Things I Cannot And Will Not Believe Anymore
1.People are inherently evil.
2.People deserve the apocalypse/hell.
3. Women are responsible for the sexual impulses of men/can control the sexual impulses of men.
4. Men deserve authority over women.
5. Doubt is the devil using my spiritual gifts against me.
6.I owe sex to my husband/other forms of submission or obedience to my husband.
7. LGBTQIA+ are confused/evil/led astray -- their orientation/identification is wrong or invalid and forcing them to change/deny this about themselves will be good for them.
8. Women should not be in positions of leadership/roles that are considered to be traditionally masculine. Certainly not over men.
9. Jesus is the only absolution you need for sins that hurt other people.
10. Self-worth is pride/arrogance/vanity.
11. Religious values should dictate secular laws/civil rights.
12. Intimacy (psychological OR physical) that I share with men I love before I meet/marry my husband cheats my husband out of elements of my sexuality/liberties upon my body to which he is entitled.
13. Mental illness is merely a soul crying out for God and professional help is a scam to steal your money and lead you away from God.
14. People in unfortunate situations must have done something to deserve it/bring it upon themselves.
15. Women who have abortions want to kill their babies/hate children/are cruel and callous and loose/would choose murder over living with consequences of their presumed promiscuous lifestyle/believe abortion is the only form of birth control.
16. Men cannot and should not be expected to control their sexual impulses toward others on their own. (see #3)
17. Evidence supporting scientific/medical/psychological advancements that clash with a literal interpretation of the biblical account should be ignored, boycotted, banned, and impeded or even outlawed.
18. Sexual confidence (real or perceived) cheapens one’s worth as a person or invalidates one’s spirituality.
19. Teens cannot be trusted with an actual education in safe sex. In fact, I should deliberately mislead my daughter about birth control until FOUR MONTHS BEFORE HER WEDDING. There’s no way that could backfire spectacularly, cause damage to her health, her marriage, or even my ambitions to have grandchildren one day. (NOT ON YOUR LIFE, NOT FOR MANY, MANY YEARS!!!)
20. People who are not “with” me -- who believe what I do without question -- are “against” me -- militantly attacking me personally. The people “out there” are out to get me. They want to tear down my faith and send me and my children to hell.
21. Teens and unmarried women cannot be trusted with freely available contraception. If we make contraception available, they will do ALL the sex! O.O *gasp! horror! clutches pearls!*
22. It is okay and an expression of Christ-like love to demand that other people forsake their lifestyle, religion, and worldview, but feel personally persecuted and threatened when they question mine.
23. Teens cannot be trusted.
24. Women cannot be trusted.
25. Men cannot be trusted.
26. Doubt is selfish/dangerous/a slippery slope and means I’m not really sincere in my faith, or my faith is weak, or can grieve the Holy Spirit and take away my faith completely.
27. The Bible can and should be used to enforce anti-immigration policy. (see #11)
28. The Bible can and should be used to shame/denigrate victims of police brutality.
29. Unfortunate accidents/hardships that happen to me or my family can and should be seen as signs that God is punishing or testing me.
30. Disobedience -- even psychological disobedience (i.e. skepticism) -- casts into question or completely invalidates my morality.
31. It is okay to rail against affordable healthcare, actively impede it in the polls, then slander health organizations like Planned Parenthood and shame those who accept their help ... all without providing a viable alternative but claiming that the church can do it better.
32. “You just need to have faith”, “It’s a mystery”, “That’s a good/hard question, I’ll get back to you” (but he never DID), or “That’s the Old Testament Law, Jesus freed us from that” (when so many other O.T. laws are quoted and used to define sin, just sayin’ ...) are ACCEPTABLE and SATISFACTORY answers to questions about the 100% literal, true, God-breathed verses explicitly prescribing stoning or marrying rape survivors to their rapists ...
10/10 FELT SO SAFE AS A TEENAGE AND YOUNG ADULT CHRISTIAN WOMAN!
33. People who reject the evangelical message are just butt-hurt, pouty, selfish, petulant liberals who don’t want to face hard truths.
34. People who believe differently or celebrate different religious holidays in winter should be forced to use my seasonal religious greeting and failure to do so indicates a vitriolic antagonism to everything I stand for. But it is unreasonable to expect me to extend the same consideration to them.
35. It is okay to deny/limit/discourage my child’s access to the level of education required to succeed in the world we live in (even with the caveat that it clashes with my beliefs/worldview and I believe it to be false) because I do not trust my child to discern my interpretation of the Bible in the face of a single chapter in their no doubt riveting 10th grade biology textbook. I’m sure they’ll just breeze through that in college.
36. Children are also not to be trusted with intellectual/psychological/spiritual autonomy.
37. Not a single word of this book could possibly have been mistranslated, misinterpreted, metaphorical, made obsolete with time, or simply penned by a woefully misguided human being. (see #32)
38. If I open my mind enough to really understand the person I am trying to reach, my brain will fall out.
39. To seriously question these things is to deny my faith/attack that of others.
40. It is okay to train a child to be a soldier in my culture war.
41. It’s okay -- virtuous and caring, even -- to tell someone who is struggling or grieving that this life is meant to be a trial and their lot will improve drastically after they die.
42. There was a point in human history when water covered Everest by 22 feet of water, and scientists are actively hiding the geological evidence because they are in league with Satan and want me to go to hell.
43. Obedience = protection. “If you just follow God’s plan, nothing bad will ever happen to you.” The Bible is Basic Instructions Before Leaving Earth and if you just do what it says, you’ll live a long and successful and fulfilling life.
44. Bad things happen to good people because omniscient God has reason to question/test their devotion. They are just being petulant or are deluded about their secret sin/doubt/disobedience, and if they search themslves and the Bible, they will see that God is well within His rights to hurt their families/hurt them/cause this hardship. (see #1,2,5,10,14,18,20,26,29,30)
45. It is okay -- advisable, even -- to tell someone who is struggling that they are being prideful/sinful/selfish, and they need to “die to self”. That can in no way be interpreted as a message of “just get over yourself or die already.”
46. In fact, just the whole ANY death imagery should be considered kind and appropriate dialogue with a human being who might be thinking of suicide. They should just know that isn’t what I mean at this turbulent point in their life. I have no responsibility to consider any other interpretation of my words or the biblical jargon/verses I use. I have no responsibility to examine what those words/jargon/verses really even say.
47. A survivor of abuse or assault has a civic duty to come forward to keep me and my daughters/children safe, but I have NO civic duty to believe/accept their account if:
a. I know the perpetrator.
b. They know the perpetrator.
c. They wear clothes I disapprove of.
d. It’s been a certain period of time.
e. They behave in a way that I disapprove of.
f. They are “sex-crazed/rebellious” teenagers or unmarried young adults.
g. The perpetrator is a public figure I approve of.
h. They “allowed” themselves to be alone with the perpetrator/somehow “put themselves” in this situation.
i. They continued a relationship with the perpetrator.
j. They are married/related to the perpetrator.
k. I am THE authority on what is abuse/assault, and believe their account does not qualify.
48. Not only do I NOT have a civic duty to believe/accept the accounts of abuse/assault survivors, I have the right to slander them publicly when I don’t. To shame them. To question the veracity of their account in the same breath that I demand why they didn’t jump at the chance to defend the women I actually care about in the wake of their trauma. They are the problem here.
49. It is impossible to have a fulfilling spiritual experience/personal contentment in life if I do not believe all of the things on this list.
50. It is certainly impossible to have a fulfilling spiritual experience/relationship with compassionate and unconditionally loving Christ if I do not believe all of the things on this list.
51. I have a spiritual and civic duty to force society worldwide to conform to my specific beliefs. (see #11)
52. It is okay to tell an underage girl that her clothing is distracting grown men in the congregation, but NOT tell the grown men in the congregation presumably raising these complaints that their “distracting” sexual thoughts are predatory and constitute pedophilia, or even incest in some cases. Similarly, it is okay to tell these girls that their clothing is distracting boys their age, but NOT tell these boys that their “distracting” sexual thoughts are predatory and sexually objectifying their sisters in Christ. It is okay to put the onus of males’ sexual sin/distraction on underage girls who presumably have better things to do (like stress about their skirt and posture and bra straps) than listen to the sermon the men are blissfully enjoying. That isn’t at all distracting or distressing to the underage girls, who need the message ... less?
Will add more as they occur to me. If you feel personally attacked by any of these things I no longer believe, please know that was not my intention, but perhaps you ought to bring that to God and find out why it is so offensive to you that I do not believe it. I was taught all of these “values” in a church by wonderful people who know not what their doctrine really says to the children they are raising and the people they are trying to reach.

Snowfur/Snowstar AU!
so, I’ve been wanting to do a big AU for a while now, but couldn’t figure out what might be a good idea to fly with. However, after seeing a Sweetpaw/Sweetstar AU (shout-out to the anon who mentioned it to @skrs-cats!), I decided to take a jab at Snowfur becoming leader instead of her sister!
originally, I thought that maybe Bluefur died on the Thunderpath instead of Snowfur, buuuuut I ended up changing it sadfjdsjh - if anything, I can make a post for that as well! An AU of an AU sdfkjjdsf (tho, tbh, I... do that a lot sdfjdsf)
overall, the basic plotline of Bluestar’s Prophecy still happens, but minus Blue having a prophecy about becoming leader and minus a few major points
note: the disaster that is Spottedleaf’s Heart isn’t canon - it almost was, and Snowfur was going to be the one who kills Thistleclaw, but I can’t tolerate the novella’s plot and just... wanted to void it in this AU
anyway, without further ado, here it is under the cut!
Snowkit never dreamed of becoming leader, but did dream of being the best warrior ThunderClan had ever seen alongside her sister, Bluekit
After being apprenticed and seeing her mother be killed in the raid on WindClan’s camp, she was devastated - still she managed to push through her grief for the sake of her Clan, but began to grow distant from her sister, who seemed determined to push everyone away to wallow in her grief
Bluepaw is still apprenticed to Sunfall after Stonepelt moves into the elders’ den
When Bluepaw begins to act like her old self, the two sisters grow closer again - during this time, Bluepaw talks about becoming leader, and Snowpaw begins to grow ambitious herself
A few moons later, Snowpaw and Bluepaw become Snowfur and Bluefur - despite their different personalities and strengths, the two had always talked about having the same name, so both were more than happy with what their were given
Sweetpaw stills dies, but Thistlepaw and Rosepaw are both made warriors early after their sister’s death - both fight off a dog that came too close to camp (like in BP, but pushing the dog attack after the spoiled prey sickened a few cats)
When Snowfur and Thistleclaw become mates, she and Bluefur grow distant once more - Snowfur doesn’t understand why Bluefur hates Thistleclaw so much, and is annoyed that her sister won’t give him a chance
Soon, Snowfur gives birth to Whitekit - Leopardfoot sill has Tigerkit, but instead of being mates with Pinestar, she had a brief fling with a passing loner since the Clan respects that queen’s have a right not to disclose who sired their kits
About two moons later, Bluefur moved into the nursery as well and gave birth to three kits: Stonekit, Mistykit, and Mosskit - many assume Thrushpelt is the father despite Blue and Thrush not declaring they were mates, but Snowfur knows it’s not true - she has a feeling the father isn’t even a rogue or loner, but doesn’t accuse her sister of having an affair with a different Clan cat
Snowfur and Bluefur leave the nursery for a while to go on a walk, to get out and not worry for their kits for a bit, and it’s then Bluefur admits to her that Oakheart of RiverClan is her mate and her kits’ father - Snowfur is furious that her sister broke the Code, and runs off
They catch three ShadowClanners hunting on their territory, and launch an attack on them, taking them off guard and chasing them over the Thunderpath - Snowfur stops in the middle, but before a monster can hit her, Bluefur pushes her out of the way
The two return to ThunderClan, with Snowfur apologizing for Bluefur for running off like that, and promises her not to reveal her secret - while the Clan is alarmed that they had gotten into a fight, everyone is relieved that they’re okay
After Whitekit is made an apprentice, Snowfur sticks around the nursery to keep Bluefur company and to help with her kits - during this time, things grow rocky between her and Thistleclaw, who’s angry that she spends less time with him. Snowfur snaps at him, telling him she had every right to spend time with her kin
Thistleclaw still mentors Tigerpaw
Soon, the two break off their relationship - Snowfur begins to see the darker side of the tom, and fears what he will do if he leads ThunderClan. she and Bluefur both have the vision of him covered in blood, and Snowfur vows to never let him become deputy
Stonekit, Mistykit, and Mosskit are soon apprenticed to Adderfang, Lionheart, and Rosetail respectively
When Robinwing’s kits are made apprentices, Bluefur is given Brindlepaw, and Snowfur is given Frostpaw - allowing them to spend time together to train their apprentices
After their apprentices are made warriors, Tawnyspots finally steps down from his position as deputy - unable to carry on with his duties. Instead of appointing Adderfang as a temporary deputy, Sunstar appoints Snowfur as deputy - this is a surprise to the Clan, but everyone takes well to the news
Bluefur, while disappointed she wasn’t chosen, is thrilled for her sister. Thistleclaw is clearly jealous, but congratulates his ex-mate anyway - around that time, he tries to grow close to her again, but Snowfur remains on-guard, knowing his hard training with Tigerclaw and knowing he has darker intentions in mind
When Sunstar is killed by a dog moons later, Snowfur becomes Snowstar - Goosefeather gives her the life of trust, Pinestar gives her the life of compassion, Larksong gives her the life of humor, Mumblefoot gives her the life of endurance, Weedwhisker gives her the life of patience, Sunstar gives her the life of courage, Tawnyspots give her the life of pride, Sweetpaw gives her the life of hope, and Moonflower gives her the life of love
Snowstar appoints Bluefur as her deputy, but doesn’t fail to notice the rage that Thistleclaw expresses - she keeps a watchful eye on him, but doesn’t outright call him out since she doesn’t have anything to prove he has evil intentions
Over time, Thistleclaw begins to calm down, especially after he nearly dies while on a solo patrol of the RiverClan border - Snowstar believes he has started to change
during the start of Into the Wild, Spottedleaf still receives the “fire alone will save our Clan” prophecy, and Rusty is brought into the Clan as Firepaw
Bluefur is killed during a battle of SunningRocks, with Thistleclaw returning with her body, claiming that Oakheart had killed her and he killed Oakheart in revenge - the Clan believes him, but Snowstar can’t shake her suspicions that he had something to do with it. After all, she knows Oakheart would never hurt Bluefur
Ravenpaw knows the truth, but he fears Thistleclaw too much to say anything (however, his mentor is Willowpelt instead of Tigerclaw)
Snowstar then appoints Lionheart as her deputy, knowing he would make a fine leader, and notices the anger that briefly blazes in Thistleclaw’s eyes at the announcement
TBP continues on with the same plot for the most part - including ThunderClan taking Brokenstar in (though unwillingly), and Lionheart dying in the battle against ShadowClan
Fireheart and Graystripe are also sent out to bring WindClan home, but Sandstorm and Dustpelt are made warriors before them and are given Cinderpaw and Brackenpaw as apprentices! Cinderpaw’s accident still happens, but she continues her training as a warrior
Ravenpaw also leaves ThunderClans and lives with Barley at the barn, but reveals the truth of what happened to Bluefur to Fireheart
Fireheart tries to warn Snowstar of Thistleclaw’s crimes, but without proof, Snowstar takes his word with a grain of salt - she’s already suspicious of the battle-hungry tom, but doesn’t want to accuse him of murder without being completely certain of it
Snowstar appoints Tigerclaw as her deputy - although she knows he has a temper at times and was trained by Thistleclaw, she trusts him to ultimately do the right thing for the Clan
While Brokentail is in their care, Snowstar is constantly discussing what to do with him with the senior warriors - while Yellowfang is persistent on letting him live, the majority agrees that they should kill him and get it over with
When the patrols are spread thing, an attack is launched on ThunderClan by a group of rogues - however, thanks to Sandstorm, Fireheart, and Cloudpaw, they were able to bring the patrols back in time to prevent the rogues from succeeding
During this time, Thistleclaw corners Snowstar in her den, and tries to kill her - Tigerclaw arrives in time to see his former mentor almost give the white leader the killing blow, and is able to save her before he had the chance
After the battle, Snowstar allows Fireheart to reveal Thistleclaw’s crimes, and admits that she had her suspicions but no proof - when it’s revealed that Thistleclaw not only killed Bluefur but created the plan for Brokentail’s rogues to attack ThunderClan so he could kill Snowstar (since he knew Tigerclaw would make him deputy), Thistleclaw is killed instead of exiled
Tigerclaw, distraught that he had failed to see the darkness in his former mentor, blames himself and steps down from his position, telling the Clan that they deserve a better cat - Snowstar appoints Sandstorm as deputy
Because she has a better grasp on her emotions, she doesn’t spiral into depression like Bluefur does in canon as leader - however, her age is getting to her, and she’s becoming unable to keep up with most of her duties, causing some ceremonies to be delayed
The dog attack still happens - however, no cat leads them to the camp, and it happens sooner than in canon. Brindleface is killed by one of them, and the Clan knows that there are dogs loose in their territory, and struggle to come up with a plan with what to do with them. During this time, Swiftpaw and Brightpaw decide to sneak out of camp to figure it out themslves
Both apprentices are attacked but manage to survive despite their horrendous injuries - Snowstar, blaming herself for not stopping them, gives them their warrior names - Swiftfang and Brightheart
later, as they begin to recover, she makes Thornpaw a warrior as well, giving him the name Thornclaw
Fireheart comes up with the plot to lead the dogs to the gorge, and the Clan agrees with it - Snowstar stays behind, however, because of her age, and Sandstorm takes Fireheart’s place at the end of the trap
Snowstar, determined to make up for not seeing Thistleclaw’s treachery sooner and for not protecting Swiftfang and Brightheart, leaves her Clan under the watchful eye of her son, Whitestorm, and heads out to help her Clanmates
she saves Sandstorm from the dogs, and dies in the process - Sandstorm takes over as leader in her place
fun facts!
Redtail is trans, and Sandstorm is the kit of him and Runningwind
Whitestorm  is trans, and he and Tigerclaw are mates - the first one consists of Brambleclaw and Tawnypelt, and the second one consists of Sorreltail, Rainwhisker, and Sootfur
Sandstorm/star and Fireheart are mates as well, and still have Leafpool and Squirrelflight - Fireheart is Sandstar’s deputy but doesn’t become leader - instead, Hollyleaf becomes leader after Sandstar
Whitestorm is the only kit of Snowstar and Thistleclaw
Thistleclaw went straight to the Dark Forest, no questions asked - Snowstar does miss what they had, but doesn’t miss him
Bluefur and Oakheart remained mates, and are still mates in StarClan
Stonefur, Mistyfoot, and Mossheart (Mosskit) are unaware of their RiverClan heritage
BloodClan is a bigger deal in this AU - while Snowstar is no longer alive at the time, so it’s not mentioned in the main ideas bc of it. BloodClan ends up taking over ShadowClan (like Tigerstar did with RiverClan in canon), and tries to get the Clans to leave - the Clans fight back and win, but Nightstar is killed. Russetfur takes over as leader
Tigerclaw is not evil in this AU at all
Graystripe and Silverstream still become mates, but Silverstream doesn’t die when she has her kits - however, they do split up on good terms, and Feathertail and Stormfur grow up in RiverClan but know of their father - Silverstream becomes Leopardstar’s deputy
Fireheart and Spottedleaf were never in love in this AU - instead, he saw her as an older sister
Bluefur is Fireheart’s StarClan guide instead of Spottedleaf
Yellowfang survives the fire and is Leafpool’s mentor
Leafpool and Squirrelflight are born sooner than in canon
Fireheart still leaves to rebuild SkyClan - Dustpelt briefly takes his place as deputy, and Graystripe joins him on the journey
Whitestorm dies in the battle against BloodClan, and Tigerclaw moves into the elders’ den shortly after
Darkstripe may or may not be... antagonistic in this AU - if he is, it’s on his own accord and now him following in Thistleclaw’s pawsteps
aaaand that’s all I have so far!! I might build on it more tho in the future o; rn I can’t remember everything that happens so I’m missing a bit adshjsdfjkdsf

We go second shift schedule for a few days in this one.
Rushing out from the Schwartzholz castle the group is in rather cramped quarters as they're either squeezed into the wagon or crowded on top. Quarters get instantly more close when Magnolia and Anya get shoved into the mix via the amulet. No Jake, but the amulet works in mysterious ways. Vera gives them a quick rundown (we got almost everyone out, oz blinded Juno, Vlad decapitated her, currently gtfo the area) and Anya slaps some of the sticky blood off of Vera's armor and pats herself down to cover her scent. The group also smells of flowers thanks to the perfume used to cover their scent.
Anya crawls on top of the moving carriage and shoves Ivan down into it, and Magnolia hangs off the back, leaving Vera crammed inside laying on the bed with a carriage full of strangers who give her a good few inches of space because she's a murderous little monster.
Vlad and Nitahn keep pushing the cart along while Fyodora drives it, but as the party is headed towards the next town Oz spots something moving in the woods. Something wolflike. He points it out to the group and Vlad's like 'If it's a hunting party, we need to leave no one alive.'
The caravan keeps moving as the wolves get closer, and Oz hits a group of four with Glitterdust when they get close enough, blinding them for almost a minute. Vlad heads that way with his wicked axe and attacks one, causing it to shift to werewolf form. The cart stops when Vlad runs back, and Magnolia casts Magic circle against Evil. Vera grabs her sword and crawls to the back of the cart, offering it to Nitahn when he opens the door. Vera gets his heavy crossbow in it's place. Two of the wolves rush the donkies and try to bite them, to little success. A werewolf rushes the cart and tries to climb up it, getting point blank shot by Vera. Nitahn tries using the sword and fails. Meanwhile, Vlad is wrecking the shit out of the group he's around, 1 hit ko-ing the werewolf with his axe's Vorporal effect. Anya tosses her bow down to one of Nitahn's followrs an has her load it and toss it back up, but the first shot shatters in the bow while the second one misses.
Nitahn finally hits true on the werewolf trying to climb the cart, and Vera tries to stab him with an arrow like a feral goblin child. Said werewolf drops off the cart as oz tries to stab him with a dagger. Magnolia rounds the outside of the cart and casts calm animal, making the remaining wolves sit down and chill.
The last werewolf is dispached and the group finds all the silver bolts (except the one that Anya shattered) and they climb right back onto the wagon and get the fuck out of dodge, leaving the werewolves where they lay. Demetra (one of the rescued people) has to calm one wolf down when Mags pulls the crossbow bolt out of it, because Demetra's a druid. Yay, follower!
They go hard until the next morning, where they find themselves in a small town. They take the wagon through the inside of the town to further confuse their scent up, parking the wagon on the far side and making camp. Anya stays up on watch while everyone else tucks in for the night/day.
As true and proper second shift people, they wake up around 4PM and head into town to do their business. Vera, Nitahn, Felix, and Pitor (The only two of the rescue-ees who have clothes on other than pyjamas) head into town to fix the clothing issue, getting traveler garb for everyone and some new boots for Nitahn since his got shredded when he transformed. Mags stops in town for rations and the shopkeep tries to charge her double, but Mags catches that and is like "You're overcharging me :)" and the guy is like 'oh shit she can read' and charges her proper price. That also makes him too skittish to try and overcharge Vera, who comes in later. (Also: he missed his mark because Vera def wouldn't have realized. How much does a banana cost michael, ten dollars?)
Nitahn inquires in town and finds some wagons for sale. One is tossed out of the running quickly, it's more a carrge than a cart. The second cart has a hard canvas top, and the third cart looks like it should carry coffins. Vera's on the side of the third cart, and Nitahn thinks that one looks dope too, but he runs back to Fyodora and gets her for her opinion. Fyodora has no sense of fun and advises him to get the second cart. Nitahn complies, and then gets some heavy horses to lead the wagon. He successfully haggles and they take the cart and new horses back to camp after getting feed for the animals. The group divies up supplies taken from the keep (and admire the new stolen dishware, gilded, wow) and head out. Nitahn drives the new wagon with Vlad giving direction. Anya climbs on top of that wagon, while Fyodora drives the old wagon with Magnola riding shogun, oz up top, and Vera follows behind on Bear.
On the way to the next town, Bear hears something and gets anxious. Vera tries to calm him down, and Vlad pops up to explain. Bear hears the long off werewolf howls too. They're too far away to be a danger, but close enough to hear. Vlad pats Bear and Vera asks how he's doing, and they have a little chat about the history of his axe, and how 'If you act like a monster, you get put down like one. If you act like an animal, you're treated like one.' (Which is hilarious, as Vera told him the same thing weeks ago when they had their alley fight). Still, it's hard. There was no love lost between himself and his mother, but... Vera tells him he made a choice she hadn't been able to, and Vlad gives her a look.
They go through the next town early, and camp on the other side just like the previous night. Heading out from that town they head through the woods in the same marching order, but they all start hearing something. Whispering noises, like sounds strung together that sound like they should be words, but there's nothing intelligible. Like those videos that show what English sounds like to non speakers. As they continue the whispers get louder, and Anya sees shadows in the woods like hanging bodies that disapear on secnod look.
And at the end of the group, Bear stops in his tracks. Vera tries to get him moving to no avail, and she calls out to the group and start detecting evil. Vlad hops off the wagon to head back towards her, and he stops in place. On top the wagon, Oz and Veli freeze. No sound comes from inside the wagon, but Magnolia and Fyodora are fine. Vera detects evil in the woods, heading towards the front wagon, and hops off bear to head that way. Only one person in the wagon stops moving, and Nitahn starts playing music to try and counterspell whatever happened. He yells for someone else to take the wagon and anya goes for it, while Vera yells she's on the way. He's like 'Send Fyodora, you drive that cart' because only Nitahn remembers she's pregnant. Vera coninues tracking the evil presence as it goes up into the trees, Fyodora hops down and runs tot he front wagon, and Nitahn successfully counterspells the effect. Everyone else comes back to themslves as Fyodora and Vera spur the wagons on. Only anya sees the spirit that lurks above, a ghostly form that tapers into mist below the waist.
It' after, when they're in town, that Nitahn rmembes the stories about this forest. It's a suicide forest, some that enter loose heart and kill themselves. In reailty, the forest is haunted by an Allip, who preys on those who enter.
The group makes camp again that evening, not pressing through into the night though they could. In the morning a stranger comes to the caravan and goes to Magnolia.
"Magnolia?" "Nope." Says only half orc in area.
No, he says, she's Magnolia. He remembers her. His sister sent her to find him, and the group found him in Anton's mines. Funny that he's here now.

since nano is over
i have decided to celebrate by showing you all the Highlights of my 6k word sprint yesterday! it got... really hilariously bad. i hope it makes you laugh!
AND AFTER THAT THEY HAD A CONVERSATION THAT EXPLAINED EVERYTHING
they can carry cellar thing around on an adventure because they are withces
Eventually, when they had verything they thought they would need, they left! They Finally Left! IT HAS BEEN EIGHTEEN THOUSAND AND TWO HUNDRED AND THRITY WORDS OR SOMETHING AND THEY HAVE ONLY JUST NOW FINALLY LEFT! THAY HABE LEFT THE HOUSE! THEY ARE GONE! THY HAVE NO IDEA WHERE THEY ARE GOING AND NEITHER DO I BUT THAT DOESNT MATER ANYWAY THEY LEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEFT!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m actually sobbing.
they still hadn’t gotten to whatever town it was by the ime the sky started to get lighter, because I an going to draaaaaaag everythiiiiiiiiiing ouuuuuuuuut. They did see a very spectacurla sunrise though. Caroline appreciated it. Abigail was tired and just wanted to GET THERE ALREADY. I am also Abigail. Like, I want to drag this out for words but I also want things to HAPPEN.
So — summary time. Basically what this means is that things will happen much faster and also in PRESENT TENSE.
So because I and they are done with having to figure out something else to do, I say they meet this random withc.
And I feel like hitchhiking and stagecoaches and wandering around in the wilderness waiting for whatever luck decides to come your way is more of the Witch Aesthetic anyway.
All the witches are obsessed with telling rollicking tales anyway, it is a Witch Thing.
I am retconning away Abigail telling Caroline about her needlework project or whatever it is, because then you can have her having secretly brought all this embroidery stuff along and having to keep it hidden because she still wants this cool thing to be a SURPRISE and yes it will be cool it will be very cool it will be the coolest (it won’t it will probably just end up being “i really like you!” in flashing colors with some rainbbowy stars which is still more than I would know how to do so I don’t think Abigail really needs to worry Caroline will probably think it’s cute but this would be at like the VERY END of the story after all of the WOES).
~introspecton in the woods~
Like, its like when you and your friend say goodbye, but it turns out you are both walking home in the same direction an its super awkward? It’s like that with caroline and abigail. Because they are kind of both fooffling different paths but they are still both going to the same place eentually. So there are times when they end up staying at the same place for the night and they have both pitched their tenst or made their lean tos or whatever like ten feet apart from each other and they are both like glancing distraughtly over to the other person’s camp when they think the other person isnt looking and if they get cought they both just kind of glare at each other for a while. The antagonist is like who are you people.
So then they ALL GET TO THE HAMMER PLACE. THE PLACE WHERE THE HAMMER IS. THE PLACE OF THE HAMMER.
The antaginist is still following then and is still stuck having to listen to all of their teenage drama. They are like, just find the dang hammer already!!! I guess I just like to make my ntagonists suffer.
So they get into the cavern where the hammer SHOULD be if all of their assumtions are correct, and they should really know by now that like NONE of theri assumtions are correct, but like, they missed that particular thought bus. What did I even just say.
and that is when the ansagonists revel themslves!!! And they capture abgail and caroline anf thye like say antagonist things, or I don’t know maybe only one of them does if I am going off of the assumption thhat what we have ehere is an old amatuer witch humter who never got off the superstition train and then a witch who he has kidnapped to help him find witchs and get the hammer, but I should know by not that none of my assumptions ar correct wither. I was not on that thought bus either I guess. What is a thought bus anyway? What is  a superstition train? Things this world has I gguess.
Maybe there’s a note? Maybe there is a fake hammer? Yeah, that might be it. There might eb a totally norman hammer in therw. And everyone is like is that the legendary hammer of the witch? It looks so notman. And then the old dude witch hunter goes and tries to pick it up, and he can and he is like what the heck this is jut a norman halleer.
Good things come in threes. Symbolic and important fantasy things come in threes. Of course there is s third story obviously.
I am tampted to just have they walking hoyse reappear (well, appear, it was only in a side dtoy before) because lets be honest These People Need A Break. But I don’t know that seens like the kind of thing that would be chamed later. MUCH LIKE THIS ENTIRE PLOT.
So they get back to the boston before the antagoinst in thess assumption.
I shouls really stop calling him the antagonist he is the old witch hunter dude, anyway that guy is maybe heading for them because he might have lso figures it out too, that is that they tell hem.
they go ino the basement eell actually its a cellar, they go in there and they solve the clue and get the hammer yay! I mean, when it is an actual scene it is all dramatic and everything but that is not within my capabitities riht now. AS YOU CAN SEE.
Because the old witch hunting dud is already there when they get there. His prisoners are gicing him some trouble because they aer all punk witches. So then abigai does tha hammer thing anf they all go free and hel in ht efight because I guess there is a fight imea n what else a, I  going to do at thins pimt. There is like a HUGE FIGHT and abigail probably couses a problem with the hammer and something else probably burs down but somehow. SOMEHOW. The antagonist cant fight anymore and so is defeated and they decide what to do with him. Actually they can probabl yfind something illegal to get him arrested for. The problem with having humans s your antagonists is if your characters are normal people and this I ssupposed to be a fun adventur story you cant just KILL THEM you have to get creative. That is probaby why that whole thing is going to change later because the situation just doesnt fit woth the problem. Or sthe problem doesnt fit with the tools that characters have to solve it. SOMETHING DOESNT FIT. A problem like this is not a problem you can solve with an overpowered magic hammer an I guess I was already making that the moral of the story but IT DOENT WORK DAMMIR. Whatever. That is how it goes in this version of the stoy. Arggghhhh could I just get to twenty two kay plase.
I am going to say that that is what happened but for the sake of word count let us examine ome other possigigities.
I dont like that I dont knoeien that I what happed. Wow.
actually I like that ending better scratch that other one that I said I liked the best his one os the real ending noe.
the people keeoing it know where it is and they can protet it. Sure.
AND THEN AT SOME INDETERMINATE POINT AFTER THE STORY NOOOOOOOO NO WAIT OMG OKAY SO MAYBE THE BIT WITH THE EMBROIDERY HAPPENS NOW OR MAY BE IT HAPPENS WHEN THEY ARE GOING BACK TO BOSTON. THEY HAVE NOTHING TO DO BUT WAIT REALLT AFTER WHOEVERS DAUTHR IS FINISHED TALKING SO MAY BE THAT IS WHEN ABIGAIL FINISHES HER EBEOIDERY PROJECT. I MEAN THIS WOUD BE AFTER THEY HAVE TALKED AS MUCH AS THEY NEED TO BECAUSE WOULD IT EVEB MEAN ANYTHIN OTHER WISE NO BUT AFTER THAT ABIGAIL IS LIKE OKAY TO HELL WITH THIS PRETENTIOS HAMMER STUFF WE ATEE BOTH DONE WITH THAT I AM NOT GOING TO DO THAT I COULDNT HAVRE DONE THAT ANYWAY BUT I CAN DI THIS and she does th bit with the rainbowy words and stars and caroline is like awwwww!
So them I would need a different endingy endng for th story but you knwo what this is all going to change anyway I dont caaaaaaaaaaare.

Two perculiar souls
“Kravitz had seen a lot of people react to seeing him, seeing him in his nice looking flesh, or his more professional, grimmer looking skeletal form that Taako would not stop teasing him about when it happened on accident or when he was flustered.
He had had yet to see someone start crying from happiness upon the realization that they died.”
read on AO3
Parings: Taako/Kravitz, my OCs Jahal/Karanis
I did a thing and cried while writing - some gore involved in like, one paragraph
In all the time he had served as a bounty hunter for the Raven Queen, Kravitz had seen a lot of souls, a lot of families ripped apart, lovers, parents and children, friends and even enemies that sometimes were more dependant on each other than they thought - until it was too late. He had seen the living grieve and cry and shout and be as silent as the corpse in front of them, trapped in shock. He had had people come with him without much fuss, they had made peace with the inevitable and those souls were truly pleasant to reap. He had had people try to beg him for more time, he had had necromancers, he had had some people even try to flirt with him - heck, one particular elf even succeeded and wouldn’t let any opportunity go to waste if it meant that he could tell people he was dating the grim reaper.
So when he stepped through the rift between planes and saw the massacre of a traincrash before him and all the souls waiting to be collected, he didn’t spare them a glance except for the one assigned to him.
A fairly young, human man, maybe early twenties, with skin even darker than his own and even though they both had dreadlocks, the ones of the man were much thinner, had glass and wooden pearly threaded onto them and probably reached almost to his knees, unlike Kravitz’s much shorter ones that only brushed his shoulder blades when hanging free.
He was sitting next to his own corpse, still and watching. Kravitz suspected he was in shock, like a few others, which was almost to be expected after such a sudden death. Upon closer inspection though, the soul was simply calm and sad, watching the scene in front of him with worry and grieve, but silent, as a beautiful elven man with a striking amount of white hair clutched his corpse desperately. And then, as Kravitz fully manifested the skin over his bones, although muffled by the separation of planes, he heard the crying, the begging.
“Jahal! Jahal Ah can’t - ya can’t leave me Ah- what am Ah supposed ta do without you?! Ah can’t - ya can’t leave, Ah beg of you, don’t leave me, don’t, please, Ah’ll do anythin’, please, Please! Ye’re all Ah live fer Ah can’t - how could Ah go on wi- go on without ya, Ah can’t, please, Jahal, don’t do this ta me, don’t leave, stay wi- don’t leave me here alone, don’t, anything, anything, no, nO!” his sobbing took over and the words were too garbled to understand anymore, he seemed to slip into an entire different language then too that Kravitz’s omnipresence refused to translate.
Well, that was...odd. He would ask the Raven Queen later.
“I can’t even say goodbye, can I?” the soul asked, mourning clear in his voice, yet he seemed calm, too calm, but not shock-calm.
“You can’t, it would be against every rule.” the man let out a sigh, and yet did not move, didn’t even look at Kravitz, only watched on. His eyes became shiny with unshed tears, but he blinked them away quickly, not wanting to miss a single second.
“I knew it would come to this, sooner or later.” he says, a slight tremble in his voice. But Kravitz knew this tone, knew when someone spoke like that they expected this scenario for a long time now. “I knew that I would die before him, either by time or because of something like this.” he weakly gestured to the wreckage. “I knew that and he knew that and he still stayed with me. Still allowed this inevitable torture to happen.” he takes a shaky breath, to steady himself, twists the ring on his finger. “But this is… the worst outcome. Sure, it’s quick, we were happy just a few minutes ago. But this…” he sighs and now Kravitz looks from the soul to the weeping elf. And if he still had a heartbeat it might have just stopped.
He was a grim reaper. He dealt with necromancers. He had seen a lot. But this? This was unheard of. He watched as the elf’s left leg seemed to rebuilt itself out of nothing, centimeter by centimeter the bone grew back, followed by flesh and skin. Watched organs pull themselves back into the body. The long bleeding gash over his back closed itself up to leave only smooth skin crossed by an uncountable lighter decolorations in its wake, like the wound hadn’t even been there in the first place. He watched the mortally wounded man heal from mangled to perfectly fine, although the leg took much longer. He watched as black goop slowly oozed out of wounds and formed armor over them, instead of red blood staining the ground.
“He’s not a necromancer, heck, he isn’t even a healer. He didn’t even do this to himself!” desperation and hurt and anger mixed together “Someone else did this to him, tortured him, and yet - and yet he choose to love me anyway, he choose this despite knowing something like this would happen.” he couldn’t hold back the tears anymore, cried alongside his loved one but didn’t dare to look away, even as his composure crumbled, his shoulders sagged “We were on our way to my sister’s wedding, we were going to dance, finally open my flower shop, we wanted to- we bought a house and he finally felt safe and secure enough to settle in one place, he could finally sleep through the night when I lied down next to him, we were going to adopt a child we- I” he caught his breath and seemed to choke on it, yet gulped down more to press on “he said I was his whole life, I was his reason to live, and I know it’s true, I finally- finally made him smile and I can’t-” he sobbed “and now I can’t even say goodbye.” he couldn’t hold it in any longer and doubled over, tears flowing through the gaps between his fingers and through the digits themslves as he covered his face with his hands.
Kravitz had seen so many deaths, so many couples ripped apart from each other, but now… now he knew what if felt like to be in love again, to devote his whole heart to one person and his chest hurt. Rules were rules. Kravitz, only hesitating for a moment, but then firmly, put a hand on one of the man’s shoulders.
“We have to go.” he said, successfully not choking on his words. The man sobbed, looked up again at his lover, and nodded. He let Kravitz gently lead him through a new rift, clutching himself in a hug. Once they were on the other side, the man took large gulps of breath, seemingly not realizing yet that he didn’t even need to breath anymore. Something like that occurred all too often.
“Can I - they always say the dead watch over the living can I- is there any chance that I can at least see him? I mean” he took more steadying breaths, tears still flowing and shoulders still trembling “I know I can’t - we won’t be able to talk or, or interact, I know that but, can I at least - watch? Over him? Just for reassurance? Is that possible?” the man just died and yet could only worry about the other. Kravitz’s finger itched for his stone of far-speech, craved for the lazy drawl in Taako’s voice. Kravitz frowned, dark eyebrows knitting together. The man became slightly desperate, clutching himself harder “At least, a peak? Sometimes? Or- or like, an update? Something like that? Anything?” Kravitz hesitated at the desperation clearly projected by the man’s whole being.
“I can…” the rules had certain...loopholes “...I can give you updates, yes. Sometimes. If your…”
“Husband.” the man supplied quickly.
“...if your husband is somehow involved.” the man bit his lower lip, suddenly calm, like a switch had been flipped over.
“Is there… punishment here...for certain people?” Kravitz’s eyebrows lifted in surprise.
“There is indeed, yes. But you never dabbled in necromancy, did you?” this soul had been assigned to Kravitz, almost pure as snow, a pleasant surprise so to speak. The mortals couldn’t possibly have found a way to worm themselves out of the Raven Queen’s system, right? The man licked his lips.
“Ah, no, I mean… what if you killed someone?” he hesitated “Actually, let’s say quite a number of someones?” he fidgeted, another residue of being alive, and shifted in his place, which was a questionable achievement seeing as they weren’t technically standing on any ground.
“Well… I mean… we only really care if someone tries to escape the natural order of things or tries to bring someone back, as the Raven Queen can’t really be bothered by mortal morality standards, so…” the man seemed relieved, then stiffened up again.
“Can we… talk in private over that ‘escaping the natural order’ thing?” Jahal asked, throwing glances at the other reapers that passed by or the occasional soul trying to listen in.
And Kravitz listened with rapt attention as the newly deceased husband sat with him in his office and told the reaper everything, from gruesome experiments and from an elf that couldn’t die, no matter how often his heart had already stopped beating.
 --------------------------------------------------------
Kravitz was, to say the least, slightly unsettled by this assignment. The Raven Queen only gave him date and time, smiled that smile that meant she knew something, that smile that she took over from the goddess of fate -so, her girlfriend- that smile that meant she found this possibly amusing, but also possibly nerve-cutting for Kravitz. Sure, he completely trusted his goddess, but she had a sense of humor he didn’t always necessarily share.
When he stepped through the rift, he found himself in a nicely decorated home, although here and there, in little details that seemed to scream at him, he could see abandonment. The kind of abandonment when people had stopped caring about life - it was sad, truly. But at least for those people he could be a sort of - relieve. When people started to view their lives not worth to life, it became torture, every intake of breath a grim reminder of being imprisoned in a cage of flesh and bones and a heartbeat.
Kravitz had seen a lot of people react to seeing him, seeing him in his nice looking flesh, or his more professional, grimmer looking skeletal form that Takko would not stop teasing him about when it happened on accident or when he was flustered.
He had had yet to see someone start crying from happiness upon the realization that they died.
“Fer all that is holy and unholy, please tell me ye’re the grim reaper and ‘ere ta collect mah soul.” a voice spoke up. And he was faced with an almost ethereally beautiful elven man -even more beautiful than Taako, although Kravitz would never even admit it in his head that he just thought that- with white hair and a silver eye and an accent so unique he instantly recognized it. Oh. So that’s why she had been smiling.
The train crash.
The experiment, the immortal - Jahal’s husband.
Kravitz smiled.
“He’s waiting.” he opened another rift as the soul in front of him broke out in a bright, sharp-toothed smile - and a sob.
“So was Ah.” the soul almost ran through the rift and before Kravitz could even close it again after going through it himself, he already heard the happy laughter of soulmates reunited.
