Tumse Milke is a song from the Movie Parinda. Parinda is a hard hitting movie about organized crime and gangs in the city of Mumbai (or Bombay as it was known back then). Amid the violent theme of the movie, there is a beautiful love story that feels real and so organic. The song Tumse Milke, is the highlight of this beautifully enacted love story. This unplugged and slowed down version of Tumse Milke, is made with an attempt for me to relive some of my memories of watching this wonderful movie, and reminiscing Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit waltzing away to this wonderful song. sometimes indian songs have the most hauntingly gorgeous lyrics. i mean stab-me-in-the-heart-with-a-rusted-spoon level dard and beauty. example, these two lines from aashiq tera from happy bhaag jayegi:

main parinda hoon tu hai sitaara, main apna aasmaan chunu tu apna aasmaan

we both belong to the same sky, but in vastly different spheres. i, as a bird, will always fly through the sky in the hopes of someday reaching you, the star, instead of merely basking in your radiance. you are a permanent fixture in my sky, you have left an imprint on my heart. but you, as a star, belong to a greater galaxy, your heart belongs to someone else.

you will never be mine, but these glimpses that i have stolen will forever remain with me, even as we go our different ways. i will always be content in my admiration, knowing that you will never be mine, knowing that you were not the star in my destiny.

the sheer unrequited love that pours through these lines is just -wow. hats off to mudassar aziz for the accurate lyricism.
