U said you were finalizing concepts... does that mean you have earlier concept art of your au?

Oooohhh boy... guessing you mean Bio AU? Then yea, I've got uh... quite a bit of concept work for Sun 'n Moon. They're... troublesome.

My first go of it was to try and make them like. Frilled lizards? Wearing masks. I went with a lot of reptilian traits because most color-changing animals are herpetiles (like chameleons and frogs), to make more sense of the sun-moon change. However, this was unsettling and I did not like it so I scrapped it pretty quick

Second pass was... similar to the first one, but just. Refined to make them more true to their original design. Still felt off and it was really hard to figure out how they would still function/eat/talk with a 'mask' on. I came up with a super complicated way but then it was like. Okay, its creepy and FazEnt wouldn't go this far its too complicated. From here I knew I had to give them an actual face

This is when I got the owly idea, which meant they had to be fluffy as opposed to skin/scaly. From there I got a bunch of insp from lemurs, capuchins, and other primates- because it would make sense for FazEnt to design something meant to take care of children as cute, fluffy, and mammalian as opposed to reptilian (as much as I love me some good reptiles). I also figured at this point it would be necessary to split up Sun and Moon since color changing was off the table (plus then you could get weird tag team Creature Moments which was fun).

Their silhouette still felt off though, even if I liked the concept- so I kept playing with it until I got the designs you see here. It was also a lot of debating of hands vs paws and How Does That Neck Work.

Mostly I think it was the fluffy neck throwing it off, as much as I liked it. Make him look top heavy.

Whoso List To Hunt

A 4t3 Conversion of Teanmoon’s French Hood from her House of Tudor Set.

I’m on a bit of a Tudor kick. Have a French hood.

It was popular from 1500 to about 1590; not a bad run for a hat. The style was more popular among women of means, but was widespread enough that sumptuary laws in the 1540s restricted its use to the wives of men who owned one or more horses. (And, one presumes, their daughters and other female relations.) Famous wearers include Catalina of Aragon, Anne of Brittany, Mary Tudor, and--of course--Anne Boleyn.

The hood is found in the earrings slot and is for Teen to Elder sims. The custom thumbnail is my own creation and looks like this:

It’s hat-slider compatible, so you should be able to adjust it to fit most hairs; I’d advise you to stick to hairs that are close to the head and relatively flat in the back, as buns look a little goofy poking through the veil! Also, use caution when wearing with dresses that have a standing collar, as the veil will clip and it looks awkward from behind.

It’s not valid for random, but it IS valid for everyday, formal, athletic, martial arts, makeover, AND maternity. Additionally, it is compatible with fat, thin, and fit morphs, so all of your court ladies can wear it. At least before someone bans it from the court for being too immodest (Jane Seymour to the white courtesy phone, please).

I’ve included all of teanmoon’s original presets as stencils, so you have your pick of colors from black to pink. Unfortunately, it’s not recolor-able. Please see the TOU if you’d like to take a whack at making it recolorable!

(Psst--if you’d like a list of hood colors to better match your clothes to in the meantime, I’ve also included a document with the hex codes in the file.)

INKTOBER DAY 3 - Bait

My other Inktober Art

473 words.

The sun tickles Alia awake when it’s not even 6AM and she knows even before she opens her eyes that Morgan will kill her if she tries to wake her now.

Why did Morgan put my bed in this corner of the room if she hates it when I wake up early?! It’s not my fault when the sun tells me to!

She sneezes and then sits up, blinking in the bright light. Then she sneezes again.

What am I supposed to do now?, she wonders, trying to suppress the third sneeze, but it doesn’t work. The bed is warm and soft and truly inviting, but the world outside of it is even more so, and there’s little Alia can do against its allure.

“I could… draw…”, she says dubiously, just to test the strength of the words out loud, but even as they leave her mouth she knows that today isn’t a day for drawing.

Today is a day for … something else. But what?

She pulls the blankets higher, bunching them up around her shoulders, and tries to ignore how alien her body still feels, how wrong it looks. No. Today isn’t a day for self-reflection either. (May that day never come.)

Today is a day for… cats?

Maybe!

She pushes the blankets away and jumps out of her bed, pulling on a thick pair of socks because it’s cool outside the bed and she isn’t a total buffoon. She’s listened to some of the things Morgan has said, after all. Not all, but definitely… some.

Enough.

Then she carefully opens her door (to minimize the creaking) and dashes for the living-room. And the cats.

Two hours later, it’s almost 8AM. Well, maybe not quite. But … close. The cats have been played with (they’re now back to being sleepy, the butts). The clock has been stared at. (It moves sooo sloooowly…)

She’s even taken a book out of the shelf and started reading it! Not that she got very far. There were a few words she didn’t really know so she stopped after three pages. But she tried!!

Is it late enough?

It must be late enough!

It definitely isn’t.

How do you make someone as night-owly as Morgan get up before eight… on a Saturday?

It’s at this exact moment that genius strikes, and Alia knows that Morgan will never be safe again from getting-up-early, because she, Alia Nyx, has figured out her fatal weakness. (Not that it was hard.)

The true difficulty is finding the right bait: The Right Book (a book Morgan doesn’t know yet but will be incapable of withstanding!).

The perfect bait.

And Alia knows just where to find it.

After all, what good is a neighbour if they don’t help you procure the perfect novel to put as bait into your morning-trap?

As stated prior, the last few months I came to realize I’m not as happy here as I once was. Whilst I’m not leaving necessarily, I won’t be here anywhere near as often, and I won’t be active the way I have been. In fact, I’m for the most part going to run on a Q when I am here from now on.

But now is not the time for that, now is the time to welcome in the new decade, say goodbye to the old to welcome in the new. The pain of the past needs to melt away to welcome in the future. The universe has a plan and if something’s not meant to be, we need to welcome in the probability that something better is in it’s path instead. My love for many of you is eternal, these are some special picks. No, this is not a super long list, rather a short one of those I consider close, that I know are active here. Specialty mentions, the main reason I’m not leaving this platform altogether. While I’ve left a list of other places I’m capable of being found, I will return here in particular for them, and the new friends I may make along the way.
