S5 opener REAL
#byler#will byers#stranger things#every season besides s4-5 opens with non main characters#for el we got a flashback of the lab followed by her perspective in the scene directly after#and I think for Will we will see something similar#with us getting the flashback of him in castle byers in the UD#followed by him in the present in the scene after#but what exactly would warrant that memory being brought up in association with Will in the present?#mayhaps his connection to the mindflayer and the UD run deeper than we realize…#it’s likely not something he could just rid himself of in s2 and now he’s all good#he literally still feels a connection to everything he is feeling#that means he is still technically at risk of being the spy in some capacity#the massacre at Hawkins lab also was a guiding force for El discovering the ‘truth’ in s4#so it’s likely for Will this instance will operate in a way that re-contextualizes the events in the past up to now#like that time Will suggested they go to the hospital in s3 only for the flayed to be waiting for them#or how flayed Billy knew they were at the cabin…#all while Will was looking cryptic as hell in that scene watching over el#or the fact that he picked Billy in the first place the season after he focused on Will…#you know.. williams#I think the easiest way to introduce the castle Byers flashback is a dream honestly#specifically a dream within a dream#seeing that recent leak and Will looking like either he has a black or hasn’t slept in days#is giving very much ‘I am afraid to sleep bc I’m scared of what will happen’#I think dude is not exactly possessed in the sense that we already saw in s2 with like the particicles#but he’s still vulnerable#the door is still ajar…#no but fr this idea of opening a door in your mind was so blatant in st2 AND s3b of teen wolf#I think a big part of it will be guilting Will over the fact that Will has helped him before without Will telling the others#hence his weird vibe in s3… like he’s already successfully fucked with Will post s2 potentially with us being none the wiser aka here we go

I Couldn't Kill You If I Tried
I'm so excited for this prompt. I had a blast writing it and I hope you guys like it. This one features a flayed Nancy. Thanks again to the anonymous prompter who left this in my asks.
You can read my previous prompts or send me some new ones.
“And I think that’s kind of special, you know?” Robin had been rambling for about ten minutes now. There was something about being close to Nancy to caused her to lose the ability to shut up. She just talked and talked and talked. And she knew why, she knew it was because Nancy made her nervous, she knew that it was because she had a crush on Nancy, but it didn’t change the fact that she constantly felt like a nuisance.
Especially now. Because Nancy wasn’t reacting. She wasn’t nodding her head with a tight-lipped smile. She wasn’t giggling at the ridiculous bullshit Robin shared. She wasn’t recognizing Robin’s existence in the slightest.
It felt like one of the many nightmares Robin had. The ones where she ran her mouth and shared too much, and Nancy found out the truth about her. They never ended well.
“Nance?” Robin hated herself for the way her voice quivered.
There was no reaction.
Robin rushed forward on clumsy feet and walked backwards, simply to be able to get a better look at Nancy. If the girl hadn’t been walking, Robin would have assumed this was all Vecna.
“Nance?” Robin asked again. But as she looked into Nancy’s eyes, she missed the blue. Instead, her eyes were black, as if those irises had been poisoned by a drop of ink. “Nance? Are you alright?”
Maybe it was stupid that she reached her hands towards the other girl. The girl that was still walking. But what else was Robin supposed to do?
The second her fingertip grazed Nancy’s arm, the girl tackled Robin to the ground. There were hands around her neck, squeezing almost as tight as the vines had back in the Upside Down.
“Nance, Nancy, please.” The words were barely audible. Nothing more than shallow breaths. “Please, let go.” Robin’s hands reached for Nancy’s wrists.
Blue returned to Nancy’s eyes as she threw herself off Robin’s body. Robin sat up, her hand stroking over her neck. She had already opened her mouth to comfort Nancy, to tell her everything would be okay, even if she didn’t understand what had just happened. But Nancy muttered a soft sorry before rushing away.
-
“Something is wrong. I think she might be… flayed,” El said, her eyes closed tightly and a drop of blood dripping out her nose.
Robin was sitting in front of her, silently tapping her finger against her knee. She had been beyond agitated when she reached Hopper’s cabin. It still was a bit of a dump despite the work they all had done on it. Robin was pretty sure Joyce was actively looking for another place to stay. Something that shouldn’t be this hard with people moving away left and right.
“She’s fighting though. She’s fighting, but she seems… she seems tired.” El opened her eyes and wiped her nose with the back of her hand. “I tried to reach for her, but she pushed me out.”
“Fuck! Fuck, fuck, fuck!” Robin yelled. She jumped up and started pacing the floor. “Flayed? That means she is like Billy. We all know how that ended. I can’t— She can’t die.”
“Will was flayed at one point and we got it out of him,” Jonathan offered.
“How?” Robin stopped pacing and instead opted to stare at the boy on the couch, Nancy Wheeler’s ex-boyfriend.
“Me and Nancy burned it out of him.”
Robin thought about pushing a hot poker into Nancy’s flesh and a shiver ran down her spine. She couldn’t. She could never hurt Nancy like that.
A knock at the door prohibited Robin from saying anything else. Robin followed Jonathan’s lazy steps toward the cabin door.
“You know it’s not polite to poke into someone’s head without permission.” Nancy looked different. She was wearing tight leather pants and a black shirt. Robin hated to admit that it looked hot on her.
“Nancy?” Robin asked.
“Robin?” Nancy’s face twisted into a sweet smile. It was almost easy enough to pretend it was real.
“What are you doing here?” The words felt bitter in Robin’s mouth. A few days ago, she would have been delighted to see Nancy at her doorstep.
“I’m here for you, of course.” Nancy took a step forward. “I want to finish our little get together from earlier. Aren’t you in the mood?”
Jonathan tried to grab for Nancy’s arm, but she escaped his grasp. It was shocking that Nancy seemed to be moving with even more elegance than she usually did. It somehow made Robin feel even smaller, more inadequate, than she usually did. Because even in her current stance she portrayed a lack of elegance that she had never seen on another girl.
“I’m not sure I am in the mood,” Robin responded, a soft breath escaping her mouth without consent. She had barely registered the way she had been holding her breath.
“Oh, poor Robin. Can’t you make some time for your dear friend. I really would love to speak to you.” Nancy’s voice sounded off. Like she was playing a character.
In the back of her mind Robin heard El’s voice. I think she might be… flayed. So, maybe she was playing a character. Or rather, maybe Vecna was playing a character. Was it Vecna? Or was the Mind Flayer its own boss? Robin wasn’t sure anymore. Maybe she had missed too much of the beginning.
“Nancy.” She felt almost stupid saying that name. Because every step Nancy took toward her made her look less like Nancy.
“Robin, Robin, Robin.” Each time Nancy’s voice uttered her name, she took a step closer. “I’m really going to enjoy ripping your heart out.”
When Jonathan tried to grab Nancy’s arm again, he succeeded. His hand tight around the limb. Robin worried it was hurting Nancy. But the girl simply turned towards the boy she used to love with a smirk on her face. All it took was one push for him to go flying through the room. Robin wanted to scream. But not a single sound escaped her.
Maybe she had gotten lucky that Nancy seemed to be distracted. It would have been the perfect moment for Robin to run, as Nancy walked over to Jonathan’s limp body and El jumped into action to defend her brother. This was how Robin could get out. But she was locked into place, simply destined to watch. So, she did.
She watched as Nancy straddled Jonathan’s body. She watched as those slender fingers gripped for Jonathan’s throat. She watched as Jonathan defended himself and Nancy pushed him in the face. She watched as El threw Nancy off her brother without so much as taking one step closer.
And then Nancy laughed. She laughed as she crawled up. There was blood on her knuckles and a grin on her face and yet she still looked beautiful. Robin was well aware she shouldn’t be thinking about that now.
She continued watching and yet she didn’t see what happened. All she knew was that in the blink of an eye El lay unconscious on the floor and fear gripped at Robin’s heart.
Nancy released a long breath. “Finally, just you and me.”
Robin felt the hairs on her arm stand upright. She wanted to crawl into the corner of the room. She stayed standing where she stood. “Why do you want me?”
Nancy rolled her eyes dramatically. “I don’t, she does.”
“Alright, well what does she want from me?”
“It’s hard to say. But it’s a distraction. You, Robin, are a distraction. And I can’t have any distractions.”
One hand squeezed Robin’s throat. Just like before. She tried to find a sign on Nancy’s face, an indicator of what she was meant to do. Nancy was the one who came up with plans. Nancy was the one who took charge. And now Nancy was gone, and Robin was struggling to breathe in more ways than one.
She thought about dying. She thought about whether or not there would be a heaven and hell and where she’d end up. If the religious were right, she’d be burning for all eternity. But Robin was certain it wouldn’t hurt as much as this very moment. Nothing could ever hurt that much.
Her eyes fell to Nancy’s lips. They weren’t smiling anymore. They weren’t doing anything. Robin wasn’t sure what came over her. She pushed against Nancy’s hand to get closer, to close that damned space between them and then she connected their lips. It was shocking how nice it felt. Or maybe it wasn’t shocking at all because it was still Nancy. These were Nancy’s lips and no matter who had poisoned her brain, that fact would never change.
It took a few moments before Nancy’s lips started moving against her own, even before Robin’s lips moved. But as Nancy started kissing her, her hand slacked and fell off Robin’s neck only to get a hold of Robin’s shirt, pulling. Pulling Robin closer.
The kiss didn’t last long. Perhaps half a minute, and then Nancy pulled away. Her blue eyes were wet with unshed tears, one of her hands was gripping the fabric at Robin’s shoulder while the other dangled next to her body. Her lips were wet, and Robin vaguely realized that it was because of her own saliva.
“Robin?” It was barely audible.
“Nance, are you alright?”
“I— How do you know it’s me?” Nancy sounded like she wanted to cry and perhaps she did.
“Your eyes. You have blue eyes. But when you were flayed, they were dark and… your eyes.”
“You kissed me,” Nancy whispered. Almost as if she spoke too loudly it would cease to be true.
“I did. You kissed back.”
“I did.” Nancy’s hand let go of Robin’s shirt. She missed it.
“I would— do you— I—” Robin couldn’t seem to speak.
“Why did you kiss me?” Nancy interrupted.
Robin sighed. “I was about to die and— I guess I didn’t care about consequences because I had nothing to lose.”
“Would you like— does that mean— I think that—” Nancy stumbled over her words. “Would you like there to be consequences?”
Robin blinked a few times. “What do you mean?”
“I want to kiss you again,” Nancy answered.
“Oh, those kinds of consequences?”
Nancy nodded, eyes locked in on their target.
“I would like there to be those kinds of consequences.”
“Thank God.” Nancy leaned in, and Robin was certain God had nothing to do with this. This was all Nancy.

The first time Steve feels it is when Hopper's new rule about him staying the night takes effect. The moment the feeling hits, however, his body is rushed with so much guilt that Steve can't even stay to fight the rule, barely managing to hug Billy before he's stumbling out to his car.
Steve called Billy when he got home, having recognized the look on the other boy's face. Though he was the toughest person Steve had ever met, he also have moments of so much pure vulnerability that made Steve want to sob. He knew this was one of those, so he didn't waste a single second to reassure him that he wasn't upset, that he was coming back, that fighting with Hopper about this wasn't worth it.
He pretended it made him feel better about the emotion that hit him in the cabin.
That particular feeling laid dormant in him for weeks. The pair got used to the new routine under Hopper's rule because the frustrated 'Kid, I don't have many rules to follow here so can you just follow this one?' was enough for Steve. He didn't want to be the reason this new good thing in Billy's life was strained. It was true they spent a lot of time together, especially after they'd both graduated and had endless time between work. This is a good thing, Steve told himself, Hopper actually gives a shit about Billy in a way his own dad never had before. It was important that this wasn't ruined because of him.
So he would come over after work, Billy teasing him about the sailor outfit only briefly before they'd sit down to help El with her studying. They'd watch movies, or go drive around if Johnathan was around to watch the kids (though Billy constantly argued that they were in middle school, and he was watching himself just fine at that age). Steve would have to remind Billy that everything was different now, after Will had been abducted into the Upside Down. After they'd all explained everything, Billy seemed to take the babysitter role seriously, often taking the kids with him to the pool or dropping them off at the mall with the promise that Steve would give them free ice cream if they had DnD night at the Wheelers' the next day so he and Steve could have the cabin to themselves.
And when the sun started to set, Steve would untangle himself from Billy and fight his way to his car, trying desperately to not be tempted by Billy's pleas to stay. But El had been begging Hopper to let Mike stay the night in the way Steve did, and even Steve could see the dangers in letting that line of thinking continue. So he left, with the promise to call Billy when he got home.
It was an okay system, he guessed.
And then, a month later the feeling returned.
Hopper came home early, telling Steve he needed to head out sooner than normal today. The Hoppers were having family dinner at the Byers house, and the pointed 'family' from Hopper reminded Steve just how much Hopper didn't want him there.
It wasn't that Steve was disliked. On the contrary, Hopper had let it be known in his own unique way that he was cherished by everyone in the cabin. He was good for Billy, he was one of the few who didn't try to talk down to El when she couldn't figure out something that the other kids learned years before, he didn't try to fight the rules like Mike fucking Wheeler did. It was just, he was around all the time. Steve knew Hopper thought his kids needed more space from their boyfriends, something about codependency or some shit.
"Steve can come to dinner, he's practically family," Billy pointed out, that glint in his eyes clueing Steve into the fact that he was willing to fight for this one. He was willing to fight for most things, when it came to Steve. That fact made Steve's chest burn in a way he wasn't willing to analyze just yet.
"Until there's a ring, it's actual family only," Hopper snapped, then turned to point an accusing finger at Steve as he began shoving his books roughly into his bag, "Don't get any ideas, Harrington."
"Wasn't planning on it," Steve choked out, eyes fixed to the tops of his perfectly white Nike sneakers as he finished packing, leaving nothing left to do but leave. He would leave and let his boyfriend enjoy the family dinners he deserved to have years ago.
He'd leave so the others wouldn't have to see the jealousy he was choking on.
"Call me tonight," he offered Billy, until images of the other boy leaving precious family time early to make that call happen flashed through his mind. It would be your fault if he missed out, he finally gets all this happiness and you're gonna try to steal it from him. "Or don't, have fun tonight. I'll see you on Monday."
Steve practically sprinted to his BMW, car door barely closed behind him before he was pulling away from the cabin. The mistake only became apparent when he got home, when he stepped back into the echo chamber he called a home. I'll see you on Monday. They always saw each other on the weekends, always. It was more of a dismissal than anything Hopper had given him, a cold sentence that chilled Steve's bones even now.
And suddenly, the empty house with nothing to offer him but too many shadows he could mistake for Demodogs was too cold, too barren, for him to stay. So Steve grabbed his keys from where he'd just tossed them into the little bowl on the side table. His hands shook as he reclimbed into his car, as he took off without any real destination in mind.
"I'm so fucked up," Steve hissed, hand smacking the wheel harshly as he drove the empty country roads. And he was, wasn't he? The feeling crawled up in his chest again, vines making their way through every inch of him until he wasn't sure where he ended and this jealousy began. Had there ever been a moment when he didn't feel this?
He and Billy had first made a truce over their shitty dads. 'Your dad sounds like an asshole,' Billy had helpfully supplied when a drunk Steve had lamented over the way his father had threatened to disown him if he couldn't get into college next year, if he didn't take the Scoops job. It hadn't always been easy between him and Billy, but they'd found a way to trust each other through nights at the Quarry, passing cigarettes and finally letting someone see a piece of their lives that both boys had kept close to their chests.
But then Joyce saw Neil hit Billy outside of Melvald's, and so began the process of Billy getting the family he'd always deserved, the family that Steve had spent many late nights wishing Billy could have had from the start.
And he was happy for Billy, of fucking course he was.
But now Billy had curfews, and rules handed down from a loving father with no real punishment if they weren't followed. He had so many siblings who loved him, and he had family dinners of all fucking things.
Steve couldn't remember the last time he actually had a dinner with his parents. They were usually gone for months at a time, only coming back if they found out Steve fucked something up bad enough. They'd come home late at night, barely unpacking their bags before his father was laying into him, throwing those words around that were scarred deep in his body. His mom would throw him that look, like she was so sad that this was how her only son had ended up. They'd stay the night and they'd be gone before Steve woke up the next morning.
It wasn't right, to feel any sort of bitterness that Billy got his happy ending. But fuck if it didn't hurt that he didn't get his own, that no one noticed that he still needed help even if there had only been one time his father laid a hand on him.
It had been when his father found out Steve didn't get into college. He'd called him worthless, a disappointment. He smacked him across the face, hard enough to leave a red handprint hours later. He'd never told a soul about it, not even Billy. It wasn't worth it to bring it up when he used to clean off the blood and bruises on Billy's body from Neil's heavy hand. Steve never spoke of it, and it never happened again.
Something flew across the road. Steve yelped, mind drawing to mind oversized dogs with flower jaws and too many rows of teeth. His hands moved on their own, twisting the wheel until he was flying off the road into a nearby tree. The impact was enough to shock all of the hurt and bitterness from his chest, leaving only physical pain, fear.
"Shit," Steve hissed when he brought a hand up to touch a stinging spot on his head, fingertips coming back stained red. He could see the large spidering cracks across his windshield, could see the tree limbs that smashed into his car's hood. He was damn lucky he survived, Steve thought.
But his car was fucked. He could tell that without even trying to start it, though his hands tried to turn the keys anyway without any luck.
He would need to call someone for help. Nancy had a newspaper thing that night, she was busy. He didn't want to intrude on family dinner, not when he'd seen the little burst of happiness in Billy's eyes that the other guy would never admit if he could help it. Steve didn't want to bother any of the kids with his problems, because it would only spread to their parents and shit he didn't need those looks turned in on him. He could already hear it. How could you be so reckless? What were you doing driving around in the middle of the night moping anyway? What problems are really so bad you couldn't deal with it, rich boy?
No, he could handle this on his own.
So Steve grabbed the bat that had a permanent residence in the trunk of his car and set off walking. It was a hot night, muggy in a way he hadn't been expecting. It wasn't long until the back of his neck was slick with sweat, hair matted down in a way he didn't even want to see but made his scalp itch.
Luckily, the old ironworks building came into view. He knew there was a payphone nearby it, after that time that Tommy and Carol convinced him to help graffiti it for fun. He could call the station maybe, get someone to come tow the car.
Just as his fingers were wrapping around said phone, however, something flashed in the corner of his vision. The thing had growled, the sound sending him straight back to the junkyard when he'd fought off that otherwordly creature because there was no one else who could protect those kids, he was the oldest, the stupidest, the most expendable.
Were the Demodogs fucking back? "Shit, shit, shit," Steve hissed, fingers mashing the buttons he'd memorized long ago. He hoped they were all still at the Byers house, hoped that someone would answer him.
"Byers' residence," Hopper huffed, and Steve could've cried with relief right then.
"Hop, it's Steve. I need t-"
"Harrington, I thought we agreed you and Billy need time apart."
"I know, I know, but listen i-"
"You can talk to each other in the morning."
"Wait, no, Hop!" Steve screamed, voice scratchy with the way the words tore from his throat. But it didn't matter, because he could already here the tones that signaled Hopper had hung up. He was well and truly alone.
So Steve did the only thing he could in the middle of the woods with that thing out there. He took a deep breath, tightened his fingers around the bat, and ran.
He ran to find the nearest cover—hands shaking as they ripped open the heavy metal doors of the ironworks building. It was dark and scary as shit in there, but it was better than standing in the middle of the small clearing just waiting for that thing to pounce. He knew how quickly those things could kill someone, knew how easily they could tear his throat out the second he was caught. No, hiding until the thing got bored was the best, the only, option here.
He could hide out all night if he wanted. Hopper would tell Billy that he called in the morning, and when Steve wasn't at the house Billy would come looking for him. And that's all there was to it. He could wait.
Except life never wanted to give Steve a break, did it? Because then something was wrapping around his ankle, and if Steve didn't know any better he'd say it felt slimy like a tentacle. It was pulling until he slammed to the ground, all breath smacking out of his chest and his nose cracking open as he hit the metal ground.
"Wait, no, no!" Steve screamed, fingers scrabbling to find purchase on something, anything, as the tentacle was pulling him further into the building, down some metal stairs into the basement. "No, fuck!"
The tentacle didn't let go, but when he was in the middle of the room it stopped pulling, allowing Steve to flip over onto his back in the hopes his lungs would refill easier.
It was a hope that was dashed the moment he saw what had grabbed him. It was a giant creature, a blob of something he didn't particularly want to think too hard about. One of those tendrils was right above him then, and before Steve could even realize what was happening it smacked over his mouth, the end sliding further down until he was sure he'd never breathe again. His only salvation was when his vision finally blurred and he lost consciousness.
Steve was somewhere dark. The red lightning clued him in to where he was, remembering it from those freaky ass drawings Will had made. He was in the Upside Down. "Hey, hey what the hell?" he called out, wincing at the shakiness in his breath. He didn't want to be here, he knew what kind of things were here and he didn't want to fight them. He wanted to go home to that god-awful empty house, he wanted to tuck himself into bed and sleep with all the lights on. He didn't want to be here.
When he turned, Steve came face-to-face with what could only be described as an army. What looked like hundreds of people, all just standing there. And at the front of them all? It was him, smirking with an evilness that Steve wasn't aware his face could possess.
"Who the hell are you?" Steve asked, unable to move away from this mirror image even though he desperately wanted to.
"I'm you," the other him spoke lowly, grinning as he took a step forward toward Steve. "At least, I'm you for now, while you help me build."
"Build? No, no fuck you," Steve snapped, "I'm getting out of here."
"And go where? Home to that empty house? Will you call the parents who don't love you? Or maybe you'll call the boyfriend you couldn't even look at tonight, because he was happy. No, I think you'll stay right here," the Not-Him spoke, stepping forward and brushing fingers over his cheek in a way that made shivers run through his body. This wasn't normal, this was so fucked in too many ways to explain. He just wanted to go home.
"You know why I know that? Because you aren't needed out there. Everyone else has a life they're building, and you don't serve a real purpose in any of it. You have purpose here though, Steve Harrington, you're useful here. So stay, rest while we take care of everything. You can do that, can't you?"
Steve wanted to say no. He wanted to scream and bang his fists until he woke up back in bed. But he didn't, he couldn't. All he could do was stand there while visions of everyone he knew enjoying their night flashed through his mind like he was a fly on the wall for all of it.
Dustin, Mike, Lucas, and Max all in the Wheeler's basement watching movies that Nancy must have rented out for them. Nancy, sitting in the Hawkins Post office building hunched over something. Tommy and Carol out at a party, trashed and dancing to one of Steve's favorite songs. His parents, at some fancy restaurant sipping wine in Chicago.
Then Billy, sat around a table with Hopper, El, Will, Johnathan, and Joyce. He was actually laughing, the skin around his eyes crinkled with the joy.
No one knew he was here. No one was missing him. He would have spent tonight in that cold empty house anyway, what was spending a night being cold and empty here?
"Fuck you," Steve whispered, unable to fight the tears that slipped from his eyes. He didn't fight as this Other Steve stepped through him, merged with him.
It didn't matter.

Part Five | Masterlist | Part Seven
Tumblr media
“You suspect that the Mill is where the source is coming from?” Nancy asked as she walked back and forth. You looked at Eddie and nodded.
“We saw Billy go in there then the same scream we heard last year at Hawkins lab came inside it,” You told them as you purse your lips. You started to wring your wrists but Eddie immediately stopped you by intertwining your hands. You offered him a grateful smile.
“But you aren’t sure? You didn’t take a peek?” Nancy asked.
“Eddie voted against it,” You leaned your head against Eddie’s shoulder and Nancy turned to him and he was already speaking.
“I won’t risk her being there. Besides, we’re weaponless. We would go down easily,” Eddie reasoned and Nancy nodded.
“Well, we have to think of something. Eleven is currently trying to locate Heather. Maybe she can confirm that—”
“Hey guys, can you settle an argument for us?” Max suddenly cut the conversation off as she and Mike neared the group.
“What is it?” You asked as you looked between the two of them.
“Who do you think should decide El’s limit? Mike or Eleven herself?” Max argued. You looked weirdly at the two to try to make up what they are talking about.
“The way that you framed that is bullshit.” Mike argued back.
“It’s not bullshit Mike. This is your whole problem and its also precisely the reason why she dumped your ass,”
“El dumped you?” You asked Mike. You cannot believe that happened but by judging the way the two kept arguing. You just knew that Max would be capable of convincing Eleven on some beliefs.
“Yeah, because she is conspiring against me.” Mike reasoned and you can see Max rolling her eyes at him. “She’s corrupting her,”
“Enlightening her,” Max corrected him. You can see that the argument wouldn’t be ending whether you or anyone else offered their opinion. Especially how stubborn Mike has become. They continue to argue back and forth.
“She’s risking her life for no reason,” You looked affronted by Mike’s statement. You were about to jump in but Nancy beat you to it. Also, you felt Eddie’s arm wrapping around your waist to keep you grounded.
“For no reason?” She looked as affronted as you are. “Mike, the flayed are out there doing god knows what–”
“Killing, Flaying…” Lucas started to list off things that flayed might be doing at the very minute, in support of Nancy.
“--Transforming people into monsters—” Will offered too as he looked around at everyone.
“And El’s not stupid.” You can’t help but reply as Mike looked at you. You kept your gaze stern at him as you crossed your arms. “She knows her abilities better than any of us. If she say she can do it. She can do it. We have to trust her,”
“Isn’t that how relationships work? Trust?” Nancy added as she glanced at Jonathan who looked down a bit before she turned towards Mike. “And she is her own person,” She added.
“With her own free will,” You added with a raised brow at Mike still looked like he wanted to argue.
“Exactly, thank you!” Max off handedly commented. “El has saved the world twice and she still doesn’t trust her!”
Mike then turned to Max with an enraged look. “You wanna talk about trust, really? After you made Eleven spy on us?”
Now that made your brows raised at Max who looked to be taken aback at his words looking at the side and then you. She sheepishly just offered a grin. You sighed. Now you understand why Mike is being like this. You suddenly remembered how tired Eleven looked . She might be using her powers non stop for the past few days. Still… the kids continue to argue over it as you sighed and laid your head against Eddie’s shoulder.
“These kids are really something,” You can’t help but mutter to him. Eddie shrugged as he watched with an amused expression.
“I kind of get Mike’s fears,” He mumbled quietly to you and you looked back at him with a raised brow. Eddie saw it and pursed his lips. Thinking of a good way to voice out his thoughts. It took a minute before he spoke again. The nose of the argument faded a bit as you focused your attention on Eddie. “He fears for Eleven. It's not that he doesn't trust her. He does. He wouldn’t have agreed with the sauna test. It's just that having the love of your life, risks her life. It strikes fear to the heart,”
You looked at him quite shocked, the argument with him last night resounded in your head. Now you understand why Mike was acting because that is how Eddie acted last night. The reason Eddie blurted those words last night because it's the same reason with Mike. Mike loves—
“---because I love her and I can’t lose her again.” That brought you out of your thoughts. You looked at Mike in shock and it rendered everyone in silence.
Suddenly, the door from El’s room opened and the said girl emerged. Her nose was bleeding with the blindfold still around her neck. She looked around for a bit before she spoke.
“What’s going on?” She asked quietly.
“Nothing. Nothing.” Mike spoke out and all of you shook your heads.
“Just a family discussion,” Lucas offered with a smile.
“Oh.” Silence enveloped from all of you. You looked around before your eyes landed on Eddie who smirked at you before he leaned down to whisper.
“I told you so,” Eddie whispered before he laid a kiss on it as he pulled away. Then he mouthed. “I love you,” at you that made you blush a bit. You hid your face over Eddie’s shoulder as you wrapped your arms around his.
You can’t help but whisper it back. You didn’t know if Eddie heard you but judging by the long kiss he pressed at the top of your head means he heard it loud and clear.
“I found him.” El exclaimed and all of you looked at her.
“Found who?” You asked as El looked at you with a solemn look.
“Billy.”
Tumblr media
You watched with worry as El went under again. You can hear her gasping and trying to catch her breath before she removed her blindfold. Her nose yet again bleeding from the effort. You bit your lower lip as you saw some color leaving her face.
“What is he doing?” Max asked from the couch.
El just shook her head before she stood up. “Nothing. He’s in his room.” Then she proceeded to move into the kitchen. You contemplated going after her but in the end you did. You left them as they formed theories and plans on what to do.
You watched as El filled a cup of water before she shakily drank on it.
“Hey, easy,” You told her as she turned to look at you. She nodded and proceeded to carefully drink her water. You walked near her and reached out to caress her hair. You worriedly looked over her face. It was as pale as yesterday after the fight at the hospital.
“Have you eaten something?” You asked and El just shook her head.
“But I’m okay. There are other things to–”
You cut her off by pulling out a granola bar. You just rummage on the cupboards and offer it to her.
“Eat, you look pale and you need that if you are going to use your powers the whole day,” El carefully took it with a mumble thanks. She started to munch on it as she leaned against the kitchen counter. You walked to do the same beside her.
“Something bothering you?” You asked as El swallowed the bite she took. She looked at the bar and fiddled with it.
“I-I don't know what to do. Him sitting there, it's a trap. I know that,” El mumbled as she looked up at you. You ran your tongue against your lower lip as you thought of what you could say to her.
Silence envelopes the two of you as El finished her food before picking up the glass and drinking the rest of your water.
“Maybe you are focusing too much on what you failed to do rather than really thinking of what you can do,” You told her and El looked at you as she put the glass down. “Maybe you already know what to do. You just need to remember,”
El hummed at that as she turned around to put the glass down. Then you felt her pause and stared at something. You turned just to see her lift a lucky charms cereal box. You watched as she gasped and went into some kind of trance before she set it down. She looked at you with a smile.
“You’re right. I think I know what we can do,” El trailed off before you both walked back to the living room.
“---Killing the flayed won’t stop the mind flayer. We have to find out where it's spreading from.” You heard Nancy speak as the both of you rejoined the group. You immediately went to Eddie’s side who lifted his arm to let you lean against him. While El stood before the group, her face no longer pale. “We have to find the source.” Nancy finished.
“Billy knows it.” El spoke up as she looked around them. “Billy’s been there– to the source.”
“Yeah but–” Mike tried to say but again El cut him off.
“It’s a trap. I know.” El said as she looked over at him before her eyes landed on you. “We can’t go to Billy, but I think there’s another way. A way for me to see where he’s been.”
You found yourself in the kitchen as they followed Eleven’s lead. You knew it would take some time to do what El has to do. You decided to scrounge up some food for everybody since you knew that everyone didn’t manage to have a full meal. Eddie is beside you helping as much as he can.
You glanced back at the living room to see Mike and Eleven talking closely before you turned back to the eggs you are cooking. Your mind drifting a bit as you finally have the peace and quiet to process everything that has happened for the past 48 hours.
“I could hear you thinking,” Eddie mused beside you as he fried some hotdogs. You turned to look at him as you chuckled.
“I can’t help it. Too much has happened,” You told him as you turned off the stove and plated the eggs. Lucas and Will are already there waiting for them as they arrange some drinks. Eddie followed you with the hotdogs and portioned it.
Once it's done, the boys take the plates and give each to everyone with the drinks. You and Eddie picked up your plates as you joined them in the living room as El started to go under.
“Let’s think later, yeah?” Eddie only said to you as he took your face in his hands. "When all of us our out alive and well. We'll process this together." He added and you nodded. Good idea, besides, you all need to know what is going on with El.
As all of you ate, El started to narrate what she saw. She tried to explain as much as she could but there were moments she just grew quiet. She described that she was walking through Billy’s memories. That is what at least the rest of you concluded as El described a place that is impossible to find in Hawkins.
Then slowly, El saw a storm brewing at the distance and she said that she had to go through it.
“Eye of the storm,” You can’t help but mutter as El continues to describe everything until she exhales deeply.
“I think I found it. The Source.” She breathed out.
“Where are you El?” Max asked.
All of you waited for a moment before she spoke. “Brim born Steel works,”
You gasped as Jonathan jumped up towards the directory he and Nancy were fiddling about when you joined them. You turned to Eddie.
“You were right, it was a trap. The Mill was a trap,” You told Eddie as your mind went back to the mill that Billy stopped over. “We might have been ambushed back then,”
Eddie can’t help but pull you closer as Jonathan declares the address.
“It's not far from here,” Nancy commented.
“El, we found it. Get out of there,” Mike told El and she took a deep breath before she froze.
Then she called your name. You looked confused.
“El?”
“I-I see you,” El mumbled, her voice growing worried. “H-how can I see you?”
“You see me there?” You asked as you leaned forward. All eyes fell on you horrified.
“Y-yes,” El stuttered out. “You looked to be tied up and bleeding. Captive.”
“Oh god,” You can’t help but shakily exhale.
“She’s here El. That must be a trap. Get out of there now!” Mike shouted and you watched as El froze.
It was tense until El started to scream.
“Get away!!!” She shouted and as soon as she removed her blindfold. “No!”
Mike immediately caught her as she fell back. Your eyes wide at the last bit of information.
“It's okay El! You're safe! You’re okay,” El clung to him before she frantically looked around as her eyes landed on you. She scrambled to her feet and flung herself at you. You pulled her in her arms as she started to sob.
“El,” you can’t help but shake.
“He’s coming. He’s coming after me a-and he wants you. He wants both of us.” El shakily said and you took a deep breath to control your own. You closed your eyes for a moment before you opened them.
“They won’t get us. We will make sure of that,” You said.
“Yes,” Eddie agreed as you both looked at him. His face set and determined. “He won’t.”
Tumblr media
When El finally calmed down, she managed to tell what she saw. Though she remains beside you and clutching your hand. You held hers back.
“He said it was for me,” El mumbled as she looked around.
“Whatever he is building, it’s not complete as long as we can keep them both away right?” Lucas asked as the group looked to be at a loss.
“I don’t understand, he is building exactly what? Is he talking about the flayed?” Max asked again.
“He must be,” Nancy confirmed.
“Okay, he’s building an army just like we thought,” Lucas concluded as he continued to pace behind the sofa.
“Not just an army to spread,” Mike said.
“He’s building it to stop Eleven,” Will added as the group looked down in dread.
Max mentioned your name before she spoke again. “What about her?”
“She’s the last key. That’s why they want to get her. Billy,” She trailed off as she looked back at you. “Billy is fighting. He won’t comply and the Mind Flayer thinks that if he has you. He would completely surrender,”
“That explains the stalking,” Nancy offered as she looked at you worriedly. “But why he is so fixated with you?”
“I don’t know, he might have just been attached to me because of what happened between us,” You told them wondering too why you became a leverage to him.
“Okay, let’s rewind a bit okay?” Mike suddenly said as he shook his head. “Last year, El closed the gate on him. Obviously, he’s pissed off”
“Royally pissed off,” Lucas offered not knowing he was just adding to the dread the group is feeling.
“And the Mind Flayers know that she’s the only one that can stop him.” Mike concluded. “If she’s out of the way,” He trailed off.
“Game over,” Lucas finished for him.
“He also said that after he took us both,” El said as she pointed at you and her. “He will kill all of you,”
“Well, that’s nice,” Max said sarcastically.
Before anyone can react, a faint loud screeching noise can be heard. Then the fireworks coming from the carnival going on. Nancy straightened and walked towards the window as if she had figured out something but trying to come up with something to say.
“Nancy?” You called out to her.
“It’s just the fireworks,” Jonathan assured her but Nancy shook her head a little bit.
“Billy,” She stared as she turned towards El. “When he told you this, it was here, in this room?”
El nodded and that made everyone straightened. Then a distant thudding noise can be heard making everyone turn towards the doors of the cabin.
Your hold on El tightened while you felt Eddie tensed on your other side. A tense silence enveloped everyone as you all looked around. Trying to decipher that noise. Until your eyes landed on Will who froze and slowly lifted his hand behind neck. At the same time, you felt the familiar jolt at the back of your spine. The same thing you felt at Mrs. Driscoll’s house the first night you were there.
“He knows we’re here,” You and Will both said at the same time, making him look down at you. Confusion was clear in his gaze. “You feel it too?”
You only nodded at him as the jolt spread over your body. You didn’t know you started to shake until El let you go and you were in Eddie’s arms. His soothing voice trying to calm you down.
As soon as you and Will said those words, Jonathan marched outside followed by everybody. You took a deep breath trying to recent yourself and Eddie encouraged you. You and him didn’t know what they saw outside but whatever it was. It garnered a panic.
That made the adrenaline kick in.
“What’s going on?” Eddie asked as they all shuffled inside.
“There was something big coming here. It looked like—” Max tried to explain.
“The Mindflayer,” A loud back of the car was heard before Nancy entered carrying the baseball bats and your katana. She closed the cabin door immediately. “Living and breathing. We have to barricade the house and get weapons.” She commanded.
“You kids get everything you can to cover the windows and the door,” Nancy said and turned toward to the backdoor for the shed. Hoping Hopper kept a gun or anything inside it. When no one moved she turned to them with a raised brow. “Come on! We have no time,”
All of you scrambled, your panic being shoved at the back of your mind but your body isn’t cooperating. While the kids moved and the other two took off to take weapons. Eddie kneeled before you as he held your arms.
“Sweetheart, I need you here. Okay? He’s coming and I need you snap out of it,” Eddie said as he slightly shook you. You tried to catch your breathe but you shook your head.
“E-Eddie I can’t. I-I-I c-can’t,” You stuttered. Eddie closed his eyes briefly trying to keep his own panic and tears at bay.
“P-please sweetheart. We need to. You need to. Everyone needs you now okay?” Eddie said. “So breathe with me,”
A loud screeching can be heard from outside and oddly that helped you to follow Eddie’s instruction. Though as you pulled yourself out of it. You were handed your katana as the others had completed the barricade. You stood in between Nancy and Eddie. He was holding the Bat with nails while Nancy was holding what looked to be a shotgun.
“W-where did you get that?” you can’t help but ask her quietly.
“Hopper’s Shed. Policemen always keep one,” She reasoned and you nodded. Trying to recenter your mind and focus on keeping everyone alive. Keeping you alive. “We won’t let him get you. I promise,” She mumbled and you looked at Nancy with a grateful smile.
Then the lights started to flicker. That made you look up and clutched your Katana. You felt a hand behind you and you glanced to see El. You urged her to move closer to you and she did. Trying to seek comfort from each other.
The lights continued to flicker and the cabin shook ahead. Everyone held their breaths anticipating the attack— when you felt the jolt in your spine again.
“It’s close,” Will confirmed it for you and that made you swallow. You looked at Eddie for a moment whose eyes were shaking as he looked around. The waiting and anticipation made you start to shake again but only the small hand behind your back kept it at bay.
You won’t be coming out of this alive with panic. You might not want to think about it but it would be just like Utah. This time it won’t be men that are animals after you. This time it's interdimensional monsters that want to devour you and use you against your friends.
You don’t know what is much worse now but fuck, at least you have a group to be with now. Come one you need to— the whole place went silent. The light stopped blinking and all of you tensed.
Crash!
All of you screamed as a fleshy tentacle entered the cabin, breaking on one of the covered windows. That made half of the group backed up against a wall. The tentacle went straight to Eleven but before it did. You and Jonathan lifted your weapons. Him an Ax and yours’ a sword. You both hacked at it making the creature squeal. You continue to slice through it but it took a few more wings on the both of you before you even reached the half it. Before you can lift the blade up again, the tentacle turned to Jonathan making you miss and threw him against the wall.
The tentacle was about to dive for Jonathan when Nancy started shooting. Though she only had three shots in before the gun clogged. She backed away and you decided to step in. Slicing through the tentacle finally but another came in.
You heard your name being shouted as you turned another tentacle coming after you through the same window. Eddie stepped in and slammed the baseball bat against it. The creature screeched though it was stuck and Eddie had to put all his strength to pull. Once he did, the tentacle threw him towards the wall.
“Eddie!” That made the tentacle turn to you and was about to lift you weapon when it threw you off making you lose your grip. You were backed and the tentacle was about to dive to you but it stopped a few inches only. You turned to see El using her powers. Determination in her face.
“Not her,” She only said as she threw the tentacle off you. It backed tracked and went out of the house. Everybody can only watch as it slithers out.
“Holy shit—” Max exclaimed as another tentacle pierced through the wall this time coming after El but she stopped it with her powers. Then another came on the other side. You stood there frozen as you watched it unfold. El looked back and forth between them before she determinedly looked ahead and pulled her arms towards herself effectively cutting them off. Making it slither out of the house.
But then, it pierced through the roof and got El’s foot and started to drag her out.
Your eyes widened. “El!” You snapped out of your frozen state and grabbed on to her hand but then a second tentacle came out and grabbed you. Making everybody scream.
El was being pulled by Mike and the kids while you were held on to by Eddie and Jonathan. You can’t help but cry out as you hold on tightly to Eddie.
“No! No! You can’t fucking take her,” Eddie shrieked as he pulled with all his might.
“Nancy!” Jonathan shouted and for a moment you thought that was it for you as they all struggled. You looked towards El as the children struggled then you looked at Eddie. You don’t want to but you know El is more important this time. You fucking knew what you had to do. You have to give them more time. You glanced behind them to see Nancy struggling with the shotgun.
You let the tears fall in your eyes. You are growing weak, you could feel it. Whatever the tentacle doing, its too strong. You knew what you had to do. You have to give them time.
“Tell Steve I’m sorry,” You told him as Eddie shook his head.
“No, No! Whatever you are thinking that is not the fucking answer!” Eddie shrieked. You just continued to cry as you looked down at him.
“I’m sorry Eds. I promised the vacation right?” You told him as you started to loosen your hold on his hand.
“No! Don’t you fucking dare!” Eddie shouted.
“I won’t be able to do that but promise me you will still go,” You told him.
“No! You’ll go with me. We will do that vacation. Fuck baby! Don’t do this!” He shrieked.
Then you heard your name as you looked over at El who was shaking her head as she cried out. You only offered a smile before you turned to Eddie.
“I love you,” that was the only thing you said for the last time to him. You closed your eyes not wanting to see his horrified expression.
Then you let go.
To be continued...

Fair warning: this post is VERY anti-Billy Hargrove and a bit critical of Jim Hopper's behavior in season three of Stranger Things. If any of this will upset you, whether it's because it will shake a foundation of an important comfort character or otherwise (if so I am sorry you got stuck with Billy as your comfort character /hj), then for your own sake please don't read on. I may be anti-Billy Hargrove but I am not anti your mental health. This post also contains spoilers for season three of stranger things.
Preface for this rant:
I so often see posts calling out Billy's racist behavior, but I don't often see the problem of how Billy's behavior is framed (how he is framed, not his behavior its self) and how it is potentially problematic being brought up, and I have a lot of questions. Anyway, here is the rant.
Yes, Billy is a consistently racist and evil villain, no doi. I don't think the problem is inconsistency in his behavior (because he was consistently... how do I put this... a bigoted and abusive pig). I feel the problem is the inconsistency in how he is framed. When analyzing the show one could discern that, for example, Billy did not save El completely on his own accord, but statements like this are all speculation. This is never truly said/shown. The show frames him as a martyr and a victim.
I think it is important to point out here that the show has twice killed off, or "killed off", men who had, in Billy's case racist pig-like, and in Jim's case just kinda shitty behavior, and acted as though we were supposed to just... forgive them? I do want to clarify I am not AT ALL saying that Jim's crappy behavior in season three is equal to LITERALLY TRYING TO MURDER SOMEONE BECAUSE OF THEIR RACE, but much of his behavior in season three (like calling Joyce crazy) was not ok either (I am a Jim fan, just not a fan of how he was written in season three). Anyway, yeah, Billy is a racist pig, no crap, I don't think that should ever be in question. I feel what should be in question is; why was the show so determined to make us feel sorry for him, and possibly forgive him?
The impression I get from season three is that the writers knew they had dug Billy into such a deep "being a terrible person" hole that they couldn't have him change of his own will. They made him so abusive they couldn't have him apologize and alter his behavior, and then have him be invited into the group. Max wouldn't have just forgiven him- because he wasn't a stupid teenager who spray-painted "Nancy the Sl*t Wheeler" on some movie theater who could be easily redeemed. He is abusive and racist and almost a murderer, as we know. So they put him in a position where he was FORCED to "change". We see him suffering and in pain, and we are supposed to feel sorry for him. You know how I know this? Because they frame these scenes where he is flayed as torturous. They have him cry, twice (though for the one in the sauna I think that could easily have not been actually him). He cries in the cabin while threatening El as if he wasn't an almost murder. But more importantly, I know we are supposed to see him suffer and forgive him because Max saw him suffer, and her opinion of him changed. They wrote her reaction to his death as though she was Will reacting to Jonathan's death. She SCREAMS in AGONY after/while he dies. SCREAMS IN AGONY for the man who placed her in constant positions of fear in her own home, and wanted to KILL one of the people that means the most to her. If they didn't want us to pity him/forgive him, why would Max?
I just think it's weird and something to ponder, ya know?? I would love to hear from anyone who has any insight on this whole situation, whether you agree or disagree with me :))

Imagine Nancy Trying To Find You After The Events at The Star Court Mall
Tumblr media
Title: My Savior
Pairing: Nancy Wheeler x Fem Plus-Size!Reader
Request By: @soggy-enchilada
Warning: Mention of Blood and little angst
Worry is all that flooded Nancy’s mind.
The disappearance of so many people, due to the events at Start Court Mall, made the town distraught as they tried to find their loved ones. So many were consumed and flayed to make the body mass of the mindflayer. Nancy knew that everyone in her family was safe as they went back home after the event of that night but there was one person she was fretting over. You.
You, her axe wielding outdoorsy rescuer who she secretly was smitten for. When Johnathan and Nancy went out looking for Barb and Will, you had been in the area. You were collecting wood for your hidden cottage when you felt yourself being watched. Dropping the forgotten kindling on the forest floor, you held you axe in hand to protect you from whatever unknown that was in the forest.
“NANCY!”
“JOHNATHAN!”
You heard screams coming from not too far away.
‘What the hell are people doing out so late in the forest?!’ you thought. At least you knew the forest like the back of your hand, unlike the locals who were out here with you. Still being cautious about whatever was watching, you followed the sound of the screams holding your axe ready to attack.
You found the boy first. Slightly lanky in posture, bowl cut hair, adorned in a  black jean jacket and flashlight in hand. A foul smell lingered in the air of similar odor to decaying animal flesh. You noted the smell earlier when you first ventured into the woods that night but never thought to go investigate. The smell was the strongest here.
“Nancy?” the boy called out getting on all fours in front of a tree. You observed from behind a tree close by, wondering why he was talking to the stump part of the tree. Not to seconds later you could see a hand emerge from the stump, making the boy jump backwards. From your view from behind a substantial tree, it scared you half to death to see a slimy small human hand emerge from the tree. You crouch down in the wilderness, slowly making your way closer to what’s happening. You wanted to be close enough if you had to step in but far enough to be able to run away.
“JOHNATHAN!” a voice screamed coming from the tree. Johnathan, you assumed, responded immediately after being startled by the hand before calling out to the voice.
“Nancy!?” Johnathan scrambled to reach for the hand popping out of tree and started pulling like he was in a game of tug-o-war. Pulling with all his might, he dragged her out from the slimy abyss in the tree, and she landed on top of his form.
Thinking that she was free, Nancy let out a long held frightened sigh at what just happened to her. Where did she go? What was that thing?!  Flooded her shaken mind. All that mattered was that she was out of there and was now safe.......or so she thought.
Gone without notice to the locals, except you, materialized an appendage of some sort that reached through the flesh veiled cavity. What looked to be a clawed hand unfurled from the form of a fist  and seized the teenage girl by the foot.
‘It’s got me,’ is the only singular thought that popped into Nancy’s brain as she felt her heart drop to the bottom of her toes where the creature had a grasp on her and tugged. Nancy let out a yelp as she felt herself being tugged backwards towards the hole, startling Johnathan. It took him a couple of seconds to realize until he felt Nancy being pulled off of him.
“Hold on Nance!” Johnathan clambered back onto his feet before grabbing under her arms and tugged back. The creature was strong and Johnathan could feel his feet starting to give out beneath him.
“Don’t let me go!”
“I won’t!”
It was now or never you thought. You let the creature get to the locals or you help out. You chose the latter. You ran from behind your new hiding spot behind a fallen tree, axe glistening in the moonlight, ready to help the locals.
Too focused on the monster grabbing Nancy’s leg, neither Johnathan and Nancy noticed your incoming approach. Johnathan gave one massive tug, exposing  the arm further out from the decaying hole.
You wound up for the swing, axe coming from directly behind your head down onto the creatures extremity.  Clean cut to the bone off came whatever limb that tried to grab the poor girls leg. Thank god you had sharpened your axe that morning.
The creature let out a haunting shriek feeling the detachment of it’s limb to it’s body and retreated the rest of the limb back to through the flesh veil.
You looked at where the girl was pulled out of. It was some type of fleshly decaying hole that was closing as to be no longer used and revert back into the bark and wood it originally was.
The detached hand laid limp on the ground. You bring the axe down one more time to make sure that it wouldn’t suddenly start moving. You had seen John Carpenter’s ‘The Thing’ too many times to know to always make sure it was really dead. You could feel small splotches of blood from the creature on your round cheeks as if they were supposed to be freckles.
You took a couple of breaths trying to calm down from the sudden adrenaline rush before turning to the two horrified teenagers still on the ground.
You dropped the axe to the side to make yourself less intimidating to them and spoke, “What the hell are you guys doing out here?”
“We could ask you the same,” spoke Johnathan.
“I live out here,” you stopped before offering each of them a hand. They looked at each other and then decided to take your hand. Johnathan got up with your help fine, but Nancy stumbled into your stocky form.
“Woah there, you’re probably feeling some effects of shock...” you trailed off trying to get a name from the girl
“Nancy, and this is Johnathan,” she motioned to Johnathan behind her as she moved back from you regaining her footing, “How did you find us?”
“Well when your screaming bloody murder it’s not that hard to find someone. You guys had let the whole forest know you’re out here. You guys should come with me if you want to survive the night out here,” you warned them.
Nancy could feel the genuineness in your words, after all you just saved her from that thing. Nancy was about to take a step forward to follow you, but Johnathan held out an arm to stop her.
“Wait. Why should we go with you?” Johnathan sized you up, trying to tell if you had other intentions. You didn’t like when people would give you once overs, especially after you save their life.
“Do I need to remind you that I just saved you and your friend here,” you scoffed, “besides I know the forest like the back of my hand. I can show you back wherever you came from in the morning, it’s too dangerous to go now. I have a cottage that’s a five minute walk from here, but it’s fine by me if you get lost. I was just trying to help,” you picked up your axe and rotated to the walking direction of your cabin.
“Wait we’re coming,” Nancy spoke up gathering her bearings and grabbing Johnathan by the arm and dragging him along.
Nancy was thankful that she followed back to your cottage instead of getting lost that night in the woods. Over the next two years, Nancy would visit once a week. Being saved from a monster can really bond two people together.
A lot of the time she would help tend to the greenery placed in your cottage. You had an affinity for growing plants, flowers, and natural herbs in your house. In addition to your indoor plants, you kept a small self built green house in the back where you held all your vegetables and fruits. In the spring and summer, elegant colourful flowers would surround your property like it had came straight out of a fairy-tale.
Being around you was very calming, Nancy thought in comparison to the monster hunting life, it was peaceful almost. She could see why you liked living here in the woods.
You told her that your parents had home schooled you in the cabin up until last year when they had their ‘car accident’. There was two reasons why you stayed out of suburban Hawkins and lived in the forest you told her. You stayed because it’s your parents house and it was the only thing you had let of them and you don’t think that Hawkins would be very accepting of you per say.
You waited a year of knowing Nancy, before you officially told her of your liking towards the same sex. Instead of revolting away in disgust or showing if she uncomfortable, she sat there shocked, not in a bad way but just in surprise. You told that she wouldn’t have to worry about you liking her or any of the sort, you told her that you just wanted to get it off your chest.
It might have stopped your crush from ever growing bigger than it already was on Nancy but it didn’t stop hers. Yes she might have went out with Steve and Johnathan, and liked being with them, but that didn’t stop from hiding her curiosity towards you.
Nancy was worried when she hadn't heard from you in the days leading up to the battle of Star Court, but she was so caught up in everything that she didn’t have time to make a trip out to you in the forest. When she learned that Brimborn Steel Works, the breeding ground for the mind-flayer was near your property, she hopped into her mom’s station wagon and sped to your property, giving no regard for the speed limit on the road.
Pulling up onto the dirt road path that lead up to your house, she spotted your red Chevy LUV pickup at the side of the cottage in it’s usual spot. That meant one of two things to Nancy. You were either inside live and well tending to your plants or not inside at all and had been taken by Billy Hargrove to be used by-
Nancy didn’t even want to think of the possibility of you being dead.
Nancy pulled on the sleeves of the sweater she wore. It was actually your sweater. You gave her the sweater that night as something temporary to use for clothing instead of wearing the mucus-caked one’s she had on. It was a bit big on her petite form but kept her warm nonetheless. She never really gave it back, but you didn’t mind her wearing it. It looked better on her, you’d believe as you’d try to suppress a smile.
Nancy got out of the and took notice that the flowers had been wilting while some had died and looked to be rotted.....just like the pumpkins on the Wright farm pumpkin patch last year.
Nance could feel the spike of fear stabbing her heart and rushed over to your front door banging on it to see if you were home.
“(Y/N)! (Y/N)” Nancy shouted still pounding of the door.
No use. Nance went to the side window where your bedroom was. Everything looked still and untouched in your bedroom. On the inside window sill sat the small fern plant that Nancy had bought you for your birthday a couple months ago. The fern was no longer a bright and lively green but now shriveled and looking ready to turn to dust.
Nancy went back to your front door and tried banging again. No answer. You would have answered though. The only people that visited you were her and Johnathan.
‘No answer, wilted flowers, dead fern, untouched room, no answer, rotten flowers, dead fern, untouched room’
Nancy collapsed to the ground knowing the worst happened.
It got you.
Quiet sobs racked her form as she felt her heart rip string by string. She lost her savior.
You had just finished cutting down logs for the day in the forest. Wheelbarrowing them back  to the cottage, you noticed Nancy’s mom’s station wagon on your dirt path. You put the wheelbarrow down and jogged down the path to your cottage.
You were so worried about Nancy(more than anyone) and everyone especially since the steel works was on your way to town and you knew that that thing was there. You didn’t want to risk going into town if it meant risking your life against that abomination. You guess that they took care of it if that meant Nancy is here.
You looked at your porch as you jogged to your cottage and notice a petite form, one that you could recognize anywhere, curled in a ball on it.
“NANCY!” you shouted still jogging over, “NANCY!”
She heard her name and lifted her head. There you were, coming over like a dream that she made up in her head to console her about your death. But you were too real for her to be imagining right then. She wiped the tear tracks from her face and then clambered to get up and run to you.
Nancy ran into you not wasting any second longer to be consoled by you in your comforting soft arms.
“I thought you were dead!” Nancy cried into strong shoulder, hugging you, “Please don’t ever scare me like that (Y/N)! I can’t loose you”
“Hey, hey it’s alright Nancy Drew. I’m here, I’m alive” you pressed a comforting kiss against her forehead.
“But but the flowers! You didn’t answer, I thought they took you,” Nancy whimpered still in slight hysterics.
“Nance everything is okay, well maybe not the flowers, but I’m fine. I was just out chopping wood. I had to make some of the flowers wilt in case anyone came around and thought I was here and take me. But hey, I’m not going anywhere,” you leaned your forehead against hers
“Promise?”
“What kind of savior would I be?”.

Chapter Eight
A/N: I’m actually pretty proud of this chapter. Don’t forget to leave a comment or reblog if you’ve been enjoying this ride so far.
Word Count: 2.7k
Pairings: Steve Harrington x OC, Nancy Wheeler x Jonathan Byers x OC
Summary: While El looks for the flayed, Hawthorne reveals a secret he’s been keeping in for a long time.
Somehow, Hawthorne was stuck sitting in the waiting room, watching over the kids. He supposed someone had to look after them, especially since Nancy and Jonathan decided they’d be the ones to visit Mrs. Driscoll.
He was sitting next to El, who was reading a magazine, mostly flipping through and glancing at the pictures. He’d already heard about her break up with Mike, and he didn’t need to be able to read her mind to know it was bothering her. Especially when he’d caught her glancing over in Mike’s direction a few times.
“How are you holding up?” Hawthorne asked. El glanced up at him, a confused look on her face. “You know, with you and Mike?”
El shrugged. “Okay.”
As she turned back to her magazine, he debated exactly how to help her out. It wasn’t exactly Mike’s fault, though he hadn’t been the smartest either. Hawthorne remembered what Hopper said about his “talk” with Mike, and he couldn’t help feeling that was the real problem here. Not that he was surprised. Even he was a bit annoyed with Hopper handling this the way he had.
“You know, I think you two should talk,” he finally said. “I mean, you both seem miserable without each other?”
“Miserable?” El set her magazine down, clearly wondering what he was getting at.
“You know, like...sad. But, like, really sad,” Hawthorne explained. “If you two don’t talk to each other, I’m sure it could get a lot worse.”
She at least appeared to be considering her words. Sure, he didn’t know how solid his own advice was, but he was a little tired of watching them tip-toe around each other. He could practically see the wheels turning in her head. “Like Nancy and Jonathan.”
Hawthorne sighed, slumping in his seat. “Yeah, something like that,” he said. “They’re working it out, but it happens. Fights happen.” It wasn’t like he was some expert on relationships, and he didn’t really know where all of this was coming from, but he hoped it was helping her, even if only a bit.
Turning to her, Hawthorne gave El a reassuring smile. “Just don’t hold a grudge against him, okay? Most guys your age do dumb things.” He was glad that part earned a laugh from her. “Hell, I do dumb things all the time.”
For all his attempts to keep Nancy and Jonathan together, it was taking a toll on him. And, though it was taking some time, it seemed like the two of them were finally making progress. There was still some understanding needing to be reached, but it was something. He didn’t plan on mediating forever. Eventually, they’d have to own up to their own mistakes - they both had some apologizing to do, he was sure - and he was just glad to help kick-start the process. If anything, he didn’t want El and Mike to let this sour their relationship. They were kids, and they deserved to learn from their mistakes just as much as anyone else.
Hawthorne let his advice sink in and left when Mike came over to talk with El. He was more than happy to give them space to work things out, though he made a mental note to have a talk with Hopper about the mess he’d made.
By now, he was starting to realize Nancy and Jonathan had been gone for a while. And maybe there was nothing to worry about, but he had an awful feeling. It was sitting in his gut, constantly pestering him. With how easily things went to shit again, Hawthorne hoped they were okay. It occurred to him to check on them, but there was no way he was going to get past the receptionist. And if he did manage that and it turned out he was worrying for nothing, he would just feel like an idiot.
Just as his anxiety was starting to get the best of him, the lights started flickering. Normally, Hawthorne might pass it off as nothing, but that usually wasn’t a good sign. He’d learned that by now. Thankfully, he wasn’t the only one to notice, and even worse was how jumpy Will was. The poor kid looked pale and unbelievably freaked out. It was becoming abundantly clear to Hawthorne that he may well have been right to be worried.
Will’s shaky, “he’s here,” was enough for it to dawn on Hawthorne that this was about to get pretty intense, as much as he hated it.
At the very least, they’d missed the action so far, but neither Nancy nor Jonathan looked like they were in very good shape. And as soon as they explained everything that happened, they were off to the cabin.
Rex came running over when Hawthorne let them all inside, and El ended up locking herself in her room as she tried to track the flayed. Hawthorne tried to busy himself with feeding Rex while everyone else was working out their plans. In the grand scheme of things, he wasn’t sure how to help, and he felt pretty useless. He’d hardly done anything to help. If only he could stop being a coward for just a minute, he might be able to contribute something.
He’d been so deep in thought that he’d accidentally spilled some of the dog food. His only response was a deep sigh as he moved to clean it up. Hawthorne looked up when he noticed Nancy trying to help. She opened her mouth to speak a few times, trying to find her words.
“Are you okay?” Nancy asked.
If there were any words to describe how he was feeling, “okay” was not one of them. “Fine,” Hawthorne lied, standing again.
It was clear she didn’t totally believe him. Even when they finished cleaning, she didn’t let up. “If this about what’s been happening between Jonathan and I, I’m really sorry you got caught in the middle of it.”
Sure, that might have been part of his stress, but he had no clue how to even explain everything that was going on in his head. It was so much more than that.
“No. I mean, not really.” Hawthorne sighed, looking down. “I guess I’m just stressed out with everything that’s been happening. After last time, I really hoped all of this was behind on.”
The concerned look on her face only made him feel bad for putting all of this on her. Nancy had much bigger things to worry about. Seeming to sense his apprehension, she took his hand and made him look her in the eyes.
“Everything’s gonna be fine, okay?” Whether it was true or not, he almost believed her. “We’ll get through this just like last time.”
“Nance, I don’t even know where my sister is, or if she’s even okay. I don’t know where Hop is either, and I feel like I’m doing a terrible job of keeping it together.”
Nancy paused for a moment before asking, “You saw it, didn’t you? When you were walking in the parking lot?”
Hawthorne had almost forgotten about his vision, but he could never forget the dread he felt in that moment. “Yeah. It wasn’t much, really,” he admitted. “But I freaked out.” If it came down to it, he wasn’t sure if he’d really be able to help any of them. This was worse than last year, and he just knew that, given the chance, he’d freeze. Just like he always did.
Somehow, Nancy always had a way of making him feel better, and this was no exception. “You’re stressing yourself out too much,” she said. “Don’t forget. You’re not alone. You have me, Jonathan, the kids, your family. None of us will ever make you deal with this alone.”
Deep down, he knew that. It felt good to hear it, though. Sometimes, he needed a reminder that he wasn’t carrying all of this weight alone.
Hawthorne offered a slight smile as she kissed him on the cheek. Now that he was feeling at least somewhat better, he let her get back to planning. He let her borrow the phone in the meantime, and he actually managed to feed Rex. The poor dog probably needed it. Hawthorne was feeding him as regularly as possible in all this mess, but he felt bad for leaving him for so long every now and then.
Just as Hawthorne was settled, Nancy finished her final phone call, none of which produced any results. It wasn’t looking so good. With no clue where any of the flayed were, they had no clue what they were doing. It was like they’d just disappeared, and they weren’t any closer to finding the source of the flaying.
Worse still was the argument happening between Mike and Max. Hawthorne didn’t feel so inclined to agree with either of them, no matter how much they yelled. Realistically, both of them were right. He’d learned the hard way that even if they explained to El how damaging it could be to push herself, that didn’t mean it would stop her. Mike was very adamant on finding a new plan, though, and Hawthorne couldn’t blame him. El had been locked up for quite some time now looking for the flayed.
“You’re treating her like some kind of machine when she’s not a machine, and I don’t want her to die looking for the flayed when they’ve obviously vanished off the face of the earth,” Mike snapped. “So can we please just come up with a new plan? Because I love her, and I can’t lose her again.”
His words were met with silence as they sank in. Hawthorne could hardly believe what he’d heard, but Mike said it with such confidence and conviction that it was almost frightening.
Before anyone could say more, El finally came out of her room. She looked fine, if not a bit exhausted, and Hawthorne thanked whatever omnipotent being there may or may not be that she was okay.
“What’s going on?” El asked, glancing at each of them curiously.
Mike was quick to cover for them. “Nothing. Nothing.”
“Just a family discussion,” Lucas added.
“Oh.” El seemed satisfied enough with their answer, even if she didn’t totally believe it. “I found him.”
Tumblr media
El usually needed some quiet when she was tracking. The TV was turned on, only playing static for her, and her blindfold was back on. Everyone was trying to stay quiet for her sake in the hopes she would find something.
Thankfully, she found Billy, just like she’d said, though they didn’t have much to go off of with the information she had. He was sitting in his room, which Max confirmed wasn’t normal. It was clearly a trap.
But El was insistent that she might know a way to figure out where he’d been, and while Hawthorne didn’t want her to push herself, he knew it was the only way to get anywhere. They hadn’t been having any success on their own.
After taking a break, El put the blindfold back on and tried to look again.
Hawthorne sighed and sat back while she gave it another go. “So, what do we do if this doesn’t work?” he asked quietly, trying not to bother El.
“Don’t you have powers?” Mike asked. “Can’t you help somehow?”
Nancy gave him a stern look. “Mike.”
“We’ve never seen him use them. Maybe he just doesn’t have any,” Lucas said.
“If they took him to the lab, he has to have them.”
Hawthorne raised an eyebrow. “Yeah, hi. Standing right here.”
“Well, do you?” Mike asked.
There was no way around this. Hawthorne was going to have to explain himself eventually, and he knew that.
“Yeah. It’s just...not a good idea for me to use them,” he claimed.
“But whatever it is you can do, it might help El.”
“I haven’t used them in years. The last time I did that things went wrong.”
“We can’t push everything onto her, though. She’s going to wear herself out.”
“You told her you’d trust her, though.”
“And I do, but I know she could use the help.”
Max finally cut in. “Okay, seriously. You’re gonna break El’s concentration.”
Hawthorne and Mike finally shut up, but they gave each other one last look of disdain. Nancy pulled him and Jonathan over to the kitchen where they wouldn’t bother El.
“Hey, don’t worry about him, okay? He’s just worried,” she said.
Hawthorne sighed, leaning against the counter. “I know. I get it,” he replied. “I’m just as worried she’s going to wear herself thin, but I don’t think I’d even be all that helpful.”
“What happened the last time you used your powers?” Jonathan asked. “It sounded like it was pretty bad.”
That felt like the understatement of the year. But if he trusted anyone with this, it was both of them. He might as well get it off his chest.
“I just...they made us do a lot of tests, you know? The scientists liked to up the stakes each time, and they’d already learned a lot about my powers. I really just tried to go along with what they asked of me because it was better that way.” Hawthorne swallowed dryly. “Whenever I touch people - any sort of skin contact - I absorb their strength, memories, abilities, sometimes even pieces of their personality. But it always wears off eventually, and they just pass out until it wears off.
“One time, I guess the scientists were curious what would happen if I tried it on one of the other kids. Maybe I could absorb their powers. And they were right. It worked the first few times, and it only lasted about half an hour at most. They’d always be fine afterwards. But one time, it didn’t go that way at all. There was this kid they had me try it out on and-” Hawthorne almost couldn’t finish, but he dismissed their looks of concern, trying to press on. “It didn’t wear off that time. And he went into a coma. Pretty sure he didn’t make it.”
Jonathan placed a hand on his shoulder, giving him a reassuring look. “How long did it take to wear off?” he asked.
“It didn’t.” Hawthorne avoided their eyes, knowing he’d break down otherwise. “I still have his powers. I don’t use them, but I could any time. It’s kind of been eating at me.”
They shared a look, almost seeming to debate if they should ask him anything else. But he knew they’d stop if he really asked them to.
Nancy finally braved one more question. “What exactly were his powers?”
Hawthorne hesitated. “Shapeshifting.”
In his mind, it wasn’t anything monumental. Nor was it going to do them any good. And while he had his powers mostly under control by now, he wasn’t sure how he’d feel about knocking anyone else out if he didn’t have to.
Before he could go into it any further, El announced she’d found the source. They raced over as Max asked where it was.
“Brimborn...Steelworks.”
Jonathan grabbed the phone book and flipped through the pages in a hurry. “Found it. 6522 Cherry Oak Drive.”
“That’s close,” Nancy realized.
El still hadn’t come back yet, which was beyond worrying. Mike was trying to call her back, but it didn’t seem like she could just yet. There wasn’t anything they could do to bring her back. She had to do it herself, but it didn’t look like she was ready yet.
The room went silent as they waited hopefully for her to get out of there. El finally threw off the blindfold, screaming.
Hawthorne felt his heart sink when she started crying, throwing herself into Mike’s arms. He raced back to the kitchen and grabbed her a glass of water as Mike calmed her down. They made her sit down and take a drink, giving her enough time to bounce back from whatever she saw.
Hawthorne was taken by surprise as she clung onto him, clearly exhausted and scared beyond belief. He tried to calm her down, wrapping his arms around her as he let her cry. If he was having any doubts before, they were only growing and settling in his mind, but he would never back out on any of them, but least of all El. Mike had been right about her needing all the help she could get.

Imagine being Steve Harrington’s Girlfriend
Part 1
Part 2
Part 3
So there are spoilers for the third season in this part and part 4... so beware!
Tumblr media
1985 (continued)
- They never showed. Panic setting into your gut as your knee bounced, kids planning as you snapped, "No! No more dangerous plans, we stay here and we wait for..."
"For who! Hop, Mrs. Byers, Steve!" Lucas yelled
"No we need a plan." Max yelled, "It is my brother."
"No!" You screamed, El looked to you, "[Y/N], I can fix this, you know I can."
"No, we wait." You snapped, "Now please, can you all go to bed, tomorrow we make a plan."
-When El found Hopper, you sat with the boys, and listened to the plan, and then Nancy showed up.
-When you listened to Nancy and Johnathon, you felt Nancy staring at you weird, almost like a glare.
-When you went to Heather's house you asked how you were going to free Mrs. Driscoll.
-"I'll stay as the babysitter, you get the crazy, old lady." You whispered to Johnathon and Nancy.
-Giving the kids change for the vending machine
-Telling Mike to take his chance, and Lucas to distract, "Trust me, as her older sister I have only her best interest in mind, and you, Mike Wheeler, are that. Now go offer her some damn M&Ms."
-When Will was asked to move he sat by you, your arm slung around him as you whispered, "Don't worry Will, they'll figure out that there is more to life then relationships, it might just take a while. Besides they aren't all their cracked up to..."
"He's here." He cut you off, all the lights flickering off before he whispered, "Something's wrong."
-You took off upstairs, the kids not far behind.
-After saving Nancy you followed El to the parking lot, and whispered softly, "The sewers."
-You all went back to the trailer, Nancy and Johnathon taking your room, as the kids all discussed how to stop it, you carried a bowl of chips for them, "So how do...."
"Have you heard from Steve and Dustin?" Mike asked
"No."
"Do you think the Flay got them? Max asked, "No." You replied, "No way."
-You went to the cabin, thinking it was the safest place to be.
-You sat in the room with El, wiping her nose as she explored the void.
-She looked at you and whispered, "I found him."
"Good job sweetheart." You hugged her, and then joined the other, however you heard Mike.
-Hopper tried calling the trailer, and then the cabin after talking to Murray and Smirnoff, however he got no answer.
"Son of a Bitch!" He screamed.
-Robin telling Steve that she is glad she got to know him, because you always spoke so highly of him in band.
-"We are not walking into a trap, no way!"
"Okay Mom." Mike snapped
- You told Mike to sit next to you when she infiltrated Billy's mind, taking his hand to reassure him, and whispered softly, "She will be fine."
Tumblr media
-You looked at Max when El was talking, looking at Max, you knew... you knew about Billy's mom, "It's Billy."
-When El came back crying you dove off the couch and grabbed her, her head burying into you as she clung to you, "He saw me." She whispered, Mike embracing the other side of her. Your eyes met Mike's.
-"How did you know?" Max asked you later
"Billy told me once, he told your folks he was on a date, turns out he came to my place, during the school year. He called after a fight, and I told him to come over . Steve was asleep, and he just told me everything, including his mom, and how she left him with that asshole."
"You must've been pretty special then, no one know that."
"Yeah, must have been."
-"El, did he said he saw you?"
"Yes." She whispered
"He's coming for us. He knows where we are, we are leaving, NOW!"
"We can't."
"Well then, Pops built a fortress, let's use it."
-"I need to know where you parked your car?" Dustin asked
"[Y/N] dropped me off." Steve laughed, "Oh shit I can't see her like this. She'll kill me."
"Shit." Dustin hissed.
- You ran to grab El the same time Mike did, pulling her back towards you.
-You carries her to the car, and while you drove she was on your lap, Mike holding her hand as you sped away.
"I'm sorry." She whispered
"Don't be Sweetheart, you got us this far."
-You carried her in the store and helped Max patch her up.
"I'm going to go find a bowl, Mike hold this." You instructed, and then you heard Mike scream, "[Y/N]!"
"What!" You came running back, bowl in hand as panic set in.
"Dustin, was he with Steve?"
"Yeah, I think so?"
"Where?"
"Scoops probably, last place I saw them was my house.”
"You need to get there, NOW!"
"What?"
"I think Dustin was trying to say he needs a ride, your car is big enough, leave Nancy...."
"Fuck no, I am not leaving my..."
"[Y/N]." El whispered, "Go, take a walkie, I will find him."
-You speed to the mall, and then heard, "Mall."
-You ran into the mall, and towards Scoops, however when passing the movies you heard the radio, "the movies."
-It took you several seconds to find Dustin, and Erica, and when you did he ran up and hugged you, "Oh thank goodness, I can't find Steve or Robin."
-While they were high, Robin asked about Nancy, and then asked, "Are you in love with Hopper?"
"Yeah."
"How much?"
"I want to marry her someday."
"Gross." She giggled, "It will be a cute wedding though."
"How about you? Ever been in love?"
"Not really. I mean I have had a few crushes but..."
-That's when she told him, "I wasn't jealous because I had a crush on you..."
-as they giggled in the bathroom you came running in, Dustin not far behind.
Tumblr media
"Oh shit [Y/N]." He scrambled up and hugged you.
"You look like shit." You joked, "now let's go."
-"Wait, you were drugged?" You whispered while you blended, “I thought you two just finally smoked....”
"Abort." Dustin screamed as you all turned around and ran.
-Your eyes went straight to El when the car flung across the court, a smile on your face.
-You noticed El collapse, and as soon as you saw it you whispered, "Flayer."
"What do you..."
"When it bit her, the flayer..." panic rising as you hopped up, and backed away. Steve standing with you as you backed away.
-"Robin, go calm down [Y/N]." Steve snapped
-"Stop I can do it." She panted, "[Y/N]." It was a whisper, but enough to make you run back to her.
-Once It was out she fell back into you, "No more near death okay, I can't do this anymore."
"No promises." She whispered
-You and Hopper both held El when the briefing happened, Steve looking at you
-Telling Erica to shut up, before going to help your father, Steve and Robin watching as she whispered, "You two are the parents of a weird family."
"Yeah, we are."
-Before he left he leaned in and kissed you, "Be safe Hopper."
"Always Sailor." You smiled
"Ever notice how I am always telling you to be careful?"
"No, but hey, don't die." You kissed him again before they ran out.
Tumblr media
- Telling Hopper to have Steve take his car, you handed yours to Joyce, "Get him home whole."
-After she hugged Hops she clung to you, your lips meeting her temple, "He'll be fine."
-When you hugged Hops you muttered, "Come back whole old man."
"Always kiddo, keep her safe." His lips touched your temples before you carried El to the car.
-When you were all back into mall you were the first to grab a machine gun.
-You sat with El while she recharged, however you kept bringing her stuff to try her powers on.
-You all ran different directions, machine gun in hand still while you and Max followed the young couple, however you had no clue where the others ran off to.
-When Steve saw the mall lights flicker he panicked a bit, the fear of losing you taking hold as he hurried back to the radio, receiving no reply.
-"Where are you.."
"Saving my strange family!"
-When you all hid in the gap, you were looking through the scope, ready to shot if needed.
-You were running behind the kids, gun ready as needed.
- You didn't have the heart to shoot Billy, which got you screwed when the flay knocked you out.
-Once you all got the the main floor you screamed, "Billy Stop!"
"We both know you won't do it Sugar Mama, you got a soft spot for the boy."
"And you have my fucking sister."
"Seven Feet!" El screamed, telling him the memory as you listened, watching Billy turn back into your Billy.
Tumblr media
- When Billy left her go, you ran to El, and looked up in time to see... "Billy!" You screamed, tears falling as he was hit at all angles. His body crumbled, a scream erupted from him that shock you to the core, and with gun raised you took the shot, as the beast died, El clinging to you, but your eyes focused on Max. Once Mike took El you rushed to Max, both you and El cradling her as you looked at Billy's body, and then up to Steve, his glaze fixed on you as you nodded.
-He booked it down the stairs, and as he arrived to your side you wrapped your arms around him.
-When you saw Joyce alone you knew, your body crumbled to the pavement as a scream erupted from your body. Steve tried to catch you but Robin put her hand out, stopping him. As soon as she hit the pavement all to kids surrounded her, including Will, they piled on her as each of them gripped her with all the force in the world. It was like that for a while, and then they made room for Joyce. Her hand ran through your hair as you looked up, and clung to her. "He always loved you." Your whisper was hoarse as she held you.
-Steve drove your car home, his hand on your leg as you picked up Dustin and Erica, and dropped them and Robin off at their houses. The drive was silent, your head against the window, your hand rested on top of Steve's as you drove. He would steal glances at you, his heart breaking at the sight. When you pulled into the trailer, and he killed the engine, he looked at you, your eyes still fixed on the window as you slowly opened the door, and went inside. Steve followed you into the trailer and into the room, watching you flop onto the mattress and face the wall. He slowly started to close the door but you whispered, "Stay."
-He wrapped his arm around you, which caused you to turn into him, and after several seconds he whispered, "Why does the bed smell like Nancy."
"They spent the night." Your voice was hoarse. Soon silence over took you both as he kissed your forehead.
-You gave Joyce some of Hops clothes.
-El moved in with you too, you and Steve worked your asses off to get her from Joyce. When she moved in you were so happy to have her back.
-Joyce gave you the heart to heart to give El.
-When you gave it to her you smiled, “You know, he practiced that speech in front of me the night he wrote it, he just kept resisting and rewriting it for four hours, I don’t think either one of us went to bed that night until 2 in the morning.”
She gave you a smirk as she whispered, “He really loved us.”
“Yeah. He did.” You replied before wiping underneath your eye, and walking out of the room
-You quit the pool, it just didn't feel right without Billy, but it's okay, cause they hired you at the station, as a secretary.
-Nancy pulled you aside, "Why do you hate me?"
"I don't."
"But you..."
"I warned Steve about you, and I am upset that I was right. I told you I didn't want to pick up the broken pieces, and I did. But I don't hate you, cause without you finally admitting you like Johnathon, I won't have Steve. Win win."
-Steve officially moved in with you, and you even built another room on the trailer for Robin to live in, meaning you had the best house mates.
-You helped the Byers pack, Steve stayed back, planning something special.
-You came home to a photograph from graduation, framed in your living room, it was you and El standing beside Hops, his smile wide as he hugged you both. You stated crying when you saw what else was beside the frame, a small polarized photo of you and El making faces at the camera, which read, "My girls."
"He gave it to me, before he gave me the keys." Steve whispered, "Said just in case."
-So many ice cream nights with the scoop troop. And sleep overs with the kids.
-"You put your girlfriend down?" Robin read
"Ah Yeah."
-Steve only really knew the kids favorite movies, so he tried to list those.
-You chuckled when Robin told you how she talked Keith into hiring Steve.
-You were one little dysfunctional family, and you wouldn't want it any other way.

Lost Boy (Post-S3 Billy Hargrove Redemption) - Ch 1

Summary: Post S3. Billy's life has completely fallen apart after the events of July '85. He's started drinking, lost his job, and gotten kicked out of the Hargrove/Mayfield house. Luckily for him, word gets around in Hawkins, and Chief Jim Hopper has a more generous heart than advertised.
A story in which Billy faces his demons with the help of a police chief -- and the fourteen-year-old girl he fears most in the world.
Notes: I just really wish Billy had lived, okay?
Two other key differences from the show:
- Hopper survived the Battle of Starcourt, and he and Joyce are dating. - The Byers and Eleven are still in Hawkins.
This fic is largely unbeta'd, though I've worked hard to make it as readable as possible.

Chapter 1: Hopper Makes An Offer
“Rise and shine, Mr. Hargrove!”
Bang, bang, bang!
Billy jerked awake in the driver’s seat, hitting his browbone on the door. “Ow, fuck!” Holding a hand to his head - which was already aching from the night before - he squinted out the car window into the morning sun. There, framed perfectly by the too-bright light, stood the tall, imposing silhouette of a man in a sheriff’s hat.
Chief Hopper, looking none too pleased.
Billy scoffed. “Fuckin’ pig. Fuck off.” He turned over to go back to sleep.
“You know the rules, Mr. Hargrove, no sleeping off a hangover in a public park."
Bang, bang, bang! went Hopper’s flashlight, hitting the roof of the car. Billy's eyes flew open, and he shot upright, twisting to yell out the window, “Hey! If you dent my car--”
“Yeah, yeah, you'll sue me. Now get out of here before I bring you in for public intoxication.”
“What, is that supposed to scare me?” Billy laughed out loud. Closing his eyes, he settled comfortably in his seat. “You don't scare me.”
A beat passed. The chief muttered something under his breath. Billy smirked, about to say, What was that, chief? Couldn't hear you, but he never got the chance. The door flew open, and a pair of hands seized his shirt.
“Wha-- hey, get the hell off me!” he shouted, only to be dragged out of his seat and brought face-to-face with the chief. For the first time, Billy saw his face clearly, and what he saw sent a jolt of fear through him.
The man had a hard look in his eyes. Not the kind Billy’s dad got - a hot, murderous look that could explode at any second - but hard enough all the same. He breathed loudly through his nose, glaring at Billy with an unnerving steadiness.
“You wanna test me?” he said. “Go ahead. See how far it gets you.”
Fear gave way to contempt. Billy spat in his face.
The chief blinked in shock. He was actually surprised by Billy's defiance, a fact Billy found darkly satisfying.
Then his expression hardened. Grabbing Billy’s collar, he slammed him into the side of the car. The impact knocked Billy's teeth together in an all-too-familiar clack, and he laughed - a wild cackle that came from the back of his throat.
He couldn't stop laughing after that. He laughed as Hopper slapped a pair of handcuffs on him, and he laughed all the way to Hopper’s truck. When Hopper shoved him into the passenger seat and shut the door, Billy whooped so loud the cabin rang with it.
Oh, he hadn't been in a cop car in a long time.
This was going to be an interesting day - a real peachy, write-home-to-mama kind of day.
--
Billy kept his eyes closed, his head on the headrest, and a smirk on his face the entire ride. Sure, let the almighty Chief Hopper think this was a punishment. Let him think Billy was scared of a little jail cell. The joke was on him, because at least Billy would have a place to sleep.
The events of the past few weeks unrolled behind Billy's eyes like a slow-mo video reel.
The horrors of Starcourt. Endless bottles of booze. The angry face of his boss at the community pool as he said, “You're fired.” The even angrier face of his dad calling him a “no-good son of a whore.” Max screaming as Billy rammed his dad’s head into the wall. Slamming doors. All his worldly possessions (the ones he cared about, anyway) sitting in the passenger seat of his car. Sleeping under the stars. Susan's face when she opened the door mid-morning, letting him in for breakfast and a shower. Max shoving dollar bills into his hands, saying, “Here. You need it more than me.” Max hugging him, her red hair tucked beneath his chin.
Moisture gathered under Billy's eyelids. He bit his lip savagely until it dried.
Just then, the truck crunched onto gravel and stopped with a screech. Opening his eyes, Billy looked around to find they'd pulled into a private drive in the middle of the woods. Suddenly he felt stone-cold sober.
“What the hell is this?” He glanced at Hopper. “Where did you take me?”
Hopper turned off the engine. Hand still on the wheel, he stared out the windshield.
“I know what's going on, Billy,” he said. “I know about your dad, the booze - everything. Max told El.”
Billy rolled his eyes skyward, and his head fell back against the headrest. Of fuckin’ course.
“I'm fine,” he muttered.
“Like hell you are. A kid your age shouldn't be out on the street.”
“I'm not a fuckin’ kid.”
“You are if I say you are,” the chief retorted, voice raised. “Now shut up and listen. I'm feeling mighty generous after what you did for my daughter. And believe me when I say she is the only reason I'm here. Because let me make one thing clear.”
He leaned toward Billy, making the leather seat creak. Billy looked at him with wide eyes.
“I...don't...like you,” Hopper enunciated. He started counting on his fingers. “I don't like your shitty haircut.” One finger.  “I don't like your shitty attitude.” Two fingers. “I don't like your shitty face.” Three fingers. “But you saved my daughter's life, and I can never repay you for that.
“So here's my proposition.” He straightened up. “You come work for me, help me patch up my cabin. I give you some money and a couch to sleep on. We continue this arrangement until you're back on your feet. On one condition.”
The chief lifted a finger in the air.
“You lay off the booze.”
Billy blinked. Thoughts and emotions roiled inside him. The chief was... giving him a job? As long as he could stay sober?
Fuck. That would be a tough gig. He couldn't remember the last time he'd gone a day without a beer. Lately it'd been a whole six-pack every morning and night, with who knew how many in between. To go from that to nothing would be…
Fuck.
Billy licked his lower lip. "And if I say no?"
“Then I haul your ass to jail for assaulting a police officer, and you continue your downward spiral into a life of crime.” Hopper smiled. "But hey, if you want it that bad, don't let me stop you.”
Silence fell over the cab. Billy chewed the inside of his mouth and flexed his wrists within the cuffs. God, these things were uncomfortable. An image flashed through his mind: him wearing an orange prison suit, and cuffs on his wrists all day, every day. Though he knew that wouldn't happen - even death row inmates didn't wear cuffs all the time - it made his stomach lurch.
He sighed heavily. Fuck this fuckin' shit.
“When do I start?” he grumbled.
“Good choice!” Hopper boomed, clapping Billy on the back. “You'll start today.”
As Hopper turned the key in the ignition, bringing the truck to life with a rumbling vroom, Billy sank into his seat. Somehow this felt like his lowest point. Not sleeping off a hangover in his car - this. Throwing himself on the good graces of Chief Jim Hopper...and sleeping on his fucking couch.
“Shit,” he muttered. As they peeled out of the drive, he looked out the window, watching the trees go by with hooded eyes.
This was shaping up to be another long, long year in Hawkins.

The Sauna Test 2
I wasn’t planning on writing a part two but it sounded fun and I was bored so here we are. here’s part one and the inspiration post and if y’all want a part three lmk and i will do it. tbh i like part one better but probably bc its more angsty.
warnings: language, flashes to the upside down (so scary stuff), a pinch of byler like always, mild angst, yelling, mentions of violence
other notes: despite the title this actually takes place during s3e5, The Flayed
-------------------------------
The phone had been ringing for several minutes now.
Nancy was starting to get worried. Yes, it was early, and yes, Jonathan probably still hated her for getting them both fired, but if the Mind Flayer was coming back, and it definitely seemed like it, then talking to Will would be her best bet.
“Hello?” an angry voice from the other end of the line answered.
“Jonathan!”
“Do you realize what time it is?”
Yep, he was still mad. For sure.
“Listen to me, okay?” Nancy could feel that old feeling of panic starting to bubble up again. Something bad was happening, and again, no one was listening to her.
“It’s 6am, and I had a late night with Feagan and the gang so—”
Nancy thought that sounded like a lie, but at this point, she didn’t care. “I’m at the hospital with Driscoll.”
A pause. “What?”
“She’s been sedated for a few hours and the doctors are still running tests.”
She could hear Jonathan wake up almost immediately. “Nancy, please tell me you’re joking.”
“It’s not a joke, and yes, I know I’m insane, and irrational, and out of touch, but save your lecture because I really don’t give a shit right now, I just…” Nancy took a breath to calm herself. The few people out at this hour have been giving her weird looks during the whole conversation.
“I need you to put me on the phone with your brother.”
“What?”
“Jonathan, please.”
Nancy was praying this would work, that Will would remember enough to give her something, anything, about what she had just witnessed in the hospital.
“He’s not even here,” Jonathan said, and Nancy felt her stomach drop.
“Where is he?” She knew her voice was getting more and more frantic, but if this thing was commanding Mrs. Driscoll, then it was commanding others too. If she knew her brother and his friends, it’s that they always ran head first into the chaos, exactly where Will could be in the most danger. “Is he safe?”
“Why wouldn’t he be safe?” Jonathan’s voice was quavering. Nancy almost regretted saying that, reminding him of the past two years in which he had to watch his brother go through hell, but if something had happened to him...
“Nancy, why wouldn’t he be safe?”
“So you don’t know where he is?”
“Nancy!” Jonathan’s voice was on the brink of yelling now. “Tell me what happened at the hospital.”
Nancy’s eyes started to brim with tears. “It...I don’t know, it looked like that night, in the cabin, when we burned the Mind Flayer out of Will, but worse…” She heard Jonathan curse on the other end. “Do you know where he is?”
-----------------------------
“So...it felt like when he possessed you?” Max’s eyes drilled into Will’s. She looked scared. All of them did. He couldn’t help but wonder if they were scared of him.
“I mean...yeah. Like that.”
The whole morning, the group had been grilling Will on the events of the previous night. Will didn’t want to tell them that the cold feeling never went away. He didn’t want anyone to worry. He didn’t like being the center of attention, but at least they were somewhat focused on other things. Between speculating about what happened to Will and the constant asking of are you sure you’re alright?, Mike had been whining about El and El had been working on finding Hopper. As it turned out, he was in Illinois. With Joyce. While everyone found that a little weird, they had bigger things to worry about.
A loud knock on the basement door caught everyone’s attention.
“Not now, Mom!” Mike screamed, and instead being greeted with his mother’s annoyed tone, Nancy’s voice screamed from just up the stairs.
“Mike, open the door!”
The group just stared at each other in confusion. Finally, Mike got up. Nancy and Jonathan came running down the stairs, shoving Mike out of the way. “Will?” Jonathan said, looking frantically around the room.
“I’m right here,” Will said, confused as to why Jonathan’s face was twisted with fear.
“Oh thank god,” Nancy breathed, and Mike turned on his sister abruptly.
“Okay, what is going on right now? Why do you two look like you just ran a marathon?”
Nancy and Jonathan looked at each other. Nancy took a breath and explained everything she had just seen.
“What time was this attack?” Mike piped up once she was finished.
“Last night,” Nancy said, still looking fearful.
“Right, but what time last night?”
“Around nine.”
Jonathan turned on Nancy. “You waited all night to call?”
“I was waiting for the doctor to run some tests.”
Will’s eyebrows knitted in confusion. “You weren’t there?”
“Well I’m here now, aren’t I?” Jonathan snapped.
“Hallelujah,” Nancy quipped back.
Nancy and Jonathan had been avoiding eye contact for the whole conversation. Everyone could tell something had happened between them. It was almost comical, seeing their tense and awkward interactions.
“So wait, what were you guys doing last night?” Nancy said, breaking the uncomfortable silence.
They all looked at each other. Will looked at the ground. Finally, Mike spoke.
“We, uh. We went to find Billy and...and we tried to get the Mind Flayer out of him. With a sauna”
“What?” Nancy and Jonathan exclaimed in unison.
“It was working, for a bit,” Lucas said slowly. “But then he got out of the sauna and then he tried to possess Will again and then El threw him through a wall and he got away.”
The room went silent. Jonathan slowly turned to look at Will. “What do you mean ‘tried to possess Will again?’”
“Jonathan—” Will whispered.
“Why would you go with them, when you knew this would happen? You’re lucky he didn’t do anything to you,” Jonathan yelled. Will squeezed his lips together. “He didn’t do anything, right?”
“I don’t know, he...he did something to me. Like he was trying to control me again. Like I still have some of the Mind Flayer left in me.” Will’s voice was shaking. He knew he was on the brink of tears, like he always was when he talked about the Mind Flayer or the Upside Down.
“Yeah, Billy made Will collapse. It was freaky, it was like Will couldn’t hear us at all,” Max said, leaning closer to El. Jonathan looked furious.
Suddenly, a chilling sensation tore through Will’s body. His lungs constricted in pain. His head started pounding again, as Mike’s basement faded away and all that was left were shadows, and little white spores flitting through the air.
“Mike?” Will said quietly, standing up from the couch and trying to adjust his eyes to the darkness. He heard a sound from outside, something all too familiar. Will couldn’t move. He knew he had to run, but he couldn’t risk being seen. He looked down to see vines creeping over his shoes, trapping him. The sound was coming closer, and it would find him again he would find him again he needed to run and hide and not let him see and he had to get back to Mike—
“Where are you?”
A singsong voice echoed from all sides. Will felt the back of his neck start to tingle, like the feeling of being watched. The toxic air pierced his lungs and stung his skin and he started to get dizzy—
“WILL!”
Will’s eyes shot open to see his friends surrounding him, Mike’s hands on his shoulders. He felt El’s hand on his arm, and Jonathan’s hand on his forehead.
“Was it another episode?” Mike asked, staring intensely at Will’s face.
“God, you’re freezing.” Jonathan lowered his hand. “What happened?”
Will sat back down, breathing heavily. He tried to focus on Mike’s face, looking increasingly more worried the longer Will didn’t speak. He opened his mouth, and a wave of nausea fell over him. He squeezed his eyes shut to stop the spinning.
“...Will?” El’s voice was quiet as she sat down next to him. “Was it Billy? Was he there?”
Will shook his head.
“No, it was...well, it sounded like Billy. But it wasn’t. It was him. And he knew I was there.”
Nancy and Jonathan exchanged a look. “Is it...in you again? Do we need to burn it out?” Nancy said, her eyes wide.
Will shook his head. “I don’t think he actually possessed me this time. He’s just trying to scare me, I think. I know too much.”
“Well, what do you know?” Lucas leaned forward. Will noticed that he and Max were holding each other’s hands tightly, their knuckles turning white. “I know how he works. How he thinks and everything. He views me as a threat because...because I got through his control in the past.”
Lucas sighed in frustration. “Well, if you could do it, why can’t Billy?”
“I—”
Will’s neck tingled again, like a warning. “I think something’s wrong.”
Nancy stared at him. “What? What’s happening?”
He looked up at them, eyes wide.
“It’s Mrs. Driscoll.”
