Oh really now? So your logic dictates that it’s okay if the gem is basically a newborn then? Then it’s safe to ship them with Steven? What a load of bullshit.

Let me lay it on you in terms you will understand: Gems. Are. Ageless. Sentient. Rocks. They even stated it themselves clear back in season 1! Pearl tells Steven in So Many Birthdays that they do not age. Age, like their bodies, is just an illusion. We’ve been shown many times over and over that their mentally and emotional level is what basically determines what their equivalent age is. Sometimes it’s in their voice and the way they talk as well.

Also, Steven is at the age of consent for a lot of areas, including the states Delmarva is based on. Besides, who the hell is gonna take advantage of him, he’s got the power of a diamond.

Tellin’ ya right now, these arguments you people keep recycling over and over again would not hold up in a court of law. You’d be laughed out of the courtroom.

what you think of Pearlven?

It’s very interesting and worth exploring for people for whom it is in their tastes!! I think there’s a rich vein of canon fodder to dissect and contort into a muddy, complicated mess. I enjoy the aspect of Pearl that wants to be uniquely appreciated/Steven’s favorite, like residue of her seeking Rose’s approval. She needs to be validated by Steven liking her a lot. There is no real-world equivalent for what Pearl is going through, and it’s interesing to imagine what you’d... do... if.... your lover just... kind of... became... your little brother figure (the gems are not maternal figures and shouldn’t be analyzed as such imo, to understand them/steven). .... to a gem, your gem is You, and rose’s gem still being There is... maddening, I think. It’s hard to completely divorce Steven from Rose, I think. I think it always will be.

I don’t fancy it myself ‘cuz I don’t find Pearl attractive in looks or personality (she’s interesting, just not sexy to me), and I’m actually specifically interested in Steven/peridot and Steven/Lapis (especially) because, I love that they have no preconceived notions about Steven due to Rose. They don’t only speak to Steven in the first place because of who he used to be part of, or with the hope of seeing that lost person in him. They aren’t ingratiated in this way to some different person who Steven simply is not. Steven has to perpetually live in the shadow of his mother around the gems, for quite a long time this is a tangible anxiety of his in-series, and I like that Lapis and Peridot are two people who simply adore steven because of what he did for them, and to them. They think he’s smart and strong and good because he was all those things to them, personally, even when it wasn’t convenient or smart for him to lend a hand out to either of them. He made huge differences in their lives, when he didn’t Have to. He means a lot to them not as a relic of the past, but as an individual person, from the start. I also enjoy that as homeworld gems with little understanding for human culture or society, I think they perceive him more as an equal than the gems, who DO understand Steven as a CHILD, a KID, and for a long time, IMMATURE and in need of GUIDANCE. Peridot and Lapis don’t think of him this way. He’s like, the smartest and most capable leader of the crystal gems, to them. I love that someone thinks of Steven so highly, because I love Steven so much.

Because of her past deeply romantic relationship with Rose & my disinterest in romance I don’t have an interest in it, pearlven. But it’s compelling emotionally. And I think that intermingling of familial & romantic love is unique & difficult for Pearl to endure.

Here’s something to think about...

Okay, one thing that confuses me is that people are raging over me(and a few others) shipping Larsteven(Lars x Steven), but people aren’t fussing over Stevidot and Pearl x Steven(at least from what I’ve seen). I mean, it’s okay if you ship those two, I ain’t gonna judge or attack you(you can ship what you want), but if you think about it, Pearl is THOUSANDS of years older than Steven and Peridot is HUNDREDS of years older that Steven. I know that Pearl and Peridot are gems and they don’t have actual ages, but there’s still that huge age gap.

I’m not saying to go attack Stevidot and Pearlven(do they actually have a ship name or did I just make that name up idk) shippers, because that’s just rude and it hurts others. So please, before you tell others to stop shipping what they’re shipping, think about how you could be affecting that persons feelings and let others ship what they want. At the end of the day, someone’s going to(probably) end up with hurt feelings. After all, it’s just a ship. It’s not like it’s hurting you or your friends and family.

Alright, since it’s difficult to search for anything with steven in it since his name in the show, and I really wanna find posts about him and pearl (platonically, of course), I wish to propose something to the fandom. 

My idea is that we call their platonic relationship stearl. (this can be done similarly with other characters) Why Stearl? Cause Pearlven was taken by the small minority that ship Pearl and Steven (blegh). Please folks, I just really wanna see more posts that validate the mother-son bond between Pearl and Steven.

I feel like Steven X any of the main crystal gems is kinda messed up because those are his moms (I saw the pearleven ask)

Pearl is more of his mom, Garnet the aloof aunt, and Amethyst the sister, but hey, I ain’t gonna judge if people ship them, it’s all for fun anyway, and those particular ships will never be canon, so I don’t see what the big deal is.
