"Unfortunately, greenwashing seems to be a trend that’s here to stay. Companies are constantly coming up with new and brilliant ways to tell us lies. One of the best things people can do to protect themselves from these corporate cons is to get familiar with recent greenwashing examples. Awareness of the tricks they use can help you spot other talented greenwashers more easily, so let’s take a look at some greenwashing lowlights from the last couple of years.
Innocent: insincere TV adverts
Keurig: misleading recycling claims
Ikea: accredited illegal logging
Windex: misleading plastic packing claims
H&M: insincere sustainable fashion claims
Hefty: false representation of the product
Ryanair: false low-emissions claims
Quorn: unverifiable carbon-footprint claims
Shell: gaslighting of the general public
Unilever: unclear environmental claims
HSBC: misleading climate ads"

“We need to build things that will last 50-100 years that will be resilient to these climate changes.”
"Met Éireann has also presented its latest data in relation to driving rain. Wind-driven rain against a wall may be partially absorbed or penetrate through cracks in the wall, therefore increasing the risk of damage to the building fabric. It is particularly prevalent in homes built in the west of Ireland.
“The current building standards use driving rain in their calculations of what blocks to use and in what construction methods to use in different parts of the country, but that data is 20 years old give or take,” he said."

as if the military doesn’t release adds that look like fucking video games. As if the military doesn’t depend and prey on people’s need for a higher education just to secure a somewhat better paying job, by handing out scholarships to anyone who joins. As if the military doesn’t come into our schools, and quite literally try to indoctrinate minors- Y’know the people who you claim you’re trying to protect.

As natural disasters become more common, my advice to you is to plan. Have an emergency plan. Have emergency supplies. Have an emergency escape route. Flash floods, forest fires, hurricanes, everything is going to be worse and happen more frequently.
As someone who's been in a flashflood and read plenty of first-hand accounts from recent disasters, the number one shock is abandonment. The state will not help you. If 911 even answers your call they'll tell you there's nothing they can do. There will be no cops or firefighters. If youre lucky the Red Cross will show up a few weeks afterwards and offer you a few hundred bucks. But when the disaster is occurring, you are on your own and you need a plan.
Be ready to help yourself and your neighbors. Stay safe.

Inspired by how easy and good in three days I organized a writing sprint, today I started a sprint writing and reading on lectures about climate change and ecological urbanization. Walks through articles, reading 'the climate book', making notes, going deeper and enjoy, honestly!

I've begun dreaming about large open water again (swimming in it, trying to avoid it, being afraid of it, in a boat on it, using diving gear in it, building a crude raft in it, jumping from cliff to cliff as the level rises, monsters hiding in it, it generally being an important element and source of major anxiety)

it never ceases to amaze me and freak me out how The Modern World ™ is built up in spite of nature i.e. cities constructed on cliffsides, suburbs draining wetlands, humans gravitating to settlements on waterways and coastlines; constructing elaborate social/economic structures in spite of/in exploitation of nature, which do not account for nature. and then nasty weather hits and we’re all still stuck facing the material world! water has to go somewhere so metal rusts and concrete cracks, rot sets in anywhere that wood gets damp. Billions Of Dollars Of Economic Damages, whether it’s literally just the expected climate of the region or wild unpredictable effects of climate change. weather is so powerful.

SO
UK PEOPLE: The new EAS phone alarm is not a Bad Thing!!!!
I keep seeing many articles abt how to turn it off and how people don't want it and stuff but the fact we have a phone EAS is a GOOD THING!
Warnings Save Lives!
I scrolled past this headline this morning:
You shouldn't want to do this. The government isn't (for once) being stupid. We need eas now because climate change!
The wildfires in The Heatwave? So many interviews on the news from people who lost everything said that the first they saw the fire was the bottom of their gardens because the didn't know about it. More areas of the UK are and will be prone to flash flooding. Storm systems are getting way way worse, and because the jet streams getting wigglier, can get "stuck" bettween two throughs and therefore the storm lasts waaay longer. Who knows what else climate change will do to the UK but for the sake of common sense Do Not Turn EAS Off. Please
I get it. Unexpected Loud Noise Scary. I have Audio Processing Disorder so I really do understand. Don't wanna be surprised by an EAS warning?
Pay attention to the weather! Even if it's just following the Met Office on Twitter (yuck). Tapping on a weather warning on the met office website and scrolling down to see exactly what's expected.
Loud Noise Scary but even scarier is the prospect of people being killed by a severe weather event that they could have saved themselves from if they knew it was happening.
Don't turn off your eas

"This warming has driven widespread and rapid global changes, including sea level rise and climate extremes — resulting in widespread harm to lives, livelihoods and natural systems.
It’s increasingly clear that vulnerable people in developing countries — who have generally contributed little to greenhouse gas emissions — are often disproportionately affected by climate change.
Intergenerational inequities are also likely. A child born now is likely to suffer, on average, several times as many climate extreme events in their lifetime as their grandparents did."

WOMEN AND CLIMATE CHANGE
Investing in their education, training, and access to resources is imperative to empower women in climate action. Equipping women with knowledge and skills in sustainable agriculture, water management, and clean energy generation can mitigate the adverse effects of climate change on livelihoods.
Initiatives like the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA) in India, which educates women farmers on adapting to shifting climate patterns, exemplify the positive impact of such investments.
The article regarding the topic of WOMEN AND CLIMATE CHANGE is written by Rishabh and the it is reviewed by our extremely qualified and experienced faculty Dr. Bijendra Jha.
