Away From Her Goalie - Clàudia Pina x Reader

A/n: next part in the Score A Goalie universe... enjoy! next one will take a while, it requires research:)

The UWCL final in Eindhoven was here. Barcelona versus Wolfsburg. Clàudia on the pitch, you watching from the stands. You hadn’t felt so anxious about a match since the Copa De La Reina final, Atleti against Real Madrid, a match that went from 2-0 up to Real Madrid to Atleti bringing it to 2-2, through extra time and into penalties. Atleti came out on top and you were unashamed to admit that you had shed tears of joy over Atleti’s victory.

You had spent your time after the league finished organising the stuff you had brought to Barcelona back in January, trying to fit what you needed for your plans after the final.

Both sets of plans, as Clàudia planned to help you with your move, before the two of you went on a small holiday to serve as a break for you before you were thrown into training for the NWSL with NJ/NY Gotham FC, a club in need of a strong goalie to maintain their position at number 1 in the table.

It was hard, but you no longer had your apartment in Madrid, moving your things into storage that you did want to keep, but selling a lot. Clàudia was keeping some of your stuff for your return to Barcelona, the plans being after the NWSL season was done in November, you would be able to visit whilst Atleti and Gotham sorted out the post-NWSL training you could do before the winter transfer window in January.

But your career wasn’t the focus right now, as you sat in the stands of the Philips Stadium, in Eindhoven, waiting. Pina was on the bench but the stadium energy was electric.

Wolfsburg may have scored two goals first, but you couldn’t help but think about the Copa De La Reina final, Atleti were two goals down before bringing it up to 2-2, taking it to penalties after extra time where Atleti won.

You did not want it to go to penalties.

The second half was different and you could feel it, Patri sending the ball into the net to take it to 2-1, then two minutes later, Patri sent the ball in again, the score going to 2-2. Rolfö eventually making it 3-2 but later shots were going wide.

Pina was finally subbed on for Mariona in the 79th minute, while Ana was subbed on for Caro at the same time.

You grimaced as Wilms fouled Pina, but it wasn’t long after that Wilms was subbed off. A clash between Bronze and Popp had all the attention on the sidelines however, as Ingrid and Alexia prepared to be subbed onto the pitch at the 89th minute. 7 minutes of stoppage time were added, your stomach twisting as you leaned forwards in your seat, watching carefully.

Popp and Paredes ended up with yellow cards after a collision almost looked like it would turn into a fight on the pitch, Alexia and Ingrid having been subbed on minutes before the seven minutes of stoppage time arrived. Tackles flew in with players dropping like flies and you couldn’t stop grimacing.

Eventually the minutes ran out, Barcelona being crowned champions of Europe as Queen’s We Are The Champions played across the stadium, the team swaying and Pina rocking the trophy like it was a baby.

She spotted you in the stands, grinning and waving as you waved back, jumping up and down in celebration.

The UWCL final was a flashbulb memory in your mind, and your fiancee’s as you sorted out your suitcases, the flight across the Atlantic amounting to more than 8 hours in the air, with Patri driving you two to the Barcelona airport.

“I will miss you, but I will miss your pancakes more.” Patri declared as she watched you travel with double the amount of suitcases as Pina, but the reasoning made sense.

You were moving countries for your career, your fiancee was helping you settle in first, but you were allowed a break before going head on into the NWSL.

A break that you were spending with Pina, visiting someone you hadn’t seen in almost a year. Jenni Hermoso, who currently resides in Mexico to play for Pachuca in the Liga MX Femenil.

Arriving at JFK airport, Pina pulled up her hood, whilst you dug through your backpack, eventually finding a pair of sunglasses and putting them on to obscure your face.

“Where do we go?”

“I was emailed instructions… we need to get the subway to…” you paused, looking between your suitcases, to your large backpack balanced on one of them, to Pina’s luggage, “we’re taking suitcases on the subway… great start.”

“So we go from central station and get a connecting train to New Jersey…” You went over the instructions, passing Pina your sunglasses as you found your hat, almost amused at the Atleti logo on it but you were pretty sure someone had recognised you both whilst on the subway already.

“This should be it. The club arranged something close to the subway so I could get around without a car.” You explained, putting the key in the lock and almost celebrating when it turned and opened the door.

Wheeling all the suitcases inside, you headed over to the windows as you heard your fiancee speak, “es pequeño,” as she locked the door behind you both.

“Un poco,” agreeing with her, but it was a studio apartment with a tiny kitchen and windows that let in a lot of natural light, the view of the city presenting the hustle and bustle of New Jersey as you gazed out at the busy road full of cars.

“It feels very… New York, New Jersey… I don’t see a bat signal though.” You joked, peeking through the blinds like you were looking for a way to summon Batman.

“Gotham.” Pina rolled her eyes playfully as she snickered at your joke, walking over to the window to have a look.

“Suppose I should unpack something. Can’t leave it all until I’m back from Mexico and you’re on a flight… back to Barcelona.” Meeting your fiancee’s sad gaze, you held back your emotions as she reached for your hand.

“What am I doing? Moving nearly forty thousand miles away from you for a few months in the hopes my goalkeeper career isn’t just sitting on a bench until I retire then get stuck trying to become a goalkeeper coach? I’m sorry, you deserve better.”

“No. I deserve you. We deserve each other, and we both deserve play time, but I want you too.” Pina declared, her hand cupping your cheek as your face softened from where it was scrunched up in sadness, trying to hold the tears back.

“I want you too, and I want to play minutes. You are the only person who has put me first in a long time. You’re it for me, mi vida, our souls are together, even when our bodies are so far apart. I want to come back to you, marry you, and never leave you again, unless you don’t want that-”

“I choose you, remember? And our bodies are not apart yet.” Pina smirked, leaning in to press her lips against yours, before pulling away as you smiled.

“You’re right. In fact, I think our bodies could be a little closer.”

It took a little while to get your stuff unpacked, the two of you heading back out to travel from Hoboken and ending up in Greenwich Village, Lower Manhattan.

“I’m sorry you’re missing Ibiza this year.” You apologised over dinner/lunch (the timezone difference threw you two off), but your fiancee shook her head, pointing out that she was getting to spend time with her fiancee, in a new city before heading to another new city for a few days and seeing Jenni again after so long.

“I missed you in New York last winter.” Pina rationalised, smiling at you, before avoiding eye contact with whoever was behind you as the two of you were recognised.

“When do Atleti and Gotham announce your loan? People are recognising us from Barcelona.”

The flight to Mexico was nowhere near as long as the Transatlantic flight from Barcelona, the two of you bringing a lot less luggage too as you both looked to find Jenni and whoever she had brought with her to pick you both up from arrivals.

“¡Hola mis bebés!” Jenni cheered, pulling you both into a hug when she spotted the two of you approaching.

Your time in Mexico came and went, revealing the engagement to Jenni and how you were going to be on loan to NJ/NY Gotham until the end of the 2023 NWSL season. Jenni’s reaction included how you did not ask for her blessing, before she was congratulating you both and hugging you for taking a big step in your goalkeeping career.

Now you were staring out of your tiny studio apartment’s windows, watching the sun rise and trying to hype yourself up on your first day with Gotham.

Atleti and Gotham posted their posts first. Atleti revealed you had been sent on loan to NJ/NY Gotham for the rest of the 2023 NWSL season with good luck.

Gotham was a little more excited for you, using a photo array of shadows to tease your arrival, the shadows even resembled Batman before the final reveal of you in the Gotham goalie kit, the shadows made to look like the Bat Signal through the use of the spotlights during the photography session.

You were the next one to post, announcing your loan with a repost of the photo of you in the Gotham kit, with Bat Signal shining onto the dark background behind you, followed by photos of New York and New Jersey you had saved from when you and Pina were exploring around the two states.

Your previous posts consisted of photos of you and Pina hanging out with Jenni in Mexico, throwing people off online who thought everyone would be going to Ibiza, whilst leaving fans speculating as your engagement rings were spotted in one of the photos.

‘Sorry I’m not Batman, but I’m here to protect Gotham.’ Your caption was cheesy, especially with the bat emojis that Pina copied into her comment, along with a heart and flame emoji reminding you of the early days in your relationship.

$45M home in Kings Point, New York has 18bds., 24 full baths, & 8 half baths. The realtor’s notes say, “The possessor of this impressive residence has the option to make interior custom upgrades if desired.” Then, they show you 2 different options. I think the owners are afraid that buyers won’t like their taste in decor, so they’re willing to put it all back to white. Take a look at this.

They show the rooms in white first. And, the 2nd photo is what it currently looks like.

So, do you like this, or would you have them make it white?

They will do this for you. (What if you don’t want that ceiling medallion?)

Unless you like this.

They will turn the kitchen completely sterile white and steel.

Unless you want to keep it like this. I don’t like either one of them.

Which one? Seriously, I think that the buyer would be better off w/a blank slate.

This dining room is so bizarre, I think I’d keep it the way it is.

Not much they would have to do in the main bd. Isn’t it gigantic?

Apparently, that’s all they will redo for the new buyer, the rest stays. Like this Yowzah! hallway. It’s kind of trippy.

And, the pool. It’s incredible, though.

Hot tub with shell chairs. Look at this decor. The floor, walls and ceiling, not to mention the column and lights.

Look at the home gym. More shell chairs, agate walls, and the ceiling.

I’m disappointed in the wine cellar floor- at first I thought it had inlaid grapes.

I guess you don’t have to go to that fancy pool, b/c here’s a more minimalist one.

I don’t know why this room is all white and empty, already.

The house is on Long Island in New York, so that must be the Long Island Sound.

In the summer, there’s an outdoor pool to use.

Morgan has about 8 separate siblings, 5 of which were conceived outside of her parents marriage and she has never met them.

9 Terrifying American Murder Houses

From Amityville Horror to Jeffrey Dahmer’s one-bedroom, these murder houses are home to some truly brutal murders.

9. THE AMITYVILLE HORROR HOUSE 112 OCEAN AVE, AMITYVILLE, NY

When the deal is too good, start asking questions. In 1975, George and Kathy Lutz bought this sprawling Dutch Colonial on the south shore of Long Island at a bargain rate. The reason for the discounted price tag? Just 13 months earlier, previous resident Ronald “Butch” DeFeo slaughtered his parents and four younger siblings while they slept in their beds. It didn’t take long for the weirdness to begin. Demonic voices, oozing walls, cloven hoof prints in the snow. The Lutz family lasted just two months before fleeing 112 Ocean Avenue in the night.

8. THE HEX MURDER HOUSE REHMEYERS HOLLOW RD, SHREWSBURY, PA

In 1928, John Blymire was convinced a reclusive neighbor named Nelson Rehmeyer had put a hex upon him. Believing the only way to break the curse was to track down Rehmeyer’s spell book and set it ablaze, Blymire rallied two buddies for a late-night visit. While the gang never found the book, they did find Rehmeyer whom they murdered and mutilated before setting his body on fire. In 2007, an effort was made to open the Hex House to the public, but the plan was eventually scrapped.

7. MOORE FAMILY AXE MURDER HOUSE 508 E 2ND ST, VILLISCA, IA

On a cool summer night in 1912 someone broke into this peaceful Iowa homestead and bludgeoned all six family members plus two houseguests with an axe. The horrific scene was discovered the following morning by a concerned neighbor. Numerous suspects were named in the case including a traveling minister and State Senator Frank F. Jones. Nevertheless, the murder remains unsolved.

6. KREISCHER MANSION 4500 ARTHUR KILL RD, STATEN ISLAND, NY

German entrepreneur Balthasar Kreischer built this sprawling mansion in 1885 as a symbol of his success in the brick making business. The good times were short-lived. By 1894, his company had crumbled and his youngest son had shot himself in the head. The decaying mansion sat empty for years until its groundskeeper used the property for a mob hit in 2005. Joseph Young strangled and stabbed his target before finally drowning the man in a garden pool. Young then hacked up the body and burned it in the mansion’s incinerator.

5. LIZZIE BORDEN HOUSE 230 2ND ST, FALL RIVER, MA

On August 4, 1892 Andrew Borden was thrashed with a hatchet while he dozed on the couch of his parlor. Andrew’s second wife Abby met an equally grisly end in the upstairs bedroom. While everyone in Fall River suspected daughter Lizzie of the crime, the local judge remained unconvinced. She was tried and acquitted of the murder one year later. Oddly, the home is now a successful bed & breakfast.

4. MANSON FAMILY MURDER HOUSE 10050 CIELO DRIVE, LOS ANGELES, CA

In 1969, members of the Manson Family shocked the nation when they broke into this L.A. estate and slaughtered Sharon Tate along with four other victims. The murderers wrote pig in blood across the front door. Numerous residents have since called 10050 Cielo Drive home including musician Trent Reznor, who recorded THE DOWNWARD SPIRAL there. In 1994, the original structure was razed and replaced with a new mansion, currently occupied by the creator of FULL HOUSE.

3. JEFFREY DAHMER’S APARTMENT 924 NORTH 25TH ST, APT 213, MILWAUKEE, WI

Cannibal killer Jeffrey Dahmer lured numerous victims to his nondescript one-bedroom, where he drugged and dismembered them in a brutal campaign of murder. Severed limbs were packed in the freezer for future consumption; torsos were dumped in a vat of acid. Police finally arrested Dahmer in 1991 after one of his prisoners managed to escape. The entire apartment building was torn down shortly thereafter.

2. JOHN WAYNE GACY’S HOUSE 8213 SUMMERDALE AVE, CHICAGO, IL

It’s always good to know your neighbors especially if you suspect them of murder. John Wayne Gacy buried dozens of bodies in the basement and backyard of his suburban home while neighbors casually went about their day. When Gacy’s wife complained of a putrid smell, Gacy blamed it on dead mice. By the time police nabbed the infamous killer clown and excavated his 8213 Summerdale Ave property, they uncovered 29 bodies.

1. GARDETTE-LAPRETE HOUSE 1240 BURGUNDY ST, NEW ORLEANS, LA

In the late 1830s, plantation owner Jean LePrete leased his French Quarter Greek Revival to a mysterious man from Turkey. The renter, known only as The Sultan had more than a few roommates. He arrived with a massive entourage of eunuchs and concubines. The house quickly became known for its lavish parties, with music and revelry carrying on into the night. One morning, a passerby noticed 1240 Burgundy was eerily quiet. Then he spotted blood seeping out of the door. When authorities entered, they found everyone inside had been murdered and dismembered. As for The Sultan? He was buried alive in the courtyard. To this day, the case remains unsolved.

Re: housing, I agree with your ideas but I just read that NYCHA needs like $78 billion for repairs. From a national budget standpoint that is trivial but that's still a lot for the city budget, so my question is do you think it is possible to build public housing at a robust rate considering the costs and usual political opposition (see recent housing failure in NY state gov)? Also do you think there is a way to get costs down?

In public policy, the devil is always in the details.

So I read the same articles that you've read, which mention that NYCHA just reported that they need $78 billion to repair and renovate their buildings, and that figure is almost double the $45 billion estimate from 2017. And then I read the actual report, which explains that $78 billion is how much NYCHA will need to spend over the next twenty years.

$78 billion divided by 20 is $3.9 billion a year. Now I don't want to minimize the problem: NYCHA's operating budget, which is separate from the NYC municipal budget, is about $4 billion a year and its capital budget is about $8 billion a year, so these repairs represent a significant additional cost burden for NYCHA. However, the NYC municipal budget is $107 billion a year - financing these repairs is not beyond the fiscal capacity of the City of New York, especially if it can get some assistance from the State Budget and HUD.

Counter-intuitively, I actually think this issue is an example of the costs of not spending money when it comes to public housing. As I've said before, trying to build public housing as cheaply as possible is actually counter-productive, because cheap construction runs down faster and increases maintenance and repair costs. In part what we are seeing now is the long-term consequences of the Federal Housing Acts of 1937 and 1949 and New York's state and city level housing laws requiring public housing to be built as cheaply as possible, as well as budgeting decisions made by NYC and NYCHA since the 1970s that have downplayed building new housing to replace the older stock and sought to save money from maintenance and repair budgets.

If instead NYCHA housing had been built to and operated at the same standards as similarly sized private apartment complexes that house New York's middle class and affluent residents, the buildings would be looking much better for their age - and NYCHA's repair bill would be much, much lower.

But to answer your question: it is absolutely possible for New York to build large amounts of high quality public housing, if it's willing to spend the money to do so, and the governor doesn't massively alienate the same progressive legislators and labor groups whose support they'll need to overcome suburban resistance to affordable housing.

And in terms of bringing down costs, I'd recommend that the state directly construct the housing rather than going through the traditional private contractors. (Also, if the state wants to really save money and be sneaky, instead of negotiating set-asides that merely designate a percentage of units as (temporarily) "affordable" in return for tax and regulatory benefits, have those negotiate a percentage of units as publicly-owned. Scatter-site housing via inclusionary zoning!)

There’s no 2400 W 70th or zip code 10230, obviously, and since the highest numbers on that street lead toward the Hudson, she’s definitely in the fictional apartment that is totally not in the Hudson. Here’s where the street ends:

The original Titans Tower was in the East River. I could cite specific comics but, it’s just all of NTT. The current Titans Tower as of Titans (2023) is in Blüdhaven.

There is this map of NYC from the DC / Mayfair Games “Atlas of the DC Universe” (1990):

The second Teen Titans HQ was in Farmingdale, Long Island (Who’s Who: The Definitive Directory of the DC Universe v1 #23).

After the third team of Titans got together, Vic had an apartment on 11th Avenue and 44th street (New Teen Titans v1 #8)

Donna & Kory’s shared apartment was in the East 80s (New Teen Titans v1 #16).

Gar lived in the Dayton Estate in East Hampton (Tales of the Teen Titans #50). This is where Donna had her wedding to Terry (love the wedding issue, hate the guy).

As of NTTv2 #12, Joey Wilson lived in New Hyde Park with his mom, Dick lived in Central Park West (also his apartment was canonically haunted), and Kory lived in Greenwich Village, on 8th street off Mercer.

After coming home from several months in space, Kory got a SoHo apartment where Dick moved in with her not long after (New Teen Titans v2 #32, #39; Who’s Who Update 1988 #2). Dick moved back into his old apartment after Jason died (New Titans #57).

Raven got her first apartment which was a studio above a theater on Broadway (New Teen Titans v2 #35). Before that she had just lived in the Tower since joining the team.

The base for the Outsiders team Roy and Dick founded after Donna died was in Brooklyn (Outsiders (2003) #1).

There are definitely more references to locations elsewhere but these are the ones I already have in my notes, just to remember where she is in relation to where they’ve all been before. ❤️

Wouldn’t it be easier for Harry to attend the film festival in Toronto for My Policeman due to proximity to NY then it would for him it travel to Venice for the other festival? I’m just thinking of logistics with all the NYC shows during that timeframe.

Which leaves these dates for him to do promo in Venice for DWD: September 4 – 6

DWD comes out September 23, 2022 He would be available for promo in New York on September 22 - 23

NEW YORK, NY.- Phillips presented the star lot of the fall auction season – Gerhard Richter’s exceptional Abstraktes Bild. Painted in 1987 and comprised of two large-scale panels, the work is over thirteen feet wide and nearly nine feet tall, making this one of the largest works from Richter’s oeuvre to ever be offered at auction. Following a tour to Taipei and Hong Kong, the monumental painting will be exhibited in New York in the lead up to the Evening Sale of 20th Century & Contemporary Art, where it will be offered with an estimate available upon request.

A decade later, it was shown at the prestigious Carnegie International, a sign of the work’s enduring ability to represent Richter’s artistic output of the 1980s, arguably the most important decade of his career. With the market for similar paintings by Richter from this period finding homes in some of the most prestigious collections across the globe, we look forward to presenting this remarkable work to Phillips’ community of collectors.”

Abstraktes Bild displays Richter’s virtuosity in abstraction and his inimitable talent as a colorist. With Richter’s unique use of the squeegee, a tool he began using for abstract work just one year prior, the artwork captures the movement of the artist's body through the painting process. Painted shortly after the artist moved away from his figurative, photo-based painting, Abstraktes Bild reveals the explosive power, depth of color, and emotional resonance that would distinguish Richter as one of the most profound abstract painters of his generation.

Besides the present work, there is only one other Abstraktes Bild created in 1987, of similarly epic scale, which resides in the Museu Coleção Berardo, Lisbon. Similar Abstrakte Bilder from 1986 to 1989 – Richter’s most desirable period – populate esteemed public and private collections around the world, including those of The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art; Ergo Versicherungsgruppe AG, Düsseldorf; Instituto do Patrimônio Histórico e Artístico Nacional, São Paulo; Carré d’Art, Nîmes; Landesbank Baden-Württemberg, Stuttgart; the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts; and the Saint Louis Art Museum, which owns the iconic November, Dezember, Januar paintings of 1989.

- Her mom and dad wanted there kids to grow up being big

- So when they kids both could walk and talk they got them right in

- Char learned a lot to the point where her name was big in the dancing world. To ballroom, ballet, contemporary, hip hop, tap to jazz and ice skating when she had time

- And there for her twin brother, music and sports

- When she was ten years old, her family had moved to france

- 7 years later, they moved back to NY, but there family had a big name to live up too

- But at the same time, she kept herself to who she truly was. She was a loving person who will buy anyone before her own.

- Since then, she loves to give back to people and animals. Will go out to the protest and talk to the people

- Moving back to new york after the summer of her sophomore year. She met up with her old time best friend ‘Max Wolfes’

- The Wolves and The Jeans were very close friends

- Godien Wolfes is the twins' godfather, so Max and The Twin grow up together. The trio

- So when the twin came back to the upper east side, they knew who to go to.

- The first day there, all eyes on them, but CJ went straight to the table up first to call out Max’s name.

Introducing them to the group, and one person couldn't keep - their eyes off of her.

“And this is Obie”

- Then the bell was ringing and max took you in his hands to take

- Later on, the group knew a lot about CJ, but it was more of Fracces things

- They were all on the stares when Monet asked her

“Hey CJ, when going out tonight for a little get together, we knew Frances in. How about you?”

“Sorry guys, but am volunteering and the NYC animal shelter tonight-”

“Wait tonight at 8” Obie asked

“Yes, actionaly” CJ said laughing it off

“Am was actually looking at that the other night, maybe we could go together?”

“Sure why not”

- That night, they got to know each other very well, Yes Obie that she was just like any other new york girl but he was liking her for then he thought

- After that night of feeding food to the animals and cleaning them and more, they became closer

- Obie would do anything to hang out with her

- They sometimes walked to school together and have study “Date”

- At school they would eat together and just become friends

- He would even show up at Max house when he knew she was going to be over there

- Frances help him out as will

- After a long study “date”, Obie asked her on a real date

- They would go out to more events which catch the media's attentions in a good way and bad

- CJ posted pictures of them and events (with obie permission) her fans thought it was cute but Julies and GG fans didn't like it so much

- They were cute couple

- Obie met CJ parents and loved him

- CJ met Obie mom, She said she loves her already

- They would go to big events together

- Obie would take her to different places in NY

- CJ would give him dance lesson and when it came to any of her dance competitions, he would be there sitting next her family with a handful of flowers

- Sometimes they would have study dates at each others house but Obie likes it better over her because it feels more like home

- They did everything together, and it made them seem like they were in love

- Since she was around Obie more, she was around Aki and Audrey and Max more. Frances would be around alot, made the self a little group

- Around new york, Obie invited you and your brother to the Quaint weekend house

- The whole weekend, Obie and CJ shared the same room

- When the twins walked in, everyone was just getting there

- It was a fun and relaxing

- Everyone got along and had fun, Frances was flirting with Luna and Obie had you mostly to himself

- Julien felt some way but wanted him to be happy. But not with you

- CJ helped around the house, had the grow make cookies and spend time together, Obie was falling more and more in love

- And on new year, they were each other new year kiss

- After that, everyone loved them. Obie was happy

- GG would post things on IG

Well Well Well, It looks like there's a new couple in town. @Charlotte Jeans and @Obie Bregaens have been hitting off pretty well. Them out on the town helping others and dogs. Let's see where this goes. Charlotte or should I say CJ is the new girl and all around famous dancers with big money to her money. Lets see if Obie will love Julien or CJ? - CJ didn't really care but it seem to get to Julies head

- Julien was upset that Obie was getting over her and with CJ now

- So she did what she did best, try to break you down

- Julien, Monet ended up finding something and sent it to GG to hurt CJ

- Found out the CJ and Frances are adopted twins

- When GG posted it, It really didn't hurt the twins. Just hated it now that people knew their business more then the should

- Julien didn't like how CJ reacted so she wanted to hurt her more

- But what the found out was not about CJ, but about her twin

- Frances was a Drug addict

- Once GG posted it, know saw the twins for over 3 to 4 weeks

- CJ and Frances were close, not like Grace closes but they were best friends

- Once France was ready to come back to school, So was CJ.

- And CJ had a bad feeling about the group, had a feeling that someone was out for her

1631 – The English Elizabethan poet Michael Drayton died on this date (b.1563). In 1593 appeared the first of Drayton's historical poems, "The Legend of Piers Gaveston" which dealt with the relationship between the English King Edward II and Gaveston in sympathetic terms that did not condemn their love. Drayton moved in the circle of writers that included Christopher Marlowe and Drayton's play may have had an influence on Marlowe's version which came out the following year in 1594.

1777 – Tsar Alexander I of Russia was born on this date (d.1825). Alexander's Russia is the backdrop for Tolstoy's War and Peace, so complicated is this period of European history. Basically, Alexander may be seen as the emperor of Russia who formed the coalition that defeated Napoleon and founded the Holy Alliance. The church bells you hear at the end of Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture are ringing out at the news of Alexander's defeat of France, which made him one of the most powerful leaders in Europe.

Is it any wonder Napoleon called Alexander "the slyest and handsomest of all the Greeks," a begrudgingly admiring assessment of the czar's homosexuality, a contention amply supported in the documents of the period. Alexander was always shrouded in mystery. When he died, rumors persisted that he had actually fled Russia to Siberia where he became a hermit. In 1926 his tomb was opened by the Soviet government. It was empty and the mystery remains unresolved.

1954 – Danny Nicoletta is an American photographer, photo journalist and gay rights activist.

Born in New York City, Daniel Nicoletta was raised in Utica, NY. In his late teens he left New York to attend San Francisco State University, later graduating from the bachelor of arts program. He started his photographic career in 1975 as an intern to Crawford Barton, who was then a staff photographer for the national gay magazine The Advocate.

In 1974, when he was 19, Nicoletta first met Harvey Milk and Scott Smith at Castro Camera, their camera store on Castro Street; the following year, they hired him to work at shop. The three became friends, and Nicoletta worked with Milk on his campaigns for political office. During this period of time, Nicoletta took many now well-known photographs of Milk.

After Milk's death, Nicoletta worked to keep his memory alive. He was the installation coordinator of the Harvey Milk photographic tribute plaques installed at Harvey Milk Plaza and at the Castro Street Station, which featured his photographs as well as those of Marc Cohen, Don Eckert, Jerry Pritikin, Efren Ramirez, Rink, and Leland Toy. He was co-chair of the Harvey Milk City Hall Memorial Committee, and his photograph served as the basis for the bust of Milk that now resides in the rotunda of San Francisco's City Hall.

In the feature film Milk, a biographical film based on the life of Harvey Milk directed by Gus Van Sant, Nicoletta is played by Lucas Grabeel. Nicoletta himself plays Carl Carlson and served as the still photographer on the film.

Nicoletta was one of the founders of the San Francisco International LGBT Film Festival, now known as the Frameline Film Festival. In 1977, while still working at Harvey Milk's photography shop, Nicoletta, along with David Waggoner, Marc Huestis, and others, began film screenings of their Super 8 films, called the Gay Film Festival of Super 8 Films, which evolved into the yearly festival.

1970 – The film Little Big Man was released on this date. Directed by Arthur Penn, it was one of the year's top grossing films. Of particular interest was actor Robert Little Star's portrayal of "Little Horse", a Transgendered Native American who was well accepted by his peers. This was one of the first popular recognitions of a tradition of sexual diversity among Plains Indian nations.

1980 – Rory O'Malley is an Irish-American film, television, and musical theater actor, best known for his Tony Award-nominated performance as Elder McKinley in The Book of Mormon. He is a co-founder of the gay rights activism group Broadway Impact.

O'Malley was featured in the Dustin Lance Black play, '8', on Broadway as Ryan Kendall and in the Los Angeles premiere as Dr. Gregory M. Herek — witnesses in the federal case that overturned California's Proposition 8.

In 2012, O'Malley and his boyfriend Gerold Schroeder were featured in a GAP ad, cheek to cheek, with the caption "BE ONE."

On July 21, 2013, O'Malley announced that he is engaged to his boyfriend of five years, Gerold Schroeder. On September 28, 2014, Rory and Gerold were married.

O'Malley is an active supporter of gay rights, establishing the activism group Broadway Impact in 2009 with Gavin Creel and Jenny Kanelos. O'Malley said of the group in late 2010:

"[S]ince its first year, Broadway Impact has held massive rallies for equality in New York City, made thousands of calls through phone banks and even organized 25 buses to Washington, D.C. so that 1,400 people could attend the National Equality March for free. This year we were honored to receive the 2010 Human Rights Campaign Community Award and even participated in the ING New York City Marathon as a charity team. Our team of 12 runners, including myself, raised $38,440 for Broadway Impact!"Openly gay, he came out at the age of 19. In an April 2011 interview with O'Malley said, "Life comes before the business...Maybe some actors haven't gotten a role because they came out, but who gives a shit if you aren't happy? I do have it easier because I'm not a leading man, but I can't imagine having the energy to be in the closet. Besides, gay actors who start up gay organizations can't exactly get away with it." He currently resides in New York City with his husband Gerold. O'Malley remains good friends with Book of Mormon co-star and former college roommate Josh Gad.

1993 – Philadelphia starring Tom Hanks premieres. The film is an American drama and one of the first mainstream Hollywood films to acknowledge HIV/AIDS, homosexuality, and homophobia. It was written by Ron Nyswaner, directed by Jonathan Demme and stars Tom Hanks and Denzel Washington. Hanks won the Academy Award for Best Actor for his role as Andrew Beckett in the film, while the song "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen won the Academy Award for Best Original Song.

1998 – Chile decriminalizes consensual sodomy.

2009 – The Chief Justice of Pakistan orders the National Database & Registration Authority to issue national identity cards showing "distinct" gender allowing hijras to register as a separate gender.

watching grey’s anatomy for the first time after only watching private practice: another long and obnoxious stream of my thoughts while watching (season NINE, babey)

-RIP lexie grey you would’ve loved the GUTS album

-i feel like meredith isn’t really being mean enough to warrant the nickname. the new interns are kind of just wusses

-i love that the filter over the flashbacks makes the scrubs all look black, like they’re all in mourning

-mr feeney brought her a danish :)

-i’m confused about the timeline of residency and fellowship. why didn’t callie have to do a fellowship or anything? she just like quit and then came back as head of ortho

-i feel sad for arizona and i get that her knocking over the vase was supposed to be a dramatic way to show how frustrated she is with walking again but lowkey they should have put those slip resistant feet thingys on their couch if they were gonna put it straight on the hard floor
