Here’s my little food for thought. If this upsets you, please look away! You don’t have to interact with me if you’d rather not see it 👍
Okay, I think some people on Twitter, hmmm
Why are some of them making this about q!Foolish and q!slime? I think some people are misinterpreting and assuming q!bad is being played the fool, but really, his grievances is more about being seen as a tool? Maybe they’re upset because that’s what their characters are going through? But they’re also ignoring other things q!bad did for said characters.
Sure he said some off things with q!slime and arguably pranks q!foolish a lot, but he also helps give them so many things, I don’t understand why people say he deserves this karma? I mean, q!slime did try to kill all the eggs before, his egg included. In rp, wouldn’t you be upset if someone did that? Q!bad usually tries to lean into rp whenever he plays on the server. He words were terrible sure, but he gave q!slime a full deck of maxed out armour and a backpack for basically free once, just because he felt bad for him. Even went on a little adventure to cheer him up. I understand that maybe q!slime viewers didn’t see this because it was on another persons stream and slime wasn’t streaming but that doesn’t mean it didn’t happen.
He helps to take care of Leonarda for q!foolish, and this isn’t to say q!Foolish is a bad parent, he’s a great parent! But it’s just that, so many people are saying q!bad deserves this law against him for wronging q!foolish? Land duo are just different in my opinion, they know when to push and when to stop, and it’s their thing. Q!BBH pulls pranks, but never really with the intent of permanent damage or significant damage. They’re almost always easily removed. Q!foolish calls q!bad names and they argue but that’s how they work. But if you want to argue their interactions a little, q!foolish also does leave and expect q!BBH to take care of his egg. There was even a weekend where q!BBH explained he would’ve liked a heads up, and q!foolish just said he already kind of expected q!bad would do it anyways. And there have been times where q!bad would ask for some thank you’s from q!foolish, for taking care of Leonarda at times, to which they banter and it never happened.
But this isn’t really about q!slime and q!foolish, so I don’t understand why people are so insistent in bringing up Bad’s wrongs with these two people? When this is his grievance. Saying he deserved it for the wrong he’s done with these two, when they’ve also done things that contribute to the build up on why he’d be upset? I’d rule out land duo personally, because I like to think they’re the only duo that can mess with each other and more or less understand, but if you’re going to bring it up, I’ll bring up my counter argument.
What his grievances is really about is starting to feel more like a tool, the government issues, and his relationship with q!forever. It’s about q!bbh, so why rope those two into this???
They say q!BBH treated them badly, so he deserves this. Q!slime tried to murder every egg after Juanaflippa died. Did he succeed? No. Does he regret it? Ye. No harm done yeah? But he did try to kill a lot of eggs, and the intent was definitely there, even if he’s apologetic of it later on. Do people have to forgive him straight away cause the intent was there, even if he was grieving and upset? I don’t think so. If q!slime did the same thing recently, people would be a lot more upset, seeing as to how they reacted when q!forever striked Leonarda during an intense moment.
I guess maybe it gives people more insight on the wrongs of q!bbh? Hmmm… But it kind of just feels at one point that people just don’t want to hear out his character at all, and just go ahead inserting other characters to discredit how q!BBH is being fleshed out. It feels a little unfair because when slime was upset, people were happy to support him, even so far as having six people defending him (q!BBH included) for attempted murder? And q!foolish lore where he felt isolated because of the pac and Mike arresting and being stuck in the nether. That lore was okay, and is appreciated. Why not this one?
I just don’t think it’s fair to call it karma? When all characters are a little morally grey. You can have favourites, but come on. And then saying he deserves it, despite the fact he helped out those two a lot as well. Feels a little in bad taste.
But this is again just my opinion, I’m not necessarily the best, and if you’d like to discuss, please do so politely! And if you disagree, just ignore this post and move on

I love roleplaying and lately the lack of partners has been very depressing. I found one perfect partner that actually made me feel things, and she disappeared. I don't blame her because I know firsthand how life can be. I have scoured the deepest darkest corners of the internet, of roleplaying apps, of Discord, and I cannot find anything 😭 this is literally my last ditch effort to find roleplay partners. I don't want to give up what I love, but I can't roleplay alone.
Amino is a hopeless cause. I have tried to go on there and advertise even after leaving the site, but most people can't even type a paragraph or only want realistic/slice of life roleplays which frankly Im sick of.
I have found a pretty decent server on Discord where you can advertise for all sorts of 1x1 roleplays, but the candidates are starting to become few and far between. Most people hate romance or don't want to do any pairing other than MXM. Im sorry the majority of my characters are hetero, damn it 😭😭
I'm sorry for ranting but this is ridiculous. A lot of my roleplays contain NSFW themes like gore, violence, s*x, tragic back stories, angst, explicit scenes, and more. You can't advertise for shit like this on Amino because if you put "mature content" they flag your post. It's so stupid. I'm tired of people wanting platonic, sfw roleplays. How is that any fun? S*x isn't the main focus of my roleplays but it's the thrill of the slow burn romance and the build up that makes my heart pound and the sweat begin.
So all of this being said, I pinned a roleplay ad on my page, take a look if you want, read it THOROUGHLY and maybe we can plan something out. I don't ghost, Im great at communication and I'm an author in real life so you won't have to worry about lackluster responses unless Im sick or otherwise noted.
I know there is someone out there who feels the same way I do. I can feel it in my 27 year old bones. If you are looking for someone who literally thinks of the roleplay to get through their day at work, someone who sobs at the pain and sorrow our characters feel, someone who attributes entire PLAYLISTS to our roleplay, someone who can play and loves playing multiple characters of multiple races and genders, please please look no further. I am here!!!
Literally all you have to do is read my pinned post or comment on this one and I promise I will dm. These are desperate times, my friends. I am counting on tumblr to be my one saving grace. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

it's rough when a group server has a group chat area that allows for characters to develop friend/relationships outside the slower-paced rp areas, because if you don't have time to participate it's like everything moves at light speed around you & you miss out. your character doesn't get to develop their relationships at nearly the speed others are, so they end up left in the dust.

Do you know what I love, people you wrote a really good Rp, thought you were online friends. Unfriending you, just wow… makes me really really upset. So thanks to all those people, thank you for making me doubt our online friendship. Just have the balls to actually tell me

I’ve tried to keep my silence about this issue. The last thing I want to do is create another one of these types of posts, but I’m sorry, I can’t stay silent anymore. There are some nasty people on here!
I used to have two different child muses on my roleplay blog. Well today, I made the decision to remove those characters from the blog.
Why you may ask?
Pedophiles.
I cannot tell you the amount of sexual messages I got about my child muses!
I feel sick!

I’ll be honest i HATE the way the QSMP fanbase is treating Gegg and Tallulah. Like Gegg literally just appears, bro hasn’t done a single thing and people start talking about how they want him to die 😭 ?? And Tallulah starts feeling insecure trough no fault of Gegg and the Gegg tag just EXPLODES with hate. I’m a big petty baby and i don’t like seeing /neg in the tags bro. It just kinda feels like tallulahs the golden child who can do no wrong and Geggs the scapegoat who’s blamed for everything, and i feel like people are already taking it too far

i love it when bad is very specifically a good roleplayer by giving other people good prompts. like casually bringing up wilbur now to tallulah. or when he put missa in the petting zoo. or all those times he Tormented the Lesbians so they could protect each other from him. its just so !!!! I love watching roleplayers be considerate of other roleplayers and gleefully hand over something they Know the other person's character can react to. i've seen cellbit do it, too (that time he handed his knife to bbh. oh my god). it's not a rare thing, and it's possible to be a good roleplayer without keeping that sort of considerate back and forth in mind, but its one of my favourite things to notice. foolish does it too, sometimes- i haven't watched him much, but i did take note of when he Made Sure to bring jaiden along with him on a cucurucho quest. and basically every interaction he had with bad when the eggs were missing. its just so so good

Motherfucker I did not see someone in Slime's chat say that BBH hates roleplay wtf
If anyone says BBH isn't a roleplayer then they straight up do not know him in the slightest, I am sorry.
Like in fact i'd argue he is up there as the biggest fucking roleplayers in this server like this man has spent months setting up a story full of mysteries and build up.
He literally spent an entire stream roleplaying his character's breakdown

Grouchy rant/Audio roleplay pet peeve: I lose it when a character's description based on exposotion/backstory doesn't actually align with their actual on-screen actions. This is especially bad with Listener characters because a lot of VAs/writers just don't know how to write Listener action, or neglect to let Listener characters interact with anyone other than their love interest.
It's so aggravating. A character will be like "This is my fiance, Demon-Stomper 9000 (but I call her Pookie). She's stomped a hundred demons and she's gonna stomp a hundred more. Sometimes I've gotta be like 'woah Pookie, you've gotta stop stomping so many demons, you might hurt yourself'."
Then when a demon is actually on screen Pookie is just like 🧍‍♀️
On my soul, give the Listener some *flavor* and let them DO SOMETHING. On screen! It doesn't even have to be in action scenes, like just for fucks sake show don't tell for once. It's very much possible within the realm of audio roleplay, it just takes a little bit of thinking and a couple of sound effects. Trust me, you'll accomplish more characterization with five minutes of them actually doing something than you would with a hundred hours of expositional backstory.
This happens with speaker characters too, and it's awful. The title of the series will be like "Mafia Boss: Criminal Chronicle [Strangers to Lovers]" then in the actual audios the mafia boss never actually commits any crimes or involves himself in anything illegal and doesn't even talk about crime. He just wears expensive suits and has a really deep voice.
Quick rule: if the audience could listen to the full length of a mafia audio and not be able to tell that the character was in a criminal organization, you didn't make a mafia audio. You just didn't, idgaf what the title says. Image watching a whole episode of the Sopranos without crime being mentioned even once. It would suck. Same with werewolves, vampires, or whatever other trope is getting abused this week.
IDK why this is such a problem in the audio roleplay medium compared to every other medium ever. We've got mafia bosses that don't commit crimes, we've got werewolves who don't turn into wolves, we've got pirate captains who don't commit piracy, we've got vampires who don't drink blood, and we've got yanderes who don't, uh, yander. It's out of control. Just commit to the character type you said you would write in the first place.
This was way longer than I intended it to be so TL;DR: Show don't tell still applies in audios, Listener characters can and should take an active role in the story, and please PLEASE stop marketing your characters around tropes that you neglect to actually write into your audios.

It's Time
Ok, this song. (This post might be a bit heavy)
Usually, near the end of a musical, there is a quiet, reflective number before the bombastic finale. This is often the final straw for a large percentage of the audience, who find themselves brought to tears by the rest of the story, and this just catalyses it.
Stray Gods: The Role-Playing Musical has two of such songs. Adrift Reprise, and It's Time. I have already done some analysis on the former of those, but It's Time, I left for last.
Let me explain.
SPOILERS AHEAD
Tumblr media
One of the strengths of Stray Gods is its connection. This is a story about a young adult trying to find her place and her purpose. She is adrift, with so many places to go, and she looks to her elders for advice. Surely, they have their lives figured out. Right? But no. I think Apollo says it best at Aphrodite's party.
"We get older, we have more to forget. We hold grudges longer. But wiser? No, not so far."
Stray Gods pulls on very real emotions in its audience, very few people in the audience know where they are going, or what their life will lead them to. So, the themes of fate and choice in this musical become more pertinent. You cannot know what your future will hold without it feeling like a burden, but you can make choices. Good or bad, you can always choose.
This is what the Adrift Reprise number is all about. But there is another almost universal experience that this story hits you with. An emotion that It's Time centres around. Loss.
Tumblr media
The vast majority of humans have lost someone at someone close to them at some point in their lives. As you get older, the chance of this happening only increases. It's an unfortunate fact about being mortal. And here's the thing, in Stray Gods, mortality and immortality are not mutually exclusive.
Everyone in this story is mourning, either the loss of Calliope, or the old Hermes, or Hephestus, or the gods who have gone missing. These idols can live forever, but they can also not. The idols are humans, but more. More powerful, more magical, more experienced, but also more fragile, and more weak, and more weird.
Tumblr media
Persephone's relationship with Calliope is subtle at first, but once you notice it, you see it everywhere. From the portrait of Calliope in Persephone's office, to the anger at her murder, to the immediate switch from avenger to protector the second she clocks on to Grace actually being Calliope's chosen successor.
So, when they finally meet in the underworld, this can either be an aha moment or a surprise, and either works.
Tumblr media
"So many years of history,
The fights, the highs, the miseries,
I'm so proud of you, but it's time to go."
"I never truly saw before,
how trapped we were, how far from shore,
great at the time, but now it's time to go"
In a single verse, two stanzas, this song summarises what could possibly be a centuries long relationship. Tumultuous, but real. For all of their faults, there is a love there. You can see why the relationship broke down, and you know Persephone and Calliope well enough at this point to infer a few more details about that. But you also know that looking back, the connection is still there.
I also want to point out that nautical metaphor again. It links back to Adrift and gets referenced in just about every other song. But the difference now, is who it is aimed at. Usually, Grace is the one being called out for drowning in choices or something similar, but now its Persephone realising just how far out she is, and looking back on her relationship with Calliope, only now can she see where she went wrong. Maybe, if Calliope was still alive, she and this new Persephone could work things out. Now that Persephone isn't obsessing about that throne and can actually admit fault.
Tumblr media
The tragedy is that we will probably never get to find out. Because Calliope is dead, and you can't change that.
But what about something you can change?
Tumblr media
@ohnoitstbskyen has a phenomenal video titled Grief In Art, which I highly recommend you check out. In it, he gives the following summary of the emotion:
"Grief comes with anger, with emptiness. It comes with loneliness and exhaustion and a dozen other complex and multifaceted feelings that all intermix and grind against each other. That's part of why it can be so overwhelming."
I am willing to bet that this isn't a foreign concept to a large percentage of Stray Gods' audience.
Tumblr media
So, tell me, if you were given the chance to bring back a lost loved one, would you take it? It's a complicated question. But if, right now, I told you I could bring back your mother or brother or friend, would you say yes? What price would be too steep? What is the value of a human life? How much would you give?
Personally, I would say yes. To me, every life is unquantifiable, and I would give anything for just a conversation with certain people.
But what about Grace? And what about Freddie?
Tumblr media
There are two ways you can come at It's Time in the musical. Well, three actually, but we'll get there in a moment. You either are following the romance storyline with Freddie, or you are not. And from what I can tell, this song makes no distinction between the two. You bring your own baggage.
"It was quick and so was I,
I was not prepared to die.
But Grace, I choose this,
And I know you'll get by."
Tumblr media
Do you bring Freddie back from the dead? It's possible, and you'd get your happy ending. You can, but should you? That much is up to you.
Actions have consequences, that's kind of the thesis of this story. One consequence of Grace's actions was the death of Freddie. You can undo that, if you want.
Tumblr media
I have played through this game a fair few times at this point, and at this moment, I have gone through both options. If you were to approach this as a simple, numerical question, the answer would be obvious. There is no physical benefit in the game to either decision, so you should do what Freddie says and let her stay dead. The reason this is such a difficult choice is because of the humanity in it.
You know the right choice, to let Freddie stay dead, to not go against her wishes, to not give her the eidolon. Freddie says she is content with her decision, so you should go with that, right?
But are you strong enough to make that choice? I know I wasn't the first time I played this game.
Tumblr media
There is one other element that complicates this, and it's fascinating to me. Because that third approach to this song is retrospect.
What if you have played this game before and brought Freddie back? Then you get Freddie's love confession, and it changes the entire story. It's prophecy, like Apollo warned us about. You know the fate you are trying to achieve, so you take actions against yourself to try and thwart it, essentially locking yourself in that path, whether you like it or not.
Does the promise of a happy ending change your choices here?
Tumblr media
Final Thoughts
There is a reason I left this song until last. It's one of those songs in musical theatre that brings a tear to my eye every time I watch it or listen to it. The instruments, the melody, the fact that this is the only time Grace ever says "Farishta". Everything about this song is amazing.
Next week is my final roundup for Stray Gods, and as a quick reminder, I am putting out a request for your analysis, be it musical or artistic or lyrical. Send me a message, or comment, reblog this post, and I will try to include as many as I can (credited to you, naturally) in the final analysis to build a big picture of what everyone thinks of this musical.
So, stick around if that interests you.
