"THIS POOL OF PROTOPLASM HE HAD STUMBLED INTO GAVE HIM THE ABILITY TO CHANGE HIMSELF INTO ANY SHAPE..."
PIC INFO: Spotlight on preliminary sketch art and/or character art of Clayface, a figure of Batman's Rogues Gallery and member of the Legion of Doom, artwork by Alex Ross for the "Justice" maxi-series published by DC Comics, c. 2005-'07.
ORIGIN: "Matthew Hagen was a treasure hunter, seeking antiquities on land and below sea level that could propel him into fame and fortune. During one of his dives, he came upon a cavern that defied explanation. There was no treasure to be found there. Instead, he found himself trapped in a type of clay that ultimately transformed him into something like the multicolored clay itself.
Hagen found that this pool of protoplasm he had stumbled into gave him the ability to change himself into any shape he could conceive. He could duplicate the color, texture, and abilities of the form he chose. Hagen knows nothing of hand-to-hand combat, and he is beyond the need to know such things.
But for all that he might have become, now that he could become anything, he could not quiet his restlessness, his need to be more than he was. Yet he has never become more than a petty criminal."
-- BATMAN, from Bruce Wayne's Private Files in the Batcomputer (script by Jim Krueger)

Micah should have contracted TB from Arthur
If Arthur got TB from his encounter from Thomas Downes, there ain't no reason why Micah couldn't have contracted TB from the fight with Arthur.
Whether or not you go with John or go back for the money, during the climax of your fight with Micah, Arthur coughs up blood in Micah's face and in his mouth or alternatively in the go for the money ending, since Arthur was stabbed with his own knife, his blood is on it and if you had high honor, Arthur can cut Micah’s eye out. So Arthur’s blood will be in Micha’s wound. So either way, Micah gets TB. Arthur. Then Arthur laughs and when Micah asks what's so funny, Arthur says "Nothing, Black Lung." Since TB can take years to develop, in the epilogue John finds Micah and he's whimpering, coughing mess and barely alive. Then you can choose to kill him or let the disease take him.
Micah's death didn't need to be this grand wild western shootout at Mount Hagen. To me it would've been more impactful if in a technicality, Arthur killed Micah. And honestly? The rat spent an entire chapter mocking Arthur's affliction calling him Black Lung., it would've been poetic justice for him to die of the same disease and die a slow agonizing death. And it fits with the theme "revenge is a fool's errand" and John's mistake on looking back. It would've been better than what we got. Also John seeing Dutch kind of takes away the impact of seeing him in 1911.
Just imagine. John arrives at the top of Mount Hagen. There is no final stand between John and Micah. John sees the snake withering and unable to change it's skin. Micah can barely hold a gun and is demanding he put him out of his misery. Gloating about Arthur. Gloating about Susan and laughing about how he destroyed their family. "I did it for the money. There is nothing but survival, scarface" and John is given the choice. Kill him or leave him to rot. Killing him is the honorable thing to do and leaving him to slowly die is the low-honor thing to do. If John leaves him, he can just say "I don't have to kill you, you're already dead." and leave behind his past until Ross comes calling.

Gordon Michaels was born in Detroit, Michigan. His father is of Italian, Irish, and Jewish decent and his Mother is of Cuban ancestry. Michaels spent most of his youth in Michigan and graduated from John Glenn High School where he played basketball for the Junior Varsity and Varsity teams and still holds the school record for most rebounds in a game (27). As a teenager, Michaels spent a lot of after school time practicing and performing as lead singer for his Detroit garage band Flash Experience. The group performed at some high school events as well as various venues around metro Detroit. Michaels love for both writing and performing music is something very close to his heart. In fact, he's written a number of songs over the years and looks forward to taking them into the studio to record.
After attending a performance of a community theater production of Man of La Mancha, Michael's was stung by the acting bug. In 1986 Michaels became a graduate of the prestigious Neighborhood Playhouse School of the Theater in New York City where he studied under world renowned acting teacher Sanford Meisner. Michaels spent a number of years under the tutelage of Uta Hagen and Herbert Bergoff at the renowned HB Studio in New York City.
In addition to writing, producing, and staring in the film Unbeatable Harold, which featured Henry Winkler, Phyllis Diller, Charles Durning and Dylan McDermott, Michaels can also be seen in the Miramax released, This Must Be The Place with Sean Penn, Fox Searchlight's Conviction with Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, Love and Honor with Liam Hemsworth, Warner Bros Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Some of Michaels other film credits include; Out of the Furnace with Christian Bale and Woody Harrelson, Hostel Part 3, Street Kings Motor City, The Cooler, Joe Dirt, Seduced by a Thief, Leaving Las Vegas, and Gifted Hands, with Cuba Gooding, Jr.
Michaels is also recognized for his work on ABC's award winning legal drama The Practice, and can be seen in the up-coming feature Escape Plan 2: Hades with Sylvester Stallone and Dave Batista. Michaels is founder and President of the motion picture company Brandon Street Films, an independent production company dedicated to creating an artistic home for filmmakers.

That list includes, Mick Jagger, David Bowie, Diana Ross, Don Imus, Bill Gates, Michael Jackson, Leonard Bernstein, Luciano Pavarotti, Madonna, Fernando Botero, Rudy Giuliani, supermodel Iman, Tommy Hilfiger, Jim Belushi, and James Taylor.

"Melinda" (1972) is an action-crime-drama directed by Hugh A. Robertson, who was the editor of the 1971 classic, "Shaft." This movie features Calvin Lockhart in the prime of his acting career, and his screen presence is as ever dominant. In addition, one of the most underrated actresses from the 70s, Vonetta McGee, appears in the film as Melinda. This movie was McGee's 7th film, and she had already garnered some success from films like "Blacula," "The Lost Man," and "The Great Silence." Afterward, she continued her lucrative career in several Hollywood movies with many versatile roles.
Trivia Question: Which other male actors played alongside Vonetta McGee?
"Melinda" is an excellent movie with a solid cast. The film's writer, Lonne Elder III, is also responsible for writing the prolific movie "Sounder." He also has two hard-to-find films we seek: "Ceremonies in Dark Old Men" (1975) and "Sounder, Part 2" (1976). Both films were T.V. movies. Elder also had a role in "Melinda" as Lt. Daniels.
Jerry Peters and Jerry Butler are responsible for producing the film's soundtrack. It's a good mix of funk and soul, with mostly instrumentation throughout the album. It's definitely above average, so make sure you listen to it. You will not be disappointed.
"Melinda," while not one of the most celebrated black films from the 1970s, still deserves recognition as a good film. It checks off most of the components of an ideal movie. I recommend this movie for viewing.
Director: Hugh A. Robertson Writers: Lonne Elder III (screenplay by), Raymond Cistheri (story by)
Starring Calvin Lockhart, Rosalind Cash, Vonetta McGee, Paul Stevens, Jim Kelly, Rockne Tarkington, Renny Roker, Lonne Elder, Ross Hagen, Jan Tice
Storyline Frankie J. Parker (Calvin Lockhart), a smooth-talking disk jockey, finds Melinda Lewis (Vonetta McGee) brutally murdered in his L.A. apartment. He turns detective to clear his name. Chased and attacked by junkies, dealers, and thugs, Frankie soon learns Melinda is the ex-mistress of a Chicago mobster and has evidence the gangster wants back. Enlisting the aid of a jealous ex-flame (Rosalind Cash) and a karate master from the hood (Jim Kelly, in his screen debut), Frankie sets out to track down the mob boss who framed him and avenge Melinda's death.
