accidentally ended up rewatching the last two eps of doafp instead of working on my midterm and ohhh boy do i miss this show

okay so this post gave me an idea about doafp if it had been continued

okay so in an interview (i can't find it rn) ilana peña said that if there had been a season 3 it would have had a time skip so that elena was in freshman year but tbh i don't like that idea so much bc it ended on the cliffhanger about student rep elections and that should be followed up on and anyway that would have probably been because the cast was older than the characters but i mean the show's been cancelled so that doesn't matter

elena's plot: elena and emilio would have become student rep together. they'd make a great team and elena would learn a lot about letting someone else take control (okay she already learned that in the s2 group project episode but still). her and emilio would start a romance. maybe they'd work out, maybe they'd notice they work better as friends. she'd definitely have more moments with sasha, jessie and melissa.

bobby's plot: dating cj but still having feelings for liam. near the end of the season he'd break up with cj and the season would end with a rain scene fight/confession with liam

gabi's plot: this is what inspired this whole post - at the beginning of the season, her and sam would take a trip just the two of them and cami would look after bobby and elena. on the trip, sam would propose and gabi would have complicated feelings about it. she'd say she needs time to think about it and he'd be hurt but would understand. she then says yes but doesn't know how to tell the kids. she tells cami but tries to keep it a secret from bobby and elena. they would find out accidentally, like in season 1 when they both saw gabi and sam and they wouldn't mind the marriage thing but they, or at least elena, would be hurt she didn't tell them. but they would need some time to process it and they wouldn't be completely okay with it. now i had another idea. and that is that gabi's mom dies. and it's a day before the wedding. so gabi calls the wedding off. and that all happens in the season finale

had a dream that i was watching some new disney sitcom when sam doafp's actor showed up, and i was like 'oh hey i know that guy.' but then they actually called him sam and then bobby and liam showed up too and it turned out to be some sort of crossover episode. and like, even in my dream i was a little annoyed that they'd bring back the whole cast to be in a show that wasn;t even theirs. like come on i dont care about these new characters just give me season 3

Hey guys remember when we got 4 seasons of doafp and were renewed for a 5th because Disney would never cancel a show as good as this one. And Elena and Emilio tied and started working together and confessed their feelings for each other and we got more flash forwards and we had the super awesome and amazing lesbian wedding and Gabi and Sam got engaged at the end of season 3. And Bobby and CJ had cute couple moments but ended their relationship, peacefully of course and they decided to still be friends and then Cartero became a thing. And the Fandom grew a lot

Oh and all of the other characters were also super cool yeah like why would Disney cancel this show after season 2 that would've been a terrible and super bad idea

3 favorite headcanons: CARTERO CANON!!!! but also Elena meeting CJ, AND Elena finding out about whatever Bobby and Liam have going on lol

3 least favorite things about it: THAT IT GOT CANCELED, LIKE WHYYYYYYYY??????? Besides that, nothing because it's a wonderful yet VERY UNDERRATED show so go pick it up besties :)

Favorite character: Bobby! I adopted him as my son ever since he filled that grocery bag with pennies in the first episode and when it broke he just went "Should have double bagged it" all chill. Then his storyline discovering his sexuality and "process" was just soooooo good oh my gosh

Least Favorite character: that jerk who put worms in Bobby's bag idr his name

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): Tennis Boyfriends (Bobby x Liam), Fairy Gay Mothers (Cami x Danielle), Hetero Goals (Gabi x Sam), 6 O'Clock Girlfriends (Elena x Belinda), and whatever the Elena x Emilio ship is called I'm so salty we didn't get to see them develop in season 3

Character I find most attractive: hmm probably Camila

Character I would marry: not sure, maybe Danielle? she's very chill and I can't deal with high energy people for too long

Character I would be best friends with: Gabi! And she wouldn't even have to pay me ;)

a random thought: I really wanna rewatch this show soon, I miss it

An unpopular opinion: I don't care if some people find Elena annoying or dramatic or whatever else she's a realistic kid!!

I've finally watched finished all 2 seasons of diary of a future president and I HAVE SO MANY EMOTIONS SO IF YOU DON'T WANT SPOILERS SCROLL AWAY

Ok first and foremost, BOBBY IN SEASON 2!!! I DID NOT THINK I COULD LOVE THIS BOY ANYMORE THAN I DID IN SEASON 1 *BUT THEN SEASON 2 HAPPENED* I love his journey with his sexuality so freaking much, I sobbed when he came out to Elena and subsequently teared up everytime he came out to someone else. Simply putting it, I love him and I will protect this precious bean with my life.

AND CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE LOVE TRIANGLE FOR A SECOND??? I'm gonna need cartero stans and cjbobby stans to come on here and tell me why their ship is superior because I CAN'T DECIDE THEY'RE BOTH SO DAMN CUTE!!! Like I went into season 2 being a full-blown cartero stan AND THEN *CJ* CAME INTO THE PICTURE. And just as I was settling into the cjbobby ship bcs they cute cute, S2EP10 HAPPENED. LIKE HELLO? THE FRENCH RESTAURANT "DATE"? THE LOOK BACK? Clearly Liam isn't just an ally, and cartero is looking very much endgame rn, but I don't wanna jinx anyth, and as much as I love cartero I have a soft spot for cjbobby now so pls lemme know what u think.

Oh and of course, we can't forget THE CJBOBBY KISS. Idc if ur a cartero shipper, THAT SHIT WAS CUTE, TOP TIER DISNEY KISS. I will be obsessing over that for days tyvm.

Now let's talk about dear Elena. I love her, and I love her storyline this season. The way it shows how she's growing up, transitioning into teenagehood. I definitely saw abit of my 13 year old self in her, I could really relate to some of the mistakes she made. She's just growing so much as a character, and we love to see it. Also, her frn grp? Girl bosses, absolute girl bosses.

Can I just say that I called Elena and Emilio? As soon as I saw Emilio I KNEW it was gonna be a thing, shipped it right from the start baby. I've never been a big fan of Joey anyway, just didn't get a good vibe from him. Thank god they're not canon. My theory is that next season, Emilio and Elena will both be student reps, and will have to work together which would totally set up their romantic storyline really well.

Gabi and Sam. I love Gabi and Sam. They have such a healthy relationship, full of communication and love. It's the kind of relationship I'd want to have one day. I love how Sam had just been trying to find his space in the family, and finally found it. And not to mention how cool the kids were about it. No toxicity or anything, just love in a healthy household.

I DEMAND WE SEE CAMI AND DANIELLE'S WEDDING NEXT SEASON. I DON'T CARE HOW IT HAPPENS, IT JUST NEEDS TO HAPPEN. NO AND IFS OR BUTS.

Where did Claude go? Like, there was an explanation for Ziggy's departure at least, but Claude was there for an episode or two and poof he's just gone? And especially since the show put so much emphasis on how close Sasha and Claude were, it's a bit strange how he just dipped, even if it's stated that they are still together.

Yeah, I think that about covers everything. I did not expect to love this show as much as I did, but here I am. FINGERS CROSSED FOR A SEASON 3! Now it's time to drown myself in fanfiction while we await the renewal.

I think everyone who likes JaTP will definitely LOVE Diary Of a Future President. The show follows the life of Elena Cañero-Reed, played by Tess Romero, through her transition to middle school, and discusses topics such as losing a parent, going through major changes, losing (and regaining) friends, and there are a couple openly gay characters too! The main cast are relatively close to their characters age and they're all amazingly talented and so close with each other, and the show feels so relatable and natural because of the chemistry everyone has with each other.

i feel like doafp is literally the perfect family show bc it just shows everyone's side of the story in family conflict??

like this season we saw

- elena growing apart from her mum and wanting to be closer with her friends and make her own decisions. she genuinely felt bad but it is helping her develop into her own person as a teenage girl

- gabi struggled with this as she didn't want to let go of her little girl who she felt so close to. it's frustrating for elena but you can also see how gabi wants her to become her own person too it's just a big transition for her too and she has to learn her new role in elena's life

- bobby doesn't feel like he can tell his mum anything bc she always makes a big deal about it. but in his own time he will

- sam stepping into a parenting role and trying to figure out where he fits in. he doesn't want to overstep but he wants to help his partner out. he wants to know what label fits him now and he wants to do everything right as a parent but it's confusing and hard to know the best reaction in the moment

i feel like this would help families with kids this age really understand each other and help create more communication
