of songs relating to maritime life and Canadian history. My Mom introduced me to his work when I was in high school and I really like it. Some of my favorite songs of his are Mary Ellen Carter, Northwest Passage, Macdonnell on the Heights, Witch of the Westmoreland, and Barrett’s Privateers. I have Barrett’s Privateers pretty much memorized and sometimes sing it to annoy my sister, since it’s a pretty repetitive song. :P
9. what was ur favourite toy as a kid?
OH definitely my (creatively-named) killer whale. Just a typical plastic animal toy that came with a set of 5 or so others, but for whatever reason 3-4 y/o me really latched on to him, I guess because I love killer whales so much. I would sleep with him the same way most kids sleep with teddy bears or other soft stuffed animals. I remember my parents telling me he would chase my nightmares away. When I was 16 or so one of my dogs got into my room and chewed up his fins up a bit, but luckily I rescued him in time. I actually brought him with me to Uni, both now and when I went to Exeter, and he’s sitting on a pile of my books on my shelf right now.
10. your ideal conditions for falling asleep?
Really dark and quiet. Not too hot or too cold. Comfy blankets. Nothing troubling my mind, preferably some sort of fictional scenario to run over in my head (like involving characters or ships or something), and I’m tired enough that I can fall asleep quickly.
11. something nice you did for someone else recently!
Mmmm I hate saying things like this because it feels like bragging. So I’m just going to go with some small things. I took the trash and recycling out for my roommate even though it wasn’t my week to do so, because the girl who was supposed to do it had left for the weekend. I also checked up on a friend from my class on Facebook because I hadn’t heard from her in a long time and wanted to make sure she was doing okay.
Questions for anyone who wants to do them:
What’s the hardest video game you’ve ever beaten?
What’s the furthest east, south, west, and north you’ve been?
What’s the coolest animal you’ve seen in the wild?
What book/movie/show did you watch/read as a kid that was wayyy too old for you?
When you get a new favorite character, do you instantly know they’re going to be the one, or do they grow on you slowly?
Do you like extra content in fandom (DLCs, guide books, stuff revealed by creators in an interview) or would you rather stick to the books/movies/whatever themselves?
Have you ever gone to summer camp, and did you like it?
Skiing, snowboarding, or neither?
Favorite Halloween memory? (If you celebrate it; if not, favorite holiday memory of your choice!)
What superpower/superhuman ability would you LEAST want to have?
Something new and interesting you’ve learned this week.

1. Coke or Pepsi:
Coke, definitely. I don’t mind Pepsi and learned to tolerate it okay because that’s what my Mom likes best, but if you give me the choice I will always pick Coke.
2. Disney or Dreamworks:
They’ve both got some of my fave movies. Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmaron and Prince of Egypt are beautiful movies. However, if I go by consistency of excellence, I’d probably go with Disney? But I don’t really have a preference in the way of “I’d rather watch one company over the other”. Dreamworks just seems to reeeeally fluctuate with quality.
3. Coffee or Tea:
I like both alright. I prefer iced coffee and bottled teas lol. I drink tea more than coffee, though. Coffee tends to make me have to shit PRONTO and sometimes when it doesn’t make me have to shit, I still end up like...kinda having an upset stomach? Which does not help my anxieties. So I drink it sometimes but I have to be in the mood and in my own home near a toilet to feel comfortable with it lol. Don’t take me out for coffee, I will get nothing except maybe a water :)
4. Books or Movies: I’m not really sure...I guess books just because it lets me imagine things the way I want them? But they both require a level of attention that I have a hard time maintaining these days. I wonder though if part of my loss of interest in books comes from my eyes getting worse. I haven’t read much since getting them, so it could help.
5. Windows or Mac: I don’t have a strong preference, really. I don’t do a lot of fiddling with my computers, so as long as they can run what I want them to run, I’m fine with them. My desktop is Windows, my laptop is Mac. I’d say my only complaint is how fucking expensive everything Apple is. :/ Wilhelm’s needed repaired for years now but I just can’t justify the expense.
6. DC or Marvel:
Marvel, definitely. There’s some DC stuff I like, but I tend to gravitate towards Marvel more. I’d say Batman and Teen Titans are an exception. But mostly Marvel for me.
7. X-box or Playstation:
Uhhh I don’t really know to be honest? I grew up in a Nintendo household so I’ve never really owned a Playstation or X-box until living with James. Kind of how I feel about computers, I guess. As long as it’s got games I want to play lol. I suppose Playstation probably caters to me a little better.
8. Dragon Age or Mass Effect:
Dragon Age. I haven’t really gotten to play Mass Effect yet, but space as a whole just doesn’t quite appeal to me as much? I do certainly love the alien races and seeing new environments is cool, but overall it just doesn’t hold the appeal to me that Dragon Age’s brand of fantasy does. I feel more creative with DA’s world.
9. Night Owl or Early Riser:
An unfortunate mix of both? I tend to stay up late and wake up early. I don’t really enjoy waking up early, my body just doesn’t leave me much of a choice.
10. Cards or Chess:
Cards. I always forget the rules to chess, card games are usually more straightforward for me.
11. Chocolate or Vanilla:
I assume we’re talking ice cream. Vanilla. For one, chocolate ice cream just rarely tastes like actual chocolate to me. Plus, you can customize vanilla however the hell you want without clashing flavors.
12. Vans or Converse:
Neither really. I pretty much just wear tennis shoes/running shoes/whatever the fuck you call them lol. New Balance is comfy. The shoes I’ve been wearing are New Balance and some kind of Dr. Scholl’s brand.
13. Lavellan, Trevelyan, Cadash, or Adaar:
Honestly, I’m not sure? My very first Inquisitor was Adaar, so I definitely have a soft spot for them and it was cool to play a new race. But I don’t have a total preference. I model my characters in DA to resemble/act like my characters I write. So I don’t view them as their race, just the character I stuck with that race.
14. Fluff or Angst:
I like both, man. Give me some seriously angsty shit followed by sad fluff. Give me happy fluff. Give me heartbreaking shit. GIVE.
15. Beach or Forest:
Forest. Beaches are great, don’t get me wrong. I enjoy them and I’ve been to a few on vacations when I was younger. But beaches are pretty much always hot unless you go north. And the heat and I are not on good terms. I’d say the downside of forests is they can be fucking humid, and humidity = mosquitoes.
16. Dogs or Cats:
I have a stronger preference towards cats. I’ve always loved them, grew up with them, etc. But I still love dogs and I’d like to have one someday. I’ve basically mentally adopted James’s family’s dog Jake. We’ve always snuggled together when we get the chance and he loves the attention. He just needs to be reminded that I am dainty and cannot be a chew toy sometimes xD
17. Clear Skies or Rain:
Hmm...I really don’t know here...Sometimes I really crave rain, but too much rain can be dreary because I start to feel cooped up. But too much sun can get tiring too because sometimes you just want it to be cooler. I guess it just kind of depends on the season.
18. Cooking or Eating Out:
Here’s the conundrum that ruins my life, aight. Aside from not having money, I can’t really eat out much. I fucking love restaurant food, even just fast food, but here’s the problem: I can’t stand eating in public 90% of the time because anxiety + phobia. I feel trapped and it’s rare that I can relax and properly eat a meal in a restaurant. But I also hate cooking. Which means I actually just eat a lot of junk food when left to my own devices lol. I did cook today though! I steamed some sugar peas and broccoli in teriyaki sauce. Low maintenance and yummy~
19. Spicy Food or Mild:
I can’t stand spicy food. It tends to upset my stomach more often than not. I eat food so blandly half the time you could mistake me for an old woman.
20. Halloween/Samhin or Solistice/Yule/Christmas:
Christmas holds the most sentimental value for me, but I don’t get excited for it like I used to. But I don’t really get excited for Halloween either. I like decorating for both, though, and seeing different decorations.
21. Little too cold or little too hot:
A little too cold. Being a little too hot sends me into anxiety sometimes (what doesn’t tbh) because being hot in general can upset my stomach. Winter’s my favorite for a reason.
22. Superpower
I wanna communicate with animals, Eliza Thornberry style. But I’d also like it to extend to insects and stuff? I’d never be alone.
23. Animation or Live Action:
Animation. It’s more expressive generally and you can do whatever you want with it with no worries about practical effects and the like.
24. Paragon or Renegade:
I would probably end up in the middle, maybe leaning more towards paragon? I prefer to be nice but sometimes it’s just not an option, man. You can’t please everyone.
25. Bath or Showers:
Showers, but it would be nice to have the option to take a bath sometimes. Unfortunately, our tub has a section cut out of it because the last tenant was disabled, so we can’t fill it :C
26. Team Cap or Team Ironman:
If this is about Civil War, I ain’t picking sides. I’m in Switzerland territory with the X-men.
27. Fantasy or Sci-Fi:
Fantasy, but both are good :3
28. Fav Quotes:
I don’t really keep faves, honestly. My preferences change too much. But one I cling to actually came from a dream of mine where I spoke to Christopher Lloyd as Doc Brown lol. But it was meaningful and comforting.
"In all my years of travel, I've never met anyone in the past, present, or future whose path wasn't vastly important."
29. Youtube or Netflix:
Just depends if I’m on my computer or on the couch lol. I don’t use Netflix on my computer.
30. Harry Potter or Percy Jackson:
I haven’t read Percy Jackson and don’t really have an interest in it, so definitely Harry Potter.
31. When I Feel Accomplished:
Uhhh...I guess when I make something I’m proud of?
32. Star Wars or Star Trek:
I’m honestly not huge on either, but I guess I have more good associations with Star Wars because of the people around me.
33. Paperback Books or Hardback:
Hardback, I suppose.
34. A world without literature or music:
Uh...no. I’m not choosing that lol.
35. Who was the last person to make me laugh:
James, probably.
36. Sour or Sweet Candy:
Depends on what I’m in the mood for, honestly. I like sweet stuff but sometimes sour is just great.
37. Believe in aliens?:
Yeah I mean, the universe is too vast not to.
38. Dawn or Dusk:
Dusk, I think.
39. Piercings or Tattoos:
I don’t have either and I probably will never have either. I prefer tattoos on others, but piercings are fine.
40. Girls? Hot?:
Uh yeah man.
41. Snow or Fog:
Snooooow~
42. Sleep facing the wall or room:
I don’t have a real preference where I’m facing as much as whatever side of the bed I’m on.
43. TRC of AFTG:
Uhhh???
44. Horror or Drama:
Drama I guess? Just because horror often upsets me. But I’m not huge on either genre.
45. Orcarina of Time or Majora’s Mask:
Majora’s Mask. I feel it’s got more complexity and emotion to it.
46. Living in nature or city:
I prefer kind of a medium? I don’t want to live in bumfuck nowhere but I don’t want to be in a city either.
47. Any addictions:
Art supplies ;A;
48. Languages:
English is my first language, I’m working on Spanish and German.
49. What music do I listen too:
Pretty much anything I end up liking? Limiting yourself to a genre is silly.
50. Fav mythical creature:
I’m not sure I have a favorite but I do have a soft spot for mermaids and centaurs.
51. Safe zone:
There really isn’t one, ever. There’s a downside to any locations or person.
52. First fandom:
Probably Pokemon? Either Pokemon or DBZ.
53. Cartoons or Adult Shows:
Animated anything :D As long as it’s good, I don’t give a fuck who the target audience is.
54. Current music:
Not listening to music right now.
55. Favorite starter?:
Like Pokemon? I have a nostalgic soft spot for Totodile. It was back before I could look up to see what the Pokemon would look like, so I had no idea my little Totodile would grow up to be a big badass Feraligatr and I freaking LOVED it. I feel the same way about Mudkip. Weirdly enough, I prefer to start with FIre types rather than Water.
56.  What would your witch’s familiar be?
Probably just a cat lol.

All of them
pearl: if you could travel anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?
Right now? Japan. Just. You know. Because
sails: describe your perfect partner.
Someone with nice and positive energy, who is not super dependent on me but also values me a lot. Someone who has passions and hobbies! I’m usually attracted to how people animate themselves, rather than individual features? A violist musician, maybe. Someone who will listen to classical music with me, and share awesome non-classical jams with me! Someone who likes cats. Someone whose name starts with U.
lighthouse: how much makeup do you wear?
On average, none. For special events, or events that I am very anxious about, I might put on concealer/foundation. I kind of use the two interchangeably. And then maybe a Bit of eyeshadow and maybe a Bit of brown eyeliner, if I’m really feeling fancy.
shells: would you prefer to be a vampire or a werewolf?
A vampire? Seems easier to control. And also potentially less painful. And hotter. Also I wouldn’t get my period anymore because I’d be undead sign me up.
mermaid: most embarrassing moment?
Once upon a time my school orchestra was corralled into the most mortifying gig on a radio show recording session to ever happen. I don’t think we were even invited, our conductor just made us show up. Only only half the orchestra did and it was the worst. thing. to ever happen.
turquoise: weirdest dream you’ve ever had?
Oh god, I’ve had a lot of weird dreams. I feel like I’m currently blanking on the weirdest. Surely I’ve already told you some good ones?
waves: favourite season and why?
FALL because the weather is nice and the breeze is nice and the smell is nostalgic and the trees are beautiful and aaaa there’s nothing like an autumn breeze
breakers: would you ever consider getting married?
I mean. Yeah.
seafoam: describe your ideal summer vacation.
You, me, the squad, a beach. Ideally featuring me beating Hannah at something.
rain: if it were possible, what exotic animal would you keep as a pet?
I mean possible as in “safe” or “legal” or “practical”? Like. Snow leopards are gorgeous and big cats can be pretty catlike but I don’t think they’d be very happy in closed quarters.
sunlight: least favourite song?
Clarissa’s stupid bear song on the piano
marine: would you ever consider plastic surgery?
I don’t think I’d ever go through with it? Sometimes I’m just like “wow my skin sucks imagine getting fake skin that wouldn’t betray me like this”, but idk if that’s even possible. Other than that I’m… actually pretty happy with my facial features.
sea glass: what do you consider to be your best physical feature?
I’ve been told that I have an Adorable Nose. I’ve also been complimented on my eyebrows, and also sometimes my eyes, but uh. I think the most Compelling part of my physical appearance is just like. The way I emote. Idk. Anyone care to cast a vote?
storm: do you like piercings and tattoos? Why or why not?
As in… on myself? On other people? In the context of sexual attraction? I have my ears pierced, and other piercings can look really good on other people. So can tattoos! But I don’t really think I’m likely to get either.
boardwalk: who is your favourite fictional couple?
Caslyn/Haven
coral: if you had to describe your personality as a food, what would you be and why?
Um. I would be… a cream puff. Because I deflate easily.
nymph: old-fashioned or modern decor?
I like both! For a living space of my own, maybe modern.
seawater: scariest movie you’ve ever watched?
The opening sequence to the Uzuki Files
siren: in a fantasy setting, would you be a warrior, rogue or mage?
Why can’t I be a rogue warrior mage tho.
tropic: what is your least favourite thing about your appearance?
My skin! If it could just  be clear, all the time, I would feel honestly so much better about myself.
aquamarine: describe your dream date.
Oh gee, I don’t know. Nice weather, and maybe some nice pastries, and maybe outdoors somewhere with some nice conversation? And maybe some handholding or cuddling or little cheek kisses.
brine: gold or silver?
Depends on the application! But my Inner Aesthetic dictates silver.
tidal: what is a colour that best describes your personality?
Uh. I mean I think that depends on the mood my personality is filtered through.
azure: what is something that you do that makes you happy?
You! Also, elves. Also, nice weather.
fog: describe where you think you’ll be in five years.
Uhh. Living in an apartment in Massachussetts with you and Emma while you two get graduate degrees in engineering and biology or somethings. I will be freelancing art and graphic design even though I will have been able to major in neither. Idk.
coastline: what is your favourite flower?
Azaleas!
shallows: what is your typical Starbucks order?
Tall iced mocha with whipped cream.
voyage: what are your favourite names?
We made a giant ass spreadsheet of our favorite names, I don’t know which to select for the purpose of this ask meme! Um. Nikolai, obviously. And……. I’ve always loved the name Lyla.
shipwreck: do you have an OC? If so, describe them.
mkay so we have:
Riava - a wreck, a mess, stammers a bunch, very timid and wishy washy in the face of death and torture, has no legs,  a badass girlfriend who you hate. Possibly also in a relationship with the badass girlfriend’s twin brother Randy.
Ayra - a Badass Amazing CalmTM paladin knight lady with an overprotective streak and a lot of Really Cool Skillz. She works very hard and takes things very seriously, and doesn’t have time for boys. That aren’t her brother/adopted puppy Destian.
Caslyn - A lot more capable and level-headed than Riava, but also kind of a mess? Does magic and ships. Basically married to a lovey competent ship’s captain. Probably going to end up kicking Hannah’s crying rear-end.
Steph - a de-armadillo’d armadillo person who is good at quests and swords and Inner Conflict. Passed up an amazing and gr8 and not-evil sword Silverlight for the alternatively Super Evil And Powerful/Super Clueless And Convinced Tat My Mom Is Pregnant Darklight. What a wild ride
cerulean: do you believe in true love?
As in like, a predestined perfect love that happens automatically and sustains itself without effort? Nnnnah. All relationships take work and attention and trust. I believe in very complete, genuine love, but that doesn’t mean infallible or inevitable.
shoreline: if you could become fluent in another language, which would you pick and why?
Either french, because it sounds Good and Nice and kind of already know my way around the language a little, or Korean because I spend a lot of time listening to people speak Korean and the rhythm is really different from English and the idea of being able to understand it is really attractive.
Or yknow. Elf languages.
tsunami: describe a dream outfit of yours.
A spandex kilt over purple overalls, idk????? I don’t know how Fashion.
riptide: are you introverted or extroverted? Are you happy with this?
Introverted all the way. Which like. I wouldn’t say always makes me happy, because I suffer a lot, but I’m… kinda proud of it. Tis the way of my family.
hurricane: describe a strange habit of yours.
Sometimes I eat raisins and pretend that the raisin box is a pack of cigarettes, and I’m, uh… smoking? Them? Eating some drugs? Don’t ask me how that works, I’m too lame.

La La Land
Here's to the fools who dream Crazy, as they may seem
La La Land, the star of Golden Globes 2017 with 7 nominations and 7 awards, tied with All About Eve and Titanic with 14 nominations for Oscars 2017. It is safe to say that it is a modern musical movie filled with nostalgic vibes.
A month ago, I went to the movies and watched La La Land. The first part of the movie focuses on musical comedy. The second part of it is where the things get serious and make sense. I personally felt a little bit bored at the first part, even though it was pretty enthusiastic but after I got adjusted myself to the whole musical elements, I started to enjoy it. I was totally into the movie when the second part started after the break. The ending got me emotional and I cried. I was disappointed with the ending. Also, I was frustrated with the ending. I was like ‘well, this movie is a bit overrated.’ However, I couldn’t stop thinking about the movie when I got home. I gotta be honest with you, I thought about it for a week. The storyline might seem simple but it takes a while to process everything that happened. Because you get carried away with musical stuff. You get mad at the ending. You only have time to think about it entirely a few days later after you watch it. However, these are not the only side effects of the movie, there is more. You feel like craving for its soundtrack. You search the songs and you listen to them. Everytime you close your eyes while listening to it, the movie starts to replay in your imagination. You can’t stop thinking about Sebastian and Mia.
If you simply want to know or want to recall what happens in the movie, here you go. Mia is a barista who wants to be an actress. Sebastian is a jazz pianist who wants to open his own restaurant. Mia and Sebastian’s first encounter happens on the road. They get stuck on the road because of the traffic, Mia frustrates Sebastian because she doesn’t move her car and keeps talking on the phone and Sebastian just wants to keep driving his car. Sometime later, Mia see Sebastian playing piano at a restaurant. She feels bewitched by his piano skills. Sebastian, who just got let down by his boss, acts like a jerk towards Mia when she just tries to compliment him. A while later, they run into each other at a party where Mia attends with friends and Sebastian plays with a band. Mia requests a song from Sebastian’s band and she pushes the limits. After the show, they interact with each other. On their way to their cars, the famous tap dance happens. They just think they are not a good match and they leave. They meet again another day. Then, they start to fall in love with each other. They become supportive of each other. Sebastian encourages her to write her own play, while she encourages him to open his place. She suggests him that it should be called Seb’s place but he refuses. Sebastian joins a band because Mia wants him to. He goes to tours and barely finds time for his personal life. Meanwhile, Mia goes to auditions but she keeps getting turned down. She feels like she keeps failing. She also feels lonely and she gets jealous of Sebastian and they have a huge fight on the night Sebastian surprises her. Mia works on her monologue and Sebastian can not make it to there in time because his band has a photoshoot session. Almost nobody shows up on her show. She feels heartbroken and she feels like her dreams are shattered. So, she goes to live with her parents, she changes her phone number. A while later, an agency calls her but they can not reach her so they call Sebastian. They tell him that they want to see Mia for an audition. Sebastian gets in his car and drives to Mia’s parents home. He convinces her to try the audition. It works and she gets accepted. They tell each other they will always love each other. They both move on with their lives. A few years later, Mia comes back to L.A. She is now a big movie star, a wife and a mother. She goes to a restaurant with her husband. She looks at the pianist and sees it’s Sebastian. She notices the sign of the place and it’s called Seb’s place. They look each other in the eye and they dream of how their life would be if they were still together. Then, they smile at each other and move on again.
I really liked the acting skills of the leading actors. I liked Emma Stone’s acting. I loved how she danced and sang for the movie. Her voice is really beautiful. However, there were some moments where I found some of her facial expressions so Easy A-ish, like a little bit exaggerated but it goes well with the comedy aspect of the movie and exaggerated facial expressions are sort of Stone’s trademark. I liked Ryan Gosling’s acting, as well. He was more serious compared toStone. I also loved how he danced and sang for the movie just like did Stone. Moreover, I adored how he learned to play piano for the movie. He definitely outdid himself. Although I personally liked Gosling’s performance more than Stone’s performance, it looks like Stone has a bigger chance to receive an Oscar. It is such an artsy movie. It is a visual masterpiece. The cinematography is excellent and it might be awarded with an Oscar in that category. Directing is so good and it looks like Damien Chazelle will get it right this time, he will do what he couldn’t do with Whiplash, he will make it up to it. There are a lot of metaphors used in the movie. It has one of the best movie soundtracks ever. It has two songs in the Original Song category, and City of Stars might have a higher chance than Audition. La La Land did not disappoint at Golden Globes 2017 and it got all the awards it was nominated for. It looks like it won’t disappoint again at Oscars 2017, even though it won’t be able to get all the awards it got nominated for this time. It looks promising and it might surprise.
So, La La Land is basically a movie where fairytale goes wrong. It is a movie that reminds you of wonderland. It looks so dreamy, so cotton sugared. You feel like you fell asleep and you are having a very sweet dream. However, it’s very twisted. The ending feels like a slap in the face. You wake up and go back to life. I mean, you welcome yourself to cruelness of life. You accept the fact that you can’t have it all in life, even though some of your dreams come true. You win some, you lose some. Then, you ask yourself ‘How did such a dreamy movie get so realistic?’

The Nerd's Watch: The Best Sci-Fi and Fantasy Streaming in September
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scott Pilgrim is coming to Netflix.Photo: Universal
You can get comprehensive lists of everything coming to streaming services anywhere. But half of those titles you don’t care about, and the other half are terrible. Where’s the good stuff? io9 is here to help.
Below you’ll find what we deem to be the best sci-fi and fantasy movies and TV coming to Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu in September.

Wakanda forever…streaming on your TV.Photo: Disney
Netflix
Available September 1
Groundhog Day – Harold Ramis’ genius time travel comedy was a little under-appreciated when it was released but in the decades since, it’s become more and more revered. Deservedly so. It’s insanely rewatchable, funny, and heartwarming.
King Kong – The Netflix press release just lists this as “King Kong,” but we’ve confirmed it’s Peter Jackson’s 2005 take on the giant ape story. Obviously, it isn’t the best version (that honor goes to the one that came out back in 1933), but it’s not too bad.
The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy – No, it’s not as good as the book, but this adaptation of the wonderful, inventive Douglas Adams novel is about as good as you can get. It’s funny, it’s weird, it’s got a great cast, and it’s definitely worth a rewatch.
September 2
Lilo & Stitch and The Emperor’s New Groove – Besides the fact that these are both Disney animated films, they really don’t have much in common. But each is noteworthy in its own way and will make any kids in your orbit very happy, especially the charming, Hawaii-set extraterrestrial tale Lilo & Stitch.

September 4
Black Panther – The highest-grossing U.S. film of the year—and one of the most entertaining, well-made films of any year—comes to Netflix, and now Wakanda really is forever.
September 7
Next Gen – To be fair, we don’t know if this Netflix original is good. But the trailer suggests a theatrical-worthy animated adventure about a young girl who befriends a killer robot. We’re intrigued.

September 16
Scott Pilgrim vs. the World – Edgar Wright’s amazing, kinetic adaptation of the Bryan Lee O’Malley comic book series may be not just one of the best comic book movies of all time, but one of the best video game movies of all time too, despite not being about a video game. Also, much of the cast has gotten insanely famous since this movie so rewatching it has an added layer of awesome.
September 17
The Witch – If you’re reading this column, odds are you’ve seen The Witch already. If you haven’t, though, mark down this date. It’s one of the creepiest, most gusty horror movies in a long time, and is about a Puritan family being stalked by an ancient evil.

September 21
Maniac – Again, we have yet to see this Netflix original limited series, but based on the brief glimpses that have been released, it feels safe to assume that Cary Fukunaga’s latest, which stars Emma Stone and Jonah Hill, will be pretty great.
September 25
Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl – Though many things have changed about the Pirates franchise over the years (Johnny Depp’s public image, increasingly bad sequels, etc), this first film remains a modern miracle: a theme park ride that became an incredibly exciting and funny movie that holds up over repeat viewings.
A Wrinkle in Time – The reviews on Ava DuVernay’s recent adaptation were pretty mixed. But now that it’s coming to Netflix, it feels like a good time to either revisit it with fresh eyes or see it for the first time, if you missed it in theaters.
September 26
The Hurricane Heist – Of all the great movies coming to streaming this month, this may be the one I’m most excited about. I haven’t seen it yet, but it feels like it would be the perfect, dumb film to stream and enjoy.

Amazon
Available September 1
Beowulf – I haven’t seen Robert Zemeckis’ performance capture retelling of the famous poem since it was released in 2007, but I loved it back then. I’m sure the effects don’t hold up 11 years later but I’d imagine the performances and script do. And now that it’s on streaming, I can check.

Big Top Pee-wee – This sequel to 1986’s Pee-wee’s Big Adventure isn’t quite on that film’s level, but it’s still worth a watch. The weirdly wonderful, circus-set story is different and still perfect in a Pee-wee way.
Double Impact – Two Van Dammes for the price of one? Yes, please. Double Impact is undoubtedly one of the most memorable films of the action star’s career. Is it one of the best? Debatable, but it’s well worth a stream or two. (Also available on Hulu.)
Dragonheart – From the director of The Fast and the Furious as well as xXx comes this Dennis Quaid-starring fantasy adventure that was nominated for an Oscar for its CG dragons. It’s not all that memorable but it’s entertaining and exciting to be sure.
Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II – The original Ghostbusters is an all-time classic. The sequel isn’t, but still has its moments. Either way, Ghostbusters II on its worst day is one of the best movies coming to streaming, and if you can watch the original, too, that’s even better.
Prancer – The 1989 Christmas tale Prancer is one of those movies you definitely saw when you were growing up, really liked, but probably haven’t thought about in 20 years. Now it’s on Amazon to help you jump-start that nostalgic Christmas spirit.
Pumpkinhead and Pumpkinhead II: Blood Wings – Halloween is just around the corner, so it’s cool that one of the lesser-known horror franchises is coming to streaming. Only the first film, directed by Stan Winston, was released theatrically, but if you want a good cult horror series to dive into, here’s a great start. (Also available on Hulu.)
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves – This Kevin Costner film is probably best known for its uber-popular theme song by Bryan Adams (“Everything I Do, I Do It For You”) but for a certain generation, like mine, it was also our formative Robin Hood. It doesn’t hold up particularly well, but it’s still full of 1990s awesomeness.
The Amityville Horror – Famous for being based on an alleged true story, this 1979 film starring James Brolin and Margot Kidder is not only good and scary, it’s historically significant for starting a horror franchise that’s alive and well to this day. (Also available on Hulu.)

Hulu
Available September 1
13 Going on 30 – This Jennifer Garner romantic comedy isn’t just delightful, it’s got a Marvel-ous supporting cast including Mark Ruffalo as the love interest, Andy Serkis as the boss, and Judy Greer as the frenemy. It’s a movie you can watch again and again.
Adaptation – When was the last time you watched Adaptation? Even if the answer is “yesterday,” now is a great time for a revisit. Charlie Kaufman and Spike Jonze’s imaginative adaptation of Susan Orlean’s The Orchid Thief is meta, hilarious, profound, and perfect.
The Bone Collector – It’s always disappointing when a film with two of the biggest actors in the world, in this case Denzel Washington and Angelina Jolie, doesn’t live up to that level of talent. The Bone Collector is like that, but it’s not terrible, and the combined charisma of late-1990s Denzel and Angelina is worth a lot.
Field of Dreams – If you stream it, we will watch.
The Fly – David Cronenberg’s creepy, gross, but oh-so-awesome film about a scientist( Jeff Goldblum) who fuses with a fly has to be seen to be believed. And if you’ve already seen it, see it again.
Miracle on 34th Street – This 1994 remake of the 1947 Christmas classic is actually pretty great. Richard Attenborough plays Santa, John Hughes co-wrote the script, and while the story doesn’t change much, the modern setting and budget make it feel even grander than the original.
Poltergeist II: The Other Side – While this sequel is certainly inferior to its original, it brings back the first film’s cast and continues that story. For that alone, if you like the original Poltergeist (and who doesn’t?), this is worth a watch. (Also available on Amazon)
Signs – Signs came out at the height of M. Night Shyamalan hype and was a huge hit, but doesn’t really get the same love as some of his other films. I think it should. It’s got big ideas, a great ending, and some gorgeous filmmaking.
Unbreakable – While Signs might be good, Unbreakable is great. We’ve written about it extensively, especially with the sequel finally coming out, and now you can catch up before Glass hits theaters in January. It’s one of the best and most inventive superhero movies ever.
What Dreams May Come – This sumptuous Robin Williams movie about a man going to heaven never quite lives up to its expectations, but it’s crazy ambitious and worth a stream for the visuals and lead performance alone.

oc questions
Red - What makes you angry?
Mallory – People who are purposefully mean just for the sake of it, and people who are rude to animals. Also, being interrupted when I’m in the middle of something.
               Emily – Everything.
Lola – I feel angry when I think about my past. I’m not angry at anyone other than myself for screwing up what could’ve been a perfect life. I also really can’t stand it when others tell me to just get over it. If I could’ve ‘gotten over it’ by now, I would.
Maroon - What are you most passionate about?
               Mallory – Reading and art!
Emily – I’m not really passionate about anything. Maybe psychology, but it’s not like I’d ever be able to pursue that passion.
Lola – Food, definitely, but I also am very passionate about having a positive impact on the world.
Ruby - Would you consider yourself impulsive or reckless?
Mallory – I can be. I really should be more like Lola in that regard…
Emily – Yes. If I wasn’t so impulsive, maybe I’d be better by now.
Lola – Not really. I think before I do.
Brick - What are some things you dislike?
Mallory – Public speaking, being ignored, and my depression, to name a few.
Emily – Ensure. Fuck those stupid drinks.
Lola – My eating disorder, horror movies, hot weather, and the state of our country.
Rose - Would you consider yourself a romantic person?
Mallory – Yes! I dream about love a lot. I really hope I can find a girlfriend one day!
Emily – No. No, no, no, no.
Lola – Hmm, maybe. I haven’t been in a relationship since I was fourteen, but perhaps if I was in a relationship today I would be romantic. I just can’t see myself loving anyone until I’m able to love myself.
Redwood - How tall are you?
Mallory – 5’5. It’s funny because I’m younger than Emily but so much taller than her! It’s kind of cute, though.
Emily – 5’1. My growth was stunted. Also, fuck Lola and Mallory for making fun of my height.
Lola – 5’8. Sometimes I’m scared that I’ll step on Emily.
Wine - What is your opinion on alcohol? (and does it exist in your world?)
Mallory – I don’t think I’ll ever drink. It really messed up Emily…
Emily – I’m a drunkorexic, what do you think I’m going to say?
Lola – I have no interest in drinking. I never saw the appeal.
Orange - What are some of your comfort foods?
Mallory – Pancakes. I miss being able to eat them.
Emily – Food is the opposite of comforting to me.
Lola – Ice cream is my ultimate comfort food because it tastes good and isn’t a pain to purge. Before my ED, it was burgers.
Spice - Do you like to cook? Do you cook often?
Mallory – I can’t cook for the life of me.
               Emily – No.
Lola – Yes, I love to cook. I make food for me Mallory all the time – I know it’s comforting to her to have food made by someone she knows so I can tell her the exact contents. I wish I could cook for Emily, but she’s scared I’m lying to her about the calorie content.
Peach - Are you generally a gentler and soft-spoken person or a louder and rougher person?
               Mallory – Soft-spoken. I don’t like talking very much.
Emily – I’m not loud, but I can be aggressive. (Emily can be very loud and aggressive, especially when someone tries to help her. I mean, the first time Mallory saw Emily was when Em was screaming at a nurse.)
Lola – I’m in the middle, I think, but I lean more towards soft spoken.
Honey - Have you ever considered marrying someone? What is your opinion on marriage in general?
Mallory – I would love to get married – It’s one of my main motivations to get better.
Emily – I don’t think I’ll ever get married or fall in love. Love is bullshit.
Lola – I’m afraid of commitment.
Sandstone - Who in your life has been the most healing for you?
Mallory – Emily and Lola, definitely. They’re the first friends I’ve ever had, and they’re so understanding and sweet to me… I don’t know what I would do without them.
               Emily - …Tristian.
Lola – It sounds silly, but my dog. He makes me so happy.
Yellow - Are you an optimist or a pessimist?
               Mallory – I’m not sure… A pessimist, I guess.
Emily – What do you think? I’m a pessimist. I think anyone who’s as fucking depressed as me is. Except maybe Lola, but she’s weird.
Lola – I try to be optimistic, but it’s hard.
Safety - What is the most traumatic experience in your life?
Mallory – (Spoiler for her story lol)
Emily – (She doesn’t like to talk about it, but it’s when she was sexually assaulted.)
Lola – I’m lucky that I haven’t gone through anything too traumatic. I feel so awful for Emily, though - she’s so young and she’s been through hell.
Sunshine - Are you a more active or lazy person?
               Mallory – I’m not active.
Emily – I used to be… now I’m too exhausted to do anything.
Lola – I’m an obsessive exerciser. I played sports constantly when I was younger, and now I exercise as another way of purging. So, I’m pretty active.
Blue - Are you a creative person? How do you like to be creative?
Mallory – I would say I am! I love to draw and write, but I’m not a very good writer…
               Emily – No.
Lola – I like to paint sometimes, but I’m not that great at it. Definitely not as good as Mallory.
Sky - What is your favorite time of the day?
Mallory – I like the early morning.
               Emily – Night.
Lola – The evening is always nice.
Denim - What is your fashion style?
Mallory – I wear a lot of dark and oversized clothes. Maybe if I didn’t hate my body I’d wear more color, but…
Emily – I only wear leggings and t-shirts.
Lola – I love winter-y fashion, and a lot of neutral colors. I mostly wear brown and beige sweaters along with overall dresses.
Teal - What makes you feel most at peace?
Mallory – Being alone in my room, reading. Bonus points if I have candles lit.
Emily - …I haven’t felt at peace in a long time.
Lola – Going on long walks with my dog.
Turquoise - Are you good at communicating your feelings?
Mallory – I’m getting better at it!
Emily – Not in a good way. I either bottle things up or I have full on breakdowns and angry fits.
               Lola – I think so.
Violet - What is your ideal date?
Mallory – I would love to go to an art gallery with my future girlfriend…
Emily – I’ve said it before. Love. Is. Bullshit. (Shut up you emo cunt, we all know you want to take Mallory to an art gallery and kiss her in the garden)
Lola – Going on a boat ride together and then going home to cuddle and watch movies.
Eggplant - What’s the weirdest thing you’ve eaten?
Mallory – I ate toothpaste once to try and lose my appetite…
Emily – Cotton balls. (Yes, she was one of those people)
Lola – I’ve eaten out of a garbage bin before, if that counts.
Amethyst- What is your aesthetic?
Mallory – Cozy bedrooms, fairy lights, plants, and cats.
Emily – I like the emo kid aesthetic.
Lola – Warm colors, coffee, chilly weather, and tidy spaces.
Mauve - What makes you feel nostalgic?
Mallory – Vanilla candles, autumn colors, and the smell of old books.
               Emily – Nothing.
Lola – Green grass, playgrounds, skinned knees, early 2000’s pop music.
Blush - Do you have a crush on anyone? If so, who is it?
               Mallory – Umm… Emily is, um… cute…
Emily – No one. (It’s Mallory.)
               Lola – Not right now.
Carnation - Are you comfortable with PDA?
               Mallory – If it’s gay.
               Emily – No.
               Lola – I don’t mind it.
White - Do you consider yourself a good person? What’s the best thing you’ve ever done for somebody?
Mallory – I think I’m good, but I don’t know what the best thing I’ve ever done for someone is. Emily told me that I helped her a lot, though…
Emily – No. I’m not. I’m rude and selfish.
Lola – Yes. I think the best thing I’ve done is (spoiler!) convinced Mallory not to kill herself. I’m so glad she texted me.
Lace - What would you name your child if you were to have one?
Mallory – Lucia, after the first cat I became close with.
Emily – One, I’m infertile. Two, I don’t want kids. Three, I won’t even live long enough to have kids.
Lola – I’ve always liked the name Jasmine.
Porcelain - Do you consider yourself a delicate person? Do you fall apart easily?
               Mallory – Yes, very.
Emily – If I was delicate, I would be dead by now.
               Lola – Not really.
Ghost- Are you easily scared? What scares you the most?
Mallory – Loud noises, crowds, gaining weight…
Emily – Spiders. Being taken advantage of. Needles.
Lola – I’m afraid of snakes, dark places, drowning, and being forgotten.
Alabaster - What is the most recognizable thing about you? What are people most likely to notice about you when they first meet you?
               Mallory – I think it’s how pale I am…
               Emily – My scars.
Lola – People always tell me that I’m beautiful and that I stand out in a crowd. I wish I could believe it.
Buff - Would you consider yourself to be fit, fat, or skinny?
               Mallory – Fat.
               Emily – I know I’m underweight, I know I look like a corpse – but I still feel fat.
Lola – I’m kind of fit? But, like, chubby fit.
Brown- Where do you call home?
Mallory – My room and the park by my neighborhood.
               Emily – I don’t have a home.
Lola – My house is my home. I feel safe there.
Gingerbread - What is your favorite holiday?
               Mallory – Christmas!
               Emily – Halloween.
               Lola – I love Christmas.
Umber - Who do you call your friend? How many Friends do you have?
Mallory – Emily, Lola, the stray cats I feed, my mom, and my little sister.
               Emily – Mallory and Lola.
Lola – Mallory, Emily, my parents, my siblings, and my friends from school – Allison, Rosa, Peter, Christian, and Ami.
Carob - What do you look for in a friend?
Mallory – Someone who understands me and doesn’t mind how quiet I can be.
Emily – Someone who cares about me.
Lola – Kindness, loyalty, and understanding.
