a/n: this is definitely self-indulgence. There is BARELY anything for Musketeers, and I don’t know WHY. It was such a good show?! If you haven’t seen it, it’s on Stan (for Aussies).

“Yes! Porthos we know! Y/N is amazing, but please... just ... she’s all you ever talk about,” Aramis says with his arms in the air. (He’s not being dramatic, Porthos only talks about you, legitimately.) 

・Was a bit wary about your work but warmed up to you once you explained it. To me, Porthos gives off a bit of Himbo energy™

・Whenever there’s danger, he protects you with his whole body

     “Porthos, you’re squashing me-”

“Shhhh, there’s danger.” 

・You get along really well with Aramis. He’s a lively and funny man, who likes to tell the most embarrassing stories of Porthos

・You give him things to take when he’s away on assignments. Lavender to help calm and to sleep, a bay leaf in his jacket pocket, and a satchet of cloves. 

・He has a strong moral compass, and when the world gets too hard, he comes to you and falls apart. Porthos knows you’ll always be there to help put him back together again

・Knowing his background and where he came from. Enslavement and being a black man affects Porthos in his day to day life. You always want to hear if anyone has done anything to him. You will protect Porthos in every way you can. 

・Porthos always makes you feel safe, protected, and he gives you the space to be yourself. 

・You don’t hide anything from each other, and promise to be truthful. Secrets are what damage relationships. 

・Porthos can change your mood in an instant. He brings you out of so many slumps

・He isn’t as energetic as Aramis (who hates being still), but Porthos still likes to have adventures. However, if you do not wish to, then he’s happy just spending his time at home with you

・Porthos gets angry about the injustices he sees in his day-to-day life. But that’s the only time you see his temper rise. He has never yelled at you, never. He’s never slammed anything, or expressed his anger in physical ways. He’s never even made you jump (well he has, but that’s because he surprised you by coming home early). 

・He absolutely HATES spiders. Despises them. Thinks they’re creepy and will tell you to get rid of it. 

・Likes to share his food with you - feeding you absentmindedly, especially when the food is really good. 

・You never have to worry about Porthos straying. His loyalty is unending. 

・Bit of a crybaby when he’s wounded (only in front of you though. When the guys are around, he doesn’t flinch.) But he loves being coddled by you. 

・ You’re very good friends with Constance. She visits you often, especially when the men are away on an assignment. If they’re gone for multiple days, she may sleep over. 

・It’s often you, who the men come to when they need fixing up. You can help with sleeplessness, headaches, stitching up wounds, to popping shoulders back into place. 

・Your come from a low-class family, and doctors were too expensive, so all your neighbours either suffered or died. You wanted to help people, and so you learned as much as you could from anyone and everyone. 

・Some say you’re a witch, because you know so much. Or maybe it’s because you learned a lot from women

𝑯𝒊𝒔 𝑳𝒐𝒗𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒏𝒈𝒖𝒂𝒈𝒆:

All of them? 

Porthos is such a loving man. He’s so ready for love, he was just waiting for you to come along. 

𝐺𝑖𝑓𝑡 𝐺𝑖𝑣𝑖𝑛𝑔:  He absolutely adores getting you gifts (he brings tokens back from his travels.

𝑄𝑢𝑎𝑙𝑖𝑡𝑦 𝑇𝑖𝑚𝑒:  He loves spending all his free time with you, doing anything and everything; horseback riding, training, teaching you how to handle weapons (he always wants you to know as much as you can).

𝑊𝑜𝑟𝑑𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐴𝑓𝑓𝑖𝑟𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑖𝑜𝑛:  He loves telling you how much you mean to him, and he melts whenever he hears it back. When he’s away from you and missing you, he’ll pull out one of your scarfs and smell it, remembering how much you love him.

𝐴𝑐𝑡𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑆𝑒𝑟𝑣𝑖𝑐𝑒:  He will get you tools and supplies whenever you need it. Maybe he doesn’t know when you’re getting low, and you have to tell him, but he will go into town and fetch them willingly. 

𝑃𝘩𝑦𝑠𝑖𝑐𝑎𝑙 𝑇𝑜𝑢𝑐𝘩: Maybe this is his favourite love language. Porthos wants nothing in this world but you. To hold you in his arms, to play with your hair and smell your skin. He loves when you show him the same physical love back. The gentle caresses on his arm, the kisses, god, it’s all he needs in this world.

was taking some notes down on my copy of T3M last night, and was reminded that book!Aramis canonically writes poetry, so now I will be thinking of bbc!Aramis doing the same.

Some headcanons about it:

He started writing poems for Isabel when they were sappy horny teens in love. He'd write the sappiest, most flowery and romantic verses to her and recite them to her while they lay in his father's sprawling gardens in a field of flowers.

He stopped for a few years, after Isabel was taken away (as he thought) and he ran away from home, because it hurt too much to try. He started again a few months after meeting Porthos.

He wrote short verses for Porthos but never really showed them to him. Porthos found out accidentally and thought it was about one of Aramis' mistresses, which Aramis didn't correct because he was embarrassed.

He doesn't actually write poetry for his mistresses. Not even for Adele. He may quote poetry to them (Shakespeare for example) but he only writes his own about the people closest to his heart (Porthos and Athos, and later Anne). He's wrote a platonic one for Constance too! She keeps it tucked inside her favourite book.

He's super shy about reciting any of them out loud, or even showing them to the individual they're meant for (except Constance, because with her it wasn't romantic, so he felt way more comfortable).

He has an entire notebook filled with the most romantic, heart-aching, pining poems about Anne. He shows her only after he becomes First Minister, because he really thought those where the things he'd never be allowed to tell her.

Waxes poetic when he's drunk, and out of the four Inseparables, he has the lowest alcohol tolerance (yes, even lower than little d'Artagnan!), so it's... a spectacle.

There's something to be appreciated in book!Aramis being a stickler for etiquette: d'Artagnan did nearly cause trouble for a woman and, in the same incident, nearly got Aramis into terrible trouble, just by trying to be polite about the handkerchief thing. xD You know at least you could trust book!Aramis with your confidences. =) (I mean, he's still an utter disaster sometimes, all the same. xD)

That is a hundred percent sure, he's super secretive! Aramis has always been my favorite character because of his ambiguity really. On the one side, there is the etiquette, the secrecy, the self-chastising he deems necessarry bc of his weird religious fear. On the OTHER side, he makes nasty jokes about the queen's honor, turns into some sort of harpy when Porthos tells him off, fights two enemies at the same time without twitching and just his SMUGNESS when he fights with d'Artagnan over the tissue!! But whenever Athos is around, Aramis is a little different, more the shy sort (I always love it when Porthos makes fun of him then and Aramis basically shrinks to tinman size while Athos just smiles knowingly). It's just... he's so toooorn between doing what he thinks he should be doing and doing what he really likes and I will now not delve into all my thoughts on his sexuality BUT yes Aramis, precious Aramis, what a train wreck, really, total disaster just like you said. I don't know what sort of image he's trying to portray towards d'Artagnan to make it seem like he's superior - which he isn't that's the whole point - but he really needs to stop it, it's embarrassing :D (just thinking of the moment he wants to join the Jesuites or the moment he tells d'Art that he's turned i don't know 38 or something and d'Art is like: now hold on I am 38, this can't be possible :,D)

To sum my stream of consciousness thoughts up: Aramis notices that d'Art is superior to him, simply bc he doesn't try to be anything he's not. Athos loves this in d'Artagnan. And there are a hundred reasons why I think d'Art and Aramis can't stand each other, but Athos' love is in my opinion one of them. d'Art gets so much of it, basically taking over the role of the youngest of the group, and Aramis keeps his distance to him. (Only in d'Art's last ever line in the last book is the rivalry and disdain between them really acknowledged, it hit me so hard in the gut omg i googled for days afterwards trying to deal with the pain.)

Cursed Enterprise headcanon (maybe AU) cause my favourite series is now Enterprise and they're the closest to the 21st century so I can make millenial headcanons for them and it'd still be considered canon:

One time, Malcolm had the crew do archery for target practice and survival training. Ironically, the person who had the worst score was Archer

Archer lost Porthos this one time and he was depressed for an entire month. In a show of good will and friendship, T'Pol decided to make it her mission to find Porthos. She brought Archer the beagle back and he was so happy he cried and hugged her for an entire hour. 3 days later, Hoshi and Travis showed up with the real Porthos. Archer was left with one question; If that's Porthos, then who the fuck is the beagle that T'Pol brought? In the end, Archer gave up trying to figure it out and decided to adopt the other beagle

T'Pol was fascinated by the human custom of international communities discussion through means of forums as a way to recognize cultures. For her research, she signed up for Twitter. It was then she's convinced humans are fucking stupid

Trip had top surgery twice; First time when he transitioned and second time on his arm when he grew those nipples

Trip has spent most of his young adult life trying to lick his elbows. Nearly died twisting his neck one time

Malcolm had a Green Day phase and Trip laughs at him for it

Turns out, some of her mice are in Engineering having the feast of their lives (they're chewing on the cables). Trip nearly had an aneurysm while the entire Engineering crew were chasing multiple mice away with brooms

Hoshi's role model is Hatsune Miku

Travis' role model is also Hatsune Miku

Travis plays Roblox. One time he made a Roblox game based off the Enterprise but then the captain found out and told him to shut it down. Nobody even noticed that Archer himself plays Roblox

One creature that Phlox absolutely cannot stand is the Earth Wasp. During his first few days on Earth, he thought the wasp was a bee and tried to observe it but instead it stung him and he hasn't forgiven it

Phlox is a big fan of Scooby Doo and has spent years trying to find a talking dog. He still believes Porthos has the ability to speak but hides it

Hayes is a Brony. His favourite is Applejack

The Enterprise crew has a Minecraft server for everyone. The Engineers are the ones who built every structure in the server. The Science and Medical crew are the ones making farms and whatnot. Command crew are the ones mining. The Security crew logs in every now and then just to blow shit up and ruin everyone's day

The only time Harris regretted recruiting Malcolm to Section 31 was during his first solo mission and somehow Malcolm managed to bite a Starfleet security officer's fucking fingers off clean and Harris nearly had an aneurysm trying to do damage control

Shran tries to learn about human custom through their history since he's a firm believer that history is the door to the present. The next time he greeted Archer, he did a dab and Archer cried

Shran went to visit Earth as a show of diplomacy and for a date with Archer. Someone offered to give him more money if he gives them some money and he mistook that for weird human hospitality tradition. He got scammed

Duckvember - Crafty, Loved and Professional Duck (Ducks) - Donald Duck and The Three Musketeers - Daffy Duck as Scarlet Pumpernickel

I drew in a hurry and sorry I didn't get to add the background. Also just to say that I will be doing two more Duckvember related themes and that wraps up my drawings with this year's Duckvember.

I wanted to do this for a long time, but for some reason I didn't get around to doing it, but I want to do themes related to The Three Musketeers, one of my favorite pieces of literature that I've read, and I have some great ideas about it. Yes, the first drawing is a redraw from the cover of the book or comic called "Ducktargnan and the Three Musketeers" written by Guido Martina and drawn by Pier Lorenzo De Vita in 1957. Yes, even though this comic is a parody of the given piece written by Alexandre Dumas (The Elder, Not the Son), it's still good to see Donald fitting in as a musketeer (otherwise he's d'Artagnan, while his nephews Huey, Dewey and Louie are Athos , Porthos and Aramis). So I drew Donald the Musketeer sparring with his nephews also sparring. Yes, they are professional swordsmen, that is, professional musketeers. XD

The second and third drawings are related to Looney Tunes Daffy Duck from one of my favorite classic shorts called Scarlet Pumpernickel directed by Chuck Jones from March 4, 1950. Even though it was a parody of Baroness Orczy's novel called "The Scarlet Pimpernel", Daffy really enjoyed the role. So I drew Daffy along with my student Plucky Duck from Tiny Toons who also plays Scarlet Pumpernickel and wants to be just like Daffy. In my headcanon Plucky is Daffy's nephew. The next drawing is of Daffy as Scarlet Pumpernickel with the Lady Melissa he saved. By the way, it was recently Melissa Duck's birthday (December 1st) so I wish her a happy birthday. And I love this loving couple.

The following drawing is like a redraw of the scene from the 2004 movie "Mickey, Donald, Goofy: The Three Musketeers" where Daisy Duck ends up kissing Donald the Musketeer. Yes, Daisy plays lady-in-waiting and maid of honor for Queen Minnie, while Donald is a musketeer along with Mickey and Goofy. Even though it was a parody of the work of the same name by Alexandre Dumas and it was far from the original, I enjoyed the movie, and I love the love couple between Donald and Daisy who turned out great in that movie.

So...I watched the 1993 Three Musketeers movie last night and I had some brain rot. So, to all of my lost boys friends (especially @ghoulgeousimmaculate, who convinced me to publish this in the first place)...

THE LOST BOYS AS MUSKETEERS

Starting off easy...

DAVID AS ATHOS

The defacto leader of their group of misfits, I see David and Athos as parallels of each other and NOT just because they are both played by Kiefer Sutherland (although that definitely helped.)

Athos and David are both passionate men but they are very serious and stoic. Both have been hurt in the past and while I think Athos is definitely more of a romantic from what we see, David did have a love interest in the unmade Lost Boys prequel.

Athos also takes on a big-brother esque role to the other Musketeers, especially D'Artagnan. David is very much the 'big brother' of the boys if you consider them to be brothers, he's the leader and he is the one who (I think) tries to keep them in line when Max isn't there.

Athos is also a drinker and you cannot tell me that David probably doesn't enjoy a good drink from time to time rather than the blood. David is most definitely an alcohol snob.

DWAYNE AS ARAMIS

Aramis, much like Dwayne, is the hardest of the musketeers to get a read on to me. Maybe I think these two are similar because of the luscious hair.

I think the reason that I saw Dwayne and Aramis as similar are much to do with the fact that Aramis is a man who at his core is respectful, a lot more poetic and a lot more of a deeper thinker than the others, especially Porthos. We see that as much when they are talking about how they respectively woo girls, Porthos with kisses and Aramis with poetry and words of love. I personally always saw Dwayne as someone who could probably charm the pants off of anyone and I imagined him as being a silent film star before his turning (if we are making up our own backstories).

Aramis is also, arguably, the most respectful of the Musketeers. He reads final rites to those he kills (we see that in the fight with the Cardinal's guards) and he is less of a joker than someone like Porthos or even D'Artagnan. Something as simple as him being the one to encourage D'Artagnan to distribute the wealth among the poorer townsfolk when they rob the Cardinal's carriage.

Dwayne is very much a silent presence in the boys but with the way that the entire fandom headcanons him, he and Aramis have a lot in common. He's protective, he's loyal, he's an enforcer however he doesn't jump into fights for no reason, Dwayne is also a ladies' man (or at least he definitely used to be I think).

PAUL AS PORTHOS

I know Porthos and Paul are maybe the least similar in terms of looks but I think in terms of personality, these two have a lot in common.

Porthos is a drinker, Porthos is a player, Porthos enjoys a party and he is not afraid of a fight. If you look closely during the carousel scene in Lost Boys, Paul and Marko are the ones to first attack when the man goes for Dwayne. Paul and Porthos are both party animals who have probably engaged in more than one drunken brawl.

I think there is also a loyalty to Paul that we see in Porthos. Porthos always protects his Musketeer brothers and Paul goes to bat for the boys and others numerous times in the movie. if you read the final scene in the Emerson house in a certain way, Paul protects Laddie and Star from the Frog's, closing the door behind them and coming after the brothers, who were about to kill them.

Of course, Porthos also carries a lot of the humour of the movie and Paul is very much a joker. He is the light-hearted one of the boys it seems, he was the nicest according to Star in the novelisation and we see that he is also (along with Dwayne), the closest to Laddie, so context clues lead us to believe that he maybe one of the more fun boys to be around (not that they aren't all fun).

MARKO AS D'ARTAGNAN

This is something that Ghoulie can attest to but I messaged her yesterday saying that D'Artagnan in this movie reminded me of Michelangelo's David, or 'The Fallen Angel' by Alexandre Cabanel. Maybe this is partially the reason that I see him as a counterpart to Marko, the boy that looks like a renaissance painting come to life. It also helps that they both have a gorgeous head of curls.

This, in all honesty, was the easiest parallel for me. D'Artagnan is a young, roguish, reckless boy who doesn't always think before he acts and is very handsome and good with the ladies (and that's not me projecting, D'Artagnan literally has a guy after him because he 'romanced' his sister) (allegedly)

I just think he's very much like Marko. I always imagine that Marko was the youngest, even if he was turned before the other boys (I sometimes think Marko could have been a highwayman), I always see Marko as the youngest of the boys and considering D'Artagnan is the youngest of the Musketeers, I think it works.

Their reckless natures match each other well as well, Marko's most definitely does bike tricks like D'Artagnan does that thing with the horse where he jumps off and back onto it and they both run into danger. There's also a protectiveness though, a loyalty to those that they care about.

Headcanoning Porthos as Jewish because I can. Headcanoning Athos as a very enthusiastic Shabbos Goy who fell in love with the Jewish community Porthos is surrounded by and is just utterly thrilled to be able to provide service to these people who showed him love and kindness even though he wasn’t Jewish himself in whatever little ways he can.

Picturing Aramis coming to help out one day, dropping one end of a table, and loudly exclaiming “that’s it, I’m joining the church, I’m going to be a priest” in front of everyone. And the little old shul-goers share a laugh because Porthos always brings by the most endearing characters.

I really want to write or at least attempt to sketch a musketeers figure skating modern au but since it's not happening any time soon, here are some of my headcanons as a person who knows approximately nothing substantial about how figure skating works:

Treville is everyone's coach, of course.

the boys are all stars in the figure skating world along with Constance, Milady, Anne and Ninon. The ladies (except Constance) are being coached by Richelieu.

Richelieu is a retired star, Treville also retired early due to a serious injury.

Athos and Aramis almost exclusively do paired routines. Athos used to be partnered with Milady before they had a falling-out, which is how he ended up in Treville's group and she in Richelieu's.

Ninon gets dropped by Richelieu for reasons yet unknown, and while she doesn't officially join Treville's crew she does some routines with Athos.

Aramis' main partner is his best friend Constance. However, when he gets injured right before the season, she urgently has to seek and train with a new partner.

Enter: d'Artagnan! He gets scouted out by Treville in a local event and he decides his style fits Constance's a lot and that he can temporarily replace Aramis as her partner. Of course, d'Art sticks around even after Aramis is fit to skate again (and also he catches feelings for Constance, which Aramis can't stop teasing him about).

Porthos is primarily a solo skater, but after d'Artagnan joins, he practices some paired routines with Aramis. Now as far as I know, same-gender paired routines aren't really allowed in competitive figure skating, which can play out in a few different ways, but alas, this is getting long already.

Anyway, Anne comes in later when Louis, her husband and sponsor, gets to collaborate with Treville for a charity event. Anne, a big name in the female figure skating world, requests to collab with Aramis, since the latter is currently partner-less. Things get... heated on the ice! Drama ensues.

I have this very specific scene in my mind where Treville's group all go out for milkshakes and snacks after practice and they are very happy and cozy and they have fun, which is great. I love them your honour.

Savoy is much less tragic in this; it's just the competition in which Aramis got hurt, because he was distracted since his ex, Marsac, had just broken up with him.

The Court of Miracles is Porthos' old skating team (he was into team skating for a while), but he left because he wanted a fresh start and an independent career that didn't include him following orders. It's fine though, he's still friends with Charon and Flea, who now do paired routines!

Athos' brother didn't die nor assault Milady, they're just estranged because of family drama.

Red Hearts headcanons;

Her name isn't actually Red, that's just a nickname.

Her actual full name is Róisín Evangeline Hearts.

Her father is the king of Hearts.

Her favorite colors are pink and red.

She has brown eyes and black hair with red streaks.

She's been nicknamed 'Red' since she was a little kid because of her extreme love for the color.

Red has a nack for getting herself (and her friends) in and out of trouble.

She has been described as rebellious, troublesome, and whip-smart.

She loves elaborate dresses but also loves a nice, simple, comfy outfit from time to time.

Red loves provoking her mother against her older brother, Hardy's, wishes because she knows she'll never gain her approval.

She loves pulling pranks, playing cards, solving mysteries, and ghost hunting.

She has a card symbol choker necklace with matching earrings.

She usually travels with a playing card hoverboard.

Red's weapon of choice is a flamingo croquet mallet.

Her favorite holiday just so happens to be Chloe's least favorite and that's Halloween. She likes it because no one looks at her weird and Chloe hates it because of the dragons.

Red also enjoys acting, musicals, croquet, and poetry.

Red and Hardy both inherited their mother's temper. She's just better at hiding it than he is.

She is also a big fan of unbirthday cakes, princessy stuff, and roses.

She doesn't get along that well with her mother or her father who she thinks is spineless but she still loves them.

Trials bore her.

Red met Chloe when they were 10 after the barrier was brought down and they instantly became bestfriends.

She swore to Chloe that she'd help her find Chad after he disappeared and never gave up on it.

Eventually, they somehow managed to drag Danny Darling, Maddox Hatter, and Hadie into it and even convinced the Badun Detective Agency and the other protégés to give them a hand occasionally.

She is 18 by the time the events of the pocketwatch occur.

Flamingos are her favorite animal and eventually Chloe gets her one as a pet.

Red made herself a toy back on the isle that she named 'Ace'. It was made with a card, goggly eyes and glue.

Red and her brother help out at her mom's salon.

Red's mother use to be (and may still be) a teacher at Dragonhall.

Her favorite sport is foul ball.

She doesn't take Hadie or his 'minions' seriously because she doesn't really believe their evil.

She gets along with him and his friends just fine though.

She also gets along great with Danny.

She gets along fine enough with Ally despite their differences.

Red's favorite bands are The Bad Apples and The Dragon Slayers but cannot stand The Sorcerer's Appertinces or Aladdin and the Lamps.

She loves Heavy metal and rock music.

Her favorite social media is InstaRoyal.

Her favorite candy is licorice.

Her least favorite class is Remdial goodness and Ethics.

Red has nearly been kicked out of the School Newspaper writing team and the debate team several times for making people uncomfortable. For bluntly stating the truth.

She also has a sister named 'Quinlynn'.

Also despite their vastly differing appearances, the three of them are (despite popular belief) full-blooded siblings. Genetics are just werid sometimes.

i really get the need to know how the three musketeers met across adaptations but i ESPECIALLY need to know how they met in the 2023 version, because they have good friendship chemistry but they're so far apart in age that it's like HOW are these three guys best friends. how did depressed, grey-haired 2023 athos start hanging out with super-chill 2023 porthos who looks like he could be his son??

I have the feeling that I've already answered this, but it is still in my boîte so maybe I haven't O.o ANYWAY!! The thing is, the musketeers are very far apart agewise in the books as well. :-) So the Athos of 2023 is actually a very good choice. ;) Though he would most likely look more like this by book II but OKAYYY we can't have EVERYTHING. ^^ Book I: Athos = 30, Porthos = about 26/27 and Aramis = 21. :-) So the age gaps are real!! Aramis and Porthos are rarely represented accordingly tho... but okay. ^^ So I have been asking myself this question of HOW DID THEY MEET for years and years and years and I have this really really cool headcanon - which doesn't make a lot of sense tho considering other things that happened in book!canon - that Aramis is in some sort of clerical boy school and flees while the group of boys crosses the road and the red guard tries to stop him but he is too quick and too agile and they can't catch him (it's like the beginning of the Prince of Persia movie really ^^) and Athos watches this and is impressed and eventually helps Aramis escape and takes him under his wing... but yeah really doesn't make a lot of sense. ^^ As for Porthos, I suppose he was just loud and boisterous and funny and basically chose Athos - this grumpy dude - as his friend before they met Aramis. And Athos went with it, bc - as has already been pointed out - he's soft. :-) I don't have a really really really good headcanon for Aramis that works well but I can imagine that it went pretty much the same way: lil emo dude with religious guilt in his every veine sitting in the corner, scribbling poems in his lil notebook despite being in full armor and Porthos just sneaks over and asks "What you writing, mon petit?" which is followed by an Aramis death glare and a quick "Rien!" and Porthos acts unbothered by it, before he basically starts battling Aramis for life to get this stupid letter and Aramis is screaming and biting and hissing and this is how they became friends. Athos just lazily watches this encounter and when they stop fighting, he just smiles at Aramis and introduces himself and this is when Aramis blushes like crazy and falls undeniably for Athos. So you see I could invent you scenarios all evening long. ^^

Quesh World Mission/IA Minor Spoilers:

Moff Dracen gives the player a mission to invade the Three Houses' palace by fighting through the frontlines, or rely on the Hutt's inside-man to smuggle you in and skip the heavy fighting-- by taking a Quesh adrenal and being smuggled inside unconcious. To me, this wasn't so much a choice at all: die charging souped-up Republic commandos or go the sneaky route and infiltrate.

However, since this is Eight we're talking about, this is where it all goes wrong for him.

Especially since this is the same planet that manufactures the serum for Castellan restraints.

Instead of going through Nine's version of events, the Moffs were given the extra task of innoculating Eight with one of the first prototypes for the IX Serum. Easy enough, given that Dracen gave him a choice between life and death on an important mission where he has to take it.

Norvaan Kel was blackmailed into doing so, but the Republic discovered Portho's plan conveniently right as he was smuggled inside, and I definitely think the Chevin betrayed him and tipped them off in return for safety from the warring Hutt Houses and at the same time, informed the Republic about the Castellan Restraints. Albeit unknowingly, as he was only given sparse information about the strange adrenal but the tip was intriguing enough that the SIS investigated and was able to uncover the Empire's secret brainwashing program a little later, hence why they decided to use Cipher Nine at the timing of their class story instead of earlier as the serum would have been perfected by then.

Ironically, Eight also is the one who allows the Empire to seize a good chunk of the venom mines on Quesh and in turn the deposits of dimalium-6 by doing this world mission, so you could say this was an extreme precursor to the events of Imperial Agent if you headcanon this world mission as taking place prior to the brainwashing operations.

I also headcanon that since he received an early prototype of the Castellans it had a few design flaws/failed several instances of activation, so it's still technically running through him, but rather unpredictably. Wink wink. I'll have to brainstorm on that more.

Quesh has a lot of foreshadowing to the serum since AFAIK it's the only planet that has that much direct influence to the class story in the agent's, but it gets me so excited. I'm surprised it was that good considering Quesh is the WM everyone groans at bc it's partially mandatory (and now I understand why) before everyone forfeits it and skips it entirely.
