Walking iterator design! Inspired by @capricoopla 's mobile iterators! I went for more of a mix between a few different things- namely nosk from Hollow Knight! It was supposed to look like a massive spider but it kinda looks like a fucked up giraffe weevil.

The body being built more akin to a spider allows for the neurons the iterators need to be stored somewhere safe and protected- the abdomen! Aka their massive spider booty. It can hold a TON of neurons- albeit very very cramped with minimal space for the neurons to move. This DOES affect the iterators- making them experience mood swings, constant spaghetti string thoughts™, and memory jumbling, but it allows for them to stay properly sapient and allows them to keep their memories and processing power.

The thorax (the part the head is connected to) is the main powering system. Inside isa leftover refraction cell- being inputted into a much smaller scale heart. The section it's hooked up to regulates the "voltage" being put out- that way the entire thing doesn't explode from an overload. The refraction cell is how the entire body is able to move in the first place!

The body is very heavy and sturdy, being able to withstand the rain if needed.its also covered in vents from its ventilation, as well as some addition steam valves to let trapped vapor from its coolant systems out.

If Seas' lil transfer into the slugcat body was even successful, how would she communicate with Stars or the others?

Seas’ transferred Scug would be a bit special.

Her Scug isn’t completely flesh and contains a few things that allow small messages/communication. Messages she sends have to be condensed into short sentences and can only be sent to one Iterator at a time due to her form being quite small.

Seas also can’t use her mouth to speak. Instead her voice comes from a small glowing part of her chest.

But if anything like delivering stuff or messages that have to be up front, she would have to travel like any other messenger Scug if necessary.

Man I haven’t done these long paragraphs in a while. I missed this :3

Apparently the idea came before the recent comic about her and it fits to the story kinda well

So I guess it can be called a cannon XD

Headcanon part below

I like to think scavenger tribes have a similar hierarchy to a hyena clan! The chieftain is a dominant female who selects their partner. And the rest of the tribe tends to be composed of their descendants. They do let alone scavengers join their tribe but they begin as the lowest members and receive the least food. The youngest in the tribe eat first. Low-ranking members can climb the social ladder by befriending higher-ranking members.

I also headcanon that scavengers use a combination of sign language and sounds to communicate. Their grammar will be different to how human sign language works but for the sake of future content I'm gonna make them use BSL (since I'm trying to learn it aswell it might help for remembering signs of I draw them). They might magically gain an extra digit on their hands because of that lmao.

Why don’t we start w the scugs yeah?

The Willow

Willow is a moss based plant scug that doesn’t feed of actual food, but sunlight. Like an actual plant. Their heart is replaced with a slowly growing flower taking over their body.

They hang around Distance quite bit ( mostly because Willow was born there )

The Snap Dragon

( I know it ain’t a dragon but shh)

This scug is a mimic flower, and uses all 5 senses except for sight, it has no eyes. They are friendly to both Distance and Willow. Anyone beyond that…eh

Due to the plants being 2x their size around Distance’s area Snap blends in perfectly

Fisher

Seas first scug and the oldest of the rest of the others.

Seas connects to Fisher the most due to them being the first scug she made (successfully). Fisher is energetic and often visit the other two scugs mentioned.

All three of them are besties for the fun of it.

I’m sure more about them will come soon, but not at the moment

Saw this audio floating around and felt it fit Luminal perfectly!

Not so fun fact, since Lumi's body outputs so much energy in the form of light, they need a very high energy intake, which is why they mainly eat things that glow or emit light/energy, as a result, they're very prone to going hungry or even entering starve cycles in areas that do not have much of those, unless they eat a LOT of non light emitting matter during said cycle to make up for it.

AN ITERATOR OC!

Meet "Truth Not Found" - probably the only iterator with Ancient civilization on his superstructure still ALIVE after all these cycles!

More of their lore below 👇

(I'll refer to Truth Not Found with he/they pronouns)

As any other iterator made by the Ancients, their purpose was to find a solution for a "Great Problem" but soon after he was activated, they were coming to conclusion, this was the unsolvable case and so he managed to reprogram themselves to keep their creators alive by any means necessary. After all TNF is very respectful towards their creators but he didn''t hesitate to use the power of their supercomputer to interfere the ongoing extinction.

It took them some time but apparently he convinced most of the Ancient community living on their structure to refuse the "Ascension" and cooperate, to make the surviving community a better place to live due to a lack of space and the risk of TNF's collapse if no action will be made.

And so another few cycles went past to prepare TNF's superstructure to move by itself in search for resources needed to realize "The New Goal" as Ancients began to call it.

The modification had been applied but without a cost of TNF losing some of their computing power to navigate this monstrous "ship" through the vast lands of this post-apocalyptic planet the Ancient used to live on. The key of not losing the designated path is maintaining TNF's vital machinery by the Ancients while the travel proceeds.

And so their journey is still going, reaching another collapsed superstructures and getting the best of those remnants, which doesn't satisfy the remaining iterators such as Seven Red Suns who consider TNF as "HERETIC" but their attempts to assassinate or disable them did a little if not nothing. TNF knew their "rebellion" may be taken as hostile action against the "Great Problem".

Though they managed to successfully repair few collapsed iterators, as TNF has some regards towards others of their kind. He also keeps the contract with individual iterators, mostly with those he helped.

I'm really happy how this design turned out to look like

With clothes on he has friendly appearance but without it the triangle shaped futuristic body comes out Wich makes them kind of menacing for me

Just wishing I won't forget to make more content of them

We'll see
