To say I was nervous for this appointment is an understatement, I am finally 15 weeks, almost halfway there. The past few months have been pretty.. quiet. I don't have a ton of pregnancy complaints other than being forever tired and wanting to eat 24/7 but other than that, things feel great. I am starting to feel little butterflies in here which feels weird but the term "I'm pregnant" still doesn't feel real. Of course I know there is a little person in here, but I don't know at the same time. I promise I know that makes no sense but just pretend it makes sense.

Walking into the clinic felt strange, I was comfy and wore casual clothes but still felt like I stuck out like a sore thumb. A big headed, dark chocolate sore thumb to be exact. Dr. Cherry always had that welcoming smile that she gave me, I feel safe with her. Genuinely safe, I am happy to know she will be the one to help me bring this baby into the world in a few months. She's very kind, patient and thorough, I've never felt confused after an appointment with her. Moonlight Creek Medical is such a great clinic, it's very inviting and I feel at peace being at the facility.

After greeting my doc at the entrance, she took me to the room in the back with the ultrasound clinic, I stared at the lavender flowers that hung from the ceiling and sighed as I feel the fresh air in the room. I glanced at the bed and the machine in the corner of the room and just sighed as I took Cherry's hand and laid back. She had grabbed a bottle of the new Ultrasound Gel from Mamadeue and spread it across my tummy before booting up the machine. She took measurements of my little love and calmly said, "Your baby is looking beautiful and proportionate, would you like to know the gender?" Feeling a gasp of relief strike my face as I blurted out, "She's okay?" Dr. Cherry smiled as she looked at me, "You're correct, she is a she." Those were the words I was anxious about, my little girl is coming soon.

The Disaster of Natural Disasters

Really, it's a hot mess.

So I mentioned back in part two of my Unnatural review that I loathe natural disaster plots. Really there's a lot of reasons why, so let's dive into them. The first thing is that they've been overdone. Earthquakes, wild tempests and surging storms -- I'm just very over them. They don't really bring anything to the table other than, "OH NOES! IT'S HAPPENING!" Unless someone kills off their character during it, there's only a few that gets that character development. The second thing is that they never follow it up with something else. Urban supernatural is a genre that's rich in mystery and the esoteric. Maybe that earthquake was due to some secret shadow corporation or government testing some kind of weapon. Maybe that weapon test went dangerously awry, unleashing something that poses a risk for everyone. If you've ever played games like Control or The Secret World? You'll know exactly what I'm talking about. The third thing is that they usually happen on a whim. Very few of these events had any planning behind the scenes -- rather they were just done for the sake of having some kind of admin or storytelling activity. Usually when I've seen sims employ these types of events (Crescent Valley and some magic university sim that I can't remember)? The sim closes not too long after. The fourth reason is because sometimes people use real world tragedies as a plot device. This happens in several platforms and sub-communities -- I can't tell you how many potential RP partners I dropped because they were using COVID as character development during the height of the pandemic. The lack of tact and consideration has often made me VERY wary when people bring this sort of thing in. There are very few events, and plot devices for that matter, that have done these right. I mentioned both Control and The Secret World -- both use info-hazard contagions (The Hiss and The Filth respectively) that pose a risk for everyone, not just the main character (you). These contagions are otherworldly, shying completely away from the mundane -- and the storytelling between them was just as beautiful as it was horrific. Something that many urban supernatural sims lack. Until such a sim exists, I guess we'll just have to deal with the mundane slice of life sims that give the illusion of the supernatural.

First Interrogation ; The Words That Hurt Most

I tapped my fingers against the desk, annoyed and darting my eyes around the room impatiently for any sign of a sentient being entering the room, or even the sound of a squeak. It wouldn’t been dead silent without the eerie ambience, which I would have much preferred instead of this sense of dread in the air. Furrowing my eyebrows, I tapped my foot against the cement and glanced towards the door; letting my thoughts wander freely and considering…everything that’s happened in the past 48 hours or less.

I was annoyed, acting inconvenienced. Maybe it was because I had expected Es to be late due to the fact everyone complained they were late, and I already set my expectations lower than usual for someone like them.

Or.

Maybe because they were taking the most time to get here out of every single interrogation.

I was honestly starting to think it was intentional—they knew about my distrust and suspicion—and therefore they were trying to both piss me off and avoid me at the same time, which made me even more pissed.

Because, even though they looked like my younger cousin in both height and babyface, they had the attitude of a complete brat. It was getting ridiculous, as I’ve heard from several others (and….eavesdropping occasionally) they have found it in themself to be short-tempered and aggravate everyone within a 24 mile radius. It’s almost a talent of how they’ve pissed one of us off at least twice.

Of course, this was just my observation. An assumption, if you will. Because of their rather vague and often contradictory statements, I’ve taken to calling them “pheme”, much to their disliking. Did they know what it meant?…probably not. But that wasn’t the point.
