Plotwise Harry Styles in his second film of the festival season after last week’s Venice debut of Don’t Worry Darling, plays British policeman Tom who is befriended by lively museum curator Patrick (David Dawson), as well as a shyer school teacher Marion (Emma Corrin, also in a second fest movie this week after the debut of  Lady Chatterley’s Lover) who because of the times must contain her own growing sexual attraction to Tom. Eventually though, in the most proper of ways, Tom and Marion get married, not a loveless union but not a passionate one and one where Marion can’t seem to hold back her jealousy of the “friendship” between Tom and Patrick. With homosexuality illegal at the time, Patrick also has to watch himself but one day alone with Tom makes a move that leads to a very physical and steamy clandestine affair that both keep secret from Marion. It is a continuing game of deception even as Marion gets more increasingly frustrated, perhaps suspecting something but trying to win the kind of lover in Tom that just isn’t there. It certainly is for Patrick, and Dawson and Styles go for it with no holding back in a bedroom scene that leaves little to the imagination.
Between Don’t Worry Darling and My Policeman Styles is quickly proving himself to be the real deal as an actor, and he is very convincing here as a man lost in deception with his wife. Corrin made up in passion in Lady Chatterley’s Lover what is lacking in this subdued character who finally takes a stand but unfortunately so much time is lost between. Corrin certainly is showing lots of range these days.  Dawson is excellent in the sad position of simply being who he is in a time where being gay  is a crime. My how times have changed, but have they? With some openly  wanting to ban gay marriage again, My Policeman seems oddly timely in taking us back to darker days we thought were long gone.  Everett, McKee, and Roache are all fine as far as the contemporary scenes go but I actually wish they had aged up the younger trio of actors which might have made this all a tad bit more convincing.
It is a handsome looking production, and always kept my interest, but for me it doesn’t quite reach its full potential. Producers are Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schecter, Cora Palfrey, and Philip Herd are producers. Ben Davis provides some lovely cinematography, and the score by Steven Price is excellent. It will begin streaming on Amazon Prime beginning November 4, with a theatrical run starting October 21.

Though for very different reasons I feel like those of us who loved Jenny Schecter are the same who love Sarah Finley, you can't change my mind

tagged by @buffyjackets , ty for the tag! :3
RULES: list 8 tv shows to get to know me better! but im going to break the rules and list 10, because i cannot help myself. btw, #1 truly is #1, but the rest are not ordered in any particular fashion
bojack horseman. this might come as a surprise because i hardly ever rb anything about it but this is probably the show that has had the biggest impact on me as a person. i could go on and on and on and on about how meaningful this show is to me
buffy the vampire slayer. i watched it first when i was a preteen, but now i'm rewatching it and it really has a chokehold on me lol.
the wilds. im devastated that it was cancelled. i love those girls. rip my silly little island show
orphan black. rachel duncan you will always be famous <3 also helena, mika, beth, sarah, and krystal
killing eve. simply pretend season 4 does not exist, and everything is fine. season 3's finale actually is a really good ending
doctor who. like btvs, i watched this first when i was a preteen. unlike btvs, it did not take me until several years later for it to rewire my brain.
la casa de papel. i just like seeing a fucked-up found family doing crimes together lol
yellowjackets. something that almost all of the shows on this list have in common is that they contain fucked-up women. this show has a high concentration of them, so it's an easy pick
the L word. i'll be honest that i have not rewatched this since i was like 13, but i DO remember bits and pieces very well, and it has so many iconic characters & quotes. jenny schecter is so unpalatable and i love that for her
dead like me. this is a bryan fuller show from like 2002 about a girl who becomes a grim reaper. fuller is more well-known for hannibal and pushing daisies, but this is the one i was obsessed with as a teen. (i think there's also an episode of hannibal that's like...a stealth crossover or a shoutout to dead like me? idk i haven't seen hannibal.) it definitely uses some...outdated language...but i think it still otherwise holds up decently well. it's funny and profound and i love love love daisy adair with my whole heart.
tagging: uhhh i am being called away to watch btvs w/ my sibling lol. so, anyone who wants to do this, consider yourself tagged! also note that i fully broke the rules and it was supposed to be 8 shows.

After watching the promo I'm sure they made Sophie to be the Jenny of genQ
But at least Jenny had traumas and a mental illness to fault and explain her actions. Sophie is just someone who doesn't know what she wants and it's fine with playing with other people's feelings
Gz Dani, Gigi is right there!!!! Finley you deserve better too.

Why it would not make sense to bring more previous characters back to The L Word
I’ve read quite often, that people wish Jenny, Tina, Helena, Max or Tasha to come back. Ah yeah and not to forget: Sharmen.
Tumblr media
First off, when The L Word ran back in the days, everybody, yes e-v-e-r-y-b-o-d-y hated Jenny. I pesonally felt sorry for her for a long time, but even I lost my patience when Jenny started dating that movie starlet. Nobody could take it anymore.
Tumblr media
And Carmen was a nice and stunningly attractive character. However, Shane was never an interesting character when she was in a serious relationship. Her character is not designed for that. There are plenty of others, that work in a relationship for 1 or 2 seasons, but Shane doesn’t. I loved Sharmen together, but the 3rd season was the most boring of them all. And it is hard to admit, but it is because Shane needs to be Shane to be entertaining. The same applies to Shane and Paige.
Tumblr media
So, let’s come to Max. Max was always made an outsider by the others. Even by Shane and that was hard to watch. It is beautiful to see that the writers of The L Word have evolved to stories where transgender people are included. I celebrate them for this. Finally, thanks!
Tumblr media
Tasha: Ok, to my personal taste, Tasha was the hottest character in The L Word. However, she was a side character. So, the only way she could be in Gen Q would be as Alice’s longterm gf/wife. As I stated above, there are characters, that can be entertaining in a relationship for 1-2 seasons. Alice is definitely one of them. However, Alice and Tasha already overdrew with three seasons.
Tumblr media
I was never a fan of Tina. The first thing she said, when she entered a room was: “Oh, ehm, I’m sorry.” Tina was always sorry for her existence and she was always attached to Bette. Her entire role was designed to be with Bette, to be longing for Bette, after a breakup, to make Bette jealous, and so on and so forth. I mean, Tina was a good person, but I see no storyline that would be interesting for me. Also, when she is in a relationship with a man, she even gets too boring for her own friends. I mean... it is good, that her time is over, at least as a main character. And as it is already rumored, she will come back for two episodes.
Tumblr media
I need to admit that Helena would be funny for real. At the beginning, I did not like her. But she evolved to a funny to watch character, especially when she moved in with Alice. Also her time in prison was entertaining. And maybe that was a foretaste for OITNB. But, we have Dani now. So,... maybe that helps.
