I've never made one of these before but I tried... These actually take a long time to make... I probably forgot someone. Also made one for the ranchers specifically.

Would you believe Mumbo if he told you he still had nightmares about season 8? If he said he could still hear the phantoms cackling, could still feel the waves of antigravity, could still see the bright big moon when he closed his eyes.

It's so bizarre to him now. As he sleeps comfortably in his little secure vault in the new season, new world, it's so insane to him that he used to stay awake at night, watching the sky and holding his breath as he counted down the days until the end of the world. Because now in season 9 there is no bated breath. There is no moon crashing into the ground and scattering the Hermits as they all looked for a way out. For safety. And that safety is now season 9.

Mumbo doesn't need to save his breath in season 9.

Top 5 RAAU days.

Day 189 This one every time I look at it I expect it to start moving, there's a couple of errors that stick out like a sore thumb to me now but I'm just super happy with the way the lighting and movement came out.

Day 270 I was already happy with how the pile of birds and Tango came out but then Jimmy also came out good and then I somehow managed to get myself to draw a whole house and coop.

Day 324 I just really love the Jimmy in this one, he came out exactly how I wanted him to, awkwardly gangly and not quite fitting into the space he's allowed himself put comfortable anyways and his nose which I frequently mess up came out very good in particular too.

Day 423 This is probably the page with the most things drawn in it and I'm super happy with how it turned out with the colours and literal generations of clutter that the ranchers have barely cleaned up.

Day 531 This was a hard pick with 90, 126, or 216, and maybe if you asked me tomorrow or yesterday it would have been one of those instead, but I really just loved getting to draw Jimmy going feral and the interesting perspective. I think I have a bad habit of making Jimmy come off as delicate, passive, and reasonable, when he's supposed to be just as much of a headstrong spontaneous idiot who needs to be stopped as often as Tango does as he is in videos. (It coinciding with the start of his villain arc was a special little treat for me)

it was the dsmp LMAO—I really loved Techno's character and I thought he was so so interesting that I needed to write him. I've actually got the fic in my pinned post. I still really like it!!

mcyt was my first big fandom after a lull of fandoms because of school and lack of interest and no hyperfixations, so it's really awesome I've stuck with it for so long!

4. Anything you like in particular about writing for this fandom? (the setting, the aus, the people,etc)

blows up!! blows myself up!! the people!! RAAA GOD you really don't find dynamics like the life series anywhere else. some people hate it, I love it, I also love how versitile the characters are and how easily they can be moved and manipulated and put in other settings and other situations and it's really just cool how malleable they are I guess! some of my favorite works in this fandom are AUs (hello shep, envy, laurie, theo, belle, bidoof, the RAAU, THA, HTP, Space Mining, etc etc etc—myself??—) and I used to be a staunch AU avoider. which is crazy < could make a masterpost of all the AUs I've read at this point

14. Most fun and/or engaging character voice to write in?

OKAY I always say joel, because I love the way joel talks it's so clear in my brain!! nwn I can hear him!! I also think actually that xisuma is quite fun, he's got a few little quirks I've picked up on that I like using :3 And bdubs as well, courtesy of my friend myke using bdubs inflection all the freaking time

What kind of music do you think raau Tango and Jimmy like to listen to? Do you feel like they have the same or different music tastes? 🤔

Tango's a rock/metal and noise/ambient sorta guy and Jimmy isn't super picky as long as there's fun lyrics to sing. That said the thing they listen to most and enjoy together the most is country, especially the sorta stuff you find at like a pub karoake night, cause that's most of what they have and feels good to listen to on the ranch and road.

The mix I made for their road trips is a lot of the chicks, Reba, Toby Keith, Dolly Parton, and Johnny Cash. Specific songs not from those guys are Mud on the tires, truck got stuck, all my exes live in texas, ten rounds with jose cuervo, whiskey lullaby, I like it I love it, my front porch looking in, and she's in love with the boy.

Some non country stuff is a couple of duran duran, rem, barenaked ladies, mariana's trench, and train songs, gods gonna cut em down, the impression that I get, adventure of a lifetime, sweet summer samba, and shotgun.

I think the only think they disagree on is probably metal and such that has harsh noises, cause Jimmy can't mimic it without hurting his throat and it's a bit too much for his ears. Tango isn't a big fan of musical tracks either probably.

Been thinking about Jimmy helping with the large amount of livestock, and I wonder if there's any kind of animals (chickens maybe?) that reeeally like hanging around him? The ranch didn't have much livestock as it only really provided for a couple people, but Dogwarts is much bigger which means a LOT more animals.

Same question goes for tango, though he helped more on the machinery side of things rather than the with the livestock like Jimmy.

Actually! The chickens hate Jimmy. Big Chicky especially likes to attack him. Tango was the one who cared for the chicken, and they adore him like Jimmy does (he has that effect on birbs).

Also the rancher's cattle herd was probably about the same size as the kingdom's sheep herd. They started off with a lot of cattle and they were providing meat and dairy for the entire network, including False and Etho's band. Dogwarts has more people within it all living together but the population is about the same overall, so its more of a mass thing since a sheep provides less meat but they also breed and grow faster so they can be slaughtered more often.

Cows and cats seem to like Jimmy the most, along with any bovines. Horses, dogs, and sheep seem good around him, but he just causes a specific reaction in chickens and goats that make them hate him and vice versa.

Oli and Joe are as always doing way better than they should be. They're just scootin around on their moped surviving by the skin of their teeth and rocking out every night with an unplugged electric guitar and harmonica. They've probably somehow completely missed the hospital.

I'm such a HUGE (ha) fan of the last ranchers apocalypse AU update. Been following the comic since around the time it started and it's SOO good. Your art is amazing and I get so excited when I see the AU updated. Especially with Dogwarts being introduced (I'm a Renchanting girly at heart and I can not change) and the giant werewolf Ren idea is so fun. Just thought I'd let you know how happy your comic makes me and to keep up the fantastic work :>

I love making big giant werewolves, I've always been a believer that there's monsters you make scarier by increasing their numbers (zombies, vampires) and monster you make scarier by increasing their size (werewolves, dragons). It's so funny to imagine sweetheart theatre kid Ren especially as a kaiju werewolf, I have entire action sequences stuck in my head for him. But I'm excited to touch on the biopunk elements of the setting a little more with him also.

What's the recap crew up to? Still managing the radio/communications?

Yep! They don't have to worry about resources since everyone donates to them since their service is so important in keeping the groups in their range connected and thriving. They spend most od their time on fortifications to keep zloy alive. Despite living on top of a mountain there's always at least one zombie lurking around some tree waiting to chomp on him.

They're a well-oiled machine at this point. Zloy is the one that puts everything together btw, while Pixl runs the actual radio and communications, and Lyarrah records everything physically and digitally. Recently, she's been getting into paper making and been in contact with both Cleo and Pearl...

Wait did tango arm oxidize already or is that just color reflection

His new arm is made of different material, something darker and more iridescent based off his dungeon master skin which has some sort of thing with the hand going on. Don't ask me what, it wasnt even gonna be iridescent at first but i was flipflopping on the colour and i liked it. Maybe its some netherite alloy who knows

Jimmy needs therapy. Like, that was my first thought seeing the new part. He needs therapy. And cuddles. He's been cooped up too long. Wrap him in a soft weighted blanket and give him his comfort Tango.

Crashed before they even get to bed. Probably spends the next week carrying Tango around under his arm just to make sure no one kidnaps him again.

I know it's probabaly not possible but I'd kill for your ranchers apocalypse au to become an animated series or a podcast, I'd watch/listen to every episode (/genuine)

I dunno how it could be a podcast, but animated.... ngl I think about animated sequences for it a lot. It's basically impossible, but I like thinking about a particular sequence from that day where Jimmy and Lizzie were quilting that's just Tango waking up and talking to them before they get ready to head out. I'd love animating something like Jimmy unplugging from his home machine and switching to his portable one between packing his bag while Revy bothers him. My favourite animations are small things like that and in-between frames of big action, so I think about those a lot.
