Special note: the books by Brian Aldiss that I've added recently are all in good condition except they are all owner inscribed and the rims have been taped for protection. I’ve been trying to get down the pile by the side of my bed so here’s 3 books I’ve finished recently! In the Reign of King John by Dan Jones is a nicely produced visual book on the history of Magna Carta and the wider effects of the year 1215 on British, and world, history. I enjoyed this little brief break from fiction. Dimension of Miracles by Robert Sheckley is a very Douglas Adams-style Sci-Fi adventure written before Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy. Whereas the humour and grand philosophical ideas were well intertwined in HGttG, this book did struggle sometimes to blend the two in a seamless way so you often had to wait for the philosophical exposition to be over before the humour picked up again. I still enjoyed it though. And To Be Taught, If Fortunate by Becky Chambers was a beautiful, brilliant short story. Chambers is definitely one of my favourite authors and this novella is full of her typical humanity and wit. With characters pit against the grander scale of the universe whilst showcasing their personal lives.
