Honestly I would love an atla fic of just vibes, characters doing things that they didn't in the show (being dockworkers! awesome!), so actually pls more descriptions of Zuko and Azula's life. Although of course just write it for yourself, the idea sounds amazing!

I've seen you bring up 'cotar' several times and now I've gotta ask, what exactly is so wrong with it, especially it's depiction of fae cause at this point I'm almost tempted to read it to find out for myself.

I just find it extremely poorly written, and the 'fae' there are barely distinguishable from elves with a few weirdly adapted versions of solstice/equinox days used only for sexual tension between characters really the only thing that hark back to the origin of 'fae' in the common cultural idea. I'm all for self indulgent media but I've read through all of the books and all I can really take away is that the characters were extremely boring and cliche, the main character was extremely uninteresting, which might be the worst sin a writer can commit (/joke,/lighthearted), the mechanics of the world and 'magic' made no sense, and overall I think it would've been better if it committed to the self indulgence and did away with the charade of trying to be a character-driven story.

Also I simply can't forgive that acotar has gradually replaced the common idea of fae in fantasy over time because they hardly count lol

#im not /super/ serious about any of this i just find the authors work to be poorly crafted in every example ive read #idc if its 'cringey' bc theres always something for everyone and im not gonna knock that #however i just think its a bad series and i wish people would dispose with the pretense of defending the story when its apparent they only #like the romance #which is fine! thats totally cool! its just in my opinion a poor intersection of story and indulgent romance fiction #that only really relies on the reader's want to get to the next sex scene to slog through everything else #not art #ask #i just cant stand when a single story or media overtakes the meaning of terms like 'fae' or even 'Tam Lin' #i personally dont think the romance writing is good at all but i really dont care lol its not my thing anyway #honestly my whole opinion is that it got popular because people are starved for good romance writing. the book doesnt give that but at leas #it was There. at least in the mindset of someone pursuing romance fiction #last addition i prommy but the author cannot help writing every woman who isnt the MC to be catty and mean and its irritating #i just dont like it lolll
