Elegance Unleashed: The Rolls-Royce Chronicles 🚗✨
Hey Tumblr fam! 🌟 Today, we're diving deep into the opulent world of Rolls-Royce, where each car tells a story of craftsmanship, luxury, and innovation. Buckle up as we take you on a mesmerizing journey through nine of Rolls-Royce's greatest hits, weaving a tale that transcends time and sparks the automotive enthusiast in you! 🔥
🌈 A Symphony of History: Let's kick things off with the historic 10 hp, the very first Rolls-Royce to grace the streets. Imagine the buzz of 1904 London as Charles Rolls and Henry Royce unveiled this masterpiece, priced at a jaw-dropping £395. It's not just a car; it's a symphony of history.
👑 The Corniche Saga: Fast forward to the '70s, where the Corniche took center stage in both coupe and convertible forms. Crafted by the meticulous hands of Mulliner Park Ward, it laid the foundation for the sleek Bentley Continental GT we admire today. It's more than a car; it's an art form on wheels.
🏁 Dakar Dreams: Ever wondered about a Rolls-Royce in the Paris-Dakar Rally? Meet the Dakar Corniche of 1981, a beast with a Chevrolet V8 and the heart of a Toyota HJ45 Land Cruiser. It's not just a rally car; it's a testament to the unbridled spirit of adventure.
💫 The Silver Ghost's Legacy: Step into the era of the Silver Ghost, originally known as the 40/50 hp. AX201 stands as a symbol of individuality, eventually earning the title "the best car in the world." It's not just a car; it's a legacy.
🚀 Phantom's Evolution: From the Phantom I in 1925 to the game-changing Phantom VII, each iteration of the Phantom series is a chapter in the automotive history book. A straight-six engine, V12 powerhouses—each model is a canvas of innovation. It's not just a car; it's a journey through time.
🌟 Drophead Coupe Magic: Fast forward to 2007, where the Phantom Drophead Coupe stole the show. A two-door convertible with a V12 engine and an interior drenched in opulence. It's not just a car; it's a statement of grandeur.
⏳ Post-WWII Resurgence: Enter the post-World War II era with the Silver Wraith of 1946, the first Rolls-Royce of its time. With a 4.3-litre straight-six engine and a chassis open to the artistry of coachbuilders, it's not just a car; it's a phoenix rising from the ashes.
Ready to embark on this journey through automotive excellence? Dive into our blog for the full experience. Each Rolls-Royce model is more than a car; it's a testament to the pursuit of perfection. Join us in celebrating the artistry, the innovation, and the sheer elegance that defines Rolls-Royce. 🌐✨

Q&A-Who are all of you? Favorite things to do? Fandoms other than Marvel?
❤️💛THANK YOU FOR SENDING IN YOUR QUESTION TO HELP US CELEBRATE 9000 FOLLOWERS❤️💛
Tumblr media
I’ve been known on here as Mod 2 for over a year, but since we’ve added several new mods and finders onto the team, it might be easier to give myself a name now. You all can call me Mod Clover🍀. I prefer to keep my tumblr on the down low, so I hope you don’t mind me not linking my main account. As for favorite activities; I enjoy baking, painting my nails/nail art, recently started trying to teach myself embroidery, reading, and playing video games (mostly Animal Crossing right now but I just got the Phoenix Wright trilogy). For fandoms, I LOVE The Legend of Zelda series. Star Wars is pretty cool. I grew up watching Avatar:TLA, Teen Titans, and Sailor Moon. Currently enjoying My Hero Academia. Want to get back into the Percy Jackson books.
-Mod Clover🍀
I've been a mod here since day 1 because I started the group, but then it got too much to handle for me and now I don't do as much as the other mods. I help find some fics, but running this blog so flawlessly goes to the other mods on the team! I love to write, play hockey and golf, play some video games, and read. Some other fandoms I'm in/I've been apart of are: Maximum Ride, Phineas and Ferb, Transformers, Castle, and Supernatural, as well as Disney, though I don't do any writing for that.
-mod s
I’m Beth. One of the new mods on the group. :) I generally take care of the Follower Outreach on here. My favorite things to do are run/exercise, travel and explore, puzzles, sing, knitting and crochet. I’m not really in any other fandoms but I do like Merlin(BBC), Lucifer, The West Wing, all the Chicago based shows- Med, Fire, PD etc as well as NCIS.
-Mod Beth 👻
I’m Finder Laronia and i am pretty new to this group :D I applied when there was an outreach for ficfinders and seeing that i read a ton and kept a private library for them, i thought i could be of some use :’D I love reading, drawing, writing and playing console games and i LOVE normal and “special” photography like infrared photography or astrophotograpy. The very first fandom i was consciously passionate about was Supernatural, followed by twilight and rise of the guardians, but recent fandoms have been Yuri on Ice and Zelda: Breath of the Wild. That also made me realize that i have been in the Zelda “fandom” since i was…. 4?XD because it’s ALWAYS been part of my life, i only never knew fandoms existed at that time :D
I applied to be a mod with the last wave of applications and got accepted, so I’ve been here a few months now. I primarily focus on finding lost fics and queuing asks to post. Outside of this blog, I love reading and writing fics for Irondad, SPN, Batfam, Teen Wolf, and a few other fandoms, as well as being outside in nature, puzzles, hanging with friends, and chilling with my cats.
- mod B
I joined the team during the recent round of finder applications because I have a pretty good memory of the fics I've read which is very helpful for finding lost fics, and I enjoy putting together fic rec lists. Some of my other hobbies include programming, playing video games, designing video games, writing, and playing music - I was a percussionist in my high school band! Believe it or not, I would say irondad is my secondary fandom - my primary fandom is Pokémon. I consider myself a bit of a Pokémon expert and I've written tons of fic for the games and manga. Some other fandoms I've dabbled in include X-Men, Phantom of the Opera, Phineas and Ferb, Tangled: The Series, and Percy Jackson/Trials of Apollo!
-Finder Storm
I used to be Mod 1 but I've since stepped back from the blog (aside from the occasional technical thing) now that Clover has more help and I'm busy with school. I'm Sere :) (it's like siri)
- Mod Sere 💛

The Best (and Worst) Films of 2019

In many ways, 2019 served as a crucible, and no more so, at least cinematically, than with the venerable superhero flick. After a deluge of big studio films on the subject of capes and spandex (the MCU includes 22 films since the 2008 release of Iron Man; the nascent DCU, running it fits and starts has seven), we saw the explosive close-out of the previous “phases” with Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame; as well as the rise of pseudo art-house comic book film, Joker, in the same bloody year.
The talk on Film Twitter  —  the living definition of ‘tempest in a teacup’ —  was all about those films, and Martin Scorsese’s now legendary take down of the genre by referring to the super hero films, collectively, as  “theme parks.” But in truth, there were many, many other films that came out during the year, some of them utterly brilliant, some of them ridiculously awful. Here are my picks for both, with some of what I wrote about them at the time in my review.
10. Avengers: Endgame
“There are so many small but noteworthy details -- opening the film with Traffic's "Dear Mr. Fantasy"; the name drops, and special shout-outs to comics' fans; the small character beats that allow each protagonist more than just a quip or two; the closing credits, which give singular notice to the stars who have been there from the beginning, and wisely do not use the signature Marvel trick of teasing out the next film, which gives the series, at last, a sense of real closure, if only temporary -- the film feels as if it has been created and calibrated with the utmost care. For a film destined to break the bank no matter how shoddy they might have made it, Marvel has poured enough genuine soul into it to earn its inevitable bounty.”

9. Her Smell
“In some ways, the film takes on a sort of Raging Bull aspect, Martin Scorsese's classic film about a boxer's rise and fall, only to turn the ending on its head. In Scorsese's picture, we see Jake LaMotta, now fat and retired, attempt to break into showbiz as a comedian, the scenes draped in cutting sardonicism. Perry gives Becky a much less punishingly ironic turn, but instead a hero's journey, venturing away from the abyss into something a good deal less grandiose and realized.”

8. The Last Black Man in San Francisco
“It's also a film about the versions of the stories whose ideas lend depth and valor to our otherwise nondescript lives, the things we hope make us the heroes of our own narratives. In this way, Jimmie's story is conflated with that of the city itself, and the palpable sense of loss he feels about his family's house is mirrored in the city's own loss of identity.”

7. Under the Silver Lake
“Mitchell fairly stuffs the film with portents, symbols, and runes, some real, some imagined. Squirrels mysteriously fall dead at Sam's feet, a parrot in his courtyard keeps calling out something he can't decipher, a dog killer stalks the neighborhood, and graffiti strewn about the area calls out to him. Films are always encoded with symbolic meaning, utilizing visual language to instill emotion and establish significance for the audience (think of Spielberg's girl with the red coat in Schindler's List, or James Dean's red windbreaker in Rebel Without a Cause), Mitchell's film gives us so many options, almost everything can be read symbolically, which perfectly captures the paranoia his character feels, and the pointlessness of trying to make sense of it at all.”

6. Marriage Story
“Noah Baumbach’s latest film, about the dissolution of married couple – played extraordinarily well by Adam Driver and Scarlett Johansson – will no doubt get comparisons made to Bergman’s brilliant Scenes From a Marriage. But whereas that 1972 film concerned the relationship itself, its highs and lows and metamorphoses, Baumbach’s film is much more about the logistics, legal and otherwise, of ending a very much shared life together.”
Capsule Review
5. Midsommar
“Viewing Aster's films is a bit like walking into an art installation -- quite literally, as he populates his frame with stunning compositions and art-focused mise en scene, as with the beautifully designed wooden structures of the compound, or the exquisite murals and art displayed on the building's walls (a huge shout-out to his production designer, Henrik Svensson, and the art directing crew) -- but, as with Hereditary, behind all the sumptuous, hand-crafted beauty, there is a cruel, brutal core of humanity's continued savagery. If art represents the best sort of impulses of humankind, in Aster's hands, it becomes yet another facade, hiding -- or in this case, exemplifying -- our instinct for vicious barbarity.”

4. Parasite
“By the end, as it swerves inexorably into blood-soaked violence, the film reveals to be a bit of a con itself, drawing us in with its enticing humor, then opening up into a much darker vision, before ending on an emotional note of surprising vulnerability. Through it all, Bong shows a mastery of odd tones, from the opening comedic salvo, to the final emotional beats.”
Capsule Review
3. Uncut Gems
“It’s one of those pressure-cooker films, where the steam builds more and more intense as Howard gets in and out of trouble through his ability to constantly shift the playing board. There’s a scene about midway through, with various aggrieved characters coalescing at once in his office, as he’s trying to have a speaker phone conversation with his doctor, that’s so stressful, you will want to avert your eyes and remind yourself of the exit signs.”
Capsule Review
2. Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
“It's also an unexpected joy to watch the nonchalant swagger of Pitt match up with DiCaprio's more high-strung ministrations. Two of the biggest film stars alive playing mostly washed up TV actors may stack the irony, but both of them settle in so well into their characters, you can't help but admire the result. Rick is a dude whose ego has gone from tumescent to shriveled -- he parks his car miserably in front of one of his own old movie posters -- but beneath all his hubris and despair, he actually has a lot of talent. As always, it's pure joy to watch Pitt smoke up a screen, a middle-aged Redford speaking every line with a sinfully breezy smile, whose confidence extends around him like the golden hue of his deep suntan.”

1. Knives Out
“More than the plot itself, an ingenious and kinetic thing that's as satisfying as a hot bowl of soup on a raw and windy day, there's the sense of joyous chaos from the cast. Those scenes where the family is all together, in the drawing room and continually at each other's throats are so delicious, they should come with a napkin. The interplay between vets like Shannon, Johnson, Curtis and Collette is filled with fractious energy, the characters revisiting age-old disagreements ("Your kid's a brat!" -- "Your kid is a Nazi!") with sadistic glee. Even when they band together, in moments, against what they believe to be a common enemy, it's clear the harmony between them is more Iggy and the Stooges than Beach Boys. In short, Johnson has devised a perfect ensemble of dreadful characters and set them all against one another in a narrative fishbowl filled with lye.”

5. Greta
“In short, Jordan turns Greta into a Michael Myers-esque boogeyman, everywhere and no place at once, almost a phantom, but for her high heels and French condemnation. In this way, the filmmaker loses his grip on his material.”

4. Ma
“Apart from a truly absurd script, director Tate Taylor's film performs ungainly political gyrations -- asking us to root against a survivor of sexual abuse and humiliation for trying to gain (albeit misplaced) revenge on her attacker. Sort of a rape-revenge thriller set upside down, such that nothing makes any ethical (or emotional) sense. It quickly becomes an awkward mishmash of impulses, wanting to provide cheap scares while fostering a deeply schizoid sense of sympathy, while managing to fail mightily at both.”

3. The Dead Don’t Die
“Jarmusch's proclivities have always leaned toward such lightly affecting material -- as if the act of actually generating emotion is somehow vulgar and unseemly -- which has also endeared him to his faction of fans. For everyone else, though, it doesn't leave much to look at. Filmed without fanfare (albeit with a few more special effects than usual, and a kind of cool splattering of sand-like mist when the zombies are beheaded), and with the intensity knobs all turned down to their lowest setting, he continues his sous vide-style of filmmaking. Whether you like the dish he's serving, or want to throw your hands in the air and go somewhere else for dinner is all in your temperament. Whatever you choose, you can be certain the same menu will be available the next time you venture back.”
Full Review
2. Dark Phoenix
“The clearest loss, however, is with the story itself -- its legacy struck deep in Marvel lore -- once again being studio nitpicked, and focus-grouped to within an inch of its life. If Endgame audaciously proved a superhero movie could rise toward an emotionally satisfying arc, this failed attempt proves the opposite is also true: Chronic incoherence, even if spread out among a multitude of titles over 20 years, just feels like a soulless money grab. Adding to the sense of this film's slapdashery, the trailer features lines and moments unused in the actual cut, which is never a good sign.”

1. Lucy in the Sky
“The film is meandering and pretty much pointless, a major flaw that Hawley himself indicated in his introduction (“we work as hard on the bad ones as we do the good ones,” he told the audience in an example of supreme foreshadowing. Portman does her best, but the film sputters pretty hard, and is never able to justify itself.”

Morrigan - The Raven Queen
The Morrigan is a triune goddess, three entities in one, the maiden, the mother, the crone. She is the young shield maiden, the clever and nimble shape shifter. She is the fiery mother who will fight to protect the weak and helpless. She is the battle herald and crone, phantom queen of death and transformation.
This piece of sacred art has been created so that when we need to fight for life, for the earth, for our children, we will find the strength here with The Morrigu.
For this piece of sacred art I chose Boa Island as the place and space to manifest The Morrigan being named after Badhbh (sometimes spelled, Badb), island of the Morrigan, the battle goddess. In the background of the image I placed the Janus stone and the Sheela Ne Gig Stone (now found together in Caldragh graveyard on Boa Island) on either side of a phoenix figure, rising as flame and smoke would from a battle field, transforming the moon blood red in honour of the fallen.
I have called on the power of the crows and ravens and have used them to accompany her, nine ravens, three for each aspect of the great queen. I have also embedded other animals in the image that she often chose to take the form of, in order to influence the lives of men and women.
I have also included a waterfall as the Morrigan is strongly linked with the element of water and was known to wash the armour of the men who were to do battle, heralding their deaths with the lament of a Banshee.
At the base of the waterfall is a sleeping figure, half donkey half man, the dreaming shaman on a midsummer’s eve. Above his head is a spine of Blackthorn with stars and eyes appearing through the blackest night.
I call you raven queen, for strength against adversity, to be battle ready, for times when I need to stand strong, protect and defend.

Zavala x Awoken Female Warlock | Mid/Post Forsaken | Slowburn | Gratuitous Descriptions of Light | Self-Confidence/Self-Worth Issues | Redemption
When the Traveler’s Light was returned to the Guardians after the defeat of the Cabal, it did not manifest itself the same in everyone. Miyu, an Awoken Warlock, finds herself struggling with her abilities, her Light feeling different and not her own. With her Vanguard preoccupied with grief and all eyes turned to the Reef, she finds herself turning to an unlikely source in an attempt to rediscover her connection to the Light and define what it means for her as a Dawnblade.
Tumblr media
Art for this one is brought to you by the lovely @crazy-bone-lady who gifted me this lovely sketch for my birthday last month (and I’m still screaming about it).
Previously
-/
She isn’t really awake when he rises with her in his arms, the wan rippling of starlight beneath her skin only the slightest bit dimmer than her eyes. Her head lolls against his armored chest, not softly, but not hard enough to hurt. Still, she hums some intelligible sound against him, relaxing when he says her name.
His measured, serious steps are easy to drift in and out to, but the whirlwind of transmat jolts her awake with a gasp.
“I’ve got you,” He tells her, his voice soft, breath warm against her forehead, when her breathing quickens and both Ghosts zoom in frantically. He presses his lips to her skin, featherlight. “It’s alright.”
She replies moments later, groggy and sleep-addled. “You’re squeezing me like it’s not.”
When what she says sinks in, he does his best to relax his grip. “Did I hurt you?”
She shakes her head, clearing some of the foggy feeling away. “Not at all,” Miyu replies.
He strides down a long hallway. His quarters, she realizes. Miyu keeps her gaze trained on him. He does not hold eye contact long, but she does feel his fingers twitch with the urge to hold her tighter again.
“Talk to me,” She says, when he lays her on one side of the bed.
Zavala turns away, rounds the bed and doffs his armor with a practiced slowness, the methodical unclasping of buckles and ties giving him something to do so she won't see the tremble of his hands. It would be too telling of his emotional imbalance, the war of fury and fear that he desperately needs to get under control.
Tamashii and Adelaide flit above her. When she props herself up on her elbows to try and remove her robes, they both make intelligible sounds of distress and assist her. Her Ghost's voice is firm. Worried. “Your blood pressure is still lower than usual. Hold still.”
“I'm okay,” She breathes into the relative quiet of the room.  “Just tired. I promise.” It is a good thing they intervened, though. Her vision swam a little around the edges with the movement.
“Let us take care of you,” Tamashii tells her in that gentle, almost timid, way of his that reminds her that he's just been put through something very bad. The little wobble of his voice suggests he needs to help her as much as she needs to be helped. Her sweet, precious Ghost. She reaches for him and he comes, sinks into her damaged palm with a shivering tumble. “I'm sorry,” He murmurs, shaky. Adelaide bobs overhead in silence. “Just for a little while.”
She cradles him close. “It's okay, Tamashii. I'm here.” She takes a moment to continue. “I'm sorry I frightened all of you.” He bumps her hand and phases away. She feels him like she would an overshield, his presence lurking protectively around her mind. It's Zavala's ghost that transmats away everything but her undergarments. She shifts, trying to get comfortable. She does feel a little achy, now that she thinks about it.
The bed dips beside her, and she rolls over to face him. The effort is harder than she cares to admit, but the hand he places on her cheek is warm. Soothing. She shuffles toward him and he moves his hand to her waist to pull closer.
He does not speak, not with words. His eyes say something else. They speak of fear. Concern. Worry.
Miyu lays the palm of her hand over his heart. It shakes with effort and the phantom tingles of nerve damage. “I'm fine, Zavala. Really.”
His unoccupied hand squeezes the one she’s laid on his bare chest; he's stripped into loose sleep pants and little else. His breathing is ragged. Chaotic, for a man who thrives on structure.
“Four Ghosts were powerless to bring you back,” He says, trying to abate the anger, but it bleeds into his voice regardless. Stoicism fails him. “For hours, Miyu. I held you for hours, not knowing-” His voice catches. He swallows. Dials it back, tries to get himself under control. “I thought I had lost you for good.”
She frowns. Her fingers sneak out from under his, and she lays them on his cheek, along the ribbons of pale tattoos. He tips his head up into it and kisses her palm like a man starved for touch.
“Ikora did not understand. Thought it was some kind of resistance, like your Ghost refused to help.” His hands clench into fists, a sharp contrast to her delicate fingertips dancing along his temples. “She killed you, repetitively. She almost killed you for good.”
“Zavala-” She finds herself pressed onto her back, not unkindly, drowning once more in depths of blue.
“I have held my composure for centuries,” He murmurs. “Through failures and devastation that should make what happened today pale to compare, and yet I,” He takes a breath, trying to abate his rambling. “I do not think I could handle losing you. What I mean to say is-”
Two gentle, delicate, trembling hands reach up to his shoulders and guide him down to lay half on top of her, his head on her breast, ear pressed to the heating of her heart. Warm. Alive. Here.
He closes his eyes, reaching for her hand. “I love you,” He whispers against her skin, across pale aura the color of stars and snow.
It isn't that she doesn't love him. Miyu thinks perhaps the fact that he's fallen in love with her despite how fragile, how broken she is, makes it that much more. And yet, when she tries to tell him that she loves him back, she chokes.
The Speaker's words echo in her mind, chill her to the bone. “You will hurt those who care for you, very much.”
“I know,” She whispers into the dark, tears leaking from her eyes. Her hand squeezes his like it’s her anchor, a lifeline despite the tingly-burn of pain the movement takes. “I know.”
He surges up to kiss her, and it's both terribly sad and unbelievably sweet. She wonders if, deep down, he really does know.
The path back to her Light, back to herself - to all that she is and all that she is meant to be - is a path that she must walk alone.
-/
Miyu carefully slides out of the bed and dresses in a shirt that’s far too large for her petite frame. Tamashii immediately scans her, zipping around her carefully as if there is something he can do if vertigo claims her and she tumbles to the floor. It does not, though. She feels significantly better. Not amazing, not like she’s normally felt lately, but her head is clear and her balance holds.
A look back at the bed tells her that her partner has not moved, a blanket draped over his bottom half, his usual half-frown, mostly stoic visage passive in sleep. She resists the urge to smooth her fingers over his brow; She can see the tension that lingers. It would only wake him up, and right now, she needs a moment alone with her other partner, the one to whom she’s inexplicably bound.
They slip out to the balcony of the Commander’s spacious abode, a small space of a modestly furnished living room. “We’re alone,” Tamashii tells her, knowing she’s going to ask. He flutters close, in front of her face. “What happened yesterday? Why did that happen yesterday?”
She sighs. “I had another vision.”
The back half of his cones spin, the golden trim catching the light of the rising sun. “A vision,” He processes. “Thanatanotics?”
“Maybe?” She shakes her head. “That’s never really been my thing,” She tells him, though they both know. “I talked with… well, he said he both was and wasn’t the Speaker, so…” She dips her head sheepishly, snow-white eyes daring to peek at Tamashii’s cyan optic.
Tamashii bobs midair and waits.
“He asked me about what makes me a Guardian. And…” She sighs. “He mentioned that the Light would guide me, when I was ready to stop being afraid.”
“Mmhmm,” The little being in front of her says. “And this took hours?”
“I don’t know how it works, Tamashii!” She whispers, so she doesn’t yell, “I didn’t ask for the vision!”
The Ghost recoils. “I’m sorry,” He apologizes. “I just - I couldn’t feel you, for a while there. Zavala wasn’t the only one who thought you were gone. I failed you. We tried-” Miyu plucks him from the air and holds him against her heart.
“No,” She admonishes. “You have never failed me, and you never will.” Her fingertips are soft and tender as she strokes his upper-most fin. “You brought me back the second you were able. I know you did.”
He bob in her hold, a resounding yes, and trembles. “I don’t know which was worse,” He whispers in his synthetic overtones, “At least when the Cabal attacked, I knew there was nothing I could have done, but this was… if I was stronger, maybe I could have-”
“No,” She says, drawing him back so that they can look at each other. “If the Traveler wished to speak to me, how could you have intervened?”
“The Traveler needed you dead?”
“Maybe,” Miyu says, with a tip of her head. “I don’t know. The Speaker said this would not happen again.”
Tamashii blinks his optic at her. “So next time, it’s for good?”
“There won’t be a next time,” Miyu replies. “I have to figure this out.”
“Did he give you something that would help you with that?” Tamashii sounds skeptical. Not that he wasn’t fond of the Speaker, because they both had been, but she can tell he’s at his limit.
She shakes her head. “He helped me realize something, though.”
“Okay…”
“I can’t do this here.”
“But-”
“Listen,” Miyu breathes. “Please.”
“Go ahead.”
“Ikora and Zavala, they want to help. Zavala’s efforts have really made things easier for me.” She taps her index finger against her cheek, and looks out at the City and the looming underbelly of the Traveler. “But I’m not making things any easier for them. The Traveler needs them, too. Working together.”
“That isn’t our problem.”
“Yes and no.” She runs her fingers through sleep-wrecked hair. “Look. Everyone has an idea of what’s best for me. And what happened yesterday is only going to make everyone’s opinions stronger. I’m sure you heard Zavala. He blames Ikora.”
“I do, too. She shouldn’t have provoked you.”
“We’re all fighting battles others don’t know about,” Miyu recalls, sagely. “We’re all human. We make mistakes.”
Tamashi flutters a bit, cones spinning as he processes, takes in the whole of her face. “What are you saying, then?”
“Zavala won’t want me dealing with Ikora.”
“No,” Tamashii agrees, “He won’t. I'm really not sure how I feel about you dealing with her, either. So what do you want to do?”
“I have to leave the Tower.”
Tamashii rocks back and forth. “Even if you told them you had a vision, Miyu-”
“I have to,” Miyu resolves. “It’s the only way.”
“Okay,” He considers, “Let’s say I agree with you. How will you do it?”
Miyu shrugs. “I’ll figure it out. If nothing else, there’s still Osiris.”
“The-there is?”
She nods. “Do you trust me?”
“As much as I think I’m going to need a therapist when this is all over-” She quirks a demure brow at him, the sunlight accentuating the hints of blue and purple and silver in her mostly pewter-black hair, “Of course I trust you, Guardian.”
Miyu smiles. “Glad to hear it.”

Tumblr media
  1 - ONCE UPON A TIME… IN HOLLYWOOD (2019, Quentin Tarantino)
Tumblr media
2 - MAD MAX: FURY ROAD (2015, George Miller)
OUR BABIES WILL NOT BE WARLORDS.
WHO KILLED THE WORLD?
WE ARE NOT THINGS.
Tumblr media
  3 - IT’S SUCH A BEAUTIFUL DAY (2012, Don Hertzfeldt)
C’est comme The Tree of Life, en mieux.
Tumblr media
4 - DUNKIRK (2016, Christopher Nolan)
Tumblr media
5 - THE WOLF OF WALL STREET (2013, Martin Scorsese)
Tumblr media
7 - SCOTT PILGRIM VS. THE WORLD (2010, Edgar Wright)
“WE ARE SEX BOB-OMB! ONE TWO THREE FOUR!”
Tumblr media
8 – UNCUT GEMS (2019, Josh & Benny Safdie)

9 - THE MASTER (2012, Paul Thomas Anderson)

 10 - THE RAID 2 (2014, Gareth Evans)

The Devils of King Magandagor, and Six Concordant Bells
Magandagor slides his good left hand down his throat, brushing fingertips against the crystalline edges of his fears, dark and heavy and weighing him down like a sackful of diamonds in the gut. Clean down to the elbow he slides it, unhinging his jaw with sorcerer’s tricks, until finally the hand finds a hold, twisting the kaleidoscopic bleakness free of its lodging and dragging it out into the world. The great ugly thing of his fear he smashes with a sledge of obsidian and yew wood, and of its broken shards he made twelve and twelve thousand devils, devils the darkness of he made incarnate, and their labor rose high the towers of Magandagor and made a great ruin of his foes.
Magandagor reigns for a generation, and there is prosperity. His demons work the fields and reap the harvest, put on great spectacles of entertainment and instruct peasants in cultured arts. A second generation, a third, a seventieth, and his dominion is a wonderland of hedonic diablerie, great pleasure-palaces and smoky dream-dens offering an incomparable respite at the tender ministrations of devils. A hundredth generation is born, and among them is a girl, named Six Concordant Bells by her nurse-devil, who is to be a hero. She is stolen away from her nursery-crèche by a noble-hearted wolf, and thus comes of age in the wilds, free of the temptations and corruptions of Magandagor’s wicked devils.
On the woman’s sixteenth birthday, her wolf-mother bade her return to civilization, having learned all the lessons of the wild. She walked a road of basalt and malachite till she came to the tower of the sorcerer-king. Its gates were devil-tended, thronged by fire-spitting rhymers of sapphire complexion, but the nails of Six Concordant Bells are long and sharp they, talons the rival of any steel. She gestures left-right-left with one hand, and shreds a devil into zigzag tatters. She moves among them a shadow she, reaving and rending and winnowing the flock of them.
A baroque helix of rough-hewn stone leads upwards to the Magandagor’s throne, his sentinels the oldest and greatest devils born so long ago from the greatest parts of his fear. An ogre-cataphract armored in plates of forgéd poetry is the first to shed her blood, a debt repaid by her sharp white teeth as she grapples the devil down. Her good right hand is burned all to cinders as she chokes the life from a phoenix of bleak truths, but still she persists. Surmounting the final step, she smites down the doors of the throne room, striding through flinders to meet the king of the devils.
Magandagor sits he his throne in solitude, at the center of a great seven-pointed star traced in lapis lazuli against a black stone floor, unvexed by viziers or functionaries. As Six Concordant Bells gazes she into his eyes, she sees no thing reflected, only light. “With all apologies for my mannerlessness, o king, you must forgive me, for there is no decorum among wolves. I am a hero, and I mean to make an end to you.” She swift-steps across the chamber, weaving serpentine ribbons of speed.
“You are mighty,” says Magandagor, rising from his throne. “Heroes make an end to the wicked, but I have no fear of my ending.” He slams a foot down on the lapis heptagram, and a shining wave of ward-light halts the hero’s advance. “It makes it very easy to think rationally in these kinds of circumstances.” Six Concordant Bells rakes her claws across his face, but he fades back from her with a phantom’s step, and she leaves only the shallowest wounds across one cheek. “That’s my tactical advantage!"
"It’s good to be fearless,” agrees Six Concordant Bells as she springs to the roof in a single bound. “But is it really helpful to be rational about things?” Magandagor cranes his neck upwards. “Really, if I was going to fight me, I wouldn’t try to be rational at all. Just go on instinct! That’s much more unpredictable.” Her leap comes to its apex, and she begins to fall on the king like a pouncing beast. Stone shatters beneath her feet, and Magandagor is flung back, collapsing onto his throne.
“You’re pretty unpredictable,” he concedes. “I do not think that you will best me, but really, I am impressed. I gained my wicked power by extracting all fear from my heart and turning it into devils to instruct me in all manner of wiles and secret arts. For a hero of your caliber to grow up alone amid the wilds is an impressive thing.” He raises two fingers, an acid green flame dancing above them. “It’s only because I’m so rational that I can admire you without it getting in the way of my killing intent."
Emerald fire arcs from Magandagor’s fingertips to strike Six Concordant Bells, and she is aflame. It is devil’s-fire, fed by the fuel of killing intent, and it burns soul-deep, but still the hero stands. "Actually, I didn’t grow up alone. A dog adopted me.” She half-limps towards the throne, and plunges her fist deep into the hollow of the devil-king’s chest with the last of her exertion. Once filled with fear and anxiety and human things, the king had drawn all those out to make his devils, and there was little left of him inside.
“Oh,” Magandagor says, with a measure of the last breath he will ever draw. “Fair enough.”
