What do you think the deal is with some of the PiT enemies? There are Dry Bones found in Yoob's Belly despite Yoob having trouble eating Koopas, Handfakes somehow knowing what present-day Bowser looks like and working with his minions, and the Shroobs, despite a language barrier, managing to enlist non-Shroob minions like Ghoul Guys, Lethal Bob-ombs, and probably Soul Bubbles and Snoozorbs (both possibly alien and meant to look creepy but don't share design traits with the other Shroob enemies).

Good question! I believe a lot of the enemies in Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time were unfortunately designed without the context of the game in mind.

However, there are potential explanations for each of these things.

Yoob seemingly doesn’t have trouble eating all Koopas. It eats Baby Bowser just fine. While we can’t say for sure why he didn’t eat Kamek or Kylie, it might be as simple as “he went off their taste”.

Another possibility is that the Dry Bones aren’t Koopas that Yoob has eaten, but rather pre-existing Dry Bones that the Shroobs stationed within Yoob as guards, along with the Bullies and RC Shroobers.

Handfakes are an interesting case. There are a few possibilities:

Perhaps Bowser’s appearance is common amongst his species, much like with Toad and Yoshi, therefore an individual identical to Bowser could’ve existed at the time. Bowser even shares his Japanese name with his species, much like those characters do. This would also align with Bowser (Blue) from Super Mario Bros.: the Lost Levels and the Koopa Kids from Mario Party having incredibly similar appearances to Bowser. Personally I’m not a fan of this idea, however.

Perhaps the Handfakes somehow saw Bowser, when he briefly fell into the past and wandered around Thwomp Volcano, and decided to copy his image then.

Perhaps Bowser’s future image was predicted by wizards using crystal balls, like Merlon or Kamek, and handfakes used an illustration of this image to scare others. It’s possible that the handfakes could’ve even predicted the future themselves. They’re found on Star Hill after all, and the Stars have the ability to see into the potential future.

Finally, perhaps handfakes are able to produce images of enemies, extracted from the minds of those they face. Since they were fighting Mario and Luigi, they were able to produce images of future Bowser from their memories. This one is my personal favourite, and would explain them using Bowser’s Minions in general.

As for how the Shroobs were able to communicate with non-Shroobs, keep in mind that the language used by the Shroobs is still a complex, learnable language. Some other alien species may speak the same language as the Shroobs, while some Shroobs also definitely speak English. Remember that Elder Princess Shroob speaks English, both as the “Star Sprite” and once she’s been released from the Cobalt Star. Even if they couldn’t speak to each other, it’s possible the Shroobs used mind control on them, much like what they did to the Hammer Bros. in the Vim Factory.

It’s also worth noting that Bob-ombs, and maybe even Shy Guys could have originated in space as well, though that’s a post for another time…

“Uh… I lithp too much? Authowh, if you pweathe…?”

(Pit is the youngest servant of Princess Shroob. Being only just of kindergarten age, yet already having the intelligence of a university student, they’re convinced they make a great servant, and Princess Shroob fully agrees with it after having done research on them.

In the past, Pit was already allowed to leave the playgroup after one single day, and only had one day of each subsequent facility (pre-school to the university) where the people quickly discovered their massive intelligence. Of course, their guardian (they were born from ectobiology and thus have unknown parents) didn’t fully agree with the idea of keeping them secluded from the outside world, and that’s where he requested Pit’s future status as a servant to Princess Shroob, followed by the screening, and resulting into them actually getting the very status as well.

Of all of the servants, Pit is also the most hard-working one, even pickpocketing shady humans and other creatures wherever needed; most notably, stealing a Cobalt Star shard from princess Peach, which soon resulted into the comeback of the Elder Princess Shroob.)

With the announcement of a remake of Bowser's Inside Story and the successful remake for Superstar Saga, one must think how odd it was to skip Partner's in Time. Personally, it wasn't a very good game, but it was enjoyable. They made the Mushroom kingdom much more lively creative than just "Grassland, Desert, Iceland, Bowser". It had creative npcs, a good story, and the enemies were really good. SPEAKING off, you wanna talk of a very interesting line of similar foes? The Shroobs were it. Each one was particularly different and still had an overall similar design. This extends to some of the other bosses and Shroobified foes, but the branching designs of the Shroobs were pretty interesting. But yeah, the game doesn't hold up.

At the north side of Moob's Belly…

Panchiot and Young Panchito emerged out of the room's entrance, only to find themselves in an empty room.

"Oh, just an empty room…" Panchito pondered with her eyebrow raised.

"Hey me!" Young Panchito called him attention by pointing to somewhere.

"Huh? Do you see someone?" Panchito asked. Young Panchito nodded and led him to the room's corner.

There, they found a collapsed gray yellow Manny, with his tongue sticking out.

"So hungry… Need fruit…" the gray yellow Manny said, starving.

"Oh, poor Manny…" Panchito felt bad for him. "Is there any kind of fruit we can find here?"

"Yes!" Young Panchio nodded and surprisingly enough, he pulled out a shiny, orange-yellowish piece of fruit from his pockets

"Whoa! Where did you get that?" Panchito was surprised.

"I found it on inside one of those purple log-like holes from the main chamber!" Young Panchito explained.

"Impressive…" Panchito reply.

Young Panchito walked towards the starving gray yellow Manny and offered him a piece of fruit.

"Yippee! Fruit!" the gray yellow Manny beamed with happiness as he gobbles down the fruit. "Thank you!"

The two roosters told him about the boulder situation at the previous room and asked if he could lend a hand.

"Yes! I'm good to go!" the gray yellow Manny replied and went back to the main chamber to help the other Mannys by pushing the boulder. Only two more Mannys remaining!

At the northeast side of Moob's Belly…

Jose and his younger self saw a gray pink Manny at the other side of the room where the floor was covered with spikes at his front.

"A little help?" the pink gray Manny asked.

“Hmm..” Jose look down and stare at the spikes. “It seen that we can’t just walk over there.” He said to his young self. “Nor we jump or throw you over there. We have to find a way to get over there.” Then he spotted a Trampolines and up above was a hole. He look back at the pink gray Manny and see that there was also a hole above him. It seen so small that only little one can do it. “Hey me! I have an idea!” He calls out.

“See that thing over there?” He pointed where the Trampolines is.

“Yeah.” Young Jose nodded his head up and down.

“You see that hole up there?”

“Yeah.”

“We can go up there and walk over that hole where that Manny is but it is so small. I don’t think I can fit through that hole. I’m afraid that you have to do it.” Jose told him.

“Alright then, let's do it.” Young Jose jump on the Trampolines and The trampoline propels the young green bird to an upper, sub-area. Once Young Jose landed safely. He walked over to the hole that lead to where pink gray Manny is. He jumped down and landed beside him.

"We did it!" Young Jose cheered, but then realizes something: "But wait, how are we going to get Manny to the other side?"

"Simple. Hit that blue button!" Jose shouted.

Young Jose did what he told as he hit a blue button, which created two solid plasma blocks arranged like a bridge. This left Young Jose astonished.

"Yay! I can get out!" the Gray pink Manny chirped and ran to the other side to help with the boulder pushing at the main chamber. Just one more Manny left!

At the east side of Moob's Belly…

Panchito and his younger self went inside their picked room, where they climbed on top of the red wall and saw a RC Aliens with two antennas threatening a light-blue gray Manny, who was cowering in fear, with a radio-controlled UFO.

"%)$" the RC Alien sung.

"An Alien threatening a friendly Manny… I CAN'T STAND IT!" Young Panchito shouted.

"Then let's give him a lesson about how not to treat the Manny." Panchito smirked. However, when they slid down the wall to the floor, Panchito realized: "The only problem is that there's no way through this wall."

"Not if I do this!" Young Panchito grinned as he took out his hammer and prepares to throw it.

"Wait, don't tell me you'll-!"

But Young Panchito threw his hammer before Panchito could finish his sentence. The hammer flew above the wall and miraculously, its head hit the UFO, causing it to short-circuit and fly to the wall, blowing it up.

"Yeah! Bull's eye!" Young Panchito cheered.

"Wow… I forgot that I was a very playful little nino back then." Panchito thought while smiling in embarrassment. "But also quite impulsive too…which is odd."

That event also surprised the RC Alien as he looks around to try to find the culprit.

"Now let's take that Alien down!" Young Panchito demanded as he went to the other side of the blown up wall, with his adult self following suit.

"#&!" the RC Alien's eye twitched as he ran straight for them.

The RC Alien used his antennas to command a UFO and it was heading straight for Panchito to abduct him. Luckily, Young Panchito retrieved his hammer, jumped on Panchito's back once he was abducted and hit the UFO just in time, sending it to the RC Alien.

Both Panchitos did a stomp on the RC Shroober, who later called out a bomb this time. The Panchitos were able to avoid it by jumping over it until it blew up. They took this advantage to perform together the hammer attack, defeating the RC Alien.

Once the RC Alien was killed, the light-blue gray Manny stood up and thanked both Panchitos:

"Thanks!"

The Panchitos told him about the situation at the main chamber, and he agreed to help the other Mannys too.

One regroup later…

The four heroes watched the six Mannys pushing very hard, and eventually, the boulder slowly started to move.

"It's working!" Young Jose exclaimed.

The Mannys continued pushing until the boulder fell into the hole, and as it rolled all the way down, the tight passageway became narrower enough for anybody to pass.

"Wahoo!" the Mannys celebrated. "Let's roll!" as they jumped down the hole.

"Let's follow them!" Jose said.

Everyone nodded and went down the passageway.

“I’m one of Mars’s classmates, but seemingly more intelligent than John and Jade’s heated friendly rivalry altogether, as I’m the only one who mostly gets A’s and A+’s. Of course I don’t mind being called a nerd, because I know I am one, too! Not because of my glasses that I also have to wear due to nearsightedness, but like I already mentioned, the high grades!

My parents’ lives were also taken by the hands of those nasty humans, but fortunately, my grandfather, who is a Shroid, was lucky to have survived by not showing up when those humans came to what used to be known as Toad Town, but is nowadays known as Shroob Town. Yes, even for our monarchs, and you, the one who reads this!

However, when I’m not focusing on anything in the way of science or ectobiology, I sing all sorts of songs. If you want to hear my golden voice (or so my grandfather calls it), I’m to be found in the main karaoke bar every Friday evening!”

Haven’t posted in ages because I, the admin, have been working on this comic on an on-and-off basis, partly because I replayed Mario & Luigi: Partners In Time recently, and finished it for the first ever time, too! :)

This comic is based on this well-known meme, but the lines are slightly altered, as is a cuss word at the end replaced with Shroob language because why not? ;)

Also, this comic finally shows Bridget’s big brother Sean while not wearing his hood! And it proves that some Shroobs do wear clothes on occasion if they’re not one of the princesses. ;p
