Taking a break from brainstorming and writing my WxS + ensemble fic by thinking rezero thoughts and how much I love SubaEmi & SubaRem both in and outside of romantic context because their relationship is so much more than that.

I remember back when the first season aired there's an 'I love Emilia' meme going around before I even knew rezero (I watched it in 2017 iirc). And when I finally watched it, I didn't really get why people at that time is mad at Subaru for not saying 'I love Rem' lol.

First of all, Rem is the one who rejected Subaru's proposal first. She knows that Subaru doesn't love her that way, and that something scared him so much that he chose to run away other than fight. She confessed not to get Subaru saying 'I love you' to her (although she kinda wished he would), but it's more about showing Subaru that there's someone that would love him and always be by her side no matter what--her.

And Subaru answered Rem's genuine love confession with the genuine truth--that he still loves Emilia. Because he knew that saying anything else but the truth will dishonor Rem's feelings. Rem falls in love with the Subaru who tries so hard for everyone and everything, including for Emilia's love. Actually, I like this scene because it shows how loyal Subaru is?? Even in his weakest moment, even when there's a girl that's so passionate about her love to him, his feelings for Emilia is still going strong. And I hate that a lot of viewers don't appreciate that dedication. Like damn, where can I find a guy as loyal as Subaru??

And not all anime-only knows this, but Subaru actually, truly, loves with Emilia because of the lap pillow in Arc 2. Sure, he fell in love at first sight when she saved him in the beginning of Arc 1 (also because she's physically his type), but it's only a bud--a crush. There's even a whole paragraph that's basically about Subaru realizing 'oh, I love her' at the end of the pillow scene in the light novel (ps. the ln is great btw). Just think about it, at that time, Subaru was terrified of being hated and betrayed again by everyone, everything he did ended in mistakes and he couldn't even tell anyone about his trauma---and then there's Emilia, who doesn't know or even able to understand, and yet she lent him her lap and a willing pair of ears to listen to his cries---showing Subaru that he's not alone in that world. For Subaru, he knew Emilia for more or less two weeks, but for Emilia, she only knew Subaru for more or less a day. Like, who wouldn't fall for her gentleness??

(And Rem did kill Subaru in cold blood and tortured him so I think it's weirder that Subaru forgave Rem, but that's Subaru for you ig. His super low self-esteem makes him has the mentality of 'as long as I know you have a shred of kindness in you, I can forgive you, even if you betray my trust, torture me, and kill me without remorse lol'

Btw, iirc in arc 7 he had a monologue where he said he still got shivers every time he heard the sound of chains--his trauma from Rem's torture will probably never go away).

So yeah, anime-onlies argument about 'Subaru's love to Emilia doesn't make sense' becomes moot if they actually have the context from the ln. But I didn't even have the context from the ln when I watched Ep. 18 the first time and I still understood why Subaru said 'I love Emilia' just fine, so... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Funny thing is that there's a scene in ln where Subaru admitted to both Rem (in Arc 3 before the White Whale battle) and Emilia (in Arc 4 on the carriage to Sanctuary) where he said that he also loves Rem. Again, understandable, because who wouldn't fall for Rem after her heartfelt confession?? And I appreciate how Subaru think that he's such a scum for liking two girls at the same time and thought that Emilia and Rem should know of his two-timing feelings. Rem is... well, she's kinda obsessed so she said that she's okay being the 2nd wife (but by the way Arc 7 goes I think she wouldn't be in the future), and the kind and gentle Emilia basically saying 'yeah, you suck' but she also said that she understood that Subaru and Rem had a history that she didn't know of so she couldn't fully judge Subaru for that.

Of course, then in Arc 6 Emilia said that she knew Subaru would be occupied with Rem when she woke up, so Emilia needed to work harder to make Subaru look her way... And then in Arc 7 Rem lost all her memories (which I think will tie in to Rem's own character development so she could live for herself, not for Ram or Subaru).

And also, why didn't anyone mention how strict Rem is to Subaru? In Arc 3 she basically said 'don't you dare run away from your trouble because I'm here', and in Arc 6 she's basically pissed at Subaru for giving up and not being able to stand up lol. Heck, in Arc 4 Subaru said to the witches that Rem is the strictest person ever to him because she wouldn't let him give up... and somehow it turned into a hero complex which is also addressed in Arc 7... although I think Arc 7 just made his hero complex worse... On the other hand, Emilia is gentle towards Subaru. In the Arc 4 light novel, when she realized how distressed Subaru was she put Subaru's ears against her chest so Subaru could hear her steady heartbeat to calm him down. In Arc 6, Emilia's (almost-)confession to Subaru was so soft even though all the chaos, and then when they fell she embraced him in such a way so she would fall to the ground first??? Even though there's no way they would survive that fall??? I'm so sorry, I'm so soft for that scene. Not to say that Rem wasn't gentle, but where Emilia would say 'it's okay for Subaru to rest', Rem wouldn't let him.

And and his narration in Arc 4 of his feelings for Rem and Emilia when he talked to his dad---Emilia is his light, and Rem is his sky--and how he couldn't live without both... that passage is so *chef's kiss*

And I haven't say anything about how their love for each other (and other people, in Subaru's case) is also a catalyst for them to love themselves...

Rezero is about love, and there are many forms of love. Romantic, platonic, familial, self-love, etc. ... The writer isn't wrong by calling it a heartwarming story.

Did you know that "fujoshi" is actually considered a slur in Japan when used as an insult? It was created by homophobic incels on 2chan to refer to any woman who likes or supports gay male content because it makes women "unfit for marriage" if they support gay people in any capacity, including in fiction. It has been reclaimed by many women, but using "fujoshi" as an insult just plays right into the hands of homophobic misogynist asshats and reenforces its use as a slur, not to mention that it was NEVER meant as "women who fetishize gay men" because that's not what a fujoshi is

I thiiink that most of you didn't read what I said in my original post said, which is that I hate fujoshis in western fandom because my experiences with them have literally all been extremely negative, while I have zero beef with those in eastern fandom. I thought I made it pretty clear that I was talking only about said experiences in western fandom, but oh well. Here we go.

1.) In my post on it I explicitly said that I have no issue against Japanese people using the term because for them it's just...a term. It's not a red flag. But when someone who is not Japanese is using it- and I know for a goddamn fact that a good chunk of the self-identified fujoshis I've had bad experiences with weren't Japanese- then THAT is when it becomes a red flag. That's why I said 'white men calling themselves 'otaku' is a warning sign while Japanese people just using their native language is not' in my original post- because that's been my experience with western fujoshis as well

2.) I didn't use the term as an insult nor ever would, I was insulting western non-Japanese fans who call themselves fujoshis because they have been disproportionately awful people who have sent my friends death threats and have engaged in other forms of harrassment in the past.

3.) I never said that fujoshi = 'person who likes rape/incest/etc', I just mentioned that in my personal experience, western fans- especially western fans that call themselves fujoshis- tend to be awful people, while on the eastern side it's civil. Idk how to tell you this but there tends to be a schism in fandom between east/west, and east is always more civil than west. That's why I kept clarifying 'western fandom' over and over and over again. Because Japanese fans don't do that shit and I admire them for it.

4.) Me talking negatively about a group that has harassed me and people I care about- to the point of death threats and forcing some, including me, to leave the fandom or stop going on the internet- is not me sucking up to white people. It's me holding a grudge against actual white people who are appropriating a term not used for them and have the personalities that match that kind of person.

Anyways all the luck to Japanese women and eastern fans who are trying to cleanse the terms from the awful shit that others have done, but that still doesn't reduce my negative experiences with non-Japanese western fans that made me hate it in the first place. I'll make sure to clarify that it wasn't Japanese fans in the future.

I'm so mad right now and I need to rant. I know I should get over it, but I literally can't. It's so annoying to meet hxh fans in real life.

I'm buying bit by bit the volumes of yu yu hakusho and hunter x hunter (level e is not available in my country), and reading them (again). I got volume 28 and took some photos of some panels that I liked and shared them as a collage in my story. It looked nice, I liked it and I am really happy that I finally got it. The thing is that a friend I haven't properly talked to for I don't know how long saw my story and realized that I liked hxh. We started talking, but damn, I don't regret sharing what I bought, but why are people like this? This is the second time it happens to me (third time if I include a non-fan but knows hxh): everytime someone hears that I like togashi's work, they start complaining about the popular hiatus (as if he's the only mangaka who does that). I so prefer to meet the guys who act all surprised everytime I go to buy a hxh volume in the comic book store. At least they try to make a conversation about the story and just ask me about my favorite character.

My conversation with this guy started with him just complaining about how togashi doesn't continue the story and he should leave it to someone else but he's too proud and blablabla. I tried to be sympathetic since he seems to be a fan of his work from years ago, but I did defend togashi a whole lot (he said I should stop defending him but never in my life I would do such a thing). I find it awful how some fans still put so much pressure on togashi to continue hxh when we know about his condition. And to just leave the story to someone else? It's clear that those people haven't done anything close to a story to say that.

I literally already made peace with the fact that I don't need an ending. As a fan, of course I want to know how it ends. But also as a fan, I don't want him to sell his soul to the devil only to know the ending.

And something I said to this guy was that he should make his own ending, I have mine and I will throw it away when hxh ends. It was literally a joke to lighten up the situation and it wasn't even something to focus on because in between I was saying other things. And he literally focused on that and said "don't let it be fujoshi" (used as an insult) and I'm here like: are we back into the 2000s and nobody told me?

3. We didn't even speak about any kind of ships, what are you trying to say?

4. Are you sure you know what type of story you're reading?

I'm so tired of these kind of people. While living my life outside of the Internet and just being in my corner of the fandom living the great life, I tend to forget that they still exist and there are people who still act like this. What annoys me the most is that literally, they don't know what type of story they're reading. They like to say they like hxh because they know it's good and it gives you some kind of "status" within the anime community because togashi is a really good mangaka and someone who influenced a lot of people within the manga community. Without him, shonen as a genre wouldn't be the same. But then, they also choose to ignore what they don't like about his work, like the queer elements. It's highly known that togashi loves to play with gender and sexuality, but that's only a fact for them when they find it convenient. If you don't like it, don't watch/read it, but it's ignorant and blatant stupid to just act as if it's not there and talk shit about other people only because it's uncomfortable to you. And I'm not even saying that everyone should analyze the story, some people just like to enjoy it and move on with their lives and some others don't know how to analize it, but one thing is that and another thing is just to close off to the possibility when it's clearly there. But of course, the others are sick, not them who are clearly homophobic and don't want to admit it. They should ask themselves why do they get so mad about the possibility of two kids being together romantically and just work on themselves. What's worst is that this guy even said to me he likes NANA and I don’t want to know what kind of interpretation he has because DAMN

To be honest, sometimes I'm a bit surprised about how well togashi seems to know the anime community, but of course he does, he's being a fan for how long now and he's being a mangaka for how long. And I so hope he keeps trolling because DAMN these people are annoying

The worst part is that these fans wouldn't even be friends with togashi or wouldn't like him as a fan because togashi really does look like the type of fan they would hate. Togashi likes BL, mpreg, obscure stories, horror (body horror even) and science fiction (both genres who allow and are known for queerness), he used to make doujinshis (even in an era that was even more bad looked upon than now), he likes to draw bishonen characters (even in a time which was more common to see buff characters in shonen), he drew gender-bender designs of kurama and hiei, he included a homoerotic art of kurama and karasu (a friend made it for him i think) in his doujinshi, he wanted to make a shonen with gay characters and crossdressing and the list goes on and on. He likes so many things that these others fans are disgusted by and it really looks like they don't know who they are admiring. The reason why ending D got so much negative attention when it came out is because it doesn't sound believable that a mangaka like togashi himself, the same person who made level e and is constantly worried of making an interesting story, would make such a bland and heteronormative ending in a story like hxh no less.

They should just shut up and go do their homework instead, they look ridiculous.

Theory/headcanon/observation(s):

I totally agree with the fandom that Pheonix would openly love Legally Blonde. However, I think Miles would secretly love it more after Pheonix forces him to watch both the movie and musical, but only deny his love for it because the song "Gay or European" calls him out too much and he feels offended by that. How DARE a song from a musical based on a movie call him out like that in front of his dearest-childhood-friend-totally-not-first-love-now-turned-husband and their adopted children like that!?!

I feel like even the homophobes can see Miles Edgeworth has the vibes of a bitter old gay man, but this prosecutor is so far in the closet that his shipping address is Narnia

How can anyone say Wrightworth isn't legit/canon? They're either a bickering old married couple or a newly divorced couple that's too proud to admit they still love each other and want to get back together. You cannot convince me otherwise. Either way they still always find things to argue about, but end up aggressively making out in a violent and heated passion then(if divorced) just as aggressively deny that they ever locked lips.

FOR CONTEXT: I watched the Game Grumps do a let's play of it and I'm currently playing through the Trilogy game(s(?)*) on the Switch and know bits and pieces through repeating themes in fan-made content. (I also want to watch the anime but haven't decided if I should finish playing before starting.)

* I'm still not fully used to how the story is structured like a book series, but I'm close. I'm at around 90% used to it. Like I understand it in my head but when I need to put it into actual words it makes my brain hurt.

Christmas w/ Cyno

Genre: Fluff, mild smut

Warning: I made reader and Cyno agnostic even though Christmas is a christian holiday because I don't want to force the religion onto either of them. Most people I know treat it just like any other holiday, not a christian one specifically, so that's how i'll be treating it. Also there's some mild smut nothing much just dry humping and stuff :p

Character(s)/Reader: Cyno and Male Reader

The snow fell to the ground as you and Cyno took the groceries to his car. You could see him shivering from the cold and felt a pang of guilt in your chest. You knew he wasn't used to the cold, but you needed help getting food for Christmas dinner. You loaded up his car as fast as you could and hopped in after putting the basket away. You turned to face your boyfriend, grabbing his hands and warming them up with yours.

"I'm sorry baby, I know you haven't gotten used to the cold." You whispered as you held his hands in yours and planted soft kisses on his cheeks.

"It's okay my love, no need for apologies. I enjoyed helping you." He reassured, returning one of your kisses. You smiled and sat back in your seat, buckling up so you both could get to your warm home.

Your shared home came into view as Cyno drove. Once he parked, you put the groceries in your house as fast as you could. Neither of you wanted to stay out in the cold any longer.

"Can you turn on the heater? I'm going to prepare dinner." You asked as you took off your scarf and gloves.

"Already on it babe." Cyno said, shivering from the cold as he fidgeted with the heating. Cyno turned it a little on the cooler side since he wanted to have the fire place going too.

Soon after it had gotten a bit warmer, Cyno took off some layers and started to help you prep. You were going to teach Cyno what you and your family usually had for Christmas dinner, since he hadn't celebrated before. His parents are part of a different religion, so growing up Cyno went along with whatever his parents did. Though, now Cyno doesn't really have a religion he's part of. You don't either, but your family has always celebrated Christmas, so you do too. You wanted to share some Christmas traditions with Cyno since they were important parts of your childhood. He found it interesting, and was more than willing to give the whole cheesy Christmas thing a try.

You both put the meat in the oven and put the prepared things to the side. The meat took the longest, so you both could relax for a bit. You decided to make hot cocoa for you both and put on a Christmas movie. Cyno watched as you made the hot cocoa and carefully grabbed the steaming hot cup out of your hands once you were finished. He took a sip and hummed, making you feel proud of yourself.

You put on a random Christmas film and cuddled on the couch with Cyno. He seemed to like the film so far, focused on it as he held you in his arms. Though in reality, he wasn't as focused on it as you thought. There wasn't a problem with the movie, he was just too focused on you. He couldn't help but stare at you and think about how lucky he is to have an adorable and generous boyfriend. He just had to give you a gentle kiss on the cheek.

"What was that for?" You asked, smiling at him.

"I just wanted to." Cyno said as he looked into your eyes. Your attention shifted from the movie to your boyfriend, as you felt the tension between you two build. Cyno was impatient though, and went straight in for the kiss. Your lips moved in sync as you felt yourself getting lost in him.

Cyno moved so he was hovering over you, still kissing you deeply. He held himself up as he started to move his hips, clothed dick rubbing against yours. You started to follow his lead and move your hips against his, moaning softly into the kiss. You pulled away and kept desperately humping against him, feeling yourself get flustered as he groaned.

"Cyno- f-fuck." You whined as you tried to get his attention.

"Yes baby?" He panted softly, cupping your face with his right hand.

"Th-the timer." You stuttered.

"What?"

"The timer i-is going off- we have to make the food-" You explained quickly. Cyno shot up as he finally started to hear the timer and got off the couch to go into the kitchen. You quickly got up and followed right behind him.

You checked on the meat and saw that it was okay, and started to get your prepped ingredients. It was important you made the rest of the food around this time so it would all be done at the same time, meaning you guys will have hot and fresh food. Though, you and Cyno were both still very turned on so it made focusing on dinner a bit difficult.

You guys both eventually calmed down and continued making dinner. You instructed Cyno on what to do and even taught him how to chop some vegetables. Cyno felt so happy doing this with you. It was so intimate, it made him feel like he was special. Special because you're sharing something from your childhood with him.

A few hours passed by and you both were finally done with dinner. You and Cyno placed all the food on the table, making it look like the perfect feast. It was a lot of food, you both definitely wouldn't finish it tonight, but that didn't matter. You both sat down and put some food on your plates. Cyno grabbed his fork and picked up some food, putting it into his mouth. His eyes lit up as the flavors spread across his tongue.

"This is delicious (Name)." Cyno says with a smile. Your heart skipped a beat from his kind words as you felt yourself get a bit embarrassed. You whispered a small thank you before you continued eating. Cyno just smirked at you, and continued to eat the delicious food you both prepared.

You wiped off your mouth as you finished up your 2nd plate, watching as Cyno ate his 3rd helping. You laughed as a bit of food dropped onto his plate from his fork.

"Slow down Cyno, you might choke." You teased, earning a glare from him in return. You started to clean up and put the food away as Cyno finished his meal, making him frown. He picked up his now empty plate and took the dish sponge from your hand.

"I'll clean." He said as he picked up from where you left off.

"You don't have to Cyno." You tried to take the sponge back, but he moved it out of your reach.

"It's only fair, you did most of the cooking." He pointed out as he scrubbed a pot. You wrapped your arms around his waist, resting your chin on his shoulder.

"Can I at least help dry them then?" You asked softly. Cyno stopped scrubbing and glanced at you for a few seconds before letting out a small sigh.

"Fine." He said, finally giving in and going back to the dishes. You smiled and gave him a kiss on the cheek before grabbing a towel.

Finally, the clean up was done. You guys decided to finish the movie from before, so there you were. You guys were snuggled up against each other as you continued the film.

"Cyno." You muttered as you gave him a squeeze. He turned his head toward you and hummed in question, pulling you closer to him. You held him tighter before pulling him into a soft kiss, feeling his lips move against yours perfectly.

"Merry Christmas Cyno." You whispered once you pulled away.

"Merry Christmas (Name)." He whispered back before kissing you again, this time more passionately. He smiled as he felt you melt into the kiss.

He wouldn't mind doing this every Christmas.

If you aren’t aware, the term ‘fujoshi’ literally means rotten girl. It is used by girls who consume yaoi/bl content. They are calling themselves ‘rotten’ or ‘sinful’ for enjoying gay content. This is an issue, and if you are in fact capable of critical thinking I’m sure you can see why.

I want to be entirely clear with this: I do not have an issue with girls/non-mlm consuming mlm content. That is not a problem AT ALL. There are a lot of really good mlm stories and character out there and they should be appreciated. The issue comes when non-mlms start writing or romanticizing awful, abusive relationships in fiction just because it’s mlm. The biggest example of this I can think of is Killing Stalking, a mlm webtoon that showcased an absolutely horrid relationship.

It also becomes an issue when these non-mlm fujoshi (or whatever version of the term they decide to use) start carrying this mlm obsession over into the real world. There are countless stories of mlms being asked if they’re a ‘uke’ or a ‘seme’ after revealing their relationship or sexuality. There are hundreds of accounts of non-mlms obsessively shipping boys from their schools just because it’s gay and they think they’re so quirky and silly and goofy for it. Shipping real people is weird. Shipping real people just because it’s gay is weirder.

You should not be proud to call yourself a ‘rotten girl’ for liking mlm ships. Viewing mlm ships and people solely as a twisted form of entertainment is not support or allyship.

And if you’re a trans/non-binary/gender-questioning/etc person who’s using mlm content to explore your own gender and sexuality, that is okay! There’s nothing wrong with using content to figure that out because again, there is nothing wrong with non-mlms consuming mlm content as long it isn’t only harmful content or you aren’t bothering real people with it.

I can’t stress that point enough. Consume and create all the kinds of content you like! mlm content isn’t solely for mlm people! That being said, if you find an account that’s labeled as mlm only, don’t be an asshole and respect that. Some places are simply meant for support and as safe spaces. Just don’t cross any boundaries, don’t romanticize toxic and abusive relationships, and leave real people alone. And for the love of the stars, don’t call yourself a ‘rotten girl’ for enjoying mlm content or refer to your favorite mlm ship as ‘sinful.’ That’s just all kinds of harmful.
