A few weeks ago, I bit my lip really hard while having lunch. I keeled over in pain. And my daughter looks over at me with concern, then comes over to wrap her arms around me, nuzzling my arm. Am very happy it’s Friday because it truly has been one of those weeks. But even when nothing makes sense, and everything feels heavy and hard-I just think about that moment. One of the best experiences I’ve had as a mom. That feeling of “everything’s gonna be ok.” Because it will be. This past week has been...a lot. But it also taught me not to fixate on the small things. Like that dried up pimple scar at the corner of my mouth. Zoom in, if you’d like. This is ME! (Anyone else just start singing Greatest Showman? Just me? Ok cool.) No, but really, it was important to me to have a series of shots where I recognized myself in my everyday form and feel just as beautiful as when I have a full face of makeup on. So even with the dark circles, age spots, and gray hairs-I truly love this photo because it is so quintessentially me. Added bonus: wearing my favorite vintage tee ever which happens to have my daughter’s initials on it. Total coinkidink, because I got it ages ago, but I love it just the same.
