#SaturdayThrowback: Last night (6/17/2022) was the first ever Capital District Digital Listen Up Awards show at Lark Hall. Put on by both RadioRadioX and Mirth Films, this casual music awards show was fun, relaxing, and aimed to return togetherness, fairness, & commaderie amongst bands, solo/duo acts, publications, and creatives who are out there making this 518 scene what it is!! I rocked out to “T.V. Doctors”, “Kyla Silk” & “Iko The Dog”, watched winners receive their awards, & hosts give inspirational speeches!! Ruth Pelham and the late Buck Malen received honorary awards!! I was on an energetic high coming home from the show!! Aliens may have invaded Lark Hall but it’s our music & creative community who will help bring each other up & help us all succeed..!!! PSA: MUSIC VENUES ARE IN DANGER.

small music venues are in SERIOUS danger right now thanks to the pandemic.  as some of the first businesses to close and likely the last to reopen, these venues are struggling.  local venues are extremely important because they serve as a cultural hub and a place of gathering, a place of love and community.  they serve as a home for small artists including musicians who make a living off of their music.  people working at these venues are struggling a lot as well.  

without these venues, communities are bleak.  in states like mine these shows are some of the only things we can even look forward to.  the local music scene saved my life, and i know it’s done the same for others.  this is a really hard time for these independent venues, and they need to be defended and recognized during this crisis.

if you have literally two seconds, go to saveourstages.com and the national independent venue association will guide you through contacting your representatives.  it takes almost zero effort but we all need to do our part in showing our support for independent venues.  and if you can, please spread the word as well.  this is incredibly important.

#MusicMonday: Today (5/23/2022) I’m recovering from a busy weekend at Saratoga Springs,NY. Saturday (5/21/2022) I acquired some concert tickets at SPAC for a few groups I want to see this year and went to Putnam Place to watch a three-bill concert from “Joe Mansman & The Midnight Revival Band”, “Dmitry Wild & The Spells”, and “The Erotics”. Yesterday (5/22/2022) was “Music on the Streets: 62nd Anniversary of Caffe Lena”. For 2 hours, I heard a plethora of live music from plenty of local acts within the Caffe Lena area with friends.
