kind of crazy that the (revisionist) idea that the Nazis committed a genocide against trans people is being given more attention, visibility and credence than has ever been given to the actual genocide Nazis committed against Romani people

This might be a bit sensitive topic, so you don't have to if you don't want to, but could you recommend some holocaust literature? I've come to realize the representation of it in the media isn't always that great, and well, thought you might have an opinion
Absolutely!
Some websites:
Yad Vashem- The World Holocaust Remembrance Center.
United States Holocaust Memorial Museum
Some books written by or on behalf of Holocaust survivors:
"Lily's Promise: How I Survived Auschwitz and Found the Strength to Live", by Lily Ebert
"Man's Search for Meaning", by Victor Frankl
"The Redhead of Auschwitz", by Nechama Birnbaum on behalf of her grandmother, Rosie Greenstein
"Night", by Elie Wiesel
"A Gypsy In Auschwitz: How I Survived the Horrors of the ‘Forgotten Holocaust’", by Otto Rosenberg
"I, Pierre Seel, Deported Homosexual: A Memoir of Nazi Terror", by Pierre Seel
"The Daughter of Auschwitz: A Memoir", by Tova Friedman
"An Underground Life: Memoirs of a Gay Jew in Nazi Berlin", by Gad Beck
"The Diary of Éva Heyman," by Eva Heyman, published posthumously. She was murdered during the Holocaust.
"The Girl in the Green Sweater: A Life in Holocaust’s Shadow", by Krystyna Chiger
"A Teenager in Hitler's Death Camps", by Benny Grunfeld
Some books written about the Holocaust:
Encyclopedia of the Holocaust
Pharrajimos: The Fate of the Roma During the Holocaust
The Nazi Genocide of the Roma: Reassessment and Commemoration
Doctors Under Hitler
Toward the Final Solution: A History of European Racism
Crying Hands: Eugenics and Deaf People in Nazi Germany
The Nazi Connection: Eugenics, American Racism, and German National Socialism
Cleansing the Fatherland: Nazi Medicine and Racial Hygiene
The Pink Triangle: The Nazi War Against Homosexuals
Hitler’s Furies: German Women in the Nazi Killing Fields
The Suffering of the Roma in Serbia during the Holocaust
Mothers, Sisters, Resisters: Oral Histories of Women Who Survived the Holocaust
Films:
Survivors Testimony Film Series
Numbered
Secret Lives: Hidden Children and their Rescuers in World War II
Shoah
I Have Never Forgotten You: The Life & Legacy of Simon Wiesenthal
A People Uncounted
Media to avoid:
Historical fiction written by non-Romani, non-Jewish authors that focuses more on the Germans than on their victims. "Number the Stars" and "The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas" are the biggest offenders.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but I tried to make it as thorough as possible.

The persecution of he Roma and Sinti in the Netherlands.
The persecution of he Roma and Sinti in the Netherlands.
The biggest group of Holocaust victims were the Jews, an estimated6 million were murdered between 1933 and 1945. The second biggest group were the Gypsies (Roma and Sinti). During World War II, it is estimated that more than 500,000 Sinti and Roma from all over Europe were murdered by the Nazis in what has come to be known as the Porajmos. Before the Second World War, approximately 4,500 Sinti…

His fate contrasts with that of another, unrelated, Reinhardt, according to the 102-page study. Anton Reinhardt, a 17 year-old German Gypsy with a Swiss mother, swam the Rhine in 1944 and tried to claim asylum in Switzerland as a conscientious objector. He was expelled and later shot while trying to escape from a Nazi concentration camp.

a bit disappointed with my fellow jewish people on twitter, i'm seeing a bit too many tweets saying only jewish people can forgive wilbur. the holocaust targeted both jewish and roma people, we cannot contribute to the erasure of the attempted genocide against the roma.
(this post isn't about wilbur, but rather a call out of a continuous erasure of roma people)

If Germany was actually sorry about WWII and about the genocides they committed, they wouldn't be in favour of prostitution and they wouldn't be building brothels in which an overwhelming number of Romani women are being raped by men, beaten by men and called 'Gypsy whores' by their pimps and their johns. The legal and institutionalized mass raping of Romani women in German brothels just proves that torture and persecution carried by the German State on Romani women never stopped. The German men raping Romani women in brothels are just the same as their German grandfathers who did the same thing in concentration camps.

I am so sick of the phrasing that Germany is persecuting supporters of Palestine because the German government feels "guilty" for the Holocaust.
Germany uses its support for Israel to offset its atrocities on to Palestinians. It uses its support for Israel to muddy the waters on what is and isn't antisemitism and to arrest anti-Zionist Jews. It uses its support for Israel to persecute, police, and deport Palestinian and Muslim migrants and then offset its obvious racism and Islamophobia on to Jews.
Germany has never fully reckoned with the white German gentile supremacy that caused the Holocaust. It has never reconciled with Jews. It never fully acknowledges the colonial violence that preceded the Holocaust or the Romani victims of the Porajmos.
Germany is a white supremacist state. Germany is a police state. Germany is a deeply Islamophobic and antisemitic state. The German government is an antagonist to Palestinians, Muslims, and Jews alike. The German state can shove its crocodile tears for the destruction of European and North African Jewish life up its filthy asshole.

Eye witness accounts of the Porajmos
Porajmos – sometimes spelled Porrajmos or Pharrajimos – which means‘devouring’ or ‘destruction’ in some dialects of the Romani language, is the term for the Roma Sinti Holocaust during World War 2. It was introduced by Romani scholar and poiltical activist ,Ian Hancock, in the early 1990s. he chose to use the term, coined by a Kalderash Roma, from a number of suggestions which were given during…

The Swiss Special Fund for Needy Victims of the Holocaust decided on August 24, 1998 that only those Romani victims who were imprisoned in camps or under similar conditions during the World War II are eligible to apply to the Fund, despite previous statements that the Fund would give support to all persons who were persecuted for racial, religious, political or other reasons, and those who were in any other way victims of the Holocaust.

Not that it should be necessary, but like- as someone who’s family was seperated, destroyed and killed during the Porajmos-
y’all don’t get to use the Holocaust to make your points against Israel
“The second Holocaust” the Holocaust is a singular event. There was nothing like it. God willing, there will never be one again. The general term is genocide. The Holocaust, which encompasses the Shoah and the Porjmos, is not a general term.
Romani know. Our families have carried those loses, the traumas, the suffering. Just as Jewish families have. Romani and Jews are cousins in that pain.
you, you american, you gadje with your fancy Instagram graphics and clip art of girls drinking tea-
you do not get to take our singular pain and invert it against any of us
