August 6th, Happy Birthday Cappy!

Cappy is one of the smallest hamsters in the group, considered by fans to be the youngest after Penelope, and sadly he gets little attention.

Cappy is a completely cream-colored hamster with brown ears. He is always wearing a green cap, a gift from his owners, but he sometimes cover his head with other objects, primarily a red saucepan.

Cappy's personality is that of an impressive little boy. He is looking for a role to follow, and decides that Boss is the coolest hamster around. He also really loves to play hide and seek, of which he is a true master, and he really loves all sort of caps, but other than that we don't really have much depth into him.

Cappy lives with his owners Kip and Sue, who run a stationary store (it’s referred to as a pet store in the dub) and spoils him with gifts and the best equipment and food a hamster can wish for, as if it was their own true child. Cappy considers them their true parents and call them Papa and Mama. Cappy's Japanese name is Kaburu-kun, which is the verb in Japanese used to describe “to put on one's head”. Naturally this tags along very well with his cap-related theme, so good call!

In the Japanese dub, Cappy's voice is really rough for someone as small and -presumably- young as him, which has always strike me odd.

Cappy's birthday shares Hamtaro's birthday and is another goroawase pun since the words for 8 and 6 in Japanese are spelled the same way as “hamu” or ham. 

Cappy is really good friends with Stucky, a secondary hamster that can keep up with his hide&seek skills and sometimes even beat him!

In the game world, Cappy is also friends with Seedric, because they both like hats, and he is one of the few hamsters that can “swim” as proven by his participation on the Diving event. He is also an excellent jumper by participating in the Triple Jump event.

Relationships

Cappy has no love interests in the series other than hats and his “parents”.

Cappy runs away from home and decides to live with Boss! Boss decides to teach him the hardships of a field hamster, will Cappy be able to withstand it?

Episode 120 – Where are you, Cappy!

The Ham-Hams are deciding what to play next, but Cappy's suggestion of playing hide&seek is not heard. When Stucky shows up, he decides to play with him inside one of Boss' tunnels, which collapses!

Although his birthday is a little obscured by Hamtaro's, we want to wish him a happy birthday regardless!
