I present to you Gyakuten Saiban AU! Nobori and Kudari were separated after their parents divorced at a young age and each ended up growing up in different countries and lost contact for decades. They finally meet again as opponents as Lawyer Nobori and Prosecutor Kudari.

Elesa is in the role of Maya and can make contact with spirits using electromagnetic field or some sort of electricity magic. Drayden is in the role of Detective Gumshoe, except more competent, level headed and less comedic to balance out Prosecutor Kudari’s chaotic nature. After the mysterious death of their father, Uncle Drayden took Kudari in to raise when they failed to get in contact with the mother.

I have nothing intelligent to say I just wanna kick open your door and yell about how important to my gaming and fannish life the Breath of Fire series is and how utterly stroked I am that you also like them,

hell yeah another breath of fire fan!

the first one was far and away the most formative for me but i also loved the second one. the only snes game to make me feel real visceral horror in multiple places and also manage to make me cry like a baby, terrible translation and all

somehow in the shift to next gen i lost track of the series and never played 3 which is kind of wild considering its reputation? but i managed to snag a copy some years back and despite my best efforts i still have yet to beat it because the fishing minigame is just too damn addictive and it keeps derailing me. one day i will complete my roadtrip to go meet god and find out why she genocided my family (i mean. considering who she is, i can certainly guess!)

anyway it's so rare for me to meet a fellow bof fan, it's awesome to hear you like it too! i wish it wasn't essentially a dead series now, it was such a unique game with a lot of interesting features i haven't seen in other games. plus seeing each successive game showing less and less magic in the world, how each ryu and nina are weaker than the last and can do less and less with their powers than the previous ones, the old gods being forgotten and dying out, technology replacing spirituality more and more... man. there's just something about it

no art for this one, since it's more about my personal tastes vs character interaction (๑꒪̇⌄꒪̇๑)

but i have to say, since i really got into them after first playing pokemon black (and later black 2) back in the day, the game really is my favourite version

i still get most of my motivation to draw them from this concept art

just... they're so toony looking! i love it! look at their spooky eyes and big old clown shoes!

ingo is just so peppy and polite in the games, and emmet intimidated me a bit haha

though, i do also really like the manga versions, especially ingo's kitty mouth and emmet's robot walk -- i kind of just blend the game and manga versions together in my mind, they're one in the same at this point

i don't really watch the pokemon anime much, so i've never bothered much with their anime appearances -- i was bothered seeing ingo smile so much and emmet frown so much, so i just didn't watch it haha...

Dragon for the poke team meme!

Send me a pokemon type and I'll tell you what my team would be of just that type

Oh I love me some dragons. Let it be known I'm considering favorites first and that I will put one legendary in there. Just one though, a lot of legendaries are dragon type... Which actually reduces the pool of candidates a fair amount.

I'll definitely want a Dragapult, ghost/dragon is a great type and it looks amazing. A Garchomp as well, I love those shark guys. A Noivern, a Dragonair I won't actually evolve, and a Haxorus for some dark type moves. And obviously I'm putting Eternatus in there, I don't care if it can't even fit in a gym I am having it on my team no matter what.

The Dog Scene from The Super Mario Brothers Movie

First of all, this scene is the first time we get to see Mario do actual plumbing, and it establishes that this business isn’t just a pipe dream (ha ha). Mario is actually a really skilled plumber. He sees the problem, knows what to do in an instant, and wraps it all up in less than a minute. So later, when all of Brooklyn is flooded, and Mario laughs that the hired workers “aren’t even looking in the right place”, we can believe he knows what he’s talking about.

Then, comes trouble: Francis The Dog, Mario and Luigi’s first real adversary... a kind of tutorial boss fight. Foreman Spike was antagonistic, but he was all talk. He would bully, threaten, and get aggressive, but he wasn’t going to throw the first punch. Francis, however, is out for blood.

We see an echo of what happened earlier when they confronted Spike. Mario stands between Luigi and danger, pushing him back, ready to defend him. However, unlike Spike, Francis doesn’t walk away, he goes for the throat, and it throws both brothers off kilter. 

Luigi, while anxious and fearful, proves he’s not a man of mindless panic. When Francis comes at him he’s yelling for Mario’s help, but he himself is climbing to higher ground while grabbing the nearest available object (a toilet brush) to defend himself. This pattern continues for the rest of the movie: though he isn’t much of a fighter, his survival instincts are quite good. 

Mario, on the other hand, immediately turns combative when Francis goes after Luigi. He draws the dog’s attention, and they skirmish for a bit before Mario finally seals Francis off inside the shower. Mario is not exactly a warrior yet, but he definitely has good fighting instincts. 

Of course, let’s not forget Luigi holding off the jet of water with the mirror foreshadowing him holding back Bowser’s flames with the manhole cover. That’s been talked about before... I want to talk about THIS shot:

Mario is holding out a wrench like a sword, Luigi is holding up the mirror like a shield. That is them in a nutshell, and why they work so well together: they are sword and shield, offense and defense, impulse and caution, working together to balance each other out.

When Francis leaps at them, they instinctually hold on to each other for dear life, but still manage to duck out of the way at just the right moment as the dog accidentally flings himself out the window behind them. 

Despite the dog being a violent threat, he is also a beloved pet to the homeowners. So what does Mario do? He throws himself out the window after Francis. 

He trusts Luigi won’t let him fall, and he doesn’t. There was no time for a plan to be discussed, they were simply on the same wavelength. 

IN CONCLUSION: The dog scene is what introduces the audience to the very different ways Mario and Luigi react to danger. It also shows us how tight their bond is, and why they work off each other so well, even beyond the emotional support they provide each other. The one downside is that the scene hints at a really cool fighting dynamic that we didn’t have time to properly explore in the film. The next time Mario and Luigi are fighting side by side they’re effortlessly mowing down enemies with the power star, and the sword-shield dynamic is lost. But I’m very excited to see the future of how they work as a team now that we’ve established the setting and set the two up to become heroes.

Okay, bowuigi soulmate AU on the suggestion of @scribeprotra

(sorry not sorry it came out angsty)

Though most people in the world of the Mushroom Kingdom speak English, they use a different alphabet from the "real" world, so for most of his life Luigi has had no idea what the first thing his soulmate was going to say to him was. He and Mario both looked, for years, but never found anything that looked like the letters on the back of Luigi's hand. Eventually Luigi just resigned himself to being alone for the rest of his life.

(Mario doesn't have a soulmate, which is not uncommon in this universe. It's not really a big deal and people without soulmates follow what we'd consider a more "normal" pattern of dating. Luigi doesn't know, but Mario made the decision to put romance on the back burner so he could support his brother.)

Then they fell into a warp pipe and landed in a world where they could understand everyone, but not read the signs. Luckily Princess Peach is the kind of person she is, and took it upon herself to help them settle in and look for a way home. On one excursion she ends up kidnapped, and Mario decides since she was only out there because of them, it's their responsibility to save her!

It all leads to Mario and Luigi in Bowser's castle, and though Luigi was reluctant to fight a giant fire-breathing turtle dragon, when he sees his brother in trouble he chucks a loose brick at Bowser's head and shouts "Hey! Big guy!"

Bowser turns around, sees a figure with a moustache and a stupid hat, and roars "YOU!" before realizing there's two of them.

They rescue the princess, they're celebrated as heroes, and Luigi and Bowser both more or less forget they spoke at all (Bowser more, Luigi less).

Years pass, including a lot more fights, a few team-ups, and eventually the agreement to try a few friendly competitions to keep things civil. When Luigi discovered his soulmate mark was the local alphabet he was excited, at first, but he's already used to disappointment and he's conflicted about the exact word. Is it angry? Surprised? What if he's doomed to get off on the wrong foot with the person who's supposed to be his partner?

Then one day, at one of those friendly sporting competitions with Bowser and his team, Bowser spots Luigi making a note to himself and suddenly grabs him.

"What's that?"

"What's what?"

"What you're writing. Where did you learn that?"

"It's just how we wrote back where Mario and I grew up, it doesn't mean anything bad."

Bowser suddenly rips the collar off his throat and points at the writing there. "What does this say?"

It says Hey! Big guy! And though Luigi can't be certain (it's been YEARS) he has a horrible horrible feeling that the exchange between his soulmate words and Bowser's is very familiar.

Bowser seems completely oblivious to any of this and just starts asking Luigi where he's from and how to get there. Luigi doesn't even realize why Bowser is asking until he says "I don't know how to get back, Mario and I decided to stay here," and Bowser does NOT like that answer. Luigi can't bring himself to say what he's thinking. Maybe it's not true? Maybe Bowser is right and his soulmate is still waiting for him in Brooklyn?

Bowser talks to Peach after the match is over and says he's sorry but he's finally got a chance to find his real soulmate and he's going to have to end their flirtation. Peach, ever the diplomat, says she understands.

Time passes. Bowser is doing research on his own on how to cross between worlds. But for some reason he keeps coming by and asking Luigi about it. He says it's just to make things easier once he gets there, but after a while they start talking about other things. They start to become something like friends.

One day Bowser mentions how much it hurts to hope after all this time. About how he'd resigned himself to being alone for the rest of his life. Luigi almost confesses then, but he's afraid of how furious Bowser will be knowing that Luigi hid it from him all this time. How can he admit he didn't tell Bowser straight away because he didn't want him?

I know it is just you being silly but I am currently VERY fixated on the idea of genesect being a kleavor. Also brain is now being eaten by plot bunny of 'it is my hyper-specifc Lian lord kleavor and it has OPINIONS on everything'

listen the post was obviously a joke but i do legitimately think genesect is a kleavor. the body plans match up, much better than it does with kabutops (kabutops doesn't have genesect's abdomen, is the most striking difference) and people HAVE theorized that genesect is a scizor, the only issue being that metal coat, scizor's evolution item, is a recent invention. it being kleavor just makes sense. i know genesect's pokedex entry says it lived "300 million years ago" but maybe team plasma is just like, really bad at dating fossils. or they assumed it was a kabutops, having no other information to go off of, when in fact they were working with a kleavor the whole time.

oh yeah that's the other thing! this revived kleavor is now in team plasma's possession! and they gave it a cannon.
