I say this as someone who obviously opposes the Vietnam war, the war in Afghanistan, and the current war in I/p, but I think a lot of Americans including one I was just talking to haven’t got a lot of comprehension that it sure took the uS a lot longer than five months for public opinion to shift strongly away from supporting any of the above, but furthermore - we dont fucking KNOW what the us gov or us public would do or support if they had a hostage crisis with hundreds of us civilians being held by the viet cong or taliban or Sinaloa cartel for months on end, with significant evidence of that group committing sexual assault, within kilometers of where Americans lived. This is not an equivalent thing thing that has ever happened to the us and for the sake of world peace we can be glad it never has, but it’s truly beyond our comprehension what the US (or uk or Canada and such) might do

I'm not in the mood to argue, so I put the full post in the drafts, these are the first couple of paragraphs. Since people are so annoyed with me for standing by my anti-zionist views. Here's an example of why.

Israel's Minister of Defense talked about a stricter blockade on Gaza, a complete siege. No electricity, no food, no water, no fuel. He said "We're fighting human animals." This is the kind dehumanizing language that you'd see perpetuated by genocidal regimes. And it's not my first time hearing it.

You could argue that he means Hamas and not Palestinians as a whole, but, first of all, aiming dehumanizing language with plausible deniability is common practice when you want to avoid opening yourself to criticism. And second, we're punishing all people in Gaza, so they're all either guilty by association or they're acceptable casualties of this collective punishment.

Israel will boast surgical precision to its military, and then pull this off. Again, NO WATER. The people in Gaza won't be able to drink. What are we depriving Hamas of, in the name of self defense? Water guns?

elons' rockets have been environmental disasters for the land, animals, and people that the toxic chunks rain down on, and his money has been made through deeply unethical financial exploitation over a lot of markets that were made measurably worse by his participation.

also, a shit ton of the funding is from the american military industrial complex, because they want to use the technology to make better drones and missiles to kill more people more often. even if everything actually went to plan and he was able to get people to mars alive, the mars settlement project will involve generations of indentured service workers dying of radiation poisoning in sealed little bunkers on another planet while rich tourists fuck around for funsies.

it's extremely funny that the rockets go boom, but the best case scenario is he never gets to fire another one ever, dies very soon, and his assets are chopped up by competitors who never again recreate any of his work.
